Andrew Downes experimented with different design elements for a front cover and double page spread. For the front cover, he used a color gradient background, masks to adjust lighting, and specific fonts. For the double page spread, he used a downloaded image, masks, gradients, shapes to contain text and images, and brush textures. However, he found the fonts did not look right. In his reflections, he noted elements he would carry over like masks, gradients, and box placements, but would need to change the fonts and possibly add drawings.

2. Front Cover Process
• I used a colour gradient on the
background which I
downloaded and installed also
there is a mask on the
background just to make some
small changes to the lighting, I
also downloaded the overseer
bold font from dafont and
installed that and used it as
the title and the other font I
used was calibri of some sort
and then all I had to do was
find appropriate spaces fro the
pictures and shapes and I had
to find a decent colour to use
to colour in the shapes.

3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you include in
your final product?
• I will most likely use masks and maybe use a few colour
gradients sharpen, and the burn effect was useful as far
as fonts go I think for the smaller little bits of
information is good the calibri font and as for the
overseer bold font I believe I will have to find a
different font as well it probably could work but it has
to be quite big the font size to be able to read it
properly. As far as the colour pallet goes I think it is
fairly good but I also think it could use some images of
the other games.

4. Double Page Process
• First of all I got the picture online and
made a gap on the right hand side and
yet again I have used masks to make
some areas darker and then I had also
used burn, sharpen and blur, and colour
gradients that I had downloaded then I
had created boxes with the shape tool to
create area(s) to put writing and images
inside of them, I also used three different
brush types which I downloaded and
installed which looked like paint splatters
and as for the information I used Onyx
font this time and it just doesn’t look
quite right and as for the subheadings I
used the Overseer Bold font and yet
again it doesn’t work and then I also got a
picture of the god of war logo and got rid
of the background using the magic wand.

5. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• I will also use masks and colour gradients to make
differences to the lighting and then as for all of
the fonts I will have to change them as none of
them look quite right in any of the places I had
put them but the placement of the boxes and
things looked good and I think I should add a title
like I did in this one and as for the decoration
around the boxes and as for the pictures I think I
need to do some fan art sort of drawings for it.
