Working Title: Monkey Around
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose: My product’s purpose is to entertain and offer enjoyment. I will achieve
this by creating a fun, family friendly game.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre: 8-bit Action/Adventure side-scrolling game
What sort of product is it
Content: My game is a goal based side-scrolling adventure game. As Marvin the Monkey
the aim is to move through each world collecting enough stars to unlock the next level.
Along the way, Marvin will face formidable foes who will try to stop him, by throwing
coconuts. Marvin will have to avoid these foes or defeat them with his collection of rocks. If
he is hurt by a foe, he will lose a life and if he loses all three it will be game over. He can,
however, collect bananasto restore life which are strategically placed throughout the
game.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
Audience: My primary audience is 5-14 years and my secondary audience is 15-24 years,
my product will appeal to these age ranges, by creating a fun, light hearted game with an
element of action and goals to achieve.
My target gender is males as it is an action adventure, however it is not exclusive of
femalesas I will offer a female character alternative and the game will have fun, bright non-
gender specific colours.
My game will be aimed at the working class, but will not be exclusive of the middle class. I
will achieve this by creating a mid-range graphics game, which will appeal to a wider
audience.
My target psychographic will be the Emulator group, but not exclusive of the Belonger
Group. I will achieve this by creating a fun goal based game, to give the audience a sense
of achievement and by creating a fun iconic character that will create a talking point and
create a sense of community.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?
Research and Planning:
In my planning, I created a mind map of ideas for my game where I came up with the name
and basic concept for my game. I created a mood board of imagesthat I will use to help me
when it comes to drawing my background scenery and characters.
For my research I looked up different games; this showed me that goal based games with
fun brightly coloured graphics are popular so this is the style of game I will create.
What elements of your research and planning will you use in your final production?
Where will you use your research and planning in your final production?

Legal & Ethical Considerations:
I will not include any content that will cause offense or exclude any particular social group,
religion, ethnicities or individuals by following ASA Code 4.
I will not include any content that could cause harm to children or prevent them from
using/accessing the game by following ASA Code 5.
I am following ASA Code 6 and copyright lawsby not using anything that is linked to a
brand or name, by creating original designs and ideas.
To ensure that my product is unique enough to be considered safe from copyright
infringement, I have researched similar games to make sure that my idea is not too similar
to ones that have already been created.
Think about any offensive material you will include?
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
