3. CONCEPT
⢠My concept is to have a person
playing an old school video game,
then as the camera pulls out the
logo appears within the game and
when then there will be a screen
in which the person celebrates
because they are winning or beat
their high score.
⢠This should fit in with the new
generations phone dependency
and using older phone games
should relate to the furthest/oldest
end of my audience range.
4. LOGO DESIGN
⢠This is my design for the youth channel logo 'The GRID Youth'.
⢠When animating the logo I will have it so that the blocks will animate to
appear separate times in rows based on the color. The words 'the' and
'grid' will come in as full words but at separate times where as the
letters in 'youth' will appear separately.
⢠This was the target audiences favorite logo so this will be the one I use.
It has color but also doesnât over power the audience.
5. SOUND DESIGN
⢠I chose to have a different sound for the boxes dropping/ blocks moving
into place/ filling a box; this was the sound below as it can be used for
all 3 Idents to make more of a link.
⢠I chose to have a separate Logo music which fit into the animation I did,
this is the sound below. However I will speed it up in post as then it is
more in time with my logo animation.
⢠I wanted something similar to the logo, so that it would easily blend into
the other, for my win screen. I chose to have this as my full win screen
sound however it doesn'tât mean that the whole thing will be used in my
Ident.
⢠In the way of main music these were my 4 choices as to what my In-app
music would be; this would be played on repeat until the win screen
shows. I chose the 3rd as it was my audiences favorite.
6. MOTION GRAPHICS AND
COMPOSITING TECHNIQUES
⢠I will use Motion tracking on the over the shoulder shot of the phone
screen and then add the game to the phone screen so that the game
will appear on the screen.
⢠I will have the game Animated so that actions only happen when the
screen of the phone is tapped so the game appears to be reaction to
the owner of the phone.
⢠As for the Logo I will have that animated like any other elements of
the game (in the lines and dots game it will fill in one set of players
squares that they completed, in the cane game it will swing in like
the blocks, in the un un-block-me game it will be the block that has
to be released) this is so the logo looks like it belongs inside of the
game.
⢠At the end of the Ident there will be the logo of the TV channel
animated on its own as apposed to just being an element in the
game. However there will still be action behind this.
7. IDENT 1
⢠In this design the player
draws lines between the
different dots to make
boxâs
⢠I improved the design to
have the blue playerâs
box fill with the channel
logo while the green
players boxes fills with
silhouette.
⢠I designed the win
screen in classic style
with the upgrade of a
âNext Levelâ button
above the âHomeâ and
8. IDENT 1
1. Close up of screen that has
the player playing the game;
the game has just started
and we see the player add a
few lines.
2. As game goes on it zooms out
to reveal its on a phone; there
are some boxes filled in at
this point and it appears that
the player is winning.
3. Win screen; after about 30
goes the win screen comes
up and says the player is the
winner.
4. Celebration; a reaction shot
of the player.
5. Logo; the logo comes on
screen to show the audience
9. IDENT 2
⢠In this design the
player moves wooden
textured blocks
around so that the
blue/ logo block can
be moved to the exit,
which is highlighted
red.
⢠I improved the design
by replaces simple
blue block with a
channel logo block
with texture box fill.
⢠I designed the level
complete screen with

3. Level Completed screen; after
the player completes the
level the level completed
screen comes on.
4. Celebration; a reaction shot
of the player.
5. Logo; the logo comes on

that it is this channel.
11. IDENT 3
⢠In this design the

dots to make boxâs
⢠I improved the
production process by
changing to a claw
instead of a hook as
the animation was to
hard and fiddly and
the animation looked
blocky.
⢠I designed the high
score screen in like
the others but with out

and we see the player start
to drop boxes.
2. As game goes on it zooms out

making the tower taller.
3. High Score screen; after the
logo block is dropped the
high score screen comes on
display.
4. Celebration; a reaction shot
of the player.
5. Logo; the logo comes on
screen to show the audience
that it is this channel.
14. Final ident to produce
⢠I have chosen to do Ident 3 as I believe it will be
the easiest to film and produce while also
presenting enough of a challenge to keep me
working on the projects minor details; such as
the back ground.
⢠My sequence for my Ident will be:
o Close up of screen that has the player playing the
game; the game has just he first box is on what
appears to be the ground with another box in a
crane above that drops when the screen is tapped..
o As game goes on it zooms out to reveal its on a
phone; after a few more boxes drop the ground isn't
in frame anymore and there are some things that
move such as the birds, clouds and leaves.
o High Score screen; this continues until after the logo
block is dropped then one more drop after that the
high score screen comes on display.
o Celebration; jumps to a reaction shot of the player.
o Logo; the logo sequence comes on screen to show
the audience that it is this channel.
⢠On the right is my sound board for my Ident; it
has all the better choices for the sounds that
were chosen by the target audience. Logo Background
Music
Win ScreenDrop Sound
15. Sound planning
⢠Blue box is the
opening music and
ends when the fist
drop occurs and this
section only covers
the movement of the
first box before the
game starts.
⢠Green box is the logo
music and occurs at the
end of the main animated
section and fades out into
the end logo.
⢠Red box is the drop points
this has the sound track but
an over sound that has the
second a box hits the tower
to add a more interactive
method. Full completed audio:

over during filming
o If not checked beforehand then it is Sydney
Poolemanâs fault, however if batteries die and
were not provided with charger then fault is not
to be placed on them.
Faults with the Tripod o Causes uneven videos and o Check the tripod before taking the
equipment out of the college vicinity.

19. 3. Production log
methods of production
⢠Repeated the same drop
sequence:
o Left, Center, Right, then Center landing at
0.5 second intervals.
o When screen is tapped the crane stops
and then the 2 sides open and the box
takes 0.05 seconds to hit the tower.
o During the boxâs drop the next block
fades in amongst the claws that have
closed during the time it takes to fade in.
o Then it goes back to the top and
continues to move.
o Move down the block as the tower
disappears down the screen.
20. 3. Production log
methods of production
⢠Green screen the phone front to make the app play appearing
behind:
o I took the original image and add the keylight effect to remove the green area from
the phone screen.
o Then I added in the animation and moved It around to keep central to the screen.
o Have the winner
screen do the
same but have
the opacity
changed to
appear at the end
of the sequence.
21. 3. Production log
software & file management
⢠Which software have you used
and how have you managed your
files
o I have a broad file called Idents
inside that is 5 sub-folders called:
1. Design
2. Footage
3. Planning
4. Production
5. Screen shots
o Each one of them is divided into
sections such as the file types,
purpose, or subject matter.
o This layout is also done on the
desktop.
22. 3. Production log
software & file management
⢠I used different file types
such as
o The assets used in animation are
PSD files that were able to be
layered and move each layer in
after effects.
o Footage is all MOV files, this
includes the animated sequences
and the after effect sequences.
o The music was in M4A files as they
are my own exported from garage
band.
23. 3. Production log
fitness for purpose
⢠My Ident is not as seamless as professional Idents which I
obvious as it is quite rough around the edges and has issues
with the live action shot elements.
⢠My ident is quite different from any current ident, as it
hasn't got a whole bunch of live action movement;
compared to other Idents for my audience the ident I made
is more adolescent and reflects a more millennial feeling.
⢠The background and lighting of the live action were off
however with time restrictions I couldnât re-shoot them so I
had to reduce the exposure and just live with a white
background; The animation and motion tracking went well
and turned out pretty good, which I believe made up for
the live action issues.
24. 3. Production log
legal & Ethical
⢠To make my Ident without legal issues I have done
the following things:
o Made own music not using pre-made/
existing sound on garage band.
o Filmed my own footage so that stock
footage so that I have the right to use it
however I need without issue.
o Made all assets myself so that there is no
copy right infringement.
o Had actors sigh a contract so that there is
no misunderstanding of the use of their
image; the full contract here:
