This document contains summaries of the weekly reflective diaries of Alicja Morawska for her FMP project. In week one, she set up her blogger account, completed a skills audit, pre-proposal, mood board with 29 annotated images, and proposal explaining her rock music magazine concept. In week two, she researched different magazine pages and additional products like posters and album covers, conducted secondary audience research, and scouted photography locations. In week three, her survey responses were lower than hoped, so she shared the link more widely and experimented with combining masthead and cover images, compiling artist lists, and learning photography lighting. In week four, she focused on stylesheets, flat plans, cover design ideas, and started

Week One Reflective Diary – Initial Plansand Proposal
After being given the brief in class,I madesure that the blogger accounton which all my work was going to be
submitted was set up correctly for the FMP. Into my Initial plansPowerPoint,I added the skillsauditand pre-
proposal thathad been completed before the startof the week. I worked on creatingfive pages for my mood
board, which contained 29 annotated images. I tried to explain thoroughly why these images where going to be
useful to me as inspiration for my project. I finished the PowerPoint by writingabout the three main influences
that I had for this project, which were mostly centered around the culturethat comes with the audience for the
kind of product that I'm planningon creating, a rock music magazineas well as supportingpromotional material.
The final thingthat had to be done before the end of the week was a completed Proposal, which explainsthe
concept for my project.
Week Two Reflective Diary – Research Week One
As I already know what kind of product I’m making and I what I’d liketo include, the product research has
consisted of the different pages and additional products I’mgoingto make; front cover, double page spread,
festival artistannouncement poster and an albumcover. I have made observations aboutthe different aspects of
each product and how they would help attract an audience. I’ve worked on creatingsecondary audienceresearch
about the magazines I’m usingas inspiration usingtheir audienceprofiles,as well as sendingouta survey. I’ve also
started lookingatpotential locations for my photography, that is easily accessibleto me and the models.
Week Three Reflective Diary – Research Week Two
The people who I had emailed my survey weren’t as responsiveas I’d have hoped and to ensure that the survey
got a reasonableamount of responses the link was shared throughout the students on the course. I included slides
that discussed potential interviewideas,as well as my workingon my practical research. For my experiments, I
chose to look into combiningmasthead and cover image in Photoshop, compilinga listof artists in thecorrect
format for a festival poster and going into the studio to learn how to properly set up lightingfor a photoshoot.
Week Four Reflective Diary – Pre-production
Duringthis week, I’ve payed closeattention to the stylesheets and flatplans,as I haveideas for some of the pages
already in my head, and I know that I needed to express that into the work to make surethat it’s clear how I got
from one idea to the final product. I’ve explored different ideas for masthead fonts as well as color scheme for the
front cover, as I’ve also had to address that there isn’tgoing to be a continuous housestylerunningthroughout
the magazine due to the kind of publication itis. As well on top of the health and safety slideregardingthe
classroomI wanted to make one addressingthe potential issues thatI could have duringon location shoots.I’ve
also started writingthe copies of the articles,as I knowabout how many words I’m going to need to fill the space
on the flatplans, savingme time later on duringproduction.

Week Five Reflective Diary – Production Week One
Startingthe week, I didn’t have any images that I could startmy production on so to fill thetime I made sure that
my pre-production was up to date. I knew I didn’t want to repeat what had happened in my printrotation earlier in
the year where I had to hold off on production due to poor schedulingand unreliablemodels so I asked two people
to come into the photography studio duringlesson so I could gather studio images and work with the lighting
equipment, givingmyself somewhere to start.By the end of the week I had started on one double page spread by
addingthe image, pull quotes, writingthe articlecopy and addingall the smaller detailsI wanted to include.I also
began working on the CD casethat I planned to make to be a free promotional item that came wi th the magazine,
creatingthe CD titleand composingthe listof artists and songon the back.
