RESEARCH AND TRAINING
• National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
• The NCERT was established in 1961.
• It functions as a resource centre in the field of school education and teacher
education. The NCERT undertakes programmes related to research, development and
training extension and dissemination of educational innovations etc., through various
constituent Departments at the headquarters in New Delhi and 11 Field Officers all
over the country.
• Publication of school textbooks and other educational material like teachers’
guides/manuals etc. are its major functions.
5. CIET ( CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY )
▶ The Central Institute of Educational Technology (acronym CIET) is an autonomous
organization, formed as a nodal agency under the National Council of Educational
Research and Training (NCERT) for promoting the use of mass media technology for
expanding and improving the quality of education at the school level. The Institute
is funded by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India.
6. • Substituent unit of NCERT came into existence in 1984
• It’s major aim is to promote utilisation of educational technology ,radio, TV ,film,
satellite communication and cyber media as separately on combination.
• The institute undertakes divided educational opportunities promote equity and
improve quality of educational process at school level

► Development of e-content
►Disseminate e-content through various modes (transmission, non-transmission through NROER and sales mechanism) Integrate ICTs in
teaching learning process through capacity building among teachers through blended mode.
To design media software especially mass media ,radio and television interactive multimedia and web based learning resources utilising ICT
to enrich the transaction of curricular activities at the different levels of school education

Developed ICT curriculum for students and teachers.
Develpoed national repository of Open Educational Resources (NROER)
Organized training programmes for teachers and teacher educators of 15 states through face to
face and distance mode.
Organized All India Children’s Educational Audio Vedio programmes, Contests and National ICT
Award for school teachers.

• Training in specialized areas, radio, audio, television and video production and

• Reserch and evaluaton to test and improve systems, methods and materials.
