Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching:
Environment of presentation
I have taken many images of the environment where I presented my pitch to the
publishers. I used a whiteboard to project my presentation on Prezi onto. The
Publishers were seated around the room at several different desks. I located them
around the room so that they had there own opinion on my pitch. I used a slide
changer because it allow me to present myself around the room instead of having to
be near the keyboard, to keep on leaning over the change the slide constantly.
Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching:
Evidence of Pitch
When presenting my pitch it was recorded on a camera. This will then allow me to
look back on my presentation to assess where I can improve upon in the future, for
future pitch’s. I got positive feedback such as, being smartly dressed meaning that I
had presented myself in a manor that was respectable. It also showing that I am
confident because it connoted that I knew what I was talking about and I felt I showed
high levels of enthusiasm. A negative in the presentation is that I need to maintain eye
contact more, as they felt and myself that I needed to look at the audience more
rather than looking at the board constantly. I then watched the video back and
completely agreed with the audience as my body language was majority of the time
faced towards the board.
Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching:
Witness statements
I completed all my pitch improvements, as you
can see on the right there is two different
highlighter colours which indicates what I have
done and what I need to put into my pitch. The
green highlighter indicates what is in my pitch
and the yellow highlighter is what I need to put in
the pitch. This image isn't an updated witness
statement now I have completed all my
corrections but I have decided to put in my
original witness statement to show what
corrections I had.
By improving your pitch you will have a better
chance of getting a higher level grade on your
coursework which will help you in later life to get
a high paid job somewhere. As you can show your
skills to make your work better and can show you
can provide high level pieces of work.

Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching:
Feedback of Pitch – Survey Monkey
The first question is “What do you think I can do to improve my pitch?”. I chose this
question because it straight away gives me something to work on, also if they are all
the same answers as shown below, it clearly shows that there is only one real place of
improvement that needs to be done and that’s to make a FaceBook page for both of
my magazine. The second question is “Were my magazine front covers appealing?”. I
chose this question because it asks the audience whether they liked my magazine
front covers but not asking them right out straight saying whether they liked it or not.
The third question is “How do you think I can improve both of my front covers?”. I
chose this question because I am asking where they think I can improve my magazine
in different aspects. The fourth question is “What would you change about both of my
magazine front covers?”. I asked this question because I’m now asking them if I were
to give them my magazine what would they do to make the magazine better or if they
were to change anything.
The fifth question that I asked was “Did I cover everything from the mark scheme?”. I
chose this question because I wanted to get feedback on whether if I have missed
anything key that I should’ve put in in order to get the higher grade overall. The sixth
question was “Were my proposals detailed enough?”. I chose this question because I
wanted to know whether I had put enough detail in so that when it comes to them
reading them, they will get everything that I put on them. The last question was
“Overall, how well do you think my presentation went?”. I chose this question because
I wanted an overall review of how my presentation went overall and to see how much
feedback I will get.
Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Pitch
Improvements
I have made various adjustments to
my pitch presentation in order to
make my overall presentation and
grade better. To the right shows one
correction that I needed to make. This
correction was to put in a slide about
any future magazine projects.
These two images are the Double
Page Spreads that I made. This was
also another correction that I
needed to do, which was to put in
screenshots of them into my pitch
presentation.
Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching:
Photoshop Improvements
The images below show my before and after Photoshop corrections. I was asked in
order to make both magazine better to put in a shape behind the puff promotion to
make it stand out more, I decided to put in shapes behind my puff promotion because
it shows that I want people to enter the competition and also to make my puff
promotion stand out from the rest.
Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching:
Production Plan
This is a detailed production plan for the development and creation for Mixer. Included is the sections of pre-production,
production and post production. In each of these sections it has been calculated the estimated costs of the process and the staff
and equipment that will be needed. The production time is over a period of 5 weeks, I feel that this is appropriate as I think that I
need this period of time to get into the office, also putting all the equipment up and taking at least 3 weeks to get photographers
and putting all the magazine together, which will be done by 10 employees together.
Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Cost
of equipment and staff
I am going to need a lot of resources for my new office as it is currently empty. The
image on the right indicates the different pieces of equipment that I am going to need
in the office for the designing and I need all of this stuff so that we can all work. The
image on the left shows the members of staff that I need to get in order for the
magazine to be put together. Next to each equipment and staff it shows how much
they are going to cost and how much they’re going to cost a year on the staffs salary.
My magazine will be published on 1st of January 2017. I have promoted various
brands, deals, festivals within my magazine to add more value to my magazine in the
sense of quality and I am willing to advertise different brands if they were to also
advertise my magazine. Seasonal holidays will not affect the production and
distribution because I will be aiming base all my production and distribution around
holidays so that all my colleagues get their required time off that they deserve.
Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching:
Calendar Events
There are many legal and ethical issues within media. Firstly, there is copyright which
comes underneath the legal side. Legal protection is used so that any original material
cannot be used by someone else. However, copyright can only be applied on the
application of the idea but not the idea itself. Also there is national security which is
another legal issue that filmmakers face. Filmmakers and producers must be aware of
laws such as official secrets act 1911 and the prevention of terrorism act.
Secondly, there is ethical issues such as right and wrong which have to be taken into
account. Exploitation and sensationalism also have to be considered and taken into
account. Offensive material such as privacy and copyright. These are not usually
enforced by law. Regulatory bodies and codes of practice exist often within the
industry.
Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Legal
and Ethical Issues
Before taking the images I needed to make sure that the
artist gave their full permission to being photographed
and the image being published both online and in print
media. I found that the best way to gain permission was
to send an email to the artist describing what they have
to wear, the location and time of the shoot. I gave them
a form to sign so that they have permission to be
photographed this means that if there are any future
legal difficulties it would not be the magazine that is
going to be at fault.
When looking around the location for the images several
area checks had to be taken. This risk assessment had to
be conducted to guarantee both the artist and the
people who are taking the images are going to be safe.
Areas that should be looked at are possible hazards such
as uneven ground levels, running water, heights and
weather conditions.
Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Risk
Assessment
When resizing an image you should be pressing shift as well as dragging the image in
and outwards as it keeps the image from warping and pixelating. This means that your
image can stay of a high quality and look good. It allows your magazine front cover
and double page spread to look professional. By pressing shift its keeping the
dimensions of the image the same by making the image smaller so that the image is
clear to see.
The eye dropper tool allows you to transfer the same colour over to different
documents. You do this by selecting the eye dropper icon and then by clicking on the
colour that you want to use for another piece of work. You can then use the same
exact colour to put onto that piece of work.
Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Risk
Assessment
Throughout this learning outcome I looked into feedback that I had received once I
had presented my pitch. This meant analysing my feedback from my peers so that any
improvements that needed to be made can be made once I had finished the previous
outcome. I gained feedback through my peers and also my teacher, where this can
then help me through getting feedback for my magazine through the audience that I
aim it at and a teacher which can give me constructive feedback that can help me to
become better at what I am doing.
Looking into further detail when analysing the legal and ethical issues was a key
because it gave me a look into planning and producing on legal and ethical terms. This
then is going to reduce the chance of copyright etc.

  • 4. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Environment of presentation I have taken many images of the environment where I presented my pitch to the publishers. I used a whiteboard to project my presentation on Prezi onto. The Publishers were seated around the room at several different desks. I located them around the room so that they had there own opinion on my pitch. I used a slide changer because it allow me to present myself around the room instead of having to be near the keyboard, to keep on leaning over the change the slide constantly.
  • 5. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Evidence of Pitch When presenting my pitch it was recorded on a camera. This will then allow me to look back on my presentation to assess where I can improve upon in the future, for future pitch’s. I got positive feedback such as, being smartly dressed meaning that I had presented myself in a manor that was respectable. It also showing that I am confident because it connoted that I knew what I was talking about and I felt I showed high levels of enthusiasm. A negative in the presentation is that I need to maintain eye contact more, as they felt and myself that I needed to look at the audience more rather than looking at the board constantly. I then watched the video back and completely agreed with the audience as my body language was majority of the time faced towards the board.
  • 6. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Witness statements I completed all my pitch improvements, as you can see on the right there is two different highlighter colours which indicates what I have done and what I need to put into my pitch. The green highlighter indicates what is in my pitch and the yellow highlighter is what I need to put in the pitch. This image isn't an updated witness statement now I have completed all my corrections but I have decided to put in my original witness statement to show what corrections I had. By improving your pitch you will have a better chance of getting a higher level grade on your coursework which will help you in later life to get a high paid job somewhere. As you can show your skills to make your work better and can show you can provide high level pieces of work.

  • 9. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Feedback of Pitch – Survey Monkey The first question is “What do you think I can do to improve my pitch?”. I chose this question because it straight away gives me something to work on, also if they are all the same answers as shown below, it clearly shows that there is only one real place of improvement that needs to be done and that’s to make a FaceBook page for both of my magazine. The second question is “Were my magazine front covers appealing?”. I chose this question because it asks the audience whether they liked my magazine front covers but not asking them right out straight saying whether they liked it or not.
  • 10. The third question is “How do you think I can improve both of my front covers?”. I chose this question because I am asking where they think I can improve my magazine in different aspects. The fourth question is “What would you change about both of my magazine front covers?”. I asked this question because I’m now asking them if I were to give them my magazine what would they do to make the magazine better or if they were to change anything.
  • 11. The fifth question that I asked was “Did I cover everything from the mark scheme?”. I chose this question because I wanted to get feedback on whether if I have missed anything key that I should’ve put in in order to get the higher grade overall. The sixth question was “Were my proposals detailed enough?”. I chose this question because I wanted to know whether I had put enough detail in so that when it comes to them reading them, they will get everything that I put on them. The last question was “Overall, how well do you think my presentation went?”. I chose this question because I wanted an overall review of how my presentation went overall and to see how much feedback I will get.
  • 12. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Pitch Improvements I have made various adjustments to my pitch presentation in order to make my overall presentation and grade better. To the right shows one correction that I needed to make. This correction was to put in a slide about any future magazine projects. These two images are the Double Page Spreads that I made. This was also another correction that I needed to do, which was to put in screenshots of them into my pitch presentation.
  • 13. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Photoshop Improvements The images below show my before and after Photoshop corrections. I was asked in order to make both magazine better to put in a shape behind the puff promotion to make it stand out more, I decided to put in shapes behind my puff promotion because it shows that I want people to enter the competition and also to make my puff promotion stand out from the rest.
  • 14. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Production Plan This is a detailed production plan for the development and creation for Mixer. Included is the sections of pre-production, production and post production. In each of these sections it has been calculated the estimated costs of the process and the staff and equipment that will be needed. The production time is over a period of 5 weeks, I feel that this is appropriate as I think that I need this period of time to get into the office, also putting all the equipment up and taking at least 3 weeks to get photographers and putting all the magazine together, which will be done by 10 employees together.
  • 15. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Cost of equipment and staff I am going to need a lot of resources for my new office as it is currently empty. The image on the right indicates the different pieces of equipment that I am going to need in the office for the designing and I need all of this stuff so that we can all work. The image on the left shows the members of staff that I need to get in order for the magazine to be put together. Next to each equipment and staff it shows how much they are going to cost and how much they’re going to cost a year on the staffs salary.
  • 16. My magazine will be published on 1st of January 2017. I have promoted various brands, deals, festivals within my magazine to add more value to my magazine in the sense of quality and I am willing to advertise different brands if they were to also advertise my magazine. Seasonal holidays will not affect the production and distribution because I will be aiming base all my production and distribution around holidays so that all my colleagues get their required time off that they deserve. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Calendar Events
  • 17. There are many legal and ethical issues within media. Firstly, there is copyright which comes underneath the legal side. Legal protection is used so that any original material cannot be used by someone else. However, copyright can only be applied on the application of the idea but not the idea itself. Also there is national security which is another legal issue that filmmakers face. Filmmakers and producers must be aware of laws such as official secrets act 1911 and the prevention of terrorism act. Secondly, there is ethical issues such as right and wrong which have to be taken into account. Exploitation and sensationalism also have to be considered and taken into account. Offensive material such as privacy and copyright. These are not usually enforced by law. Regulatory bodies and codes of practice exist often within the industry. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Legal and Ethical Issues
  • 18. Before taking the images I needed to make sure that the artist gave their full permission to being photographed and the image being published both online and in print media. I found that the best way to gain permission was to send an email to the artist describing what they have to wear, the location and time of the shoot. I gave them a form to sign so that they have permission to be photographed this means that if there are any future legal difficulties it would not be the magazine that is going to be at fault. When looking around the location for the images several area checks had to be taken. This risk assessment had to be conducted to guarantee both the artist and the people who are taking the images are going to be safe. Areas that should be looked at are possible hazards such as uneven ground levels, running water, heights and weather conditions. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Risk Assessment
  • 19. When resizing an image you should be pressing shift as well as dragging the image in and outwards as it keeps the image from warping and pixelating. This means that your image can stay of a high quality and look good. It allows your magazine front cover and double page spread to look professional. By pressing shift its keeping the dimensions of the image the same by making the image smaller so that the image is clear to see. The eye dropper tool allows you to transfer the same colour over to different documents. You do this by selecting the eye dropper icon and then by clicking on the colour that you want to use for another piece of work. You can then use the same exact colour to put onto that piece of work. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Risk Assessment
  • 20. Throughout this learning outcome I looked into feedback that I had received once I had presented my pitch. This meant analysing my feedback from my peers so that any improvements that needed to be made can be made once I had finished the previous outcome. I gained feedback through my peers and also my teacher, where this can then help me through getting feedback for my magazine through the audience that I aim it at and a teacher which can give me constructive feedback that can help me to become better at what I am doing. Looking into further detail when analysing the legal and ethical issues was a key because it gave me a look into planning and producing on legal and ethical terms. This then is going to reduce the chance of copyright etc. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching: Conclusion
