• The Consortium for educational communication
popularly known as CEC is one of the commission of
India. It has been established with the goal of
addressing the needs of higher education through the
medium of Television along with the appropriate use
of emerging Information Communication
Technology(ICT)

6. Objectives
• To Co-ordinate , determine and Maintain the standards
of University education.
• To ensure the quality of University education.
• To develop universities as centre's of excellence.
• To assess the financial needs of the universities and
formulate and implement proper plans and programs.
7. Functions of UGC
• To enquire into the financial needs of the universities.
• Allocate and disburse grands to universities and colleges for
their development and maintenance.
• Advising central and state governments on the measures for
the improvement of University education.
• Promote and co-ordinate University education.
• Institute fellowship and scholarships.

9. CEC
• CEC an inter University centre was established by
University Grants Commission (UGC)on 26th may 1993
under section 12(CCC)of its act.
• CEC is a nodal agency at National level, to address the
educational needs of the country through the use of
various modes of communication Such as TV, Radio,
edusat and internet.
10. •CEC and media centre are initiating new
programmes in teacher with academic staff
college of UGC.
•The CEC along with EMRCs are the only
organisation in the country to take up
educational Media Research Activity.
•CEC is planning to create massive online open
courses on cloud for benefits of students.
11. Objectives of CEC
• Close coordination , facilitation, overall guidance and
towards the activities of the media centres set up by the
UGC in various universities throughout the country.
• Dissemination of educational programmes (audio/visual
and web based)and related support material further setting
up of appropriate facilitates for such production.
12. • Research activities related to optimising the
effectiveness of such programmes providing a
forum for the active involvement of the academic
creation and other scholars in the creation of
appropriate educational programmes.
• Studying , promoting and experimenting with new
technology that will increase the reach and
effectiveness of educational communication
