If Scotland Goes, Bankers Fear Britain Could Exit The...
The article If Scotland goes, bankers fear Britain could exit the European Union was written by Jenny
Anderson, published in The New York Times on 11th September 2014. This article brings out a
completely new perspective regarding Scotland s independence. Every news article nowadays has
been focusing on the political aspect of Scotland s independence, but Anderson focuses on one of the
major consequences which might occur if Scotland becomes an independent country, and that is the
exit of Britain from the European Union (EU), which most people are calling Brexit . Brexit is not a
just a political debacle, but also a great financial issue. The author points out that it is considered to be
a bigger concern than Scotland s independence. Bankers and other financial sectors feel that Brexit
can cause a huge deal of loss, because Britain is said to be the gateway for the rest of the 28 nation
European Union, a market which holds about 500 million more than what is prevalent in the United
States and Japan combined. Anderson feels that for most big businesses like Goldman Sachs or
Citigroup, London is the financial capital, which provides a gateway for nearly all of Europe. Without
the unregulated access, the free flow of capital, resources, talent and goods and services would have to
be renegotiated, making it difficult for the European nations. The financial industry is said to be the
most affected since it accounts for about 7 percent of Britain s gross

Evaluating Social Media Marketing
To remain competitive and relevant in today s technological world, a number of businesses have

to their products and/or services. Subsequently, they are improving their marketing performance,

Therefore, business entrepreneurs ought to have basis business concepts as well as good products and
creative ways to market them. In addition to having fundamental business concepts, good products,
and the ability to market them, there are some benefits and pitfalls usually associated with social
media marketing. Some benefits or advantages to consider as relate to business entrepreneurs are as
follows: social media is beneficial because it is a user friendly tool and it is a practical vehicle of
doing business.
Also, it is free in nature to a certain degree and it lacks boundaries accessible to everyone. Further,
starting a new venture by using social media in respect to marketing do not necessary requires a big
start up budget or working capital. In addition, using social media certainly provides a level of
autonomy for business entrepreneurs.
Moreover, they do not necessary require any educational status to navigate the landscape of internet
marketing. Also, using social media is a fairly inexpensive way of ascertaining pertinent feedback
from consumers as it relates to brand satisfaction, improvement, and development. In short, social
media marketing helps to position a company on a global scale, promotes a company brand, and at the
same time builds strong customer relations.
On the other hand, there are pitfalls surrounding social media marketing for business entrepreneurs.
For example, the below table as provided by (Pratt, 2009) revealed

Genocide In Darfur
Concerning the ethnic minorities of Burma, I believe that we are in a period where carefully analyzed
humanitarian input can have a successful impact. Unlike the genocide in Darfur, we re aware of a
developing situation where large scale genocide has not taken place yet. History further lends a hand
in paralleling the cordoning in society of minorities such as the Rohingya with that of the black
African minorities in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan. Lessons gained in the events in Sudan should be
considered in defending the minorities of Burma who are facing human rights violation. The first step
is early engagement and awareness. Advocacy before a potential genocide of Burmese minorities will
focus international attention on the Burmese government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sudanese government refused to allow NGOs into the Nuba Mountains, where genocide by
attrition was taking place. However, a London based human rights group, African Rights, played an
instrumental part in both reaching out to the Nuba as well as bringing their plight to the attention of
the international community. African Rights was able to gain access to the Nuba Mountains and
provide valuable communication logistics to the Nuba, which provided a window to the international
community of the human rights violations carried out by the Sudanese government. Similarly,
Burmese minorities such as the Rohingyas have been separated from the larger Burmese society. They
have very little rights and sustenance. A scenario eerily familiar to that of the Nuba people. We need to
insert humanitarians within these cordoned communities to document human rights violations. The
international community will have a more difficult time ignoring tangible documentation. Moving this
groups work beyond university campuses and onto the ground in Burma is critical to preventing this

The Importance Of A Career Education
College is a costly but worthwhile endeavor that any high school graduate should strive for. But the
question on most high school graduates minds is about what to study in college and dedicate the rest
of there life to. Many students pursue a liberal education or a career education in college. In my
opinion a career education is an important use of a college education because it is more applicable
than a liberal arts education in a job setting in today s capitalist society. Many people assume that a
career education only provides unrewarding job training but it is so much more than that. In reality a
career education is an avenue for people to lead meaningful lives that can be enjoyable. Emily
Esfahani Smith states that meaningful

Reflection Of Communication Analysis
What is the tone of the meeting. The plan is to create a rational yet subjective tone that discusses
expected results. This will ensure that while an adherence to data and facts are prevalent in the
presentation, subjective considerations are presented and forwarded as important elements in the
decision making process. I will begin with an introduction of who I am, my experience and a clear
statement of specifically why I feel I have been hired and what I can directly bring to the company (in
this part I will try to engage those I feel we can initiate an alliance with while not directly
antagonizing the limiters). Finally, I will end with a clear plan including our vision of communication.
As stated previously, I will be as transparent as possible because of the need to create trust in myself
and the communication division as a whole. The department vision presented initially will be quite
lean and minimal with the focus being on quality over quantity. The focus of our energy will be on
channels and tactics that have a better chance to deliver disproportional results to build momentum
and support for our new department such as the go ahead for a communications audit and the need to
invest in the necessary staff and infrastructure to achieve this.
What are our goals going into the meeting?
To create a presentation that has senior exec clearly understand the objectives of our plan.
To create a feeling of involvement and value get commitment to contribute to

The Conflict Between Syria And The Middle Eastern Region...
Geography 142
Life In Syria
Syria is a country located in the Middle Eastern region of the world, and is currently in the stages of
developing. It is located on the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea and lies between the neighboring
countries of Jordan, Israel, Iraq, Turkey, and Lebanon. Much of Syria s economy is based on
agriculture, oil, industry and services. All of which are major reasons why Syria could be a developing
country. Syria s population has been steadily increasing since the 1960 s, and today has reached a
population of about 22 million. The majority religion in Syria, like most Middle Eastern countries, is
Islam. Therefore the main language spoken in Syria is Arabic because it is the universal language

above sea level. (e.g. The Euphrates River runs through the east end of the country and was dammed
off in 1973. As a result, water was retained and a reservoir was created. This reservoir was named
Lake Assad and is the largest lake in the country. According to Princeton.edu, only about 28% of all
the land in Syria is arable, 46% of the land is meadows and pastures, and 3% is forests and woodland.
The landscape is mostly arid, so crops like wheat and barley make up two thirds of the agriculture in
the country. Cotton is also a major cash crop grown in Syria and is and has been a big part of their
economy for years. As water is a scarce resource in Syria and other neighboring countries, most of
these crops are grown in the Euphrates river valley. Overall, agriculture contributes to a large portion
of Syria s economy.
Syria is still a developing country in the Middle East. Its economy is based on agriculture and oil. Just
these two pillars in the Syrian economy make up for about one half of their Gross Domestic Product
(GDP). Since the start of the Syrian civil war, Syria s economy has taken a huge hit. The government
has restricted trade between several countries such as the United States, Japan, and Australia. As a
result, Syria has been faced with a major economic decline. These restrictions have reversed the
otherwise growing economy. According to the United Nations (UN), there have been an estimated 143
billion dollars in economic damages as a result of the civil war.

Injustice In The Foster Care System
Annotated Bibliography for Theme of Injustice in the Foster Care System Dickens, Charles. Oliver
Twist. Ed. Philip Horne. Harmondsworth: Penguin, 2003.Print. Dickens portrays the cruel reality of
what occurs in foster care and how negligently the kids placed in the system are treated throughout his
novel, Oliver Twist. The story ultimately portrays how those placed in the system are exposed to more
danger and abuse. Oliver Twist loses his innocence throughout the story due to being forced to commit
criminal acts just to receive food or a place to live. Oliver was born in a workhouse and his mom died

Sixteen year old Callie and her twelve year old brother Jude went through several obstacles since
becoming foster kids. They were often separated from each other due to various reasons such as age
difference or simply most families looking to foster can only afford one child, they were also placed in
a few abusive households which was due to lack of care from those in charge of reviewing foster
parent s applications. In one of the homes they were placed in Callie was put in a really difficult
situation which had a huge emotional toll on her that the trauma stuck with her for a few seasons. Due
to lack of love and affection from anyone in her life Callie fell victim to one of the sons in a foster
home she was placed in. Lucas the son manipulated her by giving her what she thought was the love
she craved although it involved verbal and physical abuse. He would be very controlling and hit her
and claim, that is what love is and Callie knew no better. It got to the extent where he made her
commit sexual acts against her will but at the time she didn t see anything wrong with it. The son
knew he would get away with it because if she told anyone being a foster child she would be placed in
juvey for committing sexual acts with a family member and be placed back in the system. In another
home Callie and Jude were placed in a home of two addicts who forced them to do all the house
chores. The father was never sober, and it was a very toxic household to live in. The violence often
escalated and even got to the point where they both almost lost their lives because the father of the
household owned a gun and attacked them one night while

Queen Elizabeth I
Queen Elizabeth I was the most extraordinary leader in English history. She was born on September 7,
1533 at Greenwich Palace. Her birth was not celebrated; instead it was a bitter failure to her father
King Henry VIII, who was expecting the birth of a son. Her mother was executed for treason not long
after her birth (Jokinen 1). After Henry VIII s third spouse Jane Seymour died; however, Elizabeth
was set back in the order of succession after Edward and Mary by act of parliament. When she came
into power, she had to clean up the mess that was left by her sister Mary s five year reign. Mary had
suddenly changed the national religion from Protestantism to Catholicism, and she was not going to
listen to any objections. She pitilessly hunted down and executed Protestants who refused to convert.
After Elizabeth I took the throne, she switched back to Protestantism and restored religious order in
England (Greenblatt 15). Under Elizabeth, religion and nationality were nearly the same (Greenblatt
19). Her first act as Queen was to form a loyal government: she replaced the Privy Council with
eligible advisors such as nobles, lawyers, and businessmen (Greenblatt 15). Although she had a
fantastic board of advisors, she did not allow them to decide her choices (Alchin 1). Elizabeth was
determined to set up a safe and steady government. During Queen Elizabeth s forty five year reign,
England thrived considerably. Her reign witnessed a large gain in literacy and accomplishments in the

Analysis Of As I Lay Dying
People are motivated and mostly driven by fears, desires, needs, wants and many times, conflicts of
which they are completely unaware. In the story, by William Faulkner, As I lay Dying, the Bundren
family suffers the loss of Addie Bundren a beloved wife and mother. In honoring Addie s last wish, the
Bundrens make the trip to Jefferson to bury her with her relatives. During the trip every thing that
could go wrong does. This story is told from plentiful points of view and reveals the completely
unstable psychological state of the Bundren family. Through a psychoanalytical approach of William
Faulkner s As I Lay Dying, readers will see that Faulkner uses characterization to demonstrate the
instability of the Bundren family.

His second try to enlist in the military, Faulkner was accepted into the British army, however he never
saw combat even though he made people around him believe that he had. Coming back from the war,
Faulkner also decided to go back to school; even after dropping out several times before. Short lived,
Faulkner dropped out for the last time ( William Faulkner , 3). He picked up several odd jobs and
began to binge drink and had many stays at Wright s Sanatarium, a nursing home facility in Byhalia,
Mississippi ( William Faulkner , 8). Throughout these times of turmoil in his life, he maintained
writing. In December of nineteen fifty (Faulkner was about 53) he was awarded the Nobel Prize for
literature of the year in nineteen forty nine ( William Faulkner 13). On December 10, he delivered his
acceptance speech to the academy in a voice so low and rapid that few could make out what he was
saying, but when his words were published in the newspaper the following day, it was recognized for
its brilliance; in later years, Faulkner s speech would be lauded as the best speech ever given at a
Nobel ceremony ( William Faulkner 13). As the years passed, Faulkner s life and psychological state
increased, allowing him to expand his knowledge. Meanwhile, however, Faulkner s internal struggle
continued, ironically similar to the Bundren family.
The young mind is a wonderful thing, however the concept of losing someone so dearly loved and
cherished can be difficult to understand;

Disadvantages Of Storage Virtualization
STORAGE VIRTUALIZATION Storage virtualization is the process of grouping physical storage
from multiple storage networks so it is unique. Storage Virtualization is the process of presenting a
logical view of the physical storage resources to the hosts. Cloud storage is the other name for storage
virtualization. It hides the internal working of the storage devices from the host application. The
management and storage of data is easily carried out using facilities like backing up data, archiving
data and also recovering data in case of failure in less time. These facilities are made possible by SAN
(Storage area network) which is used to implement storage virtualization. San is a high speed sub
network which consists of shared storage devices. Storage virtualization allows to automatically
expand and reduce the storage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This separation provides greater flexibility to manage the storage. The virtualization system provides
the logical space for data storage and also maps it to the actual physical location. There can be various
layers of virtualization and mapping so the output of one layer can be passed on to the other higher
layers. Virtualization maps between front end and back end resources where the back end refers to a
logical unit number that is not presented to the host system and the front end refers to logical unit
number that is presented to a host system. The actual form of mapping depends on the
implementation. In block based storage a single block of information is addressed using a LUN
identifier and an offset which is known as logical block addressing. The virtualization software
maintains the mapping information of virtualized storage. The mapping information is called as
metadata and is stored in mapping table. Some implementations do not use mapping table instead they
use algorithms to calculate the location for storage. Dynamic methods can be used for this

Early Childhood Educator
As a future early childhood educator, I took it upon myself to get a better understanding of what my
future would look like. I began working at the Boys and Girls Club in the early childhood education
program, and it has been one of the most beneficial and inspirational parts of my life. While there, I
have worked with children who come from completely opposite sides of the socioeconomic, language,
and development spectrums. My first year gave me my greatest teaching dilemma I have faced yet.

Both the boy and the girl have developmental differences. The girl is incredibly independent, a quick
learner, but is also highly sensitive and socially resistant. Her brother is especially dependent, slow to

person. I quickly learned that he will have a meltdown if something is wrong with his clothes like if he
spilt milk on his shirt and was wet or if there was a rock in his shoe and it hurt. I also observed that he
constantly has to be touching something whether it be another child, the pictures on the wall, the rug
on the ground, and anything in between. During a meltdown, I would talk to him on his level face to
face and stay calm when asking what is wrong and what can I do to help him. I continuously reassured
him that he has an extra shirt that is dry and all we have to do is take his shoe off to get the rock out. I
also changed the way that I taught him lessons by giving him physical objects of what we were talking
about to hold on to and feel. When it was circle time, he was given a small ball to hold on to and
manipulate as long as it was not distracting to other children or taking his attention away from the
lesson. My strengths in this experience were understanding his developmental tendencies and adhering
to them in a calm and productive

Self Disclosure In Social Work Essay
In Social Work practice there are different criteria about social workers self disclose to clients. Some
of them consider that it is positive, and this kind of disclosure does not affect the social work or
clinical practice. The other side, there are others point of views that consider self disclosure to clients
a Code of Ethic transgression or violation. In my opinion, I consider that social workers should not
self disclose to client in order to keep high standard in clinical practice and avoid conflicts of interest.

Alice Walker s Themes In Everyday Use By Alice Walker
Alice Walkers short story, Everyday Use, is a story that focuses on ones heritage, dignity and to figure
out the person that one really is. The story is narrated by Mama, who is Dee and Maggies mother. The
setting of the story mostly takes in place in the yard of the house between the 1960s and 1970s. Upon
reading the story, the reader is given a clear description of what the yard is like. Mama tells us, A yard
like this is more comfortable than most people know. It is not just a yard. It is like an extended living

At one point Dee started pointing out things that she was going to take back with her to decorate her

imprints of the people who had used it. Mama said, You didn t even have to look close to see where
hands pushing the dasher up and down to make butter had left a kind of sink in the wood. In fact, there
were a lot of small sinks; you could see where thumbs and fingers had sunk into the wood. Dee wasn t
aware of how long this churn had been the family which shows how much she wanted to run away
from her heritage. One of the most important symbols used in Everyday Use was the quilts, which to
Dee had no significant value before she had gone off to college; however, towards the end of the story
Dee requested to have the quilts after leaving them behind when going off to college, saying that she
was the only one who could appreciate them. Maggie being as kind hearted and shy as she was said
that Dee could have the quilts, Mama refused saying that she had already promised Maggie the quilts.

author s use of irony is through the character of Manley Pointer, a traveling bible salesman. His

long been a problem in the United States, especially since the latter half of the twentieth century. In
recent discussions immigration has been the subject of heated congressional debates. Deportation
along with the subject of immigration, has recently become an immense issue in the United States. On
one of the hand, some argue that millions of undocumented immigrants should not be allowed to live
in the United States, and should most likely exemplify fear of getting deported. From this perspective,
it is said that if they are undocumented, then these immigrants have broken the law and therefore have

should be allowed to live in the U.S. without any fear of getting deported. My own view is that, and I

Eminent domain is defined as the right of a government or its agent to expropriate private property for
public use, with payment of compensation . The City of New London approved a development plan in
2000 that was projected to create jobs, increase tax and other revenues, and to revitalize an
economically distressed city , according to the Supreme Court of Connecticut. In almost all economic
development, development agents purchase property from willing sellers. When it comes to property

The Age Of The Earth
Many Christians believe that the age of the earth is a side issue, of non doctrinal importance, that one
can believe in an old or young universe. The Christian apologist William Lang Craig believes that it
hurts Christianity when Christians hold to a young earth position (Craig holds to a local flood as many
other Christian apologist and Christian). The reason they give is that it is not scientifically possible,
others have posited that it hurts the gospel message. Others have said young earth believers
unwittingly damage Christianity s credibility. This is nothing more than arrogance, an ego built on
trying to puff oneself up, in the philosophy naturalism. In fact, many evangelicals have started to
believe in evolution, given that they believe in billions of years. I believe it hurts the church to believe
in what secular science has to say about past events, since they view the world through a different set
of glasses glasses blind to truth and God.
A global food is essential in explaining the data we have across the world in the sedimentary rock
forms. The global Flood explains why many animals in the past record were buried rapidly in death
throe positions. Old age believers must explain the fact that the moon is moving further away from
earth, hence at one time the moon was in close proximity to the earth, if billions years are true. Thus,
the old age believer remains in neutrality with the atheistic naturalism. Old earth opponents try to
explain away the Genesis

Anne Applebaum Cold War Summary
At the end of WWII, two world superpowers emerged, the United States and the Soviet Union. As
time went on, tensions and hostilities began to grow between the two countries. The Cold War was not
a war in the traditional sense of battles, but it was a war of policies, ideals, and political influence. The
United States ideology of capitalism heavily clashed with the Soviet Union s ideology of communism.
There are many debates about how the hostility between the two countries became so tense. Historian
Anne Applebaum argues against the revisionist theory that the U.S.S.R. s actions were a result of the
U.S. hostile actions following WWII, thus beginning the Cold War. Another historian by the name of
William Appleman Williams holds a viewpoint that challenged Applebaum s as he believes that the

because they felt threatened by the U.S., but because a communist revolution was brewing. She

1940. This means that they were preparing for the spread of the communist ideology before the U.S.

the actions of Stalin as she describes that before WWII s end, there had been Soviet communist
training camps established in Eastern European countries. These camps aimed to allow for secret
authoritarian forces to rise to power in these newly liberated territories, hence spreading the
communist ideals. Her writing, however, only follows a timeline up to 1956 which is relatively early
in the Cold War. Therefore, her insight into the entire time period is limited. It mainly focuses on a
span of a decade which does not allow for the effects of the actions during this time to be fully

Miranda V. Arizona Case
Introduction The United States Constitution is the framework of our legal system. It provides its
citizens undeniable rights, and federal and state substantive and procedural laws must be obeyed while
not conflicting with the citizens rights in the Constitution. Among these rights are the 5th and 6th
amendments. The 5th amendment states that a person has the right to a grand jury and cannot be tried
twice for the same crime. The 5th amendment further states that person cannot be the witness of
his/her own crime (U.S. Const. Amend. V). The 6th amendment is related to the rights of criminal
defendants. The 6th amendment guarantees criminal defendants with the right to a public trial, the
right to a lawyer, and the right to know the charges and evidence against them (U.S. Const. Amend.
VI). The case, Miranda v. Arizona (1996), changed the course of history by determining appropriate
police conduct. This appropriate police conduct has been set as the norm, which is still being used
today. This process is referred to as reading the arrested their Miranda rights. This research paper

One day in his new hometown of New Hampshire, Bill Bryson discovers a path that leads to the
Appalachian Trail. Despite his knowledge of the trail s intimidating features and warnings from
friends, who illustrate horror stories of snake and bear attacks, Bryson reminisces about hiking trips
from his youth. He decides to try and hike the entire Appalachian Trail, over six weeks, beginning in
early spring. Bryson buys all of the equipment he will need on his journey and to kill time before his
trek, he reads books about the trail. After reading about gruesome bear attacks, Bryson decides that for
safety precautions, he needs someone to accompany him. He sends letters to friends inviting them to
join him, but the only person to respond is an old friend named Stephen Katz, who had traveled
throughout Europe with Bryson many years earlier. When Bryson reunites with Katz at the ... Show

Mentoring Essay
Mentoring Like most institutions in a world of change, the age old practice of mentoring is being
influenced by new forms of work, technology, and learning. Mentoring is typically defined as a
relationship between an experienced and a less experienced person in which the mentor provides
guidance, advice, support, and feedback to the protégé (Haney 1997). Mentoring is a way to help new
employees learn about organizational culture (Bierema 1996), to facilitate personal and career growth
and development, and to expand opportunities for those traditionally hampered by organizational
barriers, such as women and minorities (Gunn 1995). The benefits of mentoring are not only work
related; it can provide individuals with opportunities to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mentoring Institute (1997) maintains that, in the past, mentoring typically just happened as
experienced people recognized and developed new talent or as beginners sought the counsel of
knowledgeable elders. Now, the institute describes a new mentoring paradigm : todays protégés are
better educated but still need a mentors practical know how and wisdom ( craft knowledge ) that can
be acquired only experientially. Therefore, many organizations are instituting formal mentoring
programs as a cost effective way to upgrade skills, enhance recruitment and retention, and increase job
satisfaction (Jossi 1997).
Many mentoring programs have been geared specifically to women and minorities as a way of helping
them break into the Old Boy Network and through the Glass Ceiling. However, the value of opening
these opportunities to all is being recognized. Gunn (1995) suggests that a more democratic approach
to mentoring is emerging, open to more employees at more levels. For example, a high level new
employee hired because of specific expertise may still need the coaching in organizational culture that
mentors can provide, a form of partnership that is a two way transfer of skills and experience (p. 65).
This more inclusive mentoring strategy is seen as an alternative to the career ladders and security that
organizations are no longer providing (ibid.). Another democratic approach is a trend toward group
mentoring in which the mentor is

Persuasive Essay On Clean Water
A watershed is the area of land where all of the water that falls in it drains off or goes to a common
outlet (USGS, 2016). Unknown to many, a watershed could be as small as a footprint, but also as large
as a lake. The word watershed is interchangeable with drainage basins or catchment (USGS, 2016).
Watersheds are important because it controls the flow of rivers and the water that gets to a certain
place and this is how we get our fresh water. If the watershed is ruined or destroyed, then the price of
water and clean water will then get worse, the prices will become higher to fix damages and the water
could be unsafe to drink. When I say ruined it means that water flow and clean rivers will change path
or dry up. Since the major issue is that the bodies of water emptying into our watershed are polluted,
the plan we have come up with is to make the rivers clean by putting nets up and down the major
rivers in Colorado and collecting garbage. To be specific, a problem faced by our watershed t is the
buildup of plastics and Styrofoam. In fact, out of 50 billion bottles sold every year only 20% are
recycled (Scholtus, 2009). This number is stunning due to the recycling programs we have and all the
proper ways to get rid of plastic water bottles (Scholtus 2009). With the excess amount of plastics and
Styrofoam that end up in our watershed, areas might end up getting clogged and thus changing the
path of a stream. Not to mention, such change in the flow of water is also

The Competitive Advantage of Tyson Foods
Competitive Advantage:
The competitive advantage that Tyson Foods Inc. holds is the large size of the company and its brand
equity. As was mentioned before, the amount of market share that Tyson has been able to maintain
gives the company an edge over the competition. The fact that Tyson supplied meat products to large
franchises such as McDonalds and KFC gives the meat processor stable profits. Brand equity has also
strengthened Tyson s ability to compete in the foods industry. Advertising and promotion expenses for
fiscal 2013, 2012 and 2011 were $555 million, $496 million and $552 million, respectively. The Tyson
brand is well known in the United States and this helps keep the demand for its products high.
ADM s competitive advantage is the fact that it is able to reduce fixed cost by large scale production,
known as economies of scale. The company has manufacturing, distribution, and sales facilities
located in the U.S., Canada, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Since ADM has all of these
locations around the world, it has the capacity and capability to produce its products in massive
quantities. Cost per unit is lowered by spreading fixed costs across a larger product base and this
allows ADM to be price competitive within the industry.
Cost leadership is also an important key to success in any commodity industry since it is one of few
areas where any true profit can be squeezed out of markets defined by undifferentiated products. ADM

Bank Regulation Essay
Bank Regulation Before the advent of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in 1933 and
the general conception of government safety nets, the United States banking industry was quite
different than it is today. Depositors assumed substantial default risk and even the slightest changes in
consumer confidence could result in complete turmoil within the banking world. In addition, bank
managers had almost complete discretion over operations. However, today the financial system is
among the most heavily government regulated sectors of the U.S. economy. This drastic change in
public policy resulted directly from the industry s numerous pre regulatory failures and major
disruptions that produced severe economic and social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Differences in banking regulations across borders permit the most efficient channeling of funds from
lenders to borrowers, leading to increased investment and thus increased GDP. Therefore it is
imperative that policy makers prudently evaluate the possible consequences and benefits of
harmonized banking regulations, as demonstrated by similar regulations instituted domestically,
before any such endeavor is embarked upon. During the 1930s, the most prominent reason for U.S.
banking regulation was to prevent bank panics and more economic disaster like those that had been
experienced during the Great Depression. Later deregulation and financial innovation in industrialized
countries during the 1980s eroded banks monopoly power, thus weakening their banking systems and
seeming to embody the fears of post Depression policy makers who instituted regulation in the first
place. Fear that individual bank failures could spread across international borders creates pressure to
harmonize bank regulation worldwide. One advocate suggests that universal banking, at least for
industrialized countries with internationally active banks, would level the playing field by eliminating
competitive advantages created by government subsidies. Although this is a valid point, one of the
major driving forces behind the globalization of the banking world is the ability of banks to take

Within the three great religions it is generally recognized that the Hebrew patriarch Abraham, through
his recognition of one God, initiated the primary and pivotal acceptance of the necessity of
monotheism. This embrace of the reality of the existence of the one, supreme, and infinite God was
called Kiddush Hashem , or sanctifying the name of God by the Hebrews (Aish). Reflections of the
Kiddush Hashem can be found in the three primary prayers of the monotheistic religions: The Islamic
Shahada: la ilaha illa Allah (there is no God but God)(George 27); The Jewish Shema: Shema Yisrael
Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Echad... (Hear Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is One); The Catholic

we can see foreshadowed the current strife and often deadlocked political state of Israel. The Christian
Bible (and thusly the Jewish Torah, which is contained within its Old Testament) and the Islamic
Quran both admonish their readers to respect life and live a life of love and service to others. In fact,

A movie reviewer for a newspaper has the intriguing job of previewing movies, and even the honor of
determining the success of the movie. Today we will discuss more of what this job entails, and even
how you could get this job for yourself. First let us start off with the job description. Movie reviewers
have the job of watching movies before they even come out. Not only can they do this for free, but
they get paid for this. All they need is a love for movies, a natural gift for writing, and a degree in
journalism certainly helps, though not required. Popular movie reviewers get to interview top stars,
producers, and moved directors. Imagine having the chance to interview your favorite movie star or
director. Now you can imagine the appeal of a job as a movie. Movie reviewers have both an
analytical and creative mind. The analytical part to judge parts of the movie such as tone, theme, and
plot focus. While the creative part determines how good the movie is with a personal bias. These
reviews help determine the success of a movie. There is the occasional exception, if the reviews on a
movie are bad, usually the movie does bad in the box office. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Gilgamesh s Epic Of Gilgamesh
The story of Epic of Gilgamesh deals with different behaviors in Gilgamesh. Throughout the story
Gilgamesh behavior changes, he is portrayed as overbearing ruler, as a courageous and strong fighter
to his peoples, and finally as a man who seems content with what he s accomplished. Through all of
these transitions, we see Gilgamesh s attitude toward life change. The goals he has for his own life
alter dramatically, and it is in these goals that we see Gilgamesh s transition from being a shallow,
ruthless ruler to being an introspective, content man.
In the beginning of the story Gilgamesh is described to be an overly aggressive ruler. People respect
him, but they dislike Gilgamesh sexual and physical aggression, so they called to the gods to lighten
their burden with Gilgamesh. The gods created an equal to have control over him and to also keep him
in line, so they send Enkidu. Enkidu has an immediate impact on Gilgamesh, these two never met
before. And they both did not hit it off right with each other. They basically had a brawl with each
other. The gods gave Gilgamesh a real battle to deal with, Enkidu instantly changes Gilgamesh
behaviors throughout the story; Gilgamesh and Enkidu fighting with each other creates a serious mess,
but they both end up without animosity toward the other. In having this equal this gives Gilgamesh to
learn to have respect for him and another man around him. Gilgamesh and Enkidu behavior with each
other is how human in today society act,

Analysis Of Pursuit Of Happiness By Kid Cudi
Pursuit of Happiness The rhetorical triangle is basically the starting point every songwriter uses to
create their music. If not executed correctly the song could not be delivered right or loss in translation
to the listeners. The triangle focuses on the audience, the communicator, and the message which
comes together to create the content. An example of the use of the rhetorical triangle would be the
song Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi. This song could be interpreted in many different viewpoints
based on the way you view the use of drugs and alcohol. One listener can perceive the song as a
method of justifying the use of drugs, while the artist can view it as the struggles of a man trying to
find true happiness and escaping his problems. With that said the rhetorical triangle could be used in
many ways but only a few ways can be found to be effective. The rhetorical triangle is demonstrated
accurately in this song through the uses of ethos, logos, and pathos to support the statement that not
everything you believe can bring you happiness will. It could also be interpreted from the point of
view of audience who the message is addressed to. One of the arguments in the song Pursuit of
Happiness is the use of drugs to find happiness will only provide a temporary solution to your
problems. In the song Cudi uses the lyrics Crush a bit, little bit, roll it up, take a hit Feelin lit, feelin

that have different beliefs and views such as Catholicism and Protestantism, these two christian

The Catholic Church sees Mary as the Mother of God, giving birth to a son that was God in the form

In Roman Catholicism, salvation is an ongoing process with several steps: baptism, confirmation, the
Eucharist, penance, anointing of the sick, holy orders and the matrimony, these are known as the
Seven Sacraments. Good works and baptism primarily achieve Salvation. It is about earning your way
to Heaven by the things you do in life and participating in the sacraments. A person can gain salvation
and lose it many times depending on the number of sins the person committed, how bad they are, and
how much of the sacraments they have participated in (C.Ministry, 2016). Good works are a necessary
part of achieving salvation because Roman Catholicism denies the justification by faith only.
Protestants believe that you don t need to try and earn your way to Heaven, but you can be saved by
belief and faith in Christ alone. Believers are made right through their belief in God and all their sins
are paid for by Jesus and His sacrifice for our sins on the cross. Catholics, in contrast, believe that the
righteousness of God is given to the believer by grace through faith but isn t sufficient to justify the
sins of the believer. In order to be saved, the believer must supplement Christ s righteousness by his
good works on Earth. To

In analysing both nature verses nurture, the combination of these two factors affects the outcome of an

referring to the environment that the individual has been raised in. However, both of these sides are

Analysis of the Homeless Family in America
High Risk Families: Statistical and Theoretical Analysis of the Homeless Family in America
Introduction While homelessness may be an issue that is so far from the minds of the average
American family, the truth remains that the current homelessness statistics in America suggest that the
issue of homelessness is far more average than one could ever imagine. As of January 2012, The
National Alliance to End Homelessness published a series of reports that listed the number of
homeless Americans at 636,017 with a rate of homelessness at 21 homeless people per 10,000
individuals in the general population (NAEH, 2012, pp.1). While 636,017 may seem small in
comparison to the country s 311,291,917 citizens, homelessness remains an issue that stems through
the ages, through families, through neighborhoods, through ethnicity and the like. Homelessness
detrimentally effects families in their health, mortality rate, and ability to seek out employment and
basic education. In further viewing the statistics at hand regarding the homeless, their health and
behavior, as well as understanding how these people and this issue can be remedied within our
country, an overarching assessment of family life and the causes and relief measures of homelessness
must be taken into account. Health Profile and Behavioral Patterns Homelessness has long been
associated with health risks and poor behavioral patterns based solely on the inability to purchase

The Washington Redskins Should Be Forced To Change Their Name
The Washington Redskins should be forced to change their name. The term Redskin means a person
with red skin referring to Indians. It also comes from the scalping of indians causing blood to rush
down their faces making their skin red. The name is considered a racial slur. It is the equivalent to
having a team named N**ger (Redskin slang). Since the name has remained the same, people think it
is okay to call indians this name(Haden). People who disagree with changing the name point out the
poll that shows 90% of natives aren t offended by the team name(Cox). However, there was a survey
in 2014 saying that 66% of indians living on the reservation are offended. Speculations are made
wondering if the poll was bias. Another reason why the Redskins should change their name is because
the team loses revenue for keeping an offensive name(Keating). Due to the offensive name the
supreme court appealed the registration and trademark for the Washington football team(Person).

responsibilities are equally shared by everyone. Even associates having more than 5% of share in the
total cost of the construction project are equally liable as any other members of the entire group.
Building Information Modelling or BIM is usage of various soft wares which are flexible, highly

This helps in making the project extremely cost and time effective. The construction manager can
provide design timelines to all the participating members of the project. Once the designs are ready,
the design conflicts can be solved in group meetings. The traditional method of construction is
inefficient in this matter as the problems in design will be faced on site and corrections to this can be
extremely costly and inefficient.
IDP is a signed contract between all the participating parties. Therefore, the BIM designs can work as
legal documents if any issues arise. The amount of importance given to these drawings and other
policies can be decided in group meeting of the various parties. This helps in making the contract
clearer. Also, the designers can copyright or have mutual understandings between the constructors

 NARRATOR: Once upon a time, there was a King Malicious who had a beautiful daughter. Men
from all around the world sent proposals of marriage to King Malicious, but King Malicious said.
KING MALICIOUS: Whoever would marry my daughter must perform three impossible tasks. First,
they must swim across The Kings River alone through shark infested waters. Second, they must bring
me a vial of cool water from the Lake of the Abominable Snow Man, water so cool it chills you to the
bone. And third, they must bring me a scale from the hide of the great dragon Alduin.
NARRATOR: King Malicious knew these tasks to be impossible, hence the name, three impossible
tasks. But King Malicious, who did want grandchildren one day, assured each man that undertook ...

All were eaten by sharks. Some men chose to start in the middle and visit the Lake of the Abominable
Snow Man. All of them were eaten. And a few brave souls attempted to visit the mighty dragon
Alduin. They, too, were eaten. Until one day...
Trumpets winded within. Prince Cunning enters with his Servant.
PRINCE CUNNING: Hail, mighty King Malicious! I have come to claim my bride!
KING MALICIOUS: Welcome, young Prince. I hate to tell you this, but any man who wants to win
my daughter has got to perform three impossible tasks.
PRINCE CUNNING: But I have, o Great King Malicious! I have performed each task as it is written,
and have come to claim my prize.
KING MALICIOUS: Really? Can you prove this?
PRINCE CUNNING: Happy to, your majesty. First, I journeyed to The King Malicious River, a
treacherous body infested with sharks. I jumped in at Merlin s Bluff, and swam across to the Beach of
Arthur.
KING MALICIOUS: The Beach of Arthur?
PRINCE CUNNING: Yes, your majesty.
KING MALICIOUS: That doesn t count.
PRINCE CUNNING: Why not? Is not the passage from Merlin s Bluff to the Beach of Arthur part of
The King Malicious River?
KING MALICIOUS: Yeah, but there s no sharks

Crossfit Annotated Bibliography
Bibliography for Crossfit Research
Source: What Is CrossFit? What Is CrossFit. Web. 15 Mar. 2016. . This link talks about what crossfit
is all about, an activity that incorporates gymnastics, weightlifting, and high intensity work in different
forms. Greg Glassman founded this now widely popular form of exercise when he was a young
gymnast. Crossfit s official definition is constantly varied functional movements preformed at
relatively high intensities. In my research, I will use this to talk about how crossfit was discovered and
what the goal of crossfit is overall. I will also use this to talk about the history and development of
crossfit.

Crossfit is a unique environment were competitors congratulate each other and provide motivation to
other to keep pushing through the workout. In my research, I will use this to talk about the
environment crossfit gyms provide to athletes. I plan on also using this to provide what it is like from
the prospective of an athlete that notices the impact the community makes on the activity.

In this article, Mayo Clinic gives short examples of how exercise in general can be beneficial to a
person. It talks not only about physical benefits, but mental benefit. It also addresses that exercise
helps improve sleep patterns and boosts energy. In my research, I plan to use this article, and similar
articles, to really show that exercise in general improves lives in more ways than just physically. I also
hope to find articles that talk more about crossfit.

Hannibal Dialectical Journal
Okay. Will sighed, burying his hands back into the jacket. It would be cold down in the subway, and
though it would be a relief from the wind, he knew it d be warmer in Hannibal s car. I live in
Brooklyn. he added, another warning, but Hannibal only nodded, clearly pleased he d accepted the
offer. Allow me to lead the way. Hannibal s car was nicer than Will had expected. It was a sleek,
spotless black bentley, the interior smelling of leather and pine. Will slid into the passenger seat and
immediately felt out of place, and he squirmed in the seat, trying to get comfortable as the cold
leached from the leather through Will s pants. The window was fogged, but began to clear as the car
began to warm up. Were the seats heated? Will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He could see the image perfectly in his mind; the cemetery quiet, crows singing harshly in the
distance, the sun s light illuminating the tombs as it baid the day farewell, orange leaves nestled near
the stones resting on the grave, Hannibal young and sharp minded, settling in this new country, paying
his respects to the past as he took in the present. Maybe he had traveled here for the sake of his
studies, or because the small suburb in which he d grown up had grown too banal, and it was time,
now, to stretch to the world. Or perhaps he had simply been visiting. But he could see it, young
Hannibal in a navy blue windbreaker, or a too large sweater, less together and experienced than now,
taking in the sight as if heaven sent to him, the sun sneaking through and lighting not just the
nameplates nestled in the grass but the features of Hannibal s face. He could see himself finding
Hannibal there, his sister on his arm, pausing to stare at the man encapsulated at the sight, Will and his
sister encapsulated by the man. Approaching him, and then the three of them, standing together in
silence, the sun casting orange yellow light and pulling blue shadows on all of them, the tears dried on
his sister s face not unlike the shadows of rain on Hannibal s now. When they turned to look at each
other, the their eyes drifting to each others , they would be silent, and his sister would smile, and he d
smile, and Hannibal s eyes would shine the way they were shining

Source of the food is a huge factor for comparing between USA and Vietnam. In America, their foods
often come from the land, then the sea. Vietnam relies on sea for resource but they do still have land
resource. The land in Vietnam is topical forest, which that is unique to America wood forest. Use of
wheat is diverse in the world. America makes their wheat into bread while Vietnam made rice from

and crawfish. The cooking methods are used differently in theses countries. America likes to grill or
fry their meat than to Vietnam boiling or slow cook. The major factor is that America like to eat more

Nuclear Weapons Of The World
The industrial revolution marked the start of the new face of the world with the improved
development and quality of life. The revolution increased the rate at which new and complex
discoveries have come to be across the world. Countries have over the years embarked on exploiting
their natural resources to develop their economies and improve the standard of living of the residents.
The international community has however raised issues on how the discovered resources are used
because of the security threats that arise as a result. Nuclear energy is one the major discoveries made
by a number of countries to provide power and energy for both domestic and industrial use.
Nevertheless, the discoveries have raised significant threats to the ... Show more content on

Through the UN Security Council, it is clear that the Iran nuclear program should be evaluated and
dealt with before it become too late. The council has in the past called for a suspension of the uranium
activities in Iran to reduce the threat. In addition to the efforts of the UN Security Council, the
International Atomic Energy Agency has also tried to intervene on the matter. The agency has
increasingly requested for adequate information about the past activities and the plans on Uranium
usage nuclear power development. The efforts by the international organizations have failed and hence
the world powers including United States, Russia and Israel have decided to take up actions that are
likely to reduce the threat to their nationhood (Blitzer, 2010). United States and Israel are passively
involved in resolving the problem.
Diplomatic/Negotiation Efforts
The United States is aware of the fact that the failure by Iran to observe the UN obligations and failure
of the international suctions to force Iran to drop its nuclear activities leaves the world with only two
options. The two options include the diplomatic efforts and the military action. The lesson learnt from
the Iraq and Afghanistan among other considerations forced United States to seek diplomatic
negotiations. Washington is therefore instrumental to the formation of a six country dialogue with
Tehran to resolve the problem

  • 2. If Scotland Goes, Bankers Fear Britain Could Exit The... The article If Scotland goes, bankers fear Britain could exit the European Union was written by Jenny Anderson, published in The New York Times on 11th September 2014. This article brings out a completely new perspective regarding Scotland s independence. Every news article nowadays has been focusing on the political aspect of Scotland s independence, but Anderson focuses on one of the major consequences which might occur if Scotland becomes an independent country, and that is the exit of Britain from the European Union (EU), which most people are calling Brexit . Brexit is not a just a political debacle, but also a great financial issue. The author points out that it is considered to be a bigger concern than Scotland s independence. Bankers and other financial sectors feel that Brexit can cause a huge deal of loss, because Britain is said to be the gateway for the rest of the 28 nation European Union, a market which holds about 500 million more than what is prevalent in the United States and Japan combined. Anderson feels that for most big businesses like Goldman Sachs or Citigroup, London is the financial capital, which provides a gateway for nearly all of Europe. Without the unregulated access, the free flow of capital, resources, talent and goods and services would have to be renegotiated, making it difficult for the European nations. The financial industry is said to be the most affected since it accounts for about 7 percent of Britain s gross ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unlike the genocide in Darfur, we re aware of a developing situation where large scale genocide has not taken place yet. History further lends a hand in paralleling the cordoning in society of minorities such as the Rohingya with that of the black African minorities in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan. Lessons gained in the events in Sudan should be considered in defending the minorities of Burma who are facing human rights violation. The first step is early engagement and awareness. Advocacy before a potential genocide of Burmese minorities will focus international attention on the Burmese government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Sudanese government refused to allow NGOs into the Nuba Mountains, where genocide by attrition was taking place. However, a London based human rights group, African Rights, played an instrumental part in both reaching out to the Nuba as well as bringing their plight to the attention of the international community. African Rights was able to gain access to the Nuba Mountains and provide valuable communication logistics to the Nuba, which provided a window to the international community of the human rights violations carried out by the Sudanese government. Similarly, Burmese minorities such as the Rohingyas have been separated from the larger Burmese society. They have very little rights and sustenance. A scenario eerily familiar to that of the Nuba people. We need to insert humanitarians within these cordoned communities to document human rights violations. The international community will have a more difficult time ignoring tangible documentation. But the question on most high school graduates minds is about what to study in college and dedicate the rest of there life to. Many students pursue a liberal education or a career education in college. In my opinion a career education is an important use of a college education because it is more applicable than a liberal arts education in a job setting in today s capitalist society. This will ensure that while an adherence to data and facts are prevalent in the presentation, subjective considerations are presented and forwarded as important elements in the decision making process. I will begin with an introduction of who I am, my experience and a clear statement of specifically why I feel I have been hired and what I can directly bring to the company (in this part I will try to engage those I feel we can initiate an alliance with while not directly antagonizing the limiters). Finally, I will end with a clear plan including our vision of communication. As stated previously, I will be as transparent as possible because of the need to create trust in myself and the communication division as a whole. The department vision presented initially will be quite lean and minimal with the focus being on quality over quantity. The focus of our energy will be on channels and tactics that have a better chance to deliver disproportional results to build momentum and support for our new department such as the go ahead for a communications audit and the need to invest in the necessary staff and infrastructure to achieve this. Her birth was not celebrated; instead it was a bitter failure to her father King Henry VIII, who was expecting the birth of a son. Her mother was executed for treason not long after her birth (Jokinen 1). After Henry VIII s third spouse Jane Seymour died; however, Elizabeth was set back in the order of succession after Edward and Mary by act of parliament. When she came into power, she had to clean up the mess that was left by her sister Mary s five year reign. Mary had suddenly changed the national religion from Protestantism to Catholicism, and she was not going to listen to any objections. She pitilessly hunted down and executed Protestants who refused to convert. After Elizabeth I took the throne, she switched back to Protestantism and restored religious order in England (Greenblatt 15). Under Elizabeth, religion and nationality were nearly the same (Greenblatt 19). Her first act as Queen was to form a loyal government: she replaced the Privy Council with eligible advisors such as nobles, lawyers, and businessmen (Greenblatt 15). Although she had a fantastic board of advisors, she did not allow them to decide her choices (Alchin 1). Elizabeth was determined to set up a safe and steady government. On one of the hand, some argue that millions of undocumented immigrants should not be allowed to live in the United States, and should most likely exemplify fear of getting deported. From this perspective, it is said that if they are undocumented, then these immigrants have broken the law and therefore have a criminal record (Sandy). On the other hand, others argue that millions of undocumented immigrants should be allowed to live in the U.S. without any fear of getting deported. My own view is that, and I specifically state, that millions of undocumented immigrants should be allowed to live in the U.S. without any fear of getting deported. The Christian apologist William Lang Craig believes that it hurts Christianity when Christians hold to a young earth position (Craig holds to a local flood as many other Christian apologist and Christian). The reason they give is that it is not scientifically possible, others have posited that it hurts the gospel message. Others have said young earth believers unwittingly damage Christianity s credibility. This is nothing more than arrogance, an ego built on trying to puff oneself up, in the philosophy naturalism. In fact, many evangelicals have started to believe in evolution, given that they believe in billions of years. I believe it hurts the church to believe in what secular science has to say about past events, since they view the world through a different set of glasses glasses blind to truth and God. A global food is essential in explaining the data we have across the world in the sedimentary rock forms. The global Flood explains why many animals in the past record were buried rapidly in death throe positions. Old age believers must explain the fact that the moon is moving further away from earth, hence at one time the moon was in close proximity to the earth, if billions years are true. • 24. Anne Applebaum Cold War Summary At the end of WWII, two world superpowers emerged, the United States and the Soviet Union. As time went on, tensions and hostilities began to grow between the two countries. The Cold War was not a war in the traditional sense of battles, but it was a war of policies, ideals, and political influence. The United States ideology of capitalism heavily clashed with the Soviet Union s ideology of communism. There are many debates about how the hostility between the two countries became so tense. Historian Anne Applebaum argues against the revisionist theory that the U.S.S.R. s actions were a result of the U.S. hostile actions following WWII, thus beginning the Cold War. This means that they were preparing for the spread of the communist ideology before the U.S. had even come into the picture as the Americans joined the war in 1941. She has much to say about the actions of Stalin as she describes that before WWII s end, there had been Soviet communist training camps established in Eastern European countries. These camps aimed to allow for secret authoritarian forces to rise to power in these newly liberated territories, hence spreading the communist ideals. It provides its citizens undeniable rights, and federal and state substantive and procedural laws must be obeyed while not conflicting with the citizens rights in the Constitution. Among these rights are the 5th and 6th amendments. The 5th amendment states that a person has the right to a grand jury and cannot be tried twice for the same crime. The 5th amendment further states that person cannot be the witness of his/her own crime (U.S. Const. Amend. V). The 6th amendment is related to the rights of criminal defendants. The 6th amendment guarantees criminal defendants with the right to a public trial, the right to a lawyer, and the right to know the charges and evidence against them (U.S. Const. Amend. VI). The case, Miranda v. Arizona (1996), changed the course of history by determining appropriate police conduct. Mentoring is typically defined as a relationship between an experienced and a less experienced person in which the mentor provides guidance, advice, support, and feedback to the protégé (Haney 1997). Mentoring is a way to help new employees learn about organizational culture (Bierema 1996), to facilitate personal and career growth and development, and to expand opportunities for those traditionally hampered by organizational barriers, such as women and minorities (Gunn 1995). The Mentoring Institute (1997) maintains that, in the past, mentoring typically just happened as experienced people recognized and developed new talent or as beginners sought the counsel of knowledgeable elders. Now, the institute describes a new mentoring paradigm : todays protégés are better educated but still need a mentors practical know how and wisdom ( craft knowledge ) that can be acquired only experientially. Therefore, many organizations are instituting formal mentoring programs as a cost effective way to upgrade skills, enhance recruitment and retention, and increase job satisfaction (Jossi 1997). Many mentoring programs have been geared specifically to women and minorities as a way of helping them break into the Old Boy Network and through the Glass Ceiling. However, the value of opening these opportunities to all is being recognized. Gunn (1995) suggests that a more democratic approach to mentoring is emerging, open to more employees at more levels. For example, a high level new employee hired because of specific expertise may still need the coaching in organizational culture that mentors can provide, a form of partnership that is a two way transfer of skills and experience (p. 65). This more inclusive mentoring strategy is seen as an alternative to the career ladders and security that organizations are no longer providing (ibid.). • 29. Persuasive Essay On Clean Water A watershed is the area of land where all of the water that falls in it drains off or goes to a common outlet (USGS, 2016). Unknown to many, a watershed could be as small as a footprint, but also as large as a lake. The word watershed is interchangeable with drainage basins or catchment (USGS, 2016). Watersheds are important because it controls the flow of rivers and the water that gets to a certain place and this is how we get our fresh water. If the watershed is ruined or destroyed, then the price of water and clean water will then get worse, the prices will become higher to fix damages and the water could be unsafe to drink. When I say ruined it means that water flow and clean rivers will change path or dry up. Since the major issue is that the bodies of water emptying into our watershed are polluted, the plan we have come up with is to make the rivers clean by putting nets up and down the major rivers in Colorado and collecting garbage. To be specific, a problem faced by our watershed t is the buildup of plastics and Styrofoam. In fact, out of 50 billion bottles sold every year only 20% are recycled (Scholtus, 2009). This number is stunning due to the recycling programs we have and all the proper ways to get rid of plastic water bottles (Scholtus 2009). As was mentioned before, the amount of market share that Tyson has been able to maintain gives the company an edge over the competition. The fact that Tyson supplied meat products to large franchises such as McDonalds and KFC gives the meat processor stable profits. Brand equity has also strengthened Tyson s ability to compete in the foods industry. Advertising and promotion expenses for fiscal 2013, 2012 and 2011 were $555 million, $496 million and $552 million, respectively. The Tyson brand is well known in the United States and this helps keep the demand for its products high. ADM s competitive advantage is the fact that it is able to reduce fixed cost by large scale production, known as economies of scale. The company has manufacturing, distribution, and sales facilities located in the U.S., Canada, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Since ADM has all of these locations around the world, it has the capacity and capability to produce its products in massive quantities. Cost per unit is lowered by spreading fixed costs across a larger product base and this allows ADM to be price competitive within the industry. Cost leadership is also an important key to success in any commodity industry since it is one of few areas where any true profit can be squeezed out of markets defined by undifferentiated products. Bank Regulation Essay Bank Regulation Before the advent of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in 1933 and the general conception of government safety nets, the United States banking industry was quite different than it is today. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Differences in banking regulations across borders permit the most efficient channeling of funds from lenders to borrowers, leading to increased investment and thus increased GDP. Therefore it is imperative that policy makers prudently evaluate the possible consequences and benefits of harmonized banking regulations, as demonstrated by similar regulations instituted domestically, before any such endeavor is embarked upon. During the 1930s, the most prominent reason for U.S. banking regulation was to prevent bank panics and more economic disaster like those that had been experienced during the Great Depression. Later deregulation and financial innovation in industrialized countries during the 1980s eroded banks monopoly power, thus weakening their banking systems and seeming to embody the fears of post Depression policy makers who instituted regulation in the first place. Fear that individual bank failures could spread across international borders creates pressure to harmonize bank regulation worldwide. One advocate suggests that universal banking, at least for industrialized countries with internationally active banks, would level the playing field by eliminating competitive advantages created by government subsidies. He could see himself finding Hannibal there, his sister on his arm, pausing to stare at the man encapsulated at the sight, Will and his sister encapsulated by the man. Approaching him, and then the three of them, standing together in silence, the sun casting orange yellow light and pulling blue shadows on all of them, the tears dried on his sister s face not unlike the shadows of rain on Hannibal s now. When they turned to look at each other, the their eyes drifting to each others , they would be silent, and his sister would smile, and he d smile, and Hannibal s eyes would shine the way they were shining ...
