OPERATING SYSTEM
A set of instruction given to computer running at the background
and provide a user interface to interact with computer hardware.
Types of OS:-

Embedded OS
A type of OS that is specially configured for a certain
hardware configured and designed for special purpose.
Detail of Embedded OS
 Hardware that supports Embedded OS.
 Little Computing Power.
 Low Memory.
Embedded Operating System
Windows Embedded CE:-
It is a scale down OS use for communication, entertainment and have
limited functionality.
Examples:-
 MIPs
 SHx
 Intel x86

Windows Phone 7:-
It works on smart phone. User have access to
PIM(personal Information Manager) Function such as Contact list,
Calendar etc.

It is an Operating System used in the Iphone
and Ipod/I pad touch.

stylus.

It is a complete operating system works on
desktop computer or a notebook computer.
CLIENT COMPUTER
The computer using stand alone operating system
are also called as client computers. They work in
conjunction with the network operating system.
e.g.
DOS, Window 3.x,Window 95, Mac OS ,Window 2000
professional and Window NT Workstation etc.
STAND-ALONE OPERATING SYSTEM

 PC-DOS
 MS-DOS
 Used a command-line interface and menu-driven
interface at the later stage.
 DOS does not offer GUI so not in use in the current
era.
