Good morning class in my project I’ll be presenting the four sentence types
I’ll also be presenting the four structures
3. Sentence structures
There are four types of sentence structures
You have simple sentences, which are made of one independent clause
Compound sentences, which are made of two independent clauses
Complex sentences, which are made of at least one independent clause and at
least one subordinate clause
Compound-complex sentences, which are made of at least two independent
clauses and at least one subordinate clause
4. Sentence structures example
Simple sentence- Alicia studies at the library.
Compound sentence- Alicia studies at the library, and Mark reads books.
Complex sentence- Alicia studies at the library, although Lilly doesn’t.
Compound-complex sentence- Alicia studies at the library, Mark reads books,
but Lilly does neither.
5. Sentence purposes
There are four types of sentence purposes
A declarative sentence states a comment
An imperative sentence gives a command
An interrogative sentence asks a question
An exclamatory sentence shows excitement or lots of emotion
6. Sentence purpose examples
Declarative sentence- Alicia and her friends went to the movies.
Imperative sentence- Go to theater seven on your left.
Interrogative sentence- Do you want to buy snacks before the movie starts?
Exclamatory sentence-Hurry up the movie is starting!
