Looking back at your preliminary task, what
1. 6. Looking back at your
preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt
in the progression from it
to the full product?
2. My preliminary task was to create a front cover and contents page for the
college magazine. As you can see it is very simple and basic in contrast
to my final magazine given that I hadn't done any product research and had very little
knowledge on the Software/ Hardware I was using.
3. When looking back at my preliminary task I can
see all the different things I have learnt since then.
I have learnt how to prepare for creating a magazine
and all of the different aspects you have to take into
account. I researched my target audience and
adapted my planning by using Mise-en-scene. I
planned what models I was going to use, where to
take the images and what they would wear. Even
though I didn’t follow the exact images I planned to
take they were very similar, I had various ideas when
it came to taking the images that I could use
to improve the photos . Meanwhile in my preliminary
task I did not plan anything before taking the images
therefore they turned out unprofessional and the
images for my music magazine turned out much
better.
When doing my preliminary task I had no knowledge
whatsoever on Photoshop or InDesign. I have since
improved and discovered many things about each
Software. For example how to layout the images and
text across the page correctly, how to edit my images
to best suit my magazine and all the different tools
necessary to complete the magazine.
4. I have improved my images a lot since my first task to my final product. In my preliminary
task I hadn't really used a professional camera before and didn’t know what setting to take it
in or what lighting to use or where to take it. Meanwhile in my music magazine I learnt which
setting to use and used studio lights to ensure the images were bright and good quality. Once
I started to get more confident with the camera and knew what I was doing the images
started to come out much better. I took most of my photos in a studio as it is much more
professional. The models changed outfits various times to ensure I had options when
choosing which images I would use in my magazine.
