Symptoms And Treatment Of Acute Coronary Syndrome
CLINICAL CLARIFICATION Acute coronary syndrome refers to several potentially life threatening
conditions associated with acute myocardial ischemia and/or infarction most commonly resulting from
a sudden decrease in coronary blood flow8, 2 Includes ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI),
non ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), and unstable angina CLASSIFICATION Based on
electrocardiogram (ECG) 8 ○ Acute chest pain and persistent ( 20 min) ST segment elevation Defined
as ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (STEACS) and generally indicates acute total coronary
occlusion. Most developed ST segment elevation myocardial infarction ○ Acute chest pain without
persistent ST segment elevation Accounts for 75% of all cases of acute coronary syndrome 2 Defined
as non ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTEACS), further diagnostically refined as: □ Non
ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (elevated biomarkers) □ Unstable angina At presentation,
ECG reveals: □ Persistent or transient ST segment depression, or □ T wave inversion □ Flat T waves □
Pseudo normalization of T waves □ No ECG changes DIAGNOSIS CLINICAL PRESENTATION
History ○ Thorough past medical history essential for suring appropriate diagnosis and management. 2
○ Factors that should be evaluated include: Nature of angina symptoms □ Location, duration,

Florence, Italy And Italy
Florence, Italy is located in the Tuscany section of Italy with an area of thirty nine square miles. In
2006, there were 366,488 people residing within Florence s city limits, while the Metropolitan Area of
Florence, Prato, and Pistoia, was home to about 1.5 million people. In the five years between 2002 and
2007, the population of Florence grew by 3.22 percent, while Italy as a whole grew by 3.56 percent.
As of 2006, 90.45 percent of the population was Italian. The largest immigrant group, which came
from other European countries (mostly from Albania and Romania), constituted 3.52 percent, East
Asia (mostly Han Chinese and Filipino made up 2.17 percent, the Americas 1.41 percent, and North
Africa] (mostly Moroccan) 0.9 percent. Florentine (Fiorentino), spoken by inhabitants of Florence and
its environs, is a Tuscan dialect and an immediate parent language to modern Italian. Italy is one of the
stronger nations in Europe. It is a boot shaped peninsula on the southern corner of Europe and is
slightly larger than the state of Arizona. Italy also controls the two large islands Sicily and Sardinia.
The concept of a unified Italy is one that has come to blossom in recent years. The state of Italy was
first organized as a constitutional monarchy under King Victor Emmanuel II in 1861, and Rome
joining in 1870. In 1922, the Fascist party led Mussolini, began to take control over the country Italy,
eventually leading to a tremendous defeat in World War II. The modern Italian

To What Extent Has Modern Liberalism Departed from...
There are huge differences between classical and modern liberalism and as a result classical liberals
believe that modern liberals have not stayed true to initial ideas posed by the likes of John Locke
given that modern liberals have embraced collectivism while classical liberals favoured pure
individualism. But they are fundamentally both forms of liberalism so are united in their belief of
freedom and rights of the individual but they have slightly different views on the type of freedom they
support.
Classical liberalism has a belief in utilitarianism first posed by Jeremy Bentham, this is where
individuals make tiny calculations about whether their actions will maximise pleasure or minimise
pain . This is an egotistical form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
T.H. Green argued that freedom is the ability of the individual to develop individuality and this is a
positive thing. This is thus done through self fufillment and pushing one s own knowledge. Positive
freedom places emphasis on the individual flourishing rather than survival of the fittest so therefore
the state should offer equal opportunities to all. This has seen modern liberals support the welfare state
whereas classical liberals focused on standing on your own feet. But, this is not totally different to
core liberal beliefs. The state only intervenes to ensure equality such as education and health. Modern
liberals defend the welfare state on the basis of equality of opportunity. The welfare state has
attempted to address issues such as idleness and want and squalor , named by the Beveridge Report by
William Beveridge. Overall, Modern liberals believe in providing an equal playing field to help the
individual flourish in society rather than the individual just battling for themselves.
This belief in some state intervention and positive freedom has lead liberals of modern times to a
belief in welfare and economic management. Modern liberals support economic management,
proposed first by John Maynard Keynes, who argued that governments could manage their economies
in order to thrive. They believe in a mixed economy where you sometimes must tax and spend and yet
other times you

Advantages Of The CAPM Assumption
CAPM Assumptions
The CAPM is often criticized for being unrealistic because of the assumptions on which it is based, so
it is important to be aware of these assumptions and the reasons for criticizing.
The assumptions are the following
 Investors with diversified portfolios
This assumption implies that investors only require a change in the systematic risk of their portfolios,
since unsystematic risk has been removed and can be ignored.
Single period horizon transaction
A standard maintenance period is assumed by the CAPM for comparable yields different values. One
more than six months, for example, can not be compared with a yield of more than 12 months. A
holding period of one year is generally used.
Investors can borrow and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the business risk of the investment project is different from the organization of investment, the
CAPM can be used to calculate a rate discount for a specific project. The procedure for this
calculation was covered in the second article of this series (specific discount rates project, Student
Accountant, April 2008).
The advantage of using a CAPM project Derivatives specific rate of discount is illustrated in Figure 2
Using the CAPM will lead to better investment decisions than the use of the WACC in the two shaded
areas, which can be represented by the projects A and B.
Project A would be rejected if WACC was used as discount rate, because the internal rate of return
(IRR) of the project is less than the WACC. This investment decision is not correct, however, since the
project A would be accepted if a CAPM the discount rate derived for specific projects is used because
the project IRR is above the SML. The project offers a larger than necessary to compensate for the
level of systematic risk, and accept that it will increase shareholder wealth

Sexual Harassment in India
Sexual harassment in India is termed Eve teasing and is described as: unwelcome sexual gesture or
behaviour whether directly or indirectly as sexually coloured remarks; physical contact and advances;
showing pornography; a demand or request for sexual favours; any other unwelcome physical,
verbal/non verbal conduct being sexual in nature. The critical factor is the unwelcomeness of the
behaviour, thereby making the impact of such actions on the recipient more relevant rather than intent
of the perpetrator. According to India s constitution, sexual harassment infringes the fundamental right
of a woman to gender equality under Article 14 of the Constitution of India and her right to life and

Jokes, pictures, touching, leering, unwanted requests for a date have all been found by courts to be
sexual harassment in the workplace. Sexual harassment in the workplace can be between people of the
same sex. Sexual harassment in the workplace can be a woman harassing a man.
Who can sue?
Anyone who is offended by a sexually harassing environment may theoretically sue. However, that
employee s offense must be reasonable. An extremely sensitive person might not be able to maintain a
claim, because her feelings of having been offended were not reasonable.
The reasonableness is evaluated by a standard that is the same as a person in the victim s
circumstances. For example, what a reasonable woman might think is a hostile environment is not
necessarily the same as what a man might think is a hostile environment. If it s a woman who was
harassed, it s the woman s point of view that counts.
Damages In Sexual Harassment In The Workplace Cases
Victims of sexual harassment in the workplace can recover for their lost wages, future lost wages,
emotional distress, punitive damages, and attorneys fees.
In India, fortunately or unfortunately many women has been misusing this Bill as also other Women

Van Gogh s Starry Night
In Vincent Van Gogh s Starry Night there are many aspects of the artwork that are symbolic of Van
Gogh s life struggles. It is easy for the viewer to assume that the aspects of Starry Night represent van
Gogh s time in the asylum, however, not all aspects represent his insanity and isolation. Starry Night is
van Gogh s representation of his biography inspired by his loss of faith, which can be seen and
supported by the symbols of the church and the stars. It is fair to say van Gogh was not in a good
emotional place when he painted Starry Night. On May 8th 1889, van Gogh entered the hospital of St.
Paul de Mausole at St. Rémy because of his mental instability. He did not leave for many weeks
therefore he was able to devote the majority of his time to his paintings. van Gogh painted Starry
Night in June between 16 18. The mountains are the ones he could see from his cell window but are
exaggerated to reflect this idea of another world or religion that he had connected with in the past
(Soth). According to James Elkins, van Gogh had very passionate, if not obscure, thoughts about how
his art worked as religion (Elkins 12). Many scholars can see the relationship but it is not evident to
the common eye. There is definitely a relationship that ties Starry Night to van Gogh s spiritual life,
but it is the loss of his spiritual life that influenced this piece of artwork. In Starry Night (figure 1)
there is a church that is not based off the church in the town of St. Rémy

Thomas Haitian Revolution Analysis
Shady Kamel
Second Revolutions: Thomas Jefferson and Haiti Beginning in 1789, France s political landscape was
completely transformed by the chaotic bloodshed that resulted from the country s absolute monarchy
and feudal system. Backing the United States in the American Revolution left France on the verge of
bankruptcy, but the Revolution also lay as a precedent for the French to follow soon after. Impacted by
the rising enlightenment ideology of inalienable rights, the French depicted the strength of the will of
the people and successfully altered the government to better suit the needs of its citizens.
Simultaneously, France influenced the rise of another revolution one that would alter society and the
social constructs that society revolves around the Haitian Revolution. Professor James Alexander Dun
argues, however, that the term revolution is not used as a noun in this instance, and is in fact used as
an adjective to further illustrate its descriptiveness and uniqueness to the situation. He believes that a
revolution is constituted by a certain series of events , but that the Haitian revolution is more complex
than this. Professor Dun s conclusion that a revolution shouldn t be viewed as a thing, but rather,
should be looked upon as a description is a fascinating assertion as it challenges conventional
thinking, and tailors the term to any particular event such as with France and Haiti. This reasoning
expands upon the words adaptability and was necessary

Comparing The Characters Of Benedick And Beatrice In Much...
What is love? Sure, love is defined by the dictionary as, An intense feeling of deep affection , but is
that all there is to such a complex emotion? Love is not only a romantic emotion for someone, but also
an action in which two people are willing to sacrifice everything to be together, even if it means
ending other meaningful relationships in their lives. In the tragicomedy Much Ado About Nothing by
William Shakespeare, this is a major theme that affects many of the characters. An example of this is
the relationship between the characters Benedick and Beatrice. Throughout the story, they argue with
each other, saying that they will never get married. Ironically, they fall for each other around the
middle of the story and get married in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown in Act 4, Scene 1, when Benedick says to Beatrice, I will challenge him. I will kiss your
hand, and so I leave you ( Shakespeare 76). In addition, in Act 3, Scene 2, Benedick changes himself
for Beatrice, as said by Don Pedro, Nay, a rubs himself with civet (Shakespeare 47). Both of these
pieces of evidence from Much Ado About Nothing show that Benedick is really in love with Beatrice.
For instance, when Benedick makes an oath to kill Claudio, he s promising to sacrifice his lifelong
friendship with someone who s always supported him for Beatrice. Even though Benedick goes back
on his oath after hearing that Beatrice wants him to kill Claudio, one of his closest allies, he ignores
his doubts and goes through with challenging Claudio to a duel in order to avenge Hero and to win
Beatrice s heart. Additionally, Benedick begins to improve his hygiene so Beatrice will want to be
with him. If their love was faked, then Benedick wouldn t bother doing anything to impress Beatrice,
but since he genuinely wants to win her affections, he decides to touch up on his appearance so she ll

Media Manipulation
There is a very subtle, yet powerful force at work on our world today. It is trying to control what
woman and young girls do say and believe, especially about their own appearances. The media
portrays unrealistic images that affect the way people, particularly woman, feel about themselves. And
there is no way to avoid it. The media acts as a transmitter of potentially dangerous, socially desirable
values and norms. Anyone can become a victim without even realizing it. Woman are told to believe

Commercials, billboards, and magazines now have become sly and seductive sellers tolls. The clever,
catchy tunes that tell woman their bodies aren t good enough get placed in the back of a woman s
mind never to escape. It s proof of the power of influence. According to Bakari Chavanu, author of an
article in rethinkingschools.org, quot;Students today are more influenced by the popular media outside
the classroom that by the textbooks and novels they are forced to read. By the time a person graduates
high school they watch 22,000 hours of television, and they ve seen 350,000 commercials by the age
of seventeen. quot; (www.rethinkingschools.org). They watch it all voluntarily, unable to recognize the
damage being done. The images in and on TV shape the values of young people as well as adults.
Sadly, these same images are part of a culture in which one out of every woman has an eating disorder,
(Levinson 46) girls and younger woman increasingly have problems with low self esteem that
eventually leads to dangerous behavior, (www.ed.gov. ERIC...) and where illusions are almost always
shattered. Through ads and other media woman are told to believe that the average woman in the real

beautiful) is in constant need of improvement.

The Berlin Wall And The End Of The Wall
The Berlin Wall was a fortification established in 1961 in order to separate East Berlin from West
Berlin. The wall separated people from their work, home, and family, and the results were devastating.
The events that surrounded the destruction of the wall proved that men seek freedom by nature. Many
parallels can be drawn from the fall of the wall in 1989 to the end of the embargo that the United
States had on Cuba for roughly half a century. Germany was split four ways (see picture to the left)
between the United States, France, Britain, and the Soviet Union after World War II. The United
States, France, and Britain controlled West Germany and West Berlin in a democracy. Whereas, the
Soviet Union controlled East Germany and East Berlin with communism. About 2.5 million people
fled from East to West Germany between the years of 1949 and 1961. In Germany the U.S.S.R. built a
wall that surrounded West Berlin. The wall was built because they feared that the loss of more people
would threaten their economy. The wall symbolized the difference between [how] western democrats
and eastern communists (C., R., S., 2012) believed that the country should be run. In Germany the
USSR built a wall that surrounded West Berlin. They built this wall because they feared too many
people were fleeing East Berlin and even East Germany for the freedoms in West Berlin. (History
Channel, n.d.), (History , n.d.).

Sustainable Development And Wyss s Turmoil In The Galapagos
After reading the excerpt from Honey s Ecotourism and Sustainable Development and Wyss s Turmoil

that the Galapagos are a fragile country that is being treated in the harshest ways. The Galapagos are
most notoriously known for the inspiration of Darwin s theory of evolution because of its unique
diversity in same species, as well as being the home for several other rare species. This fame,
understandably, spiked the interest in the islands, thus increasing the tourism numbers with a growth
in interest from a variety of scientists and tourists.

had on the environment without doing away with them completely. The International Safety

loss, erosion, and animal behavioral changes. The Galapagos National Park Service will sometimes
shut down exploration of these sites in order to help those places recover a little from the damage.
This, to me, only seems like a temporary fix for these places; the tourism is most likely only going to
grow and the islands are going to need to find a way to keep up with it. Especially with the
introduction of cruise ships, the chances of invasive species being introduced onto the islands is
extremely high because of the different types of bacteria, fungi, and various other plant and animal
species that can harbor on the boats. The government put in various regulations to help prevent these
such as a complete inspection of the boat from bow to stern, but that is not always a trusting fix, as
some inspectors have the chance to miss things. Invasive species are the most detrimental factor to

Batman Begins Symbolism
Batman Begins Fear doesn t shut you down; it wakes you up , an important quote by Veronica Roth.
This quote relates to the film Batman Begins directed by Christopher Nolan. This is an intriguing film
that follows the life of Bruce Wayne who has to overcome his childhood fear. Important motifs used to
show the idea of fear and corruption were guns, bats and fog. A way in which the motif of a gun was
used to show the idea of fear and corruption was when young Bruce and his family attend the opera.

Explain the Key Functions in Merchandising, Referencing...
Merchandising is carried out by the area of a business which mediates marketing and production
departments, such as the buyers. This process is were the product is designed and developed, and then
presented to the rest of the buying team. Including overlooking the product line throughout is product
development life, from start to finish. The merchandising department may have to deal with some of
the costing and pricing. The merchandiser aids creating a product line that should create a profit for
the company, by executing the correct costing and pricing for these particular products. They have to
lead their customer forward in creating new products. This may be taking risks for the company that
may include getting rid of products that do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For my low (mass) market I chose Primark, which offers fast fashion at low prices. This particular
retailer has to supply on high demand on mass, to a specific market where their products are bought
mainly on price rather than quality. For the merchandiser this means sourcing their supplies at low
cost. Therefore being able to sell at a lower price, demanding the merchandiser to use good
negotiation with suppliers to achieve this. For my middle market retailer I chose Next, which is
directed at a different consumer than that of Primark and the price range is higher also. For this
specific retailer the merchandiser has to think about a higher quality of product that the customer can
invest in, such as workwear. The merchandiser has to invest time communicating with buyer on a
budget that will still be able to turn a profit for the business. For my third retailer I chose Harvey
Nichols which is a high end department store. This requires a different process for the retailer as it has
to research buying the products as finished garments and does not have to deal with the manufacturing
aspects of its product range. This therefore means the merchandiser has to work closely with the buyer
on deciding which products to sell from a range of branded items. Comparing all three retailers there
is a great difference on the responsibilities and functions that the merchandiser has to adopt, from
concentrating on costing and pricing, through to

Southern Colonies Political Analysis
Politics The politics of the southern colonies first began in 1607 during the founding of Jamestown,
Virginia. This was the first British colony in America and the new world. The colonists sent to
Jamestown were sent to the new world to attempt to make money and to try to find gold for the joint
stock company. The southern colony of Virginia started off as to being governed by the Virginia
company. What this meant is that until 1624 Virginia would be a royal charter governed and controlled
by the Virginia company. But, before Virginia would be controlled by the king and the British colonies
the first British assembly in the Americas took place. The house of Burgesses in 1619 was the first
representative democracy in the colonies. But Virginia was not the only colony that at one point
controlled by another group other than the king, it is the colony of Maryland. Maryland was a

In Jamestown, Virginia the one crop that saved the town from complete bankruptcy was that of
tobacco. In both Virginia and Maryland their colonies were mainly based on single crop economies,
which was tobacco. Thus the tobacco industry would now become the big cash crop. Since there was
so much growth in the industry in both colonies this caused for a huge need in labor making the
colonies in much need of indentured servants and eventually slaves. Now as for the other three
colonies it was a very similar system. They were very reliant in a single crop of economy which was
mainly based on rice and eventually others like tobacco and cotton. Also, in these colonies since they
had so much needed for labor they resulted in the need of millions of slaves. But all of these colonies
participated in mercantilism which meant they sent tobacco to England and received chewing tobacco

Incest, Murder, And Suicide
Incest, murder, and suicide; many readers regard Oedipus the King as a story of a tragic hero unable to
alter his course of fate. Fate is defined as a power that is believed to control what happens in the future
(Merriam Webster). It is believed in Greek Mythology that many aspects of a person s life were
determined by the three mythical women known as Fates. These were three sister goddesses that
appeared in Greek and Roman mythology and were believed to have spun out a child s destiny at
birth. They determined when life began, when it ended, and everything in between. At the birth of
each man they appeared spinning, measuring, and cutting the thread of life. However not everything
was inflexible or predetermined. A man destined to become a great warrior one day cold still choose
what he wanted to do on any given day. The gods cold simply intervene with decisions that could be
helpful or harmful. In a sense, they controlled the metaphorical life of every mortal born ( The Three
Fates: Destiny s Deities of Ancient Greece and Rome ). Oracles or prophets were often times used to
help see into the future in an effort to possibly change the outcome. However, fate cannot be avoided
or altered even if using free will, it is who we are or who we are meant to be, it is set into motion the
day we are born. Websters dictionary defines free will as freedom of humans to make choices that are
not determined by prior causes or by divine intervention (Merriam Webster). As the

Research Paper On Christmas In Spain
Christmas in Spain
In America during the month of December, most people will go and pick out a Christmas tree, string
lights on its branches, listen to music about the holidays, and decorate their houses with little toys and
ceramics representing Saint Nicholas. A fictional character that as children we are told will bring
presents the night of Christmas if we behave throughout the year. But what about in other countries?
What sort of holidays do they rejoice at when the thought of the birth Christ passes their mind? In
Spain during the evening of December 24th, commonly known as Christmas Eve, many citizens go to
Midnight Mass. Bells are rung at midnight to signal to families that it is time to attend La Misa Del
Gallo , which translates to The Mass of the Rooster. The name originates from the thought that the
only night a rooster crowed at midnight was the night that Jesus was born. Going to this Mass is a
tradition for most families living in Spain. Prior to this, most families eat their Christmas dinner. A
traditional dinner would be Pavo Trufado de Navidad . This is a Christmas Turkey with truffles. The

Famous Speeches Of The Great Awakening
Jessica Gebert Famous Speeches Final Paper The first known recordings of eulogistic discourse
emerged from the ancient Greek tradition, where the funeral speech developed out of the formal
laudation or commemoration of those who had fallen in battle for their country. Some of the best
examples of this type of eulogistic rhetoric include Cicero s de Orator and Pericles Funeral oration.
Stylistically the structure of these orations typically concentrated heavily on the mourning of the
deceased and then transitioned into the celebration of their life. (Kent, 2007). While the traditional
Greek structure lasted many decades, as early as the 1700 s a shift in style of funeral orations began to
emerge. Many attribute this stylistic change to the Great Awakening as new Protestant sects began
incorporating more expressive and ceremonial approaches to their memorials. As funerals became
increasingly extravagant spectacles, funeral sermons began to incorporate biography, praise, and
emotional expression developments that laid a foundation for the popularization of the eulogy genre.
(Henderson, 2011) In Owen Peterson s volume of Representative American Speeches, he notes, A
eulogy has two distinctive characteristics which sets it apart from most other forms of public address:
(1) it is meant to be delivered at a ceremonial occasion to honor the subject; and (2) it is designed to
be heard by an audience that already shares the speaker s respect, affection, or admiration for

The Anatomy And Pathophysiology And Treatment Of...
Introduction
Degenerative disorder is a condition that leads to progressive loss of function. Osteoarthritis is the
most common form of degenerative disease and its prevalence is significantly increasing. According
to Block and Scanzello (2016) says in next 2030, there will be 67 million people affected with
osteoarthritis, as the global population age in united states. This topic has been chosen for discussion
because population ages are increasing and osteoarthritis negatively impact onto their daily activities
and social life. So, this discussion will be focusing on the anatomy and the pathophysiology and
treatment of osteoarthritis and also how it will impact onto their daily life. This discussion will further
highlight on how to assist patient with the degenerative disorder; to achieve the maximum level of
independency with education and preventive measure, as it is essential with the pharmacological, non
pharmacological and surgical treatment.

resulted from intra articular stresses. Intra articular stresses maybe initiated by abnormalities in
articular cartilage, sub chondral bone, ligaments, menisci, peri articular muscles, peripheral nervous

Rice also shows strong opinions concerning what it means to be American, and how America fits

Europeans giggle at this and say we re naive and so on, but we re not Europeans, we re Americans and

Rice considers herself completely Republican in all issues. With regards to foreign policy, she sees

component of the texts, jealousy more or less defines the two texts in each of their separate contexts.
The concept of Jealousy takes on differing forms in each of the texts parturitated by each texts vastly

with use of various literary techniques in relation to his own worldly and societal context. Tim Blake

Hugo s dream to take flight and soar above everything and everyone and his admittance that he knows
you re not supposed to be jealous brings closure and responders are able to gain some insight into the
reasons behind Hugo s betrayal of Odin s trust. Tim Blake Nelson effectively utilises imagery to show
the corruption of jealousy. A prime example is the use of the recurring visual tree motif. From the
beginnings of the text, responders are exposed to images of straight, healthy trees that are used to
portray the unsoiled minds of the characters. However, once Hugo s villainous plot develops and the
jealousy develops, the trees outside of the boarding facility become twisted, deformed and a strange
material starts to corrupt the coherence of some shots. When Odin spies Mike conversing with Desi
and in the mise en scene, a strange material can be seen in the top right corner blocking the view of
the scene. This strange phenomenon is a visual technique that demonstrates to the audience the
corruption of Odin s mind that questions Desi s fidelity spawned from jealousy, which eventually

The internet that so many of us have come to depend on is a vast trove of information that is readily

Genre Theory
Genre and Genre Film
Introduction to Film
Rachel Kamrowski
Instructor Day
5/2/2016
Genre Theory is used in the categorization of films. Genres are dependent on various factors such as
story line, whom the director is, and what are the audience expectations In using genre theory we
create a short cut in how we describe films. Genres are categorized into and then sub categorized
depending on the story and plot. Fantasy is a genre described as, Any film with obviously unreal,
magical, or impossible situations, characters, or settings, often overlapping with various other genres,
especially science fiction, but sometimes historical dramas. (Goodykoontz, 2014) Fantasy is a genre

Low key lighting and odd camera angles are used in this part of the film while Harry searches for the
Sorcerer s stone and battles Voldemort. There is a slight horror aspect to the following scenes as Harry

panic, and dread for the audience. These films are often unsettling and rely on scaring the audience
through a portrayal of their worst fears and nightmares. As we grow to love Harry and realize his
biggest fear is the man who killed his parents and also him, and then are forced to watch him return
this brings horror into the mix as a sub genre.

The Faerie Queene By Edmund Spenser Analysis
This week s lecture is on The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser. This lecture focuses on Edmund
Spenser s life, the sources and influences that created Book I of The Faerie Queene , themes, devices,
and meaning, purpose of Book I, and The Legend of the Knight of the Red Cross . Edmund Spenser
was born in 1552 to a modest family of modest means with a similar background such as Marlowe and
Shakespeare. Spenser was a well educated man much like Marlowe. Spenser spent his first years of
education at the Merchant Taylors School before attending university. Edmund Spenser would go on
to receive a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Arts from Cambridge University. After university,
Spenser would begin a career as a minor civil servant where he was a personal secretary to men of
power and influence. His work would lead him to a few minor colonial government posts in Ireland.
Afterwards, Edmund Spenser was bestowed a castle and 3,000 acres of land in Munster, Ireland.
However, the castle was burned down into a rebel uprising. This was due to Spenser being
disrespectful of the Irish and their religion. Edmund Spenser would then go on to be a poet. He was
creative and adventurous when it came to his work. His greatest works are The Shepheardes Calendar
and The Faerie Queene . Spenser became a great influence to several poets such as Milton and other
romantics. In the end, Edmund Spenser became one of the greatest English poets of his time.
The Faerie Queene is similar to works of Beowulf because of its Anglo Saxon epics. Also, Book I has
a hint of classical and renaissance adventures. The Faerie Queene is a perfect combination of themes
and motifs that was already introduced in other assignments. This makes Spenser s The Faerie Queene
an epic poem. An epic poem is described as a long narrative in elevated style while presenting
characters of high positions in adventures thus forming an organic whole through their relation to a
central heroic figure and their development of events that play an important part to the history of a
nation or race. The common characteristics of the main character is that the hero is played by a person
of importance such who would have a historical or legendary significance. The

Cordelia As A Christ-Like Figure In Ian Hunter s King Lear
Cordelia as a Christ like figure is understandable based on the answer she gives her father in response
to his question of love. Does she love him as her sisters do? Goneril and Regan give unabashedly
extravagant answers that contain nothing more than empty flattery and meaningless words of love.
However, Cordelia is the only daughter who gives an honest answer to his question. In the play King
Lear, Cordelia responds, Unhappy that I am, I cannot heave/ My heart into my mouth. I love your
majesty/ According to my bond; no more, no less (I.i.90 92). Cordelia accepts the king as her father
and her sovereign, and she loves him accordingly, but he is not a God like figure to her. Honesty, in
this instance, is more important to King Lear s youngest daughter, rather than ego stroking. When she
answers that she cannot heave her heart into her mouth, she understands that she will not baste him in
meaningless flattery just to gain his wealth. This is the moment in the play that Cordelia s virtue and
love are revealed, setting into motion the idea that she is a Christ like figure. Ian Hunter, author of the
Christian article Lear, Cordelia, the Cross presumes the play is more than just an allegory to parts of
the Bible. He compares this play to John Milton s Paradise Lost. Hunter states that the conversation
between Lear and Kent in which Kent is banished reveals another key element to the play. He states,

Lab Report Yeast Fermentation
ABSTRACT The experiment performed was designed and processed to determine if yeast cells are
able to undergo fermentation with other food molecules when enclosed in a fermentation tube with no
oxygen. The yeast and food molecules were mixed together evenly and allowed to incubate for
approximately one hour. The tests were then carried out to determine if respiration (anaerobic and
aerobic) took place within the fermentation tubes. If there was any detection of carbon dioxide then
that is an indicator of a respiration taking place. If there was any detection of ethanol then
fermentation took place. If there was a presence of both carbon dioxide and ethanol, then respiration
and fermentation took place. The process of fermentation uses more glucose and is much more
inefficient compared to cellular respiration. During this experiment the positive control, glucose,
guaranteed fermentation. While the negative control, water, inhibited the process of fermentation.
Independent variables consisted of other forms of food molecules. The results in this lab were
recorded to indicate whether or not fermentation will occur on the selected food molecules. ... Show

The Effect Of Technique And Positional Release Therapy On...
My Research topic is a comparative study to evaluate the effectiveness of Bowen Technique and
Positional Release Therapy on Trapezitis.
Trapezitis is the inflammation of the trapezius muscle which gets aggravated by activity and even at
rest. It is a very common condition seen in practically most of the individuals. Trapezitis has serious
implications like neck pain, reduction in the range of motion, stiffness etc. It s very commonly seen in
students, people working for long time on computers, Excessive driving etc.
The positional release technique is one of the technique used in Physical Therapy which has been
proven to help Trapezitis. Bowen Technique is a soft tissue manipulation Technique which is also
found to be beneficial in pain reduction. There hasn t been a comparative study done on both the
techniques.Hence I would like to do a comparative study to see which is more effective in Trapezitis.
There is paucity in literature with regards to effectiveness of Bowens technique on Trapezitis.
The less number of research articles on this topic facilitated me to conduct a study on this topic. This
research study will help me clinically in applying the results of this study to my patients in the clinic.
The incidence of neck pain is 3 5% population worldwide. Hence it is very important that I know
which technique works the best so my patients will be benefited from it.

Ancient Greece And Ancient Roman Empires Essay
In today s time people always say that everything that seems to be new is just really something remade
from the past. Throughout time and space works of art and literature spread around and are adapted to
what a certain culture needs. This glocalizing means taking the original form and manipulating it so it
can best fit the audience in which is viewing it. Whether it be translating something from one
language to another or even completely changing something that was intended for adults so it could be
easy for children to learn. Similarly, in the transition between the Ancient Greece and Ancient Roman
Empires so many aspects of the Grecian culture is adapted by the Romans but they glocalize it in
order to get more Romans on board with what the Greeks thought of. Even the Ancient Roman writer
and philosopher Seneca glocalized Euripides play Hippolytus. Despite the five hundred year time
difference between Euripides Hippolytus and Seneca s Phaedra, Seneca makes his best attempt to
copy the play but including aspects of the Roman culture he lived in. The culture gap between Ancient
Greece and Rome ultimately affects how the readers perceive the story and how different the two tales
actually are. Between 30 and 40 C.E. Seneca s writing started becoming increasingly popular
throughout the Roman Empire. On the other hand, many people did not support his philosophical
ideas such as stoicism. Seneca s stoic philosophy is defined as a philosophy that flourished in ancient

Accounting And Its Effect On The Asset Of The Portfolio
Depreciating assets over their useful lives, rather than just expensing them in the year they are
acquired.
When an asset such as new equipment is purchased by an organization, the seemingly obvious choice
for reporting such an expense would be to record it entirely at the time of its purchase, and simply
record income in the years following. This, however, is not the method used by accountants. Rather,
they use a method of depreciating the asset. This basically means spreading the expense of the asset of
the years of its useful life. This is the required method of accounting, according to the matching
principle. This principle states that to record the entire expense the first year would skew the results of
operations over the asset ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is for this reason that the depreciation expense is taken and added to overall net income at the end of
each subsequent year. This method s use or value may not be apparent at first, but through its practice
we see why this is the standard in regards to this area of financial reporting. Since the goal is to give
the fairest representation of the financial position, at times adjustments such as these must be made.
What equation describes the periodic inventory system?
In a periodic inventory system, on hand items are tracked from time to time rather than continuously.
This requires the company using the system to obtain a physical count at any time they must record
the inventory. The equation used in this system takes the balance of the beginning inventory, plus all
purchased items, and subtracting the ending balance. This formula determines the amount of inventory
that was sold or used since the previous count was taken. For example, if a store hand a beginning
inventory of 1,000 units, purchased an additional 4,000 units, and had an ending balance of 2,000
units, they have determined that 3,000 units were sold. The limitations of this system are that the
company does not continuously know how many items are on hand, as well as the inability to know
that one of the missing units was sold and not stolen, damaged, etc. This limits the company s abilities
in ordering additional stock due to low

Momaday, the reader gains views of Native American culture, both past and present, through two
disparate means of delivery. Both authors provide immensely rich portrayals through varying literary
devices in efforts to bring about a better understanding of problems contemporary Native Americans
face, especially regarding their own self identity.
The story of Love Medicine revolves around a central character, June Kashpaw, and the many threads
of relationships surrounding her, both near the time of her death, and in what has gone on before. The
novel is an exploration of a family web that June was a key component of. Her character is a pivot

Complications of plot are sparse, but are evident in an episodic fashion, as each small episode has its
own complexion and related complication that normally resolved within itself. In this regard of
episodic plots, the technique is similar to Love Medicine.
Erdrich appears to have a series of plots, or plots within plots in Love Medicine, At times, it is
difficult to anticipate where a plot exists until it becomes apparent in its crisis resolution. Again, much
like Momaday s work, the plots are episodic the different stories are interconnected and feed into one
another, but are capable of standing alone withy their own plots. Erdrich makes heavy use of the
characters themselves to advance the plot for each episode, and in inter relation between each
episode., whereas Momaday relies more on past story as a guide to present context.
Characterization is the strength of Love Medicine. The humorous, but tragic, exploits of eccentric
characters are extremely vivid in her story, and force a constant chnage of viewpoint for the reader as
more aspects of characters are revealed. The characters in this novel are a woven pattern of intricacy
possibly far surpassing the reader s ability, and especially surpassing the characters themselves. This
may be by design, as those things unresolved and disjointed by the end of the story can promote an
incomplete and unsettled set of emotions

The Plowman By Geoffrey Chaucer
In his description of the characters, Chaucer emphasizes qualities such as attire and physical
appearance as well as demeanor and content of character. For example, when Chaucer describes the
Summoner he says His face on fire, like a cherubin, / For he had carbuncles. His eyes were narrow (l.
642 643). Moreover, in terms of describing a character s morality, Chaucer stated in regard to the
Plowman that He was an honest worker, good and true, / Living in peace and perfect charity, / And, as
the gospel bade him, so did he (l. 542 544). The description of the Plowman poses an ironic mockery
of social standards within the Medieval society and church. The Plowman is viewed as a better
Christian steward than the clergy, signifying that the people with morality are poor and reside at the
bottom of the social pyramid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chaucer recognizes and points out devious and manipulative traits in characters such as the Friar when
he says Therefore instead of weeping and of prayer / One should give silver for a poor Friar s care. /
He kept his tippet stuffed with pins for curls, / And pocket knives, to give to pretty girls (l. 235 238).
In this case, relative to many others regarding clergy, Chaucer s description is ironically allegorical. In
the instance of the Friar, the Friar is a member of the Catholic clergy. Members of the clergy are sworn
to adhere to the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. The friar is selling his authority to grant
forgiveness for monetary profit, a tactic that is greedy and immoral and, therefore, breaking the vow to
poverty. Moreover, the Friar is especially concerned with his looks because he meticulously tends to
his hair. What s more, the Friar is said to give gifts to pretty

Comparing The White Man s Burden And The Poisonwood Bible
Weighed down, overwhelmed, accountability, and responsibility. These are all aspects of having a
burden, but what exactly is the burden of a white man? Labor? Money? Extreme temperatures? No,
far from it actually. In the poem the White Man s Burden, Kipling portrays the Burden as having to
civilize the uncultured heathens of Africa. The family in The Poisonwood Bible have this particular
burden. However, the family is divided on how they think about this so called burden . These two
works of literature go together like peanut butter and jelly. They walk hand in hand to expose the
downfalls of colonialism and superiority. The Poisonwood Bible has a family that is sent to the Congo
to help the Congolese people by introducing them to the Christian faith. In The White Man s Burden,
it talks of civilizing the uncivilized or changing them. Just as the Price family is doing to the
Congolese people. However the question remains. Is it the family s job to civilize these people? Well,
many believe not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It tells of the greatness and the pride that comes with fulfilling this task of civilizing people, but there
is a sense of mock in the wording of it. Both of these works of literature express the downside of this.
While reading The Poisonwood Bible the reader feels an almost awkward feeling when Nathan is
angry with Anatole or when the Congolese finally stand up to Nathan. The reader gets the feeling that
Nathan should back off. Even the family of Nathan feels odd in the moment while Nathan himself is
like a cobra ready to strike. This is a perfect example of how the family is split over how they should

Remittance Workers
There are a lot of immigrant s workers come to the United State, those starting sending money to their
relative in the form of remittances. By the way, I think that these people struggling themselves to help
others in back negative ways on themselves without any considerations for the modernity of life in a
special way, besides the reasons and wisdom that our God create us, furthermore balances between
spirit, mind, and body. Therefore, neglecting these considerations causes and create many bad back

changed and developed. Moreover, the human becomes more responsible and committed to struggling

Meatpacking Animals Abuse
Animals all around the world are abused everyday, with 100 million animals being poisoned, burned,
crippled, and abused in other ways in the U.S each year, and Ninety five percent of animals used for
farming are excluded from only federal law offering any sort of protection. This information is very
cruel indeed, but what people don t know is that large meatpacking industries are the cause of this
abuse. Organic farmers, on the other hand, treat their animals with more respect, and allow animals to
be free range, resulting in healthier meat. Because of this, people need to stop buying from these
meatpacking industries because their practices are morally and physically unhealthy and should
instead buy organic and healthier options.

An example of this is shown when the Physicians Committee states, While organic standards may help
to improve some aspects of health, it cannot help prevent obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart
disease, and many forms of cancer, nor will it cure the environmental contamination and resulting
health hazards plaguing the production and consumption of animal foods, (PC). Basically, they re
stating that many health effect can come from eating organic food, and that organic foods do nothing
to the environment. Although this is evidence is strong, The Physicians Committee stated information
that are outright lies. One piece of evidence could be, The new study in the British Journal of
Nutrition shows that organic is healthier precisely because synthetic toxins are prohibited, (Maria).
Since there can t be any synthetic toxins in organic food, none of the outcomes stated by the The
Physicians Committee can actually be proven to be true. The Physicians Committee had stated that
many downsides can come from toxins in organic food, but because these synthetic toxins are
prohibited, any outcomes of eating organic food stated by the Physicians Committee is false. Also,
they state that organic foods do not cure environmental contamination, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Essay on Tourette Syndrome
Imagine having poison ivy all over you body, for twenty years and constantly being told not to scratch.
You can resist for a while, but eventually you give in (Marlene Targ Brill 18). Tourette syndrome can
be compared to poison ivy in some aspects. Individuals with Tourette syndrome have been suffering
with tics and tantrums for hundreds of years, but today there are treatments that can help control the
symptoms of Tourettes, allowing sufferers to live a normal life. The history of Tourette syndrome is
very interesting. Hundreds of years ago those with Tourettes were thought of very differently all
around the world. In some countries they were worshiped and in some countries they were considered
possessed. Also, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those with Tourette syndrome paid the price for having Tourette s. Hundreds of years ago, people
with Tourette syndrome were thought to be mysterious though, the outlook has not changed. To this
day, there is not a complete understanding to why or how those with Tourette syndrome act the way
they do. Nor is there an exact reason why they have Tourette s. Doctors and scientists are still
researching to put the puzzle together about this disease. There may always be something a little
mysterious about Tourettes. Scientists have yet to get to the bottom of Tourette syndrome. Tourette is
still a mystery in the eyes of many people. Researchers have discovered that Tourette syndrome is
hereditary. They believe that it is caused by mismatched chromosomes. Researchers believe that tics
are caused by and excess, or oversensitivity to, the brain chemical dopamine. (Dopamine is a chemical
which ordinarily helps transmit signals involving control of motor movements from one nerve cell to
the next (Tracy Haerle 6) Scientists were clueless as to why individuals with tics and uncontrollable
tantrums acted the way they did. Tics are twitches or quirks of speech or behavior. So psychologists
assumed that it was because of bad parenting techniques. Tourette syndrome is passed on within the
family. The first clue that Tourette syndrome is caused by biological factors came in the early 1960s
(Tracy Haerle 13). It is

Christopher Carr s What Is History
The book What is History, has many great points of what Carr is trying to say therefore, the meaning
behind it has to make an huge impacted on his purpose. In the beginning chapter, it starts off as facts
that need to be understood to create history. Carr also notice that studying historian will determine the
major role if its legit. Even though, society is important, because it influences people s
behavior/believes it also has factors that respond to the environment. For an example, an inspiring
philosopher will look deep into details to form a perfect equation that puts the pieces to the puzzle
together.Where an imposter philosopher, will take little to none evidence to figure out the truth behind
their points. Carr stated that, They both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The debates varied from what to believe and what not to be believed or how the world around us has
an unique way of shedding light on topics in the years before us. I loved chapter 111, because it
dawned on me when, Carr stated, were hypothese designed to crystallize and organize further thinking
and were subject, to verification, modification, or refutation . This to me was an awesome way of
putting something so simple, which is evandance. Without if it, their would be no meaning to
anything. History, science and morality is the benefits of what knowledge became and grow from. For
me the reader how he puts it, gave me details on how to take in history. Applying the observation on
the a timeline and finding out who, what ,why and discovered it. Another, quote that I found
interesting was, split into a series of discrete technical problems of social readjustment. This right here
is basically saying, the more sociological history becomes, the better for both. Therefore, history plays
a role in human behavior and where they live as well as technology. The development of the new
world which now is us, came from the people that made history happen plus our existences. What I
mean by that

Twelfth Night Comparative Essay
William Shakespeare s The Twelfth Night original text and Trevor Nunn s filmed version were both
well crafted works highlighting the director s point of view. Shakespeare s original work introduced
the reader to a worded text that would have numerous embedded narratives which help deepen the
interest in the plot moving forward. For instance, light vs. dark, good vs. evil, and perfect vs.
imperfect scenarios were given specific characteristics throughout the film version eloquently
allowing Shakespeare s original text objectives to move forward without a wrinkle. Nunn allowed his
unaligned and nonchronological sequence to somehow meet Shakespeare s original text in the end
intact with its original integrity. The filmed version s first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the characters recite numerous words of their love felt for one another there is still a sort of dark
undertone. In act three scene one, Olivia says love s night is noon can be translated as so. The
manipulation of Malvolio s emotion that was mastered by Maria and Sir toby would allow Malvolio
who seemed dark and monotone in the original text allowed to show his lighter side in the visual
version of this work. Having a visual allows the audience to see the shift from Malvolio s tunnel
vision and straight laced restricted way of living to a person whom seemed to be set free through his
delightful dancing in gratitude of what he thought being Viola s love for him. Feste sings a song in the
end that is written in the original text and translated into a visual form in the filmed version, but Nunn
placed the fool as he was in the first scene allowing the story to come full circle in the end. The fool
seem to identify with the broader perspective of the story. The words of the song told a story of
nothing really matters when someone has a goal to accomplish or some who strives for something
nothing can break the rhythm. For the rain it raineth everyday was a running theme of the song letting
us in on continuous rain, but somehow continue to strive to please

The Philosophy Of Servant Leadership
The Philosophy of Servant Leadership Servant leadership is a theory based on the notion that one
should be a servant to others first, and a leader second. A person should have the desire to serve
others, in order to be a servant leader. The following paper will address several key components of the
servant leadership philosophy related to the book: The Servant: A Simple Story About the True
Essence of Leadership, written by James C. Hunter. First, I will examine the theory of servant
leadership including its history, definitions, and major concepts. Next, the function of this leadership
style in the field of nursing and nursing roles will be discussed. Finally, how this philosophy can be
utilized in my personal nursing practice and how the theory has sparked personal growth in myself as
a leader will be examined.
History of Servant Leadership The philosophy of servant leadership began with Robert K. Greenleaf
in 1977. He first came about the idea of servant leadership while reading Journey to the East by
Herman Hesse (Keith, 2016). This is a story of a group of travelers who were served by a man named
Leo. He performed their menial chores and lifted their spirits with his song and his spirit (Keith,
2016). Leo disappeared one day, throwing the travelers into disarray (Keith, 2016). This ended the
journey of the travelers. Many years later, one of the travelers saw Leo in a new job role as the head of
the order that once sponsored the journey (Keith, 2016). Once a servant,

  • 5. To What Extent Has Modern Liberalism Departed from... There are huge differences between classical and modern liberalism and as a result classical liberals believe that modern liberals have not stayed true to initial ideas posed by the likes of John Locke given that modern liberals have embraced collectivism while classical liberals favoured pure individualism. But they are fundamentally both forms of liberalism so are united in their belief of freedom and rights of the individual but they have slightly different views on the type of freedom they support. Classical liberalism has a belief in utilitarianism first posed by Jeremy Bentham, this is where individuals make tiny calculations about whether their actions will maximise pleasure or minimise pain . This is an egotistical form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... T.H. Green argued that freedom is the ability of the individual to develop individuality and this is a positive thing. This is thus done through self fufillment and pushing one s own knowledge. Positive freedom places emphasis on the individual flourishing rather than survival of the fittest so therefore the state should offer equal opportunities to all. This has seen modern liberals support the welfare state whereas classical liberals focused on standing on your own feet. But, this is not totally different to core liberal beliefs. The state only intervenes to ensure equality such as education and health. Modern liberals defend the welfare state on the basis of equality of opportunity. The welfare state has attempted to address issues such as idleness and want and squalor , named by the Beveridge Report by William Beveridge. Overall, Modern liberals believe in providing an equal playing field to help the individual flourish in society rather than the individual just battling for themselves. This belief in some state intervention and positive freedom has lead liberals of modern times to a belief in welfare and economic management. Modern liberals support economic management, proposed first by John Maynard Keynes, who argued that governments could manage their economies in order to thrive. They believe in a mixed economy where you sometimes must tax and spend and yet other times you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Advantages Of The CAPM Assumption CAPM Assumptions The CAPM is often criticized for being unrealistic because of the assumptions on which it is based, so it is important to be aware of these assumptions and the reasons for criticizing. The assumptions are the following  Investors with diversified portfolios This assumption implies that investors only require a change in the systematic risk of their portfolios, since unsystematic risk has been removed and can be ignored. Single period horizon transaction A standard maintenance period is assumed by the CAPM for comparable yields different values. One more than six months, for example, can not be compared with a yield of more than 12 months. A holding period of one year is generally used. Investors can borrow and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the business risk of the investment project is different from the organization of investment, the CAPM can be used to calculate a rate discount for a specific project. The procedure for this calculation was covered in the second article of this series (specific discount rates project, Student Accountant, April 2008). The advantage of using a CAPM project Derivatives specific rate of discount is illustrated in Figure 2 Using the CAPM will lead to better investment decisions than the use of the WACC in the two shaded areas, which can be represented by the projects A and B. Project A would be rejected if WACC was used as discount rate, because the internal rate of return (IRR) of the project is less than the WACC. This investment decision is not correct, however, since the project A would be accepted if a CAPM the discount rate derived for specific projects is used because the project IRR is above the SML. The critical factor is the unwelcomeness of the behaviour, thereby making the impact of such actions on the recipient more relevant rather than intent of the perpetrator. Sexual harassment in the workplace can be between people of the same sex. Sexual harassment in the workplace can be a woman harassing a man. Who can sue? Anyone who is offended by a sexually harassing environment may theoretically sue. However, that employee s offense must be reasonable. An extremely sensitive person might not be able to maintain a claim, because her feelings of having been offended were not reasonable. The reasonableness is evaluated by a standard that is the same as a person in the victim s circumstances. For example, what a reasonable woman might think is a hostile environment is not necessarily the same as what a man might think is a hostile environment. If it s a woman who was harassed, it s the woman s point of view that counts. Damages In Sexual Harassment In The Workplace Cases Victims of sexual harassment in the workplace can recover for their lost wages, future lost wages, emotional distress, punitive damages, and attorneys fees. • 8. Van Gogh s Starry Night In Vincent Van Gogh s Starry Night there are many aspects of the artwork that are symbolic of Van Gogh s life struggles. It is easy for the viewer to assume that the aspects of Starry Night represent van Gogh s time in the asylum, however, not all aspects represent his insanity and isolation. Starry Night is van Gogh s representation of his biography inspired by his loss of faith, which can be seen and supported by the symbols of the church and the stars. It is fair to say van Gogh was not in a good emotional place when he painted Starry Night. On May 8th 1889, van Gogh entered the hospital of St. Paul de Mausole at St. Rémy because of his mental instability. He did not leave for many weeks therefore he was able to devote the majority of his time to his paintings. van Gogh painted Starry Night in June between 16 18. The mountains are the ones he could see from his cell window but are exaggerated to reflect this idea of another world or religion that he had connected with in the past (Soth). According to James Elkins, van Gogh had very passionate, if not obscure, thoughts about how his art worked as religion (Elkins 12). Many scholars can see the relationship but it is not evident to the common eye. There is definitely a relationship that ties Starry Night to van Gogh s spiritual life, but it is the loss of his spiritual life that influenced this piece of artwork. • 10. Thomas Haitian Revolution Analysis Shady Kamel Second Revolutions: Thomas Jefferson and Haiti Beginning in 1789, France s political landscape was completely transformed by the chaotic bloodshed that resulted from the country s absolute monarchy and feudal system. Backing the United States in the American Revolution left France on the verge of bankruptcy, but the Revolution also lay as a precedent for the French to follow soon after. Impacted by the rising enlightenment ideology of inalienable rights, the French depicted the strength of the will of the people and successfully altered the government to better suit the needs of its citizens. Simultaneously, France influenced the rise of another revolution one that would alter society and the social constructs that society revolves around the Haitian Revolution. Professor James Alexander Dun argues, however, that the term revolution is not used as a noun in this instance, and is in fact used as an adjective to further illustrate its descriptiveness and uniqueness to the situation. He believes that a revolution is constituted by a certain series of events , but that the Haitian revolution is more complex than this. Professor Dun s conclusion that a revolution shouldn t be viewed as a thing, but rather, should be looked upon as a description is a fascinating assertion as it challenges conventional thinking, and tailors the term to any particular event such as with France and Haiti. This reasoning expands upon the words adaptability and was necessary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sure, love is defined by the dictionary as, An intense feeling of deep affection , but is that all there is to such a complex emotion? Love is not only a romantic emotion for someone, but also an action in which two people are willing to sacrifice everything to be together, even if it means ending other meaningful relationships in their lives. In the tragicomedy Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, this is a major theme that affects many of the characters. Both of these pieces of evidence from Much Ado About Nothing show that Benedick is really in love with Beatrice. For instance, when Benedick makes an oath to kill Claudio, he s promising to sacrifice his lifelong friendship with someone who s always supported him for Beatrice. Even though Benedick goes back on his oath after hearing that Beatrice wants him to kill Claudio, one of his closest allies, he ignores his doubts and goes through with challenging Claudio to a duel in order to avenge Hero and to win Beatrice s heart. • 16. The Berlin Wall And The End Of The Wall The Berlin Wall was a fortification established in 1961 in order to separate East Berlin from West Berlin. The wall separated people from their work, home, and family, and the results were devastating. The events that surrounded the destruction of the wall proved that men seek freedom by nature. Many parallels can be drawn from the fall of the wall in 1989 to the end of the embargo that the United States had on Cuba for roughly half a century. Germany was split four ways (see picture to the left) between the United States, France, Britain, and the Soviet Union after World War II. The United States, France, and Britain controlled West Germany and West Berlin in a democracy. Whereas, the Soviet Union controlled East Germany and East Berlin with communism. About 2.5 million people fled from East to West Germany between the years of 1949 and 1961. In Germany the U.S.S.R. built a wall that surrounded West Berlin. The wall was built because they feared that the loss of more people would threaten their economy. The wall symbolized the difference between [how] western democrats and eastern communists (C., R., S., 2012) believed that the country should be run. In Germany the USSR built a wall that surrounded West Berlin. They built this wall because they feared too many people were fleeing East Berlin and even East Germany for the freedoms in West Berlin. The Galapagos are most notoriously known for the inspiration of Darwin s theory of evolution because of its unique diversity in same species, as well as being the home for several other rare species. The islands that receive the most tourism suffer from vegetation loss, erosion, and animal behavioral changes. The Galapagos National Park Service will sometimes shut down exploration of these sites in order to help those places recover a little from the damage. This, to me, only seems like a temporary fix for these places; the tourism is most likely only going to grow and the islands are going to need to find a way to keep up with it. Especially with the introduction of cruise ships, the chances of invasive species being introduced onto the islands is extremely high because of the different types of bacteria, fungi, and various other plant and animal species that can harbor on the boats. Fate is defined as a power that is believed to control what happens in the future (Merriam Webster). It is believed in Greek Mythology that many aspects of a person s life were determined by the three mythical women known as Fates. These were three sister goddesses that appeared in Greek and Roman mythology and were believed to have spun out a child s destiny at birth. They determined when life began, when it ended, and everything in between. At the birth of each man they appeared spinning, measuring, and cutting the thread of life. However not everything was inflexible or predetermined. A man destined to become a great warrior one day cold still choose what he wanted to do on any given day. The gods cold simply intervene with decisions that could be helpful or harmful. In a sense, they controlled the metaphorical life of every mortal born ( The Three Fates: Destiny s Deities of Ancient Greece and Rome ). Oracles or prophets were often times used to help see into the future in an effort to possibly change the outcome. However, fate cannot be avoided or altered even if using free will, it is who we are or who we are meant to be, it is set into motion the day we are born. • 26. Famous Speeches Of The Great Awakening Jessica Gebert Famous Speeches Final Paper The first known recordings of eulogistic discourse emerged from the ancient Greek tradition, where the funeral speech developed out of the formal laudation or commemoration of those who had fallen in battle for their country. Some of the best examples of this type of eulogistic rhetoric include Cicero s de Orator and Pericles Funeral oration. Stylistically the structure of these orations typically concentrated heavily on the mourning of the deceased and then transitioned into the celebration of their life. (Kent, 2007). While the traditional Greek structure lasted many decades, as early as the 1700 s a shift in style of funeral orations began to emerge. Many attribute this stylistic change to the Great Awakening as new Protestant sects began incorporating more expressive and ceremonial approaches to their memorials. As funerals became increasingly extravagant spectacles, funeral sermons began to incorporate biography, praise, and emotional expression developments that laid a foundation for the popularization of the eulogy genre. (Henderson, 2011) In Owen Peterson s volume of Representative American Speeches, he notes, A eulogy has two distinctive characteristics which sets it apart from most other forms of public address: (1) it is meant to be delivered at a ceremonial occasion to honor the subject; and (2) it is designed to be heard by an audience that already shares the speaker s respect, affection, or admiration for ... • 32. The Faerie Queene By Edmund Spenser Analysis This week s lecture is on The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser. This lecture focuses on Edmund Spenser s life, the sources and influences that created Book I of The Faerie Queene , themes, devices, and meaning, purpose of Book I, and The Legend of the Knight of the Red Cross . Edmund Spenser was born in 1552 to a modest family of modest means with a similar background such as Marlowe and Shakespeare. Spenser was a well educated man much like Marlowe. Spenser spent his first years of education at the Merchant Taylors School before attending university. Edmund Spenser would go on to receive a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Arts from Cambridge University. After university, Spenser would begin a career as a minor civil servant where he was a personal secretary to men of power and influence. His work would lead him to a few minor colonial government posts in Ireland. Afterwards, Edmund Spenser was bestowed a castle and 3,000 acres of land in Munster, Ireland. However, the castle was burned down into a rebel uprising. This was due to Spenser being disrespectful of the Irish and their religion. Edmund Spenser would then go on to be a poet. He was creative and adventurous when it came to his work. His greatest works are The Shepheardes Calendar and The Faerie Queene . Spenser became a great influence to several poets such as Milton and other romantics. In the end, Edmund Spenser became one of the greatest English poets of his time. The Faerie Queene is similar to works of Beowulf because of its Anglo Saxon epics. Also, Book I has a hint of classical and renaissance adventures. The Faerie Queene is a perfect combination of themes and motifs that was already introduced in other assignments. This makes Spenser s The Faerie Queene an epic poem. An epic poem is described as a long narrative in elevated style while presenting characters of high positions in adventures thus forming an organic whole through their relation to a central heroic figure and their development of events that play an important part to the history of a nation or race. Does she love him as her sisters do? Goneril and Regan give unabashedly extravagant answers that contain nothing more than empty flattery and meaningless words of love. However, Cordelia is the only daughter who gives an honest answer to his question. In the play King Lear, Cordelia responds, Unhappy that I am, I cannot heave/ My heart into my mouth. I love your majesty/ According to my bond; no more, no less (I.i.90 92). Cordelia accepts the king as her father and her sovereign, and she loves him accordingly, but he is not a God like figure to her. Honesty, in this instance, is more important to King Lear s youngest daughter, rather than ego stroking. When she answers that she cannot heave her heart into her mouth, she understands that she will not baste him in meaningless flattery just to gain his wealth. This is the moment in the play that Cordelia s virtue and love are revealed, setting into motion the idea that she is a Christ like figure. Ian Hunter, author of the Christian article Lear, Cordelia, the Cross presumes the play is more than just an allegory to parts of the Bible. He compares this play to John Milton s Paradise Lost. Lab Report Yeast Fermentation ABSTRACT The experiment performed was designed and processed to determine if yeast cells are able to undergo fermentation with other food molecules when enclosed in a fermentation tube with no oxygen. The yeast and food molecules were mixed together evenly and allowed to incubate for approximately one hour. The tests were then carried out to determine if respiration (anaerobic and aerobic) took place within the fermentation tubes. If there was any detection of carbon dioxide then that is an indicator of a respiration taking place. If there was any detection of ethanol then fermentation took place. If there was a presence of both carbon dioxide and ethanol, then respiration and fermentation took place. The process of fermentation uses more glucose and is much more inefficient compared to cellular respiration. During this experiment the positive control, glucose, guaranteed fermentation. My Research topic is a comparative study to evaluate the effectiveness of Bowen Technique and Positional Release Therapy on Trapezitis. Trapezitis is the inflammation of the trapezius muscle which gets aggravated by activity and even at rest. It is a very common condition seen in practically most of the individuals. Trapezitis has serious implications like neck pain, reduction in the range of motion, stiffness etc. It s very commonly seen in students, people working for long time on computers, Excessive driving etc. The positional release technique is one of the technique used in Physical Therapy which has been proven to help Trapezitis. Bowen Technique is a soft tissue manipulation Technique which is also found to be beneficial in pain reduction. There hasn t been a comparative study done on both the techniques.Hence I would like to do a comparative study to see which is more effective in Trapezitis. There is paucity in literature with regards to effectiveness of Bowens technique on Trapezitis. The less number of research articles on this topic facilitated me to conduct a study on this topic. This research study will help me clinically in applying the results of this study to my patients in the clinic. The incidence of neck pain is 3 5% population worldwide. • 38. Ancient Greece And Ancient Roman Empires Essay In today s time people always say that everything that seems to be new is just really something remade from the past. Throughout time and space works of art and literature spread around and are adapted to what a certain culture needs. This glocalizing means taking the original form and manipulating it so it can best fit the audience in which is viewing it. Whether it be translating something from one language to another or even completely changing something that was intended for adults so it could be easy for children to learn. Similarly, in the transition between the Ancient Greece and Ancient Roman Empires so many aspects of the Grecian culture is adapted by the Romans but they glocalize it in order to get more Romans on board with what the Greeks thought of. Even the Ancient Roman writer and philosopher Seneca glocalized Euripides play Hippolytus. Despite the five hundred year time difference between Euripides Hippolytus and Seneca s Phaedra, Seneca makes his best attempt to copy the play but including aspects of the Roman culture he lived in. The culture gap between Ancient Greece and Rome ultimately affects how the readers perceive the story and how different the two tales actually are. Between 30 and 40 C.E. Seneca s writing started becoming increasingly popular throughout the Roman Empire. On the other hand, many people did not support his philosophical ideas such as stoicism. • 40. Accounting And Its Effect On The Asset Of The Portfolio Depreciating assets over their useful lives, rather than just expensing them in the year they are acquired. When an asset such as new equipment is purchased by an organization, the seemingly obvious choice for reporting such an expense would be to record it entirely at the time of its purchase, and simply record income in the years following. This, however, is not the method used by accountants. Rather, they use a method of depreciating the asset. This basically means spreading the expense of the asset of the years of its useful life. This is the required method of accounting, according to the matching principle. This principle states that to record the entire expense the first year would skew the results of operations over the asset ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is for this reason that the depreciation expense is taken and added to overall net income at the end of each subsequent year. This method s use or value may not be apparent at first, but through its practice we see why this is the standard in regards to this area of financial reporting. Since the goal is to give the fairest representation of the financial position, at times adjustments such as these must be made. What equation describes the periodic inventory system? In a periodic inventory system, on hand items are tracked from time to time rather than continuously. This requires the company using the system to obtain a physical count at any time they must record the inventory. The equation used in this system takes the balance of the beginning inventory, plus all purchased items, and subtracting the ending balance. This formula determines the amount of inventory that was sold or used since the previous count was taken. For example, if a store hand a beginning inventory of 1,000 units, purchased an additional 4,000 units, and had an ending balance of 2,000 units, they have determined that 3,000 units were sold. The limitations of this system are that the company does not continuously know how many items are on hand, as well as the inability to know that one of the missing units was sold and not stolen, damaged, etc. This limits the company s abilities in ordering additional stock due to low ... • 43. The Plowman By Geoffrey Chaucer In his description of the characters, Chaucer emphasizes qualities such as attire and physical appearance as well as demeanor and content of character. For example, when Chaucer describes the Summoner he says His face on fire, like a cherubin, / For he had carbuncles. His eyes were narrow (l. 642 643). Moreover, in terms of describing a character s morality, Chaucer stated in regard to the Plowman that He was an honest worker, good and true, / Living in peace and perfect charity, / And, as the gospel bade him, so did he (l. 542 544). The description of the Plowman poses an ironic mockery of social standards within the Medieval society and church. A person should have the desire to serve others, in order to be a servant leader. The following paper will address several key components of the servant leadership philosophy related to the book: The Servant: A Simple Story About the True Essence of Leadership, written by James C.
