2. Audience - an individual or collective group of people who read or consume any
media text. Examples include radio listeners, Television viewers, Newspaper and
magazine readers.
Target audience - a particular group at which a product such as a film or
advertisement is aimed at.
An audience is key for making a media text successful because this is who you
are making it for and to appeal to them as much as possible. A trailer is made to
not give a lot away about the film to the audience so they become more engaged
in what is happening, and therefore want to watch the rest of the film. Media is
all about advertisement for the audience to be interested in whatever is being
produced.
Our target audience for the opening sequence we made is focused on 18-25 year
olds, however, the wider audience that we can appeal to can be 14, 15, and 16
year olds as well as male and females between the ages of 25 and 30.
