How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary
texts?
• Having looked at real media marketing campaigns
we thought it would be a good idea to create our
own. Social media is widely used in todays society
and almost the main source of communication
between people all over the world and of all
ages, in particular, teenagers. As our target
audience is 18+ we decided to create social
media pages on popular sites such as Twitter and
Facebook. Here our audience would be given the
opportunity to like/follow/subscribe so that they
can be up to date and informed of what is
happening with our film.
Public transport is widely used and has a large
number of footfall. Millions of people use public
transport everyday which is why advertising
films on bus stands is common. This would
enable people who are waiting, to see our film
poster so that they are aware of the name and
the release date.
Stylistic Links
In my magazine and poster I used Stylistic links in
terms of the layout and costuming. In both the
poster and magazine we see the model wearing the
mask which indicates he/she is hiding their identity.
This further suggests what the genre of the film is –
being a heist, where the conventions of the
characters wearing masks is common. The mask
itself is quite distinctive so people would be able to
identify when seeing the magazine or the poster
and know it is the same film.
Trailers
Our trailer is in chronological order based on the
scenes in the film. Although we did this, we did not
reveal a lot about the characters or what was going
to happen. The trailer includes a lot of mise-en-
scene which is identifiable to the audience like the
mask and blueprints. The main purpose of a trailer
in my opinion is to catch the audiences attention
and leave them wanting more. I think we did this
well in our trailer as we didn’t give away too much
but we included enough for the audience to think
about.
