How Does the United Nations Support Environmental...
Introduction
About the United Nations
The United Nations is an international organization, which was founded in 1945 after the Second
World War, committed to providing the means to help resolve international conflicts and formulate
policies on matters affecting human beings all over the world (Wikipedia). The organization is
committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among
nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights (Wikipedia). Ensuring
environmental sustainability , climate change being one of the major factors, is one of the millennium
development goals of the UN. The United Nations Environment Programme, UNEP, along with many
organizations/agencies under the UN, collaboratively work towards achieving this goal.
About the Chosen Aspect of Study
How does the United Nations support the millennium development goal of promoting environmental
sustainability by limiting climate change in South and North America? This investigation shall focus
on the previously mentioned question as this a very interesting topic to further research on, also as I
believe that the UN has played an enormous role in promoting environmental sustainability in South
and North America, and therefore would make a good topic to further research on. This topic is
worthy of studying as by knowing of what many before us have done to protect and sustain the
environment, we can look into aiding the environment to a

The Positive Effects Of Retainment
There have been many studies performed in recent years over the effects of retainment. The reasoning
behind why a student is being retained can be a big deciding factor on whether it will end with success
or not. When a child is behind their peers because of age or numerous absences, retainment is an
option for them. At an older level, kids have a higher rate of success than those who have been
retained (Davis School District, 2011). When repeating a grade, they can have success the next year,
and can gain more confidence. However, retainment works best for students when at a young, lower
elementary age. Research has shown that retaining a student can often point them in a negative
direction. Students can experience bad impacts in all areas

En Masse Retraction
ENMASSE RETRACTION WookHeo, Dong SeokNahm, and Seung HakBaek (2007)32performed
study to compare the amount of anchorage loss of the maxillary posterior teeth and amountof
retraction of the maxillary anterior teeth between en masse retraction and two step retraction of the
anterior teeth.30 female adult patients with Class I malocclusion and lip protrusion were included in
the study. The sample was subdivided into group 1 (en masse retraction) and group 2 (two step
retraction). Lateral cephalograms were taken before (T1) and after treatment (T2). Nine skeletal and
10 anchorage variables were measured, and independent t test was used for statistical analysis. The
amount of horizontal retraction of the maxillary anterior teeth was not different between the two
groups, there was mild labial movement of the root apices of the upper incisors in group 2 at T2. No
significant difference in the degree of anchorage loss of the maxillary posterior teeth was observed
between the two groups. Bodily and mesial movements of the upper molars occurred in both groups. A
4 mm of the retraction of the upper incisal edges resulted from 1 mm of anchorage loss in the upper
molars in both groups. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fifty two patients were included in study. On panoramic radiographs, root shortening of the maxillary
and mandibular incisors was evaluated. Radiographs were taken before and after space closure, and

measurements caused by panoramic radiographs. It was observed that there is no difference in the
amount of root shortening between two space closure

Comparing James and Jung s Perspectives on Religious...
1. Are the perspectives on religious experience presented in William James Varieties and in Jung
compatible? Briefly explain and compare them.
For William James, his perspective on religious experience was skeptical. He divided religion between
institutional religion and personal religion. For institutional religion he made reference to the religious
group or organization that plays a critical part in the culture of a society. Personal religion he defined
as when an individual has a mystical experience which can occur regardless of the culture. James was
more focused on the personal religious experience, the feelings, acts, and experiences of individual
men in their solitude, so far as they apprehend themselves to stand in ... Show more content on

Central to Jung s process of finding one s innate potential was the idea of the numinous. This is
characterized by the power or presence of a divinity. This was closely related to the idea of
synchronicity, which is when two or more events that seem to be unrelated occur together in a
meaningful way, and would be unlikely to occur by chance.
Jung s idea of experiences of synchronicity included the presence of archetypes. An archetype is an
ideal example or model person that others copy or base their actions upon. Jung had archetypes such
as the animus, the anima, and the shadow. The animus is expressed as a masculine inner personality in
females, while the anima is expressed as a feminine inner personality in males. The shadow archetype
consists of repressed shortcomings, weaknesses, and instincts. These archetypes are of the collective
unconscious, and not based on people in their daily lives.
While there are some similarities between James and Jung s views on religious experience, there is
also a great deal of opposing views. James was focused on the mystic experience of religion as a
personal one and was not in favor of organized religion. Jung on the other hand, studied many
organized religions and believed that an institutional setting was beneficial in finding one s innate
potential. Clearly, they both believed that there was a definite psychological factor in religion, but
James had a personal psychological

The History of Rent
Land has been necessary for human survival since early civilization. Man has used rent in order to
produce vital items for survival. Land has served as the backbone for producing clothing, food, and a
place of living. We may take advantage of these commodities that wouldn t have been possible if it
wasn t for land. Land holds great contribution to humankind and has played a great part in many
generations before us. The hunter gatherer role is a simple example of how man has used land as a tool
for his own growth. Rent was created out of the need for land. Rent has been around before any
economic theory was used to theorize it. The Latin word rendita was used to refer to a return (Keiper,
1961, p.3). The first theory of rent was seen in the late seventeenth century. The mercantilist
economists created some central theories to theorize rent even though it wasn t one of their more
important worries. The history of the theory of rent can start with the mercantilists. Sir William Petty,
one of the first major contributors to the mercantilists theory of rent, can accredit a lot of his work to
the influences of Thomas Hobbes. His first major contribution in 1662, A Treatise on Taxes and
Contributions, refers to rent as a net return on land used for livestock and agriculture. He explains:
Suppose a man could with his own hands plant a certain scope of land with corn, that is, could dig, or
plough, harrow, weed, reap, carry home, thresh, and winnow so much as the husbandry of this

Age Of Art Research Paper
The Age of Art What happened in 1930? Several well known events took place in that time. The great
depression, the age of art, the Nobel Prize, and different types of films and superhero comics had been
written. Today I m presenting the age of art, print, film and radio. First I will explain print. During the
1930s was the great depression as well. American writers responded to this problem with multiple
stories. Some wrote about the social change, and some the American suffrage. Others documented and
decided to try and understand the nation in crises, but with a bleak view of it. These stories had totally
opposite vantage points. But with one thing in common. They all had the urge to describe the
American experience. Others felt something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Film was also known as movies. During the depression, directors and some actors brainstormed for
film to make, trying to stay off the street. Warner Brothers made self conscious movies, which became
quickly famous. Such as Heroes for Sale, and They won t Forget. Paramount was known to have
stylish witty projects, such as Cleopatra starring Cecil B. DeMilles, and the Angel starring Ernst
Lubitsch and Marlene Dietrich. Another director named Metro Goldwyn Mayer was a master with
writing screwball comedies and also light thrillers; they are The Thin Man, and Frankenstein. That
people have loved so much, we still watch them today. Different varieties were coming out during this
terrible time in history. So under studio system, people distributed films from A B movies. The A
movies were big budget star studded features, but the B movies were more cheapie films. And every
week a B film went out, it was a fifty/ fifty whether it would be a hit. They were often used though for
experiments and were aimed for the smaller audiences. During this hard times like war, or for this
instance the great depression people needed to be entertained. And in 1930 was no exception. The
people loved several forms of entertainment, particularly if it s inexpensively. With the addition of
sound, films became extremely popular. Comedies, gangster movies, and musicals helped people to

Definition Essay About Words
Each word has a meaning. A word is a name we give things so we can call it something. The definition
of a word according to the dictionary is noun. a single distinct meaningful element of speech or
writing, used with others or sometimes alone to form a sentence and typically shown with a space on
either side when written or printed. To break down, or to simplify what that definition means is, a
more technical meaning. This definition is saying that thing, that a english essay was made up of has
spaces in between all those letters that are crammed together.
When you think about it everything we say is consisted of words. Its how we talk, in any language ,no
matter what language. When you speak your first word it s usually celebrated. This is because it s just
one accomplishment that pushes you into joining our society. The most common first word is Dada .

Although they are a huge positive resource to civilization there is a downfall. For example Mother
Teresa once said kind words are short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. what she
was saying is that yes words are good but, like the game telephone that most people have played in
their youth; they can be repeated twisted or changed for bad and/or evil. They can start out good but
then change or become evil. Same way opposite though; they could start out evil and then change
good. Another quote from an unknown source is that words are free. Its how you use them, that may
cost you. this quote relates to the previous quote to an extent. But also adds in that you can say any
word you want. There is nothing stopping you from speaking unless you are being physically kept
from speaking or have a disability that does not allow you to do so. If you do decide to use any word
and that word or language causes harm to others there might be conceived that come with those words

The Financial Performance And Condition Of The Porsche Se...
When we think about Porches, we think about beautiful, high performance, sports cars. Porches
started in a small workshop in Gmund, Austria, where the first sports car was released in June of 1948.
Since then Porsche has grown into a thriving company that is associated with the beautiful sports cars
they produce. Porsche SE Group is an automobile manufacturing company that produces vehicles
under the Porsche brand and also produces a variety of brands that fall under the Volkswagen umbrella
of the company. Porsche s has grown into one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world.
Throughout this paper, we will assess the financial performance and condition of the Porsche SE
Group, as well as, providing an analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
(SWOT) in relation to this company. In addition, company decisions will be analyzed for quality.
Also, a few recommendations for improving the company will be provided. Porsche was founded in
1930 by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche as an automotive design and engineering company (Funding Universe,
ND.). He had a reputation to be one for designing innovative cars and even attacked the attention of
Aldof Hitler. There was soon a collaboration between Porsche and Hitler, which resulted in the 1939
production of the Type 60 KdF Wagen (Price, 2006, p58). The car designed by Porsche was known as
the people s car , rather than a Volkswagen, however the car was called the Beetle by the German

Comparing Canadian Federal Political Parties
The social media campaigns of the Canadian Federal Political Parties (Liberal, Conservative, and
NDP) have been compared to one another in an attempt to understand their choices made to persuade
audiences to take part in actively addressing and supporting their campaigns. Concepts discussed
throughout this course have been applied to the three varying campaigns, including attention, earned
media, branding, spreadability, intended audience, tone, navigation, and participation. These aspects
have been prominent in all three social media campaigns and thus, have been chosen for this case
analysis. Repurposing All three Political Parties post statuses and advertisements in English and
French. This dualism that they demonstrate is done to target both, Anglophones and Francophones and
reach a wider audience. This choice of theirs plays on the concept of repurposing for different
cultures. Another aspect of repurposing focuses on altering the campaign to match different seasons,
time periods as holidays and events differ. Keeping this element of repurposing in mind, the Liberal
party posted an image in the celebration of International Women s Day. The image consists of many
women holding their hands and giving the Liberals a thumbs up to support this cause and a quote
saying, Canada needs more women from diverse backgrounds making decisions in Ottawa. Because
when women succeed, we all succeed. The Conservatives did not use repurposing in any way to
support this event.

Analyzing Peter s Cognitive Dissonance Theory
No one enjoys being told what they are doing is wrong, and in this specific case that they are stealing.
Peter explains to Joanna that his business has been rounding certain amounts to take fractions of a
penny from compounded interests and then they placed the dropped remainder in an account they
own. By using the Cognitive Dissonance Theory, I will analyze this artifact and incorporate how this
theory is intertwined within the conversation between the characters Joanna and Peter. I will show
how Peter uses selective exposure, post decision dissonance, and two of the three parts of the state of
the art revisions to reduce his dissonance. Cognitive Dissonance is a distressing mental state caused by

Classifications Of The Overachievers And Academicly...
School is a melting pot of people. Everyone is different, which means that everyone has different ways
of learning. Although different, there are similarities among students which leads them to fit into three
different classifications. These three classifications are the overachievers, academically average
students, and the underachievers or slackers. Admittedly, these categories are heavily influenced by
media s portrayal of different students but can still be useful when evaluating what kind of person
each student is. The first classification of the different type of students is the overachievers. These
students are sometimes called goody two shoes or know it alls. These are the students that are
motivated, persistent, dedicated, and responsible. The overachievers are usually the ones found
studying the most. They are also the ones who usually sits in front of the class and participates the
most. They are the first ones to raise their hand to answer a question and since they usually know the
answers to most questions in class, they are the ones that are approached by other students who are
seeking answers themselves. Other students believe that overachievers make those students that are
not overachieving not capable of anything. Overachievers are the students who are the most prepared,
has higher grades in classes, and never really get in trouble. These students are the ones that
everybody has high standards for and is predicted to be the most successful in life.

Gender Roles In Lillie Devereux Blake s Fettered For Life
In nineteenth century America, there were strict gender roles and expectations that men and women
were expected to conform to. Men were seen as dominant to women; while men were able to work
and drink, women were expected to get married, follow orders from her husband, and live a life of
limited freedom and personal choice. We see examples of these roles throughout Lillie Devereux
Blake s novel, Fettered for Life, as we encounter different women in the text that are oppressed
through physical abuse and lack of agency. However, Frank Heywood, the woman, manages to
outsmart these rules by cross dressing to be a man. She s the only female in the novel to break free of
the slavery of womanhood, and in the process uses her newfound freedom to act as a voice for the
oppressed female population. Not only does Frank aid women and their oppression, but she also
proves that women can do the work of a man, but are denied opportunities because of their sex. Blake
uses Frank s character to demonstrate the ways in which gender roles are socially constructed, and
prove that it s possible to break through the implemented social rules. Our first encounter of Frank, in
the opening scene, leads us to notice something different about him. Reporting for the New York
Trumpeter in the courtroom during Laura s trial, Blake describes him as having dark ernest eyes, with
a strange expression lurking in their depths, an indefinable something hard to interpret...a look as of
perpetual unrest, of

learnt a bit more about Chinese traditions and their beliefs and through this book I could say that it
was funny and suspending at the same time. I loved the plot as well; especially the part where in the

the crime was not foreseeable. It came totally out of the blue for me, it wasn t one of those read the

Microsoft s Surface Line
On Monday, September 23, Microsoft unveiled a new line of products to cater to the Surface Line.
The keynote presentation was not a way for Microsoft to impress everyone, but to adjust and improve
the mistakes they made with their previous product. Ultimately, it resulted in a boost of sales. Last
year s Surface models, the first ever consumer hardware released by Microsoft, were flops with
software bugs, hardware issues, and terrible battery life. It ruined the entire experience of what
Microsoft had envisioned. This year, Microsoft released the Surface 2 (previously named Surface RT),
Surface Pro 2, and a load of accessories. The original Surface RT was supposed to be a competitor
against the tablet giant, iPad. However, it lacked a lot features that were important for users. Windows
RT 8 was supposed to be a low powered version of Windows, eliminating the need to download third
party apps from the internet. With a very poor list of apps for selection, the Surface RT didn t appeal to
many users. On the hardware standpoint, it was beautifully designed but had no way of adjusting the
kickstand. Basically, it was a joke for using on your lap. With Surface 2, Microsoft does not hope to
compete, but rather aims to refine the Surface RT model. Surface 2 fixes all its hardware problems
allowing users two modes that would work on your desk and lap. Microsoft will be releasing it with
Windows RT 8.1, which is a major improvement. Windows RT 8.1, however, still does not fix the

Laser hair removal procedure only works during the growing stage. About 20 percent of your hair is in
the actively growing stage. That is why people need to have between three to six treatments to make
sure all the hair in a specific area has been removed. You will have smooth, hair free skin for months,
and in some cases a year or more. Much of the hair will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pigment in the hair absorbs the heat and causes the follicle to be destroyed. When this happens,
the follicle is no longer able to grow hair. The laser only targets the hair follicle and not the
surrounding skin. After the recommended number of treatments, you will start to see a reduction in
hair growth in the treated area. Since it is the melanin or pigment that the laser heats, it may not be
effective on white, light gray and light blond hair.
Our trained technicians will discuss several plans with you to make sure your laser hair removal is
safe and comfortable. You plan will take into consideration your skin tone, amount of suntan, hair
thickness and hair color. You may feel a slight warming of the treatment area, but the laser has a built
in cooling tip.
For at least four weeks before treatment, you shouldn t wax, use depilatories, bleach or pluck the hair
in the area you want to have treated. Shaving is all right because it doesn t affect the follicle. After the
treatment, the affected area may feel slightly sunburned. You can put cold compresses on the area and
take an over the counter anti inflammatory if required. You shouldn t expose the area to direct sunlight
for at least two weeks and use sunblock of SPF30 for four weeks. The hair will gradually fall out

Los Angeles, Five High Schools Essay
Throughout many cities, in specifically Los Angeles, five high schools were faced with
discrimination. Lincoln, Garfield, Wilson, Belmont, Roosevelt high schools was targeted in many
racist ways. These high schools had restricted rules towards students. Majority of the student
populations in these schools were Latinxs. They faced problems that were not as necessary
problematic. According to Jose Angel Gutierrez, English was the only language allowed spoken in the
classroom and schoolyard. Severe punishment awaited the bold who uttered their native Spanish
language within earshot of school officials (2). Students were forbidden to speak Spanish during
school hours. Students were forbidden from using the bathroom, especially during lunchtime. Students
were denied to be taught their Mexican American history. Students were mostly being led into the
labor industry instead of going to college and getting a degree. According to E. Esparza (2006), We
had a huge conference that summer of 1967, in which college students there were a couple of hundred
came together from throughout Southern California. It was basically almost everyone who was in
college then, because there was less than 2% of all Chicanos that even enrolled in college . Students
were discriminated by many teachers and administrators. Administrators were not responsible and
repeatedly called out, leaving small staff to teach the students. Students did not only receive these
discriminatory actions, they also

The Five Stages In The Development Of Human Growth And...
While reading through Chapter 1, there were a lot of eye openers. While reading, the realization of
important factors that determines what kind of adult a child will be. Two developments of human
growth are Continuous and Discontinuous. Continuous Development is the process in which there is
gradual improvement through systematic exercise, and Discontinuous Development is based off the
stepping stones of infant through adulthood human growth (Woolfolk Perry, 2015). These are
characterized by the qualitative differences in behavior. As children grow from prenatal, ages 0 to 2
years old, to becoming an adolescence, 11 and above, they can learn and better understand what is
going on in the world around them, which in turn teaches a life lesson. There are 5 stages in the
development of life for a human. The five stages are prenatal (conception to birth), infancy (birth to 2
years), early childhood (ages 2 to 6), middle childhood (ages six to eleven), and adolescence (11 and
up). Throughout each stage, there are new developments that take place in a child s life. Many factors
go into growth development and how a child will turn out as an adult, including but not limited to,
social skills, sociodemographic, ethnicity and culture, adoption or biological, protection and risk,
health, corporal punishment, environmental, parental/sibling relationships, risk taking, and self
regulation (Shriver, 2014). As a parent, I never realized how many factors that there are, yet my family

Reflection On The Dubuque Community Ymca
At my very first swimming lesson it was scary being thrown into something that was so unfamiliar!
But despite my fear, I swam across the entire pool all on my own and I was actually pretty good. I was
encouraged by great Y staff to keep swimming, and shortly thereafter, I ended up joining the Y s swim
team. Being a Y kid growing up, I have experienced firsthand the type of impact the Dubuque
Community YMCA/YWACA has on its young members. After graduating from college with a degree
in Nonprofit Administration, I jumped at the opportunity to join the staff here. I am currently the
Aquatics Director Associate Youth Sports Director. My main goal is to ensure that activities are

Christian Response To Black Death
Christian and Muslim responses to the Black Death were different but had some similarities like what
caused the plague and how to prevent to plague. I am going to be talking about the differences
between the two. There are three reason why they are different cause and explanations, responses by
the living, and general context of the plague. The next paragraph will be talking about the context of
the plague.
In this paragraph I will be discussing the general context of the Black Death. The plague is believed to
have been caused by fleas on rats. There are three different types of plague bubonic, pneumonic, and
septicemic. Even though all bad septicemic is the worst because it affected the bloodstream. The
second to worst is the pneumonic it affects the respiratory system which killed most of the victims.
Then there is the bubonic plague which is the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Muslims believe overpopulation, abundance of shooting stars, warm ovens , evil fairies, and
alcohol and prostitution. Prevention are different as well for example. Christians would build fire to
purify the air, live in a house that faced north, covered windows in wax cloth, avoid sleeping on back
those are a few things on how they prevent the plague. The Muslims have different ways they prevent
the plague like eat pickled onions, pumpkin seeds and sour juices, they passed laws against alcohol
and prostitution, avoid sad talk and use letter magic. Next are how they both respond to the Black
Death.
The Muslims believed the Black Death was a gift from God they did not look at it look as punishment
like the christians did. The Christians would for pray god to stop punishing them with the Black
Death. The Muslims were the complete opposite they thought the plague was a Blessing of God. So
the Muslims are accepting of the plague more than the Christians are. All of this leads to the next and
final paragraph the

Analysis Of Omer Bartov s Hitler s Army
Omer Bartov s book Hitler s Army takes an interesting look into the social constructs of the
Wehrmacht during World War II. Bartov proposes a question of was the Wehrmacht Hitler s Army. By
that they mean did the soldiers of the Wehrmacht believe in Nazi ideology and what they were told
they were fighting for, or were they simply soldiers fighting because they were told too. Bartov s
ultimate answer is yes they are loyal to Hitler and his ideology, and he is eventually correct. After
training a generation mentally and physically from the age of ten through Hitler Youth programs the
Wehrmacht became Hitler s Army and their blind loyalty distorted their morality to carrying out war
crimes when believed to be necessary. He reaches this conclusion by analyzing the Wehrmacht s time
in Russia and how that devastating campaign effected the enlisted soldiers. He finds that the only way
the Wehrmacht s moral even survived this was their warped mentality and cohesion between the
soldiers due to harsh discipline. In chapter one Bartov tackles the issue of the modernization and
structure of the Wehrmacht. Bartov walks the reader through the unsuspected events the Wehrmacht
faced when it entered Russia. When the Wehrmacht invaded Russia their tanks were outnumbered five
to one. It was hard to understand how the Wehrmacht lost so many men when the Wehrmacht made
the French army crumble in six weeks. It seemed that everyone, even the Allied powers, had greatly
underestimated the power of

Who Is Cool Hand Luke As A Christ Figure
Luke as a Christ Figure In literature, it s not uncommon for authors to create a character who parallels
Christ himself. In Cool Hand Luke, directed by Stuart Rosenberg, starring Paul Newman, George
Kennedy, Strother Martin, and J.D. Cannon, the protagonist Luke is shown as a Christ figure. The film
begins with Luke being arrested on account of being intoxicated and vandalizing parking meters. He s
taken to a prison in the South where his non conformist ideals automatically disagree with the strict
rules and authority. While serving his two year sentence working in a chain gang, Luke manages to
gain the respect of the other prisoners. He s given the nickname Cool Hand Luke after he wins a card
game from convincing the men he has valuable cards, even though he really has nothing. After the
death of his mom, Luke goes against authority and makes his first attempt at escaping. He s brought
back, however, and shortly after the audience is able to see his refusal to conform when ... Show more

Throughout Cool Hand Luke, Luke is shown to be a non conformist. When sent to prison, Luke is
placed in an isolated environment with strict rules, guards, and regimentation and his fiercely
individualistic spirit immediately clashes ( Cool Hand Luke (1967). ). Luke s non conformist attitude
is what drives him to escape so many times he s a rebel at heart, and refuses to adapt to the prison
environment. Luke not only rebels against big things such as prison authority, but small, insignificant
things as well. Even Luke s eating habits are distinctively non conformist he takes a bite and leaves
the spoon sticking out of his mouth ( Cool Hand Luke (1967). ). No matter what he s doing, even if it s
something as simple as eating, Luke finds a way to rebel against it. This character trait of Luke s
proves the Christ figure archetype because of his refusal to conform, and his tendency to go against

Anne Rice Pride Theme
Pride is the parent of destruction; pride eats the mind and the heart and the soul alive. Anne Rice. In
this story we learn how ruthless pride can be on oneself and how it pushes you to do things that are
terrible. The victim of pride here is the narrator who has a brother named Doodle that was born
disabled so the narrator does everything in his power to make Doodle normal even if it means death.
In fact death of Doodle is the result we get and it is the narrator s fault because he overworked him, he
left him in the storm, and the fact that he never even loved Doodle in the first place. One of the
reasons the narrator was responsible for killing Doodle was because he overworked him. The narrator
didn t want a brother that couldn t do what others could do so he worked and worked him until he
couldn t take it any longer. When the narrator says I made him swim until he turned blue and row until
he couldn t lift an oar (357). It shows that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Doodle was first born in fact the narrator says It was bad enough having an invalid brother, but
having one who possibly was not all there was unbearable, so I began to make plans to kill him by
smothering him with a pillow (350). Which is crazy and cold hearted seeing how just because
someone is born different they should still be treated like anyone else but the narrator just saw him as
a pest to society. Later in the story the narrator works Doodle over the limit and though he knows
Doodle is fragile he doesn t seem to care whether anything happens to Doodle just as long as he doesn
t have an invalid brother. Such uncaring statements like ¨Shut up. I´m not going to hurt you. I´m going
to teach you to walk¨, Hurst(354). Shows that he doesn t care about the well being of Doodle. At the
end he was angry Doodle wasn t good enough and ran not caring that Doodle might be

One of the many disadvantages of being a game warden is everyone that you meet has a firearm on
them and you might be the only other warden working in a set zone. Also working in all sorts of
weather conditions, dangerous wildlife, and lower salaries compared to other LEOs.(8) Wardens will
be asked to work in all different seasons from fishing season in the spring to hunting season in the fall.
Many of the older wardens may struggle, but are still very able bodies. With the younger wardens you
need to be very fit and able body. If I achieve the position of a fish and game warden it would be very
disheartening when you would have to euthanize animals that humans have kept as pets but I
understand that it is all part of the job. I would also love when we would successfully rehabilitate an
animal. Depending on your state and the department will depend of vacation time some is 2 weeks or
so. There are approximately 8000 people employed as a fish and game warden in the United States.(7)
The outlook for fish and game warden jobs have stated steady since 2004.(12) Openings for fish and
game wardens have decreased by 2.70% nationwide in that time, with an average decline of 0.45% per

filled by 2018. This represents an annual increase of

Carnival Cruise Lines Case Study
Another corporation that turned into a learning organization is Carnival Cruise Lines, after the Costa
Concordia accident. There are several mistakes that occurred in succession to cause the events to
unfold as they did. The captain s first decision was to get close to the shore of Giglio as a salute to the
island, something that he had successfully accomplished several times. This would have been another
successful salute, but the Costa Concordia was moving too fast for getting so close to shore. While the
captain had consulted radar and maps, he seems to have been navigating based on what he could
actually observe by looking, which was his second mistake. His third error was something that many
people do: he was talking on the phone while driving. The captain s next mistake came out of
confusion, perhaps due to the bottle of wine he consumed with dinner. He began his turn away from
the shore by calculating the distance from a set of rocks that lay about 900 yards off the harbor. He did
not see another rock that was even closer. It was not until they had turned that he saw the huge rock
below them. He ordered another turn, this time away from the rock. The bow and midsection cleared
the rock, but the stern hit the rocks. The problem was that I went to starboard trying to avoid it, and
that was the mistake, because I should not have gone starboard, Schettino told prosecutors. I made an
imprudent decision. Nothing would have happened if I had not set the

Introduction About the United Nations The United Nations is an international organization, which was founded in 1945 after the Second World War, committed to providing the means to help resolve international conflicts and formulate policies on matters affecting human beings all over the world (Wikipedia). The organization is committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights (Wikipedia). Ensuring environmental sustainability , climate change being one of the major factors, is one of the millennium development goals of the UN. The United Nations Environment Programme, UNEP, along with many organizations/agencies under the UN, collaboratively work towards achieving this goal. About the Chosen Aspect of Study How does the United Nations support the millennium development goal of promoting environmental sustainability by limiting climate change in South and North America? This investigation shall focus on the previously mentioned question as this a very interesting topic to further research on, also as I believe that the UN has played an enormous role in promoting environmental sustainability in South and North America, and therefore would make a good topic to further research on. This topic is worthy of studying as by knowing of what many before us have done to protect and sustain the environment, we can look into aiding the environment to a ... • 3. The Positive Effects Of Retainment There have been many studies performed in recent years over the effects of retainment. The reasoning behind why a student is being retained can be a big deciding factor on whether it will end with success or not. When a child is behind their peers because of age or numerous absences, retainment is an option for them. At an older level, kids have a higher rate of success than those who have been retained (Davis School District, 2011). When repeating a grade, they can have success the next year, and can gain more confidence. However, retainment works best for students when at a young, lower elementary age. Research has shown that retaining a student can often point them in a negative direction. Students can experience bad impacts in all areas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

En Masse Retraction ENMASSE RETRACTION WookHeo, Dong SeokNahm, and Seung HakBaek (2007)32performed study to compare the amount of anchorage loss of the maxillary posterior teeth and amountof retraction of the maxillary anterior teeth between en masse retraction and two step retraction of the anterior teeth.30 female adult patients with Class I malocclusion and lip protrusion were included in the study. The sample was subdivided into group 1 (en masse retraction) and group 2 (two step retraction). Lateral cephalograms were taken before (T1) and after treatment (T2). Nine skeletal and 10 anchorage variables were measured, and independent t test was used for statistical analysis. The amount of horizontal retraction of the maxillary anterior teeth was not different between the two groups, there was mild labial movement of the root apices of the upper incisors in group 2 at T2. No significant difference in the degree of anchorage loss of the maxillary posterior teeth was observed between the two groups. Bodily and mesial movements of the upper molars occurred in both groups. A 4 mm of the retraction of the upper incisal edges resulted from 1 mm of anchorage loss in the upper molars in both groups. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Comparing James and Jung s Perspectives on Religious... 1. Are the perspectives on religious experience presented in William James Varieties and in Jung compatible? Briefly explain and compare them. For William James, his perspective on religious experience was skeptical. He divided religion between institutional religion and personal religion. For institutional religion he made reference to the religious group or organization that plays a critical part in the culture of a society. Personal religion he defined as when an individual has a mystical experience which can occur regardless of the culture. James was more focused on the personal religious experience, the feelings, acts, and experiences of individual men in their solitude, so far as they apprehend themselves to stand in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Central to Jung s process of finding one s innate potential was the idea of the numinous. This is characterized by the power or presence of a divinity. This was closely related to the idea of synchronicity, which is when two or more events that seem to be unrelated occur together in a meaningful way, and would be unlikely to occur by chance. Jung s idea of experiences of synchronicity included the presence of archetypes. An archetype is an ideal example or model person that others copy or base their actions upon. Jung had archetypes such as the animus, the anima, and the shadow. The animus is expressed as a masculine inner personality in females, while the anima is expressed as a feminine inner personality in males. The shadow archetype consists of repressed shortcomings, weaknesses, and instincts. These archetypes are of the collective unconscious, and not based on people in their daily lives. While there are some similarities between James and Jung s views on religious experience, there is also a great deal of opposing views. James was focused on the mystic experience of religion as a personal one and was not in favor of organized religion. Jung on the other hand, studied many organized religions and believed that an institutional setting was beneficial in finding one s innate potential. Clearly, they both believed that there was a definite psychological factor in religion, but James had a personal psychological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The History of Rent Land has been necessary for human survival since early civilization. Man has used rent in order to produce vital items for survival. Land has served as the backbone for producing clothing, food, and a place of living. We may take advantage of these commodities that wouldn t have been possible if it wasn t for land. Land holds great contribution to humankind and has played a great part in many generations before us. The hunter gatherer role is a simple example of how man has used land as a tool for his own growth. Rent was created out of the need for land. Rent has been around before any economic theory was used to theorize it. The Latin word rendita was used to refer to a return (Keiper, 1961, p.3). The first theory of rent was seen in the late seventeenth century. The mercantilist economists created some central theories to theorize rent even though it wasn t one of their more important worries. The history of the theory of rent can start with the mercantilists. Sir William Petty, one of the first major contributors to the mercantilists theory of rent, can accredit a lot of his work to the influences of Thomas Hobbes. His first major contribution in 1662, A Treatise on Taxes and Contributions, refers to rent as a net return on land used for livestock and agriculture. He explains: Suppose a man could with his own hands plant a certain scope of land with corn, that is, could dig, or plough, harrow, weed, reap, carry home, thresh, and winnow so much as the husbandry of this ... The great depression, the age of art, the Nobel Prize, and different types of films and superhero comics had been written. Today I m presenting the age of art, print, film and radio. First I will explain print. During the 1930s was the great depression as well. American writers responded to this problem with multiple stories. Some wrote about the social change, and some the American suffrage. Others documented and decided to try and understand the nation in crises, but with a bleak view of it. These stories had totally opposite vantage points. But with one thing in common. They all had the urge to describe the American experience. Others felt something ... Warner Brothers made self conscious movies, which became quickly famous. Such as Heroes for Sale, and They won t Forget. Paramount was known to have stylish witty projects, such as Cleopatra starring Cecil B. DeMilles, and the Angel starring Ernst Lubitsch and Marlene Dietrich. Another director named Metro Goldwyn Mayer was a master with writing screwball comedies and also light thrillers; they are The Thin Man, and Frankenstein. That people have loved so much, we still watch them today. Different varieties were coming out during this terrible time in history. So under studio system, people distributed films from A B movies. The A movies were big budget star studded features, but the B movies were more cheapie films. And every week a B film went out, it was a fifty/ fifty whether it would be a hit. They were often used though for experiments and were aimed for the smaller audiences. During this hard times like war, or for this instance the great depression people needed to be entertained. And in 1930 was no exception. The people loved several forms of entertainment, particularly if it s inexpensively. With the addition of sound, films became extremely popular. • 10. Comparing Canadian Federal Political Parties The social media campaigns of the Canadian Federal Political Parties (Liberal, Conservative, and NDP) have been compared to one another in an attempt to understand their choices made to persuade audiences to take part in actively addressing and supporting their campaigns. Concepts discussed throughout this course have been applied to the three varying campaigns, including attention, earned media, branding, spreadability, intended audience, tone, navigation, and participation. These aspects have been prominent in all three social media campaigns and thus, have been chosen for this case analysis. Repurposing All three Political Parties post statuses and advertisements in English and French. This dualism that they demonstrate is done to target both, Anglophones and Francophones and reach a wider audience. This choice of theirs plays on the concept of repurposing for different cultures. Another aspect of repurposing focuses on altering the campaign to match different seasons, time periods as holidays and events differ. Keeping this element of repurposing in mind, the Liberal party posted an image in the celebration of International Women s Day. The image consists of many women holding their hands and giving the Liberals a thumbs up to support this cause and a quote saying, Canada needs more women from diverse backgrounds making decisions in Ottawa. Because when women succeed, we all succeed. The Conservatives did not use repurposing in any way to support this event. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Classifications Of The Overachievers And Academicly... School is a melting pot of people. Everyone is different, which means that everyone has different ways of learning. Although different, there are similarities among students which leads them to fit into three different classifications. These three classifications are the overachievers, academically average students, and the underachievers or slackers. Admittedly, these categories are heavily influenced by media s portrayal of different students but can still be useful when evaluating what kind of person each student is. The first classification of the different type of students is the overachievers. These students are sometimes called goody two shoes or know it alls. These are the students that are motivated, persistent, dedicated, and responsible. The overachievers are usually the ones found studying the most. They are also the ones who usually sits in front of the class and participates the most. They are the first ones to raise their hand to answer a question and since they usually know the answers to most questions in class, they are the ones that are approached by other students who are seeking answers themselves. Other students believe that overachievers make those students that are not overachieving not capable of anything. • 13. Gender Roles In Lillie Devereux Blake s Fettered For Life In nineteenth century America, there were strict gender roles and expectations that men and women were expected to conform to. Men were seen as dominant to women; while men were able to work and drink, women were expected to get married, follow orders from her husband, and live a life of limited freedom and personal choice. We see examples of these roles throughout Lillie Devereux Blake s novel, Fettered for Life, as we encounter different women in the text that are oppressed through physical abuse and lack of agency. However, Frank Heywood, the woman, manages to outsmart these rules by cross dressing to be a man. She s the only female in the novel to break free of the slavery of womanhood, and in the process uses her newfound freedom to act as a voice for the oppressed female population. Not only does Frank aid women and their oppression, but she also proves that women can do the work of a man, but are denied opportunities because of their sex. Blake uses Frank s character to demonstrate the ways in which gender roles are socially constructed, and prove that it s possible to break through the implemented social rules. Our first encounter of Frank, in the opening scene, leads us to notice something different about him. Reporting for the New York Trumpeter in the courtroom during Laura s trial, Blake describes him as having dark ernest eyes, with a strange expression lurking in their depths, an indefinable something hard to interpret...a look as of perpetual unrest, of ... I found this book very interesting because it was a crime and investigation novel, not only that. It opened up more Chinese knowledge for me. I learnt a bit more about Chinese traditions and their beliefs and through this book I could say that it was funny and suspending at the same time. I loved the plot as well; especially the part where in the end we find out that the survivor who got shot in the chest was actually the whole mastermind behind the crime was not foreseeable. It came totally out of the blue for me, it wasn t one of those read the beginning of the book and then you could guess the rest of the story type, it kept me guessing the whole way through the story. So I really enjoyed this book. But the worst part about it was the ending, where the United States government allowed this to happen secretly in its waters so that it could have a better relationship with China is just absurd, they need a better ... • 19. Microsoft s Surface Line On Monday, September 23, Microsoft unveiled a new line of products to cater to the Surface Line. The keynote presentation was not a way for Microsoft to impress everyone, but to adjust and improve the mistakes they made with their previous product. Ultimately, it resulted in a boost of sales. Last year s Surface models, the first ever consumer hardware released by Microsoft, were flops with software bugs, hardware issues, and terrible battery life. It ruined the entire experience of what Microsoft had envisioned. This year, Microsoft released the Surface 2 (previously named Surface RT), Surface Pro 2, and a load of accessories. The original Surface RT was supposed to be a competitor against the tablet giant, iPad. However, it lacked a lot features that were important for users. Windows RT 8 was supposed to be a low powered version of Windows, eliminating the need to download third party apps from the internet. With a very poor list of apps for selection, the Surface RT didn t appeal to many users. On the hardware standpoint, it was beautifully designed but had no way of adjusting the kickstand. Basically, it was a joke for using on your lap. With Surface 2, Microsoft does not hope to compete, but rather aims to refine the Surface RT model. Surface 2 fixes all its hardware problems allowing users two modes that would work on your desk and lap. Microsoft will be releasing it with Windows RT 8.1, which is a major improvement. Windows RT 8.1, however, still does not fix the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Analysis Of Omer Bartov s Hitler s Army Omer Bartov s book Hitler s Army takes an interesting look into the social constructs of the Wehrmacht during World War II. Bartov proposes a question of was the Wehrmacht Hitler s Army. By that they mean did the soldiers of the Wehrmacht believe in Nazi ideology and what they were told they were fighting for, or were they simply soldiers fighting because they were told too. Bartov s ultimate answer is yes they are loyal to Hitler and his ideology, and he is eventually correct. After training a generation mentally and physically from the age of ten through Hitler Youth programs the Wehrmacht became Hitler s Army and their blind loyalty distorted their morality to carrying out war crimes when believed to be necessary. He reaches this conclusion by analyzing the Wehrmacht s time in Russia and how that devastating campaign effected the enlisted soldiers. He finds that the only way the Wehrmacht s moral even survived this was their warped mentality and cohesion between the soldiers due to harsh discipline. In chapter one Bartov tackles the issue of the modernization and structure of the Wehrmacht. Bartov walks the reader through the unsuspected events the Wehrmacht faced when it entered Russia. When the Wehrmacht invaded Russia their tanks were outnumbered five to one. It was hard to understand how the Wehrmacht lost so many men when the Wehrmacht made the French army crumble in six weeks. It seemed that everyone, even the Allied powers, had greatly underestimated the power of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are several mistakes that occurred in succession to cause the events to unfold as they did. The captain s first decision was to get close to the shore of Giglio as a salute to the island, something that he had successfully accomplished several times. This would have been another successful salute, but the Costa Concordia was moving too fast for getting so close to shore. While the captain had consulted radar and maps, he seems to have been navigating based on what he could actually observe by looking, which was his second mistake. His third error was something that many people do: he was talking on the phone while driving. The captain s next mistake came out of confusion, perhaps due to the bottle of wine he consumed with dinner. He began his turn away from the shore by calculating the distance from a set of rocks that lay about 900 yards off the harbor. He did not see another rock that was even closer. It was not until they had turned that he saw the huge rock below them. He ordered another turn, this time away from the rock. The bow and midsection cleared the rock, but the stern hit the rocks.
