Workplace Intervention On Work Family Conflict
INTRODUCTION The increasing need for efficiency in a globalized economy has been challenging
for workers in general. Demanding supervisors, tough tasks and some organizational rules are often
seen as stressors by workers from different fields. Ethic organizations sought to improve the work
quality which leads to performance in many ways. Lawson et al. (2016), studied the impact of
workplace intervention on work family conflict. These authors found a positive effect of workplace
intervention on improving affective reactivity behavior to daily stressors. LePine, M. A., et al. (2015),
suggests that charismatic leader behaviors considered challenge stressors as more challenging, and
showed a tendency to react to it with superior performance. On the other hand, leader s charismatic
trait did not impact the way hindrance stressors were appraised. Stressors have been strongly
associated with bullying at the workplace (Reknes, Einarsen, Knardahl, Lau, 2014). Although recent
academic work has focused on negative stressors outcomes (Van Den Brande, Baillien, De Witte,
Vander Elst, Godderis, 2016), there is evidence that both adverse and constructive aspects of stressors
must be addressed (e.g., Boswell, Olson Buchanan, LePine, 2004; Cavanaugh, Boswell, Roehling,
Boudreau, 2000; LePine, Podsakoff, LePine, 2005). This work aims to clarify the extent to which
challenge and hindrance stressors affect performance and job satisfaction. I expect to find that

Persuasive Essay On Physical Education
In middle school today physical education is being looked upon as an elective class that is not very
important. Many school districts around america have decided to completely abolish or cut down time
of physical education, and also classes like music and art. For many years, kids in America began to
lose motivation in participating in physical education classes. Lack of physical activity in adolescents
has resulted in an increase of childhood obesity, and rules such as No Child Left Behind, which I will
speak briefly on later, does not help this issue. With evidence proving that physical activity improves
academic performance, we should necessary steps to make sure that it is taken seriously. With lack of
efforts put into making sure that physical fitness is important at a young age, research shows that this
mission is failing tremendously in some ways. Middle school students in America, being at a critical
age for developing these healthy habits, should take physical fitness much more seriously and learn
more about it at a young age due to massive obesity rate, and lack of motivation in students.
If physical fitness was taken seriously at young age then there would be a major change in the way
that children view physical fitness in america. In American physical fitness often is not made as big of
a priority as grades. Often times parents and teachers tell their children to focus on their academics,
but very seldom do they mention anything about physical fitness. In the

The Relationship Connecting the Sociology of Religion and...
Berger provides insight into the study of the sociology of religion. Berger is particularly interested in
the social construction of religion as perpetuated by humankind and the dichotomies of the secular and
the religious. As a component of social reality, religion, according to Peter Berger, is a dialectical
phenomenon (3). Society is a dialectic phenomenon in that it is a human product, and nothing but a
human product, that yet continuously acts back upon its producer. Society is a product of man.
Religion emerges out of human beings as part of an ordered and meaningful social reality and in turn,
humans emerge out of this socially constructed world. Berger parses the dialectical phenomenon into
three concepts: externalization, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ordered structure of culture becomes the ordered structure of individual human consciousness.
The languages, values, meanings, and institutions of society become the languages, values, meanings,
and institutions of the individual person. Through internalization, humans become a product of
society. By the ordering of experience, humanity imposes nomos, or meaningful order, upon the social
world by both objective by institutions and subjective by consciousness constructs. When this nomos
is instinctually assumed either cosmologically or anthropologically it is endowed with a stability
deriving from more powerful sources that the historical efforts of human beings (25). Humans have a
need for and impose nomos on their existence or reality. Without nomos people would perceive reality
to be anomic; it would lack order and meaning; it would be utter chaos. A central function of religion
is to protect the individual from anomy; religion makes reality ordered and understandable. Here
religion enters the social world as a human enterprise by which a sacred world is established. He
begins by examining the role of religion in the construction of the social world. Berger

Capital One Corporate Structure
Capital One is a banking company that is focused on credit cards and consumer loans. The company
also has some minor international operations in Canada and the UK, primarily in the credit card
business. The company breaks down its business as follows. Credit cards are the major source of
income, accounting for $10.4 billion in revenue, or 64% of the total revenue for the company.
Consumer banking accounts for 31% of the revenue, commercial banking a further 10% of the
revenue, and the company has negative revenue on other businesses. The credit card business is the
most profitable, generating $2.277 billion in profit, or 70% of the company s total net income.
Consumer banking accounted for 25% of total net income, while commercial banking accounted for
16% of total net income.
The company has recently made moves to build its retail banking business and its credit card business.
In 2012, Capital One completed the purchase of ING Direct USA, a deal that added $80 billion in
deposits to the company s balance sheet. It then added HSBC s US credit card business. This move
added $28 billion worth of credit card assets to the company s portfolio. These acquisitions were
substantial in nature $9 billion for ING and $31.3 billion for HSBC (No author, 2012). They indicate
that the primary focus for growth at Capital One is to build on its core businesses. Such expansion of
its two largest businesses indicates that Capital One is more interested in focus there than in

Observation Of A Local Outdoor Park
Observation of Setting:
The setting of my observation 2 took place in a local outdoor park. It was a new park that opened
maybe a few months ago down the street from my house, and you could easily tell that it was catered
towards the younger age group due to the safety mechanisms and the big, bright, and colorful designs.
I chose to observe the same child as I did last time, 3 year old Emmanuel. The observation took place
around the same time as observation 1, which is basically after his mother got off work and picked
him up for school. However, instead of observing little Emmanuel alone by himself, I was able to
observe him play in a group setting. Ironically, at the park there were about three other children his
age playing, a 1 year old who looked liked he was just learning to walk and struggling, an older child
who looked as if she was about 6 or 7 years old, and then the parents surrounding the edge of the park.
It was interesting to watch Emmanuel so cooperatively go with his mom, walk out the door, and pretty
much just follow the rules of what she wanted. He could obviously tell from her actions that they were
about to leave the house to go somewhere. It was as if he didn t really care; all he knew is that if mom
goes then I have to go and I have learned that s the way it is. At that moment he knew she was in
control. So I would say his attitude was very nonchalant. Then as we walked down the street with me
talking to his mom and her holding his hand, something

Black Texans Essay
When one thinks of African American history in the United States, images of slavery and the
antebellum south are what invariably come to mind. While these images are indeed apt and applicable
to understanding black history in the United States, as Alwyn Barr demonstrates in his text Black
Texans: A History of African Americans in Texas, 1528 1995, the history of African Americans in the
U.S. date farther back than slavery and encompasses regions other than what has become known as
the deep south.
Evaluating the book overall, it is evident that Barr s central purpose for writing the book was to make
clear how the black community and culture developed in Texas. While this is not implicitly stated, the
chronological context of the books ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because little historical discourse on blacks in Texas has been published, Barr must rely on primary
sources as his main focus for research. Although some secondary material is used, especially for
analysis of modern black communities in Texas, Barr widely utilizes primary information. Seeking to
assess the effectiveness of this method, it is evident that while some of the information presented in
the text is somewhat dry, primary source material was best suited to meet the author s objectives
overall. Because primary sources are the central focus of the work, the integrity of what Barr writes
cannot be refuted.
Examining how the book enhances the reader s understanding of Texas history, it could be asserted
that Barr s exposition provides a considerable amount of insight into the development not only of the
black community but also the development of the state in general. Barr shows that blacks played an
integral role in the development of Texas: a fact that is often overlooked by many historians. Even
though the book provides a considerable amount of insight, however, it is overall quite dry. As such,
the book would probably be useful for history students, graduate students and instructors looking to
discover more about Texas or black history.
Even though the text is dense at times, the author does a compelling job of presenting the

Garden Temptation, And Wrong Resolutions In The Bible
In Genesis, one learns how God created the earth, and tried to keep is as peaceful and pure as possible.
God faced many challenges in doing so, all requiring different resolutions, whether this meant
destroying cities, or banning Adam and Eve from Eden. Based on the constant display of human
weakness, apparent in many stories in the Bible, one can conclude humans are constitutionally born
flawed. Mankind has time and time again angered the Lord through acts of disobedience, temptation,
and jealousy.
When a human sees a task as unaccomplishable, there is an inexplicable drive to disobey, causing
humanity to be punished. The bible references disobedience many times, which can lead to unideal
situations for the individual. Eve was in the Garden ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes this attraction is extreme such as stealing, and sometimes it is an extreme act that causes
one to get killed. In the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, God was upset with the people s doings, so he
decided to wipe out the people and city as whole. He told Lot and Lot s family to run away and never
look back. Lot s wife was tempted to see what was going on behind her, so she looked back and turned
into a pillar of salt. But Lot s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt (Genesis.19.26). Lot s
wife was tempted to turn around, even though she was the purest person in the city. This story goes to
show that temptation is inevitable for every person. Esau was Isaac s favorite son, so when Isaac was
dying, he wanted to give Esau his last blessing. Isaac s wife overheard, and told Jacob to put skin in
his hands to make his blind father think he, Jacob, was Esau. That night Jacob stole Esau s blessing.
Jacob went near unto Isaac, his father; and felt him, and said, the voice is Jacob s voice, but the hands
are the hands of Esau (Genesis.27.22). When one is upset about not getting something, there is a
temptation to lie and sin. Temptation leads humankind to do immoral things, and go against what the
Lord has

Relationship Between A Manufacturer And A Distributor
Writing Assignment #2
The relationship between a manufacturer and a distributor is a crucial part in the success of a business
alliance or partnership. It is necessary to pay close attention to the relationship between manufacturers
and distributors in terms of trust, alliances and conflict. Manufacturers and distributors should select
each other appropriately and wisely because each member of the supply chain has different
expectations for the other. The most common two paths for a manufacturer to enter the market through
distribution are exclusively and non exclusively. Information on relations and channel paths is
significant because it will be easier be able to include them in my other projects and classes
throughout the rest of academic and professional careers.
The most vital concepts I learned in IDIS 340 is how important it is for manufacturers and distributors
to choose the right business partners. Market share is the main driver for manufacturers, so they must
turn their attention to distributors that have a wide range of access to the market. Profitability is the
primary focus of distributors so they should choose manufacturers that have a strong market brand,
supply the appropriate products to meet the market s demands, and offers a technical sales team.
Sharing common goals and visions is perhaps the most significant element in choosing how to align a
manufacturer and distributor.
After aligning with proper distributors, manufacturers have expectations that they

Pessimism In Clocks And Lovers By W. H. Auden
The world is full of optimistic people who have plenty of hope for the future, but it is also full of
pessimists who are there to bring those optimists back to earth. In Clocks and Lovers by W. H. Auden,
the clocks are the pessimists and the lover is the optimist. By using exaggerations and personification,
Auden contrasts the two personalities with an interesting twist. The optimistic lover floats high above
the clouds in a daydream of his own, saying his love will never end, while the clocks, or pessimists,
constantly remind him of reality. While the lover is under the illusion that love outlasts time, the
omniscient clocks ruin his fantasy with the reality that Time will always win in the end. W. H. Auden
uses personification in his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
W. H. Auden also uses personification with the lover in the fifth stanza, And the seven stars go
squawking / Like geese about the sky. These two lines are a simile as well as personification, but the
lover is still using personification to show his undying love toward his beloved. Later in the poem,
after the clocks have discouraged the lover with their harsh reality, the lover describes a glacier
knocking in the cupboard, a desert sighing in the bed, and a crack in the tea cup that opens up a lane to
the land of the dead. This stanza depicts part of an old and broken down house that is a symbol for his
dried out love. With the personification of the glacier and the desert, Auden gives the reader an idea of
a trapped glacier and a worn out desert that circles back to the love the lover used to have. At this
point, the clock s predictions have come true and the lover s love has dried out, just like the desert
mentioned in the poem. The glacier knocking in the cupboard represents the lover s trapped state in
the love he has promised would be forever. The clocks also use exaggeration to drive their point home.
By using hyperboles to push their reminder of death farther than is needed, the clocks force their point
into the lover s mind. The clocks remind the lover O let not time deceive you,

Essay on The Terri Schiavo’s Case Analysis
The Terri Schiavo s Case Analysis When a patient is unable to make decisions for himself or herself,
their caregivers and those who know them are appointed to make the decisions based on what the
patient would have wanted. This is called surrogate decision making. According to the article Terri

what that choice would have been, they may turn to the courts to determine either what the now
incapacitated patient would have chosen or who is best suited to choose as the patient would have

Michael Schiavo had done, I would fight to have the feeding tube removed. I believe that if a person
has no quality of life and is in a PVS state, they have no feelings, they feel no pain, and they are not
aware of their surroundings. According to the article Terri Schiavo and End of Life Decisions Terri
could not continue both to be alive and be free from invasive medical procedures (Mathes, 2005) I feel
keeping them alive is unfair to them and to their loved ones. I also believe that the surrogate decision
maker should follow the best interest standard, which is, given the medical facts and prognosis, make
decisions that would be in the best interests of the patient. (Hook Mueller, 2005) There was a lot of
evidence and proof from the doctors in regards to the fact that Terri was not going to get better, there
were no medical interventions left that could help her. Prolonging treatment for Terri would not have
changed her quality of life or made it better. In my opinion, Michael Schiavo acted properly as a
surrogate decision maker because first of all, he followed her previously spoken wishes and views
and, second of all, he acted in her

Lemonade Analysis
On April 24, 2016, Beyoncé Knowles Carter released her sixth studio album, Lemonade. This album
had no prior advertisement, yet still topped Billboard s top 100 chart, making it a promotional wonder.
Titled after the proverbial saying, If life gives you lemons, make lemonade, Lemonade was released as
a visual album in which each song was portrayed in a music video, and then later, collectively create a
larger storyline. Beyoncé explores themes of betrayal, anger, forgiveness, redemption, and celebration
through lyrics, spoken word, and cinematic elements. The opening song on the album titled, Pray You
Catch Me, introduces the theme of betrayal in its lyrics, You can taste the dishonesty. It s all over your
breath as you pass it off so cavalier... Prayin to catch you whispering, I m prayin you catch me
listening. In these lines, she is singing of a lover s infidelity which sets the scene for the songs that
follow. Next on the tracklist, is Hold Up. She begins the track with spoken word in which she says, I
grew thickened skin on my feet, I bathed in bleach... but still inside me, coiled deep, was the need to
know ... Are you cheating on me? She proceeds to write to her lover, that his infidelity was a wicked
way to treat the girl that loves you. In the following songs titled Don t Hurt Yourself, Sorry, Daddy

Auguste Comte s Sociological Approach To The Scientific...
Sociology is the study of human social relationships and institutions and the study of social problems.
Sociology investigates the social causes and consequences of such things as prejudice and
discrimination. Auguste Comte first used the term sociology in 1838 to refer to the scientific study of
society. He argued that society needs scientific knowledge based on facts and evidence to solve its
problems. Spencer suggested that society will correct its own defects through the natural process of
survival of the fittest. Marx claimed that social conflict, especially class conflict, and competition
mark all societies. Durkheim stressed the importance of studying social facts or patterns of behavior
characteristic of a particular group. He advocated the use of systematic observation to study
sociological events, but he also recommended that sociologists avoid considering people s attitudes
when explaining society. Weber argued that sociologists must also take into account people s
interpretations of events; not just the events themselves. He believed that sociologists must inquire
about people s thoughts, feelings, and perceptions regarding their own behaviors. These Sociologists
were the main players during the 19th and 20th century, and their prior work led to the development of
Sociology in America. Sociologists throughout the decades have sought to develop a scientific
approach to the study and resolve such issues as prejudice and discrimination. Early

Political Parties in the United States
There are numerous political parties in the United States and they all have no strict requirements for
membership. That means whatever group you want to belong to you can. There are also no
membership lists that are maintained. Some of the ways to determine party affiliation comes from
voting surveys and public opinion polls. The majority of voters in America consider themselves to be
Democrats. Party identification does not mean that who is you will vote for. There are several
Democrats who will vote for Republicans in the presidential election. This is much more common in

This party was established in the 1790 s. The Democratic Republicans were led by Thomas Jefferson
and supported a weak central government. They believed that the states and citizens should retain the
rights and powers and that the constitution should be strictly interpreted. Jefferson was president from
1801 to 1809. The National Republican Party arose when the Democratic Republican Party split
during John Quincy Adam s presidency from 1825 to 1829. The split pitted the party against the
followers of Andrew Jackson. During this time other groups formed the Whig Party. Andrew Jackson
was elected president in 1828. Most historians regard the campaign organization of Jackson as the

1830.
The Democratic Party is the oldest existing political party in the United States. It is said to have began

The Importance Of Technology In The Organization
The world we live in today is more complicated, competitive and technologically advanced, and there
is always a demand for resource and if the existing resources are not utilized properly it leads to poor
results. Technology is a component that can be used for the productive use of resources. But
employees in the organization often resist adapting to technology. Introducing new technology and
tools into an organization can increase productivity, boost sales, and help you make better, quicker
decisions however getting every employee adjust to the change in technology is often a challenge.
Organization very constantly face the challenge of adapting themselves to the technology and it
depends on its employees to overcome the change and employees need the stimulation to adapt to the
change and this reminds me of a famous quote You can t build an adaptable organization without
adaptable people and individuals change only when they have to, or when they want to (Gary Hamel).
As per Gary Hamel individuals only change when they have to or when they want to and Motivation
is a factor that can drive individuals to change or adapt to technology. Motivation is the key ingredient
to bring about a change in the employees which can lead to the success of an organization.
Organizations even though they have all the technical skills, will not be successful if they are not able
to motivate their team to take up change. The manager or leader or the organization should have the

Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, details the effects of excessive ambition coupled with paranoia
through the tale of a heroic fighter, who forced his way to the position of king. As Macbeth and Lady

After Macbeth murdered King Duncan, paranoia quietly started creeping in. He thought that he heard

The untreated conditions that pathological gamblers have may compound an unfortunate situation. Not

Next, Bingo and lotteries are forms of gambling. Neither makes the effort to help addicts the way

Comparing The Medieval Warm Period And The Little Ice Age
Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age
The Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age share a few common denominators. They were
both caused partly by the ocean currents changing, and both of these events occurred in the northern
hemisphere. The Little Ice Age was considered to be harsh , having the winters last for long a period
of times, and the summers cool and wet, whereas the Medieval Warm Period was considered to be a
more difficult time to describe, considering that there has not been much research done about it.
The Medieval Warm Period took place during 800 AD to 1400 AD. Researchers speculate that the
Medieval Warm Period had a higher than average solar radiation and less volcanic activity during that
time period. This same evidence is also suggesting that changes in ocean circulation patterns caused a
change in temperature (cooler to warmer) in the ocean water. This brought warmer currents into the
North Atlantic (Climate Science Glossary).
In this current time period, our planetary temperatures have been far warmer than any record has
shown in the past two thousand years. However, evidence also suggests that some places were very
much cooler than today including the tropical pacific. When the warm places are averaged out with

This means that these results are not conclusive enough to make a general, overall statement regarding
the temperatures during the Medieval Warm Period. However, these results have been accurate for
determining temperatures during that specific time period and at that specific location, giving
researchers a step in the right direction. They will soon be able to determine temperatures across the
Northern Hemisphere, so they can determine the effects of the Medieval Warm Period and better
predict what might occur in the future temperature wise based upon the effects of human and non

Intellectual And Moral Education In Huck Finn
For my second journal, I took the time to look and I chose to analyze and observe intellectual and
moral education as another important theme to the story. Just for a recap/refresh, as the story of Huck
Finn begins, If taken a closer look into education in Huck Finn, it can be observed that this story fits
perfectly in the genre listed; bildungsromans. Huck finn fits perfect in the bildungsromans genre
because of many reasons. A bildungsromans is a novel that depicts a(an) individual(s) development
into maturing. Taking into account of his past, Huck is a poor and very uneducated orphan child who
is treated as an outcast. Due to the mistreatment of Huck, because of his peers, he did not trust any of
the others. This is also because they

Prostate Cancer In Family
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, in both Western developed countries
and worldwide (Ferlay 2008). It is a cancer that is only limited to males, as only males have prostate
glands. The exact etiology is still unknown; however, it is thought to be a multifactorial disease with
inherited genetics playing a major role (Xu 2013). Particularly, people with fathers and brothers with
prostate cancer are at increased risk for developing it themselves. Other male relatives have also
shown a linkage, especially if the relative was diagnosed young (Al Olama AA 2014). This report

These studies compare allele/genotype frequencies of SNPs between population cases and controls.
The low penetrance genes of prostate cancer found are the following: Amundadottir and colleagues
found a loci at 8q24 (Amundadottir 2006) with the strongest associated SNP as rs1447295 with a
relative risk (RR) for prostate cancer estimated at 1.72. This finding was later corroborated with the
results of the first two GWAS of prostate cancer in May 2007 (Amundadottir 2006 Gudmundsson
2007). These initial GWAS studies analyzed 550,000 SNPs across the genome in cases and controls of
European origin nested from the Cancer Genetic Markers of Susceptibility (Gudmundsson 2007).
Yeager and colleagues confirmed the prostate cancer association with rs1447295 and identified
another independent association at 8q24 (rs6983267). The estimated RRs were 1.26 and 1.58 for
heterozygous and homozygous carriers, respectively (Yeager 2007). Gudmundsson and colleagues
identified another new prostate cancer association at 8q24 (rs16901979). The estimated RR was 1.79

four novel loci at 7p15, 10q11, 10q26 and 11q13 (Thomas 2008).

Essay about Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan was one of the most influential presidents in American history; yet he is one of the
least talked about in present day history books. President Reagan was not an Ivy League rich kid or
raised in a politically motivated family. He was a midwestern boy who played football and worked his
way through college. President Reagan had visions for the future of this country. Reagan realized he
wanted to lead the country during his time working in California, in the Screen Actor s Guild. He was
bothered by the spread of communism in Hollywood. He took over the Presidency in 1980 after four
years of the most awful leadership this country has ever had. Just as he swore in his campaign, he

Alternative proposals were defeated in both the House and the Senate. Many people in Washington,
liberal and conservative realized they were not playing with the do nothing idiot they had
preconceived. In author Ronnie Dugger s book, critical of Reagan, it was said, quot;no ordinary
person could have achieved what Reagan has quot;. Reagan s school of thought was to combine two
basic theories, the monetarist and supply side. Monetarists believe in taking money out of the
economy and making it worth more, where supply side is to lower taxes and free up more buying
power. In 1981 taxes would be reduced twenty five percent, which in turn freed up buying power.
Reagan s belief that higher tax forces people invest money in tax shelters instead of the economy was
the backbone of his campaign. This was later called quot;Reaganomics quot;. This concept of buying
power in the 1980s has left historians to say it was a time of greed and arrogance. It was quot;a golden
age for financial wheeling and dealing, quot;(Krugman 23). The guilty feeling left looks at the decade

Theme Of Dichotomy In Jane Eyre
Charlotte Brontë s Jane Eyre, has not only been interpreted as a novel advocating Victorian
conventional norms, but one that exercises the fiery act of female rebellion against hypocritical,
patriarchal oppression. With reference to the quotation provided, along with additional extracts from
the text, the angelic representation of Jane Eyre along with the demonic demonstration of Bertha
Rochester, informed by the angel demon dichotomy, is not only significant in terms of the language
and imagery used to portray the female binary, but the source from which the representation is
derived, particularly Mr Rochester and Jane herself. Themes concerning the challenging of patriarchal
oppression for the purpose of achieving female individualism, places the absolutism of the Victorian
angel demon dichotomy under threat. Central to the attainment of self identification, is the ability to
have a voice, of which Bertha has none, emphasising a rupture within the sustainability of the feminist
narrative, from a postcolonial perspective.

Fair Trade Is An Organized Social Movement
Introduction:
Fair trade is an organized social movement. Its goal is to carry out trade under commercial agreements
where producers achieve better trading conditions and sustainability by setting minimum prices at
which distributors can sell their products. The movement is focused mainly on products that are made
and exported from developing nations to developed ones. Most commonly products and commodities
such as coffee, sugar, tea, honey, cotton, cocoa, gold and fruits etc from countries like India, Brazil,
Sri Lanka and African nations.
The following report looks at what the concept of Fair Trade means and the impact that it has on
producers, communities and the environment. It then proceeds on to the demographics regarding
consumers of fair trade products, who they are and what sort of products do they prefer most. It shall
look at why they do or do not opt for fair trade products and will provide advice to retailers on how to
improve sales of fair trade goods with a recommendation at end for people on how to do their part in
promoting the fair trade cause.
According to Fairtrade.org.uk;
Fair trade is about better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and
workers.
It s about supporting the development of thriving farming and worker communities that have more
control over their futures and protecting the environment in which they live and work.

Pros And Cons Of Standardized Testing
My personal interest in this controversial topic
Since Middle School, I was not opposed to standardized testing. I thought of it as a way of testing us
of what we have learned. Although, after reading some articles about standardized testing I am re
thinking the pros and cons. From personal experience, I thought of it as a challenge to pass them. But
now that reminisce about it, I noticed some of the cons of standardized testing. I remember having a
week or two dedicated for testing, and in case of students failing they had to take time to redo it. It
would take a while for all the students to finish their tests. And after remembering how it was back in
those times I was more on the opposed side.

Parents oppose the standardized tests because they can cause stress and anxiety to their children.
Students disagree with many tests because it can cost them admission to a university, or passing to the
next grade. Teachers oppose the tests because it takes too much time. They have to teach their students
what is going to be on the test. Also, the schools and teachers lose funding depending on the results.
What warrants (assumptions) will you imply or state? Why?
First, I will state that standardized testing is not helping education in the United States. This will be
stated first because it will clarify my topic.
Secondly, I will imply that there are other ways education in the United States could improve without
the use of standardized testing.
Can you maintain an open mind and reverse your views if you come across information you hadn t
anticipated?
If I find, research about why standardized testing has helped improve the education in the United
States; and, if there is information on how it has helped students progress over time. I would be open
to information that could counter my claims.
What qualifiers will you include in your claim to make it more reasonable and manageable?
One qualifier I will use is standardized testing improving the US education? This will qualify the US
education. Also using qualifiers like there are many students that are opposed to standardized testing. I
will also be using some teachers and parents also oppose

A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery O’Connor Essay
In the short story A Good Man Is Hard to Find, written by Flannery O Connor, the theme that the
definition of a good man is mysterious and flawed is apparent. The reader must realize that it is
difficult to universalize the definition of a good man because every person goes through different
experiences. Thus, these experiences affect his or her viewpoint and in turn flaw ones view on a good
man. O Connor conveys this theme through her excellent use of diction, imagery, foreshadowing, and
symbolism as well as through a creative use of repetition and an omniscient point of view. The
grandmother, the main character of the story, is manipulative. Her definition of a good man refers to
the characteristics that a good man should possess. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She [the grandmother] pointed out interesting details of the scenery: Stone Mountain, the blue granite
that in some places came up to both sides of the highway; the brilliant red clay banks slightly streaked
with purple; and the various crops that made row of green lace work on the ground. The trees were full
of silver white sunlight and the meanest of them sparkled. (1286) She uses informal diction to help
achieve the targeted theme and her slight use of a southern dialect is one brilliant component that
helps her to do so. For example, when the family stops for barbecue sandwiches along their way to
Tennessee, the owner s wife compliments the granddaughter. Ain t she cute? Red Sam s wife said,
leaning over the counter. Would you like to come be my little girl? (1287). Adding this southern twist
of diction as well as the southern setting helps to illustrate the culture the grandmother was raised in.
This helps to bridge the gap between what the reader s definition of a good man may be, based off of
their cultural upbringing, and the grandmother s definition of a good man. This gap reinforces the O
Conner s idea that there cannot be a universal definition of a good man. Imagery is used flawlessly in
this short story. O Connor uses descriptive adjectives fairly often to paint a picture in the reader s mind
and to add spice to her

Different fashions will come in and out of style but people want to be able to stand out in their own
manner showing the world how they express themselves. A common form of self expression is by
getting a piercing or tattoo, something that can set a person apart from the majority. Body piercings
and tattoos on women at one time were unacceptable and distasteful in the United States. However
over time women having assorted types of body art has become more acceptable in society. Today
young women at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, use piercings and tattoos as a form of
self expression that is vastly encouraged by peers and social media. Each woman has a different
reason for why they personally want a piercing or a tattoo but are there some factors that have
influenced the college community of women as a whole?

who experiences challenging and questionable events in the mid stage of his adolescence. Holden
wants to protect the innocent children like the catcher in the rye from the immorality and corruptness
of the phony adult world. In Cervantes work, Don Quixote is the idealistic protagonist who sets out to

of signs just like that one in the world. There was no way he could eradicate all of them. Even in the
peace of the Egyptian tomb room at the museum there is a fuck you written in crayon. At this point, he
is hopeless and realizes that his dreams are unattainable.
In the carousel scene with Phoebe Holden reluctantly accepts the fact that everyone loses his or her

Although Holden is afraid that she will fall off the horse, he realizes that he can t stop her. He states,
The thing is with kids is; if they want to grab for the gold ring, you have to let them do it and not say

Similarly, Cervantes Don Quixote portrays an idealistic protagonist who sets out to transform the
world in accordance to his medieval vision. The novel opens by briefly describing the main character s

Analysis Of The Sound Of Silence
Since its release on December 22nd of 1967, the Graduate has become an iconic piece of cinematic
art. Like most art, the Graduate has the curse of being easily misunderstood, and is much deeper than
one would recognize at first glance. With a haunting soundtrack from Simon Garfunkel, including the
well known song The Sound of Silence, the tone of the movie is extremely melancholy and saturated
with the uncertainty and sadness of someone who is unsure of what their future holds.
Ben, the main character, has recently graduated and is facing the great unknown of life after college.
Ben is an extremely relatable character, especially to people with introverted tendencies, right off the
bat. His avoidance of extravagant parties and attention is comical, at least to me, because of how true
it is in my own life. He has an endearing awkwardness to him, but it can also feel quite uncomfortable
to watch him struggle through social interaction if one suffers from secondhand embarrassment. The
crippling uncertainty about what he wants to do with his life causes Ben to spend his summer laying in
the pool, drinking heavily, and engaging in an affair with the wife of his father s business partner Mrs.
Robinson.
Ben s affair sends him into an intense bout of alienation, making him easily irritable and distant from
his parents. When he does interact with them, he faces their poking and prodding to figure out if he is

While the Dalai Lama remained in Tibet, his life was at stake. Tibet slowly went into a cataclysmic
effect of destruction and disorder. The freedom of speech was now lost to the Tibetan people, freedom

In the past there have been people that have had theories that relate to child development and learning
of children in childcare settings; these people are known as educational pioneers and are well
respected as their theories have changed childcare for the better (Meggitt et al, 2011).
Friedrich Froebel (1782 1852), the great German educator, is famous pre eminently for his radical
insight that the first learning experiences of the very young are of crucial importance in influencing
not only their later educational achievements but also the health and development of society as a
whole (Weston, 1998).
Friedrich Froebel had the idea that children learn best through play and by having real experiences and
from these theories he was the founder of the first ever kindergarten in 1840 (Meggitt et al, 2011).
Following the theory that children learn best through play, Frobel introduced toys that he called,
Froebel Gifts or gaben which included balls, wooden blocks, rings, tiles and sticks which were all the
key elements of Froebel s kindergarten (Watson, 2002).
Froebel s ideas are very similar to those that construct the EYFS that all childcare providers use today.

Of the many stories he writes the tale told by the Wife of Bath is the most verbal and for its time the

My Career Story Interview, Jordan Scheller
The career I choose to do my Career Story Interview, which I m interested in doing, was Web
Developer. Technically, the person that I interview, Jordan Scheller, is officially a Software Developer,
but he creates/maintains websites which is what Web Developers do. So to be completely clear, the
career I will be investigating is Web Developer.
With that out of the way, let s talk about everything that has to do with a Web Developer. According to
a website called O*NET, the Strong Interest Inventory for this job is CIR, Conventional, Investigative
and Realistic. Conventional is ranked number one based on the nature to which programming
happens. In programming, you know where you start and where you end. You might think you have a
large amount of freedom to get to the endpoint, but in reality there only a few, if not just one way of
solving the problem. So in the job, it s the repetition of finding the problem, identifying the end, and
following the set path to which solves the problem. Investigative is second on the list and this deals
with the ever evolving principle of the job. Since programming is relatively new, the area is evolving
at an incredible pace and you must keep up with it. You must learn the new information, master it, and
then finish your project before anyone else does. The final interest is Realistic and it relates to the
atmosphere of the work environment. You do not work on theoretical ideas; you work on projects that
deals with people s interactions in

An Insider Of The Subculture Know Hip Hop
In my room took place a meeting with a friend of mine that consider himself an insider of the
subculture know as hip hop. Quin Smith is a 24 year old African American male employee at Geico,
as a Sales Representative and close friend. He is 5 2, with short wavy black hair, that typically wear
collar t shirts, dark blue jeans, and his favorite pair of white shoes. Now, to you he may seem like a
short nerd with no life (lol) but, not true. I mean, he is a nerd, but a handsome vibrant nerd that loves
to have fun
At the age of eleven Mr. Smith started listening to hip hop music after purchasing his first silver CD
player. One of his first CD s was Eve second album Scorpion followed by engaging with other artists
like Biggie, Nelly, Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, and Ja Rule.
The interview process didn t start out how most people would expect. Quin is an energetic, loud, and
very opinionated, person. So going into the interview I knew I was getting some real answers along
with a few jokes on the side. I started off asking Quin numerous times are you ready, now remind you
we talked about this interview a few hours early, so he replies for what, I mentioned the interview. He
goes off and say, oh yeah, I forgot. Typical Quin, to forget.
Before getting into the more in depth questions, I wanted to see if Quin considered himself a part of
hip hop subculture and why? So, after I cleared my voice around several times, I asked my first
question. Do you consider yourself a part of the

Examples Of Bird Symbolism In Macbeth
Samantha Xing pd 1
Ms Dwyer
Bird, Bird, Bird, Bird is the Word
Birds such as pigeons may be insignificant to New Yorkers, but other species are symbolic in cultures
elsewhere. They are often used in literature metaphorically to represent someone or something. A
prominent example of bird symbolism is in the famous play, Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare where
Juliet is associated with the dove to represent her purity and innocence. Shakespeare also utilizes bird
symbolism in another play, Macbeth, to emphasize how Macbeth changes throughout the play and to
foreshadow Duncan s death.
Shakespeare uses bird symbolism to highlight how Macbeth changes throughout the play. In the
beginning of the play, Shakespeare depicts Macbeth with positive attributes. ... Show more content on

Lady Macbeth foreshadows the death of Duncan by saying, The raven himself is hoarse / That croaks
the fatal entrance of Duncan / Under my battlements (1.5.45 47). Here, Lady Macbeth compares the
messenger to a raven , saying that his voice is hoarse . In some cultures, the raven is believed to smell
death before the occurrence of death. In deeper context, Lady Macbeth is saying that the voice of the
raven is hoarse as a result of mimicking the same words over and over again that imply Duncan s
death. Because the raven has the ability to smell death, a conclusion can be made that Duncan s death
is inevitable. Another example of foreshadowing through the use of birds is in the conversation
between Ross and an old man. The old man says, On Tuesday last / A falcon, towering in her pride of
place, / Was by a mousing owl hawk d at and kill d (2.4.14 16). This means that last Tuesday, a falcon
was flying around a place where she thought was safe but an unexpected owl killed her. The falcon
represents Duncan who sees Macbeth as his loyal subject and makes an assumption that Macbeth s
home is safe. However, Macbeth, represented by the owl, murders him and takes away his power and
throne, or metaphorically, the falcon s pride of place

Does Franchise Quarterback Wins
Introduction: In the NFL, there is a general consensus that the Quarterback is the most important
position on the field. For the most part, wins and losses are both attributed to the quarterback. Thus, it
is imperative for teams to find a Franchise Quarterback to build their team around. With such
importance being placed on one position, it can be easy to put more pressure one quarterbacks than
they actually deserve. In this study, I wanted to determine if the quarterback really does hold the key
to winning. Is there a link between how well your quarterback plays and how many games the team
wins? Additionally, I included statistics on the defense and the running game for an overall picture of
what impacts the win percentage the most. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The variables regarding the quarterback were averaged over the number of games the quarterback
started. In contrast, the remaining two variables (defensive YPG and running YPG) were averaged
over the full 16 game season. My dependent variable was the win percentage for however many
games the quarterback played. My data had 201 observations, going back 5 years (from the 2010
season to the 2015 season). My original model was able to pass most of the assumptions but not all.
The error terms were normal (Figure 1) and there were no serious outliers, multicollinearity, or
autocorrelation. However, the scatter plot of the predicted Y values and the residuals showed signs of
heteroscedasticity, depicted in Figure 2. Given that, I transformed my dependent variable by squaring
the values of the dependent variables. This corrected the heteroscedasticity, as shown in Figure 3 and
the error terms still followed a normal distribution, as given by Figure 4. My final model now checked
off all of the assumptions and I could move forward. My analysis of the data suggests that the
touchdown to interception ratio had the greatest effect on the win percentage. I had predicted that
defensive YPG would have the greatest impact on win percentage but it was actually the touchdown to
interception ratio. Also, the coefficient for defensive yards allowed was negative as I predicted.
However, the coefficient for the

My Goals And Goals Essay On Life Goals

Life Goals
Goals are important because goals open a path to where a person is going and wants to achieve in life.
Also, goals can help a person to stay focus on things that I want to have in the future. A goal to get an
education is essential in life for it can lead to a prosperous future. To have a secure life after college, I
will need to get a stable job. Being part of a community, I would want to send awareness to the young
adults on doing the right things. The goals I want to achieve are to earn a college degree that I am
happy to have, have a job that will help me get the life that I want, and to help young adults to make
the right decisions.
My primary goal is to earn a degree that I am happy to have. The degree that I would want to have is
bachelor s in computer science because ever since I was a kid, I have always admired computers.
Growing up I have been more attached to computers, and I am inspired to know more about
computers such as how to solve technical problems or create applications for better efficiency.
Knowing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A degree in computer science would make me happy because I have always loved computers. A job
that can grant me the things that I want and need. Being able to help young adults make the right
decisions are just as important because it can lead to a brighter future. Knowing what I want to
achieve gives me assurance in life, but I can only accomplish it if I work hard for it. Goals are a path
to accomplishing dreams that person desires to have. I believe that anyone can achieve their goals by
being positive through good or bad times, sacrificing something for better future, changing is also a
part of reaching a person s dream. Goals are a reminder to everyone on what they must

The Reason I Decided On What My Major Will Be
The reason I decided on what my major will be When I started college, my mind decided that I wanted
to study pre veterinary. I thought that it was my calling and was what I was meant to do in life. I
realized through many different activities and events in college, that I had a calling for something else.
I joined a campus ministry called The Navigators and started to disciple under one of the leaders
named Josh Lashbrook. We started to meet one day a week, so he could teach me and start to mold me
into a leader. He taught me different religious tools and techniques on how to talk to people and
sharing the word of God. When I first started to have meeting with him, I did not have a lot of
knowledge on speaking with others and trying to convey a good message. I went in the commons and
started to go around with him and sit with random strangers. Some of them were believers in our
religion, believers in a different religion, or not believers at all. It was cool to see the differences
between everyone and see how many actually have things in common.
Josh taught me that when I talked to people, do not use only emotions because sometimes people can
feel what you feel and can take it as a negative or positive meaning to what you are trying to say. He
also taught me that you have to have an attitude that ensembles a good and positive way of life. I
learned that doing it by yourself is hard when you have little skill or knowledge on what needs to be
done. By joining the

The Culture Of A City
After looking at all of the issues that will affect the people in the city, we must also look at the impact
on the city as a whole. Seattle is known to have a new, hip culture for the younger generation and it s
something that should be preserved. People rely on this unique culture and lifestyle, not corporate
expansion or new offices, to lead a city to success (Kotkin, 2016, p. 38). With higher end housing, it
will attract wealthier, educated individuals who will fulfill the employee demand Amazon is searching
for. Most people go to a city for opportunity, cultural inspiration, and a sense of identity and it s
essential for a city to retain these attributes (Kotkin, 2016, p. 63). But like how Ramos stated, it ll be
harder for a city to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are the newly educated, wealthy, ready to work population that gets attracted by companies and
by what a city can offer, such as food, social scene, and lifestyle. I think it s important to address that
Boston has a large variety of people due to all of the colleges located in the city. There is already a
creative class ready to live and work after their college education, but just not necessarily in Boston.
Why are these smart and young individuals leaving the city? Well, there are a lot of reasons, but
mainly because of the housing. It is hard for these graduates to afford these apartments, nonetheless
houses, at such a young age while still trying to find a job. Like Jesse Mermell, president of a business
group Alliance for Business Leadership, says, Our No. 1 resource in Massachusetts is our talent our
brainpower, and we are losing the brains because people can t afford to live here (Kirsner, 2017).
Clearly, being able to retain these people is hard for the city. Having Amazon settle in Boston might
only lead to more of these individuals leaving for good and never coming back. The creative class is
essential for a city s culture and growth, so the city must find a way to make them stay.
Of course, I don t agree that Amazon is the sole culprit of these results, the city is also to blame, as
Bertolet, a senior researcher at the Seattle think tank Sightline, also claims (Ramos, 2017). People
believe that modern, affordable housing and

  • 2. Workplace Intervention On Work Family Conflict INTRODUCTION The increasing need for efficiency in a globalized economy has been challenging for workers in general. Demanding supervisors, tough tasks and some organizational rules are often seen as stressors by workers from different fields. Ethic organizations sought to improve the work quality which leads to performance in many ways. Lawson et al. (2016), studied the impact of workplace intervention on work family conflict. These authors found a positive effect of workplace intervention on improving affective reactivity behavior to daily stressors. LePine, M. A., et al. (2015), suggests that charismatic leader behaviors considered challenge stressors as more challenging, and showed a tendency to react to it with superior performance. On the other hand, leader s charismatic trait did not impact the way hindrance stressors were appraised. Stressors have been strongly associated with bullying at the workplace (Reknes, Einarsen, Knardahl, Lau, 2014). Although recent academic work has focused on negative stressors outcomes (Van Den Brande, Baillien, De Witte, Vander Elst, Godderis, 2016), there is evidence that both adverse and constructive aspects of stressors must be addressed (e.g., Boswell, Olson Buchanan, LePine, 2004; Cavanaugh, Boswell, Roehling, Boudreau, 2000; LePine, Podsakoff, LePine, 2005). This work aims to clarify the extent to which challenge and hindrance stressors affect performance and job satisfaction. I expect to find that Organizational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Physical Education In middle school today physical education is being looked upon as an elective class that is not very important. Many school districts around america have decided to completely abolish or cut down time of physical education, and also classes like music and art. For many years, kids in America began to lose motivation in participating in physical education classes. Lack of physical activity in adolescents has resulted in an increase of childhood obesity, and rules such as No Child Left Behind, which I will speak briefly on later, does not help this issue. With evidence proving that physical activity improves academic performance, we should necessary steps to make sure that it is taken seriously. With lack of efforts put into making sure that physical fitness is important at a young age, research shows that this mission is failing tremendously in some ways. Middle school students in America, being at a critical age for developing these healthy habits, should take physical fitness much more seriously and learn more about it at a young age due to massive obesity rate, and lack of motivation in students. If physical fitness was taken seriously at young age then there would be a major change in the way that children view physical fitness in america. In American physical fitness often is not made as big of a priority as grades. Often times parents and teachers tell their children to focus on their academics, but very seldom do they mention anything about physical fitness. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Relationship Connecting the Sociology of Religion and... Berger provides insight into the study of the sociology of religion. Berger is particularly interested in the social construction of religion as perpetuated by humankind and the dichotomies of the secular and the religious. As a component of social reality, religion, according to Peter Berger, is a dialectical phenomenon (3). Society is a dialectic phenomenon in that it is a human product, and nothing but a human product, that yet continuously acts back upon its producer. Society is a product of man. Religion emerges out of human beings as part of an ordered and meaningful social reality and in turn, humans emerge out of this socially constructed world. Berger parses the dialectical phenomenon into three concepts: externalization, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ordered structure of culture becomes the ordered structure of individual human consciousness. The languages, values, meanings, and institutions of society become the languages, values, meanings, and institutions of the individual person. Through internalization, humans become a product of society. By the ordering of experience, humanity imposes nomos, or meaningful order, upon the social world by both objective by institutions and subjective by consciousness constructs. When this nomos is instinctually assumed either cosmologically or anthropologically it is endowed with a stability deriving from more powerful sources that the historical efforts of human beings (25). Humans have a need for and impose nomos on their existence or reality. Without nomos people would perceive reality to be anomic; it would lack order and meaning; it would be utter chaos. A central function of religion is to protect the individual from anomy; religion makes reality ordered and understandable. Here religion enters the social world as a human enterprise by which a sacred world is established. He begins by examining the role of religion in the construction of the social world. Berger ... The company also has some minor international operations in Canada and the UK, primarily in the credit card business. The company breaks down its business as follows. Credit cards are the major source of income, accounting for $10.4 billion in revenue, or 64% of the total revenue for the company. Consumer banking accounts for 31% of the revenue, commercial banking a further 10% of the revenue, and the company has negative revenue on other businesses. The credit card business is the most profitable, generating $2.277 billion in profit, or 70% of the company s total net income. Consumer banking accounted for 25% of total net income, while commercial banking accounted for 16% of total net income. The company has recently made moves to build its retail banking business and its credit card business. In 2012, Capital One completed the purchase of ING Direct USA, a deal that added $80 billion in deposits to the company s balance sheet. It then added HSBC s US credit card business. This move added $28 billion worth of credit card assets to the company s portfolio. These acquisitions were substantial in nature $9 billion for ING and $31.3 billion for HSBC (No author, 2012). They indicate that the primary focus for growth at Capital One is to build on its core businesses. • 6. Observation Of A Local Outdoor Park Observation of Setting: The setting of my observation 2 took place in a local outdoor park. It was a new park that opened maybe a few months ago down the street from my house, and you could easily tell that it was catered towards the younger age group due to the safety mechanisms and the big, bright, and colorful designs. I chose to observe the same child as I did last time, 3 year old Emmanuel. The observation took place around the same time as observation 1, which is basically after his mother got off work and picked him up for school. However, instead of observing little Emmanuel alone by himself, I was able to observe him play in a group setting. Ironically, at the park there were about three other children his age playing, a 1 year old who looked liked he was just learning to walk and struggling, an older child who looked as if she was about 6 or 7 years old, and then the parents surrounding the edge of the park. It was interesting to watch Emmanuel so cooperatively go with his mom, walk out the door, and pretty much just follow the rules of what she wanted. He could obviously tell from her actions that they were about to leave the house to go somewhere. It was as if he didn t really care; all he knew is that if mom goes then I have to go and I have learned that s the way it is. At that moment he knew she was in control. So I would say his attitude was very nonchalant. Then as we walked down the street with me talking to his mom and her holding his hand, something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Black Texans Essay When one thinks of African American history in the United States, images of slavery and the antebellum south are what invariably come to mind. While these images are indeed apt and applicable to understanding black history in the United States, as Alwyn Barr demonstrates in his text Black Texans: A History of African Americans in Texas, 1528 1995, the history of African Americans in the U.S. date farther back than slavery and encompasses regions other than what has become known as the deep south. Evaluating the book overall, it is evident that Barr s central purpose for writing the book was to make clear how the black community and culture developed in Texas. While this is not implicitly stated, the chronological context of the books ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because little historical discourse on blacks in Texas has been published, Barr must rely on primary sources as his main focus for research. Although some secondary material is used, especially for analysis of modern black communities in Texas, Barr widely utilizes primary information. Seeking to assess the effectiveness of this method, it is evident that while some of the information presented in the text is somewhat dry, primary source material was best suited to meet the author s objectives overall. Because primary sources are the central focus of the work, the integrity of what Barr writes cannot be refuted. Examining how the book enhances the reader s understanding of Texas history, it could be asserted that Barr s exposition provides a considerable amount of insight into the development not only of the black community but also the development of the state in general. Barr shows that blacks played an integral role in the development of Texas: a fact that is often overlooked by many historians. Even though the book provides a considerable amount of insight, however, it is overall quite dry. As such, the book would probably be useful for history students, graduate students and instructors looking to discover more about Texas or black history. Even though the text is dense at times, the author does a compelling job of presenting the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Garden Temptation, And Wrong Resolutions In The Bible In Genesis, one learns how God created the earth, and tried to keep is as peaceful and pure as possible. God faced many challenges in doing so, all requiring different resolutions, whether this meant destroying cities, or banning Adam and Eve from Eden. Based on the constant display of human weakness, apparent in many stories in the Bible, one can conclude humans are constitutionally born flawed. Mankind has time and time again angered the Lord through acts of disobedience, temptation, and jealousy. When a human sees a task as unaccomplishable, there is an inexplicable drive to disobey, causing humanity to be punished. The bible references disobedience many times, which can lead to unideal situations for the individual. Eve was in the Garden ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes this attraction is extreme such as stealing, and sometimes it is an extreme act that causes one to get killed. In the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, God was upset with the people s doings, so he decided to wipe out the people and city as whole. He told Lot and Lot s family to run away and never look back. Lot s wife was tempted to see what was going on behind her, so she looked back and turned into a pillar of salt. But Lot s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt (Genesis.19.26). Lot s wife was tempted to turn around, even though she was the purest person in the city. This story goes to show that temptation is inevitable for every person. Esau was Isaac s favorite son, so when Isaac was dying, he wanted to give Esau his last blessing. Isaac s wife overheard, and told Jacob to put skin in his hands to make his blind father think he, Jacob, was Esau. That night Jacob stole Esau s blessing. Jacob went near unto Isaac, his father; and felt him, and said, the voice is Jacob s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau (Genesis.27.22). When one is upset about not getting something, there is a temptation to lie and sin. Temptation leads humankind to do immoral things, and go against what the Lord has ... • 9. Relationship Between A Manufacturer And A Distributor Writing Assignment #2 The relationship between a manufacturer and a distributor is a crucial part in the success of a business alliance or partnership. It is necessary to pay close attention to the relationship between manufacturers and distributors in terms of trust, alliances and conflict. Manufacturers and distributors should select each other appropriately and wisely because each member of the supply chain has different expectations for the other. The most common two paths for a manufacturer to enter the market through distribution are exclusively and non exclusively. Information on relations and channel paths is significant because it will be easier be able to include them in my other projects and classes throughout the rest of academic and professional careers. The most vital concepts I learned in IDIS 340 is how important it is for manufacturers and distributors to choose the right business partners. Market share is the main driver for manufacturers, so they must turn their attention to distributors that have a wide range of access to the market. Profitability is the primary focus of distributors so they should choose manufacturers that have a strong market brand, supply the appropriate products to meet the market s demands, and offers a technical sales team. Sharing common goals and visions is perhaps the most significant element in choosing how to align a manufacturer and distributor. After aligning with proper distributors, manufacturers have expectations that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Pessimism In Clocks And Lovers By W. H. Auden The world is full of optimistic people who have plenty of hope for the future, but it is also full of pessimists who are there to bring those optimists back to earth. In Clocks and Lovers by W. H. Auden, the clocks are the pessimists and the lover is the optimist. By using exaggerations and personification, Auden contrasts the two personalities with an interesting twist. The optimistic lover floats high above the clouds in a daydream of his own, saying his love will never end, while the clocks, or pessimists, constantly remind him of reality. While the lover is under the illusion that love outlasts time, the omniscient clocks ruin his fantasy with the reality that Time will always win in the end. W. H. Auden uses personification in his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... W. H. Auden also uses personification with the lover in the fifth stanza, And the seven stars go squawking / Like geese about the sky. These two lines are a simile as well as personification, but the lover is still using personification to show his undying love toward his beloved. Later in the poem, after the clocks have discouraged the lover with their harsh reality, the lover describes a glacier knocking in the cupboard, a desert sighing in the bed, and a crack in the tea cup that opens up a lane to the land of the dead. This stanza depicts part of an old and broken down house that is a symbol for his dried out love. With the personification of the glacier and the desert, Auden gives the reader an idea of a trapped glacier and a worn out desert that circles back to the love the lover used to have. At this point, the clock s predictions have come true and the lover s love has dried out, just like the desert mentioned in the poem. The glacier knocking in the cupboard represents the lover s trapped state in the love he has promised would be forever. The clocks also use exaggeration to drive their point home. By using hyperboles to push their reminder of death farther than is needed, the clocks force their point into the lover s mind. The clocks remind the lover O let not time deceive you, ... • 11. Essay on The Terri Schiavo’s Case Analysis The Terri Schiavo s Case Analysis When a patient is unable to make decisions for himself or herself, their caregivers and those who know them are appointed to make the decisions based on what the patient would have wanted. This is called surrogate decision making. According to the article Terri Schiavo and End of Life Decisions when surrogate decision makers and caregivers cannot agree upon what that choice would have been, they may turn to the courts to determine either what the now incapacitated patient would have chosen or who is best suited to choose as the patient would have (Mathes, 2005) In 1990 Terri Schiavo suffered cardiac arrest at age 27, due to hypokalemia secondary to an eating disorder. If I had to make the decision on what to do in Terri Schaivo s case I would do what Michael Schiavo had done, I would fight to have the feeding tube removed. I believe that if a person has no quality of life and is in a PVS state, they have no feelings, they feel no pain, and they are not aware of their surroundings. According to the article Terri Schiavo and End of Life Decisions Terri could not continue both to be alive and be free from invasive medical procedures (Mathes, 2005) I feel keeping them alive is unfair to them and to their loved ones. I also believe that the surrogate decision maker should follow the best interest standard, which is, given the medical facts and prognosis, make decisions that would be in the best interests of the patient. (Hook Mueller, 2005) There was a lot of evidence and proof from the doctors in regards to the fact that Terri was not going to get better, there were no medical interventions left that could help her. Prolonging treatment for Terri would not have changed her quality of life or made it better. In my opinion, Michael Schiavo acted properly as a surrogate decision maker because first of all, he followed her previously spoken wishes and views and, second of all, he acted in her ... Most people donated without knowing what ALS stands for, people could have donated to other causes than ALS, and even though the marketing was great I disagree with The Challenge. For starters, the hype of the Ice Bucket Challenge had people accepting to do the challenge with no real concept of what ALS was. This album had no prior advertisement, yet still topped Billboard s top 100 chart, making it a promotional wonder. Titled after the proverbial saying, If life gives you lemons, make lemonade, Lemonade was released as a visual album in which each song was portrayed in a music video, and then later, collectively create a larger storyline. Beyoncé explores themes of betrayal, anger, forgiveness, redemption, and celebration through lyrics, spoken word, and cinematic elements. The opening song on the album titled, Pray You Catch Me, introduces the theme of betrayal in its lyrics, You can taste the dishonesty. It s all over your breath as you pass it off so cavalier... Prayin to catch you whispering, I m prayin you catch me listening. In these lines, she is singing of a lover s infidelity which sets the scene for the songs that follow. • 15. Auguste Comte s Sociological Approach To The Scientific... Sociology is the study of human social relationships and institutions and the study of social problems. Sociology investigates the social causes and consequences of such things as prejudice and discrimination. Auguste Comte first used the term sociology in 1838 to refer to the scientific study of society. He argued that society needs scientific knowledge based on facts and evidence to solve its problems. Spencer suggested that society will correct its own defects through the natural process of survival of the fittest. Marx claimed that social conflict, especially class conflict, and competition mark all societies. Durkheim stressed the importance of studying social facts or patterns of behavior characteristic of a particular group. He advocated the use of systematic observation to study sociological events, but he also recommended that sociologists avoid considering people s attitudes when explaining society. Weber argued that sociologists must also take into account people s interpretations of events; not just the events themselves. He believed that sociologists must inquire about people s thoughts, feelings, and perceptions regarding their own behaviors. These Sociologists were the main players during the 19th and 20th century, and their prior work led to the development of Sociology in America. Sociologists throughout the decades have sought to develop a scientific approach to the study and resolve such issues as prejudice and discrimination. Early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That means whatever group you want to belong to you can. There are also no membership lists that are maintained. Some of the ways to determine party affiliation comes from voting surveys and public opinion polls. The majority of voters in America consider themselves to be Democrats. They believed that the states and citizens should retain the rights and powers and that the constitution should be strictly interpreted. Jefferson was president from 1801 to 1809. The National Republican Party arose when the Democratic Republican Party split during John Quincy Adam s presidency from 1825 to 1829. The split pitted the party against the followers of Andrew Jackson. During this time other groups formed the Whig Party. Andrew Jackson was elected president in 1828. Most historians regard the campaign organization of Jackson as the beginning of today s Democratic Party. Jackson and his followers were known as Democrats by about 1830. The Democratic Party is the oldest existing political party in the United States. It is said to have began in the 1790 s as Jefferson s Democratic Republican Party. This party was formed to fight the Bill of Rights and against the elitist Federalist Party. In 1800 Jefferson was elected the first Democratic President of the United States. Jefferson served two terms and was followed by James Madison in 1808. Madison helped to strengthen the armed forces in America by defeating the British in the War of 1812. • 22. Comparing The Medieval Warm Period And The Little Ice Age Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age The Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age share a few common denominators. They were both caused partly by the ocean currents changing, and both of these events occurred in the northern hemisphere. The Little Ice Age was considered to be harsh , having the winters last for long a period of times, and the summers cool and wet, whereas the Medieval Warm Period was considered to be a more difficult time to describe, considering that there has not been much research done about it. The Medieval Warm Period took place during 800 AD to 1400 AD. Researchers speculate that the Medieval Warm Period had a higher than average solar radiation and less volcanic activity during that time period. This same evidence is also suggesting that changes in ocean circulation patterns caused a change in temperature (cooler to warmer) in the ocean water. This brought warmer currents into the North Atlantic (Climate Science Glossary). • 30. A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery O’Connor Essay In the short story A Good Man Is Hard to Find, written by Flannery O Connor, the theme that the definition of a good man is mysterious and flawed is apparent. The reader must realize that it is difficult to universalize the definition of a good man because every person goes through different experiences. Thus, these experiences affect his or her viewpoint and in turn flaw ones view on a good man. O Connor conveys this theme through her excellent use of diction, imagery, foreshadowing, and symbolism as well as through a creative use of repetition and an omniscient point of view. The grandmother, the main character of the story, is manipulative. Her definition of a good man refers to the characteristics that a good man should possess. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She [the grandmother] pointed out interesting details of the scenery: Stone Mountain, the blue granite that in some places came up to both sides of the highway; the brilliant red clay banks slightly streaked with purple; and the various crops that made row of green lace work on the ground. The trees were full of silver white sunlight and the meanest of them sparkled. (1286) She uses informal diction to help achieve the targeted theme and her slight use of a southern dialect is one brilliant component that helps her to do so. For example, when the family stops for barbecue sandwiches along their way to Tennessee, the owner s wife compliments the granddaughter. Ain t she cute? Red Sam s wife said, leaning over the counter. Would you like to come be my little girl? (1287). Adding this southern twist of diction as well as the southern setting helps to illustrate the culture the grandmother was raised in. This helps to bridge the gap between what the reader s definition of a good man may be, based off of their cultural upbringing, and the grandmother s definition of a good man. This gap reinforces the O Conner s idea that there cannot be a universal definition of a good man. Imagery is used flawlessly in this short story. Friedrich Froebel had the idea that children learn best through play and by having real experiences and from these theories he was the founder of the first ever kindergarten in 1840 (Meggitt et al, 2011). Following the theory that children learn best through play, Frobel introduced toys that he called, Froebel Gifts or gaben which included balls, wooden blocks, rings, tiles and sticks which were all the key elements of Froebel s kindergarten (Watson, 2002). Froebel s ideas are very similar to those that construct the EYFS that all childcare providers use today. Here is a table showing a summary of his ideas and how they are similar to and link with the EYFS: Froebel | EYFS | Schools should be closely involved with parents and that they should be welcome to join their children ... • 38. Giovanni Di Bicci De Medici Essay I chose to do my paper on Giovanni di Bicci de Medici due to the fact that I am an Accounting major and am very interested in finances and the banking system. Giovanni de Bicci de Medici was an Italian banker and founder of the Medici bank. Giovanni was born in 1360 and unlike his descendants, Giovanni was not born into wealth. Giovanni was one of five in his family and after his father, Averardo de Medici, died not much money was left to the family. Giovanni was also the great grandson to another Averardo, who had served as Gonfaloniere in the 14th century. The beginning of the Medici bank came underway through one of Giovanni s relatives, Vieri di Cambio de Medici who was much richer than Giovanni s family. He was an Italian banker who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This huge account that the Medici bank was able to obtain was due to Giovanni s friendship with Baldassare Cossa. Cardinal Cossa deserted his allegiance to Pope Gregory XII during the Western Schism and convened the Council of Pisa. His main objective was to end the schism. They tried deposing of Pope Gregory XII and Antipope Benedict XIII by electing another Pope, Pope Alexander V in 1409. Gregory and Benedict ignored this decision, so now there were three popes. Pope Alexander V died soon after which made way for Baldassare himself. Baldassare Cossa was consecrated as Pope John XXIII in 1410. As friend and supporter of Baldassare Cossa, Giovanni had previously loaned his money after Baldassare was imprisoned for accusations ranging from murder to heresy to seducing women. Giovanni used this loan in his own advantageous way because his reward for his help and loan was Pope John XXIII making the Medici Bank the main bank for the papal accounts and business. The Rome branch now had control over the curial affairs, all due to Giovanni backing his friend Baldassare Cossa or Pope John. The Roman branch of the Medici Bank always returned higher profits than any of its other operations, at least 50% of their revenues being the chief Papal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of the many stories he writes the tale told by the Wife of Bath is the most verbal and for its time the most forthright exposition of the role women did not have but could have in that time period. The wife of Bath s story is fairly general a man is accused of trying to rape a woman and the sentence for this charge is to be hung. The mean pleads and pleads to be acquitted of his charge so the queen of the time says he will not be hung if he finds the answer to a certain question. The question is What is it women most desire. Another correlation is how sly they both are and how they like to gossip. I am pretty positive Chaucer meant for the Old Hag to be related to the Wife of Bath for the different reasons I have explained. It is still odd how the character made it into Canterbury Tales but interesting all the same; The Wife of Bath s story best describe whom she herself actually is. Chaucer s portraits of the clergy and church related position show evidence of a religious system full of corruption and hypocrisy. Examine in depth 2 or 3 of Chaucer s pilgrim portraits from the prologue, illustrate or demonstrate how the medieval church was in need of reform. The late 14th century church almost a disgrace to the meaning and reputation it was supposed to be upholding. This was not true for all of the church as is true all of Chaucer s characters were not exact remakes of their real life counterpart. The clergy (Monk and Prioress and Friar) and other church related affiliates (Summoner and Pardoner) are made out to be corrupting the church. The Friar was a member of the mendicants, who were a group that traveled from town to town supposedly helping the poor this was however not what he did. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lady Macbeth foreshadows the death of Duncan by saying, The raven himself is hoarse / That croaks the fatal entrance of Duncan / Under my battlements (1.5.45 47). Here, Lady Macbeth compares the messenger to a raven , saying that his voice is hoarse . In some cultures, the raven is believed to smell death before the occurrence of death. In deeper context, Lady Macbeth is saying that the voice of the raven is hoarse as a result of mimicking the same words over and over again that imply Duncan s death. Because the raven has the ability to smell death, a conclusion can be made that Duncan s death is inevitable. Another example of foreshadowing through the use of birds is in the conversation between Ross and an old man. The old man says, On Tuesday last / A falcon, towering in her pride of place, / Was by a mousing owl hawk d at and kill d (2.4.14 16). This means that last Tuesday, a falcon was flying around a place where she thought was safe but an unexpected owl killed her. • 45. Does Franchise Quarterback Wins Introduction: In the NFL, there is a general consensus that the Quarterback is the most important position on the field. For the most part, wins and losses are both attributed to the quarterback. Thus, it is imperative for teams to find a Franchise Quarterback to build their team around. With such importance being placed on one position, it can be easy to put more pressure one quarterbacks than they actually deserve. In this study, I wanted to determine if the quarterback really does hold the key to winning. Is there a link between how well your quarterback plays and how many games the team wins? Additionally, I included statistics on the defense and the running game for an overall picture of what impacts the win percentage the most. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The variables regarding the quarterback were averaged over the number of games the quarterback started. In contrast, the remaining two variables (defensive YPG and running YPG) were averaged over the full 16 game season. My dependent variable was the win percentage for however many games the quarterback played. My data had 201 observations, going back 5 years (from the 2010 season to the 2015 season). My original model was able to pass most of the assumptions but not all. The error terms were normal (Figure 1) and there were no serious outliers, multicollinearity, or autocorrelation. However, the scatter plot of the predicted Y values and the residuals showed signs of heteroscedasticity, depicted in Figure 2. Given that, I transformed my dependent variable by squaring the values of the dependent variables. This corrected the heteroscedasticity, as shown in Figure 3 and the error terms still followed a normal distribution, as given by Figure 4. My final model now checked off all of the assumptions and I could move forward. My analysis of the data suggests that the touchdown to interception ratio had the greatest effect on the win percentage. I had predicted that defensive YPG would have the greatest impact on win percentage but it was actually the touchdown to interception ratio. Also, the coefficient for defensive yards allowed was negative as I predicted. However, the coefficient for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I joined a campus ministry called The Navigators and started to disciple under one of the leaders named Josh Lashbrook. We started to meet one day a week, so he could teach me and start to mold me into a leader. He taught me different religious tools and techniques on how to talk to people and sharing the word of God. When I first started to have meeting with him, I did not have a lot of knowledge on speaking with others and trying to convey a good message. I went in the commons and started to go around with him and sit with random strangers. Some of them were believers in our religion, believers in a different religion, or not believers at all. It was cool to see the differences between everyone and see how many actually have things in common. Josh taught me that when I talked to people, do not use only emotions because sometimes people can feel what you feel and can take it as a negative or positive meaning to what you are trying to say. I think it s important to address that Boston has a large variety of people due to all of the colleges located in the city. There is already a creative class ready to live and work after their college education, but just not necessarily in Boston. Why are these smart and young individuals leaving the city? Well, there are a lot of reasons, but mainly because of the housing. It is hard for these graduates to afford these apartments, nonetheless houses, at such a young age while still trying to find a job. Like Jesse Mermell, president of a business group Alliance for Business Leadership, says, Our No. 1 resource in Massachusetts is our talent our brainpower, and we are losing the brains because people can t afford to live here (Kirsner, 2017). Clearly, being able to retain these people is hard for the city. Having Amazon settle in Boston might only lead to more of these individuals leaving for good and never coming back. The creative class is essential for a city s culture and growth, so the city must find a way to make them stay. Of course, I don t agree that Amazon is the sole culprit of these results, the city is also to blame, as Bertolet, a senior researcher at the Seattle think tank Sightline, also claims (Ramos, 2017).
