characters have a symbolic identity and thus, he is simultaneously telling two stories, but not in the

I really enjoyed this podcast by Rogier van der Heide. I am forever wandering around my house
turning lights off and it s not just a money/planet saving action. Darkness is wonderful and important,

Without darkness, the concept of light doesn t exist or at best without the contrast of darkness, light is

By examining three of the commercials from the 1950s, we can conclude what the initial perceived
dental problem was in the era. In each of the commercials I analyzed, the issue of tooth decay was
mentioned repeatedly. I examined the 1956 Pepsodent commercial, the 1950s Colgate Dental Cream
commercial, and the 1956 Crest commercial. The competing companies all had a similar substantive
characteristic in that they used science and scientific terms to sway their consumers. In the particular
situation of tooth decay, all of the rhetors chose science and special terminology that would cause a
response in their audience. It is hard to argue against science after all.
Beginning with the 1956 Pepsodent commercial we see that the scientific formula is used but not
explained. According to the cartoon images in the commercial, I.M.P. cleans the teeth and removes the
yellow stains, while Irium fights tooth decay. The science behind these products in the toothpaste
formula is not mentioned. However, the audience can see the cause and effect in relation to those two

Nonprofit Hospital
Should we receive our treatment, nonprofit or for profit hospitals? Many people would say there is
little distinction between the two. One can receive adequate treatment at either institution; however,
some would say they have specific differences in how care is administered. This work will make
informative comparisons between the two institutions, argue the merits, and explain how they both
operate to save lives.
First, let s look at the organization of a non profit hospital. A non profit hospital is by definition one
that exists solely to be at the service of the community s healthcare needs. One of the most important
distinctions about a non profit hospital is that no person or company makes any money due to non
profit hospitals. Therefore, all of the income received by a non profit hospital is to be used to help not
only the patients, improve the overall health of a particular community.

Over the course of the semester we have learned about the covenant between God and humanity. In
the Bible, the Old and New Testament, both have stories relating to covenant as a promise and
response. There are also stories of covenant and sacrifice. A covenant is an agreement between two
people and promises people make to each other. One of the main ideas of the bible is the covenant
between God and his people. As we read in Genesis nine in the Old Testament, God had a covenant
with Noah and his sons. This story was relating God s covenant as a promise to never flood the world
