6. Questions 1&2
1. Which version of this poster do you
prefer and why?
I prefer the poster on the right as the
colour of the background fits the image
and text better. I also think that it looks
better zoomed in as well. The poster
attracts your attention more as the
colour of the background is brighter.
2. What would you change to this
poster and why?
I would align the title and the text up
so that its more symmetrical. I also
would maybe make the colour of the
eye slightly brighter (the red part).
7. Questions 3&4
3. What would you change/add to
this poster and why?
I would make the text at the top of
the poster easier to read. It is
readable but the ‘Ezra Miller’ and
‘Emma Watson’ text is slightly
blurrier than the rest of the text on
the poster. The text on the bottom is
also blurry.
4. Which style of posters do you prefer
and why, (photography or graphic design
based)?
It depends on what the subject of the
poster is about, but usually I prefer
graphic design based posters, as I like
the cartoonish look to them and the
comic book style.
8. Questions 1&2
1. Which version of this poster do you
prefer and why?
I prefer the second poster over the second because it
is more colourful. It also works with the colour of the
petals. The yellow poster could use the paper texture
that the brown poster has as it gives it interesting
detail. At the moment it looks a little plain. The image
of just the persons head looks better than the first as
more detail can be seen.
2. What would you change to this
poster and why?
The only thing I would change about this poster is
the texture on the eye. I think that making it
slightly dimmer or blurred would give it a more
realistic look to it if that is what you are going for.
I don’t think anything else needs to be changed.
The poster doesn’t look crowded and the text is
also laid out well.
9. Questions 3&4
3. What would you change/add to
this poster and why?
I like the layout and design of this poster. The font is
great. I would change the font colour or change it in a
way that would make it stand out more because it is a
little hard to read against the flowers and the lighter
patches of the wall.
4. Which style of posters do you prefer and why, (photography or graphic
design based)?
I prefer the photography poster. I think it is a well thought out photograph that had been laid out well in
Photoshop. The font also a really good choice and it matches the aesthetic. I think the two posters suit different
purposes. The graphic design poster looks more like a book cover and the photography poster looks more like a
film poster.
10. Questions 1&2
1. Which version of this poster do you
prefer and why?
2. I prefer the one to the left, but I prefer the
background colour of the right. This is because
the background colour of the right is happier
and links more with ‘perks of being a
wallflower’. I would change the colour of the
flowers in the font by making them darker. This
is so its more visible against the background. I
do feel like the graphic work you have used in
these both are very serious which I feel doesn’t
reflect the film well. This could use some
improving by making the graphic on the front
more detailed. This is because the hair and
outfit seems randomly placed.
2. What would you change to this
poster and why?
I would get rid of the swan on the
black swan poster. This is because the
whole poster is dark and having the
swan there adds a happy, elegant
effect to the poster. With the poster
being so dark and twisted, this doesn’t
go with the theme. However, the rest
of the poster is fabulous. I love the
image used and the edit you have
done to the eye.
11. Questions 3&4
3. What would you change/add to
this poster and why?
I would change the font in this
photo. This is because it isnt clear
with the image you have used. You
could reposition the font, or darken
the image so that the font is clear to
read.
I would also edit the photo by
making the flowers stand out more
than the wall. This is because it’ll
add a more delicate effect to the
overall photo.
4. Which style of posters do you prefer and why, (photography or
graphic design based)?
For the perks of being a wallflower one, I prefer the
photography. This is because I feel like its more effective and
helps portray the film better. Where as the graphic design poster
you have done for the film, is more mug shot/ world war poster
looking. However, the combined effective you have used in the
black swan one, is great.
12. Summary
The majority of people prefer the second version of The Perks Of Being A Wallflower poster
because you can see the flowers more that maps out his body. I prefer the other way however I
am going to change it because I agree that this will enhance the graphics on the poster. They also
prefer the second poster because the bright yellow influences the poster to stand out more and
grab your attention. I asked the audience what I should change or add on the Black Swan poster
and the most common feedback was the align the text more as well as enhancing the colour and
veins in the eye to make it brighter and stand out more. I will take action on this feedback
because I knew that my work needed some improvement but I did not know where to begin on
the Black Swan. Another person so that I should distort the swan to highlight that it is elegant but
also show the contrast and the dark side. The main response on the Perks photography based
poster was to change the font and colour scheme because it is not easy to read which I strongly
agree with. I am going to work on this poster as I have only spent a few hours on this
photography based poster and it needs improvement to look professional and realistic. My
feedback highlights to me that my target audience tends to prefer a graphic design based poster
however I like both versions of poster.
