2. HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE
COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN
PRODUCT AND YOUR
ANCILLARY TEXTS?
I made sure that my ‘Fragmented’ text was the same over my products so that it ensured the audience that
promotional tool they were looking at ran alongside the other promotional packages that I had created. This text
also ran throughout the film trailer instead of just at the beginning and then changing to plain text as this also
ensured that audience knew the products were all the same promotional package even if they had started watching
half way through the playing or screening of the trailer.
My main character also stayed the same throughout all of my promotional package to make sure the audience could
recognize who the main character was. This would make my package a well known brand throughout all aspects. I
also decided that to ensure this I would have Kieran as the character on my magazine front cover and on my films
poster.
The billing block that was seen on my groups trailer was also the same as the one that I showed at the bottom
center of my film poster to show consistency throughout my promotional package and to make sure that it is
recognizable to the audience viewing it.
I used multi media platforms on both my magazine cover and my films poster to ensure that the audience was able
to keep up to date on up coming information that may be released about the new film. As I had a target audience
of 16 – 25 I felt that including a multi media platform was essential as they are a part of the younger generation
who are always using social media. I chose to use twitter as my main platform as I feel that it is becoming more and
more popular day by day.
In our group we decided that the November the first would be a good release date for our film as it is the month of
remembrance day and as our film was based on the issue of PTSD caused by war we felt like releasing it in
November would be a good idea. I kept this date the same over my trailer and my film’s poster and had it in bold
text so that the audience was aware of the release date.
