FMP REFLECTIONS
Week One- Contextual
Research
For the first week of FMP had started with Contextual Research, contextual research is where I had to research at least three artists
in the area of work I will be doing for my project, as I researched 2 but I need to do at least 3 but I couldn’t find any photographer
that I would want in my research so I decided that I’ll finish it off next week. I had researched 2 graphic designers named Jamie
Reid and April Greiman where for my research I had found about their journey into creating the art they made and also what certain
arts they made and why did they get popularised. Being able to research for artist that in areas work I will be doing is beneficial as I
get view their work and see how can I interpret any of the style of artist into my own but not copying exactly but make unique to me.
The next person i research for my contextual research is Cass bird, which is the only photographer i am researching but gaining
more knowledge that will me in my journey to creating my own magazine as i am planning to use take photos for my own magazine
i think it was necessary to research about photographer and view their work of what they have done and also seeing the their
products and taking inspiration what they formed but also researched about the process and upcoming as a photographer as that
also important to my work as seeing these artist’s story and their journey to becoming to what they are known for and what areas
and arts have they made that have been appreciated by the public. But after doing my research I was able to do my bibliography
about the website and sources for my contextual Research.
Week Two- Contextual Research/Statement
& Proposal
• The second week of FMP started of with me finishing off my contextual research with finding and writing down my third
artist/photographer that I enjoy their work and see how any of their art pieces have influences/ inspire me with my own work,
after completing that I moved onto this week work where I will be writing my contextual statement and my proposal. I first
started off with writing my proposal as this was I made more an idea on what to write at the beginning of the second week of
FMP, as I wrote my Rationale where I will be stating my work for the past two years and how working in the different areas of
media and explain my reasoning to continue with doing a print-based project for my second year FMP. I also expressed my
past feelings of being a former film student and how print is more suitable for me, then next thing i stated in my FMP
Proposal was addressing my concept/ idea of what I am planning to do for FMP and stated what areas and applications will I
be using to create my idea and form it together to create the actual real life product. Then further down in the proposal I
started talking about my work will assessed by me and others and also what will I to do to show my progress throughout this
project and I then lastly wrote in my bibliography and created a schedule for my FMP which will be altered later on as I have
more of an idea of specific things I will be doing around production time as right now my production time schedule is based
on assumption, it may be not be too accurate but later on into the project I will be making of an accurate schedule that I hope
I will follow.
Week Three- Existing Products Research
• The third week of FMP was research, this research is different from contextual research I had done on the first week of FMP, as I
will be researching existing products, sales information and just overall additional information and how this will influence my
progress on my final product. As I started of with researching about the history/ evolution of fashion women’s and men’s
separately as this could be one of the topics I could potentially write about in my magazine or the magazine website, I also just
think it is important for me as my topic for my magazine is fashion it is essential for me to have a good amount of knowledge on
how and what happened in the years for modern day fashion to be the way it is. As I looked at various websites to see each
decades fashion from 1900s to current fashion, to see what was the common trend in each decade and write about women's
fashion drastically over the decades and how this useful for me as it opens up more knowledge to me on that and how with my
magazine I could address the drastic changes in women's fashion. With research this week I also researched about the amount
of fashion magazines that’s were being sold over past couples years and see the increase and decrease in sales and how that
can take an effect on my actual product as I could see if actually making a magazine would be necessary as especially for my
target audience being a young audience, I need to be cautious and aware about what my target would actually want to see from
me as I’ve come to the conclusion that my main focus of the project will be making and creating the magazine website mainly as
people from target age 18-24 will more likely and interesting to see what is going on there than an online magazine.
Week Four- Topic
Research
• The fourth week of FMP was topic research of where I would researching the chosen topic for my FMP was see what
kind extra information I could find out about the topic, my topic research would be fashion related as I would look to
seek information about people in the fashion industry such as the evolution of fashion and how that’s would affect my
FMP with creating a fashion magazine. But with this week I had realised that I had went through the Research
schedule the other way round as I did topic research last week and this week I am doing Existing Products and
Audience research as last week I felt more able to find information about my topic and finding out different production
styles/techniques used to create fashion magazines and how that would benefit me than being to find topic and
production information last week. This week I started off with researching about Vogue as a existing product but didn’t
get much information and I was going to find more information about the existing product of Vogue magazine so I then
went to research Vogue media kit where it’ll be an online document stating the statistics of what Vogue’s social media
and physical but also online sales will be showcased. But I also researched about my target audience for my target
audience that are the ages 16-21 but mainly looking at the last sources about ‘Gen Z’ as that is the crietrea to where
my target audience as I did not make survey for this project which was a negative aspect I did for this project but I
don’t think I have time to do it now but I have been looking ststistics that involve the what Gen Z like, and the how the
Gen Z are main buyers and consumers, the uprise of the Y2K fashion and how Gen Z really enjoy the fashion of that
time.
Week Five- Experiments &
Problem Solving
• The fifth week of FMP was the week one experiments and problem solving, as problem solving and experiments are such
essential part of planning and preparing for production for my idea. As problem solving consisted of me this week looking at my
idea for FMP and looks at the skills involved which were photography, videography, photoshop skills and web designing. With
that, I need to analyse and seek for any potential issues that could come across when going into production and see what i
should do avoid the problems in general or be able to have a backup plan if problems that happen when shooting or just in
production that I can’t avoid. So the entire week of college I spent I was looking at Theoretical, Technical & Practical Problems
which was me looking at the potential issues with the equipment specifically a camera. A camera is the most important part of my
project and I need to be able to seek any risks i could avoid and the people i will be working with also avoid issues with my
camera. As i started talking about the ways i could avoid the camera physically breaking the camera such as put on the strap of
the camera when filming and or taking photos and also placing the camera safe when not being used so I and the models don’t
step and damage the camera. I also started stating about the SD card in my camera and making sure about having a spare SD
card in case I run out of storage in the first SD card, as focusing on equipment problems has made me more keen on being well
prepared on production with my camera when going out for a photoshoot and if everything drastic happens with my own camera,
the last solution I will have will be borrowing kit from college which a good back up plan.
Week Six- Experiments & Planning
• The sixth week of FMP in the schedule wise is planning for production which is in 2 weeks time but I had spent majority of week
finishing off my experiments from the last week as I needed to do more experiments on possible things i could do for my actual
final product. As this week I did 4 experiments related to photo altering and typography in Photoshop, the first experiment I did
was alter a photo I had taken months ago with one of the models involved for my FMP and created a film/disposable camera
effect from YouTube tutorial as one the ideas i had with the photos I would be taking production is to have a film camera but due
financial issues I won’t be able to get one as there are other things I need to buy for this project, as an alternative idea for
wanting film camera photos I decided as one of the experiments I could do was create the film effect on an ordinary DSLR
camera photo I have taken, as this editing process of creating the effect was fairly quickly as that is useful for because I will be
able to edit a quite a few photos with that effect if I do plan use it in production and it won’t be time consuming for me in my
production period as I will be able to move on to other areas of my production after editing the photos. Creating the film effect
was useful option I could follow down in with wanting to have photos in magazine and the magazine website but i’m fully decided
yet on if i really want to use this effect I will be decided when I go into my planning period next week before production. The other
three experiments I had done were me creating a sphere text typography effect, creating a kaleidoscope effect on a image and
lastly creating a 3D chrome effect on text. These three experiments were also another important factor of experiments as I was
able to develop my abilities with text altering/typography as some of the themes I have planned to be on the website and
magazine especially the magazines pages I want to have text altering/ typography involved as I think that will showcase intention
of me contrasting from the “Vogue look” as doing typography in my work will be more intriguing and stand more in the magazine
which is my intention with rebranding Vogue to showcase the differences. But lastly one after doing all the experiments I started
on writing out my opinions on each of the experiments I had done this week as i came to the conclusion that one experiment
that I am very confident that I will be using in my production for FMP will be the kaleidoscope effect I made on one of the images
as this effect will be fitting to my euphoria concept for the magazine rebrand as euphoria concept involves the ‘trippy’ effect and i
think using the kaleidoscope effect will make the images I take more interesting and be more to the euphoria experiment.
Week Seven- Planning
• The seventh week of FMP s the second week of planning as i spent this week on creating
mood/visual boards for each concept I am planning on to do for the magazine and magazine
website to showcase what aspect of the theme I am going to for, As I created euphoria mood board,
on photoshop and used an A4 document but flipped 90 degrees clockwise to get more images on
the document. As I went onto Pinterest and looked up for euphoria then looked at the images and
see what kind of photos i could recreate, but also see the styling of it to create a final idea on what
kind of visuals, styling and aesthetic of the euphoria I am going to be doing. As I finally finished the
mood board, the conclusion of how I am going interpret the euphoria concept/aesthetic in my work
where I am going to have a party like background which contains a colourful party streamers
backdrop with the lighting being pink, blue and purple, with additional glamorous but yet dramatic
make up done as it will contain pearls, glitter, either butterfly decorations or creating the look of a
butterfly on the make up as doing this for my own work I think it really fits the theme of euphoria with
wanting to a euphoria theme in my work as a personal decision that would show a deep contrast of
how the vogue magazine looks like as Vogue magazine has the elegant and sophisticated but also
say glamorous element/theme to them and that their brand and are highly praised for it, my purpose
and or my outcome of rebranding the Vogue fashion magazine is really to showcase my talents I've
learnt from the two years in media but also to really show the contrast if vogue possible would ever
go in a different route in their brand.
Week Eight: Production
Week One
• The first week of production I started off with look at various website that talked the early 2000s and can be called the ‘y2k’ fashion, I started with
looking at website that expressing the uprising of nostalgia Such as the reboots of TV shows of the early 2000s coming back in 2022 but mainly in
2021 there was a surge of reboots happening and I was reading into more of the as the reboot of shows happening also had started the uprising of
early 2000s fashion coming back as people were watching shows from the 2000s and also watching the reboots and seeing the fashion style and
wanting to whether again or wear it in general as mainly people of the younger generation that are in my target range want to start wearing early
2000s fashion as they were not able to wear their fashion of the early 2000s in its prime so as Gen Z and my target audience are the main
consumers and buyers And it's only going continue to grow with the consumption of fashion from Gen Z that most companies are promoting and
advertising a love that products that fit in the range of the early 2000s or so called the Y2K. Then I next started writing articles for the TV show
called euphoria it's a show based on teenagers that deal with the harsh realities of high school and it's really shown in the show in its most
authentic way, As it may sometimes be triggering for some viewers as they talk about very heavy topics such as sexual assault, drug use and
addiction, gun violence, predatorial behaviour and more. A Saturday my alcohol about Maddie as one of the characters from the show and her
outfits and how she's been the most influential character in the show to the audience as she dresses in a very unique way that has massively
influenced the current youth in the styling thought they were in the day to day life. I also have written about cottage core and the uprising of this
aesthetic/ theme from the social media app called Tik Tok and how that is impacted the current generation in that fashion sense on living on the
simpler aspect of life and having simple fashion statements sometimes.
Week Nine: Production
Week Two
• The ninth week of FMP which is the second week of production where following my production schedule has me doing
creating the concept collages of each concept I am doing for the magazine, which my final concepts I am doing for the
magazine are, the TV show ‘Euphoria’, Early 2000s fashion but also known as Y2K, Cottage core and Streetwear. As over the
holiday I had managed get to do a photoshoot for the two out of four concepts for my magazine which were the Cottage core
and the euphoria concept, which was really good so far into the project as the weather conditions were right for Cottage core
which was glad as checking weather before the holidays that there was a possibility of terrible weather conditions which was
my worry for when I would have to come back college as I wouldn’t be able to do much until I had done the photoshoot which
would’ve been not great for as returning to college with no content to work with would’ve been a waste of time for me and the
production period would be quite short for me to form magazine, so overall I’m glad I have some of the content needed for my
magazine. The beginning of the week i had started of making page for introduction page for the euphoria aesthetic/concepts
as I am planning to do that with all four concepts as to show indication to the different concepts in the magazine as I want to
make clear to audience of the different concepts not have all mixed up together so it doesn’t create confusion to the audience.
With the introduction page for the euphoria concepts I had used an image form the photoshoot and went into photoshop and
created a A4 document and turned it landscape and pasted the image, then I next copy the image two times and I turned the
two copies into smart objects and added the motion blur from the filter section at the top photoshop. After using the motion
blur tool, I started on messing around with Opacity of the two copies as to create the blurred effects even more with the
image, Creating the introduction pages was fairly simple and easy which was great it wasn’t ok much stress when making
which was a great the second week of production. Then I next created a collage for the euphoria concept which consisted of
me cutting out images harshly not too clean cut, of different photos in different colours of lighting, which pink purple blue and I
have set up the images which showcase gradient from blue to pink then purple as that came out very well, I had no issues
with creating the collage but the only issue I really had with making the collage was how time consuming the cutting the
images were but aside from that creating the content for magazine has been going really well.
Week Ten: Production
Week Three
• The tenth week of FMP is the third of week production, initially started on working on the euphoria article page where I had
gotten some inspiration on Pinterest of a spread double page that I really liked that I wanted to kind of recreate it and place in.
my magazine but edit the page to of course to fit to how I would want the page to look like in magazine, as the page had I am
taking inspiration has the colour scheme of orange, pink and a little of purple, in my recreation of the page I planned and edited
my own image and the page colour scheme to be pink blue ands purple as I thought that would more fitting to euphoria side of
the magazine. As I started to edit in the of images from photoshoot using a gradient map and edit the image to be blue and pink
and copied the double page I had already formed, as I was trying set up image on double page it wasn’t going right, as I
personally didn’t like it all, I really struggled with recreating this page as everything didn’t look right to me and I became frustrated
with it and then eventually decided that I wasn’t going to do that concept for my article and decided on the Thursday to start in
creating another that is going to be in the magazine that I also was had gotten inspiration from an images from Pinterest. With
the article I have for now, that I will for this week and find some other ideas that I think would be good for the article on the days
I’m off college and just focus finishing and create more content for the cottage core concept/ aesthetic. With the collage I had
made for the cottage core concept was a in the middle of the page collage of the overlapping the same images I had taken from
the photoshoot and adoring accessories such flowers and natural related content on top of images and have text that says
‘cottage core’ surrounding the image/collage, but the lines of text are also in different colours but are natural colour the would fit
the theme for cottage core, creating the collage went very well, I was really glad that the inspiration picture and my recreation
went well and I decided to make my recreation different by adding the text surrounding as for inspiration photo there was no text
surrounding the collage so I’m glad my ideas went well with adding the text and I am confident with the content I am creating for
the magazine.
Week Eleven: Production
Week Four
• this was my final week of production where i mainly focused on finishing the last theme for the MOA
magazine, I started on finally making the front cover which is not ideal for as i am way off my schedule
but at this point i just really had to get my work finished and exported and uploaded to my site and
to issuu.com. The front cover was using gradient maps to change and or adjust the images and and back
ground to be more on the pink side as that is what i envision for my magazine in the Y2K, I also used
outer glow quite often on the text that is on the front cover of the magazine as i think it helps make the
text stand out a lot on the page and also with the front page i was able to finally make my
• logo and fit onto the magazine as that something i could have done a while i think it was better for me to
do it now as i am doing my front to make it the logo/brand match well to the front cover. After that i moved
onto editing the last double pages for the magazine in relation to the y2k, as those articles where the
‘What is Y2k’ and the impact of Y2K and I already basically have done the same process i have been
doing for that last couple of weeks of production. But with i was also able to do the welcome page for the
MOA magazine as that was something i wanted to do instead of an contents page in my magazine, so
that has me really pleased. And i finally exported all my double pages and upload them onto powerpoint,
lastly uploaded the magazine onto issuu.com. After finishing my magazine i started to move on the
evaluation process of the FMP

Week Nine: Production WeekTwo • The ninth week of FMP which is the second week of production where following my production schedule has me doing creating the concept collages of each concept I am doing for the magazine, which my final concepts I am doing for the magazine are, the TV show ‘Euphoria’, Early 2000s fashion but also known as Y2K, Cottage core and Streetwear. As over the holiday I had managed get to do a photoshoot for the two out of four concepts for my magazine which were the Cottage core and the euphoria concept, which was really good so far into the project as the weather conditions were right for Cottage core which was glad as checking weather before the holidays that there was a possibility of terrible weather conditions which was my worry for when I would have to come back college as I wouldn’t be able to do much until I had done the photoshoot which would’ve been not great for as returning to college with no content to work with would’ve been a waste of time for me and the production period would be quite short for me to form magazine, so overall I’m glad I have some of the content needed for my magazine. The beginning of the week i had started of making page for introduction page for the euphoria aesthetic/concepts as I am planning to do that with all four concepts as to show indication to the different concepts in the magazine as I want to make clear to audience of the different concepts not have all mixed up together so it doesn’t create confusion to the audience. With the introduction page for the euphoria concepts I had used an image form the photoshoot and went into photoshop and created a A4 document and turned it landscape and pasted the image, then I next copy the image two times and I turned the two copies into smart objects and added the motion blur from the filter section at the top photoshop. After using the motion blur tool, I started on messing around with Opacity of the two copies as to create the blurred effects even more with the image, Creating the introduction pages was fairly simple and easy which was great it wasn’t ok much stress when making which was a great the second week of production. Then I next created a collage for the euphoria concept which consisted of me cutting out images harshly not too clean cut, of different photos in different colours of lighting, which pink purple blue and I have set up the images which showcase gradient from blue to pink then purple as that came out very well, I had no issues with creating the collage but the only issue I really had with making the collage was how time consuming the cutting the images were but aside from that creating the content for magazine has been going really well.

Week Ten: Production WeekThree • The tenth week of FMP is the third of week production, initially started on working on the euphoria article page where I had gotten some inspiration on Pinterest of a spread double page that I really liked that I wanted to kind of recreate it and place in. my magazine but edit the page to of course to fit to how I would want the page to look like in magazine, as the page had I am taking inspiration has the colour scheme of orange, pink and a little of purple, in my recreation of the page I planned and edited my own image and the page colour scheme to be pink blue ands purple as I thought that would more fitting to euphoria side of the magazine. As I started to edit in the of images from photoshoot using a gradient map and edit the image to be blue and pink and copied the double page I had already formed, as I was trying set up image on double page it wasn’t going right, as I personally didn’t like it all, I really struggled with recreating this page as everything didn’t look right to me and I became frustrated with it and then eventually decided that I wasn’t going to do that concept for my article and decided on the Thursday to start in creating another that is going to be in the magazine that I also was had gotten inspiration from an images from Pinterest. With the article I have for now, that I will for this week and find some other ideas that I think would be good for the article on the days I’m off college and just focus finishing and create more content for the cottage core concept/ aesthetic. With the collage I had made for the cottage core concept was a in the middle of the page collage of the overlapping the same images I had taken from the photoshoot and adoring accessories such flowers and natural related content on top of images and have text that says ‘cottage core’ surrounding the image/collage, but the lines of text are also in different colours but are natural colour the would fit the theme for cottage core, creating the collage went very well, I was really glad that the inspiration picture and my recreation went well and I decided to make my recreation different by adding the text surrounding as for inspiration photo there was no text surrounding the collage so I’m glad my ideas went well with adding the text and I am confident with the content I am creating for the magazine.

Week Eleven: Production WeekFour • this was my final week of production where i mainly focused on finishing the last theme for the MOA magazine, I started on finally making the front cover which is not ideal for as i am way off my schedule but at this point i just really had to get my work finished and exported and uploaded to my site and to issuu.com. The front cover was using gradient maps to change and or adjust the images and and back ground to be more on the pink side as that is what i envision for my magazine in the Y2K, I also used outer glow quite often on the text that is on the front cover of the magazine as i think it helps make the text stand out a lot on the page and also with the front page i was able to finally make my • logo and fit onto the magazine as that something i could have done a while i think it was better for me to do it now as i am doing my front to make it the logo/brand match well to the front cover. After that i moved onto editing the last double pages for the magazine in relation to the y2k, as those articles where the ‘What is Y2k’ and the impact of Y2K and I already basically have done the same process i have been doing for that last couple of weeks of production. But with i was also able to do the welcome page for the MOA magazine as that was something i wanted to do instead of an contents page in my magazine, so that has me really pleased. And i finally exported all my double pages and upload them onto powerpoint, lastly uploaded the magazine onto issuu.com. After finishing my magazine i started to move on the evaluation process of the FMP
