Case Study Of Supervalu
Justin Powell

Case Study (Supervalu)
1.Evaluate Supervalu s new professional development program. What do you like/dislike about it?
Will it appeal to college recruits? Why or why not?
Supervalu designed a program named Professional Development Program (PDP) because Paul
Cimmerer wanted to attract high potential college graduates who want to make careers in
distribution, category management, retail, and corporate activities. The reason for the attraction is
because upper management believed that the company lacked experience workers for entry level
jobs within the core business units. The long term goal for the company is to find a talented
worker who will grow within the company. The strategic plan of obtaining this goal... Show more

Another challenge that PDP might face in the future is that there are too many risks attached to
the program. An issue is that the PDP might face a challenge from its current employees because
there is nothing in it for them. The opportunity of career development and growth are directed
towards graduates in which might upset current employees as they feel neglected. Another
challenge is that the program isolates people with a GPA of 3 or higher. There should be other
ways to seek out talent. A potential challenge that the company could run into is that the individual
invested into does not stay with the company or later down the road is not the ideal candidate for
the company. The company runs the risk of losing that trainee after investing so much into them.
Another challenge is that the program branches across a widespread that if one single entity does
not cooperate, it could jeopardize the program. An example would be the person who is doing the
coaching because if that person does not do an adequate job then the company runs the risk of
losing the

Identifying As A Sexual Minority
Identifying as a sexual minority can be as isolating as it can be a communal experience. Sexual
identities tend to exist in flux as individuals begin to grow understand more about themselves, their
preferences, and the labels they may or may not choose to adopt. Unfortunately, this explorative
process is not always encouraged when these same individuals encounter heteronormative
expectations for their life and behavior. Access to Internet communities comprised of individuals
with varying sexual identities, rupture these localized cultural boundaries and insert varying queer
identities. Their offline setting may prevent the chance for self discovery in a way that is vital to
their health during major stages of development; however, their participation in communities online
allow for the formation of identities otherwise unrepresented in the physical reality they see around
them. Within this paper, the umbrella term queer will be used to encompass many different sexual
identities mentioned. While once used as a derogatory term, it has been rebranded and revitalized
as a term of unification for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. In order to prevent erasure of
the narrative of subsets of members within the larger queer community, their identities will be
included. When discussing the larger implications of the development of sexual minority
identification, queer will be employed. The formation of sexual identities is a layered and often
lengthy process. Unfortunately, when

Jordan Human Rights Violations
When the topic of human rights violations is brought up in regards to the Middle East, it is likely
that countries such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Syria are among the first to come to mind. Although
Jordan does not have nearly as many violations as the aforementioned, several civil liberties are
being consistently violated despite the country s commitment to human rightsand national security.
Jordan has been one of the steadiest allies of the United States in the fight against terrorism as
well as being an advocate for creating and maintaining peace in the Middle East, but what Jordan
may be applauded for is also a cause of conflict on the human rights front. Credit must be given to
Jordan for its cooperation with the United Nations and human rights standards, being one of the
most progressive in its geographical area. It is also one of the few countries in the Middle East
that extended a standing invitation for any special procedures, which means the state will always
accept requests to visit from all special procedures, which sacrifices a significant amount... Show

Jordan is hosting approximately 700,000 refugees from Syria as well as 12,000 Palestinian
refugees from the neighboring Israel, which has its own record of human rights abuses. The
refugees are so great in number and the efforts to care for them are underfunded by the state,
therefore their conditions are progressively worsening; children are going without education and
men and women are left unemployed and at the mercy of the state, which is violation of a number
of treaties, especially the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The refugee crisis does
not have a simple solution, and resources are straining in Jordan where the population is nearly 6.5

task to accomplish without negatively affecting the citizens of

Wal-Mart Takes on the World Summary
Intl Business 338 10, September, 2010 Wal Mart takes on the World The following paper is a
summary of how Wal Mart has faced limited growth on American soil, was forced to look else
where for growth opportunities, particularly in foreign countries, where market shares were already
established. Wal Mart found itself facing political, ideological, cultural, and technological barriers
in its attempt to enter the markets on foreign soil. Wal Mart deliberately selected emerging markets
as a starting point for international expansion (pg.395). In Latin America, Wal Mart targeted large

Since many of the small scale department stores in India are the major contributors to the Indian
economy, the entry of Wal Mart into Indian market creates a lot of negative effect on the Indian
small scale industry. This may lead to loose the business to many of the middle and small scale
people. Local traders from the major of the cities were opposed the entry of retail giant Wal Mart
especially in Delhi because it will affect the local traders or business man and also for small
retail shop. They have the issue of domestic traders will be totally neglected. Wal Mart in order to
capture the Indian market is trying to introduce low price strategy on their products which inturn
affect the other local businesses. Local traders later also should implement this pricing strategy
which may affect their profit margin. But in return the consumers may benefit a lot from this. Due
to the entry of Wal Mart into the Indian market the competition may increase between local
retailing businesses like Pantaloon, Reliance etc. we can see a tough competition between these
business units in future . From the analysis there is advantages and disadvantages for Wal Mart to
enter in the Indian retailing system. From the arrival of the Wal Mart to India FDI will be
increased in India and most of the retail stores will have the subsidiaries in many of the places to
increase the availability of the customers. Most of the foreign retail outlets is

Reflection For My Personal Assignment
My theme for my second final piece follows on from my last theme of colour. This piece also
expresses personality through the use of colour, however, I moved away from using colour to
form the portraits and decided to make the background of my final piece to focus on colour and
pattern. I want to create a sense of how my personality is like just by the sight of my drawing
and background. Originally, my idea began with the thought of creating two different pieces.
The message I wanted to convey with this was to show the growth of my personality from then
till now. The first piece idea consisted of a portrait drawing of me as a young child while the
background the background would be either patterns or random painting techniques. The pattern
determined how my personality was like as a young child (for example, a structured background
with repeated pattern shows a confident and determined personality while random mark
makings reflect a creative or angry personality). I wanted this drawing to have smooth pencil
strokes to create a pure and soft look to represent my young age. For my second drawing of me
in my represent state, I wanted the pencil strokes (used to create the drawing) more rough such
as cross hatching strokes technique. The cross hatches will be a representation of me being
more confident in myself as well as how the idea of who I am has developed to this age.The
background for the first drawing applies to the second one also. During the process of my
research, I decided to focus on creating one final piece. The final piece would be my idea of
using drawing myself from a young age that I was and then doing a background pattern following
the design idea I previously mentioned. Throughout this second part of this project, I researched
on mark making drawing techniques from artists such as Rembrandt and Da Vinci. Rembrandt s
marks of his drawing overlap each other many times. Rembrandt focus on using his marks to create
form and tones, while Da Vinci s mark makings are more structured and technical due to his
engineering experience. Davinci s marks mainly arranged in a diagonal order. In addition to mark
making, I researched on drawing techniques used to drawing children with. From that

would provide the habitat with more packing efficiency as in case of inflatable structures and the
stiff central core will enhance the load carrying capabilities. The central core consisted of 8

the crew from radiations during solar flares) and repositionable launch shelves (which would
reposition themselves once the habitat is in orbit). While designing an inflatable habitat, it is

Rosa Parks Impact On Civil Rights
Rosa Parks was a strong, powerful woman who was one of the well known Civil Rights figures
during the Civil Rights Movement. She sparked the movement by refusing to leave the seat on a
bus in Montgomery, Alabama, which caused her to get arrested. Due to this action, it has
encouraged African Americans to protest discrimination in public facilities and demand equal
rights. Although most historians discussed Parks impact on social justice, they did not discuss
Parks involvement of fighting against sexual violence. African American women were raped by
white men in southern states since the beginnings of slavery. White men were able to get away
with the crime because black women were unable to seek justice against rapists because of
discrimination. Parks did not let them get away with the crime, so she helped black women seek
justice against them. Parks action has helped encourage women to step out of their shadows and
address the issues of rapeculture in the southern states. Parks achievement of fighting sexual
violence in the black community was uncommon in American history, but it is important for people
to be informed about the cruelty of rape culture.
To start with Parks involvement against rape, Parks had experienced discrimination and violence at
an early age. Most African American children were aware of racism throughout the southern states.
In most cases, young black women were prepared for the hostility of racism because African

Kant And Kant s Metaphysical Theorizing
Kant s metaphysical theorizing was in large part focused on the matter of how synthetic a priori
judgements were possible. For Kant, the question of how synthetic a priori judgements operated
was central to understanding the nature of human thinking, and to enabling metaphysics.
Previously Kant had been alerted to the writings of David Hume. Hume had effectively claimed
that knowledge only came from analytic a priori judgments or by synthetic a posteriori. Hume
criticized the notion of cause and effect, and claimed it to be product of conventions of thought,
rather than reason. Kant had recognized that if Hume s claims were to be regarded and applied to
other key concepts, that it would undermine the basis of metaphysics; due the criticisms ability to
be applied to many other key notions of the world. Since metaphysics was being called into
question, and it seemed that people were not making progress in metaphysical understanding in the
way the sciences seemed to have been doing, Kant figured that he needed to discern away in which
metaphysics was possible, and could be established as a science.
Kant begins by considering how metaphysics could be determined. This would involve figuring its
object, sources of cognition, and /or type of cognition. Firstly, metaphysics must be non empirical,
and its principles and basic ideas must not be derived from experience. Thus, metaphysics must be a
priori cognition coming from pure understanding and pure reason . It is distinguished

The Budget Of The NASA Budget
In the 2017 fiscal year (Oct. 2016 Sept. 2017), the budget for NASA was 19 billion US dollars
[1]. However, the total budget for the United States in 2017 is 3,650 billion US dollars [2]
making the NASA budget only .52% of the United States budget for the 2017 fiscal year. Even
though 19 billion US dollars seem like a large amount of money, in comparison to 1966, the height
of the Apollo mission, the budget for NASAwas 5.9 billion United Statesdollars [3] which was
.83% of the National budget of 708 billion dollars [4]. Also, with the 122 million citizens [5]

Only 10% of the budget is going to go to space technology because even though there is still a
need to continue developing technologies for space, it does not need the same funds as other
sections, and without any large space missions in the near future it is not as pressing as other
categories like science, exploration, and space operations.
The third category is exploration which will receive 27% of the budget. The exploration budget
will go to projects like space transportation systems and human missions to the moon and mars.
Projects such as these require a large portion of the budget due to their expensive nature, but
despite the cost, these missions gain public support. Without such missions, the public would not
have supported the United States spending billions of dollars on scientific research. Additionally,
these missions help gain an understanding of the universe. The fourth category is Aeronautics
which will receive 7% of the budget. Aeronautic projects would include new aircraft and new air
traffic control systems. This category is similar to space technology where there still needs to be
research in the field but it does not require as much money as other parts of NASA. Also, there
are more companies in the private sector of aeronautic that will be researching similar topics.
Therefore to save money for different products aeronautics received the lowest part of the budget.
Lastly, space operations will receive 26% of the budget. Space

He was born in Long island, New York. His mother Joan Hamburg was a former model, so fashion
had always influenced his life. Joan Hamburg was Jewish and Karl Anderson Sr was of Swedish
decent. When he was 5 years old his mother remarried causing the boy to get to pick a new first

Make it or Break it
Michael faced challenges along his road to success. His plan was to graduate from college but
that plan changed when he dropped out of the fashion institute of technology after 9 months. He
worked for a boutique then was able to get his brand bigger and more recognizable but a
bankruptcy in 1993 forced Kors line to discontinue for a period of time

Michael Kors has shown me in many ways that hard work and persistence pays off. When you love
something as much as Michael Kors loved fashion you work hard to achieve goals involving it .I
will forever look at his life as an inspiration to do what you love and never stop.

Analysis Of The Woman Hollering Creek
In the Woman Hollering Creek, Sandra Cisneros makes use of several short stories to expose the
Mexican culture destined gender roles inequalities against women. From an utterly young age, most
Mexican girls are endangered to take the household responsibilities as their core duty. Once they
reach adolescence, they imperiled to think about marriage as the unrivaled way for them to leave
their parent s support. I argue that the Mexican culture through the medium of tradition and media
are assembling a society in which woman, from the moment they are born, bear a life of parental
and marital submission.
Moreover, in the Woman Hollering Creek, Cisneros exposes the story of Cleofilas Hernandez.
Cisneros unveils parental submission in Cleofilas life on the first page. Cisneros writes, The day
Don Serafin gave Juan Pedro Martinez Sanchez permission to take Cleofilas Enriqueta DeLeon
Hernandez as his bride... (Cisneros 43). This is significant because it emphasizes the power Don
Serafin has over Cleofilas life, he is in power to directly decide whom she is going to marry by
rejecting or accepting individual. Although, many would argue that rather giving Serafin Cleofilas
is just following the tradition of asking the parents. Since her mother is deceased her father is the
only option, nonetheless, the diction suggests that rather than Cleofilas asking for permission
appears that Cleofilas is being given away. In this instance, her hand is not remotely mentioned thus

Class Dismissed How TV Frames The Working Class
Karl Marx was born in Trier, Germany in 1818. He was a Economist, Philosopher and a

the various theories and concepts developed by Marx, his theory on the capitalist economic system

Marx was born in a fairly wealthy middle classfamily, Marx has always questioned the capitalist
system that is being utilized. More recently with the emergence of media, the capitalist system

Interoperability can be linked to early civilization times when people would network, exchange
goods and travel by long distances. There are two definitions that explain the functioning of
interoperability. The first is having the ability of two or more systems to exchange information and
the ability of those systems to use the information that has been exchanged (Fridsma, 2013).
Interoperability has three core fundamentals: Foundational, structural, and semantic.
The foundational concept allows the data exchange from one information technology system to be
received by another, but does not require the ability for the receiving end to interpret the data
(Levy, 2014). An example of this would be hospital environmental services being able to use the
same program to see what patient rooms need cleaning, that the physicians, nurses and other core
staff, but just the basics. They would not have access to patient s medical records, treatment plans
and E Mar orders; however they may be able to see if the patient has MRSA or contact precautions.
Another example of the foundational concept of interoperability is the lab sending test results in
Microsoft Word, the nurse would have to download the attachment print it and read the document
and interpret it to other health team members. Once it s analyzed by all parties, if feedback is

Comparsion of the Thematic of Violence in Earlier and...
Compare and contrast the thematic of violence in earlier and later Heaney
Heaney s poetry grants sectarian killing in Northern Ireland a historical respectability which is not
usually granted in day to day journalism (Morrison, 68)
Seamus Heaney was born in Derry, Northern Ireland. Derry was a bitterly divided city that soon
became to the fore of the troubles . In the 1970 s Northern Ireland s sectarian divisions hit a new
level of extreme and t the troubles became violent and dangerous in the early 1970 s. With the
change of situation in the North there also came a change in Heaney s writing. His poems seemed
to grow more sociological and political as he delved into the troubled psychology of his homelands

Whereas others criticised Heaney for having an unbalanced view of the troubles. Readership was
not affected as we know by Heaney s sales and rewards but reviewers who might represent these
readerships have differed widely in their responses to what the Swedish Academy praised as
Heaney s analysis of the violence in Northern Ireland .
Seamus Deane in his works, observes that although political echoes are audible in Death of a
Naturalist and in Door into the Dark, there is no consciousness of politics as such, and certainly
no political consciousness until Wintering Out and North (Deane, 783). Wintering Out is
divided in to two sections and is the most poetically complexed of Heaney s works to date at that
time. The book is a vital publication to examine when referring to the theme of violence as it is
in this issue we see the emergence of a different style of poem. The title of the poem is even
portraying that of a bleak and dark mode. The title Wintering Out also alludes the reader to the
famous opening line of Richard III, Now is the winter of our discontent ... As we know Richard
III is based on a corrupt state, with murder and violence. Perhaps Heaney was leading the reader
from the beginning to the dark political mode of his new work as reference to a somewhat corrupt
state which has been plagued by an unsolved murder sets the pessimistic for a lot of the poems in
Part One. (O Donoghue, 22)

PLOT SUMMARY
On Isla Nublar, a park like never before has been built to inhabit genetically engineered dinosaurs.
The founder of the park, John Hammond, requests a couple of paleontologist, Dr. Alan Grant and
Dr. Ellie Sattler to come to his park to ensure that everything is safe before he opens the park next
year. Along with them a chaos theorist Dr. Ian Malcolmwas asked to come to the island as well.
When they first make it to the island, they are all in awestruck that there were living and
breathing dinosaurs right in front of them. However, as they began to see what was happening
behind the scenes and what types of dinosaurs they were genetically engineering, they became
concerned. Later, Hammond s grandchildren join the group to go on a car tour of the park.
Meanwhile, the computer systems man, Dennis Nedry is secretly trying to steal embryos from the
park to sell to a secret buyer. In the process, he shuts down the power, which allow many dinosaurs
to escape

My Engagement With Teach First Leadership Development Program
This portfolio seeks to critically reflect on my engagement with the Teach First Leadership
Development Program (TFLDP) and how the Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
offered as part of the program has influenced my current and future classroom practice. The
TFLDP is the official title given to the training program that all Teach First participants are
expected to complete. The program is two years in duration, throughout which, participants are
offered various forms CPD, all of which falls under three broad headings; Leading Self, Leading
People and Leading Learning. In this assignment, I will focus on how, in conjunction with Teach
First support staff and CPD opportunities, I have addressed two of the three key strands; Leading
Learning and Leading people. The first strand I will focus on is Leading Learning. I will describe
how I worked with my LeadershipDevelopment Officer and Educational Consultant to engage
passive learners by introducing cooperative learning into the classroom, I will critically reflect
on the progress we made towards the vision I created. Secondly, I will focus on how a session
forced me to address the wider issues facing my students outside of the classroom and the work
that I have done with the East Midlands Action Network (EMAN) to make progress towards
providing Socio economically disadvantaged children with enriching experiences.

But since you don t stay for too long in Bromo, a foggy morning is a natural phenomenon too
pity to be missed (you may not see this phenomenon in your country!). Fog always comes at

Social Technical Theory in Knowledge Management
May 20, 2010
Henry David Thoreau once said, True friendship can afford true knowledge. It does not depend on
darkness and ignorance . (Lewis 2006) If we look at friendship as an organization, and relationships
within, you will find that Thoreau s statement is relevant to knowledge management. Information
sharing between divisions, branches, and individuals is critical to the success of all. Additionally,
John Adams has stated, The preservation of the means of knowledge among the lowest ranks is of
more importance to the public than all the property of rich men in the country . (Lewis 2006) This
directly supports Thoreau s concept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Levinson, 2007) The position of knowledge management traffic cop is key to the rate at which
an organization is able to learn. A single repository for the assembly and deployment of tools and
applications is critical to the success of a KM program. Levinson also warns that KM is not just
about a web portal, collaborative data base, or other electronic tools. It s about Social Network
Analysis (SNA) how does knowledge thread its way through an organization, and does everyone
speak the same language. Social Network Analysis is a diagnostic method for collecting and
analyzing data about the patterns of relationships among people in groups. Applied to knowledge
management, SNA can identify patterns of interaction in an enterprise, including its properties,
such as the average number of links between people in an organization, the number and qualities of
subgroups, information bottlenecks and knowledge brokers. SNA provides a view into the network
of relationships that gives knowledge managers leverage to: Improve the flow of knowledge and
information; Acknowledge the thought leaders and key information brokers (and bottlenecks);
Target opportunities where increased knowledge flow will have the most impact on your bottom
line. The method includes a simple survey that requests that people in an organization indicate their

Unit 4 Heat And Temperature
Unit 4: Heat and Temperature
Topic A: Illustrate and explain how human needs have led to technologies for obtaining and
controlling thermal energy and to increased use of energy resources.
Investigate and interpret examples of heat related technologies and energy used in the past (e.g.
domestic and industrial purposes)
Steam engines were the first engine type to see use in industrial purposes. A fire heats water which
turns to steam and the steam then has the ability to move things. They were first invented by
Thomas Newcomen in 1705, and James Watt (a Scottish inventor) made big improvements to steam
engines in 1769. Steam engines powered all early cars, steamboats and factories.

Describe the effect of heat on the motion of particles, and explain changes of state using the particle
model of matter.
There are four basic components for thermal energy (heat): 1. All matter is made up of tiny
particles called atoms. These can only be seen with special microscopes. 2. The atoms are always
moving they all have kinetic energy. 3. The particles have space between them. Different states of
matter have different amounts of space. 4. Adding heat (energy) to matter makes the particles move
more quickly. Since faster moving things have more kinetic energy, adding heat increases the
energy of the particle. 5. Cooling it down decreases the amount of kinetic energy and slows the
movement down.
Distinguish between heat and temperature, and explain temperature using the concept of kinetic
energy and the particle model of matter.
Temperature: the average kinetic energy of individual atoms and molecules
Heat Energy: The collection of random molecules in action.

sterilization Essay
The only way to ensure that sterilization has occurred is to use the biological monitoring methods.
This is because these are the only tests done which show whether or not actual microbial life has
been killed. Biological methods are the only ones which are recommended by the CDC (Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention), the AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical
Instrumentation), the AMA (American Medical Association), OSHA, and OSAP (Office Safety
and Asepsis Procedures Foundation)
Biological monitoring is basically evaluating a sterilization process by rendering highly resistant
bacterial spores biologically inert. The highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After exposure they are incubated along with an unexposed or control group of spores for the
same period of time. If sterilization has occurred the spores which were exposed will not multiply.
The control group should grow microorganisms and display a change in color. If this does not
occur, then it s spores have been inactivated and the test is invalid. This is because if the control
spores were inactivated, it is possible the spores which were exposed also became inactivated prior
to sterilization. Every item sterilized in the load with the indicator involved in an invalid test is
considered unsterile. This is the case whenever there is an uncertainty about either the indicator of
the control.
Biological testing should be done often. The CDC recommends one spore strip test per sterilizer
per week. The biological indicator should be placed in the center of the largest and most difficult
to sterilize pack. The pack should then be placed horizontally in the lower front portion of the of
the sterilizer chamber to make the sterilization process as difficult as possible. Testing should be
done repeatedly every time a sterilizer is calibrated, repaired, or relocated to make sure the
machine is working correctly. It should also be performed whenever a new type of packaging
material or tray is used, after training new sterilization personnel, and after any change in sterilizer
loading procedures.

Our Insistence Upon Resistance
Our Insistence upon Resistance
I believe it is better to do what pleases the real you before doing what would please a hypothetical
other. Subsequently, the act of resistance that I most identify with out of the novels we have
read is in Alif the Unseen, with the choice of Dina to reject what she is supposed to do, and dress
as she pleases. Her decision to wear the Niqab as an expression of her devotion to sainthood, despite
the fact that it would make her worth less to others is a powerful one. Unlike Intisar, who veiled
herself elaborately as a mark of high class, Dina chose to do so to resist her expected role as the
bare faced, underpaid ornament to someone s office or nursery, and create for herself a world
that she finds beautiful (30). This relates to my life in how I reject the obligation to always dress
in a way that is expected of my gender, and instead present myself in a way that pleases me, even
if to others it may make me less valuable.
When I came to college, I wore my hair in long, caramel ringlets, often with a faux rose clipped in
the front. Within a few months, I donned a brushed back undercut, frequently accompanied by
my favorite button down and bow tie. I worked out as I had before; although now my goal was to
become stronger, not thinner. Soon, as many college students do, I became the proud owner of a
permanent piece of body art. As I entered my journey to independence, I resisted the presentation of
myself I felt obligated to adhere to in my

Resinsof Bakelite
Bakelite s molding process had a number of advantages. Bakelite resin could be provided either as
powder or as preformed partially cured slugs thus increasing the speed of the casting.
Thermosetting resinsof Bakelite though require heat and pressure during the molding cycle, but
without being cooled it could be removed from the molding process, hence the molding process
becomes faster [36]. Because of the smooth polished surface that is obtained, Bakelite objects
required less finishing. Bakelite can be molded very quickly thus it is good for mass production of
identical units. Moldings are smooth, retain their shape and are resistant to heat, scratches and

How Can We Deal with the Problem of Illegal Immigration Essay
How Can We Deal With The Problem Of Illegal Immigration?
Being here as an illegal immigrant is a huge problem. Tax payer s money pays for their medical
bills, the jails, and deportation back to where they came from. Our jobs and identities are being
taken away as well. Coming to the United States is seen as an advantage to get ahead in life for
most other countries. When they take advantage of breaking the system it effects the citizens more
so than it does them. There are several people who came here and worked hard to get their
citizenship the legal way. When it seems the government is letting them get away with breaking the
law it attracts more people to come here illegally.
Illegal immigration refers to the action of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, research indicates that the majority of the illegal immigrants go to their chosen
destinations for the primarily economic and personal reasons, such as search for jobs opportunities
and family reunification. It thus implies that by understanding the reasons as to why these people
migrate illegally, the respective states may come up with executable measures to ensure that illegal
immigration is no more. The best option for solving the issue of illegal immigration in an effective
manner is by removing the incentives that draw the people into other states without following the
recommended legal procedures (Hoffmeier, 2009).
At first, the governments experiencing cases of illegal immigration need to enforce their laws of
immigration and to crack down on those employers that hire illegal aliens. The governments
should decide to make it a felony act for employing people without undergoing the proper
channels of immigration and checking the applicant s background (Gaines Kappeler, 2011). The
only way of making illegal immigrants leave the countries under which they reside illegally is by
making life difficult for them to keep on leaving there. For example, the governments should opt to
ignore granting driver s licenses, public schooling opportunities, food stamps and permanent
employment to the people that reside in the states illegally. Choosing this option is essential
because it is very hard to track and trace

Physiological And Pathological Systems Within The...
Redox signalling is an electron transfer process that is crucial in biological systems. Redox
signalling is found in many physiological and pathological systems within the circulatory system.
Redox signalling is usually induced by an overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which
can alter the functions of cell processes. Harris,(2012). ROS are radicals that contain one or more
unpaired electrons and can be the oxygenradical superoxide or the non radical hydrogen peroxide
(H2O2). ROS can also contribute to vascular modelling by phenotype modification of the smooth
muscle cells, growth and even the death of cells. This shows the need for redoxsignalling and it has
many roles within the body. Harris. (2012). Redox signalling is important as exposure to oxidative
stress can cause imbalances that can contribute to infections and toxins. Thiol based redox couples
can form independent signals that can regulate any imbalances and are linked to any changes that
occur in redox potentials. Harris. (2012). Cysteine is an amino acid and it can undergo oxidative
modifications to perform different functions. Cysteine can form cross links to stabilise proteins and
it functions as a reversible on/off switch in redox signalling. Paget,(2003). Cysteine is a nucleophile
that can react under different conditions, due to the thiol functional group. Conte,et al. (2000).

Winslow Homer Hero
I did my modern masterpiece on Winslow Homer, and I recreated his piece The Blue Boat.
Winslow created many beautiful oil paintings that were focused around America, and he was able
to create some of the most realistic paintings for his time. In his artwork he painted people, nature,
and nature lighting as they really appear. Before we further discuss my own panting, it s necessary
to recap information on Winslow s career.
Winslow Homer was born in 1836, in Boston, Massachusetts. He and his family lived close to a
sea, and his father was the owner of a company that bought and sold goods from ships that traveled
across the sea. This might of been what inspired Winslow s many sea and boat paintings. While

When I first picked up the book for Winslow, I didn t expect to be inspired by his work. Yet,
besides other artists his artwork stuck out to me, mainly the ones water related. I decided to
choose The Blue Boat, as my modern masterpiece because I felt that it was a combination of his
drawings including people, as well as his drawings of nature and the sea. It was a balance between
the types of artwork he created, and my interest in the sea. When I first brought in the my sketch I
thought of using paint, but seeing that Winslow did use watercolor at one point, I decided to go
with that. In the drawing I was going for a more dystopian feel, so i didn t want to dilute the blue
too much. I kept a dark tone to the piece and created a contrast between the dark colors of the top
of the page, and the light colors of the bottom of the page. To modernize the piece I added
buildings, smoke stacks and a Mcdonald s sign to the background. The piece shows what could
happen if pollution gets out of hand, murky lakes and smoke filled skies. In the piece I replaced
the trees with buildings, and with the buildings I tried to create a visual equilibrium between the
two sides of the piece. Throughout the entire time of drawing and coloring the piece, I enjoyed the
challenge of using a new

This helps to combat any weight issues. The senior dog food also contains more fiber for the
different needs in your dog s diet. As dogs age, they tend to suffer from constipation. This extra
fiber will help remedy this problem.
Renal failure can be another medical problem for senior dogs. How can your dog s diet help this
problem? Reducing the amount of protein in your dog s diet will decrease the work load for the
kidneys. For this reason, senior dog food frequently has lower protein content than regular adult
formulas.
Whenever possible, allow your dog to eat dry dog food to encourage excellent dental health. The

During the times of the Great Depression, film was viewed as a valuable importance to people.
Film during this time of distress contributed to the maintenance of the national morale of America.

Ad Campaign of an Online University s Bachelor s Degree...
Online University s Bachelor s Degree Program Ad Campaign
At the center of any effective advertising campaign is a very clear definition of who the customer
is, what their needs are, and what expectation they have of service. For an online university
bachelor s degree program this is critically important to the success of any advertising, public
relations and marketing program. The student and their needs to become the center of these
strategies if they are to succeed.
For any student considering one online university bachelor s program over another, their criterion
will include expertise of the facility, ease of using the online tools and what the total experience
will be like. Marketing services based businesses incouding education on the dimensions of student
or customer experience is critical to their success. Services must underscore the role of experiences
in benefitting and increasing the value delivered to customers; just speaking of features or
functional attributes of a service is not sufficient (Palmer, 2010).
The advertising, PR and marketing strategies all must be coordinated around a common message to
prospective students that underscore the online universities competencies and show it is worthy of
trust. Prospective students are evaluating online universities as the foundations for their future and
therefore accreditation, reputation of the school and tis instructors, and value of the degree after
graduation all must be considered. Unifying marketing,

Health Law and Regulations In understanding regulatory agencies the differences between
regulation and legislation needs defining. Legislation is the law that has been passed by a voting
process and regulation is the responsibility of the regulatory board appointed to enforce laws once
the law is passed; it sets forth rules on how the laws are to be implemented and to what degree. In
health care the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has the predominant
responsibility to enforce legislation that impacts the health and well being of Americans. Under the
umbrella of HHS there are 13 regulatory agencies tasked with setting rules on the enforcement of
the legislation passed by lawmakers. Regulatory Agencies Two of... Show more content on

technology but a method to exchange and use health information to support clinical decisions at the
point of care. To qualify for CMS incentive program

The Opera Rigoletto At The Metropolitan Opera
The opera Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera was conducted by Pablo Heras Casado. The
three principal singers were Piotr Beczala as the Duke, Zeljko Lucic as Rigoletto and Olga
Peretyatko as Gilda. This being my first opera, I was surprised by how large and grandiose the
house was, which is in sharp contrast to my typical experience when I see musicals. The production
decided to place a modern twist on the setting of the opera, rather than the original setting of 16th
century Italy, the story is placed in Las Vegas in the 20th century. The set is constructed to
reflect that in the first act with a casino scene complete with neon lights, card tables and roulette.
In my opinion, this all seemed to distract the viewer from the story and the change in setting didn
t enhance the production itself. Rather it made me think about how out of place this all was
instead of focusing on the opera itself. The first act was fairly difficult for me to suspend
disbelief and get into the plot of the opera. This had much to do with me being initially turned off
by the casino as the setting for this opera. Although in later acts I was able to move past the
modern set that was only because this set became less pronounced in the second and third acts.
Now moving on to the aria s the three I will be focusing on will be the Aria from the Duke La
Donna e Mobile, Bella figlia dell amore, and Della vendetta alfin giunge lВґistante . These scenes
effectively move the audience through their repetition

Heroic Heros
Most of the heroes in the superhero universe can be broken down into three groups. Marvel and
DC Comics are the main contributors to this superhero fandom. These two companies even
contributed the term superhero. Neither company owns it, they just share it. Many of the
interesting heroes/ heroines have brain powers, body powers, and some are even powerless.
This class is the mind boggling brainiac s. Not because they are smart, but because they have
brain powers. Brain powers include telekinesis, aqua kinesis, telepathy, and many more. The
most classic and recognizable candidate for Brainiac s would be Jean Grey. Jean Grey was 10
years old when her mutant telepathic powers first manifested after experiencing the emotions of
a dying friend. ( Jean Grey , 2006, para.1). Her telekinetic abilities allow her to levitate or pick up
cars with her mind. She also has telepathic abilities, this allows her to read minds and put
thoughts in people s brains. Jean and her amazing powers landed her a spot as one of the
founding X Men. Aquaman is another suitable hero for this class. Aquaman, like his name
suggests, has the power to control the water. This is called aqua kinesis. Another cool power of
his is telepathy, like Jean, but with a twist. He uses his telepathy to communicate with the sea
creatures, like the dolphins and the menacing sharks. There are moments where I m in the shower,
or even just playing in water that I feel like aqua man. I feel as if I have his aqua kinetic

Urban Poverty In Planet Of Slums By Mike Davis
In the passage, Planet of Slums by Mike Davis, the author has a dystopic view on urbanization
and argues that urban poverty is increasing and has a negative impact on the world. His dystopic
vision can be written off as a society with undesirable traits such as poverty, oppression, and
overcrowding. Davis s vision on these people s lifestyle can be compared and contrasted with
Robert Neuwirth s view of this lifestyle in his passage, Shadow Cities and the film Sleep Dealer by
Alex Rivera.
The author Mike Davis has done countless research on the topic of urban poverty. In his studies he
collects and receives his information from other sources. Perhaps this is the reason why he has a
negative view on slums. This is illustrated in his piece Planet of Slums as he discusses the politics,
urban development, and methods within the slums population. According to Davis, slums and
urban poverty have and will continue to significantly increase. While doing so, the gap in
exclusion and inequality will grow. As a result, this will weaken urban elites in their work to utilize
cities as engines of growth. Slums and slum population are classified as those who are living below
the poverty lines, all while, being associated with overcrowding, having poor or informal housing,
inadequate access to safe water and sanitation, and insecurity of tenure. This is being recognized as
an international phenomenon. To emphasis this phenomenon, approximately half of the slum
population in most

Claude Mckay Enslaved
Have you ever thought about how life would be like if you were a slave? Getting tired of
people controlling your life and wanting to seek your revenge? In Enslaved by Claude McKay,
it talks about a hatred world where white men treated African Americans unkind. African
Americans rarely had any time to spend with their families, couldn t afford to give them a variety
of foods. They felt oppressed, angry, denied; they wanted to seek revenge. Feeling the urge to
have equal rights with every race in the world. In contrast, they hated slavery; felt racial
prejudice against the world; wanted to seek revenge for their own freedom.
In this poem he uses an abundance of rhyme. Which means, a sound between words or at

my long suffering race, For weary centuries despised, oppressed, Enslaved and lynched, denied a
human place In the great life line of the Christian West. (Mckay). He uses rhyme to get his point
across that, everyone was mistreated during slavery and disinherited. The long suffering race
(McKay). refers to his own reference. Mckays life was a disaster during the 1800 s. Not only did
he wish to have a better life but others did as well.
Mckay also uses simile in his poem. A figure of speech using like or as . African
Americans compared their lives to a different issue to get their point across. My heart grows
sick with hate, becomes as lead. (Mckay). He is explaining that his heart turned soft while being
destroyed; never had enough money to feed himself or to support his family. Imagine living life
under someone s dictate all day everyday.
Another literary device he uses is metaphor. A figure of speech in which a word is
applied to an object or action which is not literally applicable. He describes his heart turning into
hate when the heart can t physically or emotionally do that. My heart grows sick

Re:Makah Request for Waiver of MMPA Moratorium
Dear Mr. Stone,
After carefully reviewing the available background information on the Makah Indian Tribe s
request for a waiver of the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) moratorium against hunting of
gray whales, I believe that the waiver by the Makah peoples should be approved. I agree with the
Makah Tribe s position that their treaty rights, granted to them in the Treaty of Neah Bay (1855),
should take precedence over more recently enacted legislation by the United States. Although the

They have provided several Environmental Impact Statements with regards to their prospective
whaling. They have adopted a tribal Management Plan to deal with concerns specific to which
whales were eligible to be hunted (not the PFCA whales) and to address hunt safety issues. The
gray whale was removed from the Endangered Species List in 1994. Current population levels are
robust enough that allowing the Makah Tribe to pursue their requested take of gray whales could
not significantly impact the whale population. In fact, enough data exists to suggest that even if all
the indigenous peoples (aborigines) on the coast of the Pacific Ocean (Russian and US) hunted to
the quota limits allowed by the IWC regulations the gray whale population would still never again
be endangered as they were previously when commercial whaling practices decimated them.
The tribe has agreed to only hunt in offshore waters. Most commercial whale watching happens
within sight of land. Since no hunting will actually occur in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, it is fair to
assume there will be little of no impact on the whale watching industry. While the cetaceans are
very advanced mammals, there is no proof that the killing of a whale, done in the quantities
proposed by the Makah, will change the migratory path of the gray whale. As previously stated,

The First Restoration Continues
During 1963 and 1964 summers, restoration work continued at the island. Dad hired Ronald
Shutler and Jon Short to work on the house in 1963. Jon only worked for us that one summer
whereas Ronald assumed caretaker duties through 1967 when he returned to farming. Ronald had
grown up on a farm in nearby Hammond, and like many young men who grew up on farms, he
was a tireless worker who possessed the desirable trait of staying on task.
I have a photograph showing Ron and Jon painting the front steps while a pair of neighbors and
my sisters are painting the lattice. I recognized the date of this painting party as August 17, 1963.
Dad makes reference to this event in his diary. It was the same day Dad and Mom s hosted their
second annual cocktail party.
Ron and Jon came to work while I was at summer school near Lake Chocorua, New Hampshire. I
fell victim to the sophomore slump, and consequently needed to make up a couple of courses in a
six week session at the High House venue. When I returned, I learned Jon had taken on the
assignment of painting the tower by default.
I asked Ron, Why aren t you doing some of the tower painting too?
I m tending the ropes for the boson chair and when Jon drops a brush like he did yesterday, I
lower a new brush to him. He also sends the empty paint can up to me when he needs a refill.
Couldn t you get the job done quicker if you both painted? I asked.
Probably, but I developed a overwhelming fear of heights after I fell thirty feet

The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall Analysis
The Jilting of Granny Weatherall, a short story by Katherine Anne Porter, describes the last
thoughts, feelings, and memories of an elderly woman. The importance of the title becomes
obvious as Granny Weatherall s life flashes before her eyes. She is an 80 year old woman who is
bedridden, stubborn, sick, and in denial. She has four children one of whom had passed away:
Lydia, Cornelia, Jimmy, and Haps. Critics agree that there is no sign from God that her soul will
be accepted into heaven. Granny Weatherall expects a sign from God, but overlooks it when it is
given. Granny undeniably gets a sign from God; however, she overlooks this sign because it is
Hapsy her last born daughter that had passed away.
Granny has flash backs of her life that goes as far back as 60 years. Hapsy was the one that
Granny wanted. Did you send for Hapsy to? (68) As Granny Weatherall moves closer to death her
thoughts become more scattered. Making connections with her thoughts is possible to conclude
that Hapsy is her favorite daughter that she longs to see once again. Hapsy had been her last born
child, that had passed away. Hapsy melted from within and turned flimsy as gray gauze and the
baby was a gauzy shadow, and Hapsy came up close and said, I thought you d never come, and
looked at her very searchingly and said, You haven t changed a bit! (68) Granny imagines telling
Hapsy many things in Heaven, that she was not able to do so here on earth. Granny was
searching for Hapsy. She had to go long way back through many great rooms to find Hapsy
standing with a baby on her arm. (68) Hapsy was Granny s sign from Christ, but because Granny
overlooked this it is a sign of the rejection of the jilting Granny Weather Courageously faced.
Granny has been through several triumphs in her life. She was about to marry George and he left
her at the altar. After that happened she married and her husband John which passed away. She
learned to be an independent woman that did not rely on anyone. She had fenced in a hundred
acres once, digging the post holes herself and clamping the wires with just a negro boy to help.
(67) She did both chores that the woman and the man would do. At the end, Granny blew out the
light in fear of

The Effects Of Alcohol Abuse On The Body
Alcohol abuse can also cause short term effects to the body. Although there are many different
short term effects, the most common happens to be a hangover which is a group of symptoms
experienced by a person after a heavy consumption of alcohol (Alcoholic 1). Symptoms of a
hangover often consist of nausea, fatigue, thirst, headache, diarrhea, and sensitivity to light and
noise. The severity of a hangoverdepends on several factors; these factors include the amount of
alcoholconsumed, the level of hydration in the body at the time of alcohol consumption, and
disease. Although hangovers are the most common short term effect, blackouts are also a short term
result of alcohol abuse. Consuming large amounts of alcohol can lead to temporary amnesia
where the person is unable to recall events that occurred after he or she began drinking.
Unfortunately, blackouts can lead to serious repercussions, especially if the person is engaged in
sexual activity during that time. Blackouts are much more common among social drinkers than
previously assumed and should be viewed as a potential consequence of acute intoxication
regardless of age (National 1). Drinkers who experience blackouts typically drink too much and
too quickly, which causes their blood alcohol levels to rise very rapidly. Typically, college
students are at risk for experiencing a blackout, as an alarming number of college students engage
in binge drinking. Even though these short term effects do not seem as bad as the

Barn Burning Little Sarty Character Analysis
Throughout William Faulkner s Barn Burning, little Sarty struggles with an internal conflict. He
feels pressured to lie on behalf of his father, Abner, because he is family; but he also feels that he
should tell the truth about his father burning the barn. All his life, Sarty was taught by his father
that blood is the most important thing in life; and because they were a poor family, it s all they had.
Although Sarty was just ten years old, he knew that lying wasn t the right thing to do. However,
he continued to lie for his father out of fear of losing his family. As the story progresses, little
Sarty s internal conflict only gets worse. His father, who would never change his ways, decides
to burn down his new boss s barn. In order to try and stop his father from burning down the barn
and to also stop having to lie on behalf of his father, innocent Sarty, warns the boss of his father s
plan, completely unaware of the danger this would put his father in. Ultimately, his father and
brother are killed and Sarty leaves the rest of his family behind. In Barn Burning, through his

Labor Law Whistle Blowing Dillema Essay
Labor Law Whistle Blowing Dillema Labor relations today, are quite different from those that
existed in England during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries when employment relationships
were considered of very little importance in the eyes of the law. Industrialization and commerce
grew bringing with it the birth of modem day labor law. America was in no way exempt from the
pain of progress. Employer and employee relationships were strained from the very beginning of
labor, and it soon was evident that government intervention would be necessary to keep the labor
movement on track. Several statues have been enacted since the early nineteenth century to deal
with management and unions. Evidence can be seen from the Norris La... Show more content on

(2) The active whistle blower describes employees that voice their concerns over illegal activity
conducted by their employer, and take steps either internally or externally to expose such activity.
The active whistle blower usually creates the most controversy because this person is under the

embryonic whistle blower describes employees who have been terminated before they have the
opportunity to expose their employers practices. These employees are usually terminated because
the employer suspects that they represent a potentially sensitive or unfavorable predicament
(Westman 22). The various forms of retribution that whistle blowers endure at the hands of
employers both financially and psychologically for attempting to correct mismanagement, fraud,
and dishonesty are often too much for the whistle blower to bear. Careers are in jeopardy because
individuals with strong ethics decide to pursue law suits against their employers. One example is
where the US Forest Service employees found their careers ruined by either demotions or loss of
jobs when caught speaking out in favor of the environment or sound science, or when

  • 2. Case Study Of Supervalu Justin Powell November 29, 2016 Case Study (Supervalu) 1.Evaluate Supervalu s new professional development program. What do you like/dislike about it? Will it appeal to college recruits? Why or why not? Supervalu designed a program named Professional Development Program (PDP) because Paul Cimmerer wanted to attract high potential college graduates who want to make careers in distribution, category management, retail, and corporate activities. The reason for the attraction is because upper management believed that the company lacked experience workers for entry level jobs within the core business units. The long term goal for the company is to find a talented worker who will grow within the company. The strategic plan of obtaining this goal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another challenge that PDP might face in the future is that there are too many risks attached to the program. An issue is that the PDP might face a challenge from its current employees because there is nothing in it for them. The opportunity of career development and growth are directed towards graduates in which might upset current employees as they feel neglected. Another challenge is that the program isolates people with a GPA of 3 or higher. There should be other ways to seek out talent. A potential challenge that the company could run into is that the individual invested into does not stay with the company or later down the road is not the ideal candidate for the company. The company runs the risk of losing that trainee after investing so much into them. Another challenge is that the program branches across a widespread that if one single entity does not cooperate, it could jeopardize the program. An example would be the person who is doing the coaching because if that person does not do an adequate job then the company runs the risk of losing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Identifying As A Sexual Minority Identifying as a sexual minority can be as isolating as it can be a communal experience. Sexual identities tend to exist in flux as individuals begin to grow understand more about themselves, their preferences, and the labels they may or may not choose to adopt. Unfortunately, this explorative process is not always encouraged when these same individuals encounter heteronormative expectations for their life and behavior. Access to Internet communities comprised of individuals with varying sexual identities, rupture these localized cultural boundaries and insert varying queer identities. Their offline setting may prevent the chance for self discovery in a way that is vital to their health during major stages of development; however, their participation in communities online allow for the formation of identities otherwise unrepresented in the physical reality they see around them. Within this paper, the umbrella term queer will be used to encompass many different sexual identities mentioned. While once used as a derogatory term, it has been rebranded and revitalized as a term of unification for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. In order to prevent erasure of the narrative of subsets of members within the larger queer community, their identities will be included. When discussing the larger implications of the development of sexual minority identification, queer will be employed. The formation of sexual identities is a layered and often lengthy process. Unfortunately, when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Jordan Human Rights Violations When the topic of human rights violations is brought up in regards to the Middle East, it is likely that countries such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Syria are among the first to come to mind. Although Jordan does not have nearly as many violations as the aforementioned, several civil liberties are being consistently violated despite the country s commitment to human rightsand national security. Jordan has been one of the steadiest allies of the United States in the fight against terrorism as well as being an advocate for creating and maintaining peace in the Middle East, but what Jordan may be applauded for is also a cause of conflict on the human rights front. Credit must be given to Jordan for its cooperation with the United Nations and human rights standards, being one of the most progressive in its geographical area. It is also one of the few countries in the Middle East that extended a standing invitation for any special procedures, which means the state will always accept requests to visit from all special procedures, which sacrifices a significant amount... Jordan is hosting approximately 700,000 refugees from Syria as well as 12,000 Palestinian refugees from the neighboring Israel, which has its own record of human rights abuses. The refugees are so great in number and the efforts to care for them are underfunded by the state, therefore their conditions are progressively worsening; children are going without education and men and women are left unemployed and at the mercy of the state, which is violation of a number of treaties, especially the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The refugee crisis does not have a simple solution, and resources are straining in Jordan where the population is nearly 6.5 million, and 700,000 additional mouths to feed and people to provide health care for is no easy task to accomplish without negatively affecting the citizens of ... Wal-Mart Takes on the World Summary Intl Business 338 10, September, 2010 Wal Mart takes on the World The following paper is a summary of how Wal Mart has faced limited growth on American soil, was forced to look else where for growth opportunities, particularly in foreign countries, where market shares were already established. Wal Mart found itself facing political, ideological, cultural, and technological barriers in its attempt to enter the markets on foreign soil. Wal Mart deliberately selected emerging markets as a starting point for international expansion (pg.395). In Latin America, Wal Mart targeted large growing populations like in Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil; in Asia, it sought out China. Wal Mart used a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since many of the small scale department stores in India are the major contributors to the Indian economy, the entry of Wal Mart into Indian market creates a lot of negative effect on the Indian small scale industry. This may lead to loose the business to many of the middle and small scale people. Local traders from the major of the cities were opposed the entry of retail giant Wal Mart especially in Delhi because it will affect the local traders or business man and also for small retail shop. They have the issue of domestic traders will be totally neglected. Wal Mart in order to capture the Indian market is trying to introduce low price strategy on their products which inturn affect the other local businesses. Local traders later also should implement this pricing strategy which may affect their profit margin. But in return the consumers may benefit a lot from this. Due to the entry of Wal Mart into the Indian market the competition may increase between local retailing businesses like Pantaloon, Reliance etc. we can see a tough competition between these business units in future . From the analysis there is advantages and disadvantages for Wal Mart to enter in the Indian retailing system. From the arrival of the Wal Mart to India FDI will be increased in India and most of the retail stores will have the subsidiaries in many of the places to increase the availability of the customers. • 6. Reflection For My Personal Assignment My theme for my second final piece follows on from my last theme of colour. This piece also expresses personality through the use of colour, however, I moved away from using colour to form the portraits and decided to make the background of my final piece to focus on colour and pattern. I want to create a sense of how my personality is like just by the sight of my drawing and background. Originally, my idea began with the thought of creating two different pieces. The message I wanted to convey with this was to show the growth of my personality from then till now. The first piece idea consisted of a portrait drawing of me as a young child while the background the background would be either patterns or random painting techniques. The pattern determined how my personality was like as a young child (for example, a structured background with repeated pattern shows a confident and determined personality while random mark makings reflect a creative or angry personality). I wanted this drawing to have smooth pencil strokes to create a pure and soft look to represent my young age. For my second drawing of me in my represent state, I wanted the pencil strokes (used to create the drawing) more rough such as cross hatching strokes technique. The cross hatches will be a representation of me being more confident in myself as well as how the idea of who I am has developed to this age.The background for the first drawing applies to the second one also. During the process of my research, I decided to focus on creating one final piece. The final piece would be my idea of using drawing myself from a young age that I was and then doing a background pattern following the design idea I previously mentioned. Throughout this second part of this project, I researched on mark making drawing techniques from artists such as Rembrandt and Da Vinci. Rembrandt s marks of his drawing overlap each other many times. Rembrandt focus on using his marks to create form and tones, while Da Vinci s mark makings are more structured and technical due to his engineering experience. Davinci s marks mainly arranged in a diagonal order. In addition to mark making, I researched on drawing techniques used to drawing children with. From that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a layer of Kevlar behind the layers of Nextel. When a hypervelocity object hits the Nextel layers, it is shattered into pieces thus slowing down the particles and increasing the area. • 8. Rosa Parks Impact On Civil Rights Rosa Parks was a strong, powerful woman who was one of the well known Civil Rights figures during the Civil Rights Movement. She sparked the movement by refusing to leave the seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, which caused her to get arrested. Due to this action, it has encouraged African Americans to protest discrimination in public facilities and demand equal rights. Although most historians discussed Parks impact on social justice, they did not discuss Parks involvement of fighting against sexual violence. African American women were raped by white men in southern states since the beginnings of slavery. White men were able to get away with the crime because black women were unable to seek justice against rapists because of discrimination. Parks did not let them get away with the crime, so she helped black women seek justice against them. Parks action has helped encourage women to step out of their shadows and address the issues of rapeculture in the southern states. Parks achievement of fighting sexual violence in the black community was uncommon in American history, but it is important for people to be informed about the cruelty of rape culture. To start with Parks involvement against rape, Parks had experienced discrimination and violence at an early age. Most African American children were aware of racism throughout the southern states. • 10. Kant And Kant s Metaphysical Theorizing Kant s metaphysical theorizing was in large part focused on the matter of how synthetic a priori judgements were possible. For Kant, the question of how synthetic a priori judgements operated was central to understanding the nature of human thinking, and to enabling metaphysics. Previously Kant had been alerted to the writings of David Hume. Hume had effectively claimed that knowledge only came from analytic a priori judgments or by synthetic a posteriori. Hume criticized the notion of cause and effect, and claimed it to be product of conventions of thought, rather than reason. Kant had recognized that if Hume s claims were to be regarded and applied to other key concepts, that it would undermine the basis of metaphysics; due the criticisms ability to be applied to many other key notions of the world. Since metaphysics was being called into question, and it seemed that people were not making progress in metaphysical understanding in the way the sciences seemed to have been doing, Kant figured that he needed to discern away in which metaphysics was possible, and could be established as a science. Kant begins by considering how metaphysics could be determined. This would involve figuring its object, sources of cognition, and /or type of cognition. Firstly, metaphysics must be non empirical, and its principles and basic ideas must not be derived from experience. Thus, metaphysics must be a priori cognition coming from pure understanding and pure reason . It is distinguished ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Budget Of The NASA Budget In the 2017 fiscal year (Oct. 2016 Sept. 2017), the budget for NASA was 19 billion US dollars [1]. However, the total budget for the United States in 2017 is 3,650 billion US dollars [2] making the NASA budget only .52% of the United States budget for the 2017 fiscal year. Even though 19 billion US dollars seem like a large amount of money, in comparison to 1966, the height of the Apollo mission, the budget for NASAwas 5.9 billion United Statesdollars [3] which was .83% of the National budget of 708 billion dollars [4]. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only 10% of the budget is going to go to space technology because even though there is still a need to continue developing technologies for space, it does not need the same funds as other sections, and without any large space missions in the near future it is not as pressing as other categories like science, exploration, and space operations. The third category is exploration which will receive 27% of the budget. The exploration budget will go to projects like space transportation systems and human missions to the moon and mars. Projects such as these require a large portion of the budget due to their expensive nature, but despite the cost, these missions gain public support. Without such missions, the public would not have supported the United States spending billions of dollars on scientific research. Additionally, these missions help gain an understanding of the universe. The fourth category is Aeronautics which will receive 7% of the budget. Aeronautic projects would include new aircraft and new air traffic control systems. This category is similar to space technology where there still needs to be research in the field but it does not require as much money as other parts of NASA. Also, there are more companies in the private sector of aeronautic that will be researching similar topics. Therefore to save money for different products aeronautics received the lowest part of the budget. Lastly, space operations will receive 26% of the budget. Space ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Analysis Of The Woman Hollering Creek In the Woman Hollering Creek, Sandra Cisneros makes use of several short stories to expose the Mexican culture destined gender roles inequalities against women. From an utterly young age, most Mexican girls are endangered to take the household responsibilities as their core duty. Once they reach adolescence, they imperiled to think about marriage as the unrivaled way for them to leave their parent s support. I argue that the Mexican culture through the medium of tradition and media are assembling a society in which woman, from the moment they are born, bear a life of parental and marital submission. Moreover, in the Woman Hollering Creek, Cisneros exposes the story of Cleofilas Hernandez. Cisneros unveils parental submission in Cleofilas life on the first page. Cisneros writes, The day Don Serafin gave Juan Pedro Martinez Sanchez permission to take Cleofilas Enriqueta DeLeon Hernandez as his bride... (Cisneros 43). This is significant because it emphasizes the power Don Serafin has over Cleofilas life, he is in power to directly decide whom she is going to marry by rejecting or accepting individual. Although, many would argue that rather giving Serafin Cleofilas is just following the tradition of asking the parents. Since her mother is deceased her father is the only option, nonetheless, the diction suggests that rather than Cleofilas asking for permission appears that Cleofilas is being given away. In this instance, her hand is not remotely mentioned thus laying the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Interoperability can be linked to early civilization times when people would network, exchange goods and travel by long distances. There are two definitions that explain the functioning of interoperability. The first is having the ability of two or more systems to exchange information and the ability of those systems to use the information that has been exchanged (Fridsma, 2013). Interoperability has three core fundamentals: Foundational, structural, and semantic. The foundational concept allows the data exchange from one information technology system to be received by another, but does not require the ability for the receiving end to interpret the data (Levy, 2014). An example of this would be hospital environmental services being able to use the same program to see what patient rooms need cleaning, that the physicians, nurses and other core staff, but just the basics. They would not have access to patient s medical records, treatment plans and E Mar orders; however they may be able to see if the patient has MRSA or contact precautions. If sterilization has occurred the spores which were exposed will not multiply. The control group should grow microorganisms and display a change in color. This is because if the control spores were inactivated, it is possible the spores which were exposed also became inactivated prior to sterilization. Every item sterilized in the load with the indicator involved in an invalid test is considered unsterile. This is the case whenever there is an uncertainty about either the indicator of the control. Biological testing should be done often. The CDC recommends one spore strip test per sterilizer per week. The biological indicator should be placed in the center of the largest and most difficult to sterilize pack. The pack should then be placed horizontally in the lower front portion of the of the sterilizer chamber to make the sterilization process as difficult as possible. • 27. Our Insistence Upon Resistance Our Insistence upon Resistance I believe it is better to do what pleases the real you before doing what would please a hypothetical other. Subsequently, the act of resistance that I most identify with out of the novels we have read is in Alif the Unseen, with the choice of Dina to reject what she is supposed to do, and dress as she pleases. Her decision to wear the Niqab as an expression of her devotion to sainthood, despite the fact that it would make her worth less to others is a powerful one. Unlike Intisar, who veiled herself elaborately as a mark of high class, Dina chose to do so to resist her expected role as the bare faced, underpaid ornament to someone s office or nursery, and create for herself a world that she finds beautiful (30). This relates to my life in how I reject the obligation to always dress in a way that is expected of my gender, and instead present myself in a way that pleases me, even if to others it may make me less valuable. When I came to college, I wore my hair in long, caramel ringlets, often with a faux rose clipped in the front. Within a few months, I donned a brushed back undercut, frequently accompanied by my favorite button down and bow tie. I worked out as I had before; although now my goal was to become stronger, not thinner. Soon, as many college students do, I became the proud owner of a permanent piece of body art. It thus implies that by understanding the reasons as to why these people migrate illegally, the respective states may come up with executable measures to ensure that illegal immigration is no more. The best option for solving the issue of illegal immigration in an effective manner is by removing the incentives that draw the people into other states without following the recommended legal procedures (Hoffmeier, 2009). At first, the governments experiencing cases of illegal immigration need to enforce their laws of immigration and to crack down on those employers that hire illegal aliens. The governments should decide to make it a felony act for employing people without undergoing the proper channels of immigration and checking the applicant s background (Gaines Kappeler, 2011). The only way of making illegal immigrants leave the countries under which they reside illegally is by making life difficult for them to keep on leaving there. Redox signalling is found in many physiological and pathological systems within the circulatory system. Redox signalling is usually induced by an overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which can alter the functions of cell processes. Harris,(2012). ROS are radicals that contain one or more unpaired electrons and can be the oxygenradical superoxide or the non radical hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). ROS can also contribute to vascular modelling by phenotype modification of the smooth muscle cells, growth and even the death of cells. This shows the need for redoxsignalling and it has many roles within the body. Harris. (2012). Redox signalling is important as exposure to oxidative stress can cause imbalances that can contribute to infections and toxins. Thiol based redox couples can form independent signals that can regulate any imbalances and are linked to any changes that occur in redox potentials. Harris. (2012). Cysteine is an amino acid and it can undergo oxidative modifications to perform different functions. Cysteine can form cross links to stabilise proteins and it functions as a reversible on/off switch in redox signalling. Paget,(2003). This sparked the beginning of the new movie code, that would be introduced. In 1934 with the Movie Industry still plummeting, the Motion Picture Production code was put into action. The Code was founded in 1930 and was made to censor films and create guidelines for production studios to adhere to. The code was never carried out until 1934, when the Production Code Administration was founded. They required all films and even scripts, be pre approved before going to theaters. Online University s Bachelor s Degree Program Ad Campaign At the center of any effective advertising campaign is a very clear definition of who the customer is, what their needs are, and what expectation they have of service. For an online university bachelor s degree program this is critically important to the success of any advertising, public relations and marketing program. The student and their needs to become the center of these strategies if they are to succeed. For any student considering one online university bachelor s program over another, their criterion will include expertise of the facility, ease of using the online tools and what the total experience will be like. Marketing services based businesses incouding education on the dimensions of student or customer experience is critical to their success. Services must underscore the role of experiences in benefitting and increasing the value delivered to customers; just speaking of features or functional attributes of a service is not sufficient (Palmer, 2010). The advertising, PR and marketing strategies all must be coordinated around a common message to prospective students that underscore the online universities competencies and show it is worthy of trust. Prospective students are evaluating online universities as the foundations for their future and therefore accreditation, reputation of the school and tis instructors, and value of the degree after graduation all must be considered. The three principal singers were Piotr Beczala as the Duke, Zeljko Lucic as Rigoletto and Olga Peretyatko as Gilda. This being my first opera, I was surprised by how large and grandiose the house was, which is in sharp contrast to my typical experience when I see musicals. The production decided to place a modern twist on the setting of the opera, rather than the original setting of 16th century Italy, the story is placed in Las Vegas in the 20th century. The set is constructed to reflect that in the first act with a casino scene complete with neon lights, card tables and roulette. In my opinion, this all seemed to distract the viewer from the story and the change in setting didn t enhance the production itself. Rather it made me think about how out of place this all was instead of focusing on the opera itself. The first act was fairly difficult for me to suspend disbelief and get into the plot of the opera. This had much to do with me being initially turned off by the casino as the setting for this opera. Although in later acts I was able to move past the modern set that was only because this set became less pronounced in the second and third acts. Now moving on to the aria s the three I will be focusing on will be the Aria from the Duke La Donna e Mobile, Bella figlia dell amore, and Della vendetta alfin giunge lВґistante . These two companies even contributed the term superhero. Neither company owns it, they just share it. Many of the interesting heroes/ heroines have brain powers, body powers, and some are even powerless. This class is the mind boggling brainiac s. Not because they are smart, but because they have brain powers. Brain powers include telekinesis, aqua kinesis, telepathy, and many more. The most classic and recognizable candidate for Brainiac s would be Jean Grey. Jean Grey was 10 years old when her mutant telepathic powers first manifested after experiencing the emotions of a dying friend. ( Jean Grey , 2006, para.1). Her telekinetic abilities allow her to levitate or pick up cars with her mind. She also has telepathic abilities, this allows her to read minds and put thoughts in people s brains. Jean and her amazing powers landed her a spot as one of the founding X Men. Aquaman is another suitable hero for this class. Aquaman, like his name suggests, has the power to control the water. This is called aqua kinesis. Another cool power of his is telepathy, like Jean, but with a twist. He uses his telepathy to communicate with the sea creatures, like the dolphins and the menacing sharks. • 46. Urban Poverty In Planet Of Slums By Mike Davis In the passage, Planet of Slums by Mike Davis, the author has a dystopic view on urbanization and argues that urban poverty is increasing and has a negative impact on the world. His dystopic vision can be written off as a society with undesirable traits such as poverty, oppression, and overcrowding. Davis s vision on these people s lifestyle can be compared and contrasted with Robert Neuwirth s view of this lifestyle in his passage, Shadow Cities and the film Sleep Dealer by Alex Rivera. The author Mike Davis has done countless research on the topic of urban poverty. In his studies he collects and receives his information from other sources. Perhaps this is the reason why he has a negative view on slums. This is illustrated in his piece Planet of Slums as he discusses the politics, urban development, and methods within the slums population. According to Davis, slums and urban poverty have and will continue to significantly increase. While doing so, the gap in exclusion and inequality will grow. As a result, this will weaken urban elites in their work to utilize cities as engines of growth. Slums and slum population are classified as those who are living below the poverty lines, all while, being associated with overcrowding, having poor or informal housing, inadequate access to safe water and sanitation, and insecurity of tenure. This is being recognized as an international phenomenon. To emphasis this phenomenon, approximately half of the slum population in most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The gray whale was removed from the Endangered Species List in 1994. Current population levels are robust enough that allowing the Makah Tribe to pursue their requested take of gray whales could not significantly impact the whale population. In fact, enough data exists to suggest that even if all the indigenous peoples (aborigines) on the coast of the Pacific Ocean (Russian and US) hunted to the quota limits allowed by the IWC regulations the gray whale population would still never again be endangered as they were previously when commercial whaling practices decimated them. The tribe has agreed to only hunt in offshore waters. Most commercial whale watching happens within sight of land. Since no hunting will actually occur in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, it is fair to assume there will be little of no impact on the whale watching industry. The importance of the title becomes obvious as Granny Weatherall s life flashes before her eyes. She is an 80 year old woman who is bedridden, stubborn, sick, and in denial. She has four children one of whom had passed away: Lydia, Cornelia, Jimmy, and Haps. Critics agree that there is no sign from God that her soul will be accepted into heaven. Granny Weatherall expects a sign from God, but overlooks it when it is given. Granny undeniably gets a sign from God; however, she overlooks this sign because it is Hapsy her last born daughter that had passed away. Although there are many different short term effects, the most common happens to be a hangover which is a group of symptoms experienced by a person after a heavy consumption of alcohol (Alcoholic 1). Symptoms of a hangover often consist of nausea, fatigue, thirst, headache, diarrhea, and sensitivity to light and noise. The severity of a hangoverdepends on several factors; these factors include the amount of alcoholconsumed, the level of hydration in the body at the time of alcohol consumption, and disease. Although hangovers are the most common short term effect, blackouts are also a short term result of alcohol abuse. Consuming large amounts of alcohol can lead to temporary amnesia where the person is unable to recall events that occurred after he or she began drinking. Unfortunately, blackouts can lead to serious repercussions, especially if the person is engaged in sexual activity during that time. Blackouts are much more common among social drinkers than previously assumed and should be viewed as a potential consequence of acute intoxication regardless of age (National 1). Drinkers who experience blackouts typically drink too much and too quickly, which causes their blood alcohol levels to rise very rapidly. Typically, college students are at risk for experiencing a blackout, as an alarming number of college students engage in binge drinking.
