Milk Film Analysis
Milk, directed by Gus Van Sant, had a strong impact on he as a viewer. This documentary/drama
film goes through Harvey Milks process in becoming San Francisco s first openly gay
Supervisor. The film gives a great reenactment of the troubles and hardships him and his
followers faced before, during, and after his election. Not only does this film focus in Milk s
process to Supervisor, but it also pays much attention to gay rights and their fight during this time
as well. Milk worked hard to win his title, but sadly his victory was short lived. A year after
winning his title he was murdered by ex Supervisor, Dan White. This film was very interesting to
watch and it showed me how powerful Harvey Milks actions were. In the beginning of the film
when you first met Milk, you saw that he was just any other guy that you d see on the streets.
With the way he portrayed himself, I thought he would never win any type of election. He had a
nappy, long ponytail, and dressed himself like a hippie. When he lost his first election, I was not
surprised. I think Milk realized that he needed to alter his appearance in order to gain... Show more

I feel that Harvey Milk was successful because he was so real with himself and showed others
that it was okay to express who you really are. He was able to show others that were hiding from
their true selves, that they would be accepted the same way he was. By allowing people to feel
comfortable with their sexuality, Milk brought the community together. He showed everyone in his
community that being different was okay. In my opinion, Harvey Milk being gay, had nothing to
do with his assassination. Dan White was angry that he was no longer welcome on the Board, so
he took matters into his own hands. If Milk happened to be straight, I feel that White still would ve
shot him dead. If Milks murder was because he was gay, the mayor may not have been

Laser Crack Measurement System for Pavement-Management Sytems
Pavement management systems (PMS) can work effectively only when they are constructed by
organically combining all activities concerned with road pavement (planning, design, construction,
maintenance, rehabilitation, evaluation, economic analysis, and research) and the data bank [1].
Then, the most important items are the establishment of a serviceability index, which represents
pavement quality, and a prediction of performance, which is represented by the relation between
time (and/or traffic) and the index. Pavement quality consists of two primary factors: riding quality
and skid resistance. The factors influencing riding quality are pavement distress and/or roughness.
Three major factors of pavement distress are cracking, rutting, and... Show more content on

Therefore, measuring the macro texture is one of the essential components in pavement management
applications.
The requirements for acquiring these factors are the following: (1) That data acquisition cost is as
cheap as possible; (2) that data analysis can be done in a short time; and (3) that data acquisition
doesn t influence the speed of other traveling vehicles, in particular on roads with heavy traffic [2].
Pavement surface distress measurement is an essential part of a pavement management system
(PMS) for determining cost effective maintenance and rehabilitation strategies. Visual surveys
conducted by engineers in the field are still the most widely used means to inspect and evaluate
pavements, although such evaluations involve high degrees of subjectivity, hazardous exposure,
and low production rates. Consequently, automated distress identification is gaining wide
popularity among transportation agencies [6]. With the advancement of 3D sensor and information
technology, a high resolution, high speed 3D line laser imaging system has become available for
pavement surface condition data collection. With the advances in sensor technology, a 3D line laser
imaging based pavement surface data acquisition system has become available. The Laser Crack
Measurement System (LCMS) [7] can collect high resolution 3D continuous pavement profiles for
constructing pavement surfaces. The objective of

Social Institution Vs Organized Crime Essay
A social institution is defined as a group of individuals that live in a type of organized
arrangement for the main purpose of obtaining a certain goal. The definition of organized crime is
a group of individuals that get involved in illegal acts for the main purpose of making a profit.
Many of these organized crimegroups are centralized and operated on a local, national, and
international level, and can be part of several nations (Shanty, 2007).
How the Social Institution and Organized Crime are the Similar Organized crime and a social
institution are similar due to the individuals involved in the criminal activities work in unison to
gather as much benefit to the group as possible. Take some terrorist groups for example. Many of
them have operated for decades and across nations under a singular leader, for a unified cause

The legitimate business often functions as a cover that masks the illegal activities the group
performs. Most social organizations are structured in a certain way in which a central leader who
makes the decisions as well as gives the orders to be carried out by their followers (Shanty, 2007).
Social institutions can be found in every society, and place their focus on the relations, duties, and
responsibilities of every member. This is where social institutions and organized crime are most
easily recognized. They both share a similarity in that they each have leaders, relations, followers or
members, and of course, obligations to someone. One finds its funding through contributions or
endowments left by well to do followers and supporters, while the latter receives money through
crimes such as kidnapping, hijacking, extortion, human and drug trafficking, murder, among others

Knight Code Of Chivalry Research Paper
The Knight s code of chivalry was the bible of the Middle Ages. The code of chivalry was a
noblest path that knights swore to live and die by. We all have our own code we live by weather
you ve thought about it or not. Me? I believe in being nice to people, making friends with dogs,
and keeping my positivity amped up around those I interact with in the hopes that I can brighten
their day. I know what it s like to be sad and talk to yourself all day and have nothing seem
positive.. I want to bring a little light in people s lives if I can. Though, I am also a firm believer
in the justice of karma for the wrong doers, even though everyone does deserve to be surrounded
by positivity, there must be a balance. It is just miserable to live and function regularly when
everything happening around to you seems so negative. I will force my positivity for the
wellbeing of others because it is too often then not that I am affected heavily by emotions in a
negative way, I don t want to radiate that unto others. It makes me feel good when I radiate
positivity because people receive that positivity and the positivity bounces off of them onto the
next, and onto the next, and so on. It s very important to keep the peace and stay positive.... Show

Ethical Boundaries Misused in Today’s Clinical Psychology...
Ethical Boundaries Misused in Today s Clinical Psychology In today s psychology profession, a
therapist and even the client can cross many boundaries if immediate boundaries are not put into
place during the initial visit. Some boundaries that are crossed are not a problem at first and then
the problem progresses. Leonard L. Glass called these, the gray areas of boundary crossing and
violation (429). However, there is further description, Boundary issues mostly refer to the therapist s
self disclosure, touch, an exchange of gifts, bartering and fees, length and location of sessions and
contact outside the office (Guthiel Gabbard). This statement by Thomas G. Gutheil, M.D. Glen O.

How Therapist Self Disclosure And Non Disclosure Affects Clients , stated that, The study results
suggest that therapist self‐disclosure has both positive and negative treatment implications. It
depends on how therapeutic the self disclosure would benefit the client in that given situation, and
the client s receptiveness to what information is given to them; for example, one patient may
respond positively to a therapist s self disclosure that reveals another safe point of view of an issue,
while another patient might feel that therapist s has over stepped their boundaries. Madill et al.
stated that, These were sometimes attributed to inexperience and sometimes the characteristics of
the total situation, such as events from the therapist s personal life (13). There are times when
sharing something from the therapist can help explain an issue that is present during the time of
that therapy appointment. Another problem with a therapist s self disclosure is that after years of
treatment, the therapist can run out of examples to use to clarify a point made during the
appointment. Years and years of treatment sometimes cover issues where the therapist, will add
something about himself or herself. People who tend to talk for a very long time during therapy
can relate on a level that is not crossing the boundaries. In addition, self disclosure may be a major
problem for therapists who live and work in rural communities, because

Identity Of American Identity
The colors of red, white, and blue reflect the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness established over two centuries ago by the nation s forebearers. Being American is about
anticipating change and being provided with the environment to dream. Americans have dreamed
of a more equal union, where Women obtain the right to vote and African Americans are social
equals. The country s images of Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller inspire the American
dream, where individuals are not satisfied with their socioeconomic standing and have the
opportunity to progress. Furthermore, only a minor portion of the United Statespopulation is of
Native American descent. Therefore, the United States is a country of immigrants,... Show more

For instance, Mai Goda, from Still Me Inside, punctuates her experience with assumptions when
she makes the decision to dye her hair a bright red. Ultimately, she describes instances where she
felt intimidated and was classified as part of another group by her appearance. When she arrived
late for school, the vice principal mistook her for a punk delinquent. Also, at her flute recital,
parents appeared surprised when the beautiful music was coming from the girl with the stark
hairstyle. Therefore, although people are judged initially by appearance, the identity of an
individual or group is a collection of both self perception, interests, and social depiction.
The United States was built upon a foundation of acceptance and diversity. Although the
acceptance of differences has come with time and still progresses, America is a nation known
for its breadth of diversity. This diversity includes racial, ethnic, and political diversity. The
Constitution protects the freedom of speech and establishes equality for all groups of people,
whether that be people of different races, political preferences, or religions. For instance, when
New York Times reporter Damien Cave traveled the length of route I 35 and asked people what
being American means to them, he got a variety of answers. For example, one girl felt the need to
advocate for the importance of women in the field of science. Also, Sebastien de la Cruz, who grew

The government and the MNRF refused to listen to the citizens of Northern Ontario and failed

National Park that the government demanded that something must take place. The Northern
Ontario Party is tired of trusting a mismanaged Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry with
ensuring the health and conservation of our fish and wildlife in the North. We are tired of
having our fishing limits lowered and hunting seasons shortened year after year because of
declining wildlife populations. We are tired of hearing the MNRF false promises that they will

The Emigration Of The United States
While the United States were determined to expand across the North American continent by
exercising Manifest Destiny, there were a huge number of immigrants arriving into the nation. The
sudden increase of immigrants entering the country led to disputes over who was American and
who was a foreigner. Native born Americans, specifically the nativist group strongly opposed the
massive influx of immigrants coming from all different countries because the nativists were anti
foreign and anti Catholic. These people were trying to form a distinction and limitation on who was
an American citizen with rights. In the 1850s, the Know Nothing Party emerged as a reaction to the
migration of European immigrants. The Know Nothing Party was a secret organization amongst
members but slowly became known to the public as another political party. This political party
resolved to limit foreigners and Catholics from participating in politics or holding any form of
power in society. Thus, the Irish immigrants were mainly targeted because of their religion.
Discrimination of the Irish based on religion demonstrates that British prejudices about the Irish and
Catholics carried over into the New Republic.
In the United States, like most immigrants, the Irish were doing all the low pay, manual, and
unprofessional jobs. The nativists were worried that the Irish immigrants were tarnishing the image
of urbanized country America was establishing at the time. The social status of the Irish was

The Compound Effect By Darren Hardy

Dr. Carl Wysocki
Book Summary
June 11, 2017
The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy This was a very good and intriguing book to read
throughout the past couple weeks. I thought that Darren Hardy made handling money and life very
simple and easy unlike other books. I Thought for my summary of the book that I would share
some of his great ideas he presented in the book with his wisdom.
Success and failure are the results of the choices that we make everyday. Part of the compound
effect is making the right decision over and over again for a long period of time in order to be
consistently successful. Its all about making the right decision which can be hard at times because
sometimes you don t know what the right decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
every decision, no matter how slight, alters the trajectory of your life (pg.23).
Another great thing I took from this book is to track the habits that you want to change. This is
something that I can apply to my whole life especially the financial part of it. I fid myself
spending my money way to fast and wondering how it disappeared so quickly. In the book it says
to make sure you record everything that you buy so you can make improvements on what you are
doing with your money. Tracking is a simple exercise. It works because it brings moment to
moment awareness to the actions you take in the area of your life you want to improve (pg. 38).
Another great part about this book is when he talks about riding the momentum of success. Its
important that when you find success that you go back to what got you there and work just as
hard as you did before and you will begin to ride this wave or rhythm of success. Achievers
People who get into a successful rhythm continue busting their butts and end up achieving more
and more (pg.94). I think that one of the most important parts of the book is when talks about
developing a routine. A routine is everything, its what you do everyday in order to be successful
and find success in life. Developing a routine develops great habits in every part of

Most Common Type Of Depression
People with depression are often times suffering from a chemical misbalance in the brain,
lacking in either their dopamine or serotonin levels, which in result, leads to people suffering
from depression to feel the sadness they do. Depression is a disorder and takes on many
different forms. The first and most common type of depression is called major depression,
which is considered to be, severe symptoms that interfere with your ability to work, sleep, study,
eat, and enjoy life. An episode can occur only once in a person s life but more often, a person has
several episodes (Depression). Major depressive disorderis measured in terms of mild, moderate,

inhabilitating side effects, some are not experiencing any benefits at all from these drugs. For
people suffering from major depressive disorder who are not content with the antidepressants alone

If suffering from major depression it is well advised by many doctors to consider going to
psychotherapy. There are many different types of psychotherapy, called modalities, which are used
to treat depression. Each of these modalities works in a slightly different way, but all have been
proven to help improve the symptoms of depression (Ciechanowski). The different modalities of
psychotherapy include: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal psychotherapy, family

psychotherapy.
Psychotherapy should be attended by anyone suffering from any forms of depression, because of

Adler s Theory Of Birth Order
Research revolving around the effect of birth order on personality is simple to find, given the
multitude of papers on the subject. Despite this birth order literature is considered ambiguous and
teaming with conflict. Due to the ease of access to these controversial birth order theories, first
time, second time, third time, etc. parents can be influenced by these theories, and thus influence
their children. Rarely is there a study that researches the effect of these birth order beliefs on
children and their progression into adulthood. Nicholas Herrera, R. Zajonc, Grayzyna

Therefore birth rank in my family is unique. As an eldest I did initially experience the dethroning
concept that Adler refers to, suddenly the attention I had from my parents was placed on my
brother. However this was at a greater extreme, given that my brother was not typical, and
required all their attention. After a small time of adjusting, a month at most, I felt protective of
and responsible for my brother, as indicated by Adler. This was also taken to an extreme, as the
role I took on became more similar to that of a parent than to a sibling. Additionally in terms of
Adler s thinking my brother would be removed from the birth rank, making me an only child . In
regards to Adler s theories that only children prefer adult company, use adult language, and are
increasingly successful in intellectual pursuits I align well. Based on Alder s theories I fit, minus

The American Culture Of Strict Conformity Accounts
An American culture of strict conformity accounts for the rise of the phenomenon known as the
Red Scare, as well as its widespread nature and prominent power. The Red Scare was complicated
and a result of many different aspects of American culture. However the American culture in the
1950 s was one of strict conformity. This conformist society, created in the late 1940 s was created
by many early discoveries that uncovered Communist members as Soviet spies. There arose a
prevalent belief that anyone who thought differently was unpatriotic. This conformist nature of
American society thus resulted in few organizations fighting for social justice. The Communist
party therefore attracted a wide range of liberals from different aspects of life. Joseph McCarthy
himself, along with many other governmental officials, was able to institute anti communist laws
and practices under the pretense that an unwavering conformity was the American goal. The
conformist nature of American society in the 1950 s created one of the most powerful anti
communist crusades and allowed for a dominant Red Scare.
McCarthyism rose to power so quickly in the late 1940 s and the early 1950 s because the
perception of an internal Communist threat had just enough plausibility to be convincing .
Americans feared that communists who would overthrow the government were a realistic threat .
During World War Two there were many Soviet spies that had infiltrated many aspects of American
covert operations. Alger

The Role Of Proteins Of A Cell Range From Structural,...
The DNA encodes specific characteristics of an organism which breaks down into genes. The
genes goes through a transcription process. Transcription is where the language of the body s
building blocks is transcribed from DNA to RNA and the body will recognize it so it can carry out
the next process. Translation of the information collected from RNA is the next step. The
information collected is transported to the protein. Certain proteins play specific roles so the body
synthesizes the right protein for the specific job at certain time.
Production of proteins is one of the most significant processes taking place in the cell. The role of
proteins in a cell range from structural, enzymatic and hormonal functions. DNA is responsible for

The double spiral of DNA unwinds and unzips in such a way to release the instructions located for
the given protein. Consequently, the instructions are carried out of the nucleus to the ribosomes.
This point of location of the DNA molecule is called a gene. Genes act as a pattern for another type
of nucleic acid called RNA. Instead of a thymine as in DNA, each adenine of the unzipped DNA
attracts a uracil, U. The other bases follow the same pattern as in DNA i.e., G, T, and C attract
the same partners C, A and G. The single chain of nucleotides which is newly formed is called
messenger RNA and its formation is called as transcription. mRNA carries an exact duplicate of
the information recorded in the DNA and leaves the nucleus with the instructions. The mRNA
molecules are attracted to the ribosomes in the cytoplasm. Another smaller kind of RNA
molecules called transfer RNA (tRNA.) also is there in the cytoplasm. Only one kind of amino
acid can be attached to one end of a tRNA molecule while the other end carries a distinctive tag
to identify it. The strand of mRNA lines up at the ribosome and the base pairs are attracted to their
partners again. The attraction between the mRNA and the tRNA compliments each other. A triplet
sequence of mRNA transcript codes for a specific amino acid and the sequence is called a codon.
A corresponding triplet sequence on the transfer RNA (tRNA) called as

The U.S government has been actively involved in overseeing emission standards for years. This
corresponds with the statement made by the U.S Department of transportation that, Transportation
is the largest end use sector emitting CO2 , and also the statement released by the NRCAN in
which, Fuel usage carbon dioxide emissions have grown steadily over the past two decades.
These factors are only to be associated with your average four door sedan and/or light truck.
These do not include your 18 wheelers, heavy trucks, or the gas guzzling vans that emit more
carbon dioxide into the air and are also on the road more today than ever have been before. Cars
are readily and easily obtainable more so now than ever have been. This creates more fuel to be
burned up in which produces more toxins to be constantly released into the atmosphere. In fact,
according to Scientific American cars relate as much as 30 gallons of GHG, while only driving

commute. According to the United States Census Bureau, Nearly 600,000 full time workers had

up to 500 gallons of GHG. These can be considered some of the bigger factors that the greenhouse
gasses have taken a toll on.
Alongside the uprising rate of cars and the steady growth of GHG emitted, is the influence our

ever imagine that the lives of children are put in danger everyday. Child abuse is commonly
known for physical marks such as bruises or broken bones. It is obvious that some marks are not
from falling off a bike and those are the signs that appear that something is wrong with the child.
According to the Florida Statue, abuse means any willful act or threatened act that results in any

Some believe that name calling should not leave a mark on a person but for young children not
knowing any better or understanding the concept of what is being done to them can make them
truly believe whatever is being said to them. They will believe that they are not smart or pretty
and grow up thinking that they are damaged and are good for nothing. Lastly, abused children
tend to have problems expressing their feelings and regulating their emotions. Some children

Wizard Of Oz
The Wonderfully written and film called the Wizard of Oz was first published in Chicago in
1900. The author, L. Frank Baum, was the editor of a South Dakota newspaper and who also
supported William Jennings Bryan who happened to win three times, uneventfully, as a U.S.
Presidential candidate for the Democratic Party. The main concern of Baum and Bryan was the
nature of the money supply in the United States, and in the Mid Western States in their concern.
In America during the 1890s, in Britain, there had been a severe depression. Several businesses
had gone bankrupt, all farmers were forced to sell up all they had owned, factories closed, and
workers made the unemployed list. Baum and Bryan wanted money to be based on silver, and as

Next, Dorothy encounters a Tin Woodsman, representing the industrial workers in the Mid
West, rusted as solid in the factories of the 1890s depression, and who have lost all of heir sense
of compassion. As well, a spell cast upon himself by the Wicked Witch of the East meant that
every time he swung his axe, he chopped off a bit of himself. Then as they growing party

power, through the power of the one an only Congress and of course the Constitution, to therefore
confront the Wicked Witches, of course representing the banks, but sadly they lack the courage to
do the confronting. Dorothy is able to motivate these three great forces and lead them all towards

The Individualization Of Civility And Civilization
Although religions originated for a common goal, each civilization has developed its own unique
interpretation of religion, which impacts how each civilization fosters hospitality or hostility.
Religions establish morals, such as collectivism, that is used to unite and maintain civilization.
Civilizations develop unique interpretations of religionto organize unification based on a shared
purpose, having concern for community. This diversity allows people to distinguish the
relationship between religion and civilization of unification and structure based on beliefs. The
relationship not only within, but also between civilizations are visible through religions influence
on hospitality and hostility. Throughout history, religions have played a significant role in both the
formation and cooperation of civilizations in various ways including, civilizations forming based on
common principles, the unique perception of religion in various civilizations, and the fostering of
hospitality and hostility through religion in civilizations.
To begin, although religions are uniquely individualistic, they are founded on a common goal, the
establishment of morals within civilizations as well as globally. It is understood that people are
inherently individualistic and prone to self interests. Therefore, religion is used to promote
tolerance and respect. This common goal among religions, although uniquely different, is evident
in nearly all civilizations. For example, jian ai is a part of

Total War Dbq Essay
Throughout history, there have been a multitude of examples of wars brought too close to home.
At times, there comes a point in war where consideration of innocent lives becomes thin, and all
energy is put towards war efforts, rather than any other aspect of human life. These points in
history are referred to as total war. Examples of total war can be seen as far back as in the ancient
civilizations of Rome and Persia, however, the paragon of total war can be found in World War
Two. Based on the overall involvement of a vast multitude of civilians, economies and countries
targeted and impacted throughout the war, World War Two is the strongest example of total war in
American history. To begin with, World War Two shows the most instances

An example of this is the extremely well known poster of Rosie the Riveter created by J.
Howard Miller. The poster reads, We can do it! (Document B), and was meant to encourage
women to join the workforce while men were fighting, specifically in the weapon production
field (History.com). This is an instance in which the United States tried to devote all resources
to the war. Rather than staying at home and practicing the life of a stereotypical woman during
the time, women were motivated to take on new responsibility in order to provide for the war
effort, putting the war above all things. Another American example would be that of food rations
during the war time period. Assigned by the Office of Price Administration, The ration books
contained removable stamps good for certain rationed items, like sugar, meat, cooking oil, and
canned goods (Document C). The rations were put into place so that these types of resources
could be contributed to the war effort (National Park Service), which is a clear example of a
country devoting all of its resources to the war. The civilians were forced to make sacrifices for
the ultimate goal of keeping the war a priority. Another more blatant example of this during the war
can be found in the Soviet

Nowadays, crystal glass is unleaded because its use barium carbonate and zinc and titanium

Sociological Research On Physical Disability
The labelling theory are the actions of individuals who are labelled or seen as deviant. The
theorist Becker suggests labelling theories which is to look beyond by just the norm breaking act
but instead focuses on how society view people who are deemed as deviant in this case physically
disabled and reactions from society whether it is good or bad. Physical disabilityis when a person
lost full or partial loss of their bodily functions. Labelling perspective is still relevant in our
society and for society to be able to look beyond the norm breaking; society needs to develop an
understanding about the difference between disabilities . Stigma labels may produce the deviant
behaviour that is being condemned and therefore individuals can become the thing that they are
labelled as. Stigma are bodily traits, marks or features that are in some way unusual . Which can
occur as a consequence for social rejection.

Part One: Customer Satisfaction
2.1.1Introduction to Customer Satisfaction:
Customer Satisfaction is one of the main topics rises recently. Before years there was a revelation
of a customer service to concentrate on customer, to treat with him in a better way, to please and
fulfill his demands of the customer. In order to achieve that, researchers analyzed the customer
population then took random samples and after that generalized the results and came with
procedures to treat and please the customers. The first thing is spark in the satisfaction of the

Cheefy defined it as the extent to which a customers expectations of product quality, service quality,

The reality of Customer Satisfaction is in the eyes of the beholder the customer. And all about how

According to Business Dictionary definition it is the degree of satisfaction provided by the good or
service of a company as measured by the number of repeat customers.
Or it is the number of customers or percentage of total customers, whose reported experience with
a firm, its products, or its services (ratings) exceeds specified satisfaction goals. (Paul W. and
others, 2010).
Customer satisfaction can be experienced in a variety of situations and connected to both goods and
services. It is a highly personal assessment that is greatly affected by customer expectations.
Satisfaction also is based on the customer s experience of both contacts with the organization and
personal outcomes.
Some researchers define a satisfied customer within the private sector as one who receives
significant added value to his/her bottom line a definition that may apply just as well to public
services. (Cengiz,

Comment and Response to Texting and Writing by Michaela Cullington After reading Texting and
Writing, by Michaela Cullington, I do not agree with many of her viewpoints. Cullington argues
that texting does not affect a students writing. Textspeak, the abbreviation and shortening of words
like used when writinga text message, does affect the way a student writes because they use the
abbreviations, and their writings tend to lack punctuation. When a writer uses excessive
abbreviations on a regular basis they can get stuck in the writer s head causing them to use them in
all of their writings. Cullington did make good points of her own opinion on texting and writing in
her piece, but I disagree with her and believe that texting and... Show more content on

gr8, instead of great, ; dat, in place of that, ; g2g, for got to go, ; hbu, instead of how about you, ;

writer learns and gets used to writing that way, writing papers for school becomes more and more
difficult. A common acronym is LOL which is an abbreviationfor laugh out loud. The abbreviated
for LOL would not be acceptable for an academic paper. Our current generation needs to pay
more attention when writing, and to use correct spelling and not use acronyms to shorten their
written ideas. Writing College, Writing Life s article Learning the Language by Perri Klass

what each acronym means, the paper should be and enjoyable read, not a confusing puzzle. While
writing a paper for school teachers do not approve of abbreviation and acronyms, the writer should
just take his or her time to write our each word correctly. Michaela Cullington believes that texting

Shadow Of The Colossi Essay
You take control of a young man called Wander who has brought the body of young women
called Mono to a temple situated in the forbidden lands. Wander is seeking an entity called
Dormin who possess the ability to bring back her soul from the dead. The Dormin agree to Wander
s request on the condition that he destroys the 16 Colossi that are holding the Dormin captive.
Wander agrees to the request and so begins his journey across the forbidden lands.
To find the Colossi, you need to raise your sword above your head while in a sunlit area which
reflects the light pointing you in the right direction. From there you can hop on your horse Agro
and gallop to each location. Consequently, although Shadow of the Colossus is an open world game,
aside from the Colossi and a few lizards you can eat to gain stamina, there is nothing in the world

Kidney stones are little, hard mineral stores that frame inside your kidneys. The stones are made of

He decided to launch a diversion attack further south. This was to lure Allied troops away from
the main attack in Flanders. These attacks were Ludendorff s attempts to divide and conquer the
French forces. The French were joined by about 85,000 troops from the United States as well as a
portion of the BEF (BEF were mostly in Flanders) and had hundreds of tanks ready. When the
Germans began their advance after artillery bombardment they found out the French had set up
false trenches and artillery positions manned by very few defenders. The real front line of trenches
was further away and was barely scratched by the bombardment. The Germans had been deceived
by French Commander in Chief Philippe Petain. The Allies then formed a massive counter attack to
end the German army for good.
I believe the Battles of the Marne are the 2 most important battles of World War One. The first
battle was very important in keeping the French in the war. And setting up a standstill for around
4 years. Without this battle I don t think the Allied powers would have won the war. France most
likely would have fallen if they wouldn t have held strong at the Marne. If France would ve fallen
many historians believe that the end of the war would ve been different with the Central powers on
top. The second battle of the

Analysis Of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World
The identity of a person is often considered to be synonymous with his culture, whether it be to a
distinct nation, race, or way of thought. However, one of the greatest conflicts a person can endure
is one with himself, when he is caught between the innate desire to belong and a sense of self and
difference from the society that he belongs to. In Aldous Huxleys Brave New World, such is the
case with Bernard Marx. Marx faces the immense dilemma of not fitting in in the greatly
socialized and cohesive civilization that he lives in, the Brave New World. Despite how much
Bernard disdains this world, which he identifies as brainwashed and infantile, he cannot help
desiring to belong. Huxley brilliantly contrasts Marx s hatred of his civilization with his
eventual plea to remain a part of it after his exile is sealed in order to highlight the natural desire
of man to belong, regardless of how different he may feel from his surroundings. While most
people in Bernard s world belong to one of a handful of groups, and are mere copies of identical
clones, Bernard is entirely unique. Despite belonging to the highest caste of Alphas in his society,
Bernard lacks both the physical and psychological characteristics of any Alpha. Unlike everyone
else in his caste, Bernard is very small, lacks the appreciation for trivial games like
electromagnetic golf, and most seriously, believes there is more to an individual than pleasure
seeking and his role as a component of

Christian Mysticism In Canto 27 Of Dante s Purgatorio
In Canto 27 of Dante s Purgatorio, Dante travels through the terrace of lust along with his guide
Virgil and Statius, a poet newly released from Purgatory beginningand begins a transition from an
epic mode to a lyric one. Oddly, reparation for the sin of lust draws Dante back to his past as a
lyric love poet, although such a life is notorious for its connotations with sensuality. However, this
placement indicates a central theme of the Divine Comedy: to ascend to God, Dante must learn to
love Him. Although classic Christian mysticism, such as that of St. Augustine s Confessions, seeks
union with God through abandonment of earthly goods, Dante can only reach the Divine through
the guidance of his old love, the beautiful and saintly Beatrice.... Show more content on

The Cask Of Amontillado Short Story Analysis
Brissa Martinez
ENGL 1302 001
Short story analysis
September 12, 2016
The Cask Casket Poe s use of verbal and dramatic irony in The Cask of Amontillado foreshadows
the both the crime and the death of the characters in the story. Even before the story begins the use
of irony is seen. In the title The Cask of Amontillado the word cask has a similar phonetic to the
word casket, which is synonymous to the word coffin which leads one to believe that there will
be a death in the story. One of the most ironic aspects of the story is the name that Poe gives the
victim Fortunato. The irony sets in that he is very unfortunate to be fooled into such an obvious
trap leading to his death, even with the name he was given and set intelligence he was supposed to
have, but is blurred by the effects of alcohol.
Another use of irony and foreshadowing is that the death was planned during a carnival. A carnival
is usually a time of celebration, in this case it was the carnival before Lent, allowing themselves
to indulge in pagan activities before the self denying 40 days celebrated by certain religions. It
is ironic that this a religious filled activity filled with drunks who have no perception of reality
or self awareness. At the time Fortunato ran into Montresor, Fortunato was involved with the
excess of alcohol which made him become easily fooled and unaware of the reality of his
situation exposing himself to Montresor almost effortlessly. When they are met Montresor is
masked, he seems to be doing in what is in the best interest for Fortunato, wanting to show him
the fine wine, disguising his real intentions under the mask, and Fortunato, of course, was dressed
as a jester. The irony stands in that Fortunato is more willing to follow Montresor once he
removes his mask, once he shows his face and is smiling and leading him down the catacombs.
This is the irony that Montresor is a two faced character. Behind the mask and his words, he hides
his true intentions of revenge and yet when he takes the mask off he is still deceiving Fortunato,
even though one would think that once one is unmasked their true self reveals. Fortunato on the
other hand is portraying himself as a fool in the outfit he is wearing already. It is

Racial Profiling Is A Bad Idea
Gabbi Rodriguez
Barber
Expository Per; 6
12 December 2014
In a 2002 article, Angela A Davis argues how racial profiling is a bad idea because racial
profiling does more harm than good and people don t realize it. Statistics are very reliable such
as; The Department of Health and Human Services reports that 77% of monthly drug users are
white. We can t say that Caucasian people aren t ever racially profiled but you just don t see or
hear it often. This proves that Caucasians can do the same crimes as an African Americanor
Hispanic person can. Racial Profiling is when a police officer or people focus on a certain race or
look and they judge those people I think that racial profiling should be justified but only for
certain types of laws. It should be justified because it s a precaution and it helps to keep people
safe. But I also think that it shouldn t be justified because people never should be judged by their
looks, color of their skin, religion or personal beliefs because if the person is black or Arab
/Muslim, it shouldn t define who they are and it doesn t make them a bad person. A white man
can do the same exact crime as a Black, Hispanic, Muslim or an Asian man can. There s a story of
an African American actress named Daniele Watts, she got arrested for kissing her white boyfriend
in his car. The cops thought that she was a prostitute because she is black and they had to question

needs. Once the scarce resource becomes more and more terrified, people will turn to limit the
usage. Since California has been dried for four years continuously and reached near crisis
proportion, on April 1, 2015, Governor Jerry Brown signed an executive order that will restrict
urban water usage by 25 percent to deal with the drought (Nagourney). The bill seems to make

in Johnson). Technically, farmers use 80 percent of water while cities use 20 percent (Johnson).
However, as Governor Jerry Brown claimed California to reduce water using by 25 percent, he did
not indicate agriculture (Johnson). Yet, Robert Glennon stated that For California to solve its water
crisis must also come from farmers. Definitely, with a huge water consuming, restricting agriculture
will conserve water more significant water than households water saving. Glennon points out that
By my calculations, even a four percent reduction in water consumption could increase by 50
percent the water available for municipal and industrial uses. Thus, to solve drought, California
should not restrict personal water use, but regulate agriculture instead.
Secondly, wisely using appropriate management, water in agriculture is one of the best ways to
control water instead of restricting personal water use. Agriculture consumes about 80 percent of all
water usages in California, and the primary water consuming in agriculture is irrigation. This
irrigation system helps lands that don t annually receive enough rainfall to be utilized for growing
plants. According to University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources Communication

The Car
As I blinked my eyes open, I remembered the screeching of the car. My heart racing at felt like a
thousand s, I finally remembered it had happened so quickly. I layed down until my mind
comprehended what was happening. I heard an easy voice in the distance, Are you all right? It
was the paramedics talking to little sisters. I tried to yell, but the medics walked up to me and
patted me up, and told me to go get my sisters and follow her to the ambulance. I ran crying and
breathing harshly and complaining that they wanted my mom. I felt like crying but I could not.
I had to keep my sisters, who are still 4 years old calm. We went to the ambulance and waited.
Then the police officer walked up to us and asked us some question. I asked him if, I could look
for my dad but he handed me. My dad s phone and my mom s necklace. He told me that the
paramedics took them to the hospital. The police officer thanked us and climbed out the
ambulance. The medic closed the door and drove us to the hospital. As I entered the building,
the nurse tapped my shoulder excuse me are those your parents? She showed me the picture. Yes
but where are they? she didn t reply, she just bowed her head and held my hands, I took a deep
breath and ask her again do know where are my parents have passed away I was dumbfounded
nooooo! , that s not true, you re lying to me why did they leave me? I screamed. I stand taking it

Marketing and Ice Cream
Q1. How structurally attractive is the Russian ice cream market? Discuss how its industry structure
can be made more attractive? (663 words)
The political and financial instability had greatly impacted Russian ice cream industry. The
financial crisis in 1998 and the devaluation of the ruble had greatly reduced Russian market s
consumption ability. It also increased the production cost of Russian ice cream producers who
relied on external market for raw materials. The shrinkage of frozen import market heavily
impacted by the financial crisis forced the wholesales entered the ice cream market, which
intensified the competition in the market. Russian government s value added tax further decreased
the profit of ice cream producers. Beside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would further squeeze the profit margin of producers. Therefore a lower cost would guarantee
better profit margin. Since consumption in this segment had a strong seasonality, the ability to
recoup the cost of extra producing capacity would be necessary to reduce the cost.
Family consumption segment was relative small, but it was the most promising. Compared with
impulsive consumption segment, it had less seasonality since ice cream was eaten in the warm
houses in winter, which reduced the demand to producing capacity. Shelf space in the super market
was crucial to succeed in this segment. To get this valuable resource, two measures should be
adopted. Firstly, building a close relationship with supermarket was a necessity. This cooperation
would guarantee the shelf space. A strong brandwith strong customer preference would pull the
demand and increase the bargaining power with supermarket. Secondly, a special package and
longer quality guarantee period was necessary as well. If the products could be kept long,
supermarket would have to discount the product as the deadline approaching.
CafГ© and restaurant consumption segment was the most lucrative and most demanding segment.
Alignment between the products and lifestyle was the basis in this segment. A high quality product
without a prestige brand could not survive in this segment. Therefore heavy investment on

Langston Hughes Essay
Langston Hughes was a large influence on the African American population of America. Some of
the ways he did this was how his poetry influenced Martin Luther King Jr. and the Harlem
Renaissance. These caused the civil rights movement that resulted in African Americans getting the
rights that they deserved in the United States. Hughes was born in 1902 in Joplin, Missouri. His
parents divorced when he was young and his grandmother raised him. She got him into literature
and education; she was one of the most important influences on him. He moved around a lot when
he was young, due to his parents divorce, but remained a good student and graduated high school.
After this he traveled the world and worked in different places, all the things he... Show more

All of these things, subject matter, themes, style, literary devices, and influences play into the way
that Hughes writes his poetry and they can all be seen in the poem Dream Variations . That is why
the poem is typical of Hughes writing.
The poem is very typical of Hughes subject matter and themes. This is because he usually writes
about racial subjects such as equality and the average life of an African American. Going so far as
to say that most of his poems are racial in theme and treatment, derived from the life that he knows (
An Introduction to Langston Hughes. ). This poem does have the racial topic of equality for a
couple of reasons. To begin with, the speaker talks about how people should see the world and
the other people in it. Key word, should, because he then goes onto say, That is my dream!
(Hughes l. 9). This is one reason why Dream Variations has a theme centered on how everyone
wants to be treated equally. Because the speaker talks about how he wishes he was treated by
the world. Along with the theme of equality the poem s subject is the life of an average African
American. This is because he speaks of how he wants to dance Dance! Whirl! Whirl! Till the
white day is done (Hughes ll. 12 13). Yet he cannot because he has to work, and he tries to make
his work seem like dancing but he is still very tired at the end of the day. This shows the average
life of an African American because they had to work very hard in the early

Columbia and Drug Trade Essay
Columbia and Drug Trade
Nowadays, when someone thinks of Colombia, they unfortunately almost always think of two
things, coffee and cocaine (with its associated guerilla warfare). It is true that during the last 50
years these two products, one legal, and the other not, have been great monetary contributors to the
Colombian economy. Coffee is Colombia s principal agricultural product, and it is also the
country s second largest export. The production of coffee uses 300,000 farms and employs almost
one million people (Steiner 6). Conversely, cocaine is a completely illegal product, but it earns
almost twice as much money as coffee (Steiner 6). Also, in contrast with the production of coffee,
cocaine uses fewer employees but earns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drug dealers have captured a great deal of power in Colombia, and have adopted the position of
the government in many instances. The drug trade has ruined the image of Colombia, and has
caused the world to forget about the other goods produced in Colombia, like coffee, flowers, oil
and gas for instance. As the website put out by the Colombian Government Trade Bureau entitled
Colombia Trade News states,
Colombia is well endowed with minerals and energy resources. It has the largest coal reserves in
Latin America and is second to Brazil in hydroelectric potential. The country s oil reserves total
about 2.6 billion barrels. However, these are estimated to represent less than 20% of the country s
actual oil potential. This site also discusses how Colombia s unique climate and topography allow
for success in production of natural goods such as the aforementioned coffee, flowers, tropical
fruits, and livestock to name a few ( Colombia Trade News ).
The earning of mass amounts of drug money has created a debate about whether the drug trade has
helped or hurt the Colombian economy. Specifically, the debate centers on how narcotics have
affected the economy in the short and long runs because the drug trade, in reality, has brought in
millions of dollars. How this money, earned by trafficking drugs, has returned (or not returned) to
the country and its population through its

Commentary on The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne
The things in life he didn t understand fascinated Nathaniel Hawthorne. He wrote a few stories in a
literary journal called The Pioneer, one of them being The Birthmark . Time significantly influenced
Hawthorne in creating this short story (Wheeler). Aylmer, the main character, uses the scientific
experimentation throughout the story to remove the birthmark from his wife s, Georgiana, face
which results in him killing her. The Birthmark has attempting for perfection, the battle between
science and nature, and the earthly love.
Aylmer trying to make everything in his life perfect is the dominant issue. Unfortunately, he killed
his perfect wife due to an imperfection on her face. The potion he created to completely erase her

Everything Aylmer says relates to him striving for perfection.
Even though science is a main theme in The Birthmark , there is a lot having to deal with nature
as well. Aylmer is talented enough to make aromas from scratch; however, he can t make his
wife live a longer life. He believes he has powers from the knowledge of science. Georgiana is
the main power of natural in the story. She is so in love with her husband that she is willing to
put nature aside for science. Georgiana s birthmark has the power of nature to destroy
everything who sees it. Aylmer asks her to pluck a flower and the whole plant suffered a blight,
its leaves turning coal black as if by the agency of fire (220). The beautiful Georgiana tries to get
a flawless flower thinks It is magical! cried Georgiana. I dare not touch it (220); instead she had
caused the flower to die. Georgiana s touch was like the flaw characteristic that all human beings
had, but Aylmer wanted nothing less than perfect. Aylmer states, there was too powerful a stimulus
(222), in which he meant that the flaw Georgiana has caused that. As the flower continues to die,
Hawthorne is trying to point out that the perfect flower can t survive if something imperfect
touches it.
Aylmer tries whatever he can to erase Georgiana s birthmark and this makes a person question
how does love play a role in this relationship of he s trying to remove

The Merchant Of Venice Character Analysis
In The Merchant of Venice, William Shakespeare examines attractive qualities in a royal suitor
through the casket test designed by Portia s late father. Each suitor s choice represents his
perception of himself, Portia, and marriage, therefore can be anticipated by his words and actions
prior to and during the test. The presence and expression of bravado among the men functions as
the most indicative characteristic of the men s choices, as a man s portrayal of himself can tell a
great deal about his views towards women and relationships. This foreshadowing is accomplished
through their boastful diction, willingness to risk, and reactions to the caskets. As the three caskets
each represent a different viewpoint, the three men also represent three distinct personality types,
thus different expressions of confidence which the reader is able to detect through the suitor s
words and actions as they are systematically written by the author. The prince of Morocco is the
first suitor whose choiceis included in the play. One important factor in his interactions with
Portia is racial prejudice. He immediately feels the need to acknowledge the elephant in the room
with his opening comment Mislike me not for my complexion.... Portia is polite, but by
describing him as fair as any comer I have looked on yet, it is revealed to the audience she is not
enthusiastic about the exotic man, since her earlier suitors were disagreeable in many ways. This
shortcoming may be the reason for

  • 2. Milk Film Analysis Milk, directed by Gus Van Sant, had a strong impact on he as a viewer. This documentary/drama film goes through Harvey Milks process in becoming San Francisco s first openly gay Supervisor. The film gives a great reenactment of the troubles and hardships him and his followers faced before, during, and after his election. Not only does this film focus in Milk s process to Supervisor, but it also pays much attention to gay rights and their fight during this time as well. Milk worked hard to win his title, but sadly his victory was short lived. A year after winning his title he was murdered by ex Supervisor, Dan White. This film was very interesting to watch and it showed me how powerful Harvey Milks actions were. In the beginning of the film when you first met Milk, you saw that he was just any other guy that you d see on the streets. With the way he portrayed himself, I thought he would never win any type of election. He had a nappy, long ponytail, and dressed himself like a hippie. When he lost his first election, I was not surprised. I think Milk realized that he needed to alter his appearance in order to gain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was able to show others that were hiding from their true selves, that they would be accepted the same way he was. By allowing people to feel comfortable with their sexuality, Milk brought the community together. He showed everyone in his community that being different was okay. In my opinion, Harvey Milk being gay, had nothing to do with his assassination. Dan White was angry that he was no longer welcome on the Board, so he took matters into his own hands. If Milk happened to be straight, I feel that White still would ve shot him dead. If Milks murder was because he was gay, the mayor may not have been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Laser Crack Measurement System for Pavement-Management Sytems Pavement management systems (PMS) can work effectively only when they are constructed by organically combining all activities concerned with road pavement (planning, design, construction, maintenance, rehabilitation, evaluation, economic analysis, and research) and the data bank [1]. Then, the most important items are the establishment of a serviceability index, which represents pavement quality, and a prediction of performance, which is represented by the relation between time (and/or traffic) and the index. Pavement quality consists of two primary factors: riding quality and skid resistance. The factors influencing riding quality are pavement distress and/or roughness. Three major factors of pavement distress are cracking, rutting, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, measuring the macro texture is one of the essential components in pavement management applications. The requirements for acquiring these factors are the following: (1) That data acquisition cost is as cheap as possible; (2) that data analysis can be done in a short time; and (3) that data acquisition doesn t influence the speed of other traveling vehicles, in particular on roads with heavy traffic [2]. Pavement surface distress measurement is an essential part of a pavement management system (PMS) for determining cost effective maintenance and rehabilitation strategies. Visual surveys conducted by engineers in the field are still the most widely used means to inspect and evaluate pavements, although such evaluations involve high degrees of subjectivity, hazardous exposure, and low production rates. Consequently, automated distress identification is gaining wide popularity among transportation agencies [6]. With the advancement of 3D sensor and information technology, a high resolution, high speed 3D line laser imaging system has become available for pavement surface condition data collection. Social Institution Vs Organized Crime Essay A social institution is defined as a group of individuals that live in a type of organized arrangement for the main purpose of obtaining a certain goal. The definition of organized crime is a group of individuals that get involved in illegal acts for the main purpose of making a profit. Many of these organized crimegroups are centralized and operated on a local, national, and international level, and can be part of several nations (Shanty, 2007). How the Social Institution and Organized Crime are the Similar Organized crime and a social institution are similar due to the individuals involved in the criminal activities work in unison to gather as much benefit to the group as possible. I believe in being nice to people, making friends with dogs, and keeping my positivity amped up around those I interact with in the hopes that I can brighten their day. I know what it s like to be sad and talk to yourself all day and have nothing seem positive.. I want to bring a little light in people s lives if I can. Ethical Boundaries Misused in Today s Clinical Psychology In today s psychology profession, a therapist and even the client can cross many boundaries if immediate boundaries are not put into place during the initial visit. Some boundaries that are crossed are not a problem at first and then the problem progresses. Leonard L. Glass called these, the gray areas of boundary crossing and violation (429). However, there is further description, Boundary issues mostly refer to the therapist s self disclosure, touch, an exchange of gifts, bartering and fees, length and location of sessions and contact outside the office (Guthiel Gabbard). How Therapist Self Disclosure And Non Disclosure Affects Clients , stated that, The study results suggest that therapist self‐disclosure has both positive and negative treatment implications. It depends on how therapeutic the self disclosure would benefit the client in that given situation, and the client s receptiveness to what information is given to them; for example, one patient may respond positively to a therapist s self disclosure that reveals another safe point of view of an issue, while another patient might feel that therapist s has over stepped their boundaries. Madill et al. stated that, These were sometimes attributed to inexperience and sometimes the characteristics of the total situation, such as events from the therapist s personal life (13). There are times when sharing something from the therapist can help explain an issue that is present during the time of that therapy appointment. Another problem with a therapist s self disclosure is that after years of treatment, the therapist can run out of examples to use to clarify a point made during the appointment. Years and years of treatment sometimes cover issues where the therapist, will add something about himself or herself. People who tend to talk for a very long time during therapy can relate on a level that is not crossing the boundaries. In addition, self disclosure may be a major problem for therapists who live and work in rural communities, because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Emigration Of The United States While the United States were determined to expand across the North American continent by exercising Manifest Destiny, there were a huge number of immigrants arriving into the nation. The sudden increase of immigrants entering the country led to disputes over who was American and who was a foreigner. Native born Americans, specifically the nativist group strongly opposed the massive influx of immigrants coming from all different countries because the nativists were anti foreign and anti Catholic. These people were trying to form a distinction and limitation on who was an American citizen with rights. In the 1850s, the Know Nothing Party emerged as a reaction to the migration of European immigrants. The Know Nothing Party was a secret organization amongst members but slowly became known to the public as another political party. This political party resolved to limit foreigners and Catholics from participating in politics or holding any form of power in society. Thus, the Irish immigrants were mainly targeted because of their religion. Discrimination of the Irish based on religion demonstrates that British prejudices about the Irish and Catholics carried over into the New Republic. In the United States, like most immigrants, the Irish were doing all the low pay, manual, and unprofessional jobs. I fid myself spending my money way to fast and wondering how it disappeared so quickly. In the book it says to make sure you record everything that you buy so you can make improvements on what you are doing with your money. Tracking is a simple exercise. It works because it brings moment to moment awareness to the actions you take in the area of your life you want to improve (pg. 38). Another great part about this book is when he talks about riding the momentum of success. Its important that when you find success that you go back to what got you there and work just as hard as you did before and you will begin to ride this wave or rhythm of success. The American Culture Of Strict Conformity Accounts An American culture of strict conformity accounts for the rise of the phenomenon known as the Red Scare, as well as its widespread nature and prominent power. The Red Scare was complicated and a result of many different aspects of American culture. However the American culture in the 1950 s was one of strict conformity. This conformist society, created in the late 1940 s was created by many early discoveries that uncovered Communist members as Soviet spies. There arose a prevalent belief that anyone who thought differently was unpatriotic. This conformist nature of American society thus resulted in few organizations fighting for social justice. The Communist party therefore attracted a wide range of liberals from different aspects of life. Joseph McCarthy himself, along with many other governmental officials, was able to institute anti communist laws and practices under the pretense that an unwavering conformity was the American goal. The conformist nature of American society in the 1950 s created one of the most powerful anti communist crusades and allowed for a dominant Red Scare. McCarthyism rose to power so quickly in the late 1940 s and the early 1950 s because the perception of an internal Communist threat had just enough plausibility to be convincing . Americans feared that communists who would overthrow the government were a realistic threat . During World War Two there were many Soviet spies that had infiltrated many aspects of American covert operations. Alger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Translation of the information collected from RNA is the next step. The information collected is transported to the protein. Consequently, the instructions are carried out of the nucleus to the ribosomes. This point of location of the DNA molecule is called a gene. Genes act as a pattern for another type of nucleic acid called RNA. Instead of a thymine as in DNA, each adenine of the unzipped DNA attracts a uracil, U. The other bases follow the same pattern as in DNA i.e., G, T, and C attract the same partners C, A and G. The single chain of nucleotides which is newly formed is called messenger RNA and its formation is called as transcription. mRNA carries an exact duplicate of the information recorded in the DNA and leaves the nucleus with the instructions. The mRNA molecules are attracted to the ribosomes in the cytoplasm. Another smaller kind of RNA molecules called transfer RNA (tRNA.) also is there in the cytoplasm. Only one kind of amino acid can be attached to one end of a tRNA molecule while the other end carries a distinctive tag to identify it. The strand of mRNA lines up at the ribosome and the base pairs are attracted to their partners again. The attraction between the mRNA and the tRNA compliments each other. Some believe that name calling should not leave a mark on a person but for young children not knowing any better or understanding the concept of what is being done to them can make them truly believe whatever is being said to them. They will believe that they are not smart or pretty and grow up thinking that they are damaged and are good for nothing. Lastly, abused children tend to have problems expressing their feelings and regulating their emotions. Some children keep quiet to themselves and hold all their emotions inside while others may lash out unexpectedly causing them to become aggressive and harming others. If these emotions are not dealt with right away it will carry on to their adulthood where they will struggle with issues such as anger and depression which then can lead to drugs and alcohol. This is an instance in which the United States tried to devote all resources to the war. Another American example would be that of food rations during the war time period. • 34. Analysis Of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World The identity of a person is often considered to be synonymous with his culture, whether it be to a distinct nation, race, or way of thought. However, one of the greatest conflicts a person can endure is one with himself, when he is caught between the innate desire to belong and a sense of self and difference from the society that he belongs to. In Aldous Huxleys Brave New World, such is the case with Bernard Marx. Marx faces the immense dilemma of not fitting in in the greatly socialized and cohesive civilization that he lives in, the Brave New World. Despite how much Bernard disdains this world, which he identifies as brainwashed and infantile, he cannot help desiring to belong. Huxley brilliantly contrasts Marx s hatred of his civilization with his eventual plea to remain a part of it after his exile is sealed in order to highlight the natural desire of man to belong, regardless of how different he may feel from his surroundings. While most people in Bernard s world belong to one of a handful of groups, and are mere copies of identical clones, Bernard is entirely unique. Despite belonging to the highest caste of Alphas in his society, Bernard lacks both the physical and psychological characteristics of any Alpha. Unlike everyone else in his caste, Bernard is very small, lacks the appreciation for trivial games like electromagnetic golf, and most seriously, believes there is more to an individual than pleasure seeking and his role as a component of ... Oddly, reparation for the sin of lust draws Dante back to his past as a lyric love poet, although such a life is notorious for its connotations with sensuality. • 38. The Cask Of Amontillado Short Story Analysis Brissa Martinez ENGL 1302 001 Short story analysis September 12, 2016 The Cask Casket Poe s use of verbal and dramatic irony in The Cask of Amontillado foreshadows the both the crime and the death of the characters in the story. Even before the story begins the use of irony is seen. In the title The Cask of Amontillado the word cask has a similar phonetic to the word casket, which is synonymous to the word coffin which leads one to believe that there will be a death in the story. One of the most ironic aspects of the story is the name that Poe gives the victim Fortunato. The irony sets in that he is very unfortunate to be fooled into such an obvious trap leading to his death, even with the name he was given and set intelligence he was supposed to have, but is blurred by the effects of alcohol. Another use of irony and foreshadowing is that the death was planned during a carnival. A carnival is usually a time of celebration, in this case it was the carnival before Lent, allowing themselves to indulge in pagan activities before the self denying 40 days celebrated by certain religions. It is ironic that this a religious filled activity filled with drunks who have no perception of reality or self awareness. At the time Fortunato ran into Montresor, Fortunato was involved with the excess of alcohol which made him become easily fooled and unaware of the reality of his situation exposing himself to Montresor almost effortlessly. When they are met Montresor is masked, he seems to be doing in what is in the best interest for Fortunato, wanting to show him the fine wine, disguising his real intentions under the mask, and Fortunato, of course, was dressed as a jester. The irony stands in that Fortunato is more willing to follow Montresor once he removes his mask, once he shows his face and is smiling and leading him down the catacombs. This is the irony that Montresor is a two faced character. Behind the mask and his words, he hides his true intentions of revenge and yet when he takes the mask off he is still deceiving Fortunato, even though one would think that once one is unmasked their true self reveals. It should be justified because it s a precaution and it helps to keep people safe. But I also think that it shouldn t be justified because people never should be judged by their looks, color of their skin, religion or personal beliefs because if the person is black or Arab /Muslim, it shouldn t define who they are and it doesn t make them a bad person. A white man can do the same exact crime as a Black, Hispanic, Muslim or an Asian man can. There s a story of an African American actress named Daniele Watts, she got arrested for kissing her white boyfriend in his car. The cops thought that she was a prostitute because she is black and they had to question her boyfriend, Brian Lucas, if Daniele was actually his girlfriend. In an interview ... Global Warming is on the Rise Essay example Within the last few years, there has been an alarming increase in global warming which refers to the phenomenon of greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere to increase caused by human activities (Maslin,2007). One example that we could use is the example of Tembec. It is a manufacturer of the FSC certified KallimaВ® Coated Cover paperboard and one of North America s largest forestry products companies. It is at the forefront of leading industry change to greener, environmentally friendlier practices. One of Tembec s most recent sustainability exploits was, in May 2010, being one of the major forestry companies to sign the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement, a historic accord between industry, government and some of biggest environmental groups like Greenpeace, the David Suzuki foundation, The Nature Conservancy and the Canadian Parks and Wilderness society. Tembec do three major things to help the environment: they do not construct their industries in green areas, which means that they only put their industries in areas where there is already energy sources and technological sources; they plant trees every year; and, last but not least, they use the things in the forest that are left over. For example, some of the wood shavings are sold to a company that bags them for bedding for pets and livestock. Although Mexico is not one of the biggest greenhouse gases emitters, the government, is concerned about it. According to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. How Water Is An Important For Our Lives Thousands have lived without love, not one without water, W.H. Auden says. It is true that water plays an important in our lives; nobody can survive without water. Importantly, water is a scarce resource which means that society has insufficient productive resources to meet all citizens needs. Once the scarce resource becomes more and more terrified, people will turn to limit the usage. Since California has been dried for four years continuously and reached near crisis proportion, on April 1, 2015, Governor Jerry Brown signed an executive order that will restrict urban water usage by 25 percent to deal with the drought (Nagourney). The bill seems to make sense by limiting the water when it becomes scarce. This order will affect some... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... in Johnson). Technically, farmers use 80 percent of water while cities use 20 percent (Johnson). However, as Governor Jerry Brown claimed California to reduce water using by 25 percent, he did not indicate agriculture (Johnson). Yet, Robert Glennon stated that For California to solve its water crisis must also come from farmers. Definitely, with a huge water consuming, restricting agriculture will conserve water more significant water than households water saving. Glennon points out that By my calculations, even a four percent reduction in water consumption could increase by 50 percent the water available for municipal and industrial uses. Thus, to solve drought, California should not restrict personal water use, but regulate agriculture instead. Secondly, wisely using appropriate management, water in agriculture is one of the best ways to control water instead of restricting personal water use. Agriculture consumes about 80 percent of all water usages in California, and the primary water consuming in agriculture is irrigation. This irrigation system helps lands that don t annually receive enough rainfall to be utilized for growing plants. (663 words) The political and financial instability had greatly impacted Russian ice cream industry. The financial crisis in 1998 and the devaluation of the ruble had greatly reduced Russian market s consumption ability. It also increased the production cost of Russian ice cream producers who relied on external market for raw materials. They would further squeeze the profit margin of producers. Therefore a lower cost would guarantee better profit margin. Since consumption in this segment had a strong seasonality, the ability to recoup the cost of extra producing capacity would be necessary to reduce the cost. Family consumption segment was relative small, but it was the most promising. Compared with impulsive consumption segment, it had less seasonality since ice cream was eaten in the warm houses in winter, which reduced the demand to producing capacity. Shelf space in the super market was crucial to succeed in this segment. To get this valuable resource, two measures should be adopted. Firstly, building a close relationship with supermarket was a necessity. This cooperation would guarantee the shelf space. A strong brandwith strong customer preference would pull the demand and increase the bargaining power with supermarket. Secondly, a special package and longer quality guarantee period was necessary as well. If the products could be kept long, supermarket would have to discount the product as the deadline approaching. His parents divorced when he was young and his grandmother raised him. She got him into literature and education; she was one of the most important influences on him. That is why the poem is typical of Hughes writing. The poem is very typical of Hughes subject matter and themes. This is because he usually writes about racial subjects such as equality and the average life of an African American. Going so far as to say that most of his poems are racial in theme and treatment, derived from the life that he knows ( An Introduction to Langston Hughes. ). This poem does have the racial topic of equality for a couple of reasons. To begin with, the speaker talks about how people should see the world and the other people in it. Key word, should, because he then goes onto say, That is my dream! (Hughes l. 9). This is one reason why Dream Variations has a theme centered on how everyone wants to be treated equally. Because the speaker talks about how he wishes he was treated by the world. Along with the theme of equality the poem s subject is the life of an average African American. This is because he speaks of how he wants to dance Dance! Whirl! Whirl! Till the white day is done (Hughes ll. 12 13). Yet he cannot because he has to work, and he tries to make his work seem like dancing but he is still very tired at the end of the day. This shows the average life of an African American because they had to work very hard in the early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Columbia and Drug Trade Essay Columbia and Drug Trade Nowadays, when someone thinks of Colombia, they unfortunately almost always think of two things, coffee and cocaine (with its associated guerilla warfare). It is true that during the last 50 years these two products, one legal, and the other not, have been great monetary contributors to the Colombian economy. Coffee is Colombia s principal agricultural product, and it is also the country s second largest export. The production of coffee uses 300,000 farms and employs almost one million people (Steiner 6). Conversely, cocaine is a completely illegal product, but it earns almost twice as much money as coffee (Steiner 6). The drug dealers have captured a great deal of power in Colombia, and have adopted the position of the government in many instances. The drug trade has ruined the image of Colombia, and has caused the world to forget about the other goods produced in Colombia, like coffee, flowers, oil and gas for instance. As the website put out by the Colombian Government Trade Bureau entitled Colombia Trade News states, Colombia is well endowed with minerals and energy resources. It has the largest coal reserves in Latin America and is second to Brazil in hydroelectric potential. The country s oil reserves total about 2.6 billion barrels. However, these are estimated to represent less than 20% of the country s actual oil potential. This site also discusses how Colombia s unique climate and topography allow for success in production of natural goods such as the aforementioned coffee, flowers, tropical fruits, and livestock to name a few ( Colombia Trade News ). The earning of mass amounts of drug money has created a debate about whether the drug trade has helped or hurt the Colombian economy. Specifically, the debate centers on how narcotics have affected the economy in the short and long runs because the drug trade, in reality, has brought in millions of dollars. How this money, earned by trafficking drugs, has returned (or not returned) to the country and its population through its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. The Merchant Of Venice Character Analysis In The Merchant of Venice, William Shakespeare examines attractive qualities in a royal suitor through the casket test designed by Portia s late father. Each suitor s choice represents his perception of himself, Portia, and marriage, therefore can be anticipated by his words and actions prior to and during the test. The presence and expression of bravado among the men functions as the most indicative characteristic of the men s choices, as a man s portrayal of himself can tell a great deal about his views towards women and relationships. This foreshadowing is accomplished through their boastful diction, willingness to risk, and reactions to the caskets. As the three caskets each represent a different viewpoint, the three men also represent three distinct personality types, thus different expressions of confidence which the reader is able to detect through the suitor s words and actions as they are systematically written by the author. The prince of Morocco is the first suitor whose choiceis included in the play. One important factor in his interactions with Portia is racial prejudice. He immediately feels the need to acknowledge the elephant in the room with his opening comment Mislike me not for my complexion....
