Assure Method
Analyze the Learner:
The learners will be first grade special education students. Seven of those students are
ADHD. Seventy percent of those students are White. Twenty percent of those students are
African Americans and ten percent are Latino.
State the Objectives:
Children in the first grade special education class will recite all twelve months of the year
within a one month time frame. Students will do so by doing a Webquest assignment, making a
poster with the twelve months of the year on it, reviewing a calendar on Wikispaces as a class,
and watching and listening to a video telling and showing the twelve months of the year. It will
be a 95% percent degree of accuracy.
Select Methods, Media, and Material:
We will be using Zunal. A webquest that I make up will be provided on that website.
Students will perform the activity that is on the website. Students will also be using poster board
paper to make their own individual poster on the twelve months of the year. We will be using
Google Calendar to go over the months of the year. We will access Google Calendar on our class
website, which is on wikispaces. We will also be using Youtube to watch videos on the twelve
months of the year.
Utilize the Media and Materials:
Students will be doing an activity on a webquest in which I created on Zunal. First,
students will learn the twelve months of the year. Then students will do an activity in which they
pass a ball around the classroom and whenever a student catches the ball then that student will
say a month of the year. Next, students will review a poster in which I made on Powerpoint
containing the twelve months of the year. Students will then make their own poster using poster
board. We will the log onto our class wiki and review the Google Calendar and go through the
months of the year on there. Lastly, students will watch a video of the twelve months of the year.
Require Learner Participation:
We will begin class by talking about what the months of the years actually are. We will
also discuss how many months there are. Next, students will doing the activity on the webquest
in which I explained earlier. After I feel that they students have a good understanding of what the
twelve months actually are, then we will move onto the poster assignment. Students will be
provided with crayons and markers to make their own poster. I will show them an example of
what I would like theirs to look like. During the afternoon, we will access Google Calendar
2. through wikispaces. We will have a group discussion while we are going over the months on the
calendar. Lastly, students will watch a video on the twelve months of the year using Youtube.
Evaluate and Revise:
I will assess my students understanding of the twelve months of the year by watching
how well the students answer during the activity using webquest. I will also examine the
student’s posters that they make. I will give students the chance to ask questions anytime.
