Project title:
The verbal code WHITE NOISE connotes to the reader of a simple magazine but
still has all the information that you want to see in a rock music magazine.
Project:
Project Description:
In this project I will be creating my own music magazine based on an existing
music magazine. My magazine will be from the rock genre and based around
“KERRANG!” magazine.
Photographer:
For the photos I will be taking them myself. This will be easy as I will be able to
move the models into the position I think will look best.
I will mainly be using eye level shots. Also I hope to use mid shots so I can see the
waist up. This is so you can still see their poses and also the facial expression, so
the models are not too far away.
I will be using natural lighting for all of my photos. This is so you can see the
facial expressions of the models.
Reference images and ideas:
This is one style I would like to have on my front cover. I
got this inspiration from the magazine that has inspired
me. I would want a band so I could have them standing
with one or two in front and then the rest behind. This
will connote to the reader of the main people in this
band.
In this project I will be designing my own music magazine front cover, contents
page and double page spread. The genre I will be designing for will be the rock
genre. I hope to base my magazine on the successful features and images
presented in a KERRANG! Magazine.

This is the same magazine that inspired me when
creating my own magazine. Here is another style of
images that I could use in my own magazine. I like the
idea of having only one band member on the front cover.
This connotes to the reader that the magazine is going to
be mainly about this person.
This is a DPS from my magazine of
inspiration; “KERRANG!” in this DPS the
majority of the page is covered by an image.
I like this idea and hope to include a similar
layout in my own magazine. This will give
the audience more too look at while they
read the story.
This is another “KERRANG!” DPS. I this DPS
the whole band are featured in the picture.
This is the same where the majority of the
pages are covered by an image. This gives
the reader something to look at while they
read the rest of the article.
Casting:
I will be using these sorts of models as they dress like someone from the rock
genre. This will help to convey the rock genre to the reader. I will be using full
body shots in order to catch there hole costume to help convey the rock genre.
Model requirements:
The type of people I would like to use should be tall.
I would prefer if they had a beard and tattoos but
this will be hard to find on a model.

Wardrobe and Look:
I would like them to be wearing dark clothes. The sort of clothes I hope my
intended artist to wear will be black skinny jeans, black shoes and maybe a grey,
black or white t-shirt.
Hair and Make up:
I would like my intended artist to have short hair on the sides and long hair on
the top. I don’t think I will be using make up as I don’t think it is as important as
the clothing.
Where:
I would like to just have a plain background for my main front cover image. This
is so it will be easy to remove the background and make it easier to position it on
the page.
For my DPS I hope to use a place where it gives off the idea of a rock genre. For
example a graffiti wall, or just a normal street. However I do like the idea of
having the complete opposite by having the main artist dressed in a suit and
being in a very posh area for example in front of a big house or sitting in a
armchair in a library.
When:
I hope to have my photo-shoot during the day on the 23rd February. This is so I
don’t have to bring any extra lights as I can use the natural lighting. This will also
help in seeing all there features. Also I will have the majority of the day to take a
lot of photos which will then give me a variety to choose from.
Permission
I have asked permission from my model I need for my magazine front cover and
contents page. They both agreed that it would be ok to use them in my magazine
