In our Media lessons we were requested to research and analyse two existing front covers and 2 existing contents pages for school magazines, the information for which can be editted later on once I know more information relevant to the objective.
1. The clothing of the student suggests a more relaxed and comfortable environment within the college, appealing to a broader range within the audience The target audience for this magazine going by the aesthetics and such would most likely be people aged 17+ of any ethnic background. This is evident through the use of an actual student on the front cover and the information below the Title: “Global Learning”. Eye contact by the student appeals to a broader audience as it feels far more personal than if looking elsewhere
2. The target audience for this magazine going by the appearance and layout would most likely be for pupils aged 12+ whom are looking to enrolling at high school, this is shown by the pupil in the centre. Contrasted Headlines draw the audience’s attention, thus making them want to find out more information about the articles on show. They are also mainly related to the school, thus appealing more so to the Parents of the would be pupils at the school Eye contact makes the audience pay attention to what’s happening on the page as it makes it feel more personal.
3. The target audience based on the appearance and information would be Girls aged 13+. This is evident through the colours chosen, which are stereotypically feminine. The information given about the contents is crisp, clear and to the point and doesn’t ramble on. The Masthead is on the opposite side to the actual contents, and contrasts to the lighter gradient of the background, the italics and underlining also draws attention towards it.
4. The target audience based on appearance among other factors would be pupils/students of both genders aged 15+ who want help on revision for exams among other such things. The images on both halves promote studying and schoolwork, therefore it appeals to students, teachers and parents.
