A Report From The Philippine Statistics Authority ( Psa )
Abstract
According to a report from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), by the year 2045, the
Philippine population is projected to increase to 142 million according to the latest 2010 Census
based population projections. Around 50 million people would be added in a span of 35 years.
This increase in numbers would take place even if the average annual growth rate is projected to
decline significantly, from 1.73 percent during 2010 2015 to 0.65 percent during 2040 2045. The
Philippine population grew by 1.9 percent annually during the decade 2000 2010.
Together with the population growth of a city, the demand for basic necessities for life like clothes,

Since the superblocks uses a type of system where vehicles outside the superblock is prohibited to

first dominated the streets of the nowadays modern city.
In the end, the main goal of this study is to propose a type of development with abundant of public
space for social and neighborhood relations. A development that has reduced noise and pollution
and an accesible area that promotes and the use of public transport.
Chapter I Introduction
Background of the Study Taguig City is one, if not the most, known city here in the National
Capital Region (NCR). Not just because of its business and other commercial districts but because
of its population growth rate (PGR) in relation to its land area or its population density.
The population of Taguig City is growing at a phenomenal rate. A Philippine Statistics Authority
(PSA) report on the population in the National Capital Region NCR showed that Taguig had
posted an average annual PGR of 4.32 percent from 2010 to 2015, exceeding Mandaluyong City
s 3.12 percent and Paranaque City s 2.39 percent. Taguig s average annual PGR from 2000 to
2010 of 3.26 percent had been the highest in the region. Its population grew to 805,000 as of
August 1 last year from 644,000 in 2010 and 467,000 in 2000.
In order to keep up with the demand of housing space and do so at an affordable rate, it is
necessary to rethink how the

Professional Goal Analysis
Statement of Professional Goals I consider myself a born and raised New Yorker, but that
statement is only half true. My parents emmigated from Bangladesh to Canada in the late
1980s, and a few years later in 1994, I was born there. I was brought up there for only 6 months
of my life before moving and staying in New York. It may not be the most interesting thing in the
world, but rarely do I ever meet any Canadians, unless I am back home visiting family. My parents
did not know what kind of aspirations to have when they relocated and immigrated to the United
States. A viable standard of living and a sufficient amount of money in the bank was their daily
motivation to achieve the American Dream. Their actions have not been solely for their benefit as
they only ever wanted to make sure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I had not done it for the money, but rather for the experience of constantly being in an
environment where I had to interact with people. I learned a lot in the way of using
computerized systems for maintaining inventory, understanding company finances, and
organizing stock. I learned to speak to people and deal with situations where the customer may
not always be right. Even so, I was able to find composure and handle situations in a professional
manner. My uncle also owns two other pharmacies where I offered my assistance, especially
after significant company setbacks. This work experience is partly the reason why I chose my
major in Economics because it opened my mind to the prospects of potentially having my own
business one day too. No one small aspect can be overlooked and that is what majoring in
Economics has taught me. Understanding macroeconomic and microeconomic concepts have
allowed me to see the two tiered layers of the financial world, and all the layers in

New Media In The Turn Within By Susan J. Douglas
New media is a less traditional version of media resulting from the digitization of almost
everything. Compared to its predecessor, new media is instantaneous, interactive, and universally
accessible. The largest aspect of new media is social media. It s role in today s media environment
presents an interesting paradox. On one hand, social mediais rather limiting. It is incredibly easy to
tailor one s online experience to their personal beliefs and perspective. At the same time, social
media presents the opportunity to connect with the worldat large. To say that new media allows for
one but the not the other would be incorrect. Today s society is one that both reveres and fears
social media, leaving people in an interesting position. In her essay The Turn Within , Susan J.
Douglas discusses how communications technologies have led to an inward, narcissistic scope
instead of creating a global village in which the world is bound together. There are oftentimes
calls for a return to old media due to (somewhat unfounded) fears of newer media making people
anti social and self absorbed. But how exactly is someone communicating by way of more... Show

It is true that when given the chance to participate in the world s changing social and political
landscape through social media, many people choose to cling to their own opinions and ignore
the perspectives of others. But the relationship between this narcissism and social media is not
one that is always clear or necessarily true. There are a number of people use social media for
things other than sharing pictures. In fact, people are capable of rational thought with and without
the aid of social media, despite the prevailing attitude that says opposite. While there is surely
room for improvement, today s media environment is certainly capable of helping us make sense
of the world if we really allow

Taboo Language
Taboo language: FUCK
Is it no longer obscene?
All languages have words that are considered taboo words that are not supposed to be said or
used. Taboo words or swearwords, can be used in many different ways and they can have different
meanings depending on what context they appear in. Another aspect of taboo words is the
euphemisms that are used in order to avoid obscene speech. This paper will focus on the f word
which replaces the word fuck, and as the study will show it also have other meanings and usages.
First, it is a fact that from now on the use of curse words have become part of male and female s
everyday language. No longer is it uncommon to hear a person use an offensive word to express
their emotions. Not only is it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, taboo words or what can be called foul language are words prescribed by culture as being off
limits. And the use of this taboo or stigmatized language is usually associated with strong emotions.
Then, considered as a very emotional person, it is true that I am a frequent and long time user of
the f word, so I will attempt to explain this unique and fascinating word in a different light by
showing the etymology, written history, the amazingly flexible use this word has in grammar and
the way it is used or not used in media.
First of all, it seems that the actual root of the word is very unclear. It is impossible to say
precisely when it appeared because so little documentary evidence exists, probably due to the
fact that the word was so taboo throughout its early history that people were afraid to write it
down. The first recorded use of the word is before 1500 in the English/Latin satirical poem Flen
Flyys Non Sunt in celi quia fuccant uuiuys of hely meaning they are not in heaven because they
fuck the wives of Ely. Others claim the first known use of fuck is in a Scottish poem by William
Dunbar, Ane Brash of Wowing, in 1503. However, it took nearly another century for fuck to make
its lexicographic debut in John Florio s 1598 Italian English dictionary. Finally, it seems that fuck
remotely derived from the Latin future and Old German ficken/fucken meaning to strike or
penetrate , which had the

Research Paper On Monsanto
Monsanto is a company that effects almost every human in the United States and millions
abroad. But what is Monsanto? Monsanto is one of the largest producers of genetically modified
crops in the world. Genetically modified crops play a pivotal role in our food supply today. Over
60% of food on the shelves of our supermarkets contain some form of genetically altered soybean,
corn or canola. However, Monsantomay not be nice as they seem. Over the past few years
Monsanto has been investigated under allegations of collusion and keeping others out of the
market with anti competitive business tactics. Collusion is the cooperation of two or more
businesses to keep prices high, when they cooperate the public has no choice to buy these high
prices goods, and the companies involved make a fortune. Monsanto s business tactics are meant
to keep competitors out of the market and to force farmers to be dependent on their products.
Monsanto produces a good that isn t exactly the best for the environment. Genetically Modified
Organisms, more commonly known as GMO s, are the latest scientific breakthrough. Many
studies have shown how GMO s are bad for genetic diversity and even worse for the health of those
that consume them. So why do we buy GMO s? One reason is that GMO s allow farmers to grow

Lesions Of Common Skin Diseases
Lesions of Common Skin Diseases in Children
Pediatric Primary Care Physicians (PCP) deal with several visits related to skin problems.
Children present with common skin diseases differently than adults. PCPs ought to be capable of
treating a majority of these children (Prindaville, Antaya, and Siegfried, 2015). A very valuable
skill for all PCPs to possess is the ability to recognize common skin conditions. The skin functions
as an important barrier to dehydration and infection. It is imperative to acknowledge that any
deterioration in the normal function of the skin can cause morbidity and mortality, especially in
babies due to vulnerability to loss of heat, infection and dehydration. Varicella, Impetigo and Atopic
Dermatitis are three common pediatric skin diseases.
Varicella
Varicella better known as chicken pox is a very contagious rashthat is caused by Herpesvirus type
III or Varicella Zoster Virus
. Commonly occurs in children between one and six years old. The
characteristics of chicken pox is prodromal phase: virus is transmitted by coming in direct contact
with lesions or by mode of droplets. Immunity is permanent after one attack. The highest risk of
transmitting the virus is approximately two days prior to appearance of the first vesicle and ends
when crust is formed on the last vesicle. The child may develop headache, malaise, fever and lose
their appetite. Rash: begins as a papule then develops into a blister on the surface of the skin. A

Custom House In Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne s introduction to The Scarlet Letter , The Custom House introduces the
reader to the narrator who bears a likeness to Hawthorne himself. Similarities between the two
include their occupation in the custom house, being descendants of Puritans, having an interest in
writing, and also being native to Salem. The narrator in the introduction describes the custom house,
his work there, the employees, writing in general, but the most significant event in this introduction
was his discovery of an unusual package, the contents in it being the scarlet letteran A , and records
that date back to the seventeenth century in the Puritan community. After being dismissed from his
job the narrator felt compelled to write about this discovery.

The prison door represents punishment to those who have sinned, justice, the austerity of Puritan
society and human nature (humans are sinful by nature). In contrast the rose bush is
...wild...covered, ... with its delicate gems...offer[ing] their fragrance and fragile beauty to the
prisoners as [t]he[y] went in... (Hawthorne, 33). Thus the rose bush is symbolic of God s/human s
mercy, paradise, human nature (positive outlook), hope and even individuality since it the only
beautiful and optimistically described thing in this chapter. Note, Hawthorne was a
transcendentalist and that individualism was a fundamental idea in this philosophical movement.
Also, Hawthorne sought to be a part or help create a utopia (Brook Farm communal experiment)
like the Puritans who had hoped to create their shining city upon a hill ; ironic that Hawthorne has
criticized the Puritans who ultimately had the same goal as Hawthorne, to create a utopia. The
placing of the prison door and the rose bush near one another created a juxtaposition of themes of
strict vs. wild and justice vs. mercy.

Resourcing Talent
Introduction.
It is essential for every organisation to understand the recruitment trends as by attracting the best
talent, organisations will have an advantage over their competitors. When talent planning,
organisations should promote a career opportunity, not a job opportunity as this gives a whole new
outlook to any potential employee.
The CIPD defines talent as those individuals who can make a difference to organisational
performance either through their immediate contribution or, in the longer term, by demonstrating
the highest levels of potential.
1.2 Identify and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1.3 Three factors that affect an organisation s approach to recruitment and selection.
Skills.
It is important to identify the skills needed for new roles. This can be done by creating a job
description for the role in questions. Furthermore, an organisation can identify, through the job
description, whether the skills already exist within the organisation or if it is necessary for external
recruitment.
Cost.
Recruitment can be a very costly exercise, especially if not done correctly. It is therefore important
to have a recruitment plan in place. A company has to first identify if it wants to promote from
within or recruit externally. Does the company want to take on the recruitment procedure itself or
use an employment agency? Ensuring that the correct message is put across can eliminate the need
for second interviews as the criteria would have been specified in the requirements.
Supply and demand.
There is a large supply and demand for employees in the care sector. Being able to anticipate the
need for staff plays a large part in how a company approaches recruitment. To attract new talent, an
organisation may decide to include training as part of the induction process or alternatively, may
seek to recruit from European countries to meet the high demand of staff required.
2.1 Identify the benefits of three different recruitment methods.
Job adverts.
Advertising is the most popular way of recruiting.

The Rules of Saint Benedict were for the first time monks. The significant of the Rule of Saint
Benedict is for a person to regard the scriptures as sacred and to spend time with God in not only
reading the scripture but studying the scriptures in a manner of hiding them in the heart as well as
obeying the Word of God. The Rule of Saint Benedict also taught discipline in the way of shutting

Mandated Governmental Benefits and the Regulations:
Employers provide a percentage or portion of wages that are mandated by the government in what
they may pay as far as minimal wage is concerned. A lot of employers also decided to offer other
benefits to their employees. Employers aren t mandated to provide the majority of the benefits
they do offer but once they have decided to add additional benefits to their compensation package

As difficult times tend to loosen these binds, many employers find that reminding employees of the
dollars and cents value of that relationship can provide a little fresh glue (HRO Today Human
Resource Outsourcing Today). Employees have to consider not looking at just the base salaryif
there are non monetary benefits, perks and extras to consider as well. Unions have a significant
effect on those who are in unions and those who aren t in unions in relation to total
compensation plans and benefits. Unions in their bargaining for the employees can potentially
increase the salaries, increase the benefits as well as encourage or help an organization offer up
additional perks. Unions allow for equality within the lower and middle class sector, those who
work in more labor intensive careers and those who are limited in the degree they hold by
fighting for those workers to ensure some amount of fairness. Unions can impact the salaries of an
industry that doesn t have a union in a particular building because the unions are in the industry
the worker would be paid a more because of that even though the union may not be physically in
the building. The biggest impact that a union has on a total compensation package is the perks or
additional benefits of employees by bargaining for leave with pay, which ends up

Biological Diversity and the Ways It Can Be Destroyed,...
For my topic I chose to explore biological diversity and ways that it can be destroyed, restored, and
maintained. In class, we were taught that diversity is the number of distinct species of animals,
insects, plants, etc. that are living in a particular area. We found out that diversity is greater in the
tropicsand less towards the poles. This is called the Latitude Diversity Gradient and could be due
to one or more of three theories. They are the cradle hypothesis that says the area where speciestend
to be born is in the tropical latitudes, the museum hypothesis that says the tropical latitudes provide
a better habitat for species that go extinct in other latitudes, and the destination hypothesis that says
species migrate to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example is that species are adapting to the stresses of living in the city, such as high
population density and high heavy metal concentrations in the soil. The last example that was
given was the house mouse and the Norway rat. These are both non native species brought to
New York that are developing a resistance to the warfarin used to try to kill them. (Taking a Walk
on New York s Wild Side) This last example also shows us that introducing non native species can
increase diversity. The problem with that is sometimes those species become invasive species
and can have negative effects on the diversity in an area. This can also happen with non native
plants and insects species as well. Methods of restoring biological diversity were addressed in
this lecture too. The presenter said that the best way to maintain biological diversity is to keep
natural area large and undisturbed because a larger space equals more diversity in species. While
there are many projects that are working to restoring land to wild habitat, this option is not always
possible. When building new parks, panels of experts put a lot of thought into what species would
do well if introduced to the area. This includes animals, plants, birds, trees, insects, etc. They then
introduce those species to the park when it is finished. Many companies are working towards
putting green roofs on their company buildings. This would

A. Colonialism in North America
England s desire for economic gain and religious freedom sparked the beginning of their interest in
colonialism in America (Gouch, LeGuin, Walton, 1998). While some settlers came to America in
search of gold or other riches, the Puritans that settled the Massachusetts Bay Colony came to
escape religious persecution and have freedom to worship as they desired. In 1630, over a
thousand Puritans arrived, being led by a lawyer named John Winthrop. All English settlers were
required to set up charter system governments. This system allowed the settlers to organize ... Show

The British, unwilling to give up their rule, even went as far as to demand that Colonist pay for the
protection of the British Army and Navy. The Colonist felt since they had no representation in the
British parliament, they owed nothing. When no agreement could be reached a revolution was
inevitable (Joes, 1996).
Another cause of the American Revolution was the desire of the colonists to have freedom of
religion and the determination of England that the colonist must remain true to the Church of
England. Puritans, a religious group who came to the colonies seeking freedom of religion, wanted
to remain a part of the Church of England, but develop their own style of worship. Another more
radical religious group, Separatists, wanted a complete break from the Church of England. The goal
of both of both the Puritans and the Separatists was to have the freedom to express religious beliefs
without fear of persecution by the church or government. England remained firm that the colonist
must follow the practice of the Church of England with no variation ( Annenberg Learner, 2013).
B2. Indian Independence Movement
The general cause of the Indian Independence Movement was India s desire for independence from
British, French and Portuguese Rule. The aim of the movement was Swaraj, a self governing India
(Sharma, 2005, p. 22). One, more specific, cause of the Indian Independence Movement took place
in 1905 when the province of Bengal was divided into two provinces,

Tony Kushner s A Gay Fantasia
American playwright Tony Kushner s momentous two part production Angels in America: A Gay
Fantasia on National Themes documents the varied lives of five men residing in New York City
throughout the 1980s AIDS epidemic. A truly unique aspect, which pertains to Kushner s
dramatized narrative, is that each focal male character is homosexual. Although these men may
share a collective sexual orientation, they experience their sexuality in their own individualistic
ways. Through the lenses of Kushner s male protagonists Roy Cohn, Joseph Pitt, Louis Ironson,
Prior Walter and Belize the play endeavours to eradicate conventional perceptions of sexuality as a
dichotomized view: heterosexuality/homosexuality. As the narrative progresses, it becomes
apparent that Angels in America contends the monolithic stereotype attributed to a homosexual
orientation, by reconceptualising the notion of sexuality as one that can be situated upon a spectrum.
The spectrum established within the play illustrates the range of contentment each character
experiences, regarding their sexuality. For example, the more out of the closet and overtly open one
is about the nature of their sexual orientation, the more seemingly secure they are with themselves
and vice versa. It appears that each male protagonist s location on the spectrum is ultimately
contingent on his enactments of gender performativity. The following analysis seeks to prove that
the more effeminate a male character acts, the more open and

Modern Architecture And Ancient Greece
Rules of proportion in Architecture and Ancient Greece
Proportion is the essence of architecture, and its roots can be traced back to even the ancient
Egyptian times. The first recorded information about the theories of proportion comes from
Pythagoras s studies on geometry, ratio and the musical scale. This knowledge has been further
explored in relation to proportions of things found in nature, such as the discovery of the golden
ratio, and the modulation of the parts that make up the human body. This knowledge is documented
in Vitruvius s treatice, De Architectura, which contains valuable information about how architecture
was perceived in these ancient times. His ideas of the ideal proportions of greek temples, and its
relationship to the modular system of the human body is most evident in the flawless harmony of
parts that make up the Parthenon.
In the mid 5th century BC Pythagoras studied the Greek string instruments, called the lyre and he
discovered that two strings with the same length, tension and thickness will sound the same. When
the strings are at different lengths, they will most likely sound bad (or dissonant). However, he
discovered certain string lengths that were different from one another, but they sounded good (or
consonant) when played together. For example when he halved one string, he realised that the
notes sounded the same, but at different pitches. This was the discovery of the octave, or diapason,
and can be represented as a ratio of 1:2.

Describe The Typical Cuban Communication Patterns
. As a health care provider, what are the typical Cuban communication patterns you need to be
aware of in dealing with Mrs. Hernandez? The typical Cuban communication patterns I would
need to be aware of in dealing with Mrs. Hernandez is making sure to have direct eye contact
when speaking to her. I would also shake her hand when I introduce myself. I would also make
sure to accept hugs from her, as it is her culture way to show appreciation between the patient and
healthcare provider. (Purnell, 2013).
2. Describe the traditional Cuban food patterns. How would you assist Mrs. Hernandez in
developing a plan for a 1500 calorie diet and regular exercise? In the Cuban culture, their food
patterns are mostly focused on the tropical climate and agriculture surroundings. Cubans tend to eat
meat usually it is between pork and chicken. They also like to eat foods such as yams, yucca,
Malanga, and boniato, plantains and grains. They also like to prepare their foods with olive oil,
garlic, tomato sauce, vinegar, wine, lime juice and spices. (Purnell, 2013) I would assist Mrs.
Hernandez in developing a plan for a 1500 calorie diet and regular exercise by helping her plan
out a weekly healthy meals that would help maintain a 1500 calorie diet. I would also give her
suggestions on types of exercise that would benefit her on her health and that isn t too extreme for

is as the time surprising and normal, pushing to deliver what we hide inside us. To say the unsaid,
to show the unseen thus to exhibit the intrinsic thought. I used to think about the world. Yes, the
world, this place that we humans live in. In this extent what is the proper definition of world? It
is only a place or it can be defined as the people who inhabit in. Is the people only related to
merely us humans or it is much more extend? Could we categorize the animals as people or this
name can only be attributed to us? Could the word people change its meaning depending of the
context and have a connotation to characterize other outside humans. Or should I be clever and
called the others outside humanby their name already establish such as animals and plants, water,
air? But do those name reflect what they are? Are they enough pejorative meaning in those names
to reveal its importance? Or did I add some pathetic sense in their name to illustrate their so called
their miniature and insignificant importance in the whole that we call world? We could say that we
care about them and their name reflect what they are. In addition, we humans create some

Advantages and Disadvantages of Easily Obtainable Information The rise of technology has
shaped our generation in so many ways. As a child, I remember going to the library and checking
out books when I had a paper or project due for class. As I got older the need for finding books or
publications for research purposes decreased considerably. As I entered middle school, a class was
being taught on computer literacy, and looking back on that class I see how important it was to
get started early. I can only recall one time in the last three years where I stepped foot into a
public library, and that was to place my vote for the 2016 presidential election. The fact that I
can hop on my phone, and search anything I could possibly want to know about, and that
information be displayed in a matter of seconds is an amazing and wonderful thing. The
downside to the capability of information at your fingertips is that it causes people (including
myself) to be lazy. Vocabulary and literacy levels are lower now, because you don t have to read
several books to find what you are looking for. I loved reading for pleasure when I was younger,
and still do, but that was because I was required to read more to find answers to questions. Siri and
Google have almost eliminated the need to do such research.

In conjunction with the FFA Organization, agriscience educators help students conduct Supervised
Agricultural Experiences (SAEs). These experiences are based on student interest and designed
to give the student an opportunity to build skills related to an agriscience career. One example of
an SAE would be working with a mentor to learn about poultry or hay production. Project based
learning happens every day in an ag classroom. Students gain knowledge and career skills related
to welding, construction, and even electrical work by conducting hands on learning activities
guided by an agriscience educators. Project based learning is not new. It is a concept that
agriscience education has built its foundation on. Not every student thrives in a traditional four
walled, 30 desk classroom with a person giving a lecture. Many students feel lost in this learning
setting. Agriscience education has the unique ability to reach many of those students who aren t
successful in a traditional classroom. Students have different learning styles. For example, one
student might have an auditory learning style which means that he or she learns best by hearing.
Another student might be a visual learner which means they learn by seeing. For many who find
success in agriscience, it is clear that they are tactile learners. These types of students are a hands

What Is The Purpose Of Walt s Ideal
The purpose of ideals in terms of how we live our lives is to act as a guide for how we should
behave and to help us to get back on the path when we have strayed from it. Therefore, we are
not hypocrites when we stray from our ideas because they are, as we labeled them, ideals, not
realities. Furthermore, each person has a different ideal and I would argue that people are only
hypocritical when one judges another for not meeting his/her ideal. This can be seen quite well
with Chris and his father, Walt. Chris and Walt are both hypocritical of each other because each
judges the other for not meeting his ideal, when he does not meet his ideal himself. First, Walt is
very harsh on Chris because he does not meet Walt s ideal, Walt s ideal being

Lee s army. Union soldier, Joseph E. Hooker, initiated an attack on the Hagerstown Turnpike
(Ballard 25). At dawn, Joseph Hooker led approximately 8,600 men to battle. However, Hooker
stopped the infantry unit upon noticing that the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia concealed
a range of bayonets in a cornfield (Ballard 30). Thus, a fiery battle erupted along the Antietam
Creek. Soldiers beat their fellow man with rifle butts and pierced their bodies with bayonets.
Additionally, The Dunker Church at Antietam became a bloody remembrance of the battle (Ballard
40). By midday, the town was covered with the carnage of Union and Confederate soldiers. A
sunken street, known as Bloody Lane, was emblazoned with the bloodshed of 5,600 casualties. On
the evening of September seventeenth, the battle had concluded. According to historians, the Battle
of Antietam yielded more casualties than any other day in the history of the nation s military.
Specifically, over twenty thousand casualties were accounted for. However, President Abraham
Lincoln expressed disappointment in General George B. McClellan s military performance during
the Battle of Antietam. For example, he stated that a rationalist mindset that permeated McClellan s
strategic acts led him to miss a great chance to destroy Lee s army (Lincoln 19). Furthermore,
Lincoln grew increasingly disenchanted with McLellan s militant skills as he declined to attack
General Lee along the Potomac River. On November seventh of 1862, President Lincoln dismissed
General McClellan from the Army of the Potomac and the Maryland Campaign was dissolved.
Consequently, the Battle of Antietam was strategically deemed a Union

morally correct. There are many reasons why people should take action, for example, for fairness.

Why, simply because if you feel you are correct about a point you re trying to prove then you
should stand on it and fight for it. For instance in the play Antigone when she was arguing with
creon, basically trying to prove his laws aren t fair. I believe this connects my main point mainly
because she saw something wrong and felt something needed to be said. On top of that, people
need to take action if they feel they are correct because if you see a problem and nothing is said
then stuff may just get worse. Another example would just be continuing off Antigone standing
up to creon, I feel as if the whole situation was demoralizing for the people until Antigone, the one
person who finally decided to say something, even with her life on the line for doing what she
did on the same hand still had plenty of people behind her. This just proves that people should
step up when they feel they are correct because when you step up you then have people to support
you the chances are you are going to win. In the end the whole point of this is to just say if you
think you are correct about something that should be done then stand for it and fight for it and

Organizational Change Phase III Organizational change encompasses many challenges to both the
individual, and the organization. An organization is a living system, as Flower (2002) states living
systems cannot survive without change, challenge, variety, and surprise (Flower, 2002, p. 16). An
organization requires the ability to adapt in to survive as Darwin states in The Origin of Man, It is
not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive
to change (Read Me First, 2013, p. 1). It must adapt to the changing market, global economic

Data obtained from Press Ganey Scores to evaluate patient satisfaction has been shown to have a
direct link with hospital profitability. A 2002 Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health care
Organizations report states According to a Press Ganey and Associates report, there is an almost
perfect correlation between hospital employee satisfaction and patient satisfaction (Health care at
the crossroads, 2002, p. 8).
Outcome measurement strategies focus on prevention of slide back by reinforcing the goal,
identifying challenges that may lead to barriers to proposed change, and establishing early
intervention. For example, Schein (2002) states for new behaviors to last, they must first fit into the
personality of the individual or the culture of the group that is being changed. Otherwise, the
behavior will be only a temporary adaptation to the pressures of the change situation, and will erode
once the change agent has ceased to disconfirm the old behavior (Schein, 2002, p. 39). Research
suggests if minimum staffing regulations improve nurse satisfaction, reduce job stress, and relieve
workload, nurse turnover may indeed decline, further improving the quality of hospital care, (Spetz,
2008, p. 1). Although the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care report described on
three pages the dangers of the growing nursing shortage, and its long term impact, managements

It appears that Shakespeare is justifying Macbeth s ruthless ambition and want to maintain power,
which puts Macbeth into darker depths by having Banquo and Fleance murdered, by his lack of
an heir. Similarly, the audience is provided by Snowball as the rival to Napoleon s absolute
power in his introduction to the character in Chapter 2. Orwell tells the reader he was a more
vivacious pig than Napoleon , setting him up immediately in competition His description goes
on to describe him as quicker in speech and more inventive . This is proven when he emerges
later in Chapter 4 as the brave hero of the Battle of the Cowshed after which we see him awarded
with the military decoration of Animal Hero First Class while the reader realizes Napoleon
seems to be conspicuous in his absence. Moreover, Snowball invents plans for the windmill and
Orwell outlines all his creative ideas in his committees and therefore Napoleon clearly makes
plans to expel him from the farm. The key difference between Shakespeare and Orwell s
presentations is that we witness Macbeth s thought processes and plans while Orwell keeps the
reader in the dark yet offers them clues that Napoleon is not to be trusted. It comes as no surprise
to the reader in Chapter 5 when Napoleon unleashes his personally educated dogs, who represent
Stalin s secret police, on Snowball. Both leaders maintain power by eradicating any competition.

Cry, The Beloved Country, By Alan Paton
In South Africa, the plight of apartheid tore apart communities, families, and individuals. It was a
social concern that came under increasing attack and response as apartheid reached its zenith in the
middle of the 20th century. It was not unlike segregation and the Jim Crow mentality that prevailed
in the United States; with its ancient roots and adverse effects. Indeed, one is curiously reminded
of Harper Lee s well known novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, and its role in trying to formulate an
escape from that system. An escape with various routes, but an escape that interestingly calls back
to the nature of innocence and child like questions. It is in this way that Alan Paton s enduring
novel, Cry, The Beloved Country, takes on a unique and refreshing approach to a basic question:
that of the equality and dignity of all people. Throughout Cry, The Beloved Country, Paton exudes
frequent references to childhood, a devout religiosity, and of course, a return to simple questions;
all of which contribute the idea of innocence and a certain naivetГ© that contribute significantly to
Paton s message. Extended and found in abundance, the warmth and almost reassurance of children
provides a foundation and almost stronghold throughout the novel. Both of the central characters
around who the story is centralized are old men, but both of them experience a journey that calls to

Mt Alverni The Most Viable Target Market
In celebration of Mount Alvernia s 60th Anniversary, the Mount Alvernia Parents and Friends
Support Network intend to host a function. Functions are advantageous to the local economy as
they generate visitor spending, thus more income and employment possibilities (Department of
State and Regional Development, 2014). Furthermore, events provide a platform for social
interaction, which would ultimately strengthen the MountAlvernia community. In addition, an
anniversary celebration is an opportunity to market the school as successful and sustainable
(Fossler, 2001). Therefore, the function would benefit the college.
The event aims to connect the past and the present students of Mount Alvernia College to
commemorate the school s 60th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tuite s plans for the future of the college. The second objective is to break even; which can be
measured by the calculation of cost and profit. This objective ensures the college does not bear a
debt and honours the Franciscan value simplicity. The third objective is o acknowledge the initial
ten students and three teaching sisters, as they were unfortunately unrecognised t the previous 50th
anniversary celebrations. A featured Roll Call ensures the third objective will be attained.
Furthermore, goal four is to increase attendance. Hence, the P F recommend the inclusion of a
registry for it allows us to compare the attendance of the 60th anniversary celebration to that of the
50th event. As a final point, objective five is to eliminate neighbourhood disturbance. This can be
measured by complaints from locals concerning the event.
The Mount Alvernia Parents and Friends Support Network has conducted a survey regarding the
scope of the event. It is important the survey feedback dictates the planning of the event to
maximise attendance. Therefore, the survey was sent to 43 members of the target market.
A garden party was voted the ideal event by 56% of surveyed students. The garden party fits the
purpose of the function as the Missionary Franciscan Sisters traditionally held afternoon tea in the
gardens following Mass (Mount Alvernia College, 2016). Furthermore, La Forresta was voted

Conquer Fear Of Public Speaking Analysis
Public speaking is a fear faced by over 75% of the Earth s population. In fact, 5.3 million of
Americans today face social phobia and speech anxiety. Commonly referred to as glossophobia ,
speech anxiety is fear people face when delivering speeches and/or lectures to large audiences. The
article, Conquer Fear of Public Speaking through Emotional Intelligence , written by Gleb
Tsipursky, provides people with expert advice on how to conquer their speechanxiety. As someone
who presents ideas and projects on a daily basis, I have started to conquer my speech anxiety.
When I first moved to Hillsborough in 2013, I was petrified when delivering my student council
speech. No one knew me, and I only had a scant amount of friends. I patently remember being

When practicing my speech in an empty auditorium I was exceedingly confident, but I started
becoming restless when students began filling up the room. My knees started to quiver, and I
began feeling febrile. However, I knew that I needed to remain composed, and ultimately deliver
an excellent speech. Similar to Tsipursky s positive thinking method, I started to think positively.
I used Tsipursky s method of positive thinking , and thought If you do not believe in yourself,
how do you expect other people to believe in you? (Paragraph 8). By thinking positively and
optimistically, I was able to envision my successful speech. The speech anxiety I once possessed
had now disappeared, and I knew that I was ready to deliver a successful speech. This daunting
experience provided me with a valuable lesson, which was to never think pessimistically. Presently,
I apply the same methods that I used during this experience, as well as Tsipursky s method to the
presentations I deliver. The bottom line is that speech anxiety affects over 75% of the world s
population, but we can all use effective methods to push through this

Obesity And The Global Burden Disease
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This report is originally written by a group of students from the
second year Accountancy of Queen s Belfast University. Generally, what will be found in this
paper other than bad intake of nutrition is other causes of obesity in Europe which will be
statistically and mathematically tested on. However, this data has been narrowed down to 2011
only. We hope that our project paper will be helpful in the future. ABSTRACT Director of
Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation in Seattle and a co founder of the Global Burden
Disease study, Dr Christopher Murray said Obesity is an issue that affects people all over the
world from all incomes and ages . Later he said that There is no country successfully able to
reduce the rates of obesity before this, and it is expected to rise steadily as incomes in low and
middle income countries in particular rises, unless urgent steps are seized . It has been stated by
The Richest.com in 2013 that heart disease is leading disease lead to death and one of the
factors is obesity. However, other factors that might affect obesity rates in Europe has remain
unclear. Questions like what causes obesity in Europe for 2011 and how will it affect obesity will
be frequently asked throughout this paper. In this case, obesity will be our dependant variable
while the other nine independent variables has been carefully chosen by our group. Hypothesises
are being drawn based on the variables chose. These hypothesises are tested,

Advanced Procurement And Dispute Resolution
Advanced Procurement And Dispute Resolution (CW 2)
Within this piece of coursework I will explain and compare various dispute resolution options that
are used within the construction industry. The commonly used options that I will be going into
further detail are mediation, adjudication, litigation and arbitration. These options will then be
evaluated, and then explained of when they should be used. These four options are commonly used
within the construction industry to resolve legal arguments that have arisen from various disputes.
Mediation is commonly used within the construction industry when a dispute between parties
arises, and legal action is needed. Being used as a consensual process of dispute resolution, in which

Where in the process Evaluative mediation is used, the initial mediator will learn all of the facts of
the case which has been brought forward. After reviewing the case, the mediator will then express
their views on the overall merits as they can see them. Conciliation may initially be a form of
evaluative mediation, for example if the conciliator does not reach a settlement acting in facilitative
mode, then a recommendation evaluating how, with their views the overall matter should be
resolved. Advantages and disadvantages of mediation are as follows;
пѓ Quick (Carried out in days)
пѓ Cost Effective
пѓ Flexible process
пѓ Relatively informal
Disadvantages;
пѓ Does not always result in a settlement agreement
пѓ Legal precedent cannot be set in mediation
пѓ Mediation has no formal discovery process
Adjudication is a statutory or contractual procedure for quick interim dispute resolution.
Adjudication is provided a third party adjudicator which is commonly selected by the parties.
Adjudicators can commonly adopt inquisitorial role which may involve taking the overall initiative
in ascertaining facts and law. Costs that have been built up over the course of the case

Edgar Allan Poe Mood
Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe, famous for his interesting and intriguing works, was born on January 19, 1809.
As a child, his parents divorced and his mother took his siblings and him with her. Sadly, after
the divorce, his mother passed away from Tuberculosis, and Poe s family was divided up again.
His siblings went to live with different people and Poe was taken in by the Allan couple. He was
given a good education but his new stepfather did not like him. Edgar Allan Poe joined the army at
eighteen years old and is loving stepmother, Mrs. Allan, passed away, also from Tuberculosis.
Later on, Mr. Allan helped Poe go to West Point but did not give him enough money. Poe got
expelled from the school. Later on, he moved in with his relatives, ... Show more content on

It is a negative mood, and typically a tense one. In the short story, the Masque of the Red death ,
this of course, is another reading including death. For example, the story says, THE Red Death
had long devastated the country. Once again, talking about death and devastation brings about
negative feelings and a depressing fell. The end of the story reads, a sad, negative atmosphere.
In the story, The Fall of the House of Usher , Mr. Usher s wife was supposed to be dead, but later
in the story she was thought not to be and Mr. Usher started panicking because he realized that
she was not dead. That was when Madeline Usher burst through the door and scared Mr.
Roderick Usher so bad that he died. The story says, For a moment she remained trembling and
reeling to and fro upon the threshold, then, with a low moaning cry, fell heavily inward upon the
person of her brother, and in her violent and now final death agonies, bore him to the floor a
corpse, and a victim to the terrors he had anticipated. This is telling how Roderick Usher died in
the end. After reading this, the reader feels nervous and anxious because death is not a subject
that usually makes people comfortable. The story, a bit longer than some of Poe s other works,
The Pit and the Pendulum is about a person in jail. It is not a common jail as some might think.
This prison was made to torture people and give them pain. During this story, the reader was tied
up and a pendulum with a blade started to swing back and forth and began to come closer and
closer to the person. At the last minute, he was able to become free, thanks to a couple rats.
Apparently he was being watched because shortly after he escaped the almost certain death, the
cell started to get hot and the walls around him began to close, pushing him closer and closer to a
large pit. At the last minute, he was rescued but death was almost certain in the story until he was
saved. The reading says,

Zombie Apocalypse
Zombie Apocalypse
Yusuf Redzic Dad! Yes, Charles? What does zombie apocalypse mean? It s just some silly
science fiction term. Jon hears these two s conversation on his way to Harvard. He knows loads of
stuff about biology and biotechnology. So much that has a lab dedicated to it. He knew that indeed
a zombie apocalypse can occur, and many people knew that. They probably are just not aware of
it. He arrives at his school, and goes through his typical day at school, three periods and lunch.
He gets back home, does his homework and is about to go to sleep. He glances at the clock. It is
nine twenty seven pm. He had set up a Body Donation program about three weeks ago. He
acquired two dead bodies from his program.

He had not studied for the test yet, but he already knew some of the material required for passing
the test. Do you want to study at your house? A friend asked Jon in the courtyard. The thing Harold,
is that...
Jon quickly realizes he should not mention anything even remotely related to his little project,
because he could get in serious trouble. For a second he was dumbstruck by what his
experiment might have caused. Trembling, he asked Could we study at your house instead?
Ok, but you seem to be afraid of something, Harold said in a concerned voice. Come on, think!
What is an excuse I can use? Well my power is out for another two weeks according to my power
company, so I just realized something in there might have short circuited while it was plugged
in just before the power outage, but I will have to wait and see. Oh. Well, that s too bad. Yeah, it
is. Well maybe you can stay at my house for the next few days, Harold offered. No I m fine, I can
buy a backup generator, Jon declined. Ok then. If you need me for anything you can just call me.
Jon was relieved to have ended that conversation. Although, he thought, I have to check on the
zombie. Well, maybe it isn t a zombie! Maybe it died already. Cloned organisms do not last very
long. He started walking home. He came up with reasons why his house might not be full of
zombies until he got home. He looked stuff about genetic mutations and cloning on his

I Visited My House After Two Months
I visited my house after two months. Everyone was fast asleep. I went inside my room.It was
almost midnight and I was trying to clear my head. I kept thinking about my life and how it has
turned into nuisance. I couldn t imagine any scenarios that could keep my infuriated mind in a
placid state. I decided to wake up, drink the Starbucks that I was fond of and start writing about
how I can get the life I want to live. As I took a sip from that frigid bottle I heard a creak from
outside the window. The rusty gate between those old fences kept on making a squeak as the
wind bashed it every now and then. I never discerned that annoying sound it made before. It must
have been the way I used to see the world I lived in before. Never troubled and never perturbed. My
mindwas so prone to distractions as it constantly looked for things to whine about. That squeaky
gate made me obnoxious. It felt like my fate was laughing on me. But, instead of being agitated, I
decided to think calmly and go to the living room where that rusty old gate couldn t trouble me.
I sat down on the sofa which wasn t frayed before. It must have been the Ragdoll I thought, my aunt
who visited last week loves him so much. I decided to turn my laptop on and write down things I
needed to change in order to be contented. Just as I started typing my password, it creaked again.
Before I got my brains to steam up, I realized I left the windows and the door of my room open. I
shut the window and banged the door. I

Suicide And Stereotypes
Over the past several decades, suicide has been a topic of great concern amongst researchers and
psychologists who continue to see a rise in the number of annual suicides. According to the
National Institute of Mental Health, suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United
States. However, it is the third leading cause of death among individuals between ages 10 14 and
the second leading cause of death among 15 34 year olds (Piscopo 2). Just over the last forty years,
suiciderates for all ages have been on a steady incline, which has pushed researchers to investigate
possible causes. Particular attention has been paid to the possible influence news and television
coverage of suicide may have on the general populous. The theory that media stories can cause a
spike of imitative suicides is known as The Werther Effect, obtained from the belief that Goethe s
novel The Sorrows of Young Werther
in 1774 triggered an increase in the number of suicides,
leading to its ban throughout Europe (Gould 1269). Since then, there has been extensive research
into the way suicide is portrayed in the news, on television, in plays, music literature and social
media. In more recent years, researchers have found a strong relationship between suicide
portrayals in newspapers or on television and a subsequent increase in suicide rates (Hawton 1374).
However, one form of mass communication that has not been properly investigated is suicide
portrayals in fashion advertisements. Today, the

Poetic Techniques Used In Barter
Life is worth living, so live another day The meaning of forgiveness People make mistakes,
doesn t mean you have to give in Life is worth living again (Bieber lines 19 22) These song lyrics
convey how there are many poetic devices in Life is Worth Living . These lyrics show examples
of symbolism, repetition, and mood. Life is Worth Living has more poetic devices than the poem,
Barter , which makes the song lyrics more artistic through the use of metaphors, allusions,
symbolism, alliteration, hyperboles, mood, and repetition. Life is Worth Living uses many
examples of repetition. One example of repetition is in the lines, Life is worth living, so live
another day The meaning of forgiveness People make mistakes, doesn t mean you have to give in...

The poem, Barter also uses repetition. Sara Teasdale incorporates this poetic device into her
poem in the lines, Life has loveliness to sell, (Teasdale lines 1, 7). Teasdale repeats this line
because it is the overall theme and message to the poem. This line is what she wants the reader
to get out of the poem. Overall, both the song and poem show examples of repetition. In both
texts, the authors use many symbols in their lyrics and words. In Life is Worth Living , Justin
Bieber uses many symbols to describe the message of the song. One example of that would be
the lines, Said it ain t over / Oh, even in the midst of doubt / Life is worth living (Bieber lines 16
18). This is symbolism because it is symbolizing how you should never give up, no matter what
the situation is. In Barter , there are also many symbols that make up the poem. One of them being,

A Report From The Philippine Statistics Authority ( Psa ) Abstract According to a report from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), by the year 2045, the Philippine population is projected to increase to 142 million according to the latest 2010 Census based population projections. Around 50 million people would be added in a span of 35 years. This increase in numbers would take place even if the average annual growth rate is projected to decline significantly, from 1.73 percent during 2010 2015 to 0.65 percent during 2040 2045. The Philippine population grew by 1.9 percent annually during the decade 2000 2010. Not just because of its business and other commercial districts but because of its population growth rate (PGR) in relation to its land area or its population density. The population of Taguig City is growing at a phenomenal rate. A Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) report on the population in the National Capital Region NCR showed that Taguig had posted an average annual PGR of 4.32 percent from 2010 to 2015, exceeding Mandaluyong City s 3.12 percent and Paranaque City s 2.39 percent. • 4. Professional Goal Analysis Statement of Professional Goals I consider myself a born and raised New Yorker, but that statement is only half true. My parents emmigated from Bangladesh to Canada in the late 1980s, and a few years later in 1994, I was born there. I was brought up there for only 6 months of my life before moving and staying in New York. It may not be the most interesting thing in the world, but rarely do I ever meet any Canadians, unless I am back home visiting family. My parents did not know what kind of aspirations to have when they relocated and immigrated to the United States. A viable standard of living and a sufficient amount of money in the bank was their daily motivation to achieve the American Dream. Their actions have not been solely for their benefit as they only ever wanted to make sure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My uncle also owns two other pharmacies where I offered my assistance, especially after significant company setbacks. This work experience is partly the reason why I chose my major in Economics because it opened my mind to the prospects of potentially having my own business one day too. No one small aspect can be overlooked and that is what majoring in Economics has taught me. Understanding macroeconomic and microeconomic concepts have allowed me to see the two tiered layers of the financial world, and all the layers in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. New Media In The Turn Within By Susan J. Douglas New media is a less traditional version of media resulting from the digitization of almost everything. Compared to its predecessor, new media is instantaneous, interactive, and universally accessible. The largest aspect of new media is social media. It s role in today s media environment presents an interesting paradox. On one hand, social mediais rather limiting. It is incredibly easy to tailor one s online experience to their personal beliefs and perspective. At the same time, social media presents the opportunity to connect with the worldat large. To say that new media allows for one but the not the other would be incorrect. Today s society is one that both reveres and fears social media, leaving people in an interesting position. In her essay The Turn Within , Susan J. Douglas discusses how communications technologies have led to an inward, narcissistic scope instead of creating a global village in which the world is bound together. There are oftentimes calls for a return to old media due to (somewhat unfounded) fears of newer media making people anti social and self absorbed. But how exactly is someone communicating by way of more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is true that when given the chance to participate in the world s changing social and political landscape through social media, many people choose to cling to their own opinions and ignore the perspectives of others. But the relationship between this narcissism and social media is not one that is always clear or necessarily true. There are a number of people use social media for things other than sharing pictures. In fact, people are capable of rational thought with and without the aid of social media, despite the prevailing attitude that says opposite. While there is surely room for improvement, today s media environment is certainly capable of helping us make sense of the world if we really allow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taboo words or swearwords, can be used in many different ways and they can have different meanings depending on what context they appear in. Another aspect of taboo words is the euphemisms that are used in order to avoid obscene speech. This paper will focus on the f word which replaces the word fuck, and as the study will show it also have other meanings and usages. Thus, taboo words or what can be called foul language are words prescribed by culture as being off limits. And the use of this taboo or stigmatized language is usually associated with strong emotions. Then, considered as a very emotional person, it is true that I am a frequent and long time user of the f word, so I will attempt to explain this unique and fascinating word in a different light by showing the etymology, written history, the amazingly flexible use this word has in grammar and the way it is used or not used in media. First of all, it seems that the actual root of the word is very unclear. It is impossible to say precisely when it appeared because so little documentary evidence exists, probably due to the fact that the word was so taboo throughout its early history that people were afraid to write it down. The first recorded use of the word is before 1500 in the English/Latin satirical poem Flen Flyys Non Sunt in celi quia fuccant uuiuys of hely meaning they are not in heaven because they fuck the wives of Ely. Others claim the first known use of fuck is in a Scottish poem by William Dunbar, Ane Brash of Wowing, in 1503. However, it took nearly another century for fuck to make its lexicographic debut in John Florio s 1598 Italian English dictionary. Finally, it seems that fuck remotely derived from the Latin future and Old German ficken/fucken meaning to strike or penetrate , which had the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Monsanto is one of the largest producers of genetically modified crops in the world. Genetically modified crops play a pivotal role in our food supply today. Over 60% of food on the shelves of our supermarkets contain some form of genetically altered soybean, corn or canola. However, Monsantomay not be nice as they seem. Over the past few years Monsanto has been investigated under allegations of collusion and keeping others out of the market with anti competitive business tactics. Collusion is the cooperation of two or more businesses to keep prices high, when they cooperate the public has no choice to buy these high prices goods, and the companies involved make a fortune. Monsanto s business tactics are meant to keep competitors out of the market and to force farmers to be dependent on their products. Monsanto produces a good that isn t exactly the best for the environment. Genetically Modified Organisms, more commonly known as GMO s, are the latest scientific breakthrough. It is essential for every organisation to understand the recruitment trends as by attracting the best talent, organisations will have an advantage over their competitors. When talent planning, organisations should promote a career opportunity, not a job opportunity as this gives a whole new outlook to any potential employee. This can be done by creating a job description for the role in questions. Furthermore, an organisation can identify, through the job description, whether the skills already exist within the organisation or if it is necessary for external recruitment. Cost. Recruitment can be a very costly exercise, especially if not done correctly. It is therefore important to have a recruitment plan in place. A company has to first identify if it wants to promote from within or recruit externally. Does the company want to take on the recruitment procedure itself or use an employment agency? Ensuring that the correct message is put across can eliminate the need for second interviews as the criteria would have been specified in the requirements. Supply and demand. There is a large supply and demand for employees in the care sector. Being able to anticipate the need for staff plays a large part in how a company approaches recruitment. In class, we were taught that diversity is the number of distinct species of animals, insects, plants, etc. that are living in a particular area. We found out that diversity is greater in the tropicsand less towards the poles. This is called the Latitude Diversity Gradient and could be due to one or more of three theories. They are the cradle hypothesis that says the area where speciestend to be born is in the tropical latitudes, the museum hypothesis that says the tropical latitudes provide a better habitat for species that go extinct in other latitudes, and the destination hypothesis that says species migrate to the... The last example that was given was the house mouse and the Norway rat. (Taking a Walk on New York s Wild Side) This last example also shows us that introducing non native species can increase diversity. The problem with that is sometimes those species become invasive species and can have negative effects on the diversity in an area. This can also happen with non native plants and insects species as well. Methods of restoring biological diversity were addressed in this lecture too. The presenter said that the best way to maintain biological diversity is to keep natural area large and undisturbed because a larger space equals more diversity in species. While there are many projects that are working to restoring land to wild habitat, this option is not always possible. When building new parks, panels of experts put a lot of thought into what species would do well if introduced to the area. This includes animals, plants, birds, trees, insects, etc. They then introduce those species to the park when it is finished. Colonialism in North America England s desire for economic gain and religious freedom sparked the beginning of their interest in colonialism in America (Gouch, LeGuin, Walton, 1998). While some settlers came to America in search of gold or other riches, the Puritans that settled the Massachusetts Bay Colony came to escape religious persecution and have freedom to worship as they desired. The Colonist felt since they had no representation in the British parliament, they owed nothing. When no agreement could be reached a revolution was inevitable (Joes, 1996). Another cause of the American Revolution was the desire of the colonists to have freedom of religion and the determination of England that the colonist must remain true to the Church of England. Puritans, a religious group who came to the colonies seeking freedom of religion, wanted to remain a part of the Church of England, but develop their own style of worship. Another more radical religious group, Separatists, wanted a complete break from the Church of England. The goal of both of both the Puritans and the Separatists was to have the freedom to express religious beliefs without fear of persecution by the church or government. England remained firm that the colonist must follow the practice of the Church of England with no variation ( Annenberg Learner, 2013). B2. Tony Kushner s A Gay Fantasia American playwright Tony Kushner s momentous two part production Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes documents the varied lives of five men residing in New York City throughout the 1980s AIDS epidemic. A truly unique aspect, which pertains to Kushner s dramatized narrative, is that each focal male character is homosexual. Although these men may share a collective sexual orientation, they experience their sexuality in their own individualistic ways. Through the lenses of Kushner s male protagonists Roy Cohn, Joseph Pitt, Louis Ironson, Prior Walter and Belize the play endeavours to eradicate conventional perceptions of sexuality as a dichotomized view: heterosexuality/homosexuality. As the narrative progresses, it becomes apparent that Angels in America contends the monolithic stereotype attributed to a homosexual orientation, by reconceptualising the notion of sexuality as one that can be situated upon a spectrum. The spectrum established within the play illustrates the range of contentment each character experiences, regarding their sexuality. For example, the more out of the closet and overtly open one is about the nature of their sexual orientation, the more seemingly secure they are with themselves and vice versa. It appears that each male protagonist s location on the spectrum is ultimately contingent on his enactments of gender performativity. The following analysis seeks to prove that the more effeminate a male character acts, the more open and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Modern Architecture And Ancient Greece Rules of proportion in Architecture and Ancient Greece Proportion is the essence of architecture, and its roots can be traced back to even the ancient Egyptian times. The first recorded information about the theories of proportion comes from Pythagoras s studies on geometry, ratio and the musical scale. This knowledge has been further explored in relation to proportions of things found in nature, such as the discovery of the golden ratio, and the modulation of the parts that make up the human body. This knowledge is documented in Vitruvius s treatice, De Architectura, which contains valuable information about how architecture was perceived in these ancient times. His ideas of the ideal proportions of greek temples, and its relationship to the modular system of the human body is most evident in the flawless harmony of parts that make up the Parthenon. In the mid 5th century BC Pythagoras studied the Greek string instruments, called the lyre and he discovered that two strings with the same length, tension and thickness will sound the same. When the strings are at different lengths, they will most likely sound bad (or dissonant). However, he discovered certain string lengths that were different from one another, but they sounded good (or consonant) when played together. For example when he halved one string, he realised that the notes sounded the same, but at different pitches. This was the discovery of the octave, or diapason, and can be represented as a ratio of 1:2. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a child, I remember going to the library and checking out books when I had a paper or project due for class. As I got older the need for finding books or publications for research purposes decreased considerably. As I entered middle school, a class was being taught on computer literacy, and looking back on that class I see how important it was to get started early. I can only recall one time in the last three years where I stepped foot into a public library, and that was to place my vote for the 2016 presidential election. The fact that I can hop on my phone, and search anything I could possibly want to know about, and that information be displayed in a matter of seconds is an amazing and wonderful thing. The downside to the capability of information at your fingertips is that it causes people (including myself) to be lazy. Vocabulary and literacy levels are lower now, because you don t have to read several books to find what you are looking for. I loved reading for pleasure when I was younger, and still do, but that was because I was required to read more to find answers to questions. • 39. Cry, The Beloved Country, By Alan Paton In South Africa, the plight of apartheid tore apart communities, families, and individuals. It was a social concern that came under increasing attack and response as apartheid reached its zenith in the middle of the 20th century. It was not unlike segregation and the Jim Crow mentality that prevailed in the United States; with its ancient roots and adverse effects. Indeed, one is curiously reminded of Harper Lee s well known novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, and its role in trying to formulate an escape from that system. An escape with various routes, but an escape that interestingly calls back to the nature of innocence and child like questions. It is in this way that Alan Paton s enduring novel, Cry, The Beloved Country, takes on a unique and refreshing approach to a basic question: that of the equality and dignity of all people. Throughout Cry, The Beloved Country, Paton exudes frequent references to childhood, a devout religiosity, and of course, a return to simple questions; all of which contribute the idea of innocence and a certain naivetГ© that contribute significantly to Paton s message. Extended and found in abundance, the warmth and almost reassurance of children provides a foundation and almost stronghold throughout the novel. Both of the central characters around who the story is centralized are old men, but both of them experience a journey that calls to mind the idea that one is never quite finished growing up. Similar to Tsipursky s positive thinking method, I started to think positively. I used Tsipursky s method of positive thinking , and thought If you do not believe in yourself, how do you expect other people to believe in you? (Paragraph 8). By thinking positively and optimistically, I was able to envision my successful speech. The speech anxiety I once possessed had now disappeared, and I knew that I was ready to deliver a successful speech. This daunting experience provided me with a valuable lesson, which was to never think pessimistically. The end of the story reads, a sad, negative atmosphere. In the story, The Fall of the House of Usher , Mr. Usher s wife was supposed to be dead, but later in the story she was thought not to be and Mr. Usher started panicking because he realized that she was not dead. That was when Madeline Usher burst through the door and scared Mr. Roderick Usher so bad that he died. The story says, For a moment she remained trembling and reeling to and fro upon the threshold, then, with a low moaning cry, fell heavily inward upon the person of her brother, and in her violent and now final death agonies, bore him to the floor a corpse, and a victim to the terrors he had anticipated. This is telling how Roderick Usher died in the end. After reading this, the reader feels nervous and anxious because death is not a subject that usually makes people comfortable. The story, a bit longer than some of Poe s other works, The Pit and the Pendulum is about a person in jail. It is not a common jail as some might think. This prison was made to torture people and give them pain. During this story, the reader was tied up and a pendulum with a blade started to swing back and forth and began to come closer and closer to the person. I kept thinking about my life and how it has turned into nuisance. I couldn t imagine any scenarios that could keep my infuriated mind in a placid state. I decided to wake up, drink the Starbucks that I was fond of and start writing about how I can get the life I want to live. As I took a sip from that frigid bottle I heard a creak from outside the window. The rusty gate between those old fences kept on making a squeak as the wind bashed it every now and then. I never discerned that annoying sound it made before. It must have been the way I used to see the world I lived in before. Never troubled and never perturbed. My mindwas so prone to distractions as it constantly looked for things to whine about. That squeaky gate made me obnoxious. It felt like my fate was laughing on me. • 49. Suicide And Stereotypes Over the past several decades, suicide has been a topic of great concern amongst researchers and psychologists who continue to see a rise in the number of annual suicides. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States. However, it is the third leading cause of death among individuals between ages 10 14 and the second leading cause of death among 15 34 year olds (Piscopo 2). Just over the last forty years, suiciderates for all ages have been on a steady incline, which has pushed researchers to investigate possible causes. Particular attention has been paid to the possible influence news and television coverage of suicide may have on the general populous. The theory that media stories can cause a spike of imitative suicides is known as The Werther Effect, obtained from the belief that Goethe s novel The Sorrows of Young Werther in 1774 triggered an increase in the number of suicides, leading to its ban throughout Europe (Gould 1269). Since then, there has been extensive research into the way suicide is portrayed in the news, on television, in plays, music literature and social media. In more recent years, researchers have found a strong relationship between suicide portrayals in newspapers or on television and a subsequent increase in suicide rates (Hawton 1374). However, one form of mass communication that has not been properly investigated is suicide portrayals in fashion advertisements. Today, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
