Donkey Kong is a game which has a
simple concept and has a pixelated
theme. I have gathered inspiration
from this and I am going to make my
own game idea pixelated and design it
to have bright colours. The game is
simple to play and is aimed at younger
players. There is also the game called
Super Mario which is another
pixelated game which is aimed at
younger people. Both of these games
are played on PC, but you could play
the Mario game on Nintendo Switch. I
like the colours and fonts used in
these two games and I might use a
similar design/idea in my own game.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
- All the researched products have got the same interaction. Both the Donkey Kong, Super Mario are
pixelated games. All the games I have researched have included either quests or challenges for the
players to complete or things that the players can unlock or improve.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
• In my own work I am going to include the pixelated idea from Flappy Bird, Donkey Kong and Super
Mario. I am also going to make my poster and game case cover layout the same as the ones I have
researched.

– Product Research
Strengths of the product research was that it helped me give ideas for the
final product.
Weakness of the research was that it was hard to come up with ideas.
– Questionnaires/survey

like about video games and also that it told me what games people like and
that helped me decide what I am going to do.
Weakness takes time and some people might not be interested.

  • 2. Existing Product Donkey Kong is a game which has a simple concept and has a pixelated theme. I have gathered inspiration from this and I am going to make my own game idea pixelated and design it to have bright colours. The game is simple to play and is aimed at younger players. There is also the game called Super Mario which is another pixelated game which is aimed at younger people. Both of these games are played on PC, but you could play the Mario game on Nintendo Switch. I like the colours and fonts used in these two games and I might use a similar design/idea in my own game.
  • 3. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? - All the researched products have got the same interaction. Both the Donkey Kong, Super Mario are pixelated games. All the games I have researched have included either quests or challenges for the players to complete or things that the players can unlock or improve. • What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? • In my own work I am going to include the pixelated idea from Flappy Bird, Donkey Kong and Super Mario. I am also going to make my poster and game case cover layout the same as the ones I have researched.
  • 5. Audience research • Observation: 11%-Female, 88%-Male • What this says about my audience: This shows that more male are interested in gaming then females. • How will your product appeal to this audience: My target audience is are mainly male gamers.
  • 6. Audience research • Observation: 88%-14-18, 11%-18-24 • What this says about my audience: The stats on the diagram show that under 18 people are more interested in gaming. • How will your product appeal to this audience: I will make sure that I don’t put many violent things in my game as my main target audiences are under the age of 18.
  • 7. Audience research • Observation: 33%-Action, 33%-Simulator, 22%-Sport, 11%-First person shooter • What this says about my audience: This says that my audiences are equally interested in Action and Simulator games. • How will your product appeal to this audience: I will make sure to take my audiences likes in consideration to make sure that they do enjoy the games such as action and simulator games.
  • 8. Audience research • Observation: 66%-For entertainment, 11%-To have something to do in spare time, 22%- Other • What this says about my audience: This shows that the people who gave feedback are playing video games to entertain themselves. • How will your product appeal to this audience:☺
  • 9. Audience research • Observation: 22%-0-5 hours, 33%-5-10 Hours, 44%-+12 • What this says about my audience: The stats from the diagram show that the people who gave feedback really enjoy gaming as they play their video games +12 a week. • How will your product appeal to this audience: Because my audiences play games for many hours I wont have to worry about the games length.
  • 10. Audience research • Observation: 33%-Yes, 66%-No • What this says about my audience: The information form the diagram show that people might not be interested enough to by the game straight after it gets released. • How will your product appeal to this audience: The fact that my audience do not buy the games straight after they get released makes my job easier because when I release the game I could still make changes to make it as perfect and entertaining as possible.
  • 11.
