4. MUNICIPAL WASTE
Municipal solid waste consists of household
waste, construction and demolition debris, and
waste from streets. This garbage is generated
mainly from residential and commercial
complexes. With rising urbanization and change
in lifestyle and food habits, the amount of
municipal solid waste has been increasing
rapidly.
5. HAZARDOUS WASTE
Industrial and hospital waste is considered
hazardous as they may contain toxic substances.
Industrial waste is the waste produced by industrial activity
which includes any material that is useless during a
manufacturing process such as that of factories, industries, mills,
and mining operations.
6. BIOMEDICAL WASTE / INFECTIOUS WASTE
Hospital waste is generated during the diagnosis, treatment, or
immunization of human beings or animals or in research
activities in these fields or in the production or testing of
biologicals. It may include wastes like sharps, disposables,
discarded medicines, chemical wastes, etc. These are in the form
of disposable syringes, swabs, bandages, body fluids etc. This
waste is highly infectious and can be a serious threat to human
health if not managed in a scientific manner.

8. RESIDENTAL WASTE
Solid waste of garbage and rubbish (such as bottles, cans,
clothing, disposables, food packaging, food scraps, newspapers
and magazines,) that originates from private homes or

9. COMMERCIAL WASTE
Commercial waste consists of waste mainly form the general
purposes of a business or trade or for the purpose of recreation,
education, sport, or entertainment. It does not include household,
agricultural, or industrial waste.

A treatment plant refers to a plant or installation
that is used to purify contaminated substances.
These substances may be solid, liquid and semi-
solids.
12. AGRICULTURAL
Agricultural waste is waste produced as a result
of various agricultural operations. It includes
wastes from farms, poultry houses , harvest waste
etc.
