On April 21st, Dr. Saxe held a panel discussion that lasted an hour and 30 minutes.
All type of people that work at the local and state level went there, from people
running for different districts to the state representative, Chris Turner. During this
panel of discussion, 8 persons had the time to introduce themselves, what they re
running for, and what they would do if they get elected. This was a great day for
this class because we had the opportunity to interact with people who holds positions
in the state of Texas, giving us another view of how things work in Texas.

important role in our Earth s climate system. The climate feedbacks influencing the
global climate variability are directly or indirectly affected by aerosols, clouds, and
precipitation, and thus, modulate the Earth s radiation and surface energy balance.
Therefore, global observations of aerosols, clouds, and precipitation are crucial not
only to better understand the processes involved in the climate system but also to
predict the future climate change.
Satellite remote sensing as a tool can be very valuable to acquire such global
observations of aerosols, clouds, and precipitation for monitoring Earth s climate
system. In particular, some of the regions in the Earth are not easily accessible to
obtain in situ data while on those regions; space borne instruments can act as
complimentary data sources. Besides, large scale data mapping and monitoring are
only feasible with space based observations.

Tech. Project aims at introducing biometric capable technology for use in automating
the entire attendance system for the students pursuing courses at an educational
institute. The goal can be disintegrated into finer sub targets; fingerprint capture
transfer, fingerprint image processing and wireless transfer of data in a server client
system. For each sub task, various methods from literature are analyzed. From the
study of the entire process, an integrated approach is proposed.
Biometrics based technologies are supposed to be very efficient personal identifiers
as they can keep track of characteristics believed to be unique to each person. Among
these technologies, Fingerprint recognition is universally applied. It extracts minutia
based features from scanned images of fingerprints made by the different ridges on
the fingertips.
The student attendance system is very relevant in an institute like ours since it aims
at eliminating all the hassles of roll calling and malpractice and promises a full proof
as well as reliable technique of keeping records of student s attendance.

The Twilight Samurai Review The Twilight Samurai is a Japanese film that was
filmed not too many years ago in 2002. It is a historical drama film that is based on
the mid 19th century in Japan. This film mostly focuses on the life of the poor,
especially the life of Seibei Iguchi. Seibei Iguchi is said to be a low ranking samurai,
meaning that he is fairly poor. He is also known as a bureaucrat. Although he is
poor, he is not too poor because, he actually works. He always worked so that he
could make the best life that he possibly could for his two daughters Kayano and Ito

Seibei Iguchi did not fit in with them. That is how Seibei Iguchi ended up with the

as often as he should have. The only reason he failed to take regular bathes and
wear decent clothing is because he simply could not afford it any more, due to the
fact that he was spending all of his hard earned money of his mother s dementia
medication and the money for his monthly bath fees went to his two daughters as

homeless and smell not so fresh. Although Seibei Iguchi was constantly being
picked on and frowned upon, after they heard about his skills with sword fighting

The Orangeburg Massacre At 10:33 p.m. on the night of February 8, 1968, eight to
10 seconds of police gunfire left three young black men dying and 27 wounded on
the campus of South Carolina State College in Orangeburg (Bass). The previous
event was reported in Documenting the Orangeburg Massacre. The Orangeburg
Massacre was a shooting at South Carolina State University(Pulaski). This massacre
was a Civil Rights Movement protest that turned into a deadly event. This deadly
event killed three people and injured twenty seven more (Bass). This massacre
consisted of the victims the African Americans involved in the protest, and the guilty
party the Highway Patrolmen who were the shooters of the massacre (Pulaski). This
event was an unfair attack on the African Americans involved in this protest because
they were unarmed and defenseless from the attack (Pulaski). Because of the conflicts
over the Civil Rights Movement specifically in Orangeburg, South Carolina, African
Americans involved in the protest were forced to compromise by serving prison time
because of their actions. With this in mind, the Orangeburg Massacre was an unfair
event because the African Americans were protesting peacefully for their own rights
