A- Analyze Learners
S- State Objectives
S- Select Methods, Media and Materials
U- Utilize Media and Materials
R- Require Learner Participation
E- Evaluate and Revise
A- By analyzing my students, I will notice the different background in students and that they
will need more hands on activities because half of my students are ADHD. They are all in 1st
grade. Ethnicity does not have a huge role in learning the 12 months of the year. Gender
can be worked into activities when learning about the 12 months of the year. When I am
working with the students, I must see where they are in the material and how much they
know, to begin teaching my subject. I also have to prepare the students and keep them
interested in the topic, so they are more apt to participate and learn. I must prepare the
work for the students in relations to their learning style.
S- My class will enumerate the months of the year after singing a song, making a calendar,
and discussing birthday months in groups by the end of the week with 90% accuracy.
S- By selecting methods, media and materials, I will use the method of a song and activities
like drawing and talking to calm the minds down after the song. My main use of media is
the internet. Along with the song, we will watch and make a YouTube video and/or the use
of moviemaker to make the video. Next, to get the creative and hyper minds flowing, we
will make a poster about the months of the year or a particular month/ birthday month.
The materials used are a computer, audio, moviemaker/YouTube, calendar, pens,
crayons/markers and a poster board.
U- To utilize media and materials, I am to look over activities and media to make sure
everything goes as planned. I should have the video up, worksheets and paper out for
students. I should also tell the students what we will be doing and help them sing the song
and complete the activities. When they get into the classroom, I must instruct them on
2. what we are going to do and how to do it, so they are not confused and can follow along.
Then, I will group the students up so they can perform cooperative learning.
R- By requiring learner presentation, I will have the students get up and sing the song, then
work on making a calendar. After seeing the set-up of the calendar and discussing in detail
about it, they will discuss when their birth month is with their group. This will all be
completed with the instruction of the teacher and encouragement from the student and
their group. After the teacher thinks that they all understand and when she wants to test
their comprehension, she will construct a test for the students.
E- For the evaluation, the teacher must evaluate the presentation and revise where and
when activities and learning needs to be rethought. Whether it is adding more activities or
changing the activities and how they need to learn them, the teacher needs to do this to
help the students to learn and keep their attention and retain the information. This is
important for the teacher because she will need to see what helped the students learn and
what didn’t. Lastly, she will need to review and revise for the next time.
