2. Why & Who
Having a target audience is important in industry because it allows the
people producing a product to get feedback from the people that are most
likely to buy their product. Gathering this feedback from a target audience
makes it clear what your consumer wants.
The target audience for our production is young adults (aged 16-30) and most
of our feedback was from the lower bound of that range.
3. One of the first pieces of feedback that we received was the response to our
pitch presentation.
The feedback was on our initial concept and idea; it was mostly positive with
a few recommendations for films similar to our idea that we could use as
reference.
We also received feedback on the timer which was one of the ideas we had for
an enigma. Our audience wanted to know more about the timer and what
happens when it ends so we decided to use this interest and make it the
climax of our trailer.
4. Rough Cut
After screening our rough cut and draft poster/magazine, we received our
second piece of feedback.
One of the main points of the feedback was that our poster’s formatting and
font could be improved; our audience said that the billing block looked
unnatural so high up on the poster and that the title’s font connoted a slasher
horror rather than a psychological thriller. We acted on this feedback and
made changes to the poster before our final version.
5. Final Cut
The feedback for our final cut was positive and our audience didn’t provide
any criticism that we could work on. This meant that our final product was
suitable for our audience and all previous feedback was properly acted upon
since the audience didn’t bring up the issues again.
