2. I will use this blue screen as a background on my front cover as I can change it to any colour
that I like. The colour that I will most likely use will be white. The reason as to why I will use
a white background on the front cover is because the model will be wearing all black clothes
which will represent the grungy genre of rock. The white background will emphasis the
model on the front cover. The white background and the black clothes can represent to the
audience that rock people use and wear these colours very often. Stereotypically in rock
magazines the backgrounds are not crowded, and the background on my front cover will be
blank which conform with the usual conventions.
3. I have chosen the staircase as one of
my locations for my magazine as it
looks very grungy and gives of a
metal vibe which represents the rock
genre. Also, I may use this location on
my contents page with one of my
models sitting on of on the steps.
Many rock magazines put models on
staircases and take pictures of them.
The staircase seems more masculine
and if I use a female model then it will
subvert the usual stereotype. It can
convey to us that females are taking
on masculine traits by using this
location.
4. I may use this grey background as
it gives off a very metal like vibe
and it conforms with the rock
genre. I may use this location on
the contents page or the double
page spread. This background
represents the rough background
of rock fans. This is because there
are scratches on the metal, which
convey to us rebelliousness. Also,
this type of vandalism is usually
done by teenage boys. However,
when I place a female in front of
the metal it will shock the
audience as they wouldn’t think
that a female would be in this type
of location and this subverts the
usual stereotypes.
5. I may use this brick wall as it fits the
genre of Rock. This wall is bland and
doesn’t have much colour and it
represents the dullness and darkness of
the rock genre. Stereotypically males will
be pictured in front of this wall, however
I will use a female model which subverts
usual stereotypes. The model will be
wearing black clothes in front of this
wall. I will conform to the rock genre
with this background but I will subvert
by using a female model. Also, this wall
gives off a urban vibe. The model that I
may use will be from an ethnic minority
which will subvert the usual stereotypes
as in Rock magazine white males are
used. However, I will be using a female
who is muslim.
