the horrendous injuries and result of war making it feel real as they experience the brutality of the

refugees faced. Contrast elopes as then the upbeat, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Anatoli Boukreev s Into Thin Air
In the letter Anatoli Boukreev (Responds to Krakauer), Anatoli Boukreev addresses the topic of the
narrative Krakauer wrote Into Thin Air. He argues on behalf of himself after the many false comments
according to Anatoli, Krakauer left behind for him in the novel Into Thin Air. Anatoli would begin
with his biggest point of all that since Krakauer was not there during the storm, he would not have
understood the gravity of the situation. In paragraph 2 Boukreev explains how experienced he is by
talking about his 3 times summiting everest. Also in paragraphs 3 6 Boukreev defends his decision to
descend stating that it was because he was concerned the climbers did not have enough oxygen, he
defends himself again in paragraphs 7 9 about the decision

Rocking Horse Winner and The Destructors Essays
Rocking Horse Winner and The Destructors
There are many differences and similarities between Graham Greene s The Destructors and D.H.
Lawrence s Rocking Horse Winner. One general difference is that in The Destructors the setting is in
Great Britain, after the bombing had happened during World War 1, when the buildings were
destroyed. The setting of Rocking Horse Winner is a suburban community located on the outskirts of
Baltimore, Maryland. This one distinct difference affects the entire background of each story. The
setting of The Destructors brings mood and feeling into the story were ass the setting of Rocking
Horse Winner is just a general setting which could be changed and would not have a significant affect

The children in the story do not seem to be affected by this very much, since they have all pretty much
lived there entire lives like this, except T who comes from an upper class family but is forced into
poverty by the war. To him and the other boys in the story money seems to be of no great significance.
The awkward thing about the family in Rocking Horse Winner is that they all maintain an upper class
status even though they are short on money. This is hard on the family especially the mother who can
feel no love because of the stress that has been forced upon her heart. The family still maintains there
lifestyle as members of the upper class even though the line of money continues to get shorter and
shorter.
Money in each story is scarce, but how the characters in each story cope with this shortage is very
different. In Graham Greene s The Destructors the children know that they are not part of the upper
class but it has minimal affect to there ego or there self esteem. The need for money is not there. In
D.H. Lawrence s Rocking Horse Winner the affect is completely opposite. The family in Rocking
Horse Winner is part of the upper class but the money is not there to uphold this status for much
longer. This is known by the children but there is little or nothing they can do to help. The children

The Life of Artemisia Gentileschi
Life of Artemisia Gentileschi
Italian Baroque painter, Artemisia Gentileschi was born in Rome on July 8th, 1593. Her father Orazio
Gentileschi, who was a painter himself, introduced Artemisia to the art of painting by giving her
lessons in his studio. At an early age, Artemisia displayed her interest in art and it wasn t long until her
father noticed potential in his daughter enough that she would be able to make a name for herself in
the male dominated career. Artemisia had the desire to follow in her father s footsteps, it was then that
Orazio encouraged her to follow her dreams and decided to begin training her as an artist. After
collaborating on a project with the painter Agostino Tassi, Orazio hired him to tutor Artemisia on
perspective due to his skills with landscape. During one of their lessons, Tassi took advantage of
Artemisia and raped her. In their time, if a woman was raped, the man who was responsible had to
marry her. I find it odd knowing that back then it was considered normal for a man to rape a woman
that he wanted to be with and marrying her after. Sounds to me like women had no choice, no say on
who they wanted to be in relationship with. Sadly, in many cases the men who committed the rape
would flee from the situation to avoid getting married after getting what they wanted. Even though the
women weren t at fault, if unmarried women weren t virgins they were seen as tainted, or no good for
another man. After the incident had occurred, Tassi had

Harding s Standpoint Epistemology And Haraway Analysis
Views from Somewhere: Subjectivities and Knowledge Production in
Harding s Standpoint Epistemology and Haraway s Situated Knowledges In
Modest_Witness@Second_Millenium, Donna Haraway profiles the modest witness of science, a self
invisible inhabitant of an unmarked category who is authorized to establish universal facts about the
world without his own embodiment clouding or biasing the world s objective (i.e., seen as the same
from all perspectives) truth. His subjectivity is his objectivity (24). Historically, his objectivity has
been contrasted with the subjectivity and special interests of women and people of color, among other
marginalized groups. Thus, they have always been excluded from science and used as determinants of

Haraway also calls, perhaps more explicitly, for the eradication of the subject/object binary. This
prevents attempts at the modest witness s transcendence (583). She draws attention to many feminists
critique of modern science s view of the object of knowledge as passive and inert (591). Situated
knowledges require the object to have agency, to engage with the subject on the level of conversation.
The subject does not discover the object and then create a real account of it (592 3). Similar to
Harding and standpoint theory, Haraway argues that situated knowledges are about communities, not
individuals: a larger vision necessitates a particular location

Infantile Autism Essay
What is Autism? Did you know, according to CCN, about sixty eight children has Autism Spectrum
Disorder (ASD)? ASD, also known as autism, is a brain disorder that interferes with a person s
behavior and/or interactions with others. The word autism, which has been in use for about 100 years,
comes from the Greek word autos, meaning self. The term describes conditions in which a person is
removed from social interaction hence, an isolated self (WedMD). Autism itself is often called autistic
disorder , childhood autism , or infantile autism . It appears in infancy and early childhood, causing

The word Autism was first used in 1908 to describe schizophrenia, a brain disorder in which people
interpret reality abnormally, people who were self absorbed or cocky. In 1943, Dr. Leo Kenner was the
first to used Autism for kids who were highly intelligent but did not want to interact with others, he
called this early infantile autism. In 1950, Bruno Bettelhiem, a child development specialist, viewed
autism was being caused by emotionally cold and distanced mothers. This became known as the
Refrigerator Mother Theory . The Refrigerator Mother Theory is when a mother does not interact, or
play, with the child at all, causing the child to be fridged ( David E. Simpson, J.J. Hanley, and Gordon
Quinn in the film History of Autism Blame ). In 1987, The DSM ( Dianostic and Statistical Manual of
Matal Disorders) replaced infantile autism with autism disorder . Around this time, researchers used to
think the cause of autism was due to bad parenting. Not only that, the federal government made autism
a special education category. This allowed public schools to start knowing children with autism and
offer them special services. Some children would be sent to foster care to see if they would recover
back then, By this time, many researchers were convinced that the basic reasons were to be found in
neurological disturbances, sometimes combined with hereditary illnesses like tuberous sclerosis,
metabolic disturbances like PKU or chromosomal aberrations such as fragile X chromosome (Certec).
In 1994, the National Alliance for Autism Research and Cure Autism Now raised awareness about
ASD. Later on that year, researchers began to believe that the cause of autism was due to mercury in
vaccines. This lead to vaccine makers to stop making thimerosal, a vaccine that is made of mainly
mercury. In 2001, the National Institute of Health could not find

The character, Jim McLain, from the film Big Jim McLain, stated in one of the last scenes of the film,
there are a lot of wonderful things written into our constitution, that were meant for honest, decent
citizens. I resent the fact that it can be used by the very people who want to destroy it in reference to
members of the Communist party (Fellows, Wayne Ludwig, 1952). Big Jim McLain, is an anti
communist propaganda film from 1952 that focuses on highlighting the ills of communism. Jim

The article, John Wayne and Big Jim McLain (1952): The Duke s Cold War Legacy by Ron Briley,
helps to construct the idea similarity in characterization of individuals in the Communist party with
true Americans . Ron Briley refers to one of the scenes from the film as the disturbing element of the
investigation because of the betrayal of an elderly Polish American couple, the Lesters, who turn in
their son Ed White to the HUAC investigators (Briley, 29). The Lesters, turned against their son
because of his involvement with the Communist party, which shows a contradiction to the American
ideal of loyalty to your family and instead places the greatest loyalty to a cause or country, that has
been a focal point criticized in cinema towards communist, who spy and turn against and report their

Mexican American history is overwhelmed with rich culture and vast experiences. The struggles and
challenges this diverse group of people possessed throughout time to bring about change prove
important to the history of the world in many aspects and regards. Whether or not to teach Mexican
American history in classrooms throughout the United States is a hot topic of debate. However, to
forget about an entire race and culture of a people is to sweep much larger issues under the rug such as

Curly Girl Research Paper
Every curly girl knows that when it comes to conditioners, slip is crucial. Slip is everything. Slip is
life. Slip in a product refers its lubricity i.e. its ability to reduce friction so that strands of hair slide
past each other (instead of becoming tangled) and detangling tools can pass through hair with relative
ease. The amount of slip a product provides is an indicator of how easily knots and tangles will
become undone when you slide a comb, brush or fingers through the hair after you ve applied that

since this is the step in a hair regimen when hair is typically detangled.

Making The Game Chased By Snakes As Part Of The Group...
Introduction
This report will look back on the group project to make the game Chased by Snakes as part of the
group Danger Noodle. This will look back at how the group managed the project with a flat structure
and relaxed development deadlines and how this affected the final project. The report will then look at
the requirements set by the client, and how these were finalised for implementation. Then the
implementation of the project will be discussed looking back on how the features were put into the
game. Lastly the report will reflect back on how the project went as a whole and what could be
improved in the future.
Methodology
For this project it was decided by the group to use a flat management structure, and to follow a system
akin to free development. This method meant that none of the group was the project manager, and
instead the thing keeping people on track was their self motivation to complete the project. To aid with
completing the project at the start of the project a list of work was set out from the requirements, and
then each member of the group picked the tasks that they could complete for the year. The main
reason such a free and unstructured approach was taken was that the group had worked together
before using the idea and so it was known to work. The second reason it was used was to allow
members of the group to focus on this project when they had time and focus on other university units
when needed.
The first problem with the unstructured

How We Are Affected by People s Views of Nature
How people s views of nature have changed over time in the United States of America and how it has
affected us is a great question. Looking back through history makes it simple to answer this question.
People have very different opinions on to what their answer would be. Reading Out of the Woods
edited by Char Miller and Hal Rothman, Dust Bowl: The Southern Plains in the 1930s by Donald
Worstter, Nature s Metropolis: Chicago and the Great West by William Cronon, The Ecological Indian
by Shepard Krech III, and Something s Rising: Appalachians Fighting Mountaintop Removal by Silas
House makes it easy to comprehend and to answer how our views of nature have changed.
Looking all the way back to the early Indians, Shepard Krech III, the author of The Ecological Indian,
the Indians were not the one with nature individuals you thought they were. Most people that first
think of the Indians were one with nature because of movies and old folk tales. They were reckless
and took advantage of their environment. They used more resources than they clearly needed. The
Indians would waste their animals that they hunted. They caused many problems with the ecosystem
involving plants and animals triggered for the use of fire. They involved fire to clear the undergrowth
of the forest. Their reasoning to do this was because it made travel significantly easier, it made a better
area to hunt, and they used it as protection. Many individuals believed that the Indians were

Supply And Demand Factors Influencing The Physical Gold...
Introduction
Gold has been one of the valuable desires for the past thousands years. Its rarity, indestructibility and
malleability, enabled it to be the main interest to both, the individuals and businesses. As a result of
these properties, the exploration of gold has been of central significance .The intention of this study is
expand on many of the theories and notions concerning supply and demand factors influencing the
physical gold market.
The study of demand analysis is very essential for any entrepreneur because their main objective is to
maximise the profit with efficiently allocating the limited resources provided. The demand analysis
supports in enhancing output with systematically utilizing the resources as well as selling the output
for maximum profits (Chimoriya, 2015). It allows the entrepreneur to: forecast necessity and sales,
determine prices, decisions relating to profit.
To begin with, it will be very useful to look at the PEST Analysis where the gold market is analysed
from the 4 different points of view.
Political:
Government has a huge impact in the gold industry. It imposes royalties on gold mining, which affects
the competitiveness. Alongside, many policies set by the government restrict and control the supply
and demand for example hoarding and dishoarding the gold (Unknown, 2015). Firstly, in order to
encourage miners to mine more gold, the government hoards the gold. Secondly, when the demand for
gold increases

Styles Of Leadership
In this assignment I aim to outline the advantages, disadvantages and overall effectiveness of the
different styles of leadership.
Authoritarian, or Autocratic, leaderships revolve around a single leader, and those close to them,
whose word is law and power absolute. Authoritarian leaders are confident in their ability to lead and
to take charge. This means that they should be taken seriously at all times; if a subordinate does not
take them serious they may lash out, threaten or simply punish the individual or the entire group to get
their point across. They also prioritise the task over the individual and the group
This leadership style is best suited to emergency situations when the leader is competent and confident
in his ability to succeed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Democratic works well with skilled and motivated people because they want choice or the ability to
influence one; the leader also wants to hear what people have to say because they want input and new
ideas to directly improve conditions for the group.
The main negative of Democracy is that the leader cannot easily appeal to the minority without
angering the majority because they will lose more support than they gain. Not everyone has an interest
in politics or voting these people are generally happy either way or impossible to please. Another
problem is that because more people are involved with leading the country secrets could leak; this
could be personnel secrets about the leader or even military related secrets.
Democracy is like Autocracy because there is only one leader and they will make the final choice,
however a Democratic leader values the opinions of his subordinates and will choose based on that.
Decision making in a Democracy is very slow when compared to Authoritarianism because the time it
takes for a vote is time

Bullying At The State Of Nevada
We all might still recall back to our school days and the bully on the playground making recess
intolerable for some; or perhaps in the lunch room bully who helped themselves to our desserts. That
bully might have ended up in the principal s office, but likely not much more became of them. Bullies
have always been around, but now they have changed their preferred tactics. With the growth of
technology making our ordinary lives simpler, criminals and bullies have also used technology to aid
them in their transgressions. Many bullies have advanced to become cyber bullies and their chosen
scare tactic makes use of computers, cellular phones, or some other type of communications device.
What then is the actual definition of the act of bullying? Bullying in the State of Nevada is defined as
carrying out actions that may be highly offensive to a reasonable person and intended to cause the
student to suffer harm or serious emotional distress (Cyberbully tactics are focus of state law, 2010).
Cyber bullying elsewhere is bullying by means of electronic communication (Cyberbully tactics are
focus of state law, 2010). In Texas, bullying means engaging in written or verbal expression or
physical conduct that will physically harm another student or student s property, or is persistent
enough to create an intimidating or threatening educational environment for a student (Grobe, 2012).
These definitions are typical of those used in other states. Advances in

The Concept Of Individual Rights
The concept of individual rights refers to the freedom each individual possesses to pursue life without
interference from other individuals or the government. A community is a collection of said
individuals, with common interests and values, who take up community responsibilities to ensure that
the collection holds objective standards that are beneficiary to all. Even though these concepts are
intrinsically linked, in that one cannot survive without the other, there is often a desire to separate
them and define where one ends and the other begins. Human social life can often be seen as a unity
of two seemingly contradictory behavioral ideas: status competition and reciprocity. Status
competition is the practice of striving to establish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Considering the teacher student relationship between Socrates and Plato, similarities between the two
s philosophies are quite obvious, though they might be conveyed in different ways.
In The Apology, Socrates presents his defense to his jurors when on trial for teaching nontraditional
philosophies and, allegedly, affecting the community adversely. In this account, Socrates explains that
his behavior stems from a prophecy by the oracle at Delphi which claimed that he was the wisest of all
men. Recognizing his ignorance in most worldly affairs, Socrates concluded that he must be wiser
than other men only in that he is aware of his own lack of knowledge. In order to spread this peculiar
wisdom, Socrates explains that he considers it his duty to question supposed wise men and to expose
their false wisdom as ignorance. In a famous passage, Socrates says that God specially appointed him
to the city, as though it were a large thoroughbred horse which because of its great size is inclined to
be lazy and needs the stimulation of some stinging fly (The Apology, 30e). Without him to rouse,
persuade, and reprove the community, Socrates claims society is liable to drift into a deep sleep of
unproductive activity and ethical laziness. When people ask why Socrates cannot quietly mind his

Courtroom Reflection
Through this assignment I have gained insight and applied ample knowledge that I learned in the
classroom to the courtroom. Through my various experiences in multiple court room settings I
witnessed everything from an individual in municipal court driving without a license just so he could
get Whataburger, owners of an apartment complex with 161 fire violations totaling over $2,000 in
fines and tickets, an environmental safety court, and finally ending with a preliminary hearing of
murder in the first degree, along with two counts of drive by shooting, and a felon in possession of a
firearm. Out of all my court room experiences, the one that I learned the most in was the preliminary
hearing which was CF 17 3297, State vs. Jose. The preliminary trial was held for Jose Mascote, with
Judge Kevin McCoy residing. Mascote s defending attorney was Mike Arnett and the Assistant
District Attorney, Dan Gridley, was present on behalf of the state. During this hearing I was truly able
to grasp the notion that with all preliminary hearings and trials the lawyers use their words, witnesses,
and evidence to paint a story in your mind of the scenario that occurred. We were able to observe a
total of 13 witnesses called to the stand by the state attorney. Since this was a preliminary hearing
most of the information that the witnesses testified about was to verify that the events did occur, that
the states exhibits were viable, and to prove that there is good intent for an actual trial. The very first
witness was the owner of a business called ID Solutions located near the crossroads of 38th and
Robinson. This witness was actually tied to the states exhibit 1 and 2. States exhibit 1 was a bird eyes
google view of the business and nearby crossing intersections, to which the witness verified during
examination. States exhibit 2 was surveillance video that shows shots being fired at the victim out of a
blue Dodge Avenger. The second witness called to the stand was allegedly walking down the street to
the Buy for Less by 39th and Shields with his pregnant cousin when the defendant reportedly drove by
and made threatening comments. According to the witness the defendant then shot out of the

Physical Dimensions And Land Title Act
Physical dimensions of property
Property comes with stings attached; a fee simple owner can enjoy a bundle of rights but there are a
number of reservations to the Crown as well as restrictions on the physical dimensions and use of
property. By utilizing a fundamental principle of Ad coelum doctrine and a three dimensional concept;
surface, airspace and subsurface of property, rights of landownership and use of property will be
examined. Then I will present three cases that modified the principle or physical dimensions.
The basic principle
Historically the common law maxim: cujus est solum ejus est usque ad coelum et ad inferos He who
owns the soils, owns up to the heavens and down to the depth of the earth, was said to apply to
physical dimensions of property. Ad coelum doctrine, however, is largely outdated and inaccurate in
BC because the use and the extent of land in three dimensions are regulated. Before discussing rights
and restrictions, I will explain physical boundaries.
Boundaries and Land Title Act
In old days, description of boundaries of land used physical objects. Toady in BC with a few
exceptions, meets and bounds, measurement of distances, angles, and directions measured by
surveyors, are included in Land Title System. In the past when a party wrongly assumes the boundary,
without any contracuaral agreement the law of adverse possession could alter the title. Although the
law has been abolished in BC by sections 24 and 171 of the Land Title Act (LTA)),

Descriptive Essay About Northern Pines Restaurant
Northern Pines Restaurant; Mediocre at best
Looking for a new place to eat that is affordable and food that tastes amazing? If so, Northern Pines is
not for you!! Do not be deceived by what is perpetrated on the web. Upon internet investigation, The
Northern Pines Restaurant is a relaxed go to for all day American fare with a 4.3/5 rating I was
expecting a lot more than what was presented to me. The main reasons I was ill fated by this restaurant
was the eerie atmosphere, price of the food, and the overall poor service I experienced.
To begin with, the atmosphere was all but welcoming. Being new to the Flagstaff area, I was unsure of
the location of this diner. When I arrived there, I was immediately confused on if I was given the
correct address because the place I had arrived at looked rather scary. Northern Pines was a small
diner located between two sleazy hotels surrounded by three gas stations and a pub. The exterior was
unsettling to say the least with the lack of lights except for one fluorescent green light that made me
feel like I was in a bad indie horror flick. The inside, while slightly better, did not give off the
impression I had been hoping. When I walked in I was immediately engulfed by a smell similar to my
grandmothers closet, choosing to ignore it, I realized while how off putting the smell, it was not
necessarily a death sentence. Another reason the atmosphere was very uncomfortable was due to the
loudness of the workers there. For example, the

The Methyl Red, Microbiology Laboratory Theory And...
The Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer broth is a combination medium that contains peptone, glucose,
and a phosphate buffer that produce proteins, fermentable carbohydrates, and a consistent pH level
(Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory Theory and Application). The Methyl Red test uses the Methyl
Red and Voges Proskauer broth to determine if an organism produces stable or unstable acid by
performing a mixed acid fermentation of glucose. If an organism produces a stable acid, it is positive
for executing the mixed acid fermentation which then lowers the pH level in the broth to 4.4 and turns
it red. Unstable acids convert to neutral products and the broth will stay yellow or turn orange, both
indicate a negative mixed acid fermentation (Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory Theory and
Application). Two of the four bacteria used had red broth indicating positive test results for mixed acid
fermentation with glucose, they were Escherichia coli and Proteus vulgaris, my known bacteria. The
other two bacteria, Alcaligenes faecalis and Enterobacter aerogenes, and unknown bacteria D were
negative for mixed acid fermentation. Based on these test results, my unknown could be Alcaligenes
faecalis or Enterobacter aerogenes. The Voges Proskauer test used the Methyl Red and Voges
Proskauer broth to determine if an organism produces acetoin after the degrading of glucose during a
2,3 butanediol fermentation (Leboffe, A Photographic Atlas for the Microbiology Laboratory). Only

Biography of Andy Whorl
Andy Whorl Andy Whorl was a popular American print artist in the 1960. He helped create the style
of art known as Pop Art. Pop Art showed what was popular in American culture; products, celebrities,
etc. Andy Whorl s career started out as a commercial artist. Some of his fellow artists admired him and
his work, while other did not consider him a true artist. He displayed some of his work in museums
and became famous. A friend of Andy told him to make art based on everyday things, so Andy made
his famous picture of the multiple Campbell s soup cans. Whorl used mass production to make some
of his artwork like the Ten Lizes featuring Elizabeth Taylor. His mass production method involved silk
screening. Before he could make the silk screen products, he had to have the images enlarged several
times. The method of silk screening and mass production allowed Andy Whorl to have a team create
his work instead of himself slaving away on his work. His team worked out of his studio in New York
City. His studio, which he called The Factory , had three locations throughout New York City. Andy
Whorl used consumerism in his art. He made prints of pictures of famous people like Marilyn Monroe
and Elizabeth Taylor. Some of his artwork has sublime tones of death. For instance his obsession with
Elizabeth Taylor started when her husband died. He also started his artwork of Marilyn Monroe after
her death. His inspiration for his Jackie Kennedy series was the assassination of her husband,

Civil Society And Globalization Essay
A globalized society creates an increasingly complicated set of forces and factors that bring people,
cultures, markets, and beliefs together. The improvement of technology, transportation, and
communication means that in the last century businesses, governments, and people are being drawn
into greater proximity with one another. As a result, the notion of civil society is slowly being
challenged because state borders are no longer containers of society , meaning that the state is no
longer a fixed unit of sovereign space (Agnew, 59). One of the key phenomenon of globalization is the
emergence of a global civil society. Global civil society refers to the vast assembly of groups
operating across borders and beyond the reach of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, global civil society and globality/globalization are two ideas that are inherently linked and
interdependent on the definitions of one another. Globalization is a key concept that engenders a set of
terms that embody it. Terms like interconnection, interdependence, liberalization, etc make us think of
a global situation that is marked by intense interaction and interdependence between country units
(Scholte, 237). Therefore, global civil society is what defines relations and social connections in a
globalized world where territorial location, territorial distance, and territorial borders do not have a
determining influence because the idea of place as territorially fixed is diminishing (Scholte, 237). An
important concept of civil society is its influence on civic activity on a domestic scale and the
influence that activity has on the organization of national politics. A large reason why the development
of global civil society occurred was in response to the changing political environment as a result of
globalization. According to Scholte, new geography has ended the state s effective monopoly on
governance that developed under conditions of territorialism (241). In other words, in the new post
sovereign world policies and administration does not adequately reflect citizenship and democracy
because these ideals no longer center around the state. That is why global civil society is the attempt
of citizens to

Two issues that are related to juvenile delinquency are substance abuse and mental health issues. The
Juvenile Justice System is contantly being reevaluated for reform. The desensitization of today s youth
to drugs and violence can lead to them trying drugs for the first time at younger ages. Soceity is also
seeing an increase in young people with mental health issues today than ever before. My wife worked

Psoriasis
Most of the time when a person is nervous or sad, they become sensitive when other people are aware
of these feelings and quickly try to learn to hide their emotions. Many ways you can determine this
nervousness is a person may breathe heavily, stumble on their words, and avoid eye contact during a
presentation. All of these may be true, but the most obvious factor of nervousness affects the body s
largest organ the skin. When a person blushes, it is easily exposed that the person is nervous. The
linkage between skin and psychology plays an important factor in life and may be the root of all acne,

It is a common dermatologic disorder that often goes undetected and untreated where the body does
not shed their excess skin cells, but instead the skin cells pile up on the surface of the skin, causing
thick red plaques covered with silvery scales. Psoriasis may look contagious, but it s not. When the
immune system functions properly, the system protects the body against any invaders that might make
you sick, such as bacteria, viruses or other pathogens. But in people with psoriasis, the immune
system goes into action even without these invaders. Instead, the immune system fights the body s
own tissues. Although it is a genetic condition, stress can have an impact on the immune system as
well and doctors have long suspected a link between stress and psoriasis. According to
Psychodermatology: A Guide to Understanding Common Psychocutaneous Disorders, stress has been
reported in 44% of patients prior to the initial flare of psoriasis, and recurrent flares have been
attributed to stress in up to 80% of individuals. Early onset psoriasis before age 40 may be more easily
triggered by stress than late onset disease, and patients who self report high levels of psychologic

Descriptive Essay On Dodo Bird
Shifting The View of The Dodo
Picture yourself running through the woods as quickly as your legs can move you, with a heap of
emotions running through your brain. You feel betrayed, offended, helpless, terrified. You have never
been an aggressive animal. You are friendly, you don t eat animals, and it s not like you have the
abilities to overpower anything if you do eat them. This may aid your imagination of what the dodo
bird went through while being hunted down by the Portuguese. The dodo bird may seem like an
unvarying animal; however, the bird, it s misconception, and how it became extinct are intriguing in a
way that you may find odd.
The dodo bird is not an extremely famous bird, like the beautiful parrot, or the perfectly pink
flamingo. Many people aren t educated on what the bird was genuinely like, or even what the bird is.
The dodo is a flightless bird from an island in the Indian Ocean called Mauritius. It is part of the
Raphidae family(Dodo 1), which consists of pigeons and doves. The dodo clings to the forest in
Mauritius and has been extinct since the 17th century(Extinct Bird 1), eating only nuts, fruits, or seeds
it found on the ground(Viral Stats). The dodo bird has a comical appearance, that one could only
imagine. It s unique visuals were small useless wings, thick yellow legs, and a tuft of feathers high on
its rear end (Dodo 2). These odd characteristics made it easy for people to deride the dodo bird. In
terms of size, the dodo was larger than a turkey, it weighed about 23 kg (about 50 pounds)...blue gray
plumage...23 centimetre (9 inch) blackish bill with reddish sheath forming the hooked tip (Dodo 1).
Although it s not a very popular bird, the dodo has been featured in books and movies, such as Alice
in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, or Dick, Marjorie and Fidge:a search for the wonderful dodo
(Farrow and Wright). While these two pieces are very contributing to the discovery and familiarity of
the bird, they are also very contributing to the controversial misconception of the bird.
There is a national misconception of the appearance and intelligence of the dodo bird. Most people
view the dodo bird as...well, as a dodo. However, according to Emily Anthes multiple studies, this isn

Disconnection And Alienation In St Patrick s College By...
An author s personal experience gives authenticity to their text. Peter Skrzynecki, an Australian poet
of Polish origin emigrated to Australia shortly before the end of World War II. His assimilation into his
newfound homeland is portrayed in his emotive poetry, where he explores his disconnection and
alienation. The way in which Skrzynecki writes about his personal experiences gives an authentic
insight into the perspective of a migrant, allowing the audience to better understand the challenging
emotions evoked by the migrant experience. These emotions are clearly seen in Skrzynecki s poem St
Patrick s College, where he delves back through his experiences at school and highlights the
disconnection and alienation he felt being a migrant. This disconnection is further expressed in Feliks
Skrzynecki, where Skrzynecki alludes to his detachment from even his father. These feelings of
disconnection and alienation shown by Skrzynecki in his poems, allows the audience to understand the
effects of growing up as a migrant.
The process of transitioning into a new context can put pressure on an individual to belong, leading to
disconnection for the individual if they don t belong. Peter Skrzynecki was enrolled into a Catholic
School after his family migrated from Europe to Australia. The effects of this change in context for
Skrzynecki is portrayed in his poem St Patrick s College, where he gives authentic personal insight
into the challenges faced by migrants growing up in a new

A new law will probably be introduced into state legislatures which will govern all contracts for the
development, sale, licensing, and support of computer software. This law, which has been in
development for about ten years, will be an amendment to the Uniform Commercial Code. The
amendment is called Article 2B (Law of Licensing) and is loosely based on UCC Article 2 (Law of
Sales), which governs sales of goods in all 50 states. A joint committee of the National Conference of
Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) and the American Law Institute is drafting the

Article 2B says that the publisher doesn #8217;t have to show software customers the terms until after
the sale, when it #8217;s too late to do comparison shopping. By then, the consumer has already
started installing the software. The customer is deemed to have accepted the terms of the contract if
he/she uses the product instead of returning it. All of the terms of the agreement are now fully
enforceable as if the consumer had reviewed, discussed, and signed a paper contract before the sale.
Many of the shrink wrap software licenses say that once you break the seal and use the software, you
#8217;re releasing the vendor from all warranties. Basically, the software has been sold #8220;as is
#8221; and you #8217;ve given up your legal recourse if it doesn #8217;t perform as claimed,
damages your computer, or has bugs that lead to errors. Under the Magnuson Moss Warranty
Improvement Act customers are entitled to see the warranty of any goods sold for $15 or more. It is
not unreasonable to assume that software purchased for home usage would be covered by the Act. But
software customers rarely get to see the warranties provided with software until after the sale. Article
2B characterizes mass market software sales as licenses, which may not be covered by the Magnuson
Moss Act. Products normally come with an implied warranty of merchantability, which states that the
product will be fit for ordinary use, it will

Remark: This illustrates an important point. The fair price of a stock cannot be determined by the risk
neutral pricing, as seen below. Suppose S1 (H) and S1 (T ) are given, we could have two current
prices, S0 and S0 . Correspondingly, we can get u, d and u , d . Because they are determined by S0 and
S0 , respectively, it s not surprising that risk neutral pricing formula always holds, in both cases. That
is, 1+r−d u−d S1 (H) S0 = + u−1−r u−d S1 (T ) 1+r , S0 = 1+r−d u −d S1 (H) + u −1−r u −d S1 (T )
1+r . Essentially, this is because risk neutral pricing relies on fair price=replication cost. Stock as a
replicating component cannot determine its own fair price via the risk neutral pricing formula. 1.4.

An Analysis Of Shirley Jackson And The Lottery
Many people are following crowds all over the world. Some crowds are not the best to follow yet
people still follow them. Following a crowd can be misleading and can also l have consequences. The
Lottery by Shirley Jackson takes place in a small village on June 27th, with about 300 people. The
characters in the short story are Bobby, Harry Jones, Dickie Delacroix, Mr. Summers, and Mr.
Hutchinson. The main idea of First They Came... by Martin Niemoller, is standing up for what is right
isn t always the easiest path. I believe that following a crowd, and standing up for what is right is not
always the right path or easiest path.
To begin with, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson is different than First They Came... by Martin
Niemoller because the themes are not the same The Lottery conveys that following a crowd can lead
to consequences; for example, in paragraph 19, All ready? he called. Now, I ll read the names heads of
families first and the men come up and take a paper out of the box. In other words, this shows that all
of the people of the town participated in the traditional game. In paragraph 77, Tessie Hutchinson was
in the center of a cleared space by now, and she held her hands out desperately as the villagers moved
in on her. It isn t fair, she said. A stone hit her on the side of the head. In this paragraph Tessie
Hutchinson is about to get stoned to death because she picked the slip of paper that had the black dot

The Period Of The Antebellum South
The period of the antebellum south was among the most burdensome times for African American
slaves, especially females. During the early 1800s the lives of enslaved women were extremely
demanding. The female slaves were expected to bear children, as well as were required to work just as
hard as the male slaves on the plantation. Days were long and laborious for slave mothers, they had to
make sure that all the work that needed to be done was completed, and also care for their children.
Female slaves jobs varied from housework, to field work. Slave mothers knew that giving up on their
work was not an option, they had to persevere for their families. Motherhood and work went hand in
hand for female slaves, one was not able to do one and not the other. Field labor was an unavoidable
task that was fulfilled by nearly all slaves in the antebellum south. There was no gender discrimination
in the fields, female slaves had to perform almost all of the plantation chores. Some of the chores
female slaves were obligated to complete were picking, hoeing, plowing, mending fences, burning
fields, weeding, planting, and harvesting. The work day was long and grueling, slaves worked from
sunrise to the sunset. Working the fields was a strenuous job, however it was not done alone. They
acquired the opportunity to work beside other female slaves. The groups of female slaves in the fields
were called gangs. The gangs often sang, talked quietly, and passed along confidential information.

Botanist named Brady Jones. After Brady there is Victor Brown, who is an astrologist. Then Sean
Jennings, who is one of the best pilots to ever live. Last but not least Jasmine Taylor, the only girl of
the group who was an engineer for anything that flies. This is the Mars team and they have to work

feels like the speed of light! They were going so fast that it almost made Victor throw up. Once they
got into space they were all so happy and glad that they made it to space. The ride to go to Mars will
be 3 years, so they will have enough time to enjoy zero gravity in space.
It has been two years since they have left the earth and they are all bored. It is a lot more boring in
space than they thought. But then they think that they saw the most beautiful sight that they have ever
seen. It was Mars. It was way redder than the pictures that they have seen in their life. They just
thought about it and soaked it all in. They knew that this is what they have been working for their
whole life. But then suddenly a small asteroid hit the spaceship and it shook the whole ship. They
knew that this is going to be trouble. They found out that there was a small hole in the side of the
space ship. But even a hole that small could still kill all of them so they needed to act quickly. Jasmine
knew that out of all of them, she was the only one that can fix it. It will be very difficult to fix but
Jasmine knew that she is the best for the job. Jasmine couldn t fix the small hole from the inside of the
space ship. She has to go outside in space, while they are moving. This has never been done before,
but Jasmine is the right for the

The Thin Red Line Presents War
We return to the present and we see Ryan questioning whether he was a good man and made the most
of his life for the sake of those soldiers who laid their life down for his. His wife reassures Ryan that
he honored their memory. The ending presents itself as a perfect ending, even though many died for
Ryan he did not squander the opportunity granted to him and he upheld their memory. In the end it
was a perfect Hollywood blockbuster, everything happened for a reason and it was a beautiful story
filled with friendship, hardship, loss, and love. Those are the characteristics we use to romanticize
war, a journey full of loss, hardships, and friendship that in the end there is peace. The Thin Red Line
presents war in a different light the entire premise is the war. There are varying voices narrating
throughout the movie, they speak of war as the destruction of the human soul. War is characterized as
a game of chance where your life hangs on only chance. The movie begins with a voice saying, What
s this war in the heart of nature? Why does nature vie with itself? it appears like a metaphor for human
life and why do humans war one another. We then see a village in the pacific with natives living a
simple life undisturbed then we see Witt and another soldier who appear to be living with the natives.
Witt then talks about his mother dying and realizes that dying peacefully is where immortality is
hidden. This presents that there is no beautify in war, as no death is

Analysis Of Francois Truffaut And Alfred Hitchcock s Film...
Anyone who is even vaguely aware with film usually has a favorite director. Why? What distinguishes
one director from another? A director is the person who determines and realizes on the screen an
artistic vision of the screenplay; casts the actors and directs their performances; works closely with
production design in creating the look of the film...and in most cases, supervises all postproduction
activity, especially editing (Barsam and Monahan 496). Clearly, the director of a film is lead visionary
in how the film is made. But what makes some directors truly memorable and instantly recognizable?
Those directors take advantage of all different kinds creative possibilities and signatures to become the
true author of the film, also known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alfred Hitchcock also used cinematography in a uniquely stylizing way. Hitchcock not only uses the
camera to create dramatic irony, but he also uses the camera to lie to the audience and create anxious
suspense. For example, in his film Psycho, when Marion is in the shower Hitchcock frames the scenes
very tightly. Marion is in a confined and very personal space. This makes her incredibly vulnerable.
Then Hitchcock heightens the suspense by creating dramatic irony with the reveal of a shadowy figure
closing in on Marion, unbeknownst to her. This creates a lot of anxiety for the audience, knowing the
protagonist is vulnerable and in danger with no way of altering the inevitable. Hitchcock then
manipulates the audience by revealing a brief silhouette of an old lady as our shower killer. Hitchcock
uses this reveal to lie to the audience, he makes the audience think they have more inside knowledge
confirming their already growing suspicions, when in reality the audience is misled entirely and the
murderer was Norman all along. The way Hitchcock uses the camera to reveal both inside information
and misleading information truly keeps the viewer engaged and not knowing what to believe until the
truth is finally revealed. By using this unique technique of controlling the audience by only showing
what he wants you to see, Hitchcock masterfully defies expectations and creates suspense. Both

Need to Rehearse Your Lines in Book, A Challenge for the...
Introduction:
In this introduction, Hagen helps the actor by giving the reader nine questions to ask him or herself.
She created a few exercises to help the actors and actresses practice by themselves. She states that
when doing these exercises, to not look for interesting events and to use real props. She really stresses
the importance of rehearsing your lines.
Basic Object Exercises:
The way that you rehearse should be definite and concise. Practice a lot but when actually performing
it, act as if it was impulsive.
This text helped me to understand Hagen s form and approach to acting. Whenever I see people act on
TV, I think, wow! It sounds so easy to do what they do when matter of fact, acting is so hard.

It is easier to endow an object with physical and reachable attributes, as it is an object of difficult
description and qualities. I think being able to provide a scene with your endowment of an object to
help you do justice to the scene can be very helpful and beautiful
Talking to Yourself
Be aware of when you talk to yourself normally.
The way that you talk to yourself is different than the way you talk to others, especially an audience.
You may be more confident and ready in front of yourself but less confident in front of others so
again, practicing, in front of a group of friends or audience can help you prepare better. It is still one of
my goals to be able to perform wonderfully in front of the class one day.
Outdoors
Explore being in different outdoor situations
Learn to watch what you do when you are on your own time and not really doing much
By exploring the realms outside of acting, you can really get a feel of what it feels like to be out of a
scene, or perhaps even in a scene. Noticing your behavior while doing nothing can really tell you how
you behave otherwise. Are you really quiet in person and really loud or obnoxious on stage? This
really made me think of who I was and made me wonder if I ever acted for a living, and if it were to at
all change who I was as an actor.
Conditioning Forces
Being able to put together three or more senses like heat, cold, pains, dark, etc.
Being able to walk into a scene

Lawrence s Rocking Horse Winner. One general difference is that in The Destructors the setting is in Great Britain, after the bombing had happened during World War 1, when the buildings were destroyed. The setting of Rocking Horse Winner is a suburban community located on the outskirts of Baltimore, Maryland. This one distinct difference affects the entire background of each story. The children in the story do not seem to be affected by this very much, since they have all pretty much lived there entire lives like this, except T who comes from an upper class family but is forced into poverty by the war. To him and the other boys in the story money seems to be of no great significance. The awkward thing about the family in Rocking Horse Winner is that they all maintain an upper class status even though they are short on money. This is hard on the family especially the mother who can feel no love because of the stress that has been forced upon her heart. The family still maintains there lifestyle as members of the upper class even though the line of money continues to get shorter and shorter. Money in each story is scarce, but how the characters in each story cope with this shortage is very different. In Graham Greene s The Destructors the children know that they are not part of the upper class but it has minimal affect to there ego or there self esteem. The need for money is not there. In D.H. Lawrence s Rocking Horse Winner the affect is completely opposite. The family in Rocking Horse Winner is part of the upper class but the money is not there to uphold this status for much longer. • 5. The Life of Artemisia Gentileschi Life of Artemisia Gentileschi Italian Baroque painter, Artemisia Gentileschi was born in Rome on July 8th, 1593. Her father Orazio Gentileschi, who was a painter himself, introduced Artemisia to the art of painting by giving her lessons in his studio. At an early age, Artemisia displayed her interest in art and it wasn t long until her father noticed potential in his daughter enough that she would be able to make a name for herself in the male dominated career. Artemisia had the desire to follow in her father s footsteps, it was then that Orazio encouraged her to follow her dreams and decided to begin training her as an artist. After collaborating on a project with the painter Agostino Tassi, Orazio hired him to tutor Artemisia on perspective due to his skills with landscape. During one of their lessons, Tassi took advantage of Artemisia and raped her. In their time, if a woman was raped, the man who was responsible had to marry her. I find it odd knowing that back then it was considered normal for a man to rape a woman that he wanted to be with and marrying her after. Sounds to me like women had no choice, no say on who they wanted to be in relationship with. Sadly, in many cases the men who committed the rape would flee from the situation to avoid getting married after getting what they wanted. Even though the women weren t at fault, if unmarried women weren t virgins they were seen as tainted, or no good for another man. After the incident had occurred, Tassi had ... Harding s Standpoint Epistemology And Haraway Analysis Views from Somewhere: Subjectivities and Knowledge Production in Harding s Standpoint Epistemology and Haraway s Situated Knowledges In Modest_Witness@Second_Millenium, Donna Haraway profiles the modest witness of science, a self invisible inhabitant of an unmarked category who is authorized to establish universal facts about the world without his own embodiment clouding or biasing the world s objective (i.e., seen as the same from all perspectives) truth. His subjectivity is his objectivity (24). Historically, his objectivity has been contrasted with the subjectivity and special interests of women and people of color, among other marginalized groups. Thus, they have always been excluded from science and used as determinants of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Haraway also calls, perhaps more explicitly, for the eradication of the subject/object binary. This prevents attempts at the modest witness s transcendence (583). Situated knowledges require the object to have agency, to engage with the subject on the level of conversation. The subject does not discover the object and then create a real account of it (592 3). Similar to Harding and standpoint theory, Haraway argues that situated knowledges are about communities, not individuals: a larger vision necessitates a particular location ... In 1943, Dr. Leo Kenner was the first to used Autism for kids who were highly intelligent but did not want to interact with others, he called this early infantile autism. In 1950, Bruno Bettelhiem, a child development specialist, viewed autism was being caused by emotionally cold and distanced mothers. This became known as the Refrigerator Mother Theory . The Refrigerator Mother Theory is when a mother does not interact, or play, with the child at all, causing the child to be fridged ( David E. Simpson, J.J. Hanley, and Gordon Quinn in the film History of Autism Blame ). In 1987, The DSM ( Dianostic and Statistical Manual of Matal Disorders) replaced infantile autism with autism disorder . Around this time, researchers used to think the cause of autism was due to bad parenting. Not only that, the federal government made autism a special education category. This allowed public schools to start knowing children with autism and offer them special services. Some children would be sent to foster care to see if they would recover back then, By this time, many researchers were convinced that the basic reasons were to be found in neurological disturbances, sometimes combined with hereditary illnesses like tuberous sclerosis, metabolic disturbances like PKU or chromosomal aberrations such as fragile X chromosome (Certec). In 1994, the National Alliance for Autism Research and Cure Autism Now raised awareness about ASD. Later on that year, researchers began to believe that the cause of autism was due to mercury in vaccines. This lead to vaccine makers to stop making thimerosal, a vaccine that is made of mainly mercury. In 2001, the National Institute of Health could not find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This will look back at how the group managed the project with a flat structure and relaxed development deadlines and how this affected the final project. The report will then look at the requirements set by the client, and how these were finalised for implementation. Then the implementation of the project will be discussed looking back on how the features were put into the game. Lastly the report will reflect back on how the project went as a whole and what could be improved in the future. Methodology For this project it was decided by the group to use a flat management structure, and to follow a system akin to free development. This method meant that none of the group was the project manager, and instead the thing keeping people on track was their self motivation to complete the project. To aid with completing the project at the start of the project a list of work was set out from the requirements, and then each member of the group picked the tasks that they could complete for the year. The main reason such a free and unstructured approach was taken was that the group had worked together before using the idea and so it was known to work. The second reason it was used was to allow members of the group to focus on this project when they had time and focus on other university units when needed. Looking back through history makes it simple to answer this question. People have very different opinions on to what their answer would be. Reading Out of the Woods edited by Char Miller and Hal Rothman, Dust Bowl: The Southern Plains in the 1930s by Donald Worstter, Nature s Metropolis: Chicago and the Great West by William Cronon, The Ecological Indian by Shepard Krech III, and Something s Rising: Appalachians Fighting Mountaintop Removal by Silas House makes it easy to comprehend and to answer how our views of nature have changed. Looking all the way back to the early Indians, Shepard Krech III, the author of The Ecological Indian, the Indians were not the one with nature individuals you thought they were. Most people that first think of the Indians were one with nature because of movies and old folk tales. They were reckless and took advantage of their environment. They used more resources than they clearly needed. The Indians would waste their animals that they hunted. They caused many problems with the ecosystem involving plants and animals triggered for the use of fire. They involved fire to clear the undergrowth of the forest. Their reasoning to do this was because it made travel significantly easier, it made a better area to hunt, and they used it as protection. Its rarity, indestructibility and malleability, enabled it to be the main interest to both, the individuals and businesses. As a result of these properties, the exploration of gold has been of central significance .The intention of this study is expand on many of the theories and notions concerning supply and demand factors influencing the physical gold market. The study of demand analysis is very essential for any entrepreneur because their main objective is to maximise the profit with efficiently allocating the limited resources provided. The demand analysis supports in enhancing output with systematically utilizing the resources as well as selling the output for maximum profits (Chimoriya, 2015). It allows the entrepreneur to: forecast necessity and sales, determine prices, decisions relating to profit. To begin with, it will be very useful to look at the PEST Analysis where the gold market is analysed from the 4 different points of view. Political: Government has a huge impact in the gold industry. It imposes royalties on gold mining, which affects the competitiveness. Alongside, many policies set by the government restrict and control the supply and demand for example hoarding and dishoarding the gold (Unknown, 2015). Authoritarian, or Autocratic, leaderships revolve around a single leader, and those close to them, whose word is law and power absolute. This means that they should be taken seriously at all times; if a subordinate does not take them serious they may lash out, threaten or simply punish the individual or the entire group to get their point across. Not everyone has an interest in politics or voting these people are generally happy either way or impossible to please. Another problem is that because more people are involved with leading the country secrets could leak; this could be personnel secrets about the leader or even military related secrets. With the growth of technology making our ordinary lives simpler, criminals and bullies have also used technology to aid them in their transgressions. Many bullies have advanced to become cyber bullies and their chosen scare tactic makes use of computers, cellular phones, or some other type of communications device. What then is the actual definition of the act of bullying? Bullying in the State of Nevada is defined as carrying out actions that may be highly offensive to a reasonable person and intended to cause the student to suffer harm or serious emotional distress (Cyberbully tactics are focus of state law, 2010). Cyber bullying elsewhere is bullying by means of electronic communication (Cyberbully tactics are focus of state law, 2010). In Texas, bullying means engaging in written or verbal expression or physical conduct that will physically harm another student or student s property, or is persistent enough to create an intimidating or threatening educational environment for a student (Grobe, 2012). Even though these concepts are intrinsically linked, in that one cannot survive without the other, there is often a desire to separate them and define where one ends and the other begins. In this account, Socrates explains that his behavior stems from a prophecy by the oracle at Delphi which claimed that he was the wisest of all men. Recognizing his ignorance in most worldly affairs, Socrates concluded that he must be wiser than other men only in that he is aware of his own lack of knowledge. In order to spread this peculiar wisdom, Socrates explains that he considers it his duty to question supposed wise men and to expose their false wisdom as ignorance. • 23. Courtroom Reflection Through this assignment I have gained insight and applied ample knowledge that I learned in the classroom to the courtroom. Through my various experiences in multiple court room settings I witnessed everything from an individual in municipal court driving without a license just so he could get Whataburger, owners of an apartment complex with 161 fire violations totaling over $2,000 in fines and tickets, an environmental safety court, and finally ending with a preliminary hearing of murder in the first degree, along with two counts of drive by shooting, and a felon in possession of a firearm. Out of all my court room experiences, the one that I learned the most in was the preliminary hearing which was CF 17 3297, State vs. Jose. The preliminary trial was held for Jose Mascote, with Judge Kevin McCoy residing. Mascote s defending attorney was Mike Arnett and the Assistant District Attorney, Dan Gridley, was present on behalf of the state. During this hearing I was truly able to grasp the notion that with all preliminary hearings and trials the lawyers use their words, witnesses, and evidence to paint a story in your mind of the scenario that occurred. We were able to observe a total of 13 witnesses called to the stand by the state attorney. Since this was a preliminary hearing most of the information that the witnesses testified about was to verify that the events did occur, that the states exhibits were viable, and to prove that there is good intent for an actual trial. The very first witness was the owner of a business called ID Solutions located near the crossroads of 38th and Robinson. This witness was actually tied to the states exhibit 1 and 2. States exhibit 1 was a bird eyes google view of the business and nearby crossing intersections, to which the witness verified during examination. States exhibit 2 was surveillance video that shows shots being fired at the victim out of a blue Dodge Avenger. The second witness called to the stand was allegedly walking down the street to the Buy for Less by 39th and Shields with his pregnant cousin when the defendant reportedly drove by and made threatening comments. • 24. Physical Dimensions And Land Title Act Physical dimensions of property Property comes with stings attached; a fee simple owner can enjoy a bundle of rights but there are a number of reservations to the Crown as well as restrictions on the physical dimensions and use of property. By utilizing a fundamental principle of Ad coelum doctrine and a three dimensional concept; surface, airspace and subsurface of property, rights of landownership and use of property will be examined. Then I will present three cases that modified the principle or physical dimensions. The basic principle Historically the common law maxim: cujus est solum ejus est usque ad coelum et ad inferos He who owns the soils, owns up to the heavens and down to the depth of the earth, was said to apply to physical dimensions of property. Ad coelum doctrine, however, is largely outdated and inaccurate in BC because the use and the extent of land in three dimensions are regulated. Before discussing rights and restrictions, I will explain physical boundaries. Boundaries and Land Title Act In old days, description of boundaries of land used physical objects. Toady in BC with a few exceptions, meets and bounds, measurement of distances, angles, and directions measured by surveyors, are included in Land Title System. In the past when a party wrongly assumes the boundary, without any contracuaral agreement the law of adverse possession could alter the title. • 26. Descriptive Essay About Northern Pines Restaurant Northern Pines Restaurant; Mediocre at best Looking for a new place to eat that is affordable and food that tastes amazing? If so, Northern Pines is not for you!! Do not be deceived by what is perpetrated on the web. Upon internet investigation, The Northern Pines Restaurant is a relaxed go to for all day American fare with a 4.3/5 rating I was expecting a lot more than what was presented to me. The main reasons I was ill fated by this restaurant was the eerie atmosphere, price of the food, and the overall poor service I experienced. To begin with, the atmosphere was all but welcoming. Being new to the Flagstaff area, I was unsure of the location of this diner. When I arrived there, I was immediately confused on if I was given the correct address because the place I had arrived at looked rather scary. Northern Pines was a small diner located between two sleazy hotels surrounded by three gas stations and a pub. The exterior was unsettling to say the least with the lack of lights except for one fluorescent green light that made me feel like I was in a bad indie horror flick. The inside, while slightly better, did not give off the impression I had been hoping. When I walked in I was immediately engulfed by a smell similar to my grandmothers closet, choosing to ignore it, I realized while how off putting the smell, it was not necessarily a death sentence. Another reason the atmosphere was very uncomfortable was due to the loudness of the workers there. For example, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer broth is a combination medium that contains peptone, glucose, and a phosphate buffer that produce proteins, fermentable carbohydrates, and a consistent pH level (Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory Theory and Application). The Methyl Red test uses the Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer broth to determine if an organism produces stable or unstable acid by performing a mixed acid fermentation of glucose. If an organism produces a stable acid, it is positive for executing the mixed acid fermentation which then lowers the pH level in the broth to 4.4 and turns it red. Unstable acids convert to neutral products and the broth will stay yellow or turn orange, both indicate a negative mixed acid fermentation (Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory Theory and Application). Two of the four bacteria used had red broth indicating positive test results for mixed acid fermentation with glucose, they were Escherichia coli and Proteus vulgaris, my known bacteria. The other two bacteria, Alcaligenes faecalis and Enterobacter aerogenes, and unknown bacteria D were negative for mixed acid fermentation. Based on these test results, my unknown could be Alcaligenes faecalis or Enterobacter aerogenes. The improvement of technology, transportation, and communication means that in the last century businesses, governments, and people are being drawn into greater proximity with one another. As a result, the notion of civil society is slowly being challenged because state borders are no longer containers of society , meaning that the state is no longer a fixed unit of sovereign space (Agnew, 59). One of the key phenomenon of globalization is the emergence of a global civil society. Global civil society refers to the vast assembly of groups operating across borders and beyond the reach of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, global civil society and globality/globalization are two ideas that are inherently linked and interdependent on the definitions of one another. Globalization is a key concept that engenders a set of terms that embody it. Terms like interconnection, interdependence, liberalization, etc make us think of a global situation that is marked by intense interaction and interdependence between country units (Scholte, 237). Therefore, global civil society is what defines relations and social connections in a globalized world where territorial location, territorial distance, and territorial borders do not have a determining influence because the idea of place as territorially fixed is diminishing (Scholte, 237). An important concept of civil society is its influence on civic activity on a domestic scale and the influence that activity has on the organization of national politics. A large reason why the development of global civil society occurred was in response to the changing political environment as a result of globalization. According to Scholte, new geography has ended the state s effective monopoly on governance that developed under conditions of territorialism (241). In other words, in the new post sovereign world policies and administration does not adequately reflect citizenship and democracy because these ideals no longer center around the state. Descriptive Essay On Dodo Bird Shifting The View of The Dodo Picture yourself running through the woods as quickly as your legs can move you, with a heap of emotions running through your brain. You feel betrayed, offended, helpless, terrified. You have never been an aggressive animal. You are friendly, you don t eat animals, and it s not like you have the abilities to overpower anything if you do eat them. This may aid your imagination of what the dodo bird went through while being hunted down by the Portuguese. The dodo bird may seem like an unvarying animal; however, the bird, it s misconception, and how it became extinct are intriguing in a way that you may find odd. The dodo bird is not an extremely famous bird, like the beautiful parrot, or the perfectly pink flamingo. Many people aren t educated on what the bird was genuinely like, or even what the bird is. The dodo is a flightless bird from an island in the Indian Ocean called Mauritius. It is part of the Raphidae family(Dodo 1), which consists of pigeons and doves. The dodo clings to the forest in Mauritius and has been extinct since the 17th century(Extinct Bird 1), eating only nuts, fruits, or seeds it found on the ground(Viral Stats). The dodo bird has a comical appearance, that one could only imagine. It s unique visuals were small useless wings, thick yellow legs, and a tuft of feathers high on its rear end (Dodo 2). These odd characteristics made it easy for people to deride the dodo bird. In terms of size, the dodo was larger than a turkey, it weighed about 23 kg (about 50 pounds)...blue gray plumage...23 centimetre (9 inch) blackish bill with reddish sheath forming the hooked tip (Dodo 1). Although it s not a very popular bird, the dodo has been featured in books and movies, such as Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, or Dick, Marjorie and Fidge:a search for the wonderful dodo (Farrow and Wright). While these two pieces are very contributing to the discovery and familiarity of the bird, they are also very contributing to the controversial misconception of the bird. Peter Skrzynecki, an Australian poet of Polish origin emigrated to Australia shortly before the end of World War II. His assimilation into his newfound homeland is portrayed in his emotive poetry, where he explores his disconnection and alienation. The way in which Skrzynecki writes about his personal experiences gives an authentic insight into the perspective of a migrant, allowing the audience to better understand the challenging emotions evoked by the migrant experience. These emotions are clearly seen in Skrzynecki s poem St Patrick s College, where he delves back through his experiences at school and highlights the disconnection and alienation he felt being a migrant. This disconnection is further expressed in Feliks Skrzynecki, where Skrzynecki alludes to his detachment from even his father. These feelings of disconnection and alienation shown by Skrzynecki in his poems, allows the audience to understand the effects of growing up as a migrant. The process of transitioning into a new context can put pressure on an individual to belong, leading to disconnection for the individual if they don t belong. Peter Skrzynecki was enrolled into a Catholic School after his family migrated from Europe to Australia. The effects of this change in context for Skrzynecki is portrayed in his poem St Patrick s College, where he gives authentic personal insight into the challenges faced by migrants growing up in a new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Remark: This illustrates an important point. The fair price of a stock cannot be determined by the risk neutral pricing, as seen below. Suppose S1 (H) and S1 (T ) are given, we could have two current prices, S0 and S0 . Correspondingly, we can get u, d and u , d . Because they are determined by S0 and S0 , respectively, it s not surprising that risk neutral pricing formula always holds, in both cases. That is, 1+r−d u−d S1 (H) S0 = + u−1−r u−d S1 (T ) 1+r , S0 = 1+r−d u −d S1 (H) + u −1−r u −d S1 (T ) 1+r . Essentially, this is because risk neutral pricing relies on fair price=replication cost. Stock as a replicating component cannot determine its own fair price via the risk neutral pricing formula. 1.4. Proof. Following a crowd can be misleading and can also l have consequences. The Lottery by Shirley Jackson takes place in a small village on June 27th, with about 300 people. The characters in the short story are Bobby, Harry Jones, Dickie Delacroix, Mr. Summers, and Mr. Hutchinson. The main idea of First They Came... by Martin Niemoller, is standing up for what is right isn t always the easiest path. I believe that following a crowd, and standing up for what is right is not always the right path or easiest path. During the early 1800s the lives of enslaved women were extremely demanding. The female slaves were expected to bear children, as well as were required to work just as hard as the male slaves on the plantation. Days were long and laborious for slave mothers, they had to make sure that all the work that needed to be done was completed, and also care for their children. Female slaves jobs varied from housework, to field work. Slave mothers knew that giving up on their work was not an option, they had to persevere for their families. Motherhood and work went hand in hand for female slaves, one was not able to do one and not the other. Field labor was an unavoidable task that was fulfilled by nearly all slaves in the antebellum south. There was no gender discrimination in the fields, female slaves had to perform almost all of the plantation chores. Some of the chores female slaves were obligated to complete were picking, hoeing, plowing, mending fences, burning fields, weeding, planting, and harvesting. The work day was long and grueling, slaves worked from sunrise to the sunset. Working the fields was a strenuous job, however it was not done alone. Alfred Hitchcock also used cinematography in a uniquely stylizing way. Hitchcock not only uses the camera to create dramatic irony, but he also uses the camera to lie to the audience and create anxious suspense. For example, in his film Psycho, when Marion is in the shower Hitchcock frames the scenes very tightly. Marion is in a confined and very personal space. This makes her incredibly vulnerable. Then Hitchcock heightens the suspense by creating dramatic irony with the reveal of a shadowy figure closing in on Marion, unbeknownst to her. This creates a lot of anxiety for the audience, knowing the protagonist is vulnerable and in danger with no way of altering the inevitable. Hitchcock then manipulates the audience by revealing a brief silhouette of an old lady as our shower killer. Hitchcock uses this reveal to lie to the audience, he makes the audience think they have more inside knowledge confirming their already growing suspicions, when in reality the audience is misled entirely and the murderer was Norman all along. The way Hitchcock uses the camera to reveal both inside information and misleading information truly keeps the viewer engaged and not knowing what to believe until the truth is finally revealed. By using this unique technique of controlling the audience by only showing what he wants you to see, Hitchcock masterfully defies expectations and creates suspense. Both ... I think being able to provide a scene with your endowment of an object to help you do justice to the scene can be very helpful and beautiful Talking to Yourself Be aware of when you talk to yourself normally. The way that you talk to yourself is different than the way you talk to others, especially an audience. You may be more confident and ready in front of yourself but less confident in front of others so again, practicing, in front of a group of friends or audience can help you prepare better. It is still one of my goals to be able to perform wonderfully in front of the class one day. Outdoors Explore being in different outdoor situations Learn to watch what you do when you are on your own time and not really doing much By exploring the realms outside of acting, you can really get a feel of what it feels like to be out of a scene, or perhaps even in a scene.
