2.1.1 Political factors
Verdict amp; SAS (2013) states that global food prices look set to continue to rise in the next year.
Increases in grain prices are having a knock on effect on wheat, meat and dairy, while rising fuel
prices will continue to exert an upward pressure on supply chain and logistics costs.
2.1.2 Economic factors
Due to the recession the discounter grocers are booming. Lidl s market share has gone up to 2.6 %
according to the data from Kantar Worldpanel. (Kantar Worldpanel, 2012).
2.1.3 Social/Cultural factors
Due to the ageing population, the 65 + will account approximately 12 million in 2015 which is about
18% of the population in the UK. (Verdict amp; SAS, 2012) Furthermore, home delivery and local
shopping will play a much greater role for grey consumers as they are less mobile. Therefore, they are
just as likely to use technology as younger consumers as new technology is more user friendly now.
(Verdict amp; SAS, 2012) According to Verdict, middle income shoppers are more and more seeking
discounters as the inflation brings a new attitude to value. The price is still important but products
must offer more than low prices to be perceived as good value. As a result, good value for groceries is

Soft Release Program
Conservation is the act of preservation of nature, it includes the conservation of animals and their
habitats (Cambridge Dictionary). Animals are being conserved because humans are increasing the
natural rate of extinction, resulting in animals becoming endangered before they would be naturally
(Jowit, 2010). There are many conservation programs dedicated to helping slow down and reduce the
rate of extinction. Some of these programs aim to preserve the natural habitats of animals and other
programs promote the breeding of the animals. All of these programs hope to increase the population
of the animal in the wild. It is vital that the animal goes through these programs before their release so
that they have a chance of surviving in a wild environment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The program will relocate Devils from Maria island to Wukalina to reinforce the population there. The
most recent project is taking place in may 2017, and is to release the Devil into the wild and to study
how the vaccination affects their immunity to DFTD, the vaccinated devils will come from the Maria
island Devils. The program will also investigate the benefits of a soft release program and a hard
release program and how these affect their chances in the wild. Soft release programs are believed to
be more beneficial for the animal. A soft release program leaves the animal in its release pen for a time
before it is released, this allows it to leave when it likes and removes pressure on it. A hard release is
when the devil is released without spending any time in its environment. This will also help to
understand effective ways to release the Devil. Programs like this are the groundwork for conservation
and is paving the way to an increase in the population (Tasmanian Government). For a positive future
for the Devil it imperative that research programs similar to this are

Civil Disobedience In Democracy
Webster defines civil disobedience as the refusal to obey government commands or demands in a
nonviolent and generally collective means of forcing concessions of the government. This has been a
long standing institution within democracy since it s inception. Many argue that the start of the
American Revolution was founded upon acts of civil disobedience such as the Boston Tea Party. This
sort of peaceful opposition resonates constantly throughout history, whether it be through the fasting
and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi in protest of British imperialism, or during the more recent protests
at several large international airports in which protestors sought to oppose the newly elected President
Trump and show solidarity with middle eastern refugees. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These violent protests are usually intended to affect immediate change, but rarely do more than incite
rage against the protesters. Occasionally, such as in the case of the French or American revolutions,
these protests create a lasting difference within a nation. It is more likely, however, such as in the case
of Ferguson Missouri, that the local or national authorities will crack down on the protesters and that
over time these protests are thought of as unnecessarily violent and ineffective. It is my opinion that
an aggressive approach to enacting change generally becomes a needless danger to the everyday
citizen. An exception to this rule are those protests and revolutions that provide freedom and aide to
those who need

The Franchising Scheme Of Mcdonalds
1) Back in the 1960s and 1970s, company and corporations tried to branch out using the franchising
scheme, since it s the safest way for both the franchisor and franchisee. Compared to others,
McDonald was way ahead of their competition again when it comes to franchising. Unlike other fast
food chains, McDonalds executives were interested in expanding their franchises by offering lower
franchising fee instead of demanding a large fee up front, sold off the rights to entire territories, and
earned money by selling supplies directly to their franchises. Together with their well known brand
recognition, McDonalds continues to expand more and more, just like what Ray Kroc wanted from the
beginning. This kind of explained why there are so many McDonalds restaurants compared to others,
such as Carl s Jr and Burgers King. While this might seems like a good business decision for the
company, it s a 2 way knife for franchisee. Instead of demanding large royalties or selling supplies,
McDonald became the landlord for most of their franchises. These franchisee have to pay up to 40%
markup and that one single contract breach could lead to franchisee s eviction. Over the years, this
eventually turned into a good business for company and as one of McDonalds executive put it We are
in the real estate business and the only reasons that we were able to sell fifteen cent hamburgers is
because it is the only way that help our tenants to us our rent. In other words, to open up a franchise

The Management Theory Of Management
Management has experienced remarkable shifts in the way that organizations conduct business
particularly in the last century, due to the evolving workplace as well as tremendous changes in the
roles of leaders in organizations. Early managers often relied on authoritative tactics to get the job
done, which we have learned from history does not work very well for many modern organizations. In
this paper, I will be analyzing the management approach my organization takes and whether this is the
best approach to meet organizational goals and whether or not my organization may benefit from
adopting a different approach or combining multiple approaches.
What are management theories? Management theories are utilized in various organizations in an effort
to increase organizational effectiveness and service delivery. The management theory that an
organization decides to adhere to will vary based on the type of organization, as well as, the services
and/or products that it offers. Therefore, it is not uncommon for an organization to use multiple
theories when implementing strategies in the workplace.

Matthew Mark And Luke
Introduction
The Gospels Matthew, Mark and Luke are referred to as the Synoptic Gospels because they share a
common vision of the life of Jesus. Among the fundamental issues of Gospel scholarship is the
question of their literary relationship. Because they are so alike, the question that arises is whether any
of the Gospel authors had access to the other Gospels and other potential sources to compose their
own. This paper will provide an overview of the hypothetical missing Gospel designated Q after the
German word Quelle, meaning source and if it impacts the historical reliability of the New Testament.
What is Source Criticism?
The intention of source criticism is to expose earlier sources that may have been utilized in the
development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Source Q is the only one that is common to Luke and Mathew. Scholars assume that Q existed due to
the large portions of Luke and Matthew are essentially identical to each other and that are not found in
Mark. While an explanation for this may be that Luke copied Matthew (or vice versa) it would not
explain the problem of why these two Gospels radically differ from one another on other respects. If
either Luke or Matthew derived their Gospel from the other, then it would be expected that far more
common material and shared themes would be present. Therefore the majority of scholars hypothesize
that Matthew and Luke shared source Q in addition to the Gospel of Mark. Modern scholarship on Q
considers it not as a single source but instead a set of shorter sayings all of which may not have been
utilized by Matthew and Luke. No manuscript of Q has ever been found but its assumed existence is

Describe The Role Of Atp In Living Organisms
Adenosine triphosphate (also known as ATP) energy, is the one molecule that connects many functions
of life. ATP connects the feeding styles (autotrophs and heterotrophs, photosynthesis, respiration, the
natural cycles of carbon, nitrogen, and energy in food chains, as well as the law of nature, or
conservation of energy and mass. ATP is defined as a compound used by cells to store and release
energy and acquires and transfers chemical energy in reactions that power these functions. ATP is
made up of adenine, a 5 carbon sugar (ribose), and three phosphate groups. ATP gets its energy when a
cell breaks the chemical bonds that exist between the second and third phosphate groups.
ATP directly influences the processes of feeding for both autotrophs and heterotrophs. Autotroph is
defined as an organism that is able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The carbon cycle occurs when organism release carbon through respiration, or when decomposers, a
type of heterotroph, release carbon from dead organisms as they break them down. This released
carbon then circles through the environment and the atmosphere to be used in other earthly processes.
The nitrogen cycle is aided and used by both autotrophs and heterotrophs. Autotrophs use the nitrogen
cycle to make nucleic acids from nitrates and nitrites. Heterotrophs use the nitrogen cycle when
consumers eat producers (autotrophs) and reuse their nitrogen. Heterotrophs also aid the nitrogen
cycle because decomposers release nitrogen from dead organisms. The nitrogen cycle passes nitrogen
through the soil, organisms, and air, through the use of feeding styles as well as other processes.
Energy in food chains is another type of natural cycle. Organisms use energy on respiration which is a
process involving food. Consumers also take part in the energy in food chain cycle when they take
energy from other organisms they eat. These cycles are a large part of the biological circle of

Essay about Billabong
Billabong was founded in the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia in 1973 by Gordon Merchant. At
first, he designed and created the board shorts at his home and then sold them to local surf shops.
Surfers soon realized the durability of Merchant s board shorts that was the result of his triple stitching
technique. Merchant understood that his company needed to expand to achieve success, so Billabong
started to sponsor contests these contests increased the public s awareness of Merchant s products and
the company consequently expanded. By the 1980s, Billabong board shorts were present throughout
Australia.[citation needed] Based upon his success in Australia, Merchant decided to export Billabong

Sonnet 73 By William Shakespeare
The poem Sonnet 73 by William Shakespeare follows a typical Shakespearean sonnet structure;
fourteen lines, three quatrains followed by a rhyming couplet, a basic ababcdcdefefgg rhyme scheme,
and predominately following iambic pentameter with one additional unstressed syllable in the first line
of each quatrain and the couplet. The sonnet as a whole is an extended metaphor for the aging and
process and death; however, it is broken into three smaller metaphors all supporting the speaker s
impending end of life through the process of aging. Natural aspects winter, twilight, and fire are
presented as an extended metaphor for the the thematic undertone of aging and death. Nature alone is
emblematic of the process of aging throughout one s life. Nature is always changing, just as humans
are never the same in one second to the next. Humans are an outcome of natural processes. It is only
right that the aging of the speaker be represented through natures own developments. The two work
simultaneously to present the journey of the speaker towards an acceptance of his death and loss love.
It is through natural cycles he realizes the only condition to living is death. The metaphor begins in
quatrain one with the symbolism of winter. The coloring of the yellow leaves falling from the tree clue
the reader into the seasonal time period. The speaker directly compares himself to winter when he says
That time of year thou may st in me behold . He holds the season

Ray Bradbury Influences
Ray Bradbury is known as one of the most influential writers in the science fiction genre. His most
famous works Fahrenheit 451 and Something Wicked This Way Comes incorporate common science
fiction themes but are made to be something even more interesting with Bradbury s unique style and
ideas. Although he is most well known for his science fiction novels, he also wrote within the genres
of fantasy and horror. Bradbury would often incorporate all three genres in one novel to create a work
that truly went with the ideas running through his head. Ray Bradbury influence the science fiction
genre through his distinct writing style, use of children as symbols, and his use of influences from the
world around him to criticize modern warfare. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was able to instill fear in his readers through writing about things that hit close to home; however,
he could offset the despair with humor. Many science fiction authors set their stories on other planets
or in a different realm, but to Bradbury, science fiction is not the progress of science projected into
alternate worlds, but rather dealing with the impact of various forms of technology on societies that
are familiar to the reader (Wolfe 104). Many of his stories are set in small town USA or in a futuristic,
war torn society that truly isn t an unimaginable possibility for our world. His strength as a writer was
most obvious in the fact that he wrote about things his readers truly cared about, such as the
fundamental fears and longings, not things many choose to distract themselves with like sports,
politics, and crime (Knight 4). Even through the fear and sadness of his novels he can turn a stock
situation inside out; even invest it with a degree of humor (Peirce 65). In many cases there would be a
character ur situation to relieve the tension of the story and give the reader a break from all the

Counter-Culture Youth Pic Essay
In the following essay, I will attempt to highlight the phenomenon in cinema known as the
counterculture youth pic. This trend in production started in the late 1960 s as a result of the economic
and cultural influences on the film industry of that time. The following essay looks at how those
influences helped to shape a new genre in the film industry, sighting Easy Rider as a main example,
and suggests some possible reasons for the relatively short popularity of the genre.
The standard story of the counterculture begins with an account of the social order against which it
rebelled, a social order that was known to just about everyone by 1960 as the mass society. The tale of
post war malaise and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following the beatnik movement of the late 1950 s a number of young people, embracing some of the
same ideas, congregated in San Diego s Haight suburb. But it was not necessarily just the youth of the
day that were part of this social rejection.
The last half of the 1960 s saw the emergence of seemingly new cultures among young people, which
were promptly collapsed under the label youth culture by adults. Even so, these cultures were neither
entirely novel, nor limited to young people, nor so homogeneous as to be described by one label.
(Grans, Comparative Analysis)
Part of what made this movement so distinguishable at the time was the rebellion against the fashion
industry, as well as social norms. It was relatively easy to pick out which people sympathized with the
movement, especially with the characteristic male look of the Jesus Christ hair and beard. They
dressed to highlight their freakiness, combining clothes of other times and cultures.
Davy Crockett buckskin, military surplus, Buddhist robes, Edwardian suits, Errol Flynn pirate shirts,
native American headbands, capes, cowboy and Beatle boots, hats bowlers, stove top, cowboy,
Eskimo, anything and beads, of course. (Echols, Shaky Ground)
It was not only the social values and fashion trends that were experimented with. This period in
history also saw a large rise in drug usage.

Results: In this practical series, we walked through the practice of conceptualising a problem and

different aspects of the process (for example, the different species participating) that we want to take

Of Mice And Men Unfinished Children Of God Analysis
Many of the characters in John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men could be considered unfinished children
of God based on their lifestyle. Lennie Small, Carlson, and Candy are unfinished children of God
because they lack purity, completeness, and their lives are filled with imperfections and loneliness.
Everything that Steinbeck wrote had a purpose. For instance, Clara, the owner of the other cathouse, is
actually Lennie s aunt. Lennie was the product of prostitution, this could be the reason he lacks
developmental skills. Although not every character has a unique backstory, their lives still lack similar
qualities. In Of Mice and Men, Lennie is a character with remarkable strength despite having a mind
of a child. Lennie does not understand much that occurs around him or even his own strength. Lennie
considers the character George Milton as a guardian because he is a leader and guides Lennie to make
good decisions. Lennie is distraught when George is not there to instruct him and the absence of
George results in unnecessary casualties and severe consequences. Throughout the book, Steinbeck
compares Lennie to different animals. Lennie is compared to a horse when he snorts into the water
like a horse, he is also compared to a bear when he drags his feet a little, the way a bear drags his
paws. Steinbeck wants the readers to understand that Lennie has a simple mind and that his actions are
not meant to be hostile or malicious. Most children are given toys to play with during their childhood,
however, Lennie was given mice to pet. His childhood toy later fuels his obsession of petting soft
things, whether it is fur, fabric, or hair. Sadly, death is unavoidable for Lennie because of his lack of
intelligence and self control. When Lennie is killed, it is out of love for him, not hatred. Lennie is an
unfinished child of God because his life lacks development and is filled with imperfection. Carlson, a
powerful, big stomached man is a minor character in this novel when compared to George or Lennie,
however, he suffers a lack of purity and is careless towards the feelings of others. Carlson shoots an
innocent dog and then proceeds to casually clean his gun. When George kills Lennie and

Robert by Browning are very different; where as Hardy creates a modest, baffled character who feels

These characteristics are also revealed through the poet s use of stanza, structure and language

Cheerleading Essay
The sport of cheerleading has been around for a long time; since 1884 in fact! In the beginning, cheer
was a sport dominated by college men. Since, women have taken over, and in 1967 the first ranked
college cheer competition was held. Both school and competitive cheerleading offer many rewarding
opportunities. Though they are a part of the same sport, the two types of squads are actually quite
diverse. School cheer is undeniably a worthwhile and respectable sport, but competitive teams often
provide a more challenging approach, and are more suited to experienced cheerleaders.
Because school teams are intended to promote school spirit, the routines are typically directed towards
the crowd, and they tend to be catchy and simple in order to best engage spectators. These
performances often involve attention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gyms will often hold practices four or more days of the week. Competitions are often on the
weekends, and cheerleaders will usually have to make the drive themselves or be driven by family

Costs of school cheer include: paying for uniforms, bows, shoes, and travel costs for away games.
Many schools may hold fundraisers or have booster clubs to help pay for the cheerleaders, as well as
other teams. In the case that the costs involved with cheering are more than a family can afford,
schools and coaches will often be willing to work out a way that the cheerleader will still be allowed
to participate.
The costs of competing through a private gym is far more substantial than school cheer. Not only does
one often have to pay for the cost of multiple uniforms and bows; special makeup, shoes, enrollment
in the gym, and competition entrance fees are also significant expenses. In addition, gyms typically
place the monetary responsibility on families; if a participant cannot afford the designated fees, they

Comparing the Quest in M. Butterfly and American Beauty
The Quest in M. Butterfly and American Beauty
Happiness is defined as enjoying, showing, or characterized by pleasure; joyous; contented. Based on
this definition we all search for happiness our entire lives. Two very different stories address this idea
of the quest for happiness. M. Butterfly by David Henry Hwang is the story of a man named
Gallimard who is longing for his love Butterfly to return to him. John Deeney describes it as him,
clinging to his idea of a Perfect Woman to the end by costuming himself into the victimized Butterfly
though his final suicide. Although Gallimard s infatuation with Song sometimes makes him cut a
rather ridiculous figure, his dead seriousness at the end evokes a certain amount of pathos and ... Show

Not only is he using Gallimard for the government, but also for the control he has over him. Song
knows that Gallimard thinks he is the perfect woman. He allows him to believe this for more than
twenty years during their affair. It was not until the end that Song told Gallimard the truth. Song lived
most of her life as a lie, only because she thought it was making her happy.
On the other side of Song s insecure image was his lover Gallimard. Gallimard first lived a happy life
with his lover Song. He changed his whole life and even got a promotion because of his new attitude.
Not praising himself he said, It is because of you that I was promoted tonight. You have changed my
life forever. My little Butterfly, there should be no more secrets: I love you (Meyer 1233). Gallimard
truly loved Song and after finding out that Song was really a man, he was crushed. He was ridiculed

The Caribbean Slavery
Growing up in New York City, each year students are taught about the slavery that took place on
American soil. As a student, we put so much emphasis on slavery in America that it is almost easy to
forget that slavery existed outside of the United States. The reality is that slavery was common all over
the world at some point in time. Take for example, the slavery in the Caribbean was just as severe as
slavery in the U.S. Slaves in the Caribbean faced the similar challenges and adversities to the slaves in
America. Often times slaves resisted their oppressors, most famously was the Haitian Revolution,
which had a powerful historical impact. Many Caribbean slaves lost their lives by trying to become
free, and many of them live today to tell us all about what had happened.
The slave societies were similar in every Caribbean island just happened in different centuries.
According to (Gab Heuman), Barbados sugar revolution of the seventeenth century did not vary
dramatically from what happened in Jamaica and Saint Domingue in the eighteenth century and Cuba
and Puerto Rico in the nineteenth. The only thing that was different amongst these countries was the
technology that was being used. Like in Cuba in the nineteenth century, for example, they had more
advanced equipment s than some enslaved had throughout the seventeenth century. However, each
enslaves in the Caribbean sugar plantation faced the same treatment no matter what century they were
in. The sugar plantation was

Arkansas Rhetorical Analysis
The Confederacy gained support after shots rang at Ft. Sumter on xxx 1861. Before that event,
Arkansas preferred to remain neutral and hoped for a peaceful outcome to the divided country.
President Lincoln s decision to issue a call for troops signified an attempt to use violence to preserve
the union, and triggered a vote that would change Arkansas forever. The elected leaders of Arkansas
by a margin of 69 to 1 passed a disunion ordinance and chose to stand with the Confederate States to
oppose Northern aggression, unfortunately there loyalty went underappreciated as Arkansas
geographical and political significance went overlooked by confederate leaders and their war strategy.
This strategic error resulted in limited government support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hindman assumed command of the Trans Mississippi District, an area that stretched Missouri to
Louisiana. Charged with the organization of troops to defend the states of Texas, Missouri, Arkansas,
Louisiana, and the Indian Territory, he had the appropriate authority but very few resources. With
limited forces, he imposed martial law throughout Arkansas in order to seize munitions, gather
supplies, and enforce the Conscription Act. He initiated the rationing of goods and ordered the
forming of independent Guerilla bands. Groups known as the Bands of Tens formed from his issuance
of General Orders Number 17, which called for all citizens to assemble in groups of ten and elect a
captain. The group s sole mission was to annoy and harass the union army whenever and wherever
possible, just as Hindman envisioned the Spanish doing to Napoleon s Army. The strategic objective
of this action was to slow down the Union armies long enough to rebuild a conventional force. His
efforts were relatively successful as he was able to amass 18000 regular forces and over 5000 irregular
troops. Even with limited resources, a leader with vision and an understanding of military theory can
develop a strategy, which if given some assistance can prove to be extremely effective. His newly
formed army showed promise against Curtis s Army of the Southwest in June

Effects Of Collapse Of The Philippines
Collapsing of Philippines Many countries and organizations start to wonder that what is going on with
Philippines, and it is going to collapse from many problems that occur in the country or not.
Philippines is a sovereign island county that locates in the Southeast Asia, and it is also one of the
countries that locates on the Ring of Fire. In 1965, Philippines used to be second richest country in
Asian, but it is currently one of the poorest countries in Asian (Cruz, 2013). There are both challenges
and advantages of Philippines. Its location is a major challenge because the Ring of Fire is the area
that has a high possibility of occurring natural disasters such as volcanic activities and earthquakes
(National Geographic, n.d.). Another challenge for Philippines is development of the country, which is
a developing country. According to United Nations (2001), there are five negative issues on
developing countries: lack of knowledge; missed opportunities to prevent disability, and failure to

When there are crimes in the country, victims always have less chance to get justice because criminals
can take all of their money and leave the country before they get caught. As Camello (n.d.) states that
[by] the time the [Department of Justice] DOJ has caught up with powerful crime offenders, the crime
offenders have already fattened their bank accounts, their wallets, and their stomach, literally and the
eyewitnesses against them are already dead, kidnapped, or murdered (like in the Philip Pestanio case),

respectable justice system. Most people in the country are losing respect for the system because no

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Geospatial Satellite Imagery
Over the past decade, the ability of large financial institutions to accurately predict changes in the
price of financial securities by using advanced technology has increased exponentially (Bloomberg).
Specifically, the introduction of affordable geospatial satellite imagery has enabled investment
managers to estimate crop yields, oil supply, and livestock quantities with low margins of error. This
information is used to inform trading decisions, which often result in large profits (Woyke). While
extremely useful, this technology is only available to a select number of institutions, as they have
signed exclusivity and pricing agreements with the technology firms providing the data. These
agreements prevent small investment funds and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One salesperson from Planet Labs offered one million square miles of daily corn imagery for a
$300,000 per month subscription (McDonald). A second salesperson from Descartes Labs offered all
U.S. corn and soy imagery for $500,000 per month (Smith). For a multi billion dollar or multi trillion
dollar institution, this cost is negligible when compared with the potential returns. However, smaller
firms and retail investors have been priced out of the market entirely according to Tian Nan from
Almitas Capital, a $150 million hedge fund in Southern California. The salesperson from Descartes
Labs told Nan that he was not authorized to sell data any cheaper due to pricing agreements with their
main client . Furthermore, he disclosed that even if someone is willing to pay the market price for
data, it would be delayed 24 hours due to terms in the agreement. In most cases, after 24 hours, the
data is useless for trading purposes; it is simply too late to make a profitable decision. Phone
conversations with representatives from TellusLabs, Orbital Insight, and Quandl revealed the same
findings as Descartes Labs. Clearly, the larger institutions have a distinct advantage and the power to
block others from trading profitably in the commodities markets. If only large institutions have access
to superior information, smaller

What Are The Causes Of Desmoid Tumors
The most common causes linked to desmoid tumors are genetics. Parents pass on the inherited gene
called beta catenin to the offspring. Another form of this mutated genes causing this condition are
associated with familial adenomatous polyposis is an inherited form of colon cancer.
In some cases, the tumor does occur randomly with no association to genetics or other existing health
conditions. These forms are described as sporadic and generally don t spread to other parts of the
body, unlike an aggressive fibromatosis condition also referred to as desmoid tumors outside the
abdomen.
The high levels of hormones during pregnancy raise the risks desmoid tumors. In this stance, the cause
of the tumor is a result of the abdominal wall expanding to accommodate the developing fetus. Other
causes of these tumors during pregnancy are linked to the excessive amounts of hormonal changes

Organizational culture
Organization culture comprises the deep, basic assumptions and beliefs, as well as the shared values
that define organization membership, as well as the member s habitual ways of making decisions, and
presenting themselves, and their organization to those who come in contact with it.
Clegg, Kornberger and Pitsis, 2008
The dictionary definition of a culture is the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of a particular group
of people or a society . An organisation is made up of individuals and the culture of an organization
defines how things are done in an organisation and what behaviour and actions are considered as
acceptable or not acceptable. Hofstede defines culture as the collective programming of the mind that

Thus the culture of an organisation has an influence and to an extent acts as a driver for everyone who
forms a part of an organisation whether it is at an individual level or a group level. This view is
supported by Harrison and Stokes when they say that
Culture impacts most aspects of organizational life, such as how decisions are made, who makes them,
how rewards are distributed, who is promoted, how people are treated, how the organization responds
to its environment, and so on (9)
In fact, these assumptions, beliefs, norms and values which are shared by the organisation s members
that can significantly affect strategy formulation and implementation. (10)
Organisational cultural is in every sense just that, a culture. So not only does it act as an internal
binding force which keeps the organisation together and in harmony, but it also defines how an
individual should present himself and his organisation when he represents it. For example Price
Waterhouse Coopers takes pride in the ever increasing diversity of its workforce and works to instil
the idea of flexible but diligent working. This ideology could be considered as values forming part of
PWC s organisational culture. So whenever an employee comes in touch with a client these values
will be automatically be reflected in

Should School Be A Mandatory Course On The Real World And...
Do you remember when we had our first job, and couldn t wait for that first check? I remember mine.
The money was all gone in 60 seconds, as I spent it all on things that didn t really matter. We all
wished we could ve prevented that spending habit. I regret every penny that I lost, while I had no idea
how to use money correctly. School districts need to focus on providing courses that will better
prepare students for real life issues. Therefore, there should be a mandatory course on, Personal
Finance , in high School, because as they are struggling to figure out who they are as they are also
oblivious to their own financial identity status, they don t know have the financial discipline from

academic failure. There are many ways to prepare these students for the real world and money. First of
all, if you remember that piggy bank that we kept as kids, it was probably the only understanding we
had about money, growing up. We would put money in there, and we weren t allowed to touch it
unless it got full. And when that time came, the only way to access our savings, is if we sacrificed that
piggy, by throwing it on the ground, or hammering it to pieces. We did just about anything to get that
piggy bank to open. Well, because of the lack of knowledge today, our reality of piggy banks as adults
has diminished. Today that piggy has hole at the bottom. We are able to dig into that

For my non participant observation, I went to a Cheesecake Factory in a strip mall located nearby an

and sex in society. When I was observing people, I was really trying to locate patterns among genders,
or assumed genders. Gender can be defined as an achieved status: that which is constructed through
psychological, cultural, and social means (West and Zimmerman pp. 125). The article describes
gender as something that is achieved, grown up with, and taught to by others who perform gender.
Performing gender is conforming to stereotypes and ideals put in place by members of society in order

United States Of The African American Male Students Essay
Upon the premise of further exploration, Mari Ann Roberts found a definition of what is meant to care
for underachieving African American male students. Roberts surveyed eight African American
teachers to attain their point of view of what it meant to care for their students which included
informing them about how to survive in the racism of the United States of America that they will and
are exposed to (Roberts 456). The discussion of political clarity was addressed by several teachers to
help students understand the importance of education and emphasized that they believed, for Black
people, academic achievement would eventually equal equality (Roberts 458).
It should be noted the research identified teachers believed: informing the students about socio
political/colour talk matters helped them to understand as African Americans you have to work harder
to make it in the U.S (Roberts 458). Finally, this study points out students needed to be pushed to
work harder and encouraged to change their demeanor to not give Caucasians reason to hurt them in
any fashion as far as advancing academically (Roberts 458). Several participants encouraged and
demonstrated code switching suggesting

Kelly Outbreak Analysis
The Kelly outbreak is a famous phenomenon in Australia s colonial history. Whilst some people prefer
to see the outbreak as a simple criminal incident between an outlaw and the police, most historians
view it as a broader sociological phenomenon, involving conflict between a larger rural community
and the colonial authorities. An important issue for historians has been to understand the underlying
causes of this criminal outbreak, whether it was mainly due to personal, ethnic or socio economic
factors. This essay will critically examine each of these explanations and argue that the actions of the
Kellys and their supporters, and the reactions of the police can best be understood in terms of broad
socio economic developments in rural Victoria at the time. In his article, Ned Kelly s Sympathisers,
Doug Morrissey suggests that Kelly s Irish heritage was largely responsible for the Kelly outbreak 1.
To support his claim, he points to the intense emotional relationships in the Quinn/Kelly clan and the
high percentage of Irish sympathisers among Ned s supporters 2. Ned Kelly was clearly imbued with a
sense of his Irish heritage, but the evidence does not suggest that this was a major contributing factor
in the outbreak. Public sympathy, it seemed, crossed social and ethnic barriers 3 and was quite
widespread, especially after the Euroa National Bank robbery, where the efficiency, lack of violence
and manner of the gang were well noted 4. Furthermore, Ned once stated that he

In a dimly lit stone room, gathered around a simple stone table, surrounded by plain stone pillars,
eight large figures stood barking at each other in harsh, guttural tones. The room was undecorated;

room were far better decorated, wearing coloured furs over their leather and chain armor. Each one
was adorned with a sigil representing their tribe hanging from a chain around their neck. The largest
among them, however, wore no sigil. Instead he wore a simple iron crown with no decorations. This
marked him as the chosen leader of the tribes, and he was the only one present who held a blade. The

Character Analysis Of Lulu
According to author Lyn Gardner of the guardian.com Lulu is described as the face that launched a
thousand fantasies. She is all things to all men . . . She is a blank. She is what you want her to be. Her
name is Lulu, and she is nothing but trouble (Gardner). The First Lulu gleans the drama, deception,
lies, and vengeance akin to play s Don Giovanni and Don Juan. However, one of the primary
differences remains is Lulu s character is a woman. However, Lulu is no less cunning, in fact her
character is more cavalier and unrepentant in her unfaithfulness to men compared to Don Giovanni
and Don Juan combined. Alban Berg describes Lulu as a woman created for evil also destruction and

Therefore Lulu candidly expresses her distaste in Frank Wedekind s play The First Lulu. Lulu notes he
is banal Simple minded. No education. No inkling what impression he gives. Sees nothing, neither
himself nor me. Blind as a stovepipe (qtd. in Wedekind 80).
Although Schooning has ulterior motives, he has enough concern for the lady he desires to marry and
his friendship with Schwartz to end the affair. Schoning says when Schwartz married Lulu, he became
his friend (qtd. in Wedekind 80). Therefore, Schoning encourages Lulu to settle down, Schoning says
take him in hand. That s what any wife has to do . . . If he has no education, what about . . . The sacred
ties of . . . ? (qtd. in Wedekind 81). Thus, Lulu has no respect for the relationship affirmed in her
statement suspicious as a thief yet lets himself be lied to and deceived . . . One loses all respect . . . On
our wedding night, I made him believe I was still a virgin (qtd. in Wedekind 82). As the play
continues, Lulu s unfaithfulness continues, and she uses many men to get whatever she pleases.
Moreover, Lulu switches male partners similar to changing costumes witnessed in the video clip
Pandora s Box. However, the most saddening part of the play lies in the woman Gerschwitz.
Moreover, Gerschwitz loved Lulu passionately and desperately wanted to be with her. Yet as the play

Arab Spring American Revolution
The Arab Spring is generally defined as the series of anti government protests, uprisings and armed
rebellions that spread across the Middle East in early 2011. Almost all of the major countries in the
Middle East such as Syria, Jordan, and Morocco were all involved in these protests. Each country had
unique demands that led to major uprising throughout the Middle East. Through a major exploration
and study, it is clear the Arab Spring had key reasons for failing and succeeding which has led to
modern day conflicts.
Syria is the clearest proof that the Arab Spring failed. The main reforms Syrian protesters desired was
freedom from the Assad regime, allowance of political parties, equal rights for Kurds, and the freedom
of speech press and authority. Not only did the protesting against Bashar Al Assad fail, but it lead to an

King Mohammed VI led an absolute monarchy in the country and many Moroccans fought for octal
and economic reform, which is exactly what they got. The King willingly gave up a majority of his
power and had a re election for all of parliament. In Jordan, King Abdullah was faced with upset from
his people due to unemployment and government corruption. As a result of these complaints, Abdullah
allowed for a re election for parliament as well as considering the possibility for Jordan to be a
democratic state. Clearly the Arab Spring can still be argued as a success do to the peaceful and
satisfying results of protests in countries like Morocco and Jordan.
The Arab Spring is faced with many different initial goals and resulting outcomes. Due to the vast
amount of countries involved in the uprising, there is not concrete way to answer if the Arab Spring
was truly a success or failure. Each country has different cultural, social, religious, and economic
situations which greatly affected the result of each country s

  • 4. Soft Release Program Conservation is the act of preservation of nature, it includes the conservation of animals and their habitats (Cambridge Dictionary). Animals are being conserved because humans are increasing the natural rate of extinction, resulting in animals becoming endangered before they would be naturally (Jowit, 2010). There are many conservation programs dedicated to helping slow down and reduce the rate of extinction. Some of these programs aim to preserve the natural habitats of animals and other programs promote the breeding of the animals. All of these programs hope to increase the population of the animal in the wild. It is vital that the animal goes through these programs before their release so that they have a chance of surviving in a wild environment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The program will relocate Devils from Maria island to Wukalina to reinforce the population there. The most recent project is taking place in may 2017, and is to release the Devil into the wild and to study how the vaccination affects their immunity to DFTD, the vaccinated devils will come from the Maria island Devils. The program will also investigate the benefits of a soft release program and a hard release program and how these affect their chances in the wild. Soft release programs are believed to be more beneficial for the animal. A soft release program leaves the animal in its release pen for a time before it is released, this allows it to leave when it likes and removes pressure on it. A hard release is when the devil is released without spending any time in its environment. This will also help to understand effective ways to release the Devil. Programs like this are the groundwork for conservation and is paving the way to an increase in the population (Tasmanian Government). For a positive future for the Devil it imperative that research programs similar to this are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Civil Disobedience In Democracy Webster defines civil disobedience as the refusal to obey government commands or demands in a nonviolent and generally collective means of forcing concessions of the government. This has been a long standing institution within democracy since it s inception. Many argue that the start of the American Revolution was founded upon acts of civil disobedience such as the Boston Tea Party. This sort of peaceful opposition resonates constantly throughout history, whether it be through the fasting and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi in protest of British imperialism, or during the more recent protests at several large international airports in which protestors sought to oppose the newly elected President Trump and show solidarity with middle eastern refugees. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These violent protests are usually intended to affect immediate change, but rarely do more than incite rage against the protesters. Occasionally, such as in the case of the French or American revolutions, these protests create a lasting difference within a nation. It is more likely, however, such as in the case of Ferguson Missouri, that the local or national authorities will crack down on the protesters and that over time these protests are thought of as unnecessarily violent and ineffective. It is my opinion that an aggressive approach to enacting change generally becomes a needless danger to the everyday citizen. An exception to this rule are those protests and revolutions that provide freedom and aide to those who need ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Franchising Scheme Of Mcdonalds 1) Back in the 1960s and 1970s, company and corporations tried to branch out using the franchising scheme, since it s the safest way for both the franchisor and franchisee. Compared to others, McDonald was way ahead of their competition again when it comes to franchising. Unlike other fast food chains, McDonalds executives were interested in expanding their franchises by offering lower franchising fee instead of demanding a large fee up front, sold off the rights to entire territories, and earned money by selling supplies directly to their franchises. Together with their well known brand recognition, McDonalds continues to expand more and more, just like what Ray Kroc wanted from the beginning. This kind of explained why there are so many McDonalds restaurants compared to others, such as Carl s Jr and Burgers King. While this might seems like a good business decision for the company, it s a 2 way knife for franchisee. Instead of demanding large royalties or selling supplies, McDonald became the landlord for most of their franchises. These franchisee have to pay up to 40% markup and that one single contract breach could lead to franchisee s eviction. Over the years, this eventually turned into a good business for company and as one of McDonalds executive put it We are in the real estate business and the only reasons that we were able to sell fifteen cent hamburgers is because it is the only way that help our tenants to us our rent. In other words, to open up a franchise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Management Theory Of Management Management has experienced remarkable shifts in the way that organizations conduct business particularly in the last century, due to the evolving workplace as well as tremendous changes in the roles of leaders in organizations. Early managers often relied on authoritative tactics to get the job done, which we have learned from history does not work very well for many modern organizations. In this paper, I will be analyzing the management approach my organization takes and whether this is the best approach to meet organizational goals and whether or not my organization may benefit from adopting a different approach or combining multiple approaches. What are management theories? Management theories are utilized in various organizations in an effort to increase organizational effectiveness and service delivery. The management theory that an organization decides to adhere to will vary based on the type of organization, as well as, the services and/or products that it offers. Therefore, it is not uncommon for an organization to use multiple theories when implementing strategies in the workplace. • 8. Matthew Mark And Luke Introduction The Gospels Matthew, Mark and Luke are referred to as the Synoptic Gospels because they share a common vision of the life of Jesus. Among the fundamental issues of Gospel scholarship is the question of their literary relationship. Because they are so alike, the question that arises is whether any of the Gospel authors had access to the other Gospels and other potential sources to compose their own. This paper will provide an overview of the hypothetical missing Gospel designated Q after the German word Quelle, meaning source and if it impacts the historical reliability of the New Testament. What is Source Criticism? The intention of source criticism is to expose earlier sources that may have been utilized in the development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Source Q is the only one that is common to Luke and Mathew. Scholars assume that Q existed due to the large portions of Luke and Matthew are essentially identical to each other and that are not found in Mark. While an explanation for this may be that Luke copied Matthew (or vice versa) it would not explain the problem of why these two Gospels radically differ from one another on other respects. If either Luke or Matthew derived their Gospel from the other, then it would be expected that far more common material and shared themes would be present. Therefore the majority of scholars hypothesize that Matthew and Luke shared source Q in addition to the Gospel of Mark. Modern scholarship on Q considers it not as a single source but instead a set of shorter sayings all of which may not have been utilized by Matthew and Luke. No manuscript of Q has ever been found but its assumed existence is well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Describe The Role Of Atp In Living Organisms Adenosine triphosphate (also known as ATP) energy, is the one molecule that connects many functions of life. ATP connects the feeding styles (autotrophs and heterotrophs, photosynthesis, respiration, the natural cycles of carbon, nitrogen, and energy in food chains, as well as the law of nature, or conservation of energy and mass. ATP is defined as a compound used by cells to store and release energy and acquires and transfers chemical energy in reactions that power these functions. ATP is made up of adenine, a 5 carbon sugar (ribose), and three phosphate groups. ATP gets its energy when a cell breaks the chemical bonds that exist between the second and third phosphate groups. ATP directly influences the processes of feeding for both autotrophs and heterotrophs. Autotroph is defined as an organism that is able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The carbon cycle occurs when organism release carbon through respiration, or when decomposers, a type of heterotroph, release carbon from dead organisms as they break them down. This released carbon then circles through the environment and the atmosphere to be used in other earthly processes. The nitrogen cycle is aided and used by both autotrophs and heterotrophs. Autotrophs use the nitrogen cycle to make nucleic acids from nitrates and nitrites. Heterotrophs use the nitrogen cycle when consumers eat producers (autotrophs) and reuse their nitrogen. Heterotrophs also aid the nitrogen cycle because decomposers release nitrogen from dead organisms. The nitrogen cycle passes nitrogen through the soil, organisms, and air, through the use of feeding styles as well as other processes. Energy in food chains is another type of natural cycle. Organisms use energy on respiration which is a process involving food. Consumers also take part in the energy in food chain cycle when they take energy from other organisms they eat. At first, he designed and created the board shorts at his home and then sold them to local surf shops. Surfers soon realized the durability of Merchant s board shorts that was the result of his triple stitching technique. Merchant understood that his company needed to expand to achieve success, so Billabong started to sponsor contests these contests increased the public s awareness of Merchant s products and the company consequently expanded. By the 1980s, Billabong board shorts were present throughout Australia.[citation needed] Based upon his success in Australia, Merchant decided to export Billabong s products and, by the late 1980s, Merchant s ... Following the acquisition of the Gold Coast store Kirra Surf in May, the company announced its acquisition of the retail operations of Quiet Flight, a retail company on the east coast of the US that had already been operating licensed Billabong and Element retail outlets in Times Square, New York, US. The Quiet Flight deal resulted in the addition of 14 Quiet Flight and Surf Warehouse retail stores, most of which were located in Florida, US.[12] Then in June 2008, the founders of the Sector 9 skateboard company accepted an offer from Billabong that also included the purchase of the Gullwing skateboard truck brand.[13] Finally in August, Billabong confirmed the acquisition of boardsport accessories brand DaKine, which specialises in backpacks, bags, gloves and accessories, in a press release that projected that DaKine is expected to contribute approximately 4% of Billabong International Limited s Group sales in the 2008 09 financial year .[14] Billabong s retail expansion continued later in the ... • 12. Sonnet 73 By William Shakespeare The poem Sonnet 73 by William Shakespeare follows a typical Shakespearean sonnet structure; fourteen lines, three quatrains followed by a rhyming couplet, a basic ababcdcdefefgg rhyme scheme, and predominately following iambic pentameter with one additional unstressed syllable in the first line of each quatrain and the couplet. The sonnet as a whole is an extended metaphor for the aging and process and death; however, it is broken into three smaller metaphors all supporting the speaker s impending end of life through the process of aging. Natural aspects winter, twilight, and fire are presented as an extended metaphor for the the thematic undertone of aging and death. Nature alone is emblematic of the process of aging throughout one s life. Nature is always changing, just as humans are never the same in one second to the next. Humans are an outcome of natural processes. It is only right that the aging of the speaker be represented through natures own developments. This trend in production started in the late 1960 s as a result of the economic and cultural influences on the film industry of that time. The following essay looks at how those influences helped to shape a new genre in the film industry, sighting Easy Rider as a main example, and suggests some possible reasons for the relatively short popularity of the genre. The standard story of the counterculture begins with an account of the social order against which it rebelled, a social order that was known to just about everyone by 1960 as the mass society. The last half of the 1960 s saw the emergence of seemingly new cultures among young people, which were promptly collapsed under the label youth culture by adults. Even so, these cultures were neither entirely novel, nor limited to young people, nor so homogeneous as to be described by one label. (Grans, Comparative Analysis) Part of what made this movement so distinguishable at the time was the rebellion against the fashion industry, as well as social norms. • 17. Of Mice And Men Unfinished Children Of God Analysis Many of the characters in John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men could be considered unfinished children of God based on their lifestyle. Lennie Small, Carlson, and Candy are unfinished children of God because they lack purity, completeness, and their lives are filled with imperfections and loneliness. Everything that Steinbeck wrote had a purpose. For instance, Clara, the owner of the other cathouse, is actually Lennie s aunt. Lennie was the product of prostitution, this could be the reason he lacks developmental skills. Although not every character has a unique backstory, their lives still lack similar qualities. In Of Mice and Men, Lennie is a character with remarkable strength despite having a mind of a child. Lennie does not understand much that occurs around him or even his own strength. Lennie considers the character George Milton as a guardian because he is a leader and guides Lennie to make good decisions. Lennie is distraught when George is not there to instruct him and the absence of George results in unnecessary casualties and severe consequences. Throughout the book, Steinbeck compares Lennie to different animals. Lennie is compared to a horse when he snorts into the water like a horse, he is also compared to a bear when he drags his feet a little, the way a bear drags his paws. Steinbeck wants the readers to understand that Lennie has a simple mind and that his actions are not meant to be hostile or malicious. Most children are given toys to play with during their childhood, however, Lennie was given mice to pet. His childhood toy later fuels his obsession of petting soft things, whether it is fur, fabric, or hair. Sadly, death is unavoidable for Lennie because of his lack of intelligence and self control. When Lennie is killed, it is out of love for him, not hatred. Lennie is an unfinished child of God because his life lacks development and is filled with imperfection. Carlson, a powerful, big stomached man is a minor character in this novel when compared to George or Lennie, however, he suffers a lack of purity and is careless towards the feelings of others. Whilst some people prefer to see the outbreak as a simple criminal incident between an outlaw and the police, most historians view it as a broader sociological phenomenon, involving conflict between a larger rural community and the colonial authorities. An important issue for historians has been to understand the underlying causes of this criminal outbreak, whether it was mainly due to personal, ethnic or socio economic factors. This essay will critically examine each of these explanations and argue that the actions of the Kellys and their supporters, and the reactions of the police can best be understood in terms of broad socio economic developments in rural Victoria at the time. In his article, Ned Kelly s Sympathisers, Doug Morrissey suggests that Kelly s Irish heritage was largely responsible for the Kelly outbreak 1. To support his claim, he points to the intense emotional relationships in the Quinn/Kelly clan and the high percentage of Irish sympathisers among Ned s supporters 2.
