The Financial Crisis And 2008 Is A Big International Crisis
In every country, they always have a chance to have a financial crisis, it depends on the
government and banks, which means Australia might go to have a financial crisis in the further

Economic Power In Imperial China
Economic Power
One of the main reasons China has a boost in soft power mentioned in the previous paragraph, as
Joseph Nye said, is the significant rise of economic power, which is also one of the key
elements of the Chinese Dream. Considering the economic history of imperial China, there are
several strong points. Start from the earliest, the Han Dynasty (206 BC AD 220), which has a
massive urbanization, huge population growth, stable currency and very importantly, the open up
of Silk Road. These allowed commercial activities developed in a rapid rate at that time, and
enabled the trade with Europe through the Silk Road. Han achieved a very high level of gross
domestic product at that time, which was roughly equals to $450 per capita in 1990 s US dollar.
Move forward to the Tang Dynasty (618 907), another golden period of Chinese history, which has
recovered from the long period of wars, with the population surpassing the Han Dynasty. China
enjoyed a long peaceful period of economic development since the Emperor Taizong of Tang, one
of the greatest emperors in Chinese history. Taizong regulated the market, and more importantly the
taxation system; he set various standards of price and quality of certain goods, and left the market
to the people.

The urbanization is exactly what China is experiencing since several decades ago; stable currency
can be related to the efforts that the Chinese government put to stabilize and strengthen Yuan. Silk
Road and Zheng He Xia Xiyang both refer to global trade. The system and standards during Tang
Dynasty are very much alike the Chinese socialism today. The technology development during the
Song Dynasty matches with how the Chinese government value science and technology. These are
all elements that are included in Xi s Chinese Dream, which China wanted and tried to

Descartes Dualism
In philosophy, dualism declares a radical difference between mind and matter ( Internet
Encyclopedia of Philosophy, n.d.). All dualists believe that the mind is separate from the brain (
Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, n.d.). Each dualist has their own view on the mind being a
product of the brain. Specifically, philosopher Rene Descartes believed that the souland body are
two different kinds of substances and neither needs the other in order to exist ( Internet
Encyclopedia of Philosophy. n.d.). Furthermore, Descartes dualismasserts that the mind, which is
non physical, and the body, which is physical, are separate entities ( Internet Encyclopedia of

The pineal gland is a pea sized organ placed at the center of the brain that played an important
role in Descartes philosophy (Lokhorst, 2005). He regarded it as the main seat of the soul and
the place in which all of our thoughts are formed (Lokhorst, 2005). Additionally, Descartes
affirmed that the pineal gland played a critical role, because it was involved in sensation,
imagination, memory, and the causation of bodily movement (Lokhorst, 2005). Descartes
believed that the pineal gland was suspended in the middle of the ventricles, which are fluid
filled cavities in the center of the brain (Lokhorst, 2005). However, this was proven to be false by
another philosopher, Aelius Galenus (Lokhorst, 2005). Secondly, Descartes believed that the pineal
gland was full of animal spirits, surrounded by several small arteries (Lokhorst, 2005). Again,
Galenus proved this to be false, because the pineal gland is surrounded by veins, not arteries
(Lokhorst, 2005). Perhaps Descartes assumptions regarding the pineal gland were mistaken, due to
what was known at that time. Either way, Galenus had already explored the truths and function of
the pineal gland before

The course will spread over three months, four days per month of classroom time. Following the
course, the group of leaders will work together to outline and design an on going course for the rest
of the department. The resulting tailored organizational behavior course will help DPS meet the
current and future challenges of public safety.
The secret to the success of this initiative will not be simply teaching organizational behavior
geared towards the Law Enforcement environment, which it will do; but DPS will take further steps
to ensure complete implementation and continued improvement over time. DPS will develop new
programs of mentoring, situational awareness, personal and team motivation, as part of the daily
routine to further the success of this initiative.
The current leadership at the Department of Public Safety has held a series of meeting with
chiefs and administrators of DPS agencies to identify current trends, where DPS wants to be years
down the road, and how to overcome the gap in the two positions. All those involved felt confident
that by bring together the DPS mindset and having a consistent leadership approach from top
leaders, managers, supervisors, and all DPS employees, covering both civilian and sworn
personnel, is the key to move as one in the same organizational

Relationship between the Change in Shapes in Yield Curves...
Letter of Transmittal
Introduction
This assignment is to study the relationship between the change in shapes of yield curves and
change in economic prospect of an economy. In this study, Australia and America are selected for
the detailed analysis of the topic. Time series data from December 2009, December 2010,
December 2011, December 2012 and the most updated May 2013 will be collected for further
analysis.
The study will be divided into 4 parts. Below we will explain briefly how we will handle the tasks.
Task 1:
We will plot the yield curves of Australia and America using the yield data of Australian Treasury
notes and government bonds as well as the U.S. Treasury bills. Then, we will relate the curve
shapes to expectation theory of the interest rates for further explanations.
Task 2:
We will discuss the relationship between the change in the slope of yield curves and the change in
the prospect of economy by plotting the graphs of slop change in yield curves for Australia and
America. Data with a higher frequency will be collected for more detailed study.
Task 3:
We will look in to how effective the RBA and the FED have done on the change in monetary policy
and how these policies affected the yield curves respectively. Actions taken to deal with the impact
from financial tsunami in 2008 will be target of our discussion.
Task 4:
We will conclude the findings above and try to give out opinions on how the investors and policy
makers should do to achieve a better

Synchronous Machine For A Motor And A Generator
Synchronous Machines Louis Meyer EE 3501 Section 3B November 7, 2014 Table of Contents
Abstract This report contains details from three lab experiments performed using a synchronous
machine for both a motor and a generator. The fundamental principle of a synchronous machine is
that the electrical frequency is related to the mechanical frequency. The first lab performed
consisted of doing two different tests, the open circuit and short circuit tests, respectively. By
performing these two basic tests, it can be determined the armature voltage and current changes
drastically with each test. The second lab performed required to use the synchronous machine as a
generator. When acting like a generator, it becomes necessary to... Show more content on

There are two primary synchronous machines, the synchronous generator and the synchronous
motor. Both machines are very useful depending on the application necessary for their use.
Depending on the external conditions, it is required to have an understanding of how the
synchronous machine should be modeled for each use. The synchronous machine is commonly
found in industrial settings, clocks, and power plants. The common factor between these fields is
the requirement of running at a constant speed. The synchronous generators used in power plants
are common because it is economically efficient to keep the generator running at a constant
frequency. Depending on the application, the synchronous machines can be modeled
proportionally between the mechanical frequency based on the number of poles and the
frequency of current (see theory). Consequentially, the electrical radian frequency is determined
be the electrical frequency. Modeling a synchronous machine is a simple task, provided the
necessary parameters are known. For this lab the model of the synchronous machine was already
considered. The synchronous machine being used had a rating of 208 V (line to line rms), 60 Hz,
and 200 W. It is a 4 pole machine with a synchronous speed of 1800 RPM. The open circuit and
short circuit tests performed in this lab can

The World Outside And The Pictures
Broken Pictures
After the death of more than nine million soldiers and over seven million civilians, World War I
came to end with the signing of The Treaty of Versailles. US President at the time Woodrow Wilson
offered his vision for world peace with his Fourteen Points. Influential journalist and political
commentator Walter Lippmann assisted the drafting of this blueprint for world peace through a
League of Nations. Perhaps Lippmann is best known for coining the term stereotype in his 1922
book Public Opinion. In the first chapter, The World Outside and the Pictures in our Heads
Lippmann supports that reality does not always correspond with the perception that the mind
creates. These perceptions aids in fashioning what Lippmann calls a pseudo environment. Through
a medium of fictions, the mind shapes these environments. Lippmann argues that public opinion is
shaped and defined by perceptions of reality and influenced by the pseudo environment molded by
fictions. To demonstrate the pictures in our head do not always match the world outside Lipmann
tells a story about an isolated island that only receives news updates every sixty days or so by
steamer ship. The story takes place in September 1914 some six weeks after the start of WWI and a
couple months since the last steamer ship bringing the latest news. On the island Englishmen,
Frenchmen, and Germans worked and lived together in harmony. Their most anticipated news story
was not concerning world turmoil,

Elephant Bird Evolution
In the article, Ancient DNA Reveals Elephant Birds and Kiwi are Sister Taxa and Clarifies Ratite
Bird Evolution , the researchers discuss the relatedness of the certain ratites. Ratites are flightless
birds that includes the two birds in focus, the elephant bird and the kiwi. The kiwi is a small bird
that is about a foot and a half tall, while the elephant birdcan be 6 10 feet tall. Topics they discuss
about the relatedness of these two species ranges from previous theories, the dispersion of their
common ancestor, and the evolution.
For a period of time, species of similar characteristics and location were considered to be related
taxonomically. This manner of classification was used on both, the kiwi and the elephant bird.
Older studies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is suspected that this study has not been conducted for the fact that there is a great distance
between the two taxa and the elephant bird was one of the largest birds while the kiwi is
extremely small compared to it. The discovery that these two taxa are related provides evidence
that similar types of species evolving together does not make them the closest relatives. The next
thought was that allopatric speciation cause the two birds to be separated by such a distance.
This was disproven, or at least considered less likely, due to the fact that Madagascar and New
Zealand were not connected to each other they were linked by other land masses. Another key
point in disproving this is that the molecular biology states that the two taxa branched off after the
land masses were separated. It is thought that the common ancestor between the kiwi and the
elephant bird was able to fly. The ability to fly would allow this common ancestor to spread great
distances, which could explain the distribution of kiwis and the elephant birds. It can also be
inferred that the other ratites had an ancestor that was flight capable, which shows how the other
ratites were possibly distributed around the world. This also shows that since they were

What is yoga to you? Most people would say it s a form of exercise, or maybe some would say it
will improve your flexibility. Well to Natalie Bell it s so much more than that. Natalie sees yoga as
a way of life, as a form of spirituality and becoming one with the body and mind, and of course it
keeps her flexible and in shape as well. I met Natalie through my mother she is her friend and yoga
instructor and a very interesting person who I wanted to learn more about. I was curious what
would interest someone in a life dedicated to yoga, and how exactly one becomes a yogi or
master of yoga and gets into teaching it. I learned that Natalie took a 500 hour course in the
Yoga Teacher Training program at the Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio located in Halifax,
Nova Scotia. Here she learned the skills to be able to instruct a class and mastered a form of
yoga called Hatha Vinyasa. I learned interestingly enough that there is not one type of yoga but
actually around 20 different kinds of yoga you can learn. However I really wanted to learn why
she d be so interested in this and I found out that she is an avid traveller and during a trip to India
when she was younger she met yogi s and lots of hindupeople and learned a little bit about that
culture and it really interested her. So, when she returned home to Nova Scotia she started doing
yoga on her own and ended up eventually pursuing the 500 hour yoga teacher course and

Positive And Negative Impact Of Globalization
Globalization is truly a complex phenomenon. It indicates that the world today is getting smaller,
people from all around the world are interconnected than before. Globalization is driven by a
combination of economic, technological, sociocultural, and political factors. Jan Aart Scholte states
that Some people have associated globalizationwith progress, prosperity and peace. For others,
however, the word has conjured up deprivation, disaster and doom. In these paper I will discuss
positive and negative impact of globalization on society: at social, cultural, economical and political
level.
Can we expect a growing homogenization of culture globally what george ritzer (1996) It is true
that globalization can affect people s identities and cultural values; which can be altered
significantly. Although, at the same time globalization is expanding the knowledge of foreign
cultures. Today s young generations are developing an identity that gives them a sense of
belonging to a worldwide culture, they are aware of trends, styles, events and facts that are a part
of the global culture. The media such as television and Internet, are allowing user to pass on the
message instantly anywhere in the world and makes it easy for person to adopt different culture.
For instance, the individual from non western cultures, who are altering their own cultural values
and beliefs, and accepting western culture in response to globalization. Article in Postcard: New

India at the dinner table, they serve pizza, pasta and noodles, instead of traditional Indian food. At
the same time, westerners adopting eastern culture; they are exploring the yoga and meditation. In
a globalized world, you may see McDonalds and Starbucks everywhere in the world. Nevertheless,
the same globalization escort various nation cuisines across the world to explore. Think of all the
quality Thai, Chinese, Indian or Mexican restaurants arising across the world over the past two

Additionally, globalization allows us to explore different religions, which we

greatest pollutants and the greatest contributors to the greenhouse effect .The increasing
importance of environmental concern, fuel savings and unavailability of power has led to the
renewal of interest in renewable energies. It therefore stands to reason that developing countries
whose energy consumption rate is increasing at a very fast rate should be investigating new
energy systems based on renewable energies that do not pollute and which are inexhaustible such
as the Solar system. In this paper a simple, reliable and effective solar panel charging system has

Energy is the convertible currency of technology. Without energy the whole fabric of society as
we know it would crumble; the effect of a 24 hour cut in electricity supplies to a city shows how
totally dependent we are on that particularly useful form of energy. Computers and lifts cease to
function, hospitals sink to a care and maintenance level and the lights go out. As populations
grow, many faster than the average 2%, the need for more and more energy is exacerbated.
Enhanced lifestyle and energy demand rise together and the wealthy industrialized economies
which contain 25% of the world s population consume 75% of the world s energy supply [1]. The
use of new efficient photovoltaic solar cells (PVSCs) has emerged as an alternative measure of
renewable green power, energy conservation and demand side management [2]. Renewable

Comparing Tristram To Isolt And The Love-Drink
In love stories like Romeo and Juliet, the main theme in the story is that sometimes love is worth
dying for if it is true and pure, and Shakespeare focused on writing a play in which that theme
was made obvious. In the case of Tristan and Iseult, there are many versions of their love story.
Most versions result in their deaths because they cannot live without the other; however, some
versions leave one of the two alive. Although there are many different versions, they all tell a story
similar to the ones before it. In Tristram to Isolt and The Love Drink, both authors tell the story of
Tristan and Iseult, yet both have differences like their plot and diction in order to emphasize
different, distinct themes. Both stories use a different plot scheme which highlights the different
themes that each author hoped to draw attention to. The Love Drink by Sally Bridges mainly
emphasizes the moment when Iseultand Tristan drink from the bottle and fall in love with each

Track Multi Target As Camera Motion Essay
MCMC particle filter
In this project, it is challenging issue to track multi target as camera motion is unknown. To deal
with this issue and targets occlusion, the camera parameters are calculated and targets were also
tracked within the 3D coordinates [W. Choi] at the same time. To be specific, it is aimed 1) to
solve the multi object tracking issue by using a single non calibrated camera, [W. Choi] 2). to deal
with complicated scenes in which multiple pedestrians are moving and occluding each other [W.
Choi] at the same time, 3). to calculate the 2D/3D trajectories within the camera reference system
[W. Choi].
The important task in this project was to calculate camera parameters (such as camera pose and
focal length of a camera) and track objects such as pedestrians as they move in the scene [W.
Choi]. Tracks are helpful in calculating the parameters of a camera by using their velocity and
scale within the image plane; simultaneously, camera parameters can help to follow objects very
robustly as previous important information is available. This enables to calculate object 3D
trajectories in the reference system of a camera. The author used a simplified camera model which
allows finding a powerful compact relationship between the variables such as camera parameters
and target, with the help of projection constraints of a camera. The identification of a handful of
feature tracks which associated with the static background allows adding extra constraints to the
camera

Partisan Divide Analysis
In modern American politics it is incredibly difficult for a President to legislate due to the fact
that Congress has become incredibly polarized. Obama and other Presidents in the past ran their
campaigns stating that they would unite divided government in order for both parties to work
together to get legislation passed. What Obama and many other Presidents have found out is that
because both parties are sticking to their ideologies the prospects for compromise has lowered
and the only way to legislate is to work within one s party. While political scientist such as
Matthew J. Dickson have suggested focusing on issues that will bring bipartisanship and going
public, it is clear in the wake of such polarization that change is needed to combat... Show more

The idea is that if the President presents his policies to the people and gets high public approval
that puts pressure on the opposing party to compromise. While this also sounds good in theory
it also has its obstacles and may not be very effective. As Dickinson stated, there are certain
factors that must be in the President s favor in order for this strategy to work. For one thing the
President must be very popular to persuade the public. This would make this strategy difficult for
Obama and most Presidents in their second term because Presidential approval ratings decline
after the first term. Having a low approval rating makes it difficult to get public support. The
other obstacle with this strategy is that the opposing party can go public too to counter the
President and make their case against the policy proposals. While going public sounds good in
theory it is a very difficult strategy which is why in the wake of heavy polarization in Congress
reform is needed to make it easier for the President and his party to

financial managers range from preparing financial statements to helping management make financial
decisions to steer the company in the right direction. Financial managers prepare financial
statements, business activity reports, and forecasts. Additionally financial managers must monitor

A typical week in the life of a financial manager involves working full time in which one in three
financial managers work more than 40 hours per week. These individuals must be accustomed to
working in many industries, including but not limited to, banks and insurance companies (The
Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2015, n.p.). In order to be a financial manager an individual must be
willing to go above and beyond in order to secure themselves a job since there are more applicants
than there are job openings.
Education and Prerequisites: Financial Manager
As jobs are scarce in the business world candidates must show that they are capable and proficient in
their craft as opposed to other candidates. Although, the minimum educational requirement is a
Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, and Business Administration, those who
wish to secure a job are encouraged to pursue their Master s degree in Business Administration,
Finance, and Economics. Along with a Bachelor s degree, five years of experience is required and
those who wish to receive certification may do so in two different ways even though certification is
not required. The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute confers the Chartered Financial

Homelessness And Social Harassment Analysis
In Washington we have an ever growing problem with homelessness. As you drive down the
freeway, it becomes very obvious. Watching the growth of The Jungle over the years, followed by
the sudden displacement of a long standing residential zone for the homeless, I can t help but
wonder where all these people are supposed to go. According to an article written in the Seattle Post
Intelligencer, February 17, 2016, a January 2016 assessment counted 201 tents and estimated more
than 400 homeless people lived in the encampment , while noting the assessment group counted 201

In the past five years, Seattle has responded to emergencies in The Jungle more than 750 times
250 for fires and 500 times for emergency medical response. Additionally, due to the risk of
violence in The Jungle , the emergency response teams need to be accompanied by police officers.
These numbers do not take into account the number of medical emergencies where people self
admit themselves through the emergency department. The cost of medical care and crime
associated with being homeless far outweighs the cost to provide an adequate housing program for
those suffering from homelessness. A study conducted by researchers from the University of
Pennsylvania examined the impact of providing supportive housing to the homeless on the use of
hospitals, jails, and shelters. What they found is that even without taking into account the many
other factors that place financial burdens on taxpayers, providing supportive housing saved money.
So why is it that a country as wealthy and resource rich allows people to remain homeless?
According to a study from the Consumer Financial Protection Board, 44% of United States citizens
do not have enough savings to survive three months of unemployment, this leads me to believe that
part of the answer to why we don t have a guaranteed minimum is related to the

Cannabis Abuse And The Type Or Number Of Depressive Symptoms
Cannabis is one of recreational drugs that are widely used, taking third place among drugs of
concern in addiction treatment services (Degenhardt et al., 2008). There is a conflicting evidence
for an association between cannabis abuse and the type or number of depressive symptoms. In the
view of the self medication hypothesis, subclinical depressive symptoms can cause social
difficulties and psychological distress that may be relieved by cannabisabuse (Schofield et al.,
2006). An association between cannabis abuse and the presence of fewer or less severe depressive
symptoms was reported (Denson and Earleywine, 2006; Tosato et al., 2013), suggesting that
cannabis use may alleviate some of these symptoms. On the other hand, other studies have observed
an increase in negative (D Souza et al., 2005) or depressive (Degenhardt et al., 2003; Lev Ran et al.,
2014) symptoms when О”9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive constituent of
cannabis, is administered to patients with schizophrenia. In addition, heavy or problematic
cannabis use resulted in depression. (Degenhardt et al., 2003; Moore et al., 2007; Kedzior and
Martin Iverson , 2010) and anxiety (Crippa et al., 2009).
Interests have been raised by rising rates of cannabis use (Donnelly and Hall, 1994; Hall et al.,
1999; Degenhardt et al., 2000; Johns, 2001) and depression (Andrews et al., 1998; Cicchetti and

The Effects of Gender Bias on Elementary School Children...
The Effects of Gender Bias on Elementary School Children
It s a girl! or It s a boy! is typically the first thing parents hear after the birth of a child. This simple
statement of fact sets the groundwork for every interaction they will have with their daughter or
son, and for every experience that child will have throughout her or his life. Gender identity the
private experience of being female or male forms a core part of one s sense of self (Welker). The
nature of this private experience is enormously influenced by what we are taught it means to be a
girl or a boy, and these lessons are typically fraught with instances of gender bias what Beverly

In our society, males are the preferred sex. Mothers show a 2:1 preference for male children, and
fathers even more so (The Pinks and the Blues). Parents stereotype their child from birth: they think
that boys are more alert, more coordinated, stronger, bigger, and less attentive, while girls are softer,
weaker, and more attentive (Stockman). Research by Bloch at U. C. Berkeley revealed that parents
encourage differences in their children; with sons, parents emphasize achievement and value
independence and self reliance, while with daughters, parents emphasize proprieties and supervise
their daughters activities more than their sons (The Pinks and the Blues). I observed a videotape,
titled The Pinks and the Blues, of a family interview in which first the son and then the daughter
were asked to solve a puzzle with their parents present. With the son, Dad emphasized the cognitive
aspects of the task and checked for understanding, while Mom looked on. With the daughter, Dad
emphasized the affective relationship (the father daughter interaction) and stressed that the
important thing was to have fun, while Mom provided help to the point of interfering with the
daughter s performance.
In addition to parents, the other primary agent influencing children at this age is the media, via
television. Little girls can watch Spiderman swing high

The Invention Of Inkjet Printing
The concept of inkjet printing originated in the 20th century, and the technology was first
extensively developed in the early 1950s. Starting in the late 1970s inkjet printers that could
reproduce digital images generated by computers were developed, mainly by Epson, Hewlett
Packard (HP), and Canon. Although inkjet printers only appeared on the consumer market in the
late 1980s, they had been under development for more than twenty years by that time. In the mid
1970s, printer companies realized the potential of the technology that would make dot matrix
printers obsolete. The challenge, however, was to come up with a way to create an affordable
inkjet printerthat would reliably create high quality print outs .In the worldwide consumer market,
four manufacturers account for the majority of inkjet printer sales: Canon, HP, Epson, and

The World War I, America
David Ibarra Ms. Knochenhauer APUSH Period 4 24 April 2015 APUSH Research Paper
Following World War I, America turned inward and began to focus on itself. Yet, coming home
from war Americans were also fearful of communism due to the recent Bolshevik Revolution where
Lenin and the Bolshevik party gained control of Russia and made it communist. This scare led to
drastic changes within our nation s borders as America fought to keep communist influence out of
its borders. This was such an impactful event that even the Attorney General of the time, A.
Mitchell Palmer, set up a section in the Justice Department to handle issues relating to radicals, this
sect of the Justice Department would be very active as, More than ten thousand people were
arrested some for membership in Communist or left wing groups, others on no greater pretext than
that they looked or sounded foreign and then jailed and interrogated with little regard for their right
to due process (Lehman, Phelps 260). This severe response to the scare of Communism
demonstrates an inward focusing of America. Similarly, in the post World War I time period
America would demonstrate its interest in nativism which it would demonstrate through multiple
acts being passed on immigration primarily, the Immigration Act of 1924. During this period of
nativism, Through the whole movement, from 1921 on, for more drastic curbs on the new
immigration ran an increasingly assertive racial nativism (Higham 313). That is America had

The Availability Of Fast Food Essay
The availability of fast food is contributing to the rise of Obesity in New Zealand
Question 1: Explain the view point and find evidence to support the view
I believe that some people have this view because fast food outlets usually consist of fatty foods.
This means that people who don t have much time or money can easily go out and buy food for
themselves and their children. Studies show that New Zealand fast food consumption was an
estimated 2 3 kgs per person per year. Studies also show that nearly $2000 is spent on fast foods
every year. In Cambridge alone there are multiple fast food outlets. These include KFC,
McDonalds, Dominoes, Pizza hut etc. because these foods are extremely high in fats when they
are a consumed they cause people to gain wait. If you eat these foods once a week they will not
really harm you but if you eat it regularly and do no exercise often you will become obese. This
is the problem that is happening in New Zealand. Instead of people just buying them once a week
people are buying them 3 to 4 times a week and it s causing their diets to be unhealthy. In
Cambridge and Hamilton there are healthy options available these can include Subway, Kebabs,
and local bakeries that sell sandwiches etc.
Question 2: Gather evidence for and against different points of views?

Education For Students With Disabilities
Educators continue to determine the best way to teach students with disabilities. As more children
with various disabilities, and other impairments learn with typical children, educators continue to
learn how to include these students in their classroom. There are challenges and benefits that
continue to emerge for educators, children with disabilities, and their non disabled peers. However,
the educational system would agree that educationfor students with disabilities has improved greatly.
Students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms have shown an increasing number of academic
gains in a number of areas, including better test scores, completing IEP goals, grades, behavior and
inspiration to learn. Placement in an inclusive classroom does not disrupt the academic
performance of students without disabilities; it actually enhances students performances in and
outside of the classroom. Inclusion helps students build relationships, improve social skills and
much more. According to Kathleen (2013), the types of instructional strategies found in inclusive
classrooms, including peer tutoring, cooperative learning groups, and differentiated instruction,
have been shown to be beneficial to all learners (p.2). In my classroom, I have used peer tutoring to
help assist the students who have IEPs, this teaching strategy has led to students achieving their IEP

Analysis and Evaluation of the Types of Emotion Essay
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis and evaluation of the Types of Emotion from the

Types of Emotion
An emotion is experienced as a feeling that motivates, organizes, and guides perception, thought,

However, in 1991, Izard stated that despite the genetically based mechanisms for the fundamental
emotions, experience can modify aspects of emotion. A person is capable of learning to inhibit or
modify the innate emotional expressions.
In the book Psychology of Emotions, Izard (1991) stated that the mechanism of basic emotions
can be modified through experience despite being genetically based. Innate emotional
expressions can be inhibited or modified by the person. For instance, anger expression involves
baring one s teeth to prepare oneself in an action of biting. However, many people clinch their
teeth and compress their lips instead. This can be seen as a mean of adapting the expression of
emotion depending on the context. This adaptation can occur for several reasons such as fear or
respect.

Montesquieu Separation Of Power
Charles de Montesquieu To become truly great, one has to stand with people, not above them.
The separation of powers is a doctrine for the administration of both democratic and federative
states. The model was initially created in old Greece and came into broad utilization by the Roman
Republic as a feature of the uncodified Constitution of the Roman Republic. The concept of
separation of power has developed in a few structures at distinctive periods. Its cause is traceable to
Aristotle and Plato. In around seventeenth century, a French thinker John Bodin and a British
government official Locke, communicated their perspectives about the hypothesis of separation of
powers. Be that as it may, it was Montesquieu who surprisingly figured this precept methodically,
logically and plainly in his book Esprit des Lois (The Spirit of the Laws), distributed in the year
1748.
Montesquieu in the following words stated the Doctrine of Separation of Powers
There would be an end of everything, were the same man or same body, whether of the nobles or
of the people, to exercise those three powers, that of enacting laws, that of executing the public
resolutions, and of trying the causes of individuals.

Okonkwo s Foil
Opposites attract. This is a very clichГ© quote used by physicists and other scientific personnel,
but it rings true in many different ways. In literature, the correct term for a character that sets off
or enhances another character by contrast is called a foil. Pairs of characters that are foils to each
other have very opposing views and personalities, but their presence with each other illustrates the
qualities in a better light. The book Things Fall Apartby Chinua Achebe is a fictional novel which

When Okonkwo explains to Obierika how he would strive to have a son like his because he is
so strong and mighty, Obierika answers with a very pacifying response. You worry yourself for
nothing, said Obierika. The children are still very young. (Achebe 66). This passage shows that
Obierika is not so concerned about power and supremacy.
Because of the contrast in Obierika s traits, he is definitely a foil to Okonkwo because Okonkwo
is very strong minded, dogmatic, and hot tempered. If something does not go his way, Okonkwo
will do something very irrational about it. When Okonkwo asked his second wife where his
third wife, Ojiugo, was he became angered because his second wife lied to him about Ojiugo s
whereabouts. He walked back to his obi to await Ojiugo s return. And when she returned he beat
her very heavily (Achebe 29). Okonkwo s rationale of beating his third wife was in very poor
judgment because he beat her during the Week of Peace. The Week of Peace was a week among
the tribes where there was supposed to be no violence. This shows that Okonkwo has a very short
temper and he does not tolerate nearly as much as Obierika can tolerate.
Not only does Okonkwo differ from Obierika in the fact of their personality traits, but Obierika is
a foil to Okonkwo because of Okonkwo s hunger for power. Okonkwo himself was known as the

Right off the bat the narrator can already sense that there is something deeper going on in Jansen
s life. When Jansen, ...stood up and nonchalantly opened the top most suitcase , the narrator
notices that, It was full to the brim and a few pictures fell out , but, [Jansen] didn t even bother
picking them up (9). This irks the curiosity in him and is why he most likely feels the need to
organize the photos for Jansen. While working the days away, Jansen asks the narrator to not
answer the doorbell, ...because people he used the vague term might come in and wait for him in
the studio (11). This disconnection from the outside world causes the narrator to feel, ...as if I d
entered the studio illegally and I was afraid the people ringing, spotting a suspicious presence
inside, would go report it to the nearest precint (11). This is the beginnings of what becomes a very

Abel s Proof Of The Insolvability Of Algebra
Niels Henrik is perhaps the greatest mathematician to have come from Norway. Though his father
was a philosophy teacher, he and Abel s mother managed to acquire a large amount of debt due to
scrupulous spending. Thus, much of Abel s youth was spent well acquainted in poverty. His
poverty continued to adulthood when his father died, and his studies had to be supported by his
professors and through the Norwegian government. Before his university, he was granted a
fellowship to travel and study and Europe, and the year and a half which he spent in Germany,
Italy, and France was one of the happiest periods in his life. Yet, upon return to Norway, Abel could
only attain temporary positions. The last years of his life were beset by many difficulties, but it
was during this period of poverty and struggle that he developed his most famous proof of the
insolvability of the quintic function. Though he died tragically young at twenty seven, before any
recognition, by tuberculosis, he left a bountiful legacy for mathematics. It was not until his death
that the world became aware of his genius, for his proof of the insolvability of the... Show more

Though the function had in origins in Babylonian and Arabic times, the cubic and quartic equations
had been solved by 1600 by the Italians Cardano and Ferrari, respectively. Thus, following this line

and extraction of the fifth root. Yet, despite much effort of from some of the best mathematicians in
the world of the time, no solution was found for over two and one half centuries, and the
seventeenth and eighteenth centuries witnessed a multitude of ineffectual attempts at solve the
general equation of fifth degree by radicals. Abel had thought he found a rational resolution in

The Consequences Of The Discovery Of Pi3k Inhibitors
Since early 1990 the discovery of PI3K inhibitors are under way. There is evidence that the early
compounds namely quercetin, wortmannin and LY294002 could inhibit PI3K pathway. The latter
two compounds were able to rule the research for more than a decade but their high toxicity and
insolubility precludedthem as in vivo pharmacological drugs [Falasca (2010]. Thus, the attention
was again shifted to the discovery of novel inhibitors that could target distinct member in PI3K
signalling pathway. Very few PI3K targeting agents, like everolimus and temsirolimus (mTORC
inhibitors), have been approved and their application in cancer treatment is limited [Polivka and
Janku (2014)]. Different strategies are being implemented with the aim of... Show more content on

The compounds SA16 and IB35 were initially designed to target PDK1 and, serendipitously,
found to inhibit also Aurora A. SA16 and IB35 are novel dual inhibitors that could block both
PDK1 and Aurora A, which are activated in several cancers. With the aim of developing
efficacious and less toxic PI3K/mTORC inhibitors, the compounds we tested on a panel of
pancreatic cancer cell lines in dose dependent way demonstrated that both dual PDK1/Aurora A
inhibitors SA16 and IB35 are able to impair cell growth and migration and that they are not toxic
at micromolar range to normal human pancreatic cells human embryonic kidney cells. The two
compounds show a very similar activity but present some different results, such as the activity
on cell proliferation in BxPC3 cells and on cell migration in AsPC 1 and BxPC3 cells. This could
be explained by the different inhibitory profile possessed by SA16 that, as suggested by their in
vitro IC50, inhibits with higher potency Aurora A compared to PDK1 whereas IB35 inhibits PDK1
preferentially. This is confirmed by the fact that IB35 activity was more prominent on AKT308 than
SA16 and, conversely, SA16 showed a more prominent activity towards inhibition of Aurora A

Personal Experience In Life In My Life Of Swaminarayanism
I have been a follower of Swaminarayanism for all seventeen years of my life, but during my
childhood, temple and religion were just a Sunday obligation. My parents would encourage me
to attend the weekly sabhas (assemblies) held at the temple, but I would often refuse because I
was scared and shy. I followed Swaminarayanism solely because my parents followed it, and for
that reason was very uninterested in the culture and religious values. As I grew older, I came to
the realization there were many fruits of Swaminarayanism, and that temple was one place to
take refuge even when everything in the world was going wrong. It opened many new
opportunities for me. I started to volunteer at the mandir by helping young children learn all that
is good in life through the values of religion. I created a bond between the kids and
Swaminarayanism, and although I was not a firm believer at their age, I wanted to make sure
that they had that connection and conviction to god and to Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
Swaminarayanism has taught me to help others and appreciate the things I have. I dream of
becoming a doctor because it will help me live by Pramukh Swami Maharaj s motto: In the Joy
of Others Lies Our Own. Being a successful doctor and helping out the less fortunate is one of the
best feelings in the world, and Swaminarayanism has instilled these values within me. I want to be
a part of the Doctors Without Borders organization so I am able to serve the unfortunate people
across seas.

Persuasive Essay On Clean Coal
Coal is the dirtiest of all fossil fuels. When burned, it produces emissions that contribute to global
warming, create acid rain and pollute water. With all of the talk surrounding nuclear energy,
hydropower and biofuels, you might be forgiven for thinking that grimy coal is finally on its way
out. On the other hand, coalis no sooty remnant of the Industrial Revolution it generates half of
the electricity in the United States and will likely continue to do so as long as it s cheap and
plentiful . Clean coal technology seeks to reduce harsh environmental effects by using multiple
technologies to clean. Coal is a fossil fuel composed primarily of carbons and hydrocarbons. Its
ingredients help make plastics, tar and fertilizers. A coal derivative, a solidified carboncalled coke,
melts iron ore and reduces it to create steel. But most coal 92 percent of the U.S. supply goes into
power production .Electric companies and businesses with power plants burn coal to make the
steam that turns turbines and generates electricity. When coal burns, it releases carbon dioxideand
other emissions in flue gas, the billowing clouds you see pouring out of smoke stacks. Some clean
coal technologies purify the coal before it burns. One type of coal preparation, coal washing,
removes unwanted minerals by mixing crushed coal with a liquid and allowing the impurities to
separate and settle. Other systems control the coal burn to minimize emissions of sulfur dioxide,
nitrogen oxides and

Happy New Year Essay
Happy New Year! May you have real peace of mind, lasting joy and steadfast love of family and
friends the whole year through and many more years to come!
Many people like to count down to welcome the New Year, but I have stopped attending
countdown parties for years and always wonder why people love the countdown. Maybe it is the
euphoria that drinks and partying bring; maybe it is the kindred spirits, goodwill and
companionship; maybe it is the opportunity to start afresh and set goals not attained in the previous
years. Whatever the reason, the New Yearseems to be a time that gives us high hopes and
aspirations, a time to ponder a time to endeavour.
It seems ironic, however, that we never want to count down the days of our life. Many of us live as
if we will live forever whereas the harsh reality is that most of us are going to expire by 100 years,
which is 36,500 days and 52,560,000 minutes. 52 million seems a big but still a finite number, and

The Battle Of Fort Wagner
The Battle of Fort Wagner consisted of two battles the second being the most deadly and the most
famous of the battles. There were several events and terrain features that cost the Union these
battles during the attempted siege of Fort Wagner. Even though the Battles were a complete loss
there s several things that came from the battles that had lasting impacts on the war and America.
The Union Army wanted to destroy Fort Sumter to allow the Union Navy access to Charleston
Harbor so they Navy could attack the city directly. Before the Union could wage an attack on Fort
Sumter they had to destroy Fort Wagner so they could gain control of the Fort bombard and destroy

Putnam. In the battle of Fort Wagner Gillmore also worked closely with Rear Adm. John A.
Dahlgren s Federal fleet.
The first battle of Fort Wagner took place early morning on July 10th and 11th, 1863, where the
Union Army began with an amphibious assault from the south which drove all Confederate forces
back to Fort Wagner. During this battle the Union Army captured 150 Confederate soldiers. Some
historians speculate that Fort Wagner could have possibly been destroyed if Gillmore wouldn t
have rested that day of the 10th when he drove the Confederates back to the Fort. Because
Gillmore rested after the first battle it gave Taliaferro more time to reinforce the Fort for the
following day where the Confederate army repelled an attack against the 7th Connecticut infantry.
This mistake cost the Union army 330 men and the Confederate side only lost 12 men.
At 8:15am on July 18, 1863 the second battle of Fort Wagnercommenced. It was initiated by four
federal land batteries and the Federal Fleet that shelled from the sea using 11 ships to include the
USS New Ironsides, a veritable floating gun platform sheathed in iron. The Confederate soldiers
incased all 14 cannons in sandbags hoping they would last the unrelenting shelling of the Federal
Fleet, which hurled shells at the Fort weighing up to 400 pounds. The Confederate men retreated to
the belly of the Fort where they held out the shelling suffering zero casualties and amazingly

Federal Indian Policies
Beginning in 1789 with George Washington, the Indians living next to the American people forced
federal Indian policies to be created, which ranged from coexistence to removal. These policies
under the seven different presidents coincided in ways regarding expansion and removal, but also
changed in ways regarding American interaction, civilization, and removal tactics of the Indians.
Despite the consistent similarities in federal Indian policies during the years between the
Washington and Jackson Administrations, the time frame ultimately led to major evolvement and
transformations in viewpoints, treatments, and actions.
George Washington and John Adams administrations had similar intentions, but policies were
changing when Thomas Jefferson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a sudden manner, the voluntary movements of Natives to lands west of the Mississippi became
politically and militarily enforced movement to a specific territory, what is now present day
Oklahoma. James Monroe, a consistent president in assisting the tribes, was willing to help the
Natives establish their own land to civilize (James Monroe and the Indians). John Quincy Adams
encouraged the movement of Indians to west of the Mississippi, but also while purchasing their
previous land, rather than annexing it(Presidency of John Quincy Adams). These methods kept
peace and negotiation between the Indians and the Americans. As soon as Jackson was elected
president, he called for military force to remove the Indians from their land through the Indian
Removal Act. This sudden modification was because of Jackson s belief that Indians should not
live east of the Mississippi river and strongly urged the use of military action prior to his election
in 1829. Due to Jackson s new law, Indian Nations were forced to move into Oklahoma on the Trail
of Tears, which resulted in many deaths (Indian Removal Act). The removal of Indians continued
on from Monroe s administration, however, this was conclusively brought on by the desire of
westward expansion, which began with Washington s

The Differences Of Naval Architecture Vs. Marine Engineering
Naval Architecture vs. Marine Engineering Throughout the years we have had an advance in the
technology of boats and other marine structures. There are different fields that you can go into if
you wish to help with this advancement. Two of the different fields are Naval Architecture and
Marine Engineering. The main differences and similarities between Naval Architectureand Marine
Engineeringare what they design, who they communicate with during the building process, and the
type of tests that they conduct. Naval Architecture is where the ship building process begins.
These architects are responsible for research and development, designing, building and repairing
different types of marine vessels. These vessels can include, but are not limited to, ferries, high
speed boats, tankers, cargo ships, passenger liners, yachts, power boats, warships, fishing boats,
rescue boats, barges, submarine, offshore structures, and aircraft meant to land on water. They are
responsible for studying design proposals and specifications for all the vessels. These architects
are also responsible for designing the ship s hull, waterline curves, and all other structures of the
boat. When building they have to take in account the economic feasibility, as well as making sure
they are within all national and international safety and regulatory standards. Furthermore,
communication is always key to any project. During the ship building process, the architects are
constantly communicating with Marine Engineers. They discuss the layout of all the important
internal systems of the boat. Some of these systems are the boiler room equipment, heating and
ventilation, refrigeration equipment, electrical distribution, safety systems, steering, and propulsion
machinery. They also communicate with each other. Since they are part of a team they have to
communicate with each other to ensure everyone is doing their part and all the work is being
done properly. Also, if you are a naval architect and have experience traveling on the water, you
could have the opportunity to provide onboard safety training to other crews.
In addition, it is always important to conduct tests to be sure that everything is working the way it
should during and after

William Carlos Williams The Use Of Force
The Use of Force Physicians, in their daily practices will tell you, not all patients when being
examined will comply with the doctor s wishes. Likewise, Law Enforcement. Police, can tell you
also not all calls went as smooth as it should most of the times. Nearly all doctors will agree that
children, and the mentally incompetent, are the most difficult patients to deal with. Because of
incompetence, these patients are not able to make decisions for themselves. Doctors are
presumably likeable people, because, when you are sick, they make you healthier, although for
others, doctors can be villains. Patients whose doctors force treatment on them perceive this as a
violation of their rights. The use of force should be mandatory when patient health becomes life
threatening to themselves and the public at large. William Carlos Williamsin his story, The Use of
Force, described the unfolding of a dramatic encounter between a doctor and a little girl named
Matilde, whose parents called the doctor for help because of concern for her health. Matilde was
suspected of having diphtheriaby her parents. The story unfolds like a masterpiece being played
on the stage of a theater as the doctor arrived at the family s home. She s had a fever for three
days, shouted the father and we don t know what it comes from, (20). The doctor asked the parent,
has she had a sore throat? (23), which both parents replied no. To diagnose the ailment, the doctor
must examine Matilda s throat.

  • 3. Economic Power In Imperial China Economic Power One of the main reasons China has a boost in soft power mentioned in the previous paragraph, as Joseph Nye said, is the significant rise of economic power, which is also one of the key elements of the Chinese Dream. Considering the economic history of imperial China, there are several strong points. Start from the earliest, the Han Dynasty (206 BC AD 220), which has a massive urbanization, huge population growth, stable currency and very importantly, the open up of Silk Road. These allowed commercial activities developed in a rapid rate at that time, and enabled the trade with Europe through the Silk Road. Han achieved a very high level of gross domestic product at that time, which was roughly equals to $450 per capita in 1990 s US dollar. Move forward to the Tang Dynasty (618 907), another golden period of Chinese history, which has recovered from the long period of wars, with the population surpassing the Han Dynasty. China enjoyed a long peaceful period of economic development since the Emperor Taizong of Tang, one of the greatest emperors in Chinese history. Taizong regulated the market, and more importantly the taxation system; he set various standards of price and quality of certain goods, and left the market to the people. The Song Dynasty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The urbanization is exactly what China is experiencing since several decades ago; stable currency can be related to the efforts that the Chinese government put to stabilize and strengthen Yuan. Silk Road and Zheng He Xia Xiyang both refer to global trade. The system and standards during Tang Dynasty are very much alike the Chinese socialism today. The technology development during the Song Dynasty matches with how the Chinese government value science and technology. • 4. Descartes Dualism In philosophy, dualism declares a radical difference between mind and matter ( Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, n.d.). All dualists believe that the mind is separate from the brain ( Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, n.d.). Each dualist has their own view on the mind being a product of the brain. Specifically, philosopher Rene Descartes believed that the souland body are two different kinds of substances and neither needs the other in order to exist ( Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy. n.d.). Furthermore, Descartes dualismasserts that the mind, which is non physical, and the body, which is physical, are separate entities ( Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, n.d.). The pineal gland is a pea sized organ placed at the center of the brain that played an important role in Descartes philosophy (Lokhorst, 2005). He regarded it as the main seat of the soul and the place in which all of our thoughts are formed (Lokhorst, 2005). Additionally, Descartes affirmed that the pineal gland played a critical role, because it was involved in sensation, imagination, memory, and the causation of bodily movement (Lokhorst, 2005). Descartes believed that the pineal gland was suspended in the middle of the ventricles, which are fluid filled cavities in the center of the brain (Lokhorst, 2005). However, this was proven to be false by another philosopher, Aelius Galenus (Lokhorst, 2005). Secondly, Descartes believed that the pineal gland was full of animal spirits, surrounded by several small arteries (Lokhorst, 2005). Again, Galenus proved this to be false, because the pineal gland is surrounded by veins, not arteries (Lokhorst, 2005). Perhaps Descartes assumptions regarding the pineal gland were mistaken, due to what was known at that time. Either way, Galenus had already explored the truths and function of the pineal gland before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Biological Theory Kate Millet Essay The biological theory Kate Millet point out that male supremacy dos not reside in physical strength but in the acceptance of a value system which is not biological; superior physical strength is not a factor in political relations vide those of race and class .(Millet, 27). Kate Millet points out in ancient society at some point took a turn toward patriarchy, displacing femalefunction in procreation and attributing the power of life to phallus alone. Letter of Transmittal Introduction This assignment is to study the relationship between the change in shapes of yield curves and change in economic prospect of an economy. In this study, Australia and America are selected for the detailed analysis of the topic. Time series data from December 2009, December 2010, December 2011, December 2012 and the most updated May 2013 will be collected for further analysis. The study will be divided into 4 parts. Below we will explain briefly how we will handle the tasks. Task 1: We will plot the yield curves of Australia and America using the yield data of Australian Treasury notes and government bonds as well as the U.S. Treasury bills. Then, we will relate the curve shapes to expectation theory of the interest rates for further explanations. Task 2: We will discuss the relationship between the change in the slope of yield curves and the change in the prospect of economy by plotting the graphs of slop change in yield curves for Australia and America. Data with a higher frequency will be collected for more detailed study. Task 3: We will look in to how effective the RBA and the FED have done on the change in monetary policy and how these policies affected the yield curves respectively. Actions taken to deal with the impact from financial tsunami in 2008 will be target of our discussion. Task 4: We will conclude the findings above and try to give out opinions on how the investors and policy makers should do to achieve a better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Synchronous Machine For A Motor And A Generator Synchronous Machines Louis Meyer EE 3501 Section 3B November 7, 2014 Table of Contents Abstract This report contains details from three lab experiments performed using a synchronous machine for both a motor and a generator. The fundamental principle of a synchronous machine is that the electrical frequency is related to the mechanical frequency. The first lab performed consisted of doing two different tests, the open circuit and short circuit tests, respectively. By performing these two basic tests, it can be determined the armature voltage and current changes drastically with each test. The second lab performed required to use the synchronous machine as a generator. When acting like a generator, it becomes necessary to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are two primary synchronous machines, the synchronous generator and the synchronous motor. Both machines are very useful depending on the application necessary for their use. Depending on the external conditions, it is required to have an understanding of how the synchronous machine should be modeled for each use. The synchronous machine is commonly found in industrial settings, clocks, and power plants. The common factor between these fields is the requirement of running at a constant speed. The synchronous generators used in power plants are common because it is economically efficient to keep the generator running at a constant frequency. Depending on the application, the synchronous machines can be modeled proportionally between the mechanical frequency based on the number of poles and the frequency of current (see theory). Consequentially, the electrical radian frequency is determined be the electrical frequency. Modeling a synchronous machine is a simple task, provided the necessary parameters are known. For this lab the model of the synchronous machine was already considered. The synchronous machine being used had a rating of 208 V (line to line rms), 60 Hz, and 200 W. It is a 4 pole machine with a synchronous speed of 1800 RPM. The open circuit and short circuit tests performed in this lab can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The World Outside And The Pictures Broken Pictures After the death of more than nine million soldiers and over seven million civilians, World War I came to end with the signing of The Treaty of Versailles. US President at the time Woodrow Wilson offered his vision for world peace with his Fourteen Points. Influential journalist and political commentator Walter Lippmann assisted the drafting of this blueprint for world peace through a League of Nations. Perhaps Lippmann is best known for coining the term stereotype in his 1922 book Public Opinion. In the first chapter, The World Outside and the Pictures in our Heads Lippmann supports that reality does not always correspond with the perception that the mind creates. These perceptions aids in fashioning what Lippmann calls a pseudo environment. Through a medium of fictions, the mind shapes these environments. Lippmann argues that public opinion is shaped and defined by perceptions of reality and influenced by the pseudo environment molded by fictions. To demonstrate the pictures in our head do not always match the world outside Lipmann tells a story about an isolated island that only receives news updates every sixty days or so by steamer ship. The story takes place in September 1914 some six weeks after the start of WWI and a couple months since the last steamer ship bringing the latest news. On the island Englishmen, Frenchmen, and Germans worked and lived together in harmony. Their most anticipated news story was not concerning world turmoil, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Elephant Bird Evolution In the article, Ancient DNA Reveals Elephant Birds and Kiwi are Sister Taxa and Clarifies Ratite Bird Evolution , the researchers discuss the relatedness of the certain ratites. Ratites are flightless birds that includes the two birds in focus, the elephant bird and the kiwi. The kiwi is a small bird that is about a foot and a half tall, while the elephant birdcan be 6 10 feet tall. Topics they discuss about the relatedness of these two species ranges from previous theories, the dispersion of their common ancestor, and the evolution. For a period of time, species of similar characteristics and location were considered to be related taxonomically. This manner of classification was used on both, the kiwi and the elephant bird. Older studies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is suspected that this study has not been conducted for the fact that there is a great distance between the two taxa and the elephant bird was one of the largest birds while the kiwi is extremely small compared to it. The discovery that these two taxa are related provides evidence that similar types of species evolving together does not make them the closest relatives. The next thought was that allopatric speciation cause the two birds to be separated by such a distance. This was disproven, or at least considered less likely, due to the fact that Madagascar and New Zealand were not connected to each other they were linked by other land masses. Another key point in disproving this is that the molecular biology states that the two taxa branched off after the land masses were separated. It is thought that the common ancestor between the kiwi and the elephant bird was able to fly. The ability to fly would allow this common ancestor to spread great distances, which could explain the distribution of kiwis and the elephant birds. It can also be inferred that the other ratites had an ancestor that was flight capable, which shows how the other ratites were possibly distributed around the world. This also shows that since they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Reflective Essay On Yoga What is yoga to you? Most people would say it s a form of exercise, or maybe some would say it will improve your flexibility. Well to Natalie Bell it s so much more than that. Natalie sees yoga as a way of life, as a form of spirituality and becoming one with the body and mind, and of course it keeps her flexible and in shape as well. I met Natalie through my mother she is her friend and yoga instructor and a very interesting person who I wanted to learn more about. I was curious what would interest someone in a life dedicated to yoga, and how exactly one becomes a yogi or master of yoga and gets into teaching it. I learned that Natalie took a 500 hour course in the Yoga Teacher Training program at the Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here she learned the skills to be able to instruct a class and mastered a form of yoga called Hatha Vinyasa. I learned interestingly enough that there is not one type of yoga but actually around 20 different kinds of yoga you can learn. However I really wanted to learn why she d be so interested in this and I found out that she is an avid traveller and during a trip to India when she was younger she met yogi s and lots of hindupeople and learned a little bit about that culture and it really interested her. So, when she returned home to Nova Scotia she started doing yoga on her own and ended up eventually pursuing the 500 hour yoga teacher course and completing it, Natalie is also a second degree black belt in ... It therefore stands to reason that developing countries whose energy consumption rate is increasing at a very fast rate should be investigating new energy systems based on renewable energies that do not pollute and which are inexhaustible such as the Solar system. As populations grow, many faster than the average 2%, the need for more and more energy is exacerbated. Enhanced lifestyle and energy demand rise together and the wealthy industrialized economies which contain 25% of the world s population consume 75% of the world s energy supply [1]. Comparing Tristram To Isolt And The Love-Drink In love stories like Romeo and Juliet, the main theme in the story is that sometimes love is worth dying for if it is true and pure, and Shakespeare focused on writing a play in which that theme was made obvious. In the case of Tristan and Iseult, there are many versions of their love story. Most versions result in their deaths because they cannot live without the other; however, some versions leave one of the two alive. Although there are many different versions, they all tell a story similar to the ones before it. In Tristram to Isolt and The Love Drink, both authors tell the story of Tristan and Iseult, yet both have differences like their plot and diction in order to emphasize different, distinct themes. Both stories use a different plot scheme which highlights the different themes that each author hoped to draw attention to. To deal with this issue and targets occlusion, the camera parameters are calculated and targets were also tracked within the 3D coordinates [W. Choi] at the same time. To be specific, it is aimed 1) to solve the multi object tracking issue by using a single non calibrated camera, [W. Choi] 2). to deal with complicated scenes in which multiple pedestrians are moving and occluding each other [W. Choi] at the same time, 3). to calculate the 2D/3D trajectories within the camera reference system [W. Choi]. The important task in this project was to calculate camera parameters (such as camera pose and focal length of a camera) and track objects such as pedestrians as they move in the scene [W. Choi]. Tracks are helpful in calculating the parameters of a camera by using their velocity and scale within the image plane; simultaneously, camera parameters can help to follow objects very robustly as previous important information is available. This enables to calculate object 3D trajectories in the reference system of a camera. The author used a simplified camera model which allows finding a powerful compact relationship between the variables such as camera parameters and target, with the help of projection constraints of a camera. The identification of a handful of feature tracks which associated with the static background allows adding extra constraints to the camera ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Obama and many other Presidents have found out is that because both parties are sticking to their ideologies the prospects for compromise has lowered and the only way to legislate is to work within one s party. While this also sounds good in theory it also has its obstacles and may not be very effective. As Dickinson stated, there are certain factors that must be in the President s favor in order for this strategy to work. For one thing the President must be very popular to persuade the public. This would make this strategy difficult for Obama and most Presidents in their second term because Presidential approval ratings decline after the first term. Having a low approval rating makes it difficult to get public support. The other obstacle with this strategy is that the opposing party can go public too to counter the President and make their case against the policy proposals. Cannabis Abuse And The Type Or Number Of Depressive Symptoms Cannabis is one of recreational drugs that are widely used, taking third place among drugs of concern in addiction treatment services (Degenhardt et al., 2008). There is a conflicting evidence for an association between cannabis abuse and the type or number of depressive symptoms. In the view of the self medication hypothesis, subclinical depressive symptoms can cause social difficulties and psychological distress that may be relieved by cannabisabuse (Schofield et al., 2006). An association between cannabis abuse and the presence of fewer or less severe depressive symptoms was reported (Denson and Earleywine, 2006; Tosato et al., 2013), suggesting that cannabis use may alleviate some of these symptoms. On the other hand, other studies have observed an increase in negative (D Souza et al., 2005) or depressive (Degenhardt et al., 2003; Lev Ran et al., 2014) symptoms when О”9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive constituent of cannabis, is administered to patients with schizophrenia. In addition, heavy or problematic cannabis use resulted in depression. (Degenhardt et al., 2003; Moore et al., 2007; Kedzior and Martin Iverson , 2010) and anxiety (Crippa et al., 2009). Although inkjet printers only appeared on the consumer market in the late 1980s, they had been under development for more than twenty years by that time. In the mid 1970s, printer companies realized the potential of the technology that would make dot matrix printers obsolete. The challenge, however, was to come up with a way to create an affordable inkjet printerthat would reliably create high quality print outs .In the worldwide consumer market, four manufacturers account for the majority of inkjet printer sales: Canon, HP, Epson, and Lexmark, a 1991 spin off from IBM.[1]( IBM Archives: 1990s . 03.ibm.com. Yet, coming home from war Americans were also fearful of communism due to the recent Bolshevik Revolution where Lenin and the Bolshevik party gained control of Russia and made it communist. This scare led to drastic changes within our nation s borders as America fought to keep communist influence out of its borders. This was such an impactful event that even the Attorney General of the time, A. • 34. Education For Students With Disabilities Educators continue to determine the best way to teach students with disabilities. As more children with various disabilities, and other impairments learn with typical children, educators continue to learn how to include these students in their classroom. There are challenges and benefits that continue to emerge for educators, children with disabilities, and their non disabled peers. However, the educational system would agree that educationfor students with disabilities has improved greatly. Students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms have shown an increasing number of academic gains in a number of areas, including better test scores, completing IEP goals, grades, behavior and inspiration to learn. Placement in an inclusive classroom does not disrupt the academic performance of students without disabilities; it actually enhances students performances in and outside of the classroom. Inclusion helps students build relationships, improve social skills and much more. According to Kathleen (2013), the types of instructional strategies found in inclusive classrooms, including peer tutoring, cooperative learning groups, and differentiated instruction, have been shown to be beneficial to all learners (p.2). In my classroom, I have used peer tutoring to help assist the students who have IEPs, this teaching strategy has led to students achieving their IEP goals and increased learning confidence in both students. • 35. Analysis and Evaluation of the Types of Emotion Essay Introduction The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis and evaluation of the Types of Emotion from the scientific/empirical and Islamic perspectives. The paper presumes that the readers are familiar with the content of the topic in question based on the introductory Psychology textbook by Ciccarelli and White (2010). Therefore, this paper will focus more the analysis and evaluation, rather than the description and details of the topic. Types of Emotion An emotion is experienced as a feeling that motivates, organizes, and guides perception, thought, and action (Izard, 1991). Emotions can be classified into three major categories which are: (1) the physiology of emotion, (2) the behaviour of emotion, and (3) the subjective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in 1991, Izard stated that despite the genetically based mechanisms for the fundamental emotions, experience can modify aspects of emotion. A person is capable of learning to inhibit or modify the innate emotional expressions. In the book Psychology of Emotions, Izard (1991) stated that the mechanism of basic emotions can be modified through experience despite being genetically based. Innate emotional expressions can be inhibited or modified by the person. For instance, anger expression involves baring one s teeth to prepare oneself in an action of biting. However, many people clinch their teeth and compress their lips instead. This can be seen as a mean of adapting the expression of emotion depending on the context. This adaptation can occur for several reasons such as fear or respect. The prophet s.a.w. said: He who does not show mercy to our little ones or recognize the rights of our elders is not one of us (narrated by Ahmad and Tirmizi). The separation of powers is a doctrine for the administration of both democratic and federative states. The model was initially created in old Greece and came into broad utilization by the Roman Republic as a feature of the uncodified Constitution of the Roman Republic. The concept of separation of power has developed in a few structures at distinctive periods. Its cause is traceable to Aristotle and Plato. In around seventeenth century, a French thinker John Bodin and a British government official Locke, communicated their perspectives about the hypothesis of separation of powers. Be that as it may, it was Montesquieu who surprisingly figured this precept methodically, logically and plainly in his book Esprit des Lois (The Spirit of the Laws), distributed in the year 1748. Montesquieu in the following words stated the Doctrine of Separation of Powers There would be an end of everything, were the same man or same body, whether of the nobles or of the people, to exercise those three powers, that of enacting laws, that of executing the public resolutions, and of trying the causes of individuals. This is a very clichГ© quote used by physicists and other scientific personnel, but it rings true in many different ways. In literature, the correct term for a character that sets off or enhances another character by contrast is called a foil. Pairs of characters that are foils to each other have very opposing views and personalities, but their presence with each other illustrates the qualities in a better light. When Okonkwo explains to Obierika how he would strive to have a son like his because he is so strong and mighty, Obierika answers with a very pacifying response. You worry yourself for nothing, said Obierika. The children are still very young. (Achebe 66). This passage shows that Obierika is not so concerned about power and supremacy. Because of the contrast in Obierika s traits, he is definitely a foil to Okonkwo because Okonkwo is very strong minded, dogmatic, and hot tempered. If something does not go his way, Okonkwo will do something very irrational about it. When Okonkwo asked his second wife where his third wife, Ojiugo, was he became angered because his second wife lied to him about Ojiugo s whereabouts. He walked back to his obi to await Ojiugo s return. And when she returned he beat her very heavily (Achebe 29). Okonkwo s rationale of beating his third wife was in very poor judgment because he beat her during the Week of Peace. The Week of Peace was a week among the tribes where there was supposed to be no violence. This shows that Okonkwo has a very short temper and he does not tolerate nearly as much as Obierika can tolerate. Not only does Okonkwo differ from Obierika in the fact of their personality traits, but Obierika is a foil to Okonkwo because of Okonkwo s hunger for power. With the aim of developing efficacious and less toxic PI3K/mTORC inhibitors, the compounds we tested on a panel of pancreatic cancer cell lines in dose dependent way demonstrated that both dual PDK1/Aurora A inhibitors SA16 and IB35 are able to impair cell growth and migration and that they are not toxic at micromolar range to normal human pancreatic cells human embryonic kidney cells. The two compounds show a very similar activity but present some different results, such as the activity on cell proliferation in BxPC3 cells and on cell migration in AsPC 1 and BxPC3 cells. This could be explained by the different inhibitory profile possessed by SA16 that, as suggested by their in vitro IC50, inhibits with higher potency Aurora A compared to PDK1 whereas IB35 inhibits PDK1 preferentially. This is confirmed by the fact that IB35 activity was more prominent on AKT308 than SA16 and, conversely, SA16 showed a more prominent activity towards inhibition of Aurora A T288 phosphorylation (Figure 6). Marine Engineering Naval Architecture vs. Marine Engineering Throughout the years we have had an advance in the technology of boats and other marine structures. There are different fields that you can go into if you wish to help with this advancement. Two of the different fields are Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. The main differences and similarities between Naval Architectureand Marine Engineeringare what they design, who they communicate with during the building process, and the type of tests that they conduct. Naval Architecture is where the ship building process begins. These architects are responsible for research and development, designing, building and repairing different types of marine vessels. These vessels can include, but are not limited to, ferries, high speed boats, tankers, cargo ships, passenger liners, yachts, power boats, warships, fishing boats, rescue boats, barges, submarine, offshore structures, and aircraft meant to land on water. They are responsible for studying design proposals and specifications for all the vessels. These architects are also responsible for designing the ship s hull, waterline curves, and all other structures of the boat. When building they have to take in account the economic feasibility, as well as making sure they are within all national and international safety and regulatory standards. Furthermore, communication is always key to any project. During the ship building process, the architects are constantly communicating with Marine Engineers. They discuss the layout of all the important internal systems of the boat. Some of these systems are the boiler room equipment, heating and ventilation, refrigeration equipment, electrical distribution, safety systems, steering, and propulsion machinery. They also communicate with each other. Since they are part of a team they have to communicate with each other to ensure everyone is doing their part and all the work is being done properly.
