Plan
Images:
Magazine image: The image on the magazine front cover will be a mid shot of the possessed
character Alice looking down at the camera. The lighting will be low-key, which will help make her
look ominous with the dark makeup she will be wearing.
Poster Image: The image on the poster will be a close up of the main protagonist Chloe. The image
will feature her looking sideways whilst a candle is held in front of her face, making the lighting for
the photo low-key. She will also have blood running down the side of her face, making the poster
shocking and mysterious for the audience.
Location:
For both of these images the location will be indoors, at the same location used for the trailer itself. I
have decided to do both images are based around the character, not the location neither mise -en-scene.
The low-key lighting will not allow me to show too much of the location, and will be the main
focus in the ancillary products. As darkness is a connotation of danger and is a convention of the
horror genre.
Mise-en-scene:
Magazine image: The lighting will be low-key to connotate darkness and fit in with the horror
conventions. It will also help make the main focus of the image (the character Alice) stand out on the
magazine cover. The costume used will be her regular clothing ripped and blood stained as her
character is possessed. The makeup used will make her look pale and dark, making her look scary
and ominous, which will help draw the audience in.
Poster image: The lighting will also be low-key for the same reasons of the magazine image. The only
light source of the image will be the candle held up in front of the protagonists face, this will help
create mystery and illuminate the blood which will be used on the protagonists face. Apart from this
feature the makeup will be natural. As the image is a close up the costume will not be seen. The
candle used will be the only prop in the image, this will help audience’s create the link between the
poster of the film and the candles used in the trailer.
