Social media are computer-mediated technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas, career interests and other forms of expression via virtual communities and networks. Examples of social media include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and WhatsApp. Social media can be used in the classroom by connecting students in a Facebook group, publishing or watching videos on YouTube, using Twitter for discussions, and having students blog. Pedagogy is the method and practice of teaching, especially as an academic subject or theoretical concept. Social media can significantly and positively innovate pedagogy by helping teachers connect with students, building relationships outside the classroom, making education work easier, and providing easy access to information.
