This document summarizes Boji Bryson's media studies project tasks for creating a gaming magazine targeted at teenagers aged 11-18. It includes choosing a magazine style featuring the name and a game image to appeal to gamers. Five article features are selected: top games, best gear, PlayStation vs. Xbox, gaming careers, and the benefits of gaming. The features will focus mainly on games, gear and consoles to interest the target audience. A name is chosen for the magazine, "New Gaming Generation," and a logo is created. Finally, a poster is designed to advertise a podcast using simple, engaging visuals and text.
3. PC Gamer Magazine
I chose to produce a gaming magazine for a
target audience of teenagers aged 11-18. I like
the style of the image to the right, as it has the
name of the magazine clearly visible and then
the picture of a new game(Borderlands at the
time) with a small text about it. This would
appeal to my target audience, as it would
catch a person who generally played video
gameās eye. This would also appeal to my
target audience as gamers tend want to know
the best and newest information about new
games have recently been released, this
magazine style not only clearly shows the
reader the name of the magazine but it shows
that it has information that a gamer may want.
This is why I have chosen this type of style for
my magazine.

6. Choices About Features
1. Top ten games out now is something that every gamer wishes to know,
as in his/her gaming community people are only going to be talking
about the newest and best games. Also a gamer only wants to play the
best and newest games.
2. Best gaming gear is another essential for an everyday gamer, they want
to know the best tools and equipment to use to receive the best
quality when playing a game.
3. In the eyes of a gamer this is the argument that should never be had,
the rivalry between Xbox(owned by Microsoft) and Playstation(Owned
by Sony) is a difficult one. This will certainly attract our target audience
who want to know info about both.
4. Gaming career choices are quite important as there tends to be two
main type of gamers that fit into our target audience. 1) People who
play games in their free time. 2) People who thrive on the enjoyment
of games and wish to take this as a career path in the future.
5. To game or not to game that is the question, that possibly people who
read the magazine may want to know. This is a general question of the
public today, as a lot of people believe the misconception that playing
video games is negative.
7. How To Make Features Appeal To Target
Audience, Presentation And Additional Notes
The features that I have already chosen generally appeal to the target
audience, as it contains information that every gamer would like to or
may need to know. I will make the features appeal to target my target
audience even more, by including a detailed contents page with an
array of covers at the very first page of my book. This generally will
make my whole magazine appeal more to my target audience as I have
read a couple of magazines with either no contents page, or magazines
that have a contents page which has rather bland information. This may
repel the reader of the magazine, as you have a limited idea of where
the main articleās and pages that you want to read are. The array of
colours also helps catch the readers eye.
[Additional Notes]: I will mainly focus on feature 1,2,3 and 5 with a little
less information on 4. This is because most readers of my target
audience is aged 11-18, therefore they may not be that interested at
this point in there life in a career in gaming.
9. Name & Logo
The name for my gaming magazine would be New Gaming
Generationā¢and have the logo above (which I made). I
have made this choice as there isnāt a gaming magazine
called āNew Gaming Generationā and it embraces the idea
that the generation coming up, will have a completely
different view of gaming then the one that I or even my
teachers have.

ā¢ I created the poster in Photoshop however, it was easier to use
essential editing and enabled me to put it on slide share and then
my blog so I Am displaying it in PowerPoint.
