1. Question 4 & 5 Who would be the audience for your media product and how did you attract / address your audience?
2. Who is my audience? My target audience is young children or teenagers age 11- 15. I wanted my magazine to be unisex but after having thought about certain aspect of my magazine I think that it would be more popular with girls. Obviously certain age groups will have different interest and it is important to understand and identify who my audience is in order to have the correct content. For example an elderly person is less likely to be interested in celebrity gossip than say a younger female.
3. 11- 15 years When I chose this age group i tried to think of what other things I was interested when I was this age. IT was apart of growing that all girls love. They have fun and can be stereotypically ‘girly’. Things like clothes make up and boys are normally popular in a social life of a young girl and so I tried to include these with the pop music theme in my magazine. At this age it is all about having fun. I made sure that the girls on my front cover were just above the target audience ages so that they could potentially be a role model figure. Also you will notice the body language of them is smiling and pulling faces this indicates that the readers will relate to this and also have a little sense of immaturity and more relaxed attitudes.
4. Colours Bright colour clearly grab peoples attention and younger people are drawn to colourful things. For these reasons I chose to use pink purples, yellow and blues. Pink especially is often associated with girls so I chose to use this for the front cover to help establish who i want to buy my magazine.
5. Layout The flat plan of my pages in my magazine have changed due to my audience. After comparing my magazine to a real pop magazine I decided that there was too many tag lines and pictures on the front cover so I decided to keep it minimal. However I thought it should still contain information scattered on the page instead as it still looks filled but then the younger readers don't struggle to take everything in at once.
6. I have also used bright colour that I hope will attract my younger audience. The body language I have chosen for my magazine all are smiling and positive pictures. Here you can see I have used similar layout however as I mentioned before I think mine is a lot clearer and easier to read because there is less crammed on the page. Using plugs /puffs also means that the different shapes are more interesting to look at for my readers rather than a plain square box.
