Liver Biopsy Essay
Liver biopsy is a technique used to determine the degree of liver diseases.1 It is done when liver blood
tests are abnormal and can be performed by using a small needle to remove a minute part of the liver
tissue.1This is then viewed with the aid of a microscope to find out the cause of the disease and the
length of scarring of the liver. It can be helpful in examining the effectiveness of several treatments.1
TYPES OF LIVER BIOPSY
There are different ways liver biopsy can be performed. These include the fine needle liver aspiration,
transvenous biopsy, laparoscopic biopsy and percutaneous biopsy.3 Each of the different methods has
advantages and disadvantages.3
Percutaneous Biopsy
This is the usual method, in which a liver tissue is taken by introducing a needle into the liver for a
little period of time.1 The area to be injected is anesthetized and a syringe is inserted swiftly into and
out of the liver.1 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This helps to locate the position of tumour and target the needle s insertion into the liver under direct
supervision.2 This method is allied with small risk of seeding of the needle tract with cancerous cells
and it is commonly a harmless method, even in patients with haemangioma cyst.1
Laparoscopic Biopsy
This is carried out at the point a patient is about to get an abdominal surgery. This allows the surgeon
to examine the liver and take tissue sample as needed.3
Transvenous Biopsy
An interventional radiologist may carry out Transvenous biopsy. 1This normally occurs when the
patient has a major problem with clotting of the blood. 1To do this; a minute tube is introduced into
the neck and radiologically led into the hepatic vein, which makes the liver dry.1A tiny biopsy syringe
is then introduced via the tube and straight into the liver to get a sample of tissue.

How Global Economic Environment Is Affecting International...
How Global Economic Environment is affecting International Marketers? By Md. Jafar Sadique,
MBA, Southeast University Bangladesh
1. Introduction:
International business is taking different shades and is unavoidable today. This dynamic world is
rapidly changing to the extent that is has been reduced to a Global village .
The truth is, we are going through the most severe global financial crisis since the days of Great
Depression. Originated in USA, economic recession is affecting all the major players of world
economy. Governments and major policy makers of world economy have taken notice of the urgency
of the situation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the years, many banks in the US started the practice of offering home loans to high risk
individuals, i.e., individuals who had a high probability of defaulting on their loans. The banks
justified this move by saying that even if these individuals defaulted on their loans, the amount could
be recovered by selling off the property in question.
Over a period of time, many of these individuals defaulted on their payments, as was expected, and
the banks put the properties back on the market. However, when so many properties were put on sale
at the same time, the property prices, which were already over inflated to begin with, plummeted. The
unprecedented drop in property rates proved fatal for banks that had already invested most of their
money in these speculative deals, and they were forced to close down.
The collapse of these banks is just one of the indicative causes of the present recession. The roots of
this recession can be said to lie in over inflated property prices, oil prices, and commodity prices.
Artificially inflated prices are typical of a profitable market. When the market is doing well, the sellers
eventually become greedy and raise the prices. All is well, as long as the buyers continue to be able to
afford the inflated prices. However, the day the prices reach a level where the majority of the buyers
cannot afford them, a crash in the prices, and consequently a recession, is inevitable.

Global governance institutions, from the International...
Global governance institutions, from the International Monetary Fund to the World Trade
Organization, are little loved. They are often perceived as bastions of sclerotic mediocrity at best and
outright corruption at worst. In the wake of the 2008 financial crash, Daniel W. Drezner, like so many
others, observed the smoking ruins of the global economy and wondered the extent to which global
governance institutions have affected the post recession, international system.
In The System Worked, Drezner contends that despite the massive scale and reverberations of this
latest crisis (larger, as he argues, than those that precipitated the Great Depression), the global
economy has bounced back remarkably well. Examining the major resuscitation ... Show more content

Conceptually, Denzer appears to conflate the phases of violence, discrediting the belief that violence
transpires through stages. In a Denzerian world, the international system is bifurcated between
violence and nonviolence. In his assessment of financial resilience through public sentiments, Denzer
s overinvestment in evidence that measures peace through actual violence versus potential violence
discredits various disputes that have escalated diplomatically, but have yet to turn violent. Denzer
supposes that all liberalizing change must involve varying degrees of violence, ipso facto breaching a
threshold of peace. Denzer profoundly overlooks the generally peaceful regime changes in Egypt and
Tunisia, which, like so many others, were predominantly led by civil disobedience, civil resistance,
and online activism, rarely intensifying into violent demonstrations. Denzer s assessment also misses
cold or still conflicts, whose underlying causes and historic underpinnings have surfaced amid the ever
competitive, protectionist nature following Great Recession. Take for example China and Japan s
diplomatic clash over the contested Senkaku Islands. For four decades, Chinese and Japanese
grievances have been reshaped in light of new regional expectations and financial conditions. In Japan

Business Management Essays
Business Management The world of business has undergone radical and dramatic changes in the last
decade changes that present extraordinary challenges for the contemporary manager. A manager is an
organizational member who is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the
activities of the organization so that the goals can be achieved. According to a widely referenced study
by Henry Mintzberg, managers serve three primary roles: interpersonal, informational, and decision
making. Management is process of administrating and coordinating resources effectively and
efficiently in an effort to achieve the goals of the organization. The concept of management within an
organization typically occurs in an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Controlling is monitoring the performance of the organization, identifying deviations between planned
and actual results, and taking corrective action when necessary. With all these four functions that are
involved in the process of management, if all are followed correctly the organization will be properly
ran and will have few complications. In every organization there are managers, and every manager is
classed on different levels in terms of the skills they need and the activities they are involved in.
Managers exist at various levels in the organization hierarchy. A small organization may have one
layer of management, where as a large organization may have several. In most organizations there are
three level of managers. The three level of managers are, first line manager, middle manager, and
finally the top level manager. Managers at different job levels have different job responsibilities and
therefor require different skills. First line managers supervise the individuals who are directly
responsible for producing the organization s product or delivering its service. They carry titles such as
production supervisor, line manager, section chief, or account manager. First line managers along with
all the other managers are involved in three skills conceptual, human, and technical. In each three
different levels of management, each one of these

Censorship Of A Wide Range Of Books
From fiction to nonfiction, from romance to horror, from children s to adults, and from classics to
newcomers, censorship of a wide range of books is becoming more popular. Many forget how much
influence a person can receive through the words in a book or the pictures throughout a story. The
issue of morally destructive and offensive literature has become a common concern among people
worldwide. However, the banning of certain books can be looked at in two completely different ways:
protecting the precious minds of humankind, young or old, or forbidding those minds from reading the
particular topics that were put in place to be learned. Regardless of the content inside of them, books
are the greatest teachers in the world. Why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, just because people do not agree with each other or with what is being said, that is not a
reason to take it all away. Taking away books based on their content provides this idea that people are
wrong in expressing their ideas and that they do not have a right to speak their mind and show their
individuality. Parents, educators, librarians, and the government would beg to differ because they
believe some books can be harmful to the mind. These poisonous factors would include racism,
profanity, sex, violence, religion and so many other themes. Not all people are affected and
challenging these themes, so it is not fair to take them away just because some people do not approve.
It is important for the mind to learn about these topics because the world is not filled with all
positives. Being aware of the negatives in the world and learning lessons from them is quite important
to those young and old. Prohibiting books from people will not do them any good; let them self censor
and choose what they like and do not like to explore instead of taking away their privileges all
together. Although many would say that a book serves as the greatest teacher a person could have,
many do not realize how great of a best friend that a book could essentially be. Books act as an outlet
and safe haven for many people based on how they relate to the content it contains. Readers often
understand the message behind a story or the characters in that story by comparing what

Canadian Fur Trade During The Canadian Economy
The Canadian fur trade played a key role in the development of Canada as a country in many ways,
largely because of the growing need for furs by women overseas. The fur trade acted as the early
foundation of the Canadian economy. The trade increased international trade and consequence acted as
a driver of extending the exploration of the vast Canadian wilderness much further than would
otherwise have occurred. Concurrently, one of the more important outcomes of the fur trade was that it
acted as the catalyst increasing the relationship between the European and First Nations People.
Often overlooked in Canadian history, for their role in the fur trade, are the First Nation women, who
were key contributors to the expansion and success of fur trading. Many of the European fur traders
upon arriving on Canadian soil ended up having sexual relationships with First Nation women; often
leading to marriage. While such marriages were to be expected in remote locations there were
additional incentives for the men since the marriage to First Nation women brought many other
benefits to the fur traders: for example, women possessed a skill set and knowledge of the land which
was unknown to the traders; the woman could act as a mediator and translator between the fur traders
and the First Nations tribes; and in many cases the marriages enabled the expansion of their trading
territories through new First Nations partners.
In a more fulsome analysis, these marriages had an immense economic

Volcanic Hazards
Volcanic Hazards (APA) Volcanic Hazards (Order #A2086670) Living in the shadow of a volcano can
be a dangerous proposition. A volcanic eruption, and there have been hundreds in the history of the
United States, can range from slowly oozing lava to massive eruptions and explosions causing
devastation over hundreds of square miles of territory. While many people associate volcanic activity
with the flowing of lava, as is common in the Hawaiian Islands, lava is rarely associated with being
hazardous to humans. Lava simply moves too slowly for people to be caught by it. However, there are
many other types of activities associated with volcanic eruptions that are more hazardous to human
beings. The enormous heat that comes from material from deep inside the Earth is a more common
cause of death than lava, as too is the suffocating cloud of ash and debris that is often blown out from
the volcano during violent, explosive eruptions. This cloud of ash and debris is often carried by toxic
and deadly gasses, including carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, as well as chlorine, hydrogen, and argon.
(Lutgen, 2011, p. 213) And the force of the blast that can come from an exploding volcano can hurl
people long distances to their deaths. Volcanoes which erupt violently commonly hurl pulverized rock,
lava, and glass fragments from the vent, called pyroclastic materials . (Lutgen, 2011, p. 213) These
materials, shot into the atmosphere, can then fuse to form rocks, called welded stuff

4 Styles Of Humor Style
Humor is often considered as a powerful weapon, although it should be used with caution. There is
appropriate humor which dissipates tension; and inappropriate humor which provokes tension (Meeus
and Mahieu, 2009). A humor style is defined as the type of humor an individual typically practices
when interacting with others (Preeus and Sweeny, 2013). Martin et al. (2003) proposed a model of
humor styles comprising of four different styles of humor which are independent of each other. These
humor styles are based on whether humor is: used to enhance either the self or others, and adaptive
versus maladaptive for the self or others THE TWO ADAPTIVE STYLES OF HUMOR ARE: 1.

The maladaptive humor which is directed towards one s self in order to gain the approval of others is
referred to as self defeating humor. It involves attempts to amuse others at one s own expense by using
humor in a self disparaging way i. e. excessively critical and ridiculing of one s self. Individuals with
this humor style often allow themselves to be the butt of jokes, and laugh along when they are
disparaged by others, in the hopes of gaining others approval and acceptance. This humor style is used
to enhance relationships with others, but at the expense of positive feelings about self. It also involves
the use of humor as a form of defensive denial, to hide one s underlying negative feelings or avoid
dealing constructively with problems (Martin et. al., 2003, Martin, 2007). According to Yerlikaya
(2007), this humor style is used by an individual without considering the humor and his/her own
needs. An example which typifies this humor style is when an individual behaves happy and defies
his/her own feelings when

John Augustine s Confessing And Recounting Moments
Saint Augustine, also known as Augustine of Hippo, was born on 354 AD in a North African county in
present day Algeria. Throughout of his life, Augustine has endured a lot of hard ships and lessons that
he wanted to share with others. He decided in 397 AD to compose an autobiographical book
confessing and recounting moments in his life. Confessions by Saint Augustine are a 13 book series
comprised of Augustine s life and how he became to be one of the most important priests during his
time.
During Book I, Augustine recalls his childhood and how it was like growing up and turning into a
young man. He begins his book in an opening prayer, praising his lord and raises the question how can
we see God if we do not know who he is. He mentions how anything that exists and creation contains
God because he created the Earth. This answers to the question answers how Augustine found God in
a sense that, he saw others around him and believed that God was present in everything he has done.
An example given in his book is how the comforts of human milk were waiting for him, but God gave
him the milk in his mother s breast to nourish him. This is in accordance to the plan of creation.
He later recalls his and other babies experience with crying and pouting for the milk. Augustine
believes that babies are not innocent because the get jealous and sin. The only innocent feature on a
baby is their frame. He is using babies as a metaphor in saying that all humans are born with original
sin.

Writing In The Age Of Distraction Cory Doctorow Summary
The article Writing in the Age of Distraction by Cory Doctorow is an article talking about how the
Internet is often misconceived as a place where procrastination comes alive. In said article, Doctorow
makes a detailed list on how he manages to avoid procrastination and get work done, while still using
the Internet. The first step he lists is setting a goal for yourself and sticking with it. Choose a number
of words or number of pages you want to type for that day and aim for it. Do not stop before you reach
that goal. Similarly, Doctorow says, once you do reach that goal, stop for the day. Stop in the middle
of your sentence even, so that the next time you sit down to work, you know where to start from. In
his exact words, Doctorow states:
When you hit your daily word goal, stop. Stop even if you re in the middle of a sentence. Especially if
you re in the middle of a sentence. That way, when you sit down at the keyboard the next day, your
first five or ten words are already ordained, so that you get a little push before you begin your work.
(Doctorow) He then says that when you are actually sitting down to work, you need to stop
researching. One of the easiest ways to get sidetracked while working is by getting distracted by
information that isn t important for your assignment, but seem relevant at the time. Set aside specific
time for research so you don t end up procrastinating when you should be working. Another tip
Doctorow gives is to remember not to get distracted using your word processor. Doing things like
playing with the font or debating over which color your words should be in will only kill valuable
time. Turning off your cell phone and ignoring social media notifications is also a great way of
making sure you don t end up wasting your own time.
I choose to write about Doctorow s article because I often find myself getting distracted both before
and during the process of writing a paper. Much like Doctorow, I d been instructed by several high
school teachers to stay away from the Internet while writing so I didn t divert my attention away from
the assignment I was supposed to be working on. During the first three years of high school, I
followed this advice almost religiously, and even went so far

The Battle Of The Midway
The Battle of Midway The battle of midway was arguably the most important battle in the pacific
because it shifted the tides of WWII from and American defensive to an American offensive in the
Pacific. Midway Island is located in the North Pacific Ocean, 2010km (1250 mi) northwest of

such a small island, the battle was one of the largest of WWII. The Battle of Midway occurred only six

the people involved. Historians say that the Japanese plan was extremely complicated, consisting of

The Stage Of Anticipatory Socialization Process
The chapter that I wrote is socialization process. After my research and study, I have more
understanding the meaning of socialization process. Socialization is the lifelong procedure of
communication through which people gain a self personality and the physical, mental, and social
aptitudes required for survival in the public arena (Hilyer, 2015). It is the procedure of adaptation.
Moreover, socialization likewise is the way toward learning and internalizing the values, convictions,
and norms of our social group and by which we get to be working individuals from society. The
socialization process starts in outset and is particular profitable once a youngster starts to comprehend
and utilize language (Greene, 2015). In view of the elements in socialization, we have a tendency to
have diverse identities in spite of the fact that we are living in a similar society. For instance, the ...

anticipatory socialization as an apparatus to assess regardless of whether they will be suited to another

Motor Rehabilitation
3. Understanding motor learning applied to rehabilitation
The ability to walk may be compromised after damage to structures of the neural system due to a
spinal cord injury (SCI) or a stroke. Frequently, patients in rehabilitation have an altered neural control
leading to an inaccurate, slow or inefficient performance of the movement (Bastian, 2008). Thus, a
main goal in the walking rehabilitation process is to learn how to perform a movement again,
recovering motor function, by incorporating motor learning principles into this process (Sawers et al.,
2012). Learning has been defined as ...a relative permanent change, resulting from practice or a novel
experience in the capability for responding (Guthrie, 1952). Additionally, some authors consider motor
learning to be a loose term that includes motor adaptation, skill acquisition, and decision making
(Kitago Krakauer, 2013).
In a broad view the learning process can be described in five main phases: fast, slow, consolidation,
automatic, and retention. During the fast stage, a major increase in performance occurs. In the slow
stage, the gains in performance occurs via practice. After an interval time period, consolidation is
observed without additional practice. Then, in the automatic phase, minimal ... Show more content on

develop a company s core products and services, those products and services that will gives the
business a competitive advantage over and over to other businesses and are significant for the long
term growth of the company. Core competencies are what give a company one or more competitive
advantages, in creating and delivering value to its customers in its chosen field. Also called core
capabilities or distinctive competencies. Core competencies are usually not only limited for a single
process, but it for a combination of processes, technologies and skills. Core competency arises from
the integration of different shares of the business, such as design with technological innovation. For

electronics are core competencies for those companies. A core competency should assist the company

Essay on Constantinople s Fall
Diocletian s reforms established the rule of four, called the Tetrarchy, where in four emperors
controlled the newly redistricted Roman Empire. Unbeknownst to Diocletian this particular reform
would be a recipe for civil war. In the year 306, one year after Diocletian abdicated, Constantine I
elevated to imperial rule over the western Empire after the passing of his father and then Augustus;
Constantius. During Constantine s reign he quickly gained popularity and consolidated his power
while the rest of the emperors competed and quarreled amongst each other. Eventually the empire was
overtaken strategically by two emperors Licinius and Constantine. This peace did not last long
however, and in the year of 324 Licinius surrendered to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Constantinople s evident luxury was not the most surprising aspect of this metropolis, but its ability to
endure was. By medieval standards it was a huge city, with something around 375,000 inhabitants in
1200 (Harris 108). Constantine the Great introduced a new gold coin called the solidus that was made
standard for not only Byzantium but all of the Mediterranean. To keep this infrastructure going, the
tried and true taxation of the people was a necessity. In any instance taxation is a burden but paying
taxes insured circulation of even the most valuable of coins to any ones hand. Value and rarity also
drove policy making in this area of the Mediterranean, so much so that garments and fabrics were
reserved for classes of society and in extreme cases solely to the Byzantines. Concisely
Constantinople and its wealth have sustained due to its prime trade route real estate and its goods, the
inhabitants not only knew this but let it instigated their social conceptions of themselves. Culture in
Constantinople was an amazing thing; artist, writers, and architects exerted a powerful cultural pull
and dominated economic life in the Mediterranean. Travelers and merchants were especially spurred
by the monasteries and churches. Hagia Sophia or the Church of Holy Wisdom A Russian 14th century
traveler, Stephen of Novgorod, wrote, As for St Sophia, the human mind can neither tell it nor make

compassionate and caring towards everyone. He used his gifts and skills in order to help create a
better society. Wilberforce was very strong in character as he had very strong morals and always knew

Barbara scrutinizes the hackneyed society standards of consumerism, greed, sex, religion, and gender.

away from mass media judgement. Taking a closer look at Barbara s childhood and early training, her
brand of artistry, and how the world responds to her unparalleled pieces is the key to gaining insight as

Barbara Kruger s artwork has caught the attention of mass media for many reasons. Many believe her
artwork is repugnant, obnoxious, and too forward. Some go as far to say that it disrupts the
environment in which it is displayed. In Ana Balona de Olivera s article Jam Life into Death , she
speaks on how Kruger uses explicitly and violence in order to raise attention to hidden social violence,
Barbara Kruger s work is discussed as an exploration of the ambivalently hidden violence of the

Advantage Of Polished Concrete Floor
Concrete Floor
Concrete floor is one of the most durable materials in the world. It can be made with waste products
which help to reduce the consumption of valuable materials. It also can be made from fly ash, slag
cement, and silica fume, all waste byproducts from steel mills, power plants and other manufacturing
facilities.
There are the several types of concrete floor styles that can be stamped, stained and polished. But the
choice for the employee locker room will be a polished concrete floor. For my opinion, polished floor
will be suitable because it is economical, durable, versatile, affordable, low maintenance and is a long
lasting floor as show in figure 1 (Ref.1). Polished concrete floor is made from an aggregate (rocks,
river stones and granite chips) which is mixed with a cement binder such as limestone, calcium,
sulphate and water.

But unfortunately, it has an awful reputation because of the products on the market that have been

Margery Kempe Mysticism
The book of Margery Kempe is widely considered to be the first English Autobiography. It details the
life of Margery Kempe a middle class woman who lived during the late medieval period with special
attention being paid to her activities as a mystic. In addition the various pilgrimages she undertook are
covered in detail and come to fill a good part of the autobiography. Being considered the first english
autobiography also raises some questions about the work, such as whether or not it is truly an
autobiography as well as how the religious mysticism present in the text is portrayed. In addition to
these questions the work can also provides a view into the the restrictions society placed upon women
of the era and whether or not the author s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The religious mysticism of Margery Kempe is one of the central themes presented in the text being
present from the initial chapters and serving as the catalyst for many events that occur throughout the
work. The portrayal of Kempe s religious mysticism is primarily positive with most conflict being
used to support and showcase her mysticism. Typically these conflicts revolve around the skepticism
and disbelief by those who doubt her abilities sometimes even being called a heretic. These skeptics
usually then encounter an event focused around Margery that changes their mind turning them into
argent supporters. An example of this from early in the work is Margery s encounter with a monk of
renown who is described as despising her. This same monk later comes to support her after she tells
him of the sins he has committed despite having no prior knowledge of them. In addition to the
portrayal of her mysticism the question of whether it appears to be based more upon logic or emotion
arises. Based upon the evidence present in the text one can conclude that her mysticism is primarily
based on emotion. The language use in the text is the strongest evidence for this conclusion with a
good example coming in the sixty fourth chapter of the first book. Words such as love, sweet, and joy
are used several times throughout the chapter emphasizing the emotion present in her mysticism. In
addition to the language use Kempe s refusal to avoid situations that would be complicated by her
mysticism serves as additional evidence. One such event occurred during her travels when she clashed
repeatedly with her companions over her weeping causing them to be harsh with her. The logical
action in this situation would be to try and appease her companions in order to make the journey more
bearable. Kempe however does not do this, instead making the emotional

An Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Cathedral
A Cynics Enlightenment
Raymond Carver s short story Cathedral is outwardly about a pessimistic man, whose wife s blind
visitor named Robert changes the narrators predisposing perception of the world and awakes a new
view on life in the process. But inwardly, the story is about the desperate need for connection between
these three characters, which isn t feasible do to the emotional detachment by the narrator. In the
beginning, the narrator is hindered by his prejudices which doesn t allow him connect to anything
greater than himself. But with the help of the blind man who is able to see the greater truth, since he s
incapable of having his perception distorted based on outer appearance; allows him to teach the
narrator the difference between looking and seeing. Carver is proclaiming that when we open
ourselves to new ways of connecting with others, and new ways of viewing at the world, we can have
hugely rewarding experiences.
The Cathedral defines what it really means to be blind . First, being the blind man who literally cannot
see because he is disabled. And then what it means to be emotionally blind like the narrator. The
narrator possesses very shallow, ignorant, and careless qualities which then makes him form harsh
prejudices upon people. And that s the root to his blinders. And him having these prejudices denies
him of connecting with anyone or anything, then distancing him from the world. He generalizes all of
his opinions, making him believe if you ve seen

Negative Stereotypes In Society
Stereotypes are assumptions or generalizations that people think and label a particular person as
belonging to a group based on how they look in terms of gender, race, ethnicity, and other categories.
Stereotypes are a big problem in our society because they have a negative impact and can be
damaging to a person s emotions. Thus, any stereotype on individuals can be viewed as wrong
because in the end we are judging them. I was stereotyped as a thief because some people assumed I
was stealing. As a result, I was affected by this because if they stopped to see what I was actually
doing, they would have seen I was buying a box to give someone a present.
Stereotypes are one of the most terrible mistakes that many people have because their critique. Most
people, even young or old, were grouped with either positive or negative stereotypes; which actually
do not fit for everyone. Some Vietnamese people mainly immigrants, international students, or tourists
are criticized dishonesty and greed. It might be so wrong to use that identify into any specific
situation. In reality, I was stereotyped on that category at the day I went to the Daiso store to find a gift
box for my friend s present. I tried to estimate how big the box should I buy, so I put sandals that I just
bought from H M store into many different boxes. Finally, I chose a hard box which is covered by

Christian Worldview Research Paper

tries to use to understand the world around them. A presupposition affects how we believe and reflect
on how we view Politics, Science, and our ethics. A Christian world view helps us to interpret God,

worldview whether they think it or not there isn t such a think as worldview neutral because believing

The Ethics Of Computers With Ai
In recent years, advancements in robotics has been bringing humans and machines to work together.
Many autonomous systems are being used for variety of things. Robots can be used for simple tasks
like mowing the lawn and vacuuming to advanced tasks like self driving vehicles. Many of these
robots are given artificial intelligence (AI). Development of AI has recently become a major topic
among philosophers and engineers. One major concern is the ethics of computers with AI. Robot
ethics (roboethics) is an area of study about rules that should be created to ensure that robots behave
ethically. Humans are morally obligated to ensure that machines with artificial intelligence behave
ethically. In the 1940s, science fiction author Isaac ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then it could run a near infinite number of scenarios where the action could become a universal law.
If they robot could accomplish the task, then it morally permissible to act on the maxim. Having a
robot that follows the first formulation would also benefit humans. The robot could assist humans by
running many scenarios. This would be a good starting point for when an AI needs to make a decision.
Rules can be implemented easily since they are categorical. Another approach would be to teach the
robot how to respond in situations. The response would need to have an ethical outcome. The method
is similar to how humans learn morality. The robot would learn right from wrong. This approach can
be effective as long as the teacher acts ethically. Robots could also take an Act Utilitarianism approach
to decision making. A robot could run an algorithm to maximize overall happiness. An AI would
quantify the happiness that each action would cause and then compare the results. Robots can do the
calculations to estimate the amount of happiness that a decision could create a lot faster than humans
can. This system could work if nobody is killed or harmed. The rules and laws that govern humans
would need to be taken into account. This would ensure that the AI makes an ethical decision. The
creation of AIs also needs to be

The Dark Age Of The Dark Ages
What is the first thing you think about when I say dark age? Is it chaos? Disease? Poverty? Death?
Well, you re on the right track. A dark age meant that there was very little culture, was repeatedly
invaded, had no government and a bad economy, and of course, a miserable place to live. It was
between 400 and 1400 AD in Europe, that was supposed to be called a dark age. While most of that
did happen in Europe, it s not entirely barbaric. In fact, around the end of that time period, many
things that were taken from Europe was restored. Art and education were restored around the 14th
century. Food and technology were improved around that time period as well. Even laws were restored
back in order so that society could be stable. So yes, I do believe that what you call a dark age, wasn t
really dark because food access and farmland was restored with the add on of having clever
contraptions to support the labor around the farm work, the government was strong enough to make
certain laws, and innovations were being advanced. One of the reasons why Europe in the 400 to 1400
wasn t a dark age is how there was access to enough food, tools, and farmland. One piece of evidence
that shows that farmland and food were available is in a textbook called, World History Before 1600:
The Development of Early Civilization. One excerpt states, From 1000 to 1300, the economy of
Europe developed and prospered. Available farmland tripled, and the food supply increased notably

Gilgamesh s Death Of Gilgamesh

towards his weakness and frailty as a human, but he discovers another route to acquire immortality at
the end. Gilgamesh travels to seek the answer to immortality from Utanapishtim, but Gilgamesh is too
weak to withstand the test of becoming immortal. Gilgamesh is an arrogant king, and worshiping gods
was prevalent during his lifetime. Although Gilgamesh is two thirds god, the one third god of him will
result in Gilgamesh dying from human delicacy. Following Enkidu s death, Gilgamesh travels in
search of the puzzling answer to immortality. He battles with the realization that he will one day suffer
death, like Enkidu. During this time, it was believed that when people die their spirits go to an awful
place. Death is not seen as peaceful. This could be why Gilgamesh presented feelings of extreme
discontent with the realization that he is not immortal. As Gilgamesh approaches Utanapishtim,
Gilgamesh expects to see a man that is godly and strong. Gilgamesh realizes that Utanapishtim seems
normal and frail like him. Gilgamesh was perplexed to realize that Utanapishtim was granted
immortality because there was nothing unique about him that Gilgamesh could see.

  • 2. Liver Biopsy Essay Liver biopsy is a technique used to determine the degree of liver diseases.1 It is done when liver blood tests are abnormal and can be performed by using a small needle to remove a minute part of the liver tissue.1This is then viewed with the aid of a microscope to find out the cause of the disease and the length of scarring of the liver. It can be helpful in examining the effectiveness of several treatments.1 TYPES OF LIVER BIOPSY There are different ways liver biopsy can be performed. These include the fine needle liver aspiration, transvenous biopsy, laparoscopic biopsy and percutaneous biopsy.3 Each of the different methods has advantages and disadvantages.3 Percutaneous Biopsy This is the usual method, in which a liver tissue is taken by introducing a needle into the liver for a little period of time.1 The area to be injected is anesthetized and a syringe is inserted swiftly into and out of the liver.1 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This helps to locate the position of tumour and target the needle s insertion into the liver under direct supervision.2 This method is allied with small risk of seeding of the needle tract with cancerous cells and it is commonly a harmless method, even in patients with haemangioma cyst.1 Laparoscopic Biopsy This is carried out at the point a patient is about to get an abdominal surgery. This allows the surgeon to examine the liver and take tissue sample as needed.3 Transvenous Biopsy An interventional radiologist may carry out Transvenous biopsy. 1This normally occurs when the patient has a major problem with clotting of the blood. 1To do this; a minute tube is introduced into the neck and radiologically led into the hepatic vein, which makes the liver dry.1A tiny biopsy syringe is then introduced via the tube and straight into the liver to get a sample of tissue. ... • 3. How Global Economic Environment Is Affecting International... How Global Economic Environment is affecting International Marketers? By Md. Jafar Sadique, MBA, Southeast University Bangladesh 1. Introduction: International business is taking different shades and is unavoidable today. This dynamic world is rapidly changing to the extent that is has been reduced to a Global village . The truth is, we are going through the most severe global financial crisis since the days of Great Depression. Originated in USA, economic recession is affecting all the major players of world economy. Governments and major policy makers of world economy have taken notice of the urgency of the situation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over the years, many banks in the US started the practice of offering home loans to high risk individuals, i.e., individuals who had a high probability of defaulting on their loans. The banks justified this move by saying that even if these individuals defaulted on their loans, the amount could be recovered by selling off the property in question. Over a period of time, many of these individuals defaulted on their payments, as was expected, and the banks put the properties back on the market. However, when so many properties were put on sale at the same time, the property prices, which were already over inflated to begin with, plummeted. The unprecedented drop in property rates proved fatal for banks that had already invested most of their money in these speculative deals, and they were forced to close down. The collapse of these banks is just one of the indicative causes of the present recession. The roots of this recession can be said to lie in over inflated property prices, oil prices, and commodity prices. Artificially inflated prices are typical of a profitable market. When the market is doing well, the sellers eventually become greedy and raise the prices. All is well, as long as the buyers continue to be able to afford the inflated prices. However, the day the prices reach a level where the majority of the buyers cannot afford them, a crash in the prices, and consequently a recession, is inevitable. 3. • 4. Global governance institutions, from the International... Global governance institutions, from the International Monetary Fund to the World Trade Organization, are little loved. They are often perceived as bastions of sclerotic mediocrity at best and outright corruption at worst. In the wake of the 2008 financial crash, Daniel W. Drezner, like so many others, observed the smoking ruins of the global economy and wondered the extent to which global governance institutions have affected the post recession, international system. In The System Worked, Drezner contends that despite the massive scale and reverberations of this latest crisis (larger, as he argues, than those that precipitated the Great Depression), the global economy has bounced back remarkably well. Examining the major resuscitation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conceptually, Denzer appears to conflate the phases of violence, discrediting the belief that violence transpires through stages. In a Denzerian world, the international system is bifurcated between violence and nonviolence. In his assessment of financial resilience through public sentiments, Denzer s overinvestment in evidence that measures peace through actual violence versus potential violence discredits various disputes that have escalated diplomatically, but have yet to turn violent. Denzer supposes that all liberalizing change must involve varying degrees of violence, ipso facto breaching a threshold of peace. Denzer profoundly overlooks the generally peaceful regime changes in Egypt and Tunisia, which, like so many others, were predominantly led by civil disobedience, civil resistance, and online activism, rarely intensifying into violent demonstrations. Denzer s assessment also misses cold or still conflicts, whose underlying causes and historic underpinnings have surfaced amid the ever competitive, protectionist nature following Great Recession. Take for example China and Japan s diplomatic clash over the contested Senkaku Islands. For four decades, Chinese and Japanese grievances have been reshaped in light of new regional expectations and financial conditions. In Japan s case, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Business Management Essays Business Management The world of business has undergone radical and dramatic changes in the last decade changes that present extraordinary challenges for the contemporary manager. A manager is an organizational member who is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the activities of the organization so that the goals can be achieved. According to a widely referenced study by Henry Mintzberg, managers serve three primary roles: interpersonal, informational, and decision making. Management is process of administrating and coordinating resources effectively and efficiently in an effort to achieve the goals of the organization. The concept of management within an organization typically occurs in an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Controlling is monitoring the performance of the organization, identifying deviations between planned and actual results, and taking corrective action when necessary. With all these four functions that are involved in the process of management, if all are followed correctly the organization will be properly ran and will have few complications. In every organization there are managers, and every manager is classed on different levels in terms of the skills they need and the activities they are involved in. Managers exist at various levels in the organization hierarchy. A small organization may have one layer of management, where as a large organization may have several. In most organizations there are three level of managers. The three level of managers are, first line manager, middle manager, and finally the top level manager. Managers at different job levels have different job responsibilities and therefor require different skills. First line managers supervise the individuals who are directly responsible for producing the organization s product or delivering its service. They carry titles such as production supervisor, line manager, section chief, or account manager. First line managers along with all the other managers are involved in three skills conceptual, human, and technical. In each three different levels of management, each one of these ... • 6. Censorship Of A Wide Range Of Books From fiction to nonfiction, from romance to horror, from children s to adults, and from classics to newcomers, censorship of a wide range of books is becoming more popular. Many forget how much influence a person can receive through the words in a book or the pictures throughout a story. The issue of morally destructive and offensive literature has become a common concern among people worldwide. However, the banning of certain books can be looked at in two completely different ways: protecting the precious minds of humankind, young or old, or forbidding those minds from reading the particular topics that were put in place to be learned. Regardless of the content inside of them, books are the greatest teachers in the world. Why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, just because people do not agree with each other or with what is being said, that is not a reason to take it all away. Taking away books based on their content provides this idea that people are wrong in expressing their ideas and that they do not have a right to speak their mind and show their individuality. Parents, educators, librarians, and the government would beg to differ because they believe some books can be harmful to the mind. These poisonous factors would include racism, profanity, sex, violence, religion and so many other themes. Not all people are affected and challenging these themes, so it is not fair to take them away just because some people do not approve. It is important for the mind to learn about these topics because the world is not filled with all positives. Being aware of the negatives in the world and learning lessons from them is quite important to those young and old. Prohibiting books from people will not do them any good; let them self censor and choose what they like and do not like to explore instead of taking away their privileges all together. • 7. Canadian Fur Trade During The Canadian Economy The Canadian fur trade played a key role in the development of Canada as a country in many ways, largely because of the growing need for furs by women overseas. The fur trade acted as the early foundation of the Canadian economy. The trade increased international trade and consequence acted as a driver of extending the exploration of the vast Canadian wilderness much further than would otherwise have occurred. Concurrently, one of the more important outcomes of the fur trade was that it acted as the catalyst increasing the relationship between the European and First Nations People. Often overlooked in Canadian history, for their role in the fur trade, are the First Nation women, who were key contributors to the expansion and success of fur trading. Many of the European fur traders upon arriving on Canadian soil ended up having sexual relationships with First Nation women; often leading to marriage. While such marriages were to be expected in remote locations there were additional incentives for the men since the marriage to First Nation women brought many other benefits to the fur traders: for example, women possessed a skill set and knowledge of the land which was unknown to the traders; the woman could act as a mediator and translator between the fur traders and the First Nations tribes; and in many cases the marriages enabled the expansion of their trading territories through new First Nations partners. In a more fulsome analysis, these marriages had an immense economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Volcanic Hazards Volcanic Hazards (APA) Volcanic Hazards (Order #A2086670) Living in the shadow of a volcano can be a dangerous proposition. A volcanic eruption, and there have been hundreds in the history of the United States, can range from slowly oozing lava to massive eruptions and explosions causing devastation over hundreds of square miles of territory. While many people associate volcanic activity with the flowing of lava, as is common in the Hawaiian Islands, lava is rarely associated with being hazardous to humans. Lava simply moves too slowly for people to be caught by it. However, there are many other types of activities associated with volcanic eruptions that are more hazardous to human beings. The enormous heat that comes from material from deep inside the Earth is a more common cause of death than lava, as too is the suffocating cloud of ash and debris that is often blown out from the volcano during violent, explosive eruptions. This cloud of ash and debris is often carried by toxic and deadly gasses, including carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, as well as chlorine, hydrogen, and argon. (Lutgen, 2011, p. 213) And the force of the blast that can come from an exploding volcano can hurl people long distances to their deaths. Volcanoes which erupt violently commonly hurl pulverized rock, lava, and glass fragments from the vent, called pyroclastic materials . (Lutgen, 2011, p. 213) These materials, shot into the atmosphere, can then fuse to form rocks, called welded stuff ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is appropriate humor which dissipates tension; and inappropriate humor which provokes tension (Meeus and Mahieu, 2009). A humor style is defined as the type of humor an individual typically practices when interacting with others (Preeus and Sweeny, 2013). Martin et al. (2003) proposed a model of humor styles comprising of four different styles of humor which are independent of each other. The maladaptive humor which is directed towards one s self in order to gain the approval of others is referred to as self defeating humor. It involves attempts to amuse others at one s own expense by using humor in a self disparaging way i. e. excessively critical and ridiculing of one s self. Individuals with this humor style often allow themselves to be the butt of jokes, and laugh along when they are disparaged by others, in the hopes of gaining others approval and acceptance. This humor style is used to enhance relationships with others, but at the expense of positive feelings about self. It also involves the use of humor as a form of defensive denial, to hide one s underlying negative feelings or avoid dealing constructively with problems (Martin et. al., 2003, Martin, 2007). According to Yerlikaya (2007), this humor style is used by an individual without considering the humor and his/her own needs. An example which typifies this humor style is when an individual behaves happy and defies his/her own feelings when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During Book I, Augustine recalls his childhood and how it was like growing up and turning into a young man. He begins his book in an opening prayer, praising his lord and raises the question how can we see God if we do not know who he is. He mentions how anything that exists and creation contains God because he created the Earth. This answers to the question answers how Augustine found God in a sense that, he saw others around him and believed that God was present in everything he has done. An example given in his book is how the comforts of human milk were waiting for him, but God gave him the milk in his mother s breast to nourish him. This is in accordance to the plan of creation. • 12. Writing In The Age Of Distraction Cory Doctorow Summary The article Writing in the Age of Distraction by Cory Doctorow is an article talking about how the Internet is often misconceived as a place where procrastination comes alive. In said article, Doctorow makes a detailed list on how he manages to avoid procrastination and get work done, while still using the Internet. The first step he lists is setting a goal for yourself and sticking with it. Choose a number of words or number of pages you want to type for that day and aim for it. Do not stop before you reach that goal. Similarly, Doctorow says, once you do reach that goal, stop for the day. Stop in the middle of your sentence even, so that the next time you sit down to work, you know where to start from. In his exact words, Doctorow states: When you hit your daily word goal, stop. Stop even if you re in the middle of a sentence. Especially if you re in the middle of a sentence. That way, when you sit down at the keyboard the next day, your first five or ten words are already ordained, so that you get a little push before you begin your work. (Doctorow) He then says that when you are actually sitting down to work, you need to stop researching. One of the easiest ways to get sidetracked while working is by getting distracted by information that isn t important for your assignment, but seem relevant at the time. Set aside specific time for research so you don t end up procrastinating when you should be working. Another tip Doctorow gives is to remember not to get distracted using your word processor. Doing things like playing with the font or debating over which color your words should be in will only kill valuable time. Turning off your cell phone and ignoring social media notifications is also a great way of making sure you don t end up wasting your own time. I choose to write about Doctorow s article because I often find myself getting distracted both before and during the process of writing a paper. Much like Doctorow, I d been instructed by several high school teachers to stay away from the Internet while writing so I didn t divert my attention away from the assignment I was supposed to be working on. • 20. Motor Rehabilitation 3. Understanding motor learning applied to rehabilitation The ability to walk may be compromised after damage to structures of the neural system due to a spinal cord injury (SCI) or a stroke. Frequently, patients in rehabilitation have an altered neural control leading to an inaccurate, slow or inefficient performance of the movement (Bastian, 2008). Thus, a main goal in the walking rehabilitation process is to learn how to perform a movement again, recovering motor function, by incorporating motor learning principles into this process (Sawers et al., 2012). Learning has been defined as ...a relative permanent change, resulting from practice or a novel experience in the capability for responding (Guthrie, 1952). Additionally, some authors consider motor learning to be a loose term that includes motor adaptation, skill acquisition, and decision making (Kitago Krakauer, 2013). In a broad view the learning process can be described in five main phases: fast, slow, consolidation, automatic, and retention. During the fast stage, a major increase in performance occurs. In the slow stage, the gains in performance occurs via practice. After an interval time period, consolidation is observed without additional practice. Then, in the automatic phase, minimal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The religious mysticism of Margery Kempe is one of the central themes presented in the text being present from the initial chapters and serving as the catalyst for many events that occur throughout the work. The portrayal of Kempe s religious mysticism is primarily positive with most conflict being used to support and showcase her mysticism. Typically these conflicts revolve around the skepticism and disbelief by those who doubt her abilities sometimes even being called a heretic. These skeptics usually then encounter an event focused around Margery that changes their mind turning them into argent supporters. An example of this from early in the work is Margery s encounter with a monk of renown who is described as despising her. This same monk later comes to support her after she tells him of the sins he has committed despite having no prior knowledge of them. In addition to the portrayal of her mysticism the question of whether it appears to be based more upon logic or emotion arises. Based upon the evidence present in the text one can conclude that her mysticism is primarily based on emotion. The language use in the text is the strongest evidence for this conclusion with a good example coming in the sixty fourth chapter of the first book. Words such as love, sweet, and joy are used several times throughout the chapter emphasizing the emotion present in her mysticism. In addition to the language use Kempe s refusal to avoid situations that would be complicated by her mysticism serves as additional evidence. One such event occurred during her travels when she clashed repeatedly with her companions over her weeping causing them to be harsh with her. The logical action in this situation would be to try and appease her companions in order to make the journey more bearable. Kempe however does not do this, instead making the emotional ... An Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Cathedral A Cynics Enlightenment Raymond Carver s short story Cathedral is outwardly about a pessimistic man, whose wife s blind visitor named Robert changes the narrators predisposing perception of the world and awakes a new view on life in the process. But inwardly, the story is about the desperate need for connection between these three characters, which isn t feasible do to the emotional detachment by the narrator. But with the help of the blind man who is able to see the greater truth, since he s incapable of having his perception distorted based on outer appearance; allows him to teach the narrator the difference between looking and seeing. Carver is proclaiming that when we open ourselves to new ways of connecting with others, and new ways of viewing at the world, we can have hugely rewarding experiences. The Cathedral defines what it really means to be blind . First, being the blind man who literally cannot see because he is disabled. And then what it means to be emotionally blind like the narrator. The narrator possesses very shallow, ignorant, and careless qualities which then makes him form harsh prejudices upon people. And that s the root to his blinders. And him having these prejudices denies him of connecting with anyone or anything, then distancing him from the world. He generalizes all of his opinions, making him believe if you ve seen ... Negative Stereotypes In Society Stereotypes are assumptions or generalizations that people think and label a particular person as belonging to a group based on how they look in terms of gender, race, ethnicity, and other categories. Stereotypes are a big problem in our society because they have a negative impact and can be damaging to a person s emotions. Thus, any stereotype on individuals can be viewed as wrong because in the end we are judging them. I was stereotyped as a thief because some people assumed I was stealing. As a result, I was affected by this because if they stopped to see what I was actually doing, they would have seen I was buying a box to give someone a present. Stereotypes are one of the most terrible mistakes that many people have because their critique. Most people, even young or old, were grouped with either positive or negative stereotypes; which actually do not fit for everyone. Some Vietnamese people mainly immigrants, international students, or tourists are criticized dishonesty and greed. It might be so wrong to use that identify into any specific situation. In reality, I was stereotyped on that category at the day I went to the Daiso store to find a gift box for my friend s present. I tried to estimate how big the box should I buy, so I put sandals that I just bought from H M store into many different boxes. Finally, I chose a hard box which is covered by pink flower paper. A presupposition affects how we believe and reflect on how we view Politics, Science, and our ethics. The cool thing is that everyone has a worldview whether they think it or not there isn t such a think as worldview neutral because believing in not worldview is a worldview. Robots can be used for simple tasks like mowing the lawn and vacuuming to advanced tasks like self driving vehicles. Many of these robots are given artificial intelligence (AI). Development of AI has recently become a major topic among philosophers and engineers. One major concern is the ethics of computers with AI. Having a robot that follows the first formulation would also benefit humans. The robot could assist humans by running many scenarios. This would be a good starting point for when an AI needs to make a decision. Rules can be implemented easily since they are categorical. Another approach would be to teach the robot how to respond in situations. The response would need to have an ethical outcome. The method is similar to how humans learn morality. The robot would learn right from wrong. This approach can be effective as long as the teacher acts ethically. Robots could also take an Act Utilitarianism approach to decision making. A robot could run an algorithm to maximize overall happiness. An AI would quantify the happiness that each action would cause and then compare the results. Robots can do the calculations to estimate the amount of happiness that a decision could create a lot faster than humans can. This system could work if nobody is killed or harmed. The rules and laws that govern humans would need to be taken into account. This would ensure that the AI makes an ethical decision. The creation of AIs also needs to be ... • 35. The Dark Age Of The Dark Ages What is the first thing you think about when I say dark age? Is it chaos? Disease? Poverty? Death? Well, you re on the right track. A dark age meant that there was very little culture, was repeatedly invaded, had no government and a bad economy, and of course, a miserable place to live. It was between 400 and 1400 AD in Europe, that was supposed to be called a dark age. While most of that did happen in Europe, it s not entirely barbaric. In fact, around the end of that time period, many things that were taken from Europe was restored. Art and education were restored around the 14th century. Food and technology were improved around that time period as well. Even laws were restored back in order so that society could be stable. So yes, I do believe that what you call a dark age, wasn t really dark because food access and farmland was restored with the add on of having clever contraptions to support the labor around the farm work, the government was strong enough to make certain laws, and innovations were being advanced. One of the reasons why Europe in the 400 to 1400 wasn t a dark age is how there was access to enough food, tools, and farmland. One piece of evidence that shows that farmland and food were available is in a textbook called, World History Before 1600: The Development of Early Civilization. One excerpt states, From 1000 to 1300, the economy of Europe developed and prospered. Available farmland tripled, and the food supply increased notably (Doc B). Also, ...
