This document summarizes the student's fashion-focused media project. They will create a magazine front cover and two-page spread as well as a fashion brand website. They chose this project because they enjoy design and want experience creating a clothing brand website. The target audience is women aged 16-25 interested in fashion. They will need Photoshop to edit photos and design the products as well as a camera to take photos of clothing and models. Discounted ideas were a food game/magazine and summer photography portfolio, which they felt were not strong suits or new skills.
1. A Style Idea
• Within these pictures the style of the clothing is
something I am loving at the minute and have chose in
which I am looking to create photos exactly like this and
the layout of the magazine and websites give me a lot
more ideas when creating my final project, I believe
fashion really identifies people by showing off your own
look and style and I am looking to show off mine within
this project!
• The leather pants look is most definitely one of my
favorite looks to re-create and I will include this within
the 3 different products. It really makes the outfit pop
and finishes it off, so its basic with a hint of extra.
2. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images
styles/fonts/tone/mood
In the different range of images in my mood board the main part of repetition is
definitely the colour scheme this is because the tone is basic colours they are not too
bright, almost a levelled colour (in the middle) and the background of the photos all
include a basic colour. In my magazine section all the fonts in the photos are thin large
fonts, this is my favourite type of font because I think when they are thin it doesn’t make
the cover look too much and will appeal to my audience. The tone and mood repeated
was a professional and cheerful mood this links to the image style and is portrayed
through this because the photos are clear with a clear background and the colour
schemes aren’t too unsaturated.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence my final product as I now have a much better
understanding by looking at different photos it will help me to re-create my own and give
me better ideas on how I will achieve this, therefore I will also achieve different style
ideas because all the photos give me an idea of the styles which match together and will
be easier when I come round to taking pictures in them. The layout of the magazine and
website will also influence my final products because I like the idea of the double two
page spread including ne large image and on the other page there is the writing, I also
love the website layouts and I am looking for my website layout to be similar to the
pictures featured in my mood board. For example it includes different seasons of
clothing on the front and at the top it has the different categories of clothing.
3. Informal Proposal
Current Idea
Concept The product I am creating is aimed at women aged 16-25 who are interested and desire
fashion and the different styles included within this. Mainly for the website I will be
creating my own fashion brand and my magazine will include different fashion styles.
Type of
products you
would make
• Within The project I will be making three different products such as a magazine front
cover and two page spread I chose this because throughout all the different media
projects the magazine section was definitely my favourite as designing is something I
really enjoy, I am then. Also creating a website using photoshop this is something I
haven’t yet experienced but links to something I would enjoy having and creating
myself in the future as a clothing brand therefore it gives me experience.
What you
will need to
make them
For all of the three different products I will be needing photoshop mainly this will be
used to edit every single product and put the product piece together, I will also be
needing my phone camera to take and collect all the images together including a model
and the clothing is another main thing I will need. I can also edit some of my photos
with photoshop including the lighting and image sizes, backgrounds and setting
locations is also another key part to what I will need.
Audience My primary audience Is women aged 16-25 as my style is more casual, classy and thing
such as colour schemes would appeal more towards women. My secondary audience is
still aimed at women but aged 20-30 this is because I believe my products can appeal to
teens but can also appeal to older adults as some of the clothing is very formal and not
too basic.
4. Choices
Discounted ideas Reasons for not choosing this project
One of the discounted ideas I wrote down was a
food based game and magazine and poster
including different recipes on how to make the best
dishes the target audience for this was women aged
20-35.
• However I didn’t choose this project because
when creating a game this is probably one of my
weaknesses as gaming isn’t a strong point to me
and I do struggle with using different type of
photoshop tools creating the animations
therefore this wouldn’t turn out as professional
as I am wanting it too.
Lastly, the other discounted ideas was a summer
photography based portfolio and poster &
magazine this was a strong idea and the target
audience for this was men aged 18-25.
• Although did like this idea I struggled with
thinking about creating the portfolio as this
would be something new to me and I prefer
creating things I have practiced because I can
improve and achieve a higher standard.
Editor's Notes
For your idea, write a brief, informal proposal. Ensure you proof read and check spelling etc
For the audience section consider age/gender/psychographic/geodemographic/social grade etc
Discuss the other two ideas from your initial mind map and reasons for why you didn’t choose them
