What Is Professional Development? ..may include:  formal types of vocational education, typically post-secondary or poly-technical training leading to qualification or credential required to obtain or retain employment. pre-service or in-service professional development programs. Individuals may pursue professional development independently, or programs may be offered by human resource departments. can range from a single workshop to a semester-long academic course, to services offered by a medley of different professional development providers and varying widely

  • 18. What Is Professional Development? Off-site trainings provided by 3rd party organizations.
  • 19. But …. Busy schedule sometimes preclude me from attending trainings, even on campus.
  • 20. But …. Even with discounts, conference travel/cost also expensive.
  • 21. But …. Cost of training can be very expensive.  Dept has limited budget for training.
