Working Title: Gamers ‘R’ Us
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose: My product’s purpose is to entertain and educate the reader/s on the
latest and upcoming game/s on the market, I will achieve this by creating a visually
appealing magazine with clear easy to read article/s.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre: PC gaming magazine
What sort of product is it
Content: My product is a PC gaming magazine, consisting of a front cover and a two page
feature article about The Sims 4: Get Famous expansion.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
Audience: My primary age range will be 25-44 years and my secondary age range will be 16-
24years. My product will appeal to the primary age by basing the article on a game that has
an older version which will create nostalgia and to the secondary age range by featuring a
current trending game.
My primary gender will be malesand secondary will be females. I will appeal to both
genders by using a gender neutral colour scheme in bright blues and greens and by using
The Sims 4: Get Famous for my feature article, as this is a life simulation game which is
also gender neutral.
My primary psychographic is belongers and my secondary is needs driven. I will appeal to
these psychographics by stating the magazine ismade in the UK. I will include a current
trending game in my feature article which will create a sense of community and
conversation and by including buzz words on the front cover.
My primary social status is the working class, I will achieve this by offering my magazine at
an affordable price and offer a competition to win a product. My secondary social status is
the middle class, I will achieve this by creating a good quality magazine, ensuring my cover
and article are designed following common magazine conventions and ensuring my article
is written well.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc.
Why would your project appeal to this person?
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
I will ensure my product does not cause harm or offense to any individuals, social groups,
religions or ethnicities by following ASA code 4.
I will not include any content in my product that could cause harm or exclude a younger
audience and not create any content that could pressurise or directly advertise to them by
following ASA code 5.
My product will include an article about The Sims 4: Get Famous expansion/game and
mention relating articles on Two Point Hospital and My Time at Portia. If I was to take the
product into the real world, to ensure I comply with copyright laws and that I’m following
ASA codes 1 and 6, I would contact the companies who created the games that I am writing
about, to gain permission to include their game in my product.
Think about any offensive material you will include?
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
