Compare And Contrast The Indian Camp And The Doctor s Wife
Ernest Hemingway was a writer who captured the spirit of his generation. Hemingway wrote The
Indian Camp and The Doctor and the Doctor s Wife . Indian Camp is a story about a boy named Nick
and his father who went to the Indian Camp to help deliver the baby. While there they witnessed the
baby s father commit suicide. This sparked Nick s curiosity with death. Both stories detail Nick s
coming of age into adulthood. In the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife Nick s father wants Dick, Eddy,
and Billy to go cut up the wood that is on the beach but Dick tries to tell him that it would by
considered stealing because the logs belong to the Magic crew. Ernest Hemingway s short story Indian
Camp and The Doctor and the Doctor s Wife exhibits Nick Adams ... Show more content on

An Indian woman had been in labor for 2 days, and was in pain and screaming. While the woman
helped her the men went off. The man had moved off up the road to sit in the dark and smoke out of
range of the noise she made. (92) This is sexism because they left the women to care for the Indian
woman that was having a baby. They think it is for women to care for her and did not help at all.
Instead they tried to go far away so they didn t even have to listen to her pain. Also sexism is in the
article Forget the Legend and Read the Work by Margaret Bauer. Therefore not only do I not dispute
the opinion that the woman in labor is a mere prop in Indian Camp, but also I defend Hemingway s
using her as a vehicle toward Nick s potential development and a means of revealing Nick s fathers
callousness. Discussing the issue that women in much of Hemingway s work are not very important of
and by themselves (Bauer 2). In the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife, sexism is portrayed by Hemingway
when he describes the interaction between the wife and the doctor. He leaves her without answering
her questions and goes off to hunt with his son. Hemingway can be determined as a sexist by the way
he portrays the women in his stories as weak and inferior to men. Some people believe that sexism
was part of Hemingway s life because he was married 4 times and had many mistresses and because
of this and the way that he writes he is viewed as a sexist. An example of masculinity versus
femininity in the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife is shown when the doctor is cleaning his shot gun and
the wife says you didn t say anything to anger him did you? and the doctor replies no . This implies
that the wife is weak because she does not want a confrontation. Nick chooses to go with his father
because he wants to be seen as a man and like his father. The doctor wants to feel like a tough man but
walks away from Dick s

The chief feature of the Mormon Church, more formally known as the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints, that distinguishes it from the many variations of mainstream Christianity is that
Mormons believe not only in the Bible but also in another scripture, The Book of Mormon (Fisher,
2005, pp. 453 454).
On April 6, 1830, Joseph Smith formally organized the church that became The Church of Latter Day
Saints. Considered to be the first prophet in the end time before the return of Christ, allegedly Smith
was led by God to discover golden tablets that were the sacred word of God. ... Show more content on

The members are allowed to choose which study to attend. The studies lasted a little over an hour.
The scheduling for various traditions and services was performed in a normal fashion; e.g., how the
service in the church is held (music, sermon, etc.); how activities within the church are scheduled;
bible school for children, etc. No elders or leaders in the church spoke at the services, teaching about
the faith or from the Book of Mormon. This is taught in the classes.
Patti warned me that the members of the church do not interact with each other very much, and that
they weren t necessarily friendly. This did not seem to be the case today, as many of the sisters came
over to speak to Patti, and to meet her friend.
Personal Interview
The following is a transcript of an interview with my friend concerning her personal beliefs and faith
in her religion:
Interviewer: What was the main reason(s) for you to decide to follow the Mormon faith?
Patti: The church has everything I always felt a church should have, even though I wasn t active in any
church. I still believed there was a God and His Son Jesus Christ.
Interviewer: What is it about the Mormon faith that keeps you coming back?
Patti: Its doctrine, organization and people. The spirit I feel when at church.
Interviewer: If there is one thing about the Mormon faith that you don t like, what would that be?
Patti: I like everything! (grinning)
Interviewer: How strict are you in keeping

Mexican And Salvadoran Populations During The United States
Mexican And Salvadoran Populations In The United States
The foreign born population in the United States has increased significantly over the past decades,
with projections for the future demanding great attention. The growing population of people born
outside of the United States reached 13.7% in 2015, not far from the country s all time high of 14.8%
in 1890 (Gomez, 2015). Out of this population, Mexico and El Salvador are placed in the top ten
countries of immigrants origin (Figure 1.)(Zong and Batalova, 2015). Undoubtedly, the Latino migrant
population has significant power in the United States, but this clout extends far beyond the United
States and into their countries of origin, particularly through the impact of remittances ... Show more

From the micro level to the macro level globalization has transformed the world into a smaller place
with constant interactions occurring at every moment between nations, institutions, groups, and
individuals. And with this prevalent interconnectivity, migration between the Global North and the
Global South has been a controversial consequence of this global integration (Hinojosa, 2015). For
this reason one cannot ignore the importance and impact of migrant populations in the country they
settle in, and in the countries of origin.
Mexican and Central American populations in California have become essential to the economy of
their home country, state, and municipality. Through the transfer of remittances the inflow of money
has become an important component of local economies, playing key roles in economic advancement
(Delgado and Marquez, 2009; Faist 2008). The Mexican foreign born population in California is more
than 4 million, and the Salvadoran population is 677,000 (Mejia and Johnson, 2014; Brown and
Patten, 2013). The highest concentrations of these populations are primarily in Southern California,
specifically the Los Angeles area, but with significant communities in the Central Valley and Bay area
(Mejia and Johnson, 2013). The majority of these communities consists of working age adults
employed in low skilled jobs who produce a substantial amount of money that they then send back to
their home country (Mejia and Johnson, 2013). This paper touches

Persuasive Essay On Human Cloning
Human cloning is the genetically identical copy of a human. Human cloning has a history of not going
as planned and ending up with a lot of death. However, They can also be a huge benefit to our society.
It depends on how much people know about human cloning, and how developed human cloning is at
the time.
Bioethics is the study of the ethical issues emerging from advances in biology and medicine. It is also
moral discernment as it relates to medical policies and practice. In bioethics, the ethics of cloning
refers to a variety of ethical positions regarding the practice and possibilities of cloning, especially
human cloning. While many of these views are religious in origin, the questions raised by cloning are
faced by secular perspectives as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

William Tell Argumentative Essay
Some people think William was a hero and some think he was an outlaw. William did not obey the law
or bow down to a king so some people say he is bad. Other people think that he did not bow down
because he was an evil king. He also saved Switzerland. I think that William Tell was an amazing hero
that is not afraid. He did not bow to a king. The king made him almost kill his son and he killed a
king. William Tell did not bow to a king. A long time ago an evil king sent a hat on a pole to the
village. He told everyone to bow to it. Everyone bowed to him even though they did not want to.
Everyone bowed to him except William. William did not want to bow to an evil king. An evil king did
not deserve to be bowed to. Soon after that the king found out that he did not bow to his hat he was
very mad. He decided that he needed to get him back so that everyone would know that he was
powerful and they needed to do what he said. Since he was a tyrant he came up with the worst ...

another arrow came out from his jacket. They king asked what it was for. He was brave and said it was

Soccer Is A Marvelous Sport
Soccer is a marvelous sport. It is a sport that virtually all know about, no matter where they live. A
sport that began long ago and has continued on for decades. Even if it is less popular in some
countries, it still has one of the largest fan bases in the world. As Kress Estime says in her report on
soccer, Soccer is the most widely practiced sport in the world. It is played in over 200 countries and
has over 3.5 billion fans around the globe (Estime). Soccer has held this title for a long time and has
yet to lose it. Perhaps there is a reason that soccer has gained the most sizeable fanbase in the world?
The difficult objective is finding out what that exact reason is and why it has happened. Could it be
stereotypical? Could it be the drama that is included in it? Could it be emotion striking the people
down causing them fall victim to the enjoyment that soccer offers? Could it be the inspiration from
those who have played the sport before them? There is most certainly more than one answer to these
questions. The history of soccer also offers a possible solution to this mystery. Cliff Potter briefly
explains soccer s history in his article for the Bleacher Report. He states, However, the first
indications of an early formal form of football date back 3,000 years to Ancient China. A game played
with a ball of animal skins stuffed with hair or feathers was kicked between poles some 10 metres
high and was most likely used for military training. By 50 A.D., the game

Passion for College Students
Passion College Students for Their Schools College students traditionally show pride towards their
respective school. What makes students so enthusiastic for their school? In Laura Randall s Things
You Only Do in College and David Berreby s It Takes a Tribe both writers explore college culture but
come up with decidedly different results. Randall argues that college students traditions are
embarrassing to the university, and students should be focusing on schoolwork not traditions; but
Berreby suggests traditions are for the pride which students have for their school. In this essay I argue
that students are passionate for their school, and the traditions they participate in are for the pride they
have for the school. Randall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this quote he is saying there are many students who apply to colleges for name recognition.
However, when they get to the university or college they will participate in the traditions. Not every
student at Penn State knows the fight song or the alma mater. However, when they go to a football
game or any other sporting event they will be standing proudly singing that same fight song or alma
mater. Berreby states that They ll learn contempt for that rival university, Oklahoma to their Texas,
Sacramento State to their U.C. Davis, Annapolis to their West Point (Berreby, 207). This quote is
saying the students will also learn who the rival university is, and they will build a hatred for them,
and root against them every chance they get. He also talks about some of the bigger rivalries between
colleges. Oklahoma and Texas have been rivals for years, but in the public eye society view this
rivalry for sports. No one thinks about whose graduates succeed more after college. Society s views on
rivalries deal with sports, and college students live off their sports teams. If the teams do well then the
campus is always more lively, but if the teams lose there is a down feeling all throughout the campus.
For example, before Penn State played Michigan in football this year there was a huge anticipation for
the game. Most of my

The Causes And Consequences Of The General Strike In 1926
For a brief period after the First World War, Britain faced an economic boom. Workers were in a
strong position and businesses were optimistic, believing that world demand for British goods would
increase and trading would return to the success it had prior to the war. However, in 1920, Britain
experienced their worst economic slump in history. This was caused by a poor performance in foreign
markets due to the lack of reinvestment, modernisation in British industry and increased competition
abroad, especially from the USA and Germany.
In response to this slump, the Government tried to stabilise the British economy by reintroducing the

Therefore they were particularly disappointed and upset that the politicians had not done the things
they said they would. Miners who had carried on working in the mines during the First World War
enjoyed many improvements in their work. This was mainly because; the government took over
control of the mines. Wages were increased and standardised.
Before the war wages depended on how cheap and easy there work was at each individual mine,
therefore wages varied from mine to mine. Most miners hoped that all mines would remain
nationalised after the war; however in 1921 Lloyd George allowed the mines to go back into private
ownership. This was because the royal Commission couldn t agree on a suitable solution to the
problems in the coal mining industry. Most members agreed that mines being nationalised would be
the best idea but however this did not happen. For miners, the idea was not acceptable and should
have not been considered in the first place, they were already working in miserable conditions.
The government initially decided that the conflict between the mine owners and miners was none of
their concern. But in 1925, the Trade Union Congress became involved and threatened to lock out

Flon Disenfranchisement
There are currently only 2 states in the United states of America that has no restrictions on felon
voting rights Maine and Vermont and there are ten states, which includes Florida, Arizona, and
Delaware to name a few that does otherwise. A crime as little as theft can result to a person having one
less human right, which is the ability to vote. However, these laws are unjust; felon
disenfranchisement violates the eighth amendment and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Some felons
serve for a great amount of time that when they come back to the society a lot has changed to the
extent that they would be clueless on how to go about in it, such that new policies and norms are being

of the impact it will have politically because it shows the effect of what could have happened,

Risk Management Is A Essential Component Of Any Business
Risk Management is a vital component of any business, especially health care. Risk management can
be generally defined as recognizing, preventing, and monitoring situations that could result in injury
or liability, monetary loss, or noncompliance of regulations (Chubb Health Care, 2004, 9). In a basic
risk management system, risks are identified in separate risk area. Each risk area is handled by a
different department. It addresses the risks to an organization at the department level. In the basic risk
management system, the risks are evaluated at a reactive approach rather than a proactive approach. In

Significant risk events must be identified. The risks are analyzed based on impact and evaluated as an
inherent basis or a residual basis. Risk response is determined by the method that best fits the
organization s objectives and risk tolerances. This can be by avoidance, acceptance, reduction, or
sharing. The organization implements policies to respond to the risk and carry out the policy.
Communication of the risk and its response is timely and appropriately disseminated through the
organization. The ERM system allows for monitoring, updating, and maintaining through ongoing
evaluations of processes and policies (Brannan and Taylor, n.d).

appearance, but in personality as well. Mike Racette is a very smart and thoughtful man. He s always
eager to meet new people and share stories. My favorite example of this trait is the time we went to

about her and her family, and she even gave him an extra ticket to the fair that she had with her! While
he is very personable, Mike can also be described as someone who highly values time alone and

Essay Music Copyright
What is a Copyright?
Music Copyright is a very important aspect of the music industry. The Copyright law was established
to preserve the creativity and rights of authors, composers, performers of expression. Copyright is the
law that protects the property rights of the creator of an original work in a fixed tangible medium.
(http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/copyright) A fixed tangible medium is something substantial
like copying lyrics on paper or putting a song on tape or CD. Copyright can be seen every where in the
music industry. Many music artist of our culture today have been involved in copyright issues.

This establishes the artist as the creator of that work. It is not illegal for a person to write the symbol
on their work themselves. The correct way to place a copyright symbol on your original fixed tangible
medium is like this:
Copyright 2001 Aja Star Lane
For record companies it, looks like this:
2001 Virgin Records. All Rights Reserved. (http://askjeeves.com/copyright/html)
This states the day of creation of a musical work. If you do not have the money for the legal fees of
the federal copyright process yet, the first thing an artist should do with a musical work is the poor
mans copyright . Poor mans copyright is when the artist puts their fixed tangible medium in an
envelope with appropriate postage stamps and mails it back to themselves without opening it. This
postmark creates proof of the creator and is the date of creation for the musical work.
Why should an artist copyright an original work?
Copyrighting a musical expression just ensures that an artist is the creator of that work. There are a
couple of reasons why an artist should copyright their original works. The main one is the creator of a
work wants to be able to protect his or her work. Also, financial gain from suing. There would not be
any purpose in creating music without financial gain for some. If you live in the United States and
legally registered your musical works you have

The Mtbi Test, By Katharine Cook Briggs And Her Daughter...
Abstract The MTBI questionnaire, first published in 1943, was originally developed in the United
States by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers(The History of the MTBI
assessment, 2015). Through Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung and his theories about psychological types
motivated Myers Briggs to create the MTBI test. Through interpretation the MTBI test acts as a
guideline in determining a subject s perception of the world and psychological preferences. In this
paper the author will explain their own results from the MTBI test and go into greater detail whether
or not it accurately depicts their personality. This author will not only describe their personality type
but show the strengths and weakness of this particular personality. This author will also explain how
employers look at the MTBI test as a valuable tool in selecting great employees. Introduction Trait
theory is defined as The measurement of consistent patterns of habit in an individual s behavior,
thoughts, and emotions. The theory is based on the stability of traits over time, how they differ from
other individuals, and how they will influence human behavior (Trait Theory, 2015). Traits can be
considered as what makes a person who they are. Think of how a person would describe a person. For
example, this author describes their mother as loving, caring, and dependable, all these words would

around so that they could control others. It recurs throughout The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by
William Shakespeare, as well as in The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Even in modern
day, government control remains a significant part of life. For example, the SOPA bill arose in
Congress when the need for anti piracy protection became urgent or the USA admitting the Yemeni
dictator into one of its medical centers. It occurs from the 1500s in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet
to the 1800s in The Count of Monte Cristo and even modern day. Each government designs itself in a
way so that it functions with a united purpose to keep the human ... Show more content on

Napoleon puts himself into power after he successfully overthrows the king of France. The French
monarchy weakens day by day and thus, the Napoleon Empire quickly establishes itself in the
monarchy s place. Governmental control appears strongly when it just takes Villefort s signature to
throw an innocent person into jail. Dantes realizes this when he thinks: Villefort s change in
demeanour during the examination, the burning of the letter, the exacted oath, the magistrate s almost
supplicating voice which seemed to implore rather than to threaten, all passed through his mind
(Dumas 61). Once Dantes learns of Villefort s treachery, his personality completely turns around. An
innocent man should not be sent to jail because someone else chooses to cover his or her tracks and fix
his or her own problems. Governmental control has become corrupted and no longer functional. The
1800s style governments opened themselves to conflict; however, corruption prevailed. Modern day
differs greatly compared to previous centuries but the need for control has continued to live on.
Modern day has vastly improved its government over the previous centuries. However, society still
faces issues due to governmental control. A bill called SOPA tried to limit creativity on the Internet,
but classed as an anti piracy bill. The USA formerly debated on whether to admit a Yemeni dictator,
one who has killed thousands of the Yemeni people, into one of its medical centers.

Discovering Vinland in a Viking Age
Leif Eriksson Discovering Vinland in a Viking Age Every year during the second week of October,
while we enjoy in the celebrations of Columbus s day, most of us may have already forgotten the
existence of another holiday, called Leif Erikson Day, the holiday that US President often proclaim
and giving a speech to encourage people never stop discover new possibilities and appreciate to the
spirit of exploration. It makes us think of the Leif Erikson, one of the greatest medieval leaders who
composed an unbeatable chapter in global history. From the printed image, the U.S. commemorative
stamp issued on October 9, 1968, named Leif Erikson Day , his gallant shape along with his double
edged sword and rhombus shield, we can tell that Eriksson was the man and legendary explorer who
sailed toward an unknown region for his dream. Unlike most medieval kingships and emperors,
Eriksson was a tough man whose historical figure vividly portrayed Viking cultures. More
importantly, it represented another type of medieval leadership with an immortalized image of
humanity for new civilization and religion. Leif Erikson was born of Norwegian descent around 970
AD in Iceland. He was the second of three sons of Erik the Red, an ambitious Viking who established
a settlement in Greenland and named a lot of places he found along his voyage. (Phol 12) Erickson s
mother Thjodhild was an ordinary family woman. In contrast, Erickson s grandfather, Thorvald

Are White People Born Or The Color Of Their Skin
Imagine living everyday in paranoia knowing that everywhere you go and everything you do you re
being judged. If you walk into a convenience store or clothing store some people watch your every
move because they think you are going to steal something or you might have a gun under your shirt.
They think this because of how you dress, how you look or the color of your skin. People believe that
white people are better than other races, but that isn t true because they can t control how they were
born and the color of their skin. Racism also oppresses people by thinking they are not supposed to be

Consumer Behavior Handbook
Consumer Behavior Booking.com Understanding and acting upon consumer behavior is at the core of
becoming a successful retailer. Today s business environment is packed with competing firms, all
seeking to convenience customers to choose them over their competitors. Many industries, such as the
soda, cell phone, and washing detergent industry are dominated by a just a few or a sole firm.
Therefore, more than ever it is difficult to intervene in the habitual consumption of most consumers. A
consumer s buying process is what must be closely analyzed by any existing or new firm that is trying
to become competitive in today s business environment. A customer will have both utilitarian and
hedonic needs. Often companies will attempt to merge these two types of needs to create an all
encompassing experience. For example, the Wegmans store experience doesn t only satisfy the
utilitarian need of purchasing groceries, it also provides stimulation (an aspect of satisfying hedonic
needs) through visuals and well organized displays. Paying attention to such details and so creating a
multi dimensional experience creates a competitive advantage. Perhaps the most radical change in
consumer behavior happened when the new era of internet began and the way customer s search for
information and evaluate alternatives changed almost instantly. Today customers face the challenge of
being overwhelmed by information rather than not being able to access it. The internet has also
revolutionized

Megan McArdle states During the time when people are supposed to be learning to face an often hard
world as adults, and going through the often uncomfortable process of building their intellectual
foundations, they are demanding to be sheltered from anything that might challenge their beliefs or
recall unpleasant facts to their mind. If you are removed from anything that goes against your beliefs,
then you won t be able to adapt to the really world. The real world is all about adapting and learning

Though it shall be established in this write up that a link always exists between all the three types of
codes mentioned above for a text to be described as a system, it is paramount to view with a
magnifying glass on the inherent elements and value of the poem as the Structuralist suggested. In
Mending Wall, the intratextual code is recognisable in the aesthetic use of the word play
(paronomasia) in Where they have left no one stone on a stone and What I was walling in or walling
out . Principles of repetition are also used in Something there is that doesn t love a wall and Good
fences make good neighbours . One aspect of intratextual code is its advocation for recognition of
visible concrete features of a text. The use of the lyrical voice I and neighbour to draw closer to and
alienate the other from the reader strikes one as a code that demands recoding and overcoding.
Paradigmatic links in wall, hill, line and fences; loaves, balls, boulders and stone; hunters elves;
rabbits and yelping dogs call upon the reader to recode and overcode these signs to come with the real
meanings of the poem. However, the reader also has to be acquainted with the literally code employed
by the speaker to appreciate the inherent value of the poem, for example, the choice of diction,
semantic variations and form, and secondary modelling system

Catholic Church In Brazil Essay
The Catholic Church in Brazil did fill in for the State in ways such as creating laws for people to
follow, giving states rights to marry and rest from laborer on Sundays and Holy days. Although they
filled in for the state in many ways they also were not a complete State because the Church allowed
slavery and forced religion on people.
According to Slavery and Church Doctrine: The Archbishop of Bahia Rules on Slave Evangelization
and Aspects of Their Treatment (1707), the Brazilian Catholic Churches forced the slaves into
Catholicism. As a result, Catholic churches established a few rules that the people would follow. For
example, the Catholic Church made it a must that the slaves worship and do not work on Holy Days
and Sundays, also known as the Sabbath. As Brazilian slaves were thought to be the most in need of

This is an uncommon practice today because by ruling under religious laws not all of the rules for
people to follow may have been created in the best interest of every person under the Church s
governmental like rule. Also with a rule based on religious laws protesting any kind change in the law
would have been impossible for slaves with their already limited rights, attempting to modify any of
the laws already set by a religion would have been difficult to achieve. The Church was only very
unlike the state in the way that they did not stop slavery from happening. Many modern day states
have made it illegal to buy and sell slaves but the Brazilian Church did not do that for the slaves they
were evangelizing. Another arguable point that the Catholic Church in Brazil was not filling in for the
State is that they forced slaves to have a certain religion. While some States today do force their
citizens to affiliate themselves with a religion many governments have freedom of religion
contradictory to how the Catholic Church treated

A Comparison of Macbeth and Hamlet MACBETH stands in contrast throughout with Hamlet; in the
manner of opening more especially. In the latter, there is a gradual ascent from the simplest forms of

passion: in the former, the invocation is at once made to the imagination and the emotions connected

affected bravado in confronting them. In all the rest, Macbeth s language is the grave utterance of the
very heart, conscience sick, even to the last faintings of moral death. It is the same in all the other
characters. The variety arises from rage, caused ever and anon by disruption of anxious thought, and
the quick transition of fear into it.
In Hamlet and Macbeth the scene opens with superstition; but, in each it is not merely different, but
opposite. In the first it is connected with the best and holiest feelings; in the second with the shadowy,
turbulent, and unsanctified cravings of the individual will. Nor is the purpose the same; in the one the
object is to excite, whilst in the other it is to mark a mind already excited. Superstition, of one sort or
another, is natural to victorious generals; the instances are too notorious to need mentioning. There is

the food industry in the past century, as another substitute to conventional foods that is seen in the

Regardless of the price, there is a rising market for organic food, even though the technique used has
made the price significantly higher then that of normal conventional foods. There are many questions
on why people would purchase organic over traditional foods, and it is apparent that the price does not

I Find The Sport Of The Hoofball Game Last Night
So, you watch the hoofball game last night? No. I find the sport to be repugnant and vapid. Oh,
Captain Bronze Lance said. He was having a rough week. After being grilled by the Royal Sisters
about bachelors in the Royal Guard which was quite possibly the most awkward conversation he had
ever had the Princesses went missing, which sent the palace guards into panic. One moment, they
were having tea in one of the castle s sitting rooms, and the next, they were gone. Nearly five dozen
guards discreetly scoured the castle grounds all day, trying to prevent the inevitable hysteria that
would break out if Their Highnesses disappeared. Hours later, in the middle of the night, the Two
Sisters walked into the kitchen asking for a snack as if nothing had happened. The reports detailing
that situation took Captain Lance hours to complete, and he made sure to bury them deep, deep within
the castle s archives. Once this week was over, he never wanted to talk about it again. But right now,
he was awkwardly sitting beside Celestia s royal scheduling advisor, Kibitz, waiting for the Princesses
to arrive. Do you think they re running late? The scheduled time was five minutes ago. Bronze said.
Without turning his head, Kibitz dryly replied, Captain, the Princesses are never running late, other
ponies are simply running early. Oh, Bronze said, looking down at his hooves. It was unusual for
Celestia and Luna to arrange meetings with such short notice, but usual days were

Changing Structure of Watch Industry
SWISS WATCH MARKET
In 1970s the Swiss industry produced around 75 million units per year as compared to 25 million units
in 1940s.
Since 1966, when the Swiss Government s restriction on sale and acquisition of watch companies
lapsed, the industry experienced a crescendo of mergers, bringing down the number of firms to around
1000.
In 1971, ASUAG , the super trust combined the assembling firms selling seven different brands into
the General Watch Holding Company. This move forged important new financial and managerial links
between the component manufacturing and assembling sectors of the watch industry.
By 1971 almost three quarters of all Swiss watch exports were accounted for by eight watch making

manufacturing industry. In fact, only two U.S. watch companies, Bulova and Timex, were involved in
any domestic watch production.
Since the beginning, U.S. companies have struggled to cope with the labour requirements of
watchmaking.
Some U.S. watch sellers never tried; from the start imported finished watches or movements and
simply put them in watch cases here. Other firms tackled the problem by locating at least part of their
production overseas. Bulova and Gruen, for example, established their own manufacturing plants in
Switzerland in the early years of the 1980s.
After the Second World, jeweled lever watches dominated the U.S. market.
Then during the 1950s and early 1960s the situation changed drastically. Timex first stormed the low
price end of the watch market and later moved up into the middle price range. At the same time
marginal Swiss producers flooded the U.S. market with inexpensive pin lever and jeweled lever
watches making price competition all the more severe.
In 1960s the Japanese began to carve out their piece of the U.S. market. On top of this, the mass
merchandising revolution of the 1950s threw the traditional watch distribution system, sales through
jewelers and fine department stores, into chaos. To survive in a market dominated by price
competition, one after another U.S. watch company gave up on domestic watch manufacturing until,
by 1970 there were only two survivors Bulova and Timex.
Throughout the 1960s and into

medical marijuana can help treat illnesses. For medical marijuana we basically use THC and CBD

THC me also decrease pain inflammation and muscle control problems. Also a cannabinoid known as

The United States Department Of Labor
The use of contingent workers is an ever increasing practice in today s business world. The United
States Department of Labor (2013) views the same as both sound advancement and reason for worry.
This paper will explore the history, theories, implications for leaders, and relative trends of this class
of workers.
Businessdictionary.com (2015) states that a contingent worker is a Temporary employee who is (1)
hired for contingent work, (2) paid according to hours worked, and (3) draws no benefits that are
commonly available to the regular employees . The contingent workforce consists of temporary, part
time, independent contractors, seasonal, college interns, and leased workers. Often confusion is
present in labeling employees and independent contractors accurately. According to the IRS (2015) an
individual is an independent contractor if the payer has the right to control or direct only the result of
the work and not what will be done and how it will be done. Under common law rules, anyone who
performs services for you is your employee if you can control what will be done and how it will be
done (IRS, 2015).
The employing of contingent workers is an intentional business decision by companies. The search for
greater flexibility, in terms of numbers of employees and in terms of the skills those employees
possess, is the main reason reported by companies for the increasing use of contingent workers. (Daly,
2013) According to the Department of Labor (2015), employers

Allegory:
Objects that have emotional or symbolic meaning. From the grape soda button that Ellie uses to show
that one is initiated in the same adventurers club to Russell s merit badges to the Book of Adventure to
the house signifies symbolic meanings throughout the course of the story. E.g. The pin convey the
weight of emotional value as it s passed on from Ellie to Carl and then from Carl to Russell. The bottle
cap represents a dream shared and is yet to be fulfilled

There is a spatial metaphor that seems to be reflected in the title of the movie. All things that are UP in

Why Funding For Public Education
When it comes to education, it is generally agreed that money matters. What is not as apparent are
questions like: In what ways does money matter? How does money impact the achievement and
opportunities of the students? Are there predictable affects of increasing or decreasing spending in a
school system? These questions are important for a number of reasons. Funding for public education
is a limited resource and knowing how to utilize those limited funds efficiently and effectively is a
goal school administrators seek to achieve. There is also the issue of equality. Since a significant
portion of a school s budget is allocated through the local tax base, school districts may have more or
less funding available to them depending on which community they are located in. If school spending
is tied to student performance or opportunities, and different school systems have different levels of
funds available to them, then it can be said that educational opportunities for students will be different
depending on which school district they belong to. In an attempt to seek the connections between
money and education, I will look at three research papers which investigates this matter.
The first paper is The Cost Effectiveness of 22 Approaches for Raising Student Achievement, by
Stuart Yeh. This meta study looks at the various methods/interventions employed by school systems to
help students raise their level of achievement, its effectiveness and the associated cost of such

Reading Philosophy
Reading Philosophy
In order for a child to excel in school they need to be well versed in reading therefore; I believe that it
is vital for all children to learn to read. Not only should reading be a fun and enjoyable experience but
something that influences the child to succeed in all subject areas. Reading is an integral part of life
that needs to be mastered. A child can master the basics of reading in the early years and should be
learned at that time due to the aggravation and frustration of learning those skills later on, as he/she
gets older. Although there are many children and adults alike that hate to read it is our job to spark an
interest in these children so they will find reading enjoyable. All of the aspects of ... Show more

Also, phonics instruction is essential when a child is learning to read for the very first time. Again,
research shows us that in order for our children to read and benefit from phonics the child must have
phonemic awareness. Fluency is another factor that comes into play because when students struggle to
read they have trouble comprehending the text. Fluency is accomplished only when a child practices
constantly so he/she can become proficient

Slime Persuasive Essay
I ll be right over. I excitedly told Carly over the phone. Mom I m going to Carly s to make slime! I
yelled from my room. BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM. Four stomps boomed from the ceiling, my
queue to go upstairs. Coming I screamed. I bounded up the stairs into my mom s room. I m going to
Carly s. I repeated.
Ok she advised Bring your brother s bike and be home by 6:30.
Ok, thank you, bye Mom, love you! I hollered, already down the hall towards the door. I scooped up
the ingredients to make the slime, put it in my backpack, and ran out to get my bike. I opened the
garage door and scooted my brother s big blue bike onto the driveway. I hopped on and was on my
way the half mile to Carly s house. I was SO excited to make slime! Slime ... Show more content on

Next, I grabbed a mixing utensil and went to town on the mixture. Once I finished mixing, Carly was
already behind me with some pink food coloring. She lightly squeezed the container, bright red liquid
came bursting forth from the bottle. Carly missed the bowl and got some on the counter, but there was
already shaving cream everywhere so, I didn t say anything. After I stirred the slime again, I put a
pinch of corn starch and some contact solution into the mixture. It was now time for my favorite part,
the glitter! We poured a ton of glitter into the pink slime. Then, we mixed it and then kneaded it to fine
dough. Finally, it was time to play.
Carly and I squished, squashed, and scrunched our pink glitter slime.
Cassidy, catch. She told me, and I did. We threw our slime around for about 5 minuets. Until Carly
chucked the slime at me and instead of landing in my hands, it hit the ceiling. Carly and I couldn t stop
laughing. We laughed until the slime fell down. When it did it was surprisingly as hard as a rock.
Why is it so hard? I asked Carly
Oh She surprised turned to laughter again We added to much corn starch. Now the slime is hard! Then
we started laughing again, passing the pink glittering rock around like before.
We were having so much fun, I didn t notice the clock. 6:27!
Oh no I franticly started packing my stuff. I have to be home at 6:30. Sorry Carly, thanks for making
slime with me. Bye, see you tomorrow! I yelled

LAW575 Contract Paper
Contract Paper Danny Davidson sold a single family home to Paul and Priscilla Peterson. A long term
relationship between Danny and Paul is the basis for not including a written agreement. The simple
contract was made orally and only included the legal object and the amount to be paid. Danny did not
disclose a dispute with his neighbor over boundary lines or include information about a soil
subsidence in the front yard he claims not to have known about. Contract Elements Four elements are
necessary for a contract to exist. According to Kubasek et al., (2012) These elements are the
agreement, the consideration, contractual capacity, and a legal object, (p. 304). The agreement consists
of an offer from one party and an acceptance from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Paul and Priscilla were going to make changes to the property it is their responsibility to make sure
the property is in proper condition to accommodate those changes. The bathroom additions and
landscaping were not part of the original agreement and Danny cannot be held reasonably liable for
not predicting what changes the Petersons would make to the property. Danny may use lack of proper
form as a defense against breach of contract. The objective theory of contracts means we base the
existence of a contract on the parties outward manifestations of intent and we base its interpretation on
how a reasonable person would interpret it, (Kubasek et al., 2012, p. 306). A reasonable person may
assume that the buyer of the house was planning on living in it and possibly making alterations to the
house. It is not reasonable to assume that immediate upgrades will be made or that expansion of the
home will be done if the buyer does not state this intent or state issues with the current condition of
the home. Danny did not partake in landscaping and is not an expert or professional in the field so it
would not be reasonable to assume he was aware of the soil issues. Remedies Paul and Priscilla may
have include compensatory damages, nominal damages, punitive damages, liquidated damages,
rescission and restitution, specific performance, or injunction. Some form of damages or rescission

Voluntary Vs Involuntary Action
Non voluntary and involuntary actions differ by the presence of compulsion and ignorance according
to The Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle. Moments of action that are governed by compelling and
threatening situations coupled with an ignorant state of mind forcibly causes one to act in an
unorthodox manner. Aforesaid actions are distinguished as involuntary actions, further, the individual
must be made aware of their wicked act. Non voluntary actions portray the same traits except, the
individual does not recognize the wickedness of his actions after the fact and maintains an ignorant
mindset thus not experiencing any remorse. Therefore, one can induct that the distinguishing factors
between the involuntary and non voluntary action is the presence ... Show more content on

To be cognizant and to act in total ignorance is to be wicked, as Aristotle proclaims every wicked man
is ignorant (III.I.1110b 28). However, it is mentioned that ignorant behaviours (as they are deemed
involuntary) are excusable, does this give appropriate reason for the wicked to be pardoned? An
alternative interpretation is that perhaps Aristotle means to exemplify that ignorance in its particulars
of actions are to be overlooked if the end goal was attempting to seek good. Due to the fact that all
human actions ultimately aim towards good. It is solely the presence of ignorance that inhibits one
from acting with complete merit, as ignorance is found only within the particulars of a circumstance.
Particulars such as, the circumstances of the action and the objects with which it is concerned .(III.I
1111a 1) Though it is not easy to weigh a man s pardon upon dependant particulars, one must analyze
the case and value which particulars merit a pardon. Furthermore, as the reader, I struggle to
comprehend whether a pardon is dependant upon the circumstantial objects or rather circumstances of
the action and its end . (III.2 111a 18 19) Moreover, if a wicked man seeks good, but his actions
convey otherwise, ought he be pardoned for the misinterpretation of his means to obtain his end goal
that is of good? Aristotle analyzes topics relative to action, ignorance and compulsion; certain
explanations are enlightening while

Analysis Of Gryphon By Charles Baxter
Gryphon is an thrilling fiction story by the funny author Charles Baxter. The story take place in a
classroom in Five Oaks, Michigan and is about an ordinary 6th grade boy, Tommy who encounters a
strange sub named Ms. Ferenczi. The message that Charles Baxter is giving us is that everyone is
different and nothing is wrong with that. Firstly, Ms. Ferenczi doesn t act like the other substitute
teachers in rural Michigan throughout the text. For example, Ms. Ferenczi prefers to eat with the kids
over eating with the teachers in the teachers lounge. Ms. Ferenczi strongly argues That s fine, ... But I
shall continue to eat here, with you children. I prefer it, (p. 51 lines 265 267). This shows that Ms.
Ferenczi makes different choices

Lottery Essay Symbolism
Symbolism Essay Symbolism is a sign that has been used by literary authors to represent a larger idea
into another more specific concept or belief. Symbolism can be used to represent an action, an idea or
a person s archetype as well. The term symbolism is the practice of representing things by symbols, or
of investing in things with a symbolic meaning or character ( Symbolism ). Examples of symbolism
are: an eagle representing freedom, a dove representing peace, and the color green can symbolize the
feeling of envy. The following pieces of literature, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, We Wear the Mask
by Paul Laurence, Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson, and Mirror by Sylvia Plath are all
poems that use symbolism. The story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stones symbolize unity of the town but also symbolizes a murder weapon. At the end of the story,
it is surprising to see that someone is truly chosen to die through this lottery. A critic states, The story
shocks us because we do not like to admit a demonic side to our natures. The story suggests that
basically we are beasts, ... that we can slip back to barbarism hardly batting an eye (Evans).
Concerning this quote, all of the people of the town are so fixated on this tradition that they cannot
even see the madness in what they are doing. Every year each family is eager to participate. The
society represents an example of naturalism. Furthermore, in We Wear the Mask , Paul Laurence talks
about the different ways all types of feelings and emotions can be hidden. Every person in the world
has some sort of hidden struggle or triumph. A mask is used to hide what everyone wants kept in the
dark. A mask symbolizes protection and disguise. In fact, Laurence states, We wear the mask that grins
and lies, It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes (Line 1). Through the quote, the author explains that
no matter what people portray to the world, a mask covers what truly lies within. Sometimes others
have an understandable explanation for the front they put up. A critic suggests, This debt we pay to
human guile; / With torn and bleeding hearts we smile, / And mouth with myriad subtleties (

Information Security And Network Security
In information security, computer security and network security an Asset is any data, device, or other
component of the environment that supports information related activities. Assets generally include
hardware (servers and switches), software (e.g. mission critical applications and support systems) and
confidential information. Assets should be protected from illicit access, use, disclosure, alteration,

or small companies and have many different ways of protecting one s information.
It is quite common to find many individuals involved in compromising a company s intellectual
property. Suspects would most likely be a current/former employee, trusted customers, or competitors.

to securing intellectual Property is management structure. This will guarantee that your Intellectual
Property will run with a few protection measures implemented. The second step is Operational

existing hiring and departure policies for employees. The third and final step to securing intellectual
property is Cyber security. This will put a stop to network intrusion, safeguard mobile device security,
and remote access security. Protecting a company s intellectual property is very important.

At the time of January 1, 1848, inventory, Minerva was not yet Owen s wife and neither of them had
any children (p.28). Walker s parents were 38 years of age at the time of her birth. She was born a free
child on her family s small shack and rented plot of ground on a plantation in a village called Delta
located in Madison Parish, Louisiana. Walker was born just four years after the Emancipation
Proclamation was declared to free all persons held as slaves free. She was also born during a time of
political upheaval where newly black delegates for the Louisiana Constitutional Convention would
introduce civil rights legislation to outlaw segregation on public property. On December 31, eight days
after Sarah s birth, Pickney B.S. Pinchback, another black delegate who would later serve as acting
lieutenant governor of the state, introduced civil rights legislation outlawing segregation on trains, on
ferries and in public places (p.31). Following that, the Knights of the White Camellia would strike
back to the equality with other races with violence and intimidation. Fortunately, Madison Parish,
Louisiana was not as exposed to the severe violence of this organization due to the small town and
federal troops located nearby in Vicksburg (p.31). In addition, the times were dangerous but little
walker would soon grow to know of the dangers that surrounded the post slavery time period. The

Achieving High School Goals
Have you ever wondered about how you ll graduate high school? If you attend college, or go traveling
around the world instead? I know I do, a lot. I especially think about what strengths I will need in
order to take part in college and achieve my goal of being an architect. However, I can tell that my
abilities of getting work done and learn new things quickly will lead me to graduating high school
with a 4.0 grade point average and attending Stanford college which will let me access my dream job
or becoming an architect. But before I can go to Stanford, I first have to work on my skills.
The skills I need to achieve my goals are; getting my work done fast and learning new things quickly.
If I get my work done fast it will help me achieve my high school goals of getting good grades, joining
sports teams and socially interacting with others and here s why. First of all, getting my work done
fast can result in having a lot of extra free time to do things like hanging out with friends and doing
extra curriculum activities like sports. Second of all, if I get all my work done quickly i ll have
everything turned in resulting with a good grade, maybe even a 4.0 grade point average. My other skill

be higher. When I play and practice my sports i ll then be able to socially interact with people that I
would never envision hanging out with. For example; People from all different friend groups come
and play all together so i ll be able to meet them and probably become friends with them. Also when I
compete with other teams I will be able to meet them and maybe even get to know them a

  • 2. Compare And Contrast The Indian Camp And The Doctor s Wife Ernest Hemingway was a writer who captured the spirit of his generation. Hemingway wrote The Indian Camp and The Doctor and the Doctor s Wife . Indian Camp is a story about a boy named Nick and his father who went to the Indian Camp to help deliver the baby. While there they witnessed the baby s father commit suicide. This sparked Nick s curiosity with death. Both stories detail Nick s coming of age into adulthood. In the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife Nick s father wants Dick, Eddy, and Billy to go cut up the wood that is on the beach but Dick tries to tell him that it would by considered stealing because the logs belong to the Magic crew. An Indian woman had been in labor for 2 days, and was in pain and screaming. While the woman helped her the men went off. The man had moved off up the road to sit in the dark and smoke out of range of the noise she made. (92) This is sexism because they left the women to care for the Indian woman that was having a baby. They think it is for women to care for her and did not help at all. Instead they tried to go far away so they didn t even have to listen to her pain. Also sexism is in the article Forget the Legend and Read the Work by Margaret Bauer. Therefore not only do I not dispute the opinion that the woman in labor is a mere prop in Indian Camp, but also I defend Hemingway s using her as a vehicle toward Nick s potential development and a means of revealing Nick s fathers callousness. Discussing the issue that women in much of Hemingway s work are not very important of and by themselves (Bauer 2). In the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife, sexism is portrayed by Hemingway when he describes the interaction between the wife and the doctor. He leaves her without answering her questions and goes off to hunt with his son. Hemingway can be determined as a sexist by the way he portrays the women in his stories as weak and inferior to men. Some people believe that sexism was part of Hemingway s life because he was married 4 times and had many mistresses and because of this and the way that he writes he is viewed as a sexist. An example of masculinity versus femininity in the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife is shown when the doctor is cleaning his shot gun and the wife says you didn t say anything to anger him did you? and the doctor replies no . This implies that the wife is weak because she does not want a confrontation. Nick chooses to go with his father because he wants to be seen as a man and like his father. The doctor wants to feel like a tough man but walks away from Dick s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the micro level to the macro level globalization has transformed the world into a smaller place with constant interactions occurring at every moment between nations, institutions, groups, and individuals. And with this prevalent interconnectivity, migration between the Global North and the Global South has been a controversial consequence of this global integration (Hinojosa, 2015). For this reason one cannot ignore the importance and impact of migrant populations in the country they settle in, and in the countries of origin. Mexican and Central American populations in California have become essential to the economy of their home country, state, and municipality. Through the transfer of remittances the inflow of money has become an important component of local economies, playing key roles in economic advancement (Delgado and Marquez, 2009; Faist 2008). The Mexican foreign born population in California is more than 4 million, and the Salvadoran population is 677,000 (Mejia and Johnson, 2014; Brown and Patten, 2013). Even if it is less popular in some countries, it still has one of the largest fan bases in the world. As Kress Estime says in her report on soccer, Soccer is the most widely practiced sport in the world. It is played in over 200 countries and has over 3.5 billion fans around the globe (Estime). Soccer has held this title for a long time and has yet to lose it. Perhaps there is a reason that soccer has gained the most sizeable fanbase in the world? The difficult objective is finding out what that exact reason is and why it has happened. Could it be stereotypical? Could it be the drama that is included in it? Could it be emotion striking the people down causing them fall victim to the enjoyment that soccer offers? Could it be the inspiration from those who have played the sport before them? There is most certainly more than one answer to these questions. The history of soccer also offers a possible solution to this mystery. Cliff Potter briefly explains soccer s history in his article for the Bleacher Report. He states, However, the first indications of an early formal form of football date back 3,000 years to Ancient China. • 18. Government Control Throughout Literary Works Governmental control surrounds society daily and has been around for centuries. Governments came around so that they could control others. It recurs throughout The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, as well as in The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Even in modern day, government control remains a significant part of life. For example, the SOPA bill arose in Congress when the need for anti piracy protection became urgent or the USA admitting the Yemeni dictator into one of its medical centers. It occurs from the 1500s in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet to the 1800s in The Count of Monte Cristo and even modern day. Napoleon puts himself into power after he successfully overthrows the king of France. The French monarchy weakens day by day and thus, the Napoleon Empire quickly establishes itself in the monarchy s place. Governmental control appears strongly when it just takes Villefort s signature to throw an innocent person into jail. Dantes realizes this when he thinks: Villefort s change in demeanour during the examination, the burning of the letter, the exacted oath, the magistrate s almost supplicating voice which seemed to implore rather than to threaten, all passed through his mind (Dumas 61). Once Dantes learns of Villefort s treachery, his personality completely turns around. An innocent man should not be sent to jail because someone else chooses to cover his or her tracks and fix his or her own problems. Governmental control has become corrupted and no longer functional. The 1800s style governments opened themselves to conflict; however, corruption prevailed. Modern day differs greatly compared to previous centuries but the need for control has continued to live on. Modern day has vastly improved its government over the previous centuries. However, society still faces issues due to governmental control. Discovering Vinland in a Viking Age Leif Eriksson Discovering Vinland in a Viking Age Every year during the second week of October, while we enjoy in the celebrations of Columbus s day, most of us may have already forgotten the existence of another holiday, called Leif Erikson Day, the holiday that US President often proclaim and giving a speech to encourage people never stop discover new possibilities and appreciate to the spirit of exploration. It makes us think of the Leif Erikson, one of the greatest medieval leaders who composed an unbeatable chapter in global history. From the printed image, the U.S. commemorative stamp issued on October 9, 1968, named Leif Erikson Day , his gallant shape along with his double edged sword and rhombus shield, we can tell that Eriksson was the man and legendary explorer who sailed toward an unknown region for his dream. Unlike most medieval kingships and emperors, Eriksson was a tough man whose historical figure vividly portrayed Viking cultures. More importantly, it represented another type of medieval leadership with an immortalized image of humanity for new civilization and religion. Leif Erikson was born of Norwegian descent around 970 AD in Iceland. He was the second of three sons of Erik the Red, an ambitious Viking who established a settlement in Greenland and named a lot of places he found along his voyage. Today s business environment is packed with competing firms, all seeking to convenience customers to choose them over their competitors. Many industries, such as the soda, cell phone, and washing detergent industry are dominated by a just a few or a sole firm. Therefore, more than ever it is difficult to intervene in the habitual consumption of most consumers. A consumer s buying process is what must be closely analyzed by any existing or new firm that is trying to become competitive in today s business environment. A customer will have both utilitarian and hedonic needs. Often companies will attempt to merge these two types of needs to create an all encompassing experience. For example, the Wegmans store experience doesn t only satisfy the utilitarian need of purchasing groceries, it also provides stimulation (an aspect of satisfying hedonic needs) through visuals and well organized displays. Paying attention to such details and so creating a multi dimensional experience creates a competitive advantage. Perhaps the most radical change in consumer behavior happened when the new era of internet began and the way customer s search for information and evaluate alternatives changed almost instantly. In Mending Wall, the intratextual code is recognisable in the aesthetic use of the word play (paronomasia) in Where they have left no one stone on a stone and What I was walling in or walling out . Principles of repetition are also used in Something there is that doesn t love a wall and Good fences make good neighbours . Catholic Church In Brazil Essay The Catholic Church in Brazil did fill in for the State in ways such as creating laws for people to follow, giving states rights to marry and rest from laborer on Sundays and Holy days. Although they filled in for the state in many ways they also were not a complete State because the Church allowed slavery and forced religion on people. According to Slavery and Church Doctrine: The Archbishop of Bahia Rules on Slave Evangelization and Aspects of Their Treatment (1707), the Brazilian Catholic Churches forced the slaves into Catholicism. As a result, Catholic churches established a few rules that the people would follow. The Church was only very unlike the state in the way that they did not stop slavery from happening. Many modern day states have made it illegal to buy and sell slaves but the Brazilian Church did not do that for the slaves they were evangelizing. In fact, only two U.S. watch companies, Bulova and Timex, were involved in any domestic watch production. Since the beginning, U.S. companies have struggled to cope with the labour requirements of watchmaking. Some U.S. watch sellers never tried; from the start imported finished watches or movements and simply put them in watch cases here. Other firms tackled the problem by locating at least part of their production overseas. Bulova and Gruen, for example, established their own manufacturing plants in Switzerland in the early years of the 1980s. After the Second World, jeweled lever watches dominated the U.S. market. Then during the 1950s and early 1960s the situation changed drastically. Timex first stormed the low price end of the watch market and later moved up into the middle price range. At the same time marginal Swiss producers flooded the U.S. market with inexpensive pin lever and jeweled lever watches making price competition all the more severe. In 1960s the Japanese began to carve out their piece of the U.S. market. On top of this, the mass merchandising revolution of the 1950s threw the traditional watch distribution system, sales through jewelers and fine department stores, into chaos. Under common law rules, anyone who performs services for you is your employee if you can control what will be done and how it will be done (IRS, 2015). The employing of contingent workers is an intentional business decision by companies. The search for greater flexibility, in terms of numbers of employees and in terms of the skills those employees possess, is the main reason reported by companies for the increasing use of contingent workers. • 40. Why Funding For Public Education When it comes to education, it is generally agreed that money matters. What is not as apparent are questions like: In what ways does money matter? How does money impact the achievement and opportunities of the students? Are there predictable affects of increasing or decreasing spending in a school system? These questions are important for a number of reasons. Funding for public education is a limited resource and knowing how to utilize those limited funds efficiently and effectively is a goal school administrators seek to achieve. There is also the issue of equality. Since a significant portion of a school s budget is allocated through the local tax base, school districts may have more or less funding available to them depending on which community they are located in. If school spending is tied to student performance or opportunities, and different school systems have different levels of funds available to them, then it can be said that educational opportunities for students will be different depending on which school district they belong to. In an attempt to seek the connections between money and education, I will look at three research papers which investigates this matter. The first paper is The Cost Effectiveness of 22 Approaches for Raising Student Achievement, by Stuart Yeh. This meta study looks at the various methods/interventions employed by school systems to help students raise their level of achievement, its effectiveness and the associated cost of such ... An alternative interpretation is that perhaps Aristotle means to exemplify that ignorance in its particulars of actions are to be overlooked if the end goal was attempting to seek good. Due to the fact that all human actions ultimately aim towards good. It is solely the presence of ignorance that inhibits one from acting with complete merit, as ignorance is found only within the particulars of a circumstance.
