In RE: General Manager
Dear Director of Human Resources:
Thank you for reviewing my diverse hotel operations experience. My diverse career path
makes it impossible to tell a complete story in a resume format and therefore I welcome
questions or additional conversation.
My resume demonstrates commitment and loyalty, along with unusual longevity. However, my
many years with Coakley & Williams Hotel Management Company allowed me to develop a
very versatile skill-set beyond daily hotel operations. I would welcome an opportunity to
discuss my experiences in greater detail.
I had enjoyed the stability of 25 years at one location. In that time the hotel evolved from a
200-room Days Inn with a Bob’s Big Boy Restaurant, to a 327-room Crowne Plaza with a
Houlihan’s Restaurant. During the period of June 2014 to July 2015 I was involved in ad-hoc
consulting and task force assignments with a variety of hotel owners, each with their own
needs and priorities. Since July 2015 I have been Hotel General Manager for the 96-room
Georgetown Inn on Wisconsin Avenue, Georgetown.
Although my resume shows just the one location and company for the majority of my hotel
career, the Herndon property’s various evolutions and challenges allowed me to grow a very
versatile set of skills. That versatility has allowed me to adapt my approach to consulting
assignments and the Georgetown Inn based on the unique needs of the various situations. I am
very proud of my accomplishments as a full service hotelier, with expertise in working with
career staff, multi-segment sales departments, complex food & beverage and working directly
with ownership as well as their agents. An ownership change at the Crowne Plaza Herndon
marked the end of my long assignment. I look forward to finding the next great fit for my skill-
set.
Sincerely,
David Welliver
