This document summarizes and analyzes the design elements of a double page spread (DPS) from a music magazine featuring Lady Gaga. It notes that the main image is a black and white photo of Lady Gaga topless covering her breasts. The text discusses Lady Gaga's style and a quote with swearing to create an informal tone. Analysis indicates the magazine targets a young male audience given the revealing photo. Design elements like fonts, columns, lines, and a large red "L" are also described.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Images
There is one main image on this double page spread
and it takes up one of the pages. It is a grey, black
and white photo of the star Lady Gaga with no top on,
covering her breasts with her hands and a chain like
necklace. The photo is a medium close up. The star is
looking directly into the camera creating the feeling of
her looking at you. Due to Lady Gaga not wearing a
top, it fits with Laura Mulvey's theory "male gaze"
(Visual Pleasure) This theory is that women models in
the media are wearing a small amount of clothing to
catch the eye of a male audience. However, Lady
Gaga has been known to want to wear minimal and
outrageous clothing to show her power. In this photo
she has a chain like necklace. This could be seen as
her doing this to seem like a powerful women, going
against Laura Mulvey's theory.
Furthermore, the colour scheme of the dps image is
black and white. This filter helps the model look
cleaner and more eye catching as a person will come
out as a bright white, contrasting against the darker
coloured areas on the image. Lady Gaga has bright
white frizzy hair, this hair also stands out very well
from the darker areas of the image.
3. Text
The text is set out in 3 columns and are not
text wrapped. It is also covered in a large
red L for Lady Gaga. At the beginning of 2 of
the paragraphs there are large letters
showing importance and helping the text be
easier to read.
Also, the text is about Lady Gaga as a
person and talks about what she's like and
includes her quotes. One of the quotes
swears, this creates an informal
atmosphere.
Furthermore, the text is in a sans serif and
serif font. These fonts are the most
commonly used fonts in media. Almost
every music magazine I have researched
mainly uses a sans serif and serif font.
4. Language and Register
In this music magazine there is a few
ways in which its text is informal. For
example:
In one of the paragraphs it says “When
a guy says, Oh I f***ed all these chicks
this week, there's a high five and
giggling”. This is informal language as
it uses slang and swears.
Additionally, the magazine will be
aimed towards a younger male TA as
the main image is of a half naked
woman covering up her breasts.
5. Page Furniture
There are no banners around the page
which is very weird as most of the dps's
I have researched have banners on
them.
At the top and at the bottom of the text
there us lines. This helps keep it neat
and also helps the text stay simple and
easier to understand and read.
6. Colour
The main image of Lady Gaga is in
black and white. Both of these colours
are seen as powerful and engaging.
This is a very good colour scheme to
use as the darker parts of the image
help contrast the white, causing it to be
more eye catching
7. Colour
The text is in plain black and has a
white background. This helps the text
stay clear and easy to read. Although
this text is very bland and not very eye
catching
In addition, there is a large red “L”
which is bellow the text causing the text
to almost pop out at you and also helps
the page catch someone's eye due to
its engaging shade of red. The colour
red is mainly associated with love and
affection. This red letter “L” also
creates synergy from the front cover as
this is a Q magazine and Q's masthead
is a large red Q with a white
background, the same as this large red
L. I really like the way this L has
created synergy and is linked to other
aspects of the magazine.
8. Audience
It is very obvious to tell that the audience for this magazine are young adults
as the main star image is a half naked Lady Gaga, covering her breasts with
her hands and a chain like necklace.
