I Am Nkem Book Report
I am Nkem. I am fourteen years old. I come from Oyo, one of four states inland near the gulf of
Guinea. Oyo is the most successful of all four kingdoms because of its thriving forests and because we
didn t have the tsetse fly or any other diseases so we were able to breed horses. We had many
farmlands with slave labor and we had many slaves which were traded to the Europeans for guns,
clothes, and metal goods. I lived with my mother, father, and my younger brother. This is the story of
how I got kidnapped, taken away from my family, was brought to Mississippi to have everything
changed completely and how I became Charlotte.
On an unbearably hot day with everything and everyone sweating, I was helping my mother with
chores around the house. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was talk about a man named Peg Leg who was helping slaves escape to freedom by following
the drinking gourd. The path to freedom was to walk up the bank of the Tombigbee river following the
dead trees. We would come to two mountains where the river stopped and continued on the other side.
We then would walk up the Tennessee river and cross the Ohio river where Peg Leg would take us the
rest of the journey to freedom. We were to leave in the winter when the days were shorter and the
nights longer to travel at night and hide during the day. We started the week, maybe month long
journey the next night sneaking away from everything that had brought us here. There were seven of
us including the women and man who were bought with me. We started along the paths Peg Leg had
directed following the drinking gourd pointing to the North star. Each night we made it a little farther
and each day was spent resting and hiding. Following the river banks and climbing over mountains.
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Soon enough we came to Peg Leg, the man
who was supposed to take us to freedom. After being taken from my home, thrown on a ship, being
bought like animals, and working for hours through rough days, it was over. I was about to be brought
to a free state where my life would start

Living in Texas vs. Louisiana
Living in Texas vs. Louisiana
Cheri Lane
Globe University
Living in Texas vs. Louisiana Texas is the second most populous and the second largest of the 50
states in the United States of America, and the largest state in the 48 contiguous United States
(Wikipedia, Texas, 2013). Louisiana is a state located in the southern region of the United States of
America and is the 31st most extensive and the 25th most populous of the 50 United States
((Wikipedia, Louisiana, 2013). Texas and Louisiana are two different areas in the United States to live
that have many diverse ways of living. Between both states, Texas is easier to live in than Louisiana
because of the differences in culture, economy, and climate. The name Texas is based on ... Show

As of April 2012, the state s unemployment rate is only at 6.5% (Wikipedia, Economy of Texas,
2013). Texas s economy has went through the recession just like any other state but has started to rise
out of the recession because of the land of oil industry that has hit its highest point since when I lasted
lived in the state. The state of Texas I think is the busiest of many states because of its high demand of
employment for the oil industry. The jobs are anywhere from secretary employment to a derrick man
on the rig itself drilling the oil out of the ground. Every position has its own way of being very
important. I miss living in this state because of how big the state is and the different areas of
employment that is available. Texas does hit rock bottom but will always find a way out to rise above
other states. Louisiana s state principal is agricultural products which include seafood, cotton,
soybeans, cattle, sugarcane, poultry and eggs, dairy products, and rice. The seafood industry is its
biggest producer of crawfish in the world, supplying approximately 90% and directly supports an
estimated 16,000 jobs. Louisiana industry generates chemical products, petroleum and coal products,
processed foods and transportation equipment, and paper products. Tourism is an important element in
the economy, especially in the New Orleans area. The total gross state product in 2010 for Louisiana

The Adventures Of Huck Finn By William Twain
Huck Finn encounters many obstacles, either physical or mental, unintentional or intentional, that test
his ability to overcome them by means of doing wrong or doing right . The concept of right can be
perceived throughout the novel as the ability to follow religion, (Christianity in this case), to be
enrolled in school, and to follow a set of morals that come with that particular time frame (1840s).
When you got to the table you couldn t go right to eating, but you had to wait for the widow to tuck
down her head and grumble a little over the victuals... (ch.1 pg.2) After supper she got out her book
and learned me about Moses and the Bulrushers, and i was in a sweat to find out all about him; . (ch.1
pg.2). These statements show how the current caretaker, the widow , is making sure that religion is a
big part of Huck s education and moral compass. She even goes on to describe heaven (the good
place) and hell (the bad place). Then she told me all about the bad place, and i said i wished i was
there . (ch.1 pg.2) Now she had got a start, and she went on and told me all about the good place .
(ch.1 pg.3). Doing wrong , as described in the story, can be seen as: smoking, showing characteristics
of being lazy , stealing, and one of the more serious acts, helping or developing a relationship that isn t
work related with a slave . Pretty soon i wanted to smoke, and asked the widow to let me. But she
wouldn t. She said it was a mean practice and wasn t clean,

Rhetorical Analysis
The art of quoting and summarizing an argument is one of the main skills to acquire when it comes to
writing a successful piece of work. In the book, They Say I Say the art of inserting quotations is
mentioned to be one of the highest mistakes made by writers. Many insert a quote that has no frame of
introduction or background information which is considered a hit and run quote. Readers need to be
able to comprehend not only the writings, but the background information and quotes from another
author writing in order to have the whole work cohesive. Dire necessity for the writer is to go back to
the initial text and truly understand the background from which they are quoting to make sure their
audience understands the quote and why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In discussions of hometown politics, the most controversial issue has been the intentions of both the
Republican and Democratic parties. On one hand the Democrats support the social and political
equality of all people. On the other hand, Republicans identify with a system where the citizens can
choose who will represent them. Thus, constant aggressive behaviors from both parties has become
entirely acceptable. Where this argument usually ends however, is now that Republican Trump is our
president how will the constant political battles come to a standstill and learn to agree to disagree.
From one local perspective, Steven Mayer writes in the Bakersfield Californian about the citizen s
protest Republican reelect Kevin McCarthy and his choice to attend a GOP fundraiser Tuesday night
in Bakersfield yet declined an invitation to participate in a town hall discussion scheduled for the
following day. According to Mary Anne Stiern McLay a retired Bakersfield Police member Kevin just
got re elected why is it so important for him to attend a party fundraiser? You think it would be more
important for him to speak to his constituents. In addition to this view others were interviewed to
voice their opinion on McCarthy and where his political choices lie. Jesse Aguilar a local teacher
spoke on the fear of local citizens and the way our country is being lead stating an attack on those
folks least able to defend themselves. And that is ominous In sum then the issue is whether Kevin s
political ties are heavily determined by president Trump, or if he is heavily influenced by local matters
that hit closer to

Indians Forced Tribe
The U.S. government used to force Indians to the reservations to live was different from how they
lived. They were forced to be in isolation to only interact and mingle amongst them. This way that the
government forced the Indians to leave was getting tiresome amongst people and they wanted change.
The people wanted allotments of land. According to Webster Dictionary allotment means an amount
of something given to someone to use or have. In this case, the government the government was
giving away land. The reason that the government was giving away land was to force the Indians to
adapt to the American culture. Some of the reasons why this occurred were because the whites wanted
the land. This new plan promised the Indians to become

Consequences Of Urbanization During The Progressive Era
Many industries like the railroad, steel, and oil industries transformed American society in the early
20th century. The railroad industries was one of the most important since thanks to it, the costs of
products decreased and the population increased because food was available in a large variety and
quantity. Along with the increase of these industry, also came the rise of urbanization. This is called
industrialized or the rize of many industries. Industrialization impacted urbanization by crating
economic growth and job opportunities that drew people into cities included european immigrants.
Although everything was not quite bright. Some of the consequences of urbanization were poor
housing conditions, sanitation problems, disease, and overcrowding. Three issues that Americans
addressed in the Progressive Era were women suffrage, public health reform, and child labor.
Reformers attempted to solve these problems by forming organizations and raising government
awareness. During the Progressive Era, American women were fighting for suffrage or the right to
vote. Women were viewed as supporters of men and had to be responsible for managing the homelife.
While middle class women lived in cities as clerks, teachers, and nurses, lower class women had to
work either on farms or in factories. Document B suggests that prohibiting women to vote is forcing
them to work under hard conditions. The smaller wage and harder conditions imposed on the women
worker are due to the lack of

High Stakes High School Case Study
Introduction
According to the case study (Appendix A), High Stakes High School (HSHS) is a low income,
underperforming urban high school in Bronx, New York. School enrollment consists of 79% Black
and 21% Latino students. Of the student body, 91% qualify for a free or reduced fee lunch, and 13%
qualify as English Language Learners (ELLs). Over the last decade, school performance has waned.
The performance has coincided with troubling school level trends, such as increased absenteeism and
suspensions, as well as gang activity and violence. Trying to align with the instability at the district
level, the school has had six different principals.
Action Plan
During the months of July and August, I established a task force team, involving all stakeholders, in
our school reform and prepared a 3 year action plan to turn around our school. As the principal of
High Stakes High School, my team and I shared the action plan report, based on the school data and
our research in education reforms, with the superintendent. Subsequently, the team shared the findings
at the first faculty conference, at the Parent Teacher Association meeting in September, and with our
students during the Welcome Back to School orientation session. The report identifies the three most
important steps to promoting a positive school culture and planning change. In alignment with

MEMORANDUM
TO: Dennis Boyle, Senior Project Leader and Studio Manager
SUBJECT: Visor product, Handspring
Executive Summary
Handspring, the client, is asking IDEO to design Visor product in approximately 10 months. The
design needs to be fully compatible and less expensive version of Palm V, development of which took
two years. Such short development time would require IDEO to compromise on its proven
development process and sacrifice the emphasis on innovation. Further more, Visor needs to be
superior to Palm V with an ability to allow adding new functionality easily. Handspring is also making
assumptions about the audience of Visor and audience s price as well as feature preferences, primarily
due to its consideration of Visor as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(refer exhibit B:TWOS analysis) Exhibit A: 4 C s Analysis
From a product management perspective, we decided to look at the 4C s: Category, Competition,
Customer, and Context.
Category: Handheld devices are clearly in aggressive growth stage. Products in this category are likely
to face some competitive pressure. However since the category itself is growing, Handspring can grab
market share without head on competition with current players. This opportunity may not be present
once the Category reaches maturity stage. Hence, it may be a bad idea to delay the product launch, for
designing an ideal product. Handspring will be better served by putting a functional product early on
than, ideal product much later.
It can be argued that handheld devices market is on the Chasm stage, as explained by Gordon Moore .
Handspring s plug in modules can be an innovative feature which can accelerate adoption of handheld
devices by masses. However, the currently proposed feature may not significant enough to be a
disruptive innovation. IDEO s time tested development process may help Handspring to develop a
truly innovative product. By reducing the product development time, Handspring will be loosing many
of the benefits bought on by IDEO.

Age Of Jackson Essay
The Age of Jackson, written by Arthur M. Schlesinger, focuses on the long lasting effects of Andrew
Jackson on democracy and American politics. The novel starts off with Jackson s life story, a
lowerclass boy from the west, raised by a single mother. After finding financial success on his own, he
became well known for his military exploits, being a crucial factor in the Battle of New Orleans, and
the acquisition of Florida from the Spanish. After the brief account of Jackson s life, the author moves
on to his administration, and stays with that topic for most of the book.
By the time Jackson came to power, the nation had been drastically changed by the Industrial
Revolution. The simple, pastoral, agricultural lifestyle was being replaced ... Show more content on

Jackson, uneducated as he was, was a very shrewd man. Using the spoils system, he all but totally
replaced the cabinet from the previous administration. By rewarding the men who had helped him
reach his current state, he made it clear that the middleclass could improve their condition. The cabinet
was no longer filled with wealthy men of status, but instead of more every day people.
Nicholas Biddle proved great opposition to President Jackson. He wanted to re charter the National
Bank; however, many people were against Biddle s decision. This was particularly true of people in
the west. They were still wary of a national bank, after the Panic of 1819, which involved mishaps in
land speculation. Jackson shared the predominately western opinion that several small banks would be
a better service to the nation than one, large bank would. A major problem with a national bank would
lie in it s willingness only to make loans to the wealthy. This would be of no use to the middleclass.
Jackson would not allow Biddle to gain any more power than he already had.
Jackson did not have the characteristics of a great president. First of all, he was notorious for being to
rash and impetuous. As a military leader, he often disobeyed direct orders (Florida campaign), and
acted on instinct rather than reason. He also had many enemies among colleagues, including John
Calhoun, John Quincy Adams,

The Key Features Of Stuttering
Key Features of Stuttering
Stuttering is a speech disorder that occurs when the fluency of speech is involuntarily interrupted
(Belyk et al., 2014). According to scientific literature, typical symptoms of stuttering include
prolongations of speech sounds, sound and syllable repetition, fast tempo, lengthy pauses, intrusion of
irrelevant sounds, the use of interjections, and physical signs of struggle (Andrade et al., 2014).
Additionally, stutterers can develop secondary behaviours including negative perceptions leading to
avoidance of certain social situations (Maguire et al., 2004). Negative emotional responses can cause
debilitating cognitive and social impacts (Andrade et al., 2014). Stuttering typically develops in
childhood and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, Watson is male and his mild condition presented itself in childhood. Despite the trend for
spontaneous recovery, Watson has yet to experience partial or complete recovery. Overall, many of the
typical symptoms of stuttering are present in Watson s case.
Aetiology
Despite the intensive efforts in the scientific community, the aetiology of stuttering remains largely
unknown. Suspected factors of influence include dopamine hyperactivity, disordered sensory
feedback, linguistic deficits, anticipation of speech difficulties, generalized motor deficits, speech
specific motor deficits, environmental factors, and genetic factors (Max et al., 2004). Currently, it is
widely agreed upon that genetic factors have a substantial role in the aetiology of stuttering. Studies in
twins have shown an increased rate of stuttering in monozygotic twins than in dizygotic twins 77%
prevalence versus 32% prevalence (Felsenfeld et al., 2000). In addition to genetic factors,
environmental factors include birth events, traumas or illnesses, stress, and peer influences (Felsenfeld
et al., 2000).
On the contrary, Michaela believes that both genetics and environment play a rather minimal role in
stuttering. Scientific literature suspects that genetics have a profound influence on stuttering.
However, a family history for Watson was conducted, and revealed a lineage absent of stuttering.
Watson has not displayed any symptoms of

Reflective Essay On Social Justice
When I first came to Antioch, I did not have any social justice or multicultural experience. I had spent
the past four years of my undergraduate career, keeping my head down, focusing on school work and
working my three jobs. Consequently, isolating myself culturally and becoming unaware both
politically and socially. To be totally honest, I didn t even know what the terms social justice meant.
Nevertheless, I kept hearing these terms throughout the Antioch interview and application process, so
I did my best to piece together what the staff meant. Thinking, ok... it s probably seeking justice for all
socially . While that, in a way, had contextual accuracy, it still did nothing for my understanding and I
felt too embarrassed to even ask for clarification.
Once I had started classes, my knowledge did begin to grow a little. I started to understand, that the
word, social, relates to the economy, opportunity, and privileges within society and the element of,
justice, is fighting for the equal rights of all humans. This concept, was still a little abstract, until last
semester when I went to Peru with my cultural diversity class. This class threw me into the deep end,
in terms of multiculturalism and what it means to be a social justice warrior. As a member of a
majority group, going to a different country that is less fortunate than your own, it opens your eyes in
terms of privilege and culture. As of now, I m coming into this class, having experienced a degree of

The Shawshank Redemption By Frank Darabont
The Shawshank Redemption directed by Frank Darabont is a 1994 American drama film set in the
Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. The film is an enthralling film about the survival of one
of its prisoners, Andy Dufresne, the protagonist convicted to life imprisonment in Shawshank prison
during 1947. Facing incarceration, Andy s character as a city banker forms a relationship with a prison
inmate Red to fight despair. Darabont uses film techniques such as camera work, soundtrack and
lighting and colour to present the main theme of hope. The theme of hope intentionally revealed is that
the hope of identity are the key to redemption as the prisoners confront institutionalism . Hope can be
conceived as an innovation to get busy living . Frank Darabont conveys the theme of hope as the key
to survival in the prison.
The protagonist, Andy Dufresne is a resourcefully calm intelligent character. Andy Dufresne is a
character sent to prison due to the murder of his wife and her lover. During the opening scenes the
directors convince the audience that the character of Andy Dufresne is as a pleasant man. This shows
that the audience expectations are defeated because the audience would not suspect a man like Andy
Dufresne to end up in jail. Andy s clam characteristics are provoked during the scene he is abused by
the sisters but as Andy is approached to be calm character he approaches the situation with intellect
over violence. He is shown to differ from other character

Education of the Black Male in America Essay
Today s education is often viewed as failing in its goal of educating students, especially those students
characterized as minorities, including African American, Hispanic, and Appalachian students (Quiroz,
1999). Among the minority groups mentioned, African American males are affected most adversely.
Research has shown that when Black male students are compared to other students by gender and race
they consistently rank lowest in academic achievement (Ogbu, 2003), have the worst attendance
record (Voelkle, 1999), are suspended and expelled the most often (Raffaele Mendez, 2003; Staples,
1982), are most likely to drop out of school, and most often fail to graduate from high school or to
earn a GED (Pinkney, 2000; Roderick, 2003). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no single overriding factor to explain this lack of success, but most scholars and researchers
point out that beginning in the colonial era and continuing through most of our nation s history, the
experiences of Black males in White society have been so negative and psychologically damaging
(Pinkney, 2000; Staples, 1982) that they have given birth to and nurtured a deep seated and tenacious
belief in their own, and the entire Black community s, inferiority. At the beginning of this history,
Black male slaves were looked upon by White society as the most undesirable and least trust worthy
of people, and they were treated accordingly. Black male slaves were closely associated with and
compared to animals, and were said to have a deceptive and violent nature and to be uncontrollable
and in need of the whip (Kunjufu, 1986). Given this formative experience in slavery, the fact that
Black males have continued to be disadvantaged from birth to death throughout our nation s short
history hardly seems to need explanation.
A Broader Problem that plagues Black males are not totally the responsibility of the public schools,
but are a responsibility of society as a whole (Delpit, 1995). We can say, however, that the public
schools do play a major role in addressing the problems of Black male students. The educational
experiences and the support services afforded Black male students could play an

Soundtrack of My Life
Soundtrack of my Life
Throughout my life I have heard many songs and many of them have remained with me in my
memories. I think the main artists I remember from my childhood are Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty
and Michael Jackson. Born in the USA from Bruce Springsteen is the main one because this was the
only song that my dad and I could agree on. His favorite song was Tom Petty s Free Fallin which at
that time I highly disliked; I have learned to like it with time now. And then for Michael Jackson, he
had many songs that I remember, but I think Bad sticks out the most to me. Everytime I think of these
songs I just think of being a child, and how I had no worries then, it seemed like such a peaceful

I really can t say that I associate any certain songs with happiness. Kind of like I said above, I like fast
paced upbeat songs, they keep me in a good mood. I don t mind slow songs, a lot of them are very
good songs, but can make me cry. Especially now that I am pregnant, some sad songs or slow songs
are just automatic tear jerkers and hey really shouldn t be. I like songs that have good messages behind
them. A lot of newer music hese days have good beats, but have very poor messages behind them. I
think this is one thing I always liked about Eminem; he always seemed to rap about things that have a
good message, instead of talking about getting wasted at the club or sleeping around. I don t think this
is the type of stuff our kids these days should be hearing about. I guess all they have to do is turn on

But I guess that is where the parents need to step in and explain right from wrong to their

The United Nations High Commission For Human Rights Essay
Introduction
The Office of the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights (OHCHR) defines Human
Rights as, rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex,
national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status. We are all equally entitled to
our human rights without discrimination. These rights are all interrelated, interdependent and
indivisible. Human rights are a set of norms or standards of behaviour that are intended to protect us in
order for us to live fully. They belong to everyone by virtue of us being human. The concept of
Human Rights gained prominence in the 17th century in Europe but its roots can be traced to ancient
times. Most cultures created their own traditions and responsibilities to protect members of those
communities and ensure a better living. Murder, rape and other violations were punished in various
ways by the different cultures. The use of human rights in politics was realized in different documents
such as the French declaration on the rights of man and citizen (1789), the English Bill of Rights
(1689) and the US constitution Bill of rights (1791) and all encompass human rights. However, these
were not universal laws but national laws. Moreover, they promoted discrimination of different groups
plus slavery.
Human rights have become universal and their history is in many struggles all over the world. Those
opposed to slavery, commonly referred to as abolitionists, ended

Young Girl Research Paper
Young girl vs Policeman A march turned into a protest in Santiago Chile on September 11th, 2016.
The march was held to commemorate victims of dictator Augusto Pinochet. The march turned violent
when members of the military special forces started arresting marchers, and the marchers fought back.
On September 11th, 1973 a violent military overthrow of socialist President Salvador Allende
happened in Chile. Leading the coup was the army general turned brutal dictator Augusto Pinochet
and the Chilean military security forces. The military coup was financially by the United States
government, whom also armed the military security forces. Pinochet, and the military security forces
spent the next 17 years committing unspeakable crimes against the Chilean citizens. Although
Pinochet stepped down in 1990, no one was held accountable for human rights violations that
occurred under Pinochet s reign. And the security forces still remain part of the Chilean military. There
remains a palpable anger and distrust towards members of the ... Show more content on

shows how one person can become the symbol the struggle facing an entire nation. The officer is
prepared for confrontation with riot gear with a helmet and visor on. Which, gives a stark visual
contrast to the unprotected girl. Though not wearing any protective clothing, the girl appears to be
more prepared for a confrontation with the officer. She has a look intense rage on her face directed
toward the officer. She is in his personal space. She appears to be unafraid of him. The photograph
also displays the restraint used by the officer. He is larger and appears to be capable of inflicting harm
upon the girl. He allows her to invade his space and stare at him intently without any harm coming to

What Is The Final Chapter Of Nickel And Dimed
The final chapter of Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich, Evaluation , states about low income
families being almost invisible to the mid to high income families. This observation is valid because
walking around places, Walmart, Kmart, etc., a person cannot distinguish what class the person is in.
Poorer families are also rarely portrayed on television or other forms of entertainment, unless the
show is about people getting arrested, since most people only find higher class, comfortable people
interesting. Also, everything in society is unequal, a person can sit at a desk and order people around
all day, without moving, and earn a salary of at least $60,000, while the individual or individuals who
get stuck with all of his work, are getting paid around $25,000 a year. Yes, everyone starts out at a low
on the totem pole job at a company and they work their way up the food chain to get to the job they
want, but the lower class gets deemed lazy and or a high school dropout if they are seen waiting tables
or working at a fast food place or retail store past the age of 25 30. Just because they are working
twice as hard as the executives and other people higher up in society, and get paid twice to three times
less than them, does not mean they lack normal human emotions. ... Show more content on

Walking around stores such as Walmart, people watching is a very common activity. Everyone has
participated in the activity at least once before, even subconsciously. Walmart is the type of store

Government In The Film V For Vendetta
In the film V for Vendetta directed by James McTeigue it is evident that People shouldn t be afraid of
their government. Governments should be afraid of their people. This is seen through several
characters in the film. In the first place, the government is made up of people, most of them elected by
the citizens of the country. As an illustration, midway through V for Vendetta, the character V
surmises that Sutler s career began as a deeply religious man and a member of the conservative party.
He s completely single minded and has no regard for political process. The more power he obtains the
more obvious his zealotry, and the more aggressive his supporters become. This shows as the number
of his supporter increased and became more aggressive,

Courtroom Observation for law Students
This paper contains an observation from a competition that was held by Liberty University. In the
courtroom Observation four law students argue the case of White vs. O Malley s Tavern. The original
case (case number 82A04 8876 CB285) has gone before the United States District Court in Northern
Indiana. In the case Mrs. White is asking that O Malley s Tavern be held liable for her husband s
death, while O Malley s Tavern is stating that they should not be held liable for the incident. This
paper will discuss the argument for both sides, if summary judgment should be allowed, and how
courts are viewed in the Christian Worldview. In the case of White vs. O Malley s Tavern (case

court shall grant summary judgment if the movant shows that there is no genuine dispute as to any
material fact and the movant is entitled to judgment as a matter of law (Cornell University of Law,

had even seen the second issue when he fell when trying to confront Mrs. White as she was leaving. I

continued giving him drinks then there would have been a problem. However, it seems that Mr. Hart

Propaganda In Nazi Germany
During the Holocaust, various forms of propaganda were infused into everyday aspects of life for the
German citizens. The Nazi Party used many of these forms to target the many differing citizens of
Germany to believe in the Nazi ideology. These forms of propaganda included books, films,
newspapers, rallies, radio broadcastings, etc. All of these forms of propaganda were either created or
altered by the Nazi Party for the sole purpose of manipulating the ordinary German citizens into
hating their Jewish friends, neighbors, and colleagues. Almost every aspect of life was placed under
the control and influence of the Nazi Party in Germany for all of its citizens. Instead of having normal

Films were made to spread the Nazi ideology across Germany to manipulate the citizens as did
newspapers. In Germany, the cartoons in the newspapers portrayed the Jewish people with antisemitic
caricatures. Rallies held by the Nazi Party in the Zeppelinfeld were propaganda events used to arouse
enthusiasm and show off the power of National Socialism. All of these forms of propaganda worked
together to manipulate an entire nation into supporting acts of genocide. The Nazis were not the only
people committing acts of genocide against the Jewish people. Ordinary German citizens were
manipulated into supporting the crimes committed against the Jewish people with propaganda. These

Cultural Revolution Mao
A revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall
Evaluate the accuracy of this statement in relation to the causes of the Chinese cultural revolution
A revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall. This statement by Che
Guevara suggests that in order for a revolution to occur, the leaders must not hesitate, but rather, they
should take immediate and effective actions. This quote is particularly accurate for the Chinese
Cultural Revolution, because the main leader of the Revolution Mao Zedong was able to manipulate
the public, thus enabling him to bring about a revolution. The Cultural Revolution occurred as a result
of the failures in the Great Leap Forward, and officially, Mao claimed that the goal of the Chinese
Cultural Revolution is to build a society surrounding the proletariats by bringing back revolutionary
spirit. However, it became increasingly clear that Mao s real intentions were rather personal, as he
used the Cultural Revolution to re establish his power as the Chairman of the Communist Party of
China.
The Cultural Revolution was Mao s response to the disasters of the Great Leap Forward, during which
at least 30 million Chinese people starved to death in the span of 5 years (Ben Walsh). In 1959, Mao
admitted that I also have an indirect share of the blame... I don t want other people to shirk their
responsibility. (Phillip Short). This suggests that even though Mao was aware that his

Some of the methods used to analyze the results of the PREDIMED trial includes Cox proportional
hazard modeling to compute hazard ratios for each Mediterranean diet and the control group

0.91) for both Mediterranean with EVOO and 0.70 (95% CI:0.53 0.94) for the Mediterranean diet with
mixed nuts, where a ratio that is 1 is interpreted an unlikely rate that the primary endpoint will occur.3
The hazard ratios for the primary endpoints were also adjusted for continuous variables (gender, age,

The media article also seems to be misleading because it states that the diet helped those at risk for
heart disease even if they could not lose weight. To a person who has not read the PREDIMED trial or
does not have a good background in biology, this can be easily misinterpreted that it is okay to be
overweight. In fact, research shows that obesity is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases.2,7
Therefore, people who are at risk of developing cardiovascular disease should also give importance to
a good diet as well as a healthy lifestyle and weight management. Other risk factors should also be
eliminated in order to successfully improve cardiovascular health. The media article also mentions the
primary endpoints that were used in the trial. Kolata states that the researchers in the PREDIMED trial
did not look at risk factors such as cholesterol, hypertension, and weight.6 Even though the
researchers did not measure these risk factors at the primary endpoint, they did fill out a baseline
questionnaire prior to participant enrollment relating to these risk factors. The hazard ratios were also
adjusted for these risk factors twice.3 The media article also puts an emphasis on what should be

Chain Store Case Study
Four elements must exist to prove there is a valid contract between the chain store and Sam Stevens.
These four elements include the agreement, consideration, contractual capacity and legal object. The
first element of the agreement would be deemed to exist if one person makes an offer and the other
party accepts that offer. In this case, Sam did verbally agreed to send the 1,000 units to the chain store;
that element does count toward a contract. The second element of the consideration would be deemed
to exist if each party gets something in exchange for their promise under a contract. If Sam and the
chain store agreed to what he would get in return for his 1,000 units, this element would be valid.
However, this was not mentioned by either side, so the contract would not be valid. ... Show more

void the contract, not the adult who entered into the contract. When a minor shows intent to rescind a
contract by either words or action, the whole contract is voided. If a person is emancipated, they have
legal control of themselves and can enter into a contract. In this case, Sam is of age to sign a contract
agreement with the store; this is a valid element. The fourth element of the legal object will be deemed

Synchronous Machine For A Motor And A Generator
Synchronous Machines Louis Meyer EE 3501 Section 3B November 7, 2014 Table of Contents
Abstract This report contains details from three lab experiments performed using a synchronous
machine for both a motor and a generator. The fundamental principle of a synchronous machine is that
the electrical frequency is related to the mechanical frequency. The first lab performed consisted of
doing two different tests, the open circuit and short circuit tests, respectively. By performing these two
basic tests, it can be determined the armature voltage and current changes drastically with each test.
The second lab performed required to use the synchronous machine as a generator. When acting like a
generator, it becomes necessary to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two primary synchronous machines, the synchronous generator and the synchronous motor.
Both machines are very useful depending on the application necessary for their use. Depending on the
external conditions, it is required to have an understanding of how the synchronous machine should be
modeled for each use. The synchronous machine is commonly found in industrial settings, clocks, and
power plants. The common factor between these fields is the requirement of running at a constant
speed. The synchronous generators used in power plants are common because it is economically
efficient to keep the generator running at a constant frequency. Depending on the application, the
synchronous machines can be modeled proportionally between the mechanical frequency based on the
number of poles and the frequency of current (see theory). Consequentially, the electrical radian
frequency is determined be the electrical frequency. Modeling a synchronous machine is a simple task,
provided the necessary parameters are known. For this lab the model of the synchronous machine was
already considered. The synchronous machine being used had a rating of 208 V (line to line rms), 60
Hz, and 200 W. It is a 4 pole machine with a synchronous speed of 1800 RPM. The open circuit and
short circuit tests performed in this lab can

How Did Benjamin Rush Influence The American Revolution
Benjamin Rush was an enthusiastic patriot who played an active role in facilitating the American
Revolution. Although all of the colonists originally started off loyal to King George III, there were
several reasons that influenced Rush to turn against his mother country. Benjamin Rush was a strong

opposition to slavery and his friendships with other patriots such as Benjamin Franklin.

Law Enforcers Should Wear Body Cameras Essay
Criminal Justice Military Studies
Outline
Thesis: In the wake of the recent police brutality, the law enforcers should be encouraged to wear
body cameras.

Argument for making use of body cameras:
Record and keep track of the evidence at the scene of the crime.
A judge will be provided with the chance for them to see and hear exactly what took place at an
incident, which is very different from reading reports that have been written down by the officers.
The lowered litigation costs that arise from the expedited lawsuits.
The frivolous and the justified complaints against the police are bound to cost vast amounts of money

To instill trust in the public
The cameras will have the ability to reduce the complaints on the officers that make use of
unnecessary force or poor behavior from the residence or the officer.

Relationship Driven
B2B vs. B2C Marketing
Business to business (B2B) is a term used to describe transactions of goods or services between
businesses as opposed to business to consumer (B2C) which describes activities of commercial
organizations serving end customers with products and/or services. B2B and B2C marketing is
different. There are profound differences that a business must remember when developing marketing
activities.
Although the marketing programs are the same for each type of business (events, direct marketing,
internet marketing, advertising, public relations, word of mouth, and alliances), how they are
executed, what they say, and the outcome of the marketing activities differ (Murphy, 2007). The
following table summarizes some of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a B2B company can provide a quality product or service, even if the price is higher than the
competition a customer will be willing to pay, provided there is a perceived value in what is being
sold. That value can be in the form of customer service, engineering design assistance, on time
delivery, and quality.
In conclusion, marketing for B2B and B2C markets are quite different. While marketing programs are
the same, how they are executed, what they say, and the outcome of the marketing activities differ.
B2B marketing is relationship driven while B2C marketing is more product driven. The market size
also varies between B2B and B2C markets. B2B markets are measured in the thousands while B2C
markets are measured in the millions. Not only is the market different in B2B and B2C but so is the
buyer. The business buyer understands the products or services and needs to buy the products or
services to help the company to stay profitable, competitive, and successful. Therefore, B2B
marketing must be more complex. Consumer buyers are looking for the best price and trust within the
company and products. Therefore, B2C marketing needs to convince customer of their trust and
loyalty. Brand building is also important in both B2B and B2C marketing but for different reasons. In
B2B markets brand will only help a business be considered, not necessarily chosen. In B2C

The Aspect Of Faux Furs In The Fashion Industry
The Aspect of Faux Furs in the Fashion Industry
Faux (f oh) Made in imitation; Fake
Faux furs in the fashion industry is the only moral substitute against real furs. Furs in the fashion
industry, is it moral? This has been an alarming question for quite some time. In response, the creation
of Faux furs has taken the industry by storm. For years, the bearing of fur in fashion was associated
with wealth, luxury, and glamour. With this perception of status, comes the perception of faux furs.
Associated with cheap, knock offs of furs; identified as a cheap imitation for the mass markets. (Trew,

Faux furs have taken primary standpoint for use of fashion, and are a predominant political statement
in the industry. Designers are using faux fur in a proud statement against the fur industry. Faux furs
are being used as political protest statements, and have evolved into a creature of their own from a life
of being a tacky counterfeit. While faux fur has very recently created a strong positive presence in
fashion, it s debate has been dated back to the 19th century. PETA s campaign of naked celebrities

Descriptive Essay On Florentine
New cookbook crush! Florentine: The True Cuisine of Florence by Emiko Davies
Beautiful pages brimming with life and history that weave around traditional recipes filled with the
aromas of Florence. A true cover to cover read, exactly the kind of cookbook that I eat up! The
marbleized cover that spills onto the pages is simply lovely and gives me a wistful affection for both
my second grade art class and the marble that graces the layers of Florence s architecture.
I remember my first brush with Florence, that precise moment when I planted my foot down and a
sudden awareness of belonging or mores so, a sensation of never wanting to leave in case I were to
miss something rushed over me. There was a sense of excitement, and familiarity, story s told and
untold. I stood in this fascinating place and felt the warmth of its embrace soak into me, as history and
charm dripped from its depths. I felt it was the kind of place where coziness met with grandeur and
solitude with chaos. I could feel my creativity flow as I felt captivated by it s loveliness, tantalized by
the aromas of leather, incense, rising dough and those yet to be discovered.
The galleries and great halls of the Uffizi brimming with exceptional works of the Renaissance, the
chiseled physique of Michelangelo s David, a kiss on the Il Porcellino s snout to ensure my return to ...

Perhaps, this is why I find this cookbook, so special, it gives me something old and something new,
much like the city of Florence itself. It inspires a sense of nostalgia, a yearning to go back. Needless to
say, this is a cookbook that I m sure I will go back to again and again. I m looking forward to cooking:
Frittata di Finocchio, Pappardelle all Anatra, Coniglio con le Olive, and a daring take at Sfogliatine! I
d also love a taste of Crostini con Lardo, Miele and Pepe, but true lardo is difficult to get your hands
on, I suppose I ll have to wait until I meet Florence

The Role Of Internal And External Influences On Students...
While selecting the sample for the interviews, there were two major sets of decisions that had to be
made at the outset: (1) deciding on who to interview, and (2) what questions to ask. In regards to
selecting the sample, since this question was set out in order to see the connection of internal and
external influences in students making decisions in university, it only seemed appropriate that the
interview sample consisted of university students. As such, university students were considered the
units of analysis for this study. Five students were selected using the purposive sampling technique
known as criterion sampling. Criterion sampling was used because in order to be eligible for the
interview, the participants had to meet the certain criteria of: having to be either a university student,
or a former university student (within three years of graduation), and had to have been enrolled in
university for at least three terms. These requirements were set in order to establish an optimal
sampling frame for the interviews. Using a non probabilistic sampling technique allows the researcher
to make subjective judgements that would aid in their endeavors in proving their hypothesis. Rather
than using random selection found in probabilistic sampling, non probabilistic sampling allows for the
research objectives to be best fulfilled by a strategically chosen sample (Palys Atchison, 2014, p. 424).
Keeping the requirements in mind, the participants in the sample were chosen

The Role Of Memory In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath
Wendy seems to bare the brunt of Peter s memory loss in the novel. It is almost a surprise that Peter
has not forgotten her sooner, and in the beginning of the adventure it appears that he almost did. He
constantly abandons them for adventure during their flights to Neverland and he often forgets who
they are when he returns. Wendy comments, And if he forgets them so quickly...how can we expect
that he will go on remembering us . Peter has a hard time remember people and events, but does not
seem to have a problem with navigating in and around the island. He flies Wendy and her brothers to
the island, and later directs them back to their house. Navigation is a type of memory that Peter has
retained, and he also does well remembering his most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He questions, who is Captain Hook? and I forget them after I kill them . Despite the obvious concern
with a child killing another human, what is even more concerning is that Peter kills and then forgets
about it. A Freudian psychologist might suggest that he is subconsciously blocking out the memory,
but times are past that era, instead it might just be that Peter cannot retain memory because he has no
room to grow. Peter never ages, and his playful face is the same throughout generations. While Peter is
blessed with never having to grow up, and therefore never having any real form of responsibility, he is
cursed with the inability to remember. Memories grow with the individual, it takes place within time
regardless of the duration and is encoded into the brain likewise. The timeline in Neverland is unclear
because years or seconds may pass relative to the real world, but even if the time ratio was one to one,
there is without doubt that Peter s internal clock has stopped ticking. His past therefore can be
considered infinite because no one knows if he is twenty years old or two thousand. Infinite memory
is incomprehensible, as previously stated, as other characters grow up in Peter Pan their childhood
becomes merely snapshots. Peter may not have the ability to retain memory because he can only live
in the present. For him to have memory of the past would suggest that he

Stage 1, internally neutral which is the very poorest level of contribution by the operations function, In
a Stage 1 organization the operation is considered as a necessary evil . The other functions, if they
have anything to say at all about operations, regard it as holding them back from competing
effectively. The operations function, they would say, is inward looking and at best reactive. It certainly
has very little positive to contribute towards competitive success. It is unlikely even to have developed
its resources so as to be appropriate for the company s competitive position. The best that the function
can hope for is to be ignored. At least when operations are being ignored it is not holding the company
back in any way. Certainly the rest of the organization would not look to operations as the source of
any originality, flair or competitive drive. In effect the operations function is aspiring only to reach the
minimum acceptable standards implied by the rest of the organization. It is trying to be internally
neutral , a position it attempts to achieve not by anything positive but by avoiding the bigger mistakes.
Certainly even when good organizations are let down by their operations function the resulting
publicity can be damaging.

Determining the Energy Requirements of an Individual
The determination of patients energy needs is important in the clinical practice since the balance
between energy intake and expenditure has important implications to the patient s health, as well as
underfeeding and overfeeding. However, identifying the patients energy expenditure and designing
adequate nutritional support for them can be a task, and measurements and estimative calculations are
currently used in the clinical setting for this purpose1,2. Determining the energy requirements of an
individual may be difficult since many factors are involved such as age, gender, body composition,
physical activity, nutritional status, illness and the goals of the nutritional treatment. As there are no
methods which could involve all these factors, dietitians have to be careful and carry a clinical
judgement when determining these requirements³.
Energy expenditure is characterized by the number of kcal used by the human body per day. In healthy
individuals, energy expenditure can be divided into basal metabolic rate (BMR), thermic effect of food
and physical activity. In not so physically active individuals or hospitalized individuals, the BMR is by
far the largest component of total daily energy expenditure, accounting for around 60 75% of total
expenditure1,2,3,4. It s the energy required to maintain the organism functions, temperature and
survival and, in healthy individuals, it can vary according to differences in body composition (fat free
mass proportion), weight,

My Summer Vacation
My Summer in Chicago
I couldn t help but to feel anxious and excited. It was my first time being in such a vast city and I
couldn t wait to explore it. The time was near the end of July, this is when my dad usually enjoys
taking our summer vacations, primarily outside of our state to somewhere else new and exciting. That
summer my dad decided to take a week long road trip and visit, Wisconsin Dells, Chicago, St. Louis,
and Madison. My dad said he wanted to show my sisters and I all the adventures he did in Chicago
when he was my age. I had felt joyful about the trip, I could not wait to see all the buildings and walk
down the Navy Pier. To tell the truth, I was more excited to visit Chicago a little more since it was
such an extensive city and I had wanted to visit there ever since I was younger.
A few days before the trip, my dad, my sister Nina, and I, had done some research and added up the
cost of the trip and looked for hotels and restaurants to visit during the time we were there and on our
road trip. After about an hour of research on Chicago, we had our plan of what to do for our time in
Chicago. That night, It was difficult to fall asleep, although I wasn t surprised I usually didn t fall
asleep right away before a vacation, I m usually too excited.
Morning soon came and my dad, my younger sister Niomi, my sister Nina, and I were all ready to
leave and finally begin the drive to Chicago. Not to mention, it would be about six hours to arrive
there. Finally, after

Oyo is the most successful of all four kingdoms because of its thriving forests and because we didn t have the tsetse fly or any other diseases so we were able to breed horses. We had many farmlands with slave labor and we had many slaves which were traded to the Europeans for guns, clothes, and metal goods. I lived with my mother, father, and my younger brother. This is the story of how I got kidnapped, taken away from my family, was brought to Mississippi to have everything changed completely and how I became Charlotte. There was talk about a man named Peg Leg who was helping slaves escape to freedom by following the drinking gourd. The path to freedom was to walk up the bank of the Tombigbee river following the dead trees. We would come to two mountains where the river stopped and continued on the other side. We then would walk up the Tennessee river and cross the Ohio river where Peg Leg would take us the rest of the journey to freedom. We were to leave in the winter when the days were shorter and the nights longer to travel at night and hide during the day. We started the week, maybe month long journey the next night sneaking away from everything that had brought us here. There were seven of us including the women and man who were bought with me. We started along the paths Peg Leg had directed following the drinking gourd pointing to the North star. Each night we made it a little farther and each day was spent resting and hiding. Following the river banks and climbing over mountains. Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Soon enough we came to Peg Leg, the man who was supposed to take us to freedom. • 4. The Adventures Of Huck Finn By William Twain Huck Finn encounters many obstacles, either physical or mental, unintentional or intentional, that test his ability to overcome them by means of doing wrong or doing right . The concept of right can be perceived throughout the novel as the ability to follow religion, (Christianity in this case), to be enrolled in school, and to follow a set of morals that come with that particular time frame (1840s). When you got to the table you couldn t go right to eating, but you had to wait for the widow to tuck down her head and grumble a little over the victuals... (ch.1 pg.2) After supper she got out her book and learned me about Moses and the Bulrushers, and i was in a sweat to find out all about him; . (ch.1 pg.2). These statements show how the current caretaker, the widow , is making sure that religion is a big part of Huck s education and moral compass. She even goes on to describe heaven (the good place) and hell (the bad place). Then she told me all about the bad place, and i said i wished i was there . (ch.1 pg.2) Now she had got a start, and she went on and told me all about the good place . (ch.1 pg.3). The railroad industries was one of the most important since thanks to it, the costs of products decreased and the population increased because food was available in a large variety and quantity. Along with the increase of these industry, also came the rise of urbanization. This is called industrialized or the rize of many industries. Industrialization impacted urbanization by crating economic growth and job opportunities that drew people into cities included european immigrants. Although everything was not quite bright. Some of the consequences of urbanization were poor housing conditions, sanitation problems, disease, and overcrowding. Three issues that Americans addressed in the Progressive Era were women suffrage, public health reform, and child labor. Reformers attempted to solve these problems by forming organizations and raising government awareness. During the Progressive Era, American women were fighting for suffrage or the right to vote. Women were viewed as supporters of men and had to be responsible for managing the homelife. While middle class women lived in cities as clerks, teachers, and nurses, lower class women had to work either on farms or in factories. However since the category itself is growing, Handspring can grab market share without head on competition with current players. The novel starts off with Jackson s life story, a lowerclass boy from the west, raised by a single mother. After finding financial success on his own, he became well known for his military exploits, being a crucial factor in the Battle of New Orleans, and the acquisition of Florida from the Spanish. After the brief account of Jackson s life, the author moves on to his administration, and stays with that topic for most of the book. By rewarding the men who had helped him reach his current state, he made it clear that the middleclass could improve their condition. The cabinet was no longer filled with wealthy men of status, but instead of more every day people. Nicholas Biddle proved great opposition to President Jackson. He wanted to re charter the National Bank; however, many people were against Biddle s decision. This was particularly true of people in the west. They were still wary of a national bank, after the Panic of 1819, which involved mishaps in land speculation. Jackson shared the predominately western opinion that several small banks would be a better service to the nation than one, large bank would. A major problem with a national bank would lie in it s willingness only to make loans to the wealthy. This would be of no use to the middleclass. Jackson would not allow Biddle to gain any more power than he already had. Jackson did not have the characteristics of a great president. First of all, he was notorious for being to rash and impetuous. As a military leader, he often disobeyed direct orders (Florida campaign), and acted on instinct rather than reason. He also had many enemies among colleagues, including John Calhoun, John Quincy Adams, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Suspected factors of influence include dopamine hyperactivity, disordered sensory feedback, linguistic deficits, anticipation of speech difficulties, generalized motor deficits, speech specific motor deficits, environmental factors, and genetic factors (Max et al., 2004). Currently, it is widely agreed upon that genetic factors have a substantial role in the aetiology of stuttering. Studies in twins have shown an increased rate of stuttering in monozygotic twins than in dizygotic twins 77% prevalence versus 32% prevalence (Felsenfeld et al., 2000). In addition to genetic factors, environmental factors include birth events, traumas or illnesses, stress, and peer influences (Felsenfeld et al., 2000). Education of the Black Male in America Essay Today s education is often viewed as failing in its goal of educating students, especially those students characterized as minorities, including African American, Hispanic, and Appalachian students (Quiroz, 1999). Among the minority groups mentioned, African American males are affected most adversely. Research has shown that when Black male students are compared to other students by gender and race they consistently rank lowest in academic achievement (Ogbu, 2003), have the worst attendance record (Voelkle, 1999), are suspended and expelled the most often (Raffaele Mendez, 2003; Staples, 1982), are most likely to drop out of school, and most often fail to graduate from high school or to earn a GED (Pinkney, 2000; Roderick, 2003). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no single overriding factor to explain this lack of success, but most scholars and researchers point out that beginning in the colonial era and continuing through most of our nation s history, the experiences of Black males in White society have been so negative and psychologically damaging (Pinkney, 2000; Staples, 1982) that they have given birth to and nurtured a deep seated and tenacious belief in their own, and the entire Black community s, inferiority. At the beginning of this history, Black male slaves were looked upon by White society as the most undesirable and least trust worthy of people, and they were treated accordingly. Black male slaves were closely associated with and compared to animals, and were said to have a deceptive and violent nature and to be uncontrollable and in need of the whip (Kunjufu, 1986). Given this formative experience in slavery, the fact that Black males have continued to be disadvantaged from birth to death throughout our nation s short history hardly seems to need explanation. A Broader Problem that plagues Black males are not totally the responsibility of the public schools, but are a responsibility of society as a whole (Delpit, 1995). The United Nations High Commission For Human Rights Essay Introduction The Office of the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights (OHCHR) defines Human Rights as, rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status. We are all equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination. These rights are all interrelated, interdependent and indivisible. Human rights are a set of norms or standards of behaviour that are intended to protect us in order for us to live fully. They belong to everyone by virtue of us being human. The concept of Human Rights gained prominence in the 17th century in Europe but its roots can be traced to ancient times. Most cultures created their own traditions and responsibilities to protect members of those communities and ensure a better living. Murder, rape and other violations were punished in various ways by the different cultures. The use of human rights in politics was realized in different documents such as the French declaration on the rights of man and citizen (1789), the English Bill of Rights (1689) and the US constitution Bill of rights (1791) and all encompass human rights. However, these were not universal laws but national laws. Moreover, they promoted discrimination of different groups plus slavery. • 23. What Is The Final Chapter Of Nickel And Dimed The final chapter of Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich, Evaluation , states about low income families being almost invisible to the mid to high income families. This observation is valid because walking around places, Walmart, Kmart, etc., a person cannot distinguish what class the person is in. Poorer families are also rarely portrayed on television or other forms of entertainment, unless the show is about people getting arrested, since most people only find higher class, comfortable people interesting. Also, everything in society is unequal, a person can sit at a desk and order people around all day, without moving, and earn a salary of at least $60,000, while the individual or individuals who get stuck with all of his work, are getting paid around $25,000 a year. Yes, everyone starts out at a low on the totem pole job at a company and they work their way up the food chain to get to the job they want, but the lower class gets deemed lazy and or a high school dropout if they are seen waiting tables or working at a fast food place or retail store past the age of 25 30. Just because they are working twice as hard as the executives and other people higher up in society, and get paid twice to three times less than them, does not mean they lack normal human emotions. ... You have to make it fall Evaluate the accuracy of this statement in relation to the causes of the Chinese cultural revolution A revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall. This statement by Che Guevara suggests that in order for a revolution to occur, the leaders must not hesitate, but rather, they should take immediate and effective actions. This quote is particularly accurate for the Chinese Cultural Revolution, because the main leader of the Revolution Mao Zedong was able to manipulate the public, thus enabling him to bring about a revolution. The Cultural Revolution occurred as a result of the failures in the Great Leap Forward, and officially, Mao claimed that the goal of the Chinese Cultural Revolution is to build a society surrounding the proletariats by bringing back revolutionary spirit. However, it became increasingly clear that Mao s real intentions were rather personal, as he used the Cultural Revolution to re establish his power as the Chairman of the Communist Party of China. The Cultural Revolution was Mao s response to the disasters of the Great Leap Forward, during which at least 30 million Chinese people starved to death in the span of 5 years (Ben Walsh). The fundamental principle of a synchronous machine is that the electrical frequency is related to the mechanical frequency. The first lab performed consisted of doing two different tests, the open circuit and short circuit tests, respectively. By performing these two basic tests, it can be determined the armature voltage and current changes drastically with each test. There are two primary synchronous machines, the synchronous generator and the synchronous motor. Both machines are very useful depending on the application necessary for their use. Depending on the external conditions, it is required to have an understanding of how the synchronous machine should be modeled for each use. The synchronous machine is commonly found in industrial settings, clocks, and power plants. The common factor between these fields is the requirement of running at a constant speed. The synchronous generators used in power plants are common because it is economically efficient to keep the generator running at a constant frequency. Depending on the application, the synchronous machines can be modeled proportionally between the mechanical frequency based on the number of poles and the frequency of current (see theory). Consequentially, the electrical radian frequency is determined be the electrical frequency. Modeling a synchronous machine is a simple task, provided the necessary parameters are known. For this lab the model of the synchronous machine was already considered. The synchronous machine being used had a rating of 208 V (line to line rms), 60 Hz, and 200 W. I remember my first brush with Florence, that precise moment when I planted my foot down and a sudden awareness of belonging or mores so, a sensation of never wanting to leave in case I were to miss something rushed over me. There was a sense of excitement, and familiarity, story s told and untold. I stood in this fascinating place and felt the warmth of its embrace soak into me, as history and charm dripped from its depths. I felt it was the kind of place where coziness met with grandeur and solitude with chaos. I could feel my creativity flow as I felt captivated by it s loveliness, tantalized by the aromas of leather, incense, rising dough and those yet to be discovered. The galleries and great halls of the Uffizi brimming with exceptional works of the Renaissance, the chiseled physique of Michelangelo s David, a kiss on the Il Porcellino s snout to ensure my return to ... It inspires a sense of nostalgia, a yearning to go back. Needless to say, this is a cookbook that I m sure I will go back to again and again. I m looking forward to cooking: Frittata di Finocchio, Pappardelle all Anatra, Coniglio con le Olive, and a daring take at Sfogliatine! I d also love a taste of Crostini con Lardo, Miele and Pepe, but true lardo is difficult to get your hands on, I suppose I ll have to wait until I meet Florence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Role Of Internal And External Influences On Students... While selecting the sample for the interviews, there were two major sets of decisions that had to be made at the outset: (1) deciding on who to interview, and (2) what questions to ask. In regards to selecting the sample, since this question was set out in order to see the connection of internal and external influences in students making decisions in university, it only seemed appropriate that the interview sample consisted of university students. As such, university students were considered the units of analysis for this study. Five students were selected using the purposive sampling technique known as criterion sampling. Criterion sampling was used because in order to be eligible for the interview, the participants had to meet the certain criteria of: having to be either a university student, or a former university student (within three years of graduation), and had to have been enrolled in university for at least three terms. These requirements were set in order to establish an optimal sampling frame for the interviews. Using a non probabilistic sampling technique allows the researcher to make subjective judgements that would aid in their endeavors in proving their hypothesis. Rather than using random selection found in probabilistic sampling, non probabilistic sampling allows for the research objectives to be best fulfilled by a strategically chosen sample (Palys Atchison, 2014, p. 424). Keeping the requirements in mind, the participants in the sample were chosen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Role Of Memory In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath Wendy seems to bare the brunt of Peter s memory loss in the novel. It is almost a surprise that Peter has not forgotten her sooner, and in the beginning of the adventure it appears that he almost did. He constantly abandons them for adventure during their flights to Neverland and he often forgets who they are when he returns. Wendy comments, And if he forgets them so quickly...how can we expect that he will go on remembering us . Peter has a hard time remember people and events, but does not seem to have a problem with navigating in and around the island. He flies Wendy and her brothers to the island, and later directs them back to their house. Navigation is a type of memory that Peter has retained, and he also does well remembering his most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He questions, who is Captain Hook? and I forget them after I kill them . Despite the obvious concern with a child killing another human, what is even more concerning is that Peter kills and then forgets about it. A Freudian psychologist might suggest that he is subconsciously blocking out the memory, but times are past that era, instead it might just be that Peter cannot retain memory because he has no room to grow. Peter never ages, and his playful face is the same throughout generations. While Peter is blessed with never having to grow up, and therefore never having any real form of responsibility, he is cursed with the inability to remember. Memories grow with the individual, it takes place within time regardless of the duration and is encoded into the brain likewise. The timeline in Neverland is unclear because years or seconds may pass relative to the real world, but even if the time ratio was one to one, there is without doubt that Peter s internal clock has stopped ticking. His past therefore can be considered infinite because no one knows if he is twenty years old or two thousand. Infinite memory is incomprehensible, as previously stated, as other characters grow up in Peter Pan their childhood becomes merely snapshots. Peter may not have the ability to retain memory because he can only live in the present. For him to have memory of the past would suggest that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(20 marks) Stage 1, internally neutral which is the very poorest level of contribution by the operations function, In a Stage 1 organization the operation is considered as a necessary evil . The other functions, if they have anything to say at all about operations, regard it as holding them back from competing effectively. The operations function, they would say, is inward looking and at best reactive. It certainly has very little positive to contribute towards competitive success. It is unlikely even to have developed its resources so as to be appropriate for the company s competitive position. The best that the function can hope for is to be ignored. At least when operations are being ignored it is not holding the company back in any way. Certainly the rest of the organization would not look to operations as the source of any originality, flair or competitive drive. In effect the operations function is aspiring only to reach the minimum acceptable standards implied by the rest of the organization. It is trying to be internally neutral , a position it attempts to achieve not by anything positive but by avoiding the bigger mistakes. Certainly even when good organizations are let down by their operations function the resulting publicity can be damaging. Stage 2, externally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Determining the Energy Requirements of an Individual The determination of patients energy needs is important in the clinical practice since the balance between energy intake and expenditure has important implications to the patient s health, as well as underfeeding and overfeeding. However, identifying the patients energy expenditure and designing adequate nutritional support for them can be a task, and measurements and estimative calculations are currently used in the clinical setting for this purpose1,2. Determining the energy requirements of an individual may be difficult since many factors are involved such as age, gender, body composition, physical activity, nutritional status, illness and the goals of the nutritional treatment. As there are no methods which could involve all these factors, dietitians have to be careful and carry a clinical judgement when determining these requirements³. Energy expenditure is characterized by the number of kcal used by the human body per day. In healthy individuals, energy expenditure can be divided into basal metabolic rate (BMR), thermic effect of food and physical activity. In not so physically active individuals or hospitalized individuals, the BMR is by far the largest component of total daily energy expenditure, accounting for around 60 75% of total expenditure1,2,3,4. It s the energy required to maintain the organism functions, temperature and survival and, in healthy individuals, it can vary according to differences in body composition (fat free mass proportion), weight, ... • 48. My Summer Vacation My Summer in Chicago I couldn t help but to feel anxious and excited. It was my first time being in such a vast city and I couldn t wait to explore it. The time was near the end of July, this is when my dad usually enjoys taking our summer vacations, primarily outside of our state to somewhere else new and exciting. That summer my dad decided to take a week long road trip and visit, Wisconsin Dells, Chicago, St. Louis, and Madison. My dad said he wanted to show my sisters and I all the adventures he did in Chicago when he was my age. I had felt joyful about the trip, I could not wait to see all the buildings and walk down the Navy Pier. To tell the truth, I was more excited to visit Chicago a little more since it was such an extensive city and I had wanted to visit there ever since I was younger. A few days before the trip, my dad, my sister Nina, and I, had done some research and added up the cost of the trip and looked for hotels and restaurants to visit during the time we were there and on our road trip. After about an hour of research on Chicago, we had our plan of what to do for our time in Chicago. That night, It was difficult to fall asleep, although I wasn t surprised I usually didn t fall asleep right away before a vacation, I m usually too excited. Morning soon came and my dad, my younger sister Niomi, my sister Nina, and I were all ready to leave and finally begin the drive to Chicago. Not to mention, it would be about six hours to arrive there. Finally, after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
