The results showed that 75.8% (288 subjects) of students held positive attitudes towards medical
ethics (with a mean and standard deviation of 4.500± 0.73). The highest and lowest values of attitudes
towards medical ethics belonged to the principle of beneficence (with a mean and standard deviation
of 4.62± 0.67) and the principle of justice (with a mean and standard deviation of 4.29± 0.80),

There s no difference between the quite ruthless intervention of international capital into foreign
markets these days than there was in the old days, when they were backed up by gunboats.... The
world is divided between the rich, who get richer, and the poor, who get poorer, and the rich get richer
on the backs of the poor. That division hasn t changed for about 500 years, (Pilger, John). This quote
sums up the book New Rulers of the World by John Pilger. It talks about the new global economy and
shows us that divisions between the poor and the rich have never been more obvious. This book also
talks about how the media and journalists are corrupt and only talk about what will make them big
money, leaving out the actual truth behind the stories. Pilger based this book on the impact of
globalisation in Indonesia, where the World Bank described it as a model pupil until it s what was
known as globalised economy collapsed in 1998. Since then, globalisation has made the world
smaller. But not only has globalisation made the world smaller, it has made it interdependent.
Globalization may seem like a good idea, get your products out there, make a lot of money, but it is
really hurting our world as a whole and making it virtually smaller . Throughout the book, Pilger
examines sweatshops of famous name brands around the world. Then the questions start flowing out:
Who are the real beneficiaries of this globalized economy? Who actually rules the world now? Is it
governments or handfuls of gigantic companies? It is proven that the Ford Motor company by itself is
bigger than the whole economy of South Africa and that Bill Gates is richer and has a greater wealth
than all of Africa alone! Pilger pretends to be a buyer so he can infiltrate the Indonesian GAP and Old
Navy sweatshops to interview the workers. He found that the wages of the workers could be doubled
if brands like Nike would just raise their shoe prices a measly 40 cents. Pilger states: Nike workers get
about 4% of the retail price of the shoes they make, which is not enough to buy the laces, (Pilger, John
