1. Who would be the
audience for your
media product?
Question 4.

2. As I started my research for my magazine, I decided that I wanted
to target 15 ~ 25 year olds with an audience of 70% being
female and 30% being male. I chose this percentage for the
reason that more females listen to the genre; pop music than males.
When I gave out a questionnaire I gave it to 7 females and 3
males to keep with my target audience.
I believe that my magazine does appeal to my target audience as I
have researched all aspects of my chosen readers. I created a mood
board so that I was able to narrow down the type of people I
wanted to attract to my magazine.

4. Shown on the previous slide is my mood board that I created after
conduction my research. I stated ‘My readers are people who
regularly listen to music. My target audience like fashion and
downloading music onto their phones or iPod / iPads.’ I feel that I
have shown this throughout my magazine with Spotify links and
including a sell line saying ‘Stacey Rees is back with more fashion
tips’.

6. My target audience is reflected throughout my magazine, featured on
the front cover in the sell lines are the artists that my target
audience would be interested in listening to and I have said ‘…find
out what winning the tv show ‘you’ve got talent’ was like…’ for
the reason that my target audience would be into watching these type
of talent tv shows. Huw on the front cover is wearing the latest
fashion which is also something that my readers are into. On my
mood board, I featured an image of the iPhone as my readers are
into technology, therefore, Vinyl is a multi media platform to
attract the readers to explore the rand more.

7. On my front cover I also mentioned ‘Lottie’s first Cardiff gig’ as
my readers would be into going to gigs and festivals. I also
included an image of Lottie above this sell line, she is also dressed
in the newest fashion, just like Huw in the main image.

9. The artists in my magazine are all relatively young as this relates to
my young target audience. Everything my magazine offers would
appeal to this young target audience because Vinyl is not only a
magazine and is a multi media platform brand. As seen in the
bottom, left hand corner of my contents page, there is a link to
’www.Vinyl.com’ with an image of the Spotify logo, this would
definitely appeal to my target audience for the reason that the young
generation are commonly thought of as technophiles who enjoy new
technology and use social media.

11. My article is about Huw who cannot handle the sudden fame and
the paparazzi making stories up about him. This type of story is a
celebrity gossip story and my young target audience would be
interested in this. From the image on Vinyl ’s double page spread you
can see the whole of Huw’s outfit. You can now see that his outfit
is part of the latest fashion, being something my audience is into.

12. I came up with the question;
‘After seeing all the pages of my magazine, do you think
that it appeals to a pop genre’s target audience?’
I showed 5 people the pages I had created and then asked them the
question above. 90% of the people I asked said that they thought it
appealed to the pop genre’s target audience. The remaining 10%
said that they thought ‘There could have been more links to social
media in the pages.’
