Yearbook Research Papers
Yearbooks are and will always, in my opinion, be a waste of money. You have colorful pages of
overly excited students, half of which you had no idea existed. People that have never spoken to you
before would ask for a signature in their yearbook. Unfortunately, my mother wanted memories
from my childhood and demanded that I buy one. Flipping through the pages brings back countless
memories, both honorable and despicable; what I think about the most are the people I've met
throughout the years, that at one point were significant to me. Growing up making friends occurred

Those hugs and excitement later turned into hellos, those hellos' later turned into once in a while
smiles, those smiles later turned into oblivion. We made new friends. This happened over and over,
like a routinely habit you couldn't break. Friends were like replaceable pieces; I guess that meant we
weren't really friends. It was like a cold bucket of water to the face, an unfortunate realization that it
would happen sooner or later. I would wonder about it, and I would have to explain to myself that I
was partly to blame. I was too kind, too giving, and too loyal. At a young age I learned the hard way

These crimes have been completely non–discriminate towards either social status or ethnicity. What

Children, families and communities can all benefit greatly from quality after–school programs. The
majority of the time spent by unsupervised children and youth is either watching television or with
peers in unsupervised activities. Quality after–school programs provide a safe, supervised
environment for these young people and children. After–school programs also provide structured
supervised activities, which improves the overall learning process. The students involved in quality
after–school programs create more positive relationships with their peers and also with caring
responsible adults with whom these students can foster lasting bonds. This in turn helps to harvest

Children's theatre is an activity I have positive, first–hand experience in. I have participated in
shows and productions in my community and school for as long as I can remember, and I loved
every second of it. Since I have a history with the topic, I believed it would be a smart idea to
volunteer my time with some sort of children's theatre organization. I have always known how
beneficial children's theatre has been to me in my own life, however, I will show how everyone's
involvement in community children's theatre bears a multitude of positive effects. I decided to
volunteer with the Portsmouth Area Arts Council Children's Theatre, or PACT for short. After this
assignment is due, I will still be volunteering with them, helping backstage with their latest
production, Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr, which will be performed on the Vern Riffe Center's
main stage in November. However, for the few weeks I was with them recently, I was able to help at
rehearsals for the show. I did everything from helping children with homework to making sure the
kids in the cast were behaving and paying attention to what was happening. These responsibilities,
along with observing the kids ' behaviors, allowed me to see how being a part of a production can

Afterschool Problems
In NYC, access to after–school programs remains a problem for many children especially those
from low–income/unstable families due to the lack of funding by the government. After school
programs are slowly diminishing in the city and many people are not interested in reviving them.
Over the years, many people have downplayed afterschool programs and their benefits to children
especially those that come from low–income/unstable families. The social development of children
from unstable backgrounds could greatly improve by the promotion and valuation of afterschool
programs. They offer activities, memories, and a sense of community all of which these kids need to
excel and gear away from the negativity that surrounds them.
Children in low–income/unstable families often face problems when it comes to their personal
situation. They go through issues with their homes, schooling, and family. Based on research
studies, by the time they're in fourth grade, more than one–third of children will experience a change
in their parents' relationship (whether marriage, separation, or divorce). Also, schooling is prone to

Timmy goes to school one day and finds out that there's going to be extracurricular activities going

extracurricular activities because some parents may not have the money to pay for the uniforms,

Expository Draft Borris In school, grades and scores are considered to be everything, if having the
highest possible grades is a main priority, joining a program or activity after school would be highly
beneficial. Activities and programs that are held after school can be one of the most beneficial things
for a student in any type or grade of school. Participation and dedication is very important within
years of attending school. These activities improve test scores, attendance, and chances for college
or graduation in general. Schools that have implemented after–school programs have shown to be a
very favorable decision for children and have displayed results of having greater scoring on tests
and exams rather than schools that have not implemented these programs. After–school programs
have improved scores for individuals and it has reflected on the school, making the entire school's
average look better as a whole. According to Barnett, a school that he personally researched himself,
went from an F average for two years to a B average in one year. This shows that they did not have a

Factors that should be considered when determining the purpose of evaluation are: Formative
evaluation and summative evaluation are the two factors that determine the purpose of educational
evaluation (Glickman, Gordon, & Ross–Gordon, 2014, p. 225). Robert Stakes says it best in his
comment: "When the cook tastes the soup, that 's formative: When the guests taste the soup, that 's
summative" (Billard, 2011). Just as a cook, evaluators are using formative evaluations to keep the
program in balance, to improve the program, to eliminate distractions from goals and to reassure

summative evaluations to determine if the programs are fulfilling their purpose; the sole outcome of

evaluations can include the findings from formative evaluations (Glickman et al., 2014). Factors that

High school classes should not start later in the day and end later in the day. It ruins everyone's
afternoon because if any students have an after school activity then they don't have a lot of time to

Boys & Girls Club of Kern County Introduction The Boys & Girls Club of Kern County is a non–
profit, established in 1996, dedicated to help young individuals in preparing for their futures. The

The Lighthouse is an after school program for middle and high school students. I decided to

were effective. Effectiveness of after school programs, and funding is now measured by academic
improvement of students who attend after school programs. Data on the effectiveness of after school
programs have conflicting outcomes. Some studies found a significant increase in student's

Persuasive Essay On The School Should Start Time
Should school start at 7:00 or should it start later in the morning? In Douglas High School, start
times are at 7:30 in the morning. Changing the school schedule to a later start time would result in
many other changes affecting a lot of people. According to the National Sleep Foundation, "The
change will affect the entire community, from students and parents to businesses, libraries, police,
youth sports clubs, bus drivers and many others." Altering the school schedule would influence
numerous aspects of people's lives. Highly coordinated routines would have to be changed and
adapted to the new schedule. A later release time would take time off of students' free time in the
afternoon. Clubs, sports, jobs, and other after–school activities would have to be pushed back later
into the evening. School start times should stay earlier in the morning, since changing routines
would be difficult, students' need free time, and after–school activities would be pushed back.
Perhaps the biggest concern for parents would be having to change and reorganize their carefully
planned, traditional routines. Many people are resistant to change, especially if it involves
reassembling their plans and procedures to adjust to the new schedule. This is a problem for parents'
work schedules since they most likely will not be able to see their kids in the morning which will
leave students unsupervised when they get ready. This is also a problem for transportation since
parents will not be able to take their kids to school, unnecessarily causing traffic and more costs
since bus schedules would change too. According to the National Sleep Foundation, "If elementary
students have the earliest start times, they may be waiting for the bus in the dark early mornings, or
waiting at home alone after school." Later start times are thought to solve tardies and absences, but
if students cannot get to school, it does not solve anything. A change in the school schedule will
result in disorder in many people's daily routines, perhaps having to discard certain activities to fully
adjust to the new schedule. The changes caused by a new schedule affect students too.

I have participated in shows and productions in my community and school for as long as I can remember, and I loved every second of it. Since I have a history with the topic, I believed it would be a smart idea to volunteer my time with some sort of children's theatre organization. I have always known how beneficial children's theatre has been to me in my own life, however, I will show how everyone's involvement in community children's theatre bears a multitude of positive effects. I decided to volunteer with the Portsmouth Area Arts Council Children's Theatre, or PACT for short. After this assignment is due, I will still be volunteering with them, helping backstage with their latest production, Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr, which will be performed on the Vern Riffe Center's main stage in November. However, for the few weeks I was with them recently, I was able to help at rehearsals for the show. I did everything from helping children with homework to making sure the kids in the cast were behaving and paying attention to what was happening. These responsibilities, along with observing the kids ' behaviors, allowed me to see how being a part of a production can positively impact children's lives.
